My heart is already hurting for Penelope. Obviously we talk about the one person she’s close with hates her for the fact that she is lady whistledown. I can’t even imagine the state of turmoil she’s gonna be in when she thinks telling Colin about Lady Whistledown is going to lead to the one person she can’t live without leaving her. Every fiber of Penelope is Colin. She cannot be without him.
#polin#bridgerton#the more I think about them the more my head hurts#obviously I’m excited#and I haven’t watched the part 2 trailer so I have no idea what going on#I’m going blind#as im writing this im crying

I have an extremely wild theory about the ending...
So...
PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT ME TO >>>POTENTIALLY<<< SPOIL SOMETHING FROM THE FINALE!!!!
I WARNED YOU!!!
I'm not going into too much details, since I don't have too much time because of my work. 😭
So let's start with Ekko:
We already know that the key character of Act 3 is him, whose unique ability is to turn back time. From the previous part, we also know that Jayce has tried to kill Viktor before, but every time so far, he has failed.
I think what Jayce and Ekko are trying to do in ACT 3: comes from the same root, but in very different ways – much like how their characters have always been, with parallels to each other throughout the series from the beginning. (the poster above is also telling)
We’ve also seen countless scenes from Act 3 that were quite significant hints... I haven’t pieced all the anchor points together yet, but my theory is that many characters will die in the final ARC — including Ekko, who will most likely make one last attempt to rewind time so the sisters can succeed.
We already have this screenshot from Reed. And It's from s2ep9. Behind Ekko it's some kind of machine, I believe it's a time machine, but not for rewind seconds, but for more... So much more. And they built it with Heimerdinger together.
This environment and this machine also appears in these scenes from the trailers:
Also in the recent teaser Vi says this.
I mean c'mon, It can't be more obvious than this at this point.
Also I noticed something while I rewatched this trailer:
https://youtu.be/Sl-xmZTH6GE?si=rW5vFHJUWm0ECD6p
Parallels and flashbacks were deliberately included. I think those will be the key points for the time travel.
The fate of the characters from a dramaturgical perspective... Well, I think many main character will die, What will make the stakes of the siblings' success even more important.
Yeah... Almost ALL characters except the sisters.
For example:
Caitlyn... I think Caitlyn may not die by Ambessa's hands but there is a possibility. But either way she will die. But one thing for sure: her final act will paves the way for the siblings to succeed. This makes her redemption arc finalized. Ambessa also planted this idea in Caitlyn's mind. Sacrifice . (Maybe the only thing truly worth learning from Ambessa about leadership, though not in the way Ambessa intended it to be understood.)
And for Vi... Yeah, she will watch yet another person she loves and cares about die. The Arcane writers seem to enjoy making her suffer....
Since the story revolves around the two sisters, they will finish the story, as they started.
THE LAST DROP
So the final scene probably will be about the sisters and the final sacrificing. Many say, Jinx don't need a redemption, but I think everyone deserves one in one way or another.
.
.
It has been hinted - or a fact from episode one that Jinx/powder ruins everything. She got her second name because of this. It's her character.
“Vi always used to say, I can fix anything... Before I broke everything.”
But why is it like this? What is it based on?
I think the 'last drop' will be foreshadowing of the first season, where she tried to save everyone, but nearly everyone ended up dying.
Why this would be any different?
I think what moslty form Jinx is how many people 'believe' in her.
Jinx and Powder, as appeared in a methaphore in Season 2, Episode 6, symbolize a coin with two sides. Both sides exist within her, but which side prevails depends on the events that unfold.
In Season 1, Episode 3, Vi allowed her heart to be influenced by the protective love she felt, which prevented her from trusting her sister.
That's why I believe that this will not just be Jinx's redemption, and not only will it rewrite her story, but also Vi’s. Vi, whose personality is so protective that she often doubts everyone else - (including Caitlyn), will have to learn to let go of this feeling and trust others, even if it means there's a chance her sister might die.
So what's my prediction?
So, if I wasn’t clear enough, (since English isn’t my native language and there are so many things in my head at all once that I want to express but I don't have time for more 😭)
My theory is that the siblings will eventually bring everyone back to life, but it will come at a cost, and I think Jinx will be the one to make that sacrifice.
But her death will not be a sad thing from her perspective, she will be finally free from the burden and suffering she felt, also she will be free from her demons as well.
.
.
As for the fate of the other characters I mentioned here, I can’t say for certain. Unfortunately, due to the 10-image limit, I couldn’t attach more visuals, but I believe Ambessa will die at the hands of the Black Rose. This is foreshadowed quite well in the intro: first, we see Ambessa crushing the rose, then a petal falls, but we don’t actually see her destroy it completely. Later, we see her daughter stepping in to take her place, reaching for the same rose while petals are scattered on the right-hand side, symbolizing Ambessa.
