The problem with The Thing is that it starts out as a dog so by the time it’s a disgusting messy morphing freak I love it, it’s a precious pubby. It turns into a head with spider arms and I’m like yes that’s my favorite dog, it splits a man in half and I’m like fuck yeah good boy. I already love horror monsters but The Thing is baby.
#prince text#when it shows the dog mouth doing the wild ass screech#I’m like aw#ok but forreal tho I love this movie I love it I love it#it’s so damn good#I was so annoyed with the new prequel they did bc there is so much fun in appreciating the creature as a creature#and so much fun in the guess who has been infected by the pubby#and they don’t take advantage of any of that suspense the movie goes from zero to 100 and it feels more like a shoot em up movie somehow#SOMEHOW#when there is a perfectly good monster there#that feel when movies with movie monsters don’t take advantage of having a fucking monster on screen#I’m also obsessed with The Thing bc it’s a monster movie and an alien movie all in one#and a whodunnit#it’s so good#it’s in my top favs of horror movies alongside Alien and Nope#and Misery#also don’t get me wrong it used to terrify me#I have such fond feelings for it bc the first time I watched it it freaked me out so much lmao#but I have seen it so many times now it’s a comfort movie for me#I’m always like 🥹
