I watched as he muttered to himself, hovering over his notes, pointing at random places, and then pacing back to his invention. The sight was as amusing as it was irritating. I watched as he tinkered and took notes. His chocolate brown hair bounced as he shuffled back and forth.

Leaning against a cluttered table covered in gadgets and gizmos I noticed a spyglass. I picked it up and placed it against my eye. I followed a seagull as it dove down, only to catch an updraft and soar much higher than before. I watched the sun begin to set, leaving only a sliver of natural sunlight.

Setting the spyglass down, I looked over to Viktor. He was still enthralled with his work. I walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. He spun around and nearly hit me with the notebook he held.

“Watch it,” I sneered.

He laughed wryly and almost returned to his project, but stopped when we made eye contact. We briefly held each other’s gaze until I coughed to break the increasingly awkward silence.

“Uh,” I paused, debating on continuing, “The sun is nearly set, so…Would you like to stargaze with me?”

His tired eyes widened. After a moment, his shoulders slumped and he sighed.

“That would be…beneficial,” he said nodding.

I began walking out of the room, pausing only to hold the door for him. He gave me an apathetic look, which I returned with a half-hearted smile. I shut and locked the door behind me as we stood on the balcony.

The silence between Viktor and me was not awkward like before, but it wasn’t comfortable either. We stood side-by-side and leaned against the railing watching as the sliver of sunlight became all but an orange hue on the horizon. We waited silently until the sky darkened enough to see the stars. Once they appeared, I sat down and gazed at the glittering sky; Viktor followed suit and small talk ensued. He talked about his gadgets and formulas and I listened -- despite not knowing what he was talking about. Viktor’s hazel eyes shined a gloss-like gold as he spoke, his enthusiasm evident. It was a sweet sight. When he calmed down, I started pointing out different constellations. He watched my hands and listened to whatever I had to say about each planet, quasar, black hole, star, or nebula I gestured to.

I felt a weight on my shoulder during my rant about Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. I looked over to see Viktor asleep. His eyes bore heavy on his face and his cheeks were sunk in but he had a small smile on his lips. Gazing at the sky, I smiled.

His head began to fall after a bit so I gently guided him to lie on my lap. He started to snore quietly the moment he lay on my thighs. Smiling, I ran my fingers through his hair. It was soft to the touch. Absentmindedly, I played with his hair as I gazed at the rising moon.

I keep seeing the leather/pleather vs denim jacket poll over and over again with all different sorts of discourse about how there is no plastic-free pleather and like, that's TRUE, there isn't, but honestly I DO think people who don't want to use animal products* also deserve to look cool

and so my suggestion is that y'all google "waxed cotton jacket" or "waxed canvas jacket" plus like, "motorcycle" or whatever style you think is cool, because there's a plastic free leather-look material that is strong and durable and waterproof and doesn't use animal products** AND is plastic free already out there and some of the clothes that you can get made out of it look sick as hell.

*ignoring the fact that most leather is meat by-product that would be going to waste anyway

Jason, during his time with the League, shares his code with Damian, to be used “only in the direst of circumstances, when you have exhausted all other options.” He doesn’t know if Bruce will answer, given how fractured their relationship was before he died, but it is better than nothing. Every tool counts when they live such dangerous lives.

Damian uses it exactly once, and Bruce, who still feels the loss of his son like a yawning chasm in his chest, responds to it even though he knows it can’t be Jason because Jason’s dead. What he finds, instead of Jason, is a boy in League garbs, drenched in blood from the tips of his midnight-black hair to his too-small feet, with a face that Bruce sees himself and Talia in, requesting asylum from a grandfather who wishes to possess his body. Bruce doesn’t question how this boy who is so clearly his son knew the code. Talia al Ghul is resourceful and places family above all; the code is not beyond her abilities to discover, and she is not above using Bruce’s desperate love for his dead son to ensure that hers does not meet the same fate.

Bruce takes Damian in, because of course he does, and since Jason is dead he allows Damian to keep using the code. After all, it’s not like Jason is alive to use it, right? If someone uses the code, there’s no one it could be but Damian, right?

The next time the code is used, Bruce traces the location to Gotham even though Damian was supposed to be in Bludhaven visiting Dick. But whatever happened that resulted in Damian being in Gotham can wait, because he has already failed one son and he will not fail another, his son is in trouble and he needs to get to him, he needs to—

What he finds, instead of Damian, is a boy (just eighteen, too young, but also too old, but also he will always be a boy to him) in League garbs, drenched in blood from the tips of his midnight-black hair to his too-large feet (when had he gotten so big), wearing the face of his dead son.

(Who, maybe, just maybe, may no longer be so dead.)

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in