I think this story arc will continue in future *Arcane* series.
As for Sevika, it’s pretty clear that Viktor will transform her after her death and bring her back to life. That’s how she’ll end up with another cool new arm. (The new Sevika poster is literally titled “Armed and Ready,” by the way.) She’ll probably try to incite the Undercity against Piltover again, which is why we see in the trailer that Piltover is fighting Zaunite civilians.
My other theory for Sevika (Or a continuation of the above, perhaps a combination of the two. ) is that Singed will make her a new prosthetic to her... And it’s also possible that through Singed Savika will side with Ambessa.. Since Ambessa is very good at seeing what people need and how to manipulate them, she might offer Zaun's independence in exchange for her help.
From Corin Reveck’s side – He will succeed in bringing his daughter back to life (Orianna), and I think this is no longer in question... After nearly everyone in the series has suffered the consequences of his actions, directly or indirectly... One might hate this character, but he is the perfect example of someone who would do anything, sacrifice everything, and set the whole world on fire (and does) for the love of his daughter. He is fully aware that he has become a monster, but he doesn’t care.
From Viktor's perspective... I'm not sure what his story will be. Perhaps the fact that they’ve saved each other’s lives multiple times with Jayce will become a symbol that ultimately, they will end up taking each other’s lives together. At some point, there was a possible foreshadowing of this when the creators depicted a "Memento Mori" between the two characters in season 1, when they were at the place where they tried to jump separately. A "Memento Mori" is an optical illusion where the combination of various elements forms the image of a skull, symbolizing death and the transience of life.
Overall, please take all of the above writing as just a theory; many parts may not turn out this way, and in fact, nothing might happen as I’ve suggested. Have fun!
And yes, I know my post turned out quite long despite saying I don’t have time, but believe me, if I did have time, it would be about six times longer, with all the references and every thread detailed in full.

princess from afar.
gladiator 2 marcus acacius x female!princess reader.
author’s note: this idea came to me like a holy vision after watching like 100 gladiator 2 trailer edits of Pedro Pascal. god save us all when that movie is finally out. it will be feral girl hours!!! also MAYBE SPOILERS??? idk be careful x
small disclaimer: so... I haven’t had the pleasure of watching the first Gladiator movie, my apologies beforehand if anything is inaccurate lore-wise! I tried to go off what I knew of Ancient Rome and take inspiration from the movie and the sequel coming out later this year. I hope you all enjoy!
summary: you are a princess from far away visiting Rome under its new Emperors. the Roman General catches your eye, and you catch his.
warnings: gladiator-like violence.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
Your visit to Rome under its new twin Emperors has been eventful.
Your father and brothers were too occupied in your homelands to go themselves, leaving you as the sole candidate. Your father assured you plenty of times prior to departure that you were a perfect choice. Well-versed in languages and histories, practised in the arts and skills of diplomacy. You already had everything you needed to make it a successful visit, and establish a favourable relationship with Rome. Initially you had been nervous, understandably, your country’s standing with the most powerful empire on the planet came down to this visit, it weighed on your shoulders. But, upon arrival, the entire court of Rome, its government and its Emperors were inexplicably fascinated with you. Whether it was your beauty, which they had never witnessed before, or your personality or talents you could not say. Upon realising the hold you had over your hosts, you played everything to your advantage.
Dinner parties, festivals, meetings, trips into the city, you did it all with a smile and impeccable appearance. You had been accompanied by some of your loyal ladies, of course, who worked their magic each and every morning to ensure a flawless appearance greeted the court of Rome. You were mastering the art of diplomacy and playing your part, it was perfect. Then came the Colosseum. You were personally invited by one of the twin Emperors, Geta, to sit by his side and watch battles of all manner take place. Intrigued, as you did not have such a thing back home, you agreed. At first, you were shocked by the barbarity of it all, but upon seeing the joy it brought the crowds of spectators and the purpose it gave the fighters… you understood that it was another moving part of Rome and her empire. So, you applauded and followed the Emperor’s lead, which he loved. He was constantly seeking your company and favour, you felt yourself walking a dangerous line of a marriage proposal should you entice him too much. Such a thing would delight your father, but you weren’t so keen on your safety if you ever married the Emperor. There was just something about these types of men that made you keep your guard up.
After a few of these battles in the Colosseum, you grew to understand the addictiveness of watching and betting and waiting to see who came out on top. Some days wild beasts were released, other days it was man against fellow man. You saw enough blood and grime and hurt to last you a lifetime, but smiled through all of it when the Emperor glanced at you, grinning wildly. You had grown used to the intricacies of the glorious gladiator battles, and attended even when Geta had not personally sought you out to extend the invitation, as he now simply expected your presence at his side. It was on one of the Colosseum days that your visit would become even more intriguing.
You arrived that day fresh-faced, hair immaturely arranged, dress clean and jewellery gleaming in the sun. You had bathed in rose petals the night before and the smell danced around you as you greeted the Emperor and took your seat next to him. He kissed your hand, making eye contact with you before turning his attention to the Colosseum. The crowds were filling their seats, rows and rows of them all packed in trying to get a favourable view of the promised entrainment. A set of heavy footsteps behind made you turn your head, and you saw a man in white and gold, a sword at his hip, enter the Emperor’s box. You stood, a feeling deep down telling you that this man was important, as he approached. You had not noticed the spare seat next to the Emperor today, you should’ve known someone else was coming. The wide-shouldered, bronze-skinned man could’ve easily been mistaken for one of Rome’s Gods, you thought, watching him greet the Emperor. Then, the Emperor gestured to you.
“The beautiful Princess from afar, General Acacius. Isn’t she a sight to behold?” The Emperor’s eyes roved up and down your dress, and you feigned embarrassment. The General took your hand and kissed it, bowing respectfully as he did.
“Princess, forgive me. I was not informed of royalty accompanying the Emperor today. Do you mind if I join you both today for the entertainment?” You smiled prettily, eyes on his.
“Please, General, I am but a guest, you are Rome’s commander. Be welcome.” He nodded, taking his seat on the other side of Emperor Geta after you had sat yourself. Your hand was tingling with excitement from where he’d held and kissed it. For such a large, muscled man, he had a gentle touch. And he was so well dressed, rivalling yourself in his white and gold. He had golden leaves woven into his hair, brunette but speckled with grey. His beard was neat, trimmed. Your eyes lingered on his nose, a masterpiece carved by the Roman Gods themselves, surely. Your breath caught in your chest and you remembered yourself, fixing your attention on the Colosseum before you.
Though you tried to not give the handsome General too much attention, you felt his eyes lingering on you all the same.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
The fights were over, the crowds appeased, the sand of the Colosseum soaked with patches of blood and a few bodies. Geta had grown bored of the day and declared a feast to be held in the evening, all should attend. He swept away, guards following, and left you in the box bowing at his exit. The General’s warm eyes met yours when Geta was gone and he half-smiled.
“I suppose you shall be in attendance tonight, Princess from afar?” He asked, one hand on his sword, the other resting atop it.
“Of course, General. Will I see you there? You must be a busy man.” You replied, walking out of the box, holding your skirts up to take the steps.
“I will make my best efforts to attend, your Grace.” He bowed as you left, watching you go. He couldn’t fathom your existence, such beauty all in one person, such grace and softness. How could any man send you this far away on your lonesome? He gripped his sword hilt before relaxing and following you up the steps.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
You took to napping that late afternoon, then gossiped away with your ladies. They had just finished embroidering a gown that your father had sent along as a gift, and insisted that you wear it to please the Emperor tonight. They knew all of the goings on within the Emperor's palace, and for that you were thankful. They took out your hair, and agreed that a looser style would suit the intimacy of the evening feast. Precious gemstones were pinned into your hair, a reminder of your status as a Princess. The gown was arranged and fastened, you wore light slippers on your feet. Once the ladies had decided on appropriate jewellery and makeup, they finished by spritzing you with fresh rose water and then escorted you to the feast themselves. They, sadly, would not be joining you but would instead be waiting for you upon your return. You thanked them for their efforts, and they waved you into the dining hall, where the court was drinking and conversing in the candlelight as the feast was brought out.
Emperor Geta spotted you immediately. You obliged him and joined him in conversation with many different nobles and members of the court, though your Italian was good, sometimes you found some words did not quite translate in your head. You nodded instead and glanced at Geta with a radiant smile and a polite laugh if appropriate. You excused yourself for food and a wine refresh, glad for a moment alone where your brain could rest from translating entire sentences. Your smile dropped for just a moment and you wandered out to a balcony for real fresh air. Elbows leaning on the immaculate stone, you sipped your wine, staring out at the night sky and wondering if your family were awake or asleep back home. Were they thinking of you? You were thinking of them, always. When would it be time to go home? You put your goblet down and sighed, realising that you had put off these homesick thoughts by throwing yourself into life here in Rome.
“Princess,” You straightened up at the sound of someone’s voice approaching from the dining hall, then smiled in slight embarrassment when you saw the General carefully making his way out onto the balcony. “Peace and quiet at last.” He smiled, taking a place next to you on the balcony. He held no wine and carried no sword this time. He had changed into less golden attire, but it still made him look like a God disguised as a human.
“General Acacius, a pleasure to see you tonight.” You curtseyed and he bowed deeply, then took your hand and kissed the back lightly. His brown eyes caught you watching him with wonder on your face. “You are well versed in the ways of nobility and court, I am pleasantly surprised.” You said, trying to fill the air between you both. There was something about how he watched you so calmly, coolly, it set your insides alight.
“When you find yourself surrounded by certain types, you adapt.” He replied, leaning on the balcony with one arm, facing you.
“Not so different from a battlefield, I suppose?” You sipped your wine, eyes meeting his. He shook his head.
“Life is a battlefield, Princess, for everyone. Do you not find all of this a constant battle?” He glanced at the rowdy dining hall. You turned and made sure Geta wasn’t staring daggers at you, but he was nowhere to be seen. The crowd had grown somehow, and the feast was almost gone. You considered it all for a moment, before answering.
“I do see how one could view it as a battlefield, but I would not see myself as a warrior.” The General’s eyes widened, he grinned.
“I see you as a warrior, Princess, a valuable warrior. Do not diminish yourself, you may not be wielding a sword above your head, but your mind is just as sharp. I have heard stories of your visit so far, they love you. I fear you will never leave.” Though he meant it as humour, the thought of never leaving made you feel sick.
“Do you think I will ever go home?” You asked, suddenly desperate to hear someone say it. He searched your face, standing tall.
“Of course. You have a family awaiting your return, do you not?” The General’s hands folded before him. You nodded. “Who awaits you in your faraway land, Princess?” He asked, softly. You smiled at the stars.
“My father and brothers, General. You would enjoy them, if they ever visit.” The General stepped closer, admiring your little smile as you spoke of your family. His big hands took your wine from you and set it down. “He won’t keep me here will he?” You asked in a whisper, almost too scared to say it aloud. General Acacius studied your features for a heartbeat, then another. He could see the sadness hidden deep in your eyes, something many had never noticed in your time here. He saw the falter of your smile at the corner of your lips, even if for a moment. He had only met you hours before, but he found himself growing fond of you, the idea of you staying, but he knew it would only deepen your sadness.
“No, he is obsessive at times, but he will let you go. Your father would cross the seas for you, would he not, if you did not return?” You nodded and a little tear escaped your tired eyes. You wiped at it quickly, taking your wine from the General with a smile. You finished it and sighed.
“I think I shall retire for the evening, we are due back in the Colosseum tomorrow, are we not?” He stepped back, giving you space, and bowed. You curtseyed back, and he watched you reenter the dining hall. You slipped through the high energy crowd, making small apologies and nodding politely when they noticed you. Acacius wished he had told you to call him Marcus, he would tell you tomorrow, at the Colosseum.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
You took the long way back to your rooms, meandering around corners and admiring the architecture. You had so much to tell your father and brothers when you got back, you were hoping you remembered it all. Maybe writing it down somewhere would help empty your mind of all these thoughts of home? You saw your room at last, and slipped off your satin sippers. Picking them up, you heard a scuffle down the hallway. It was all darkness beyond your door, shadows seemed to move up there… No, it was the wine talking. You slowly stood, shoes in hand, hand to your head. Maybe forgoing wine in the future would be wise. You lay one hand on the door to open it, but felt the floor go out from under you, your weight was flung over and you were resting on someone’s shoulder. They started to run away from your door, so you screamed. You dropped your slippers as your kidnapper turned a corner, you heard your door open and your ladies' voices.
“Help me!” You called out again, before pairs of light, fast footsteps began following your screams. You struggled to free yourself from the grip of the person carrying you, they were turning corners and taking passageways you had never seen before. You kept screaming, but your ladies couldn’t catch up. They lost you, calling out your name and crying. You were thrown from the shoulder of your kidnapper to the floor, it was dark and dim down here in the bowels of the Emperor’s palace, the night air was cool. You felt your elbows gaze against tiles. Your kidnapper bent down, forcing a rag over your face, you struggled, nails digging into their wrist but with one inhale you lost all control of yourself and went dark.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
Sunlight streaming in on your face woke you up. It was bright, hot, you felt dry and sick. Pushing yourself up, you saw that you were chained in a cell, and could hear crowds roaring outside. Your head rolled, but finally steadied itself against the stone wall behind you. Your eyes were adjusting to daylight, you felt awful. You had just begun to recall the events of the night before when the sound of your cell unlocking and the appearance of a gladiator caught your attention.
“Good afternoon Princess. Ready for your grand entrance?” He smirked, hauling you up by your shoulder and forcing you to walk out of the cell. He steered you through small passageways, dimly lit except for stray rays of sunlight, you passed other cells with men chained up in corners. Your heart dropped, you were underneath the Colosseum. Was this the Emperor’s doing? Had he ordered you kidnapped for leaving the feast early without his permission? Had the General feigned friendliness only to arrange your kidnapping last night? You came to a room where all light was blocked by a gate, weapons were carelessly discarded, armour too. “Drink this, we can’t have you giving a bad performance for your Emperor.” Water was tipped down your throat, it spilt over your lips and down your neck, onto your dress.
“Did he order this?” You demanded, finding your voice. The gladiator’s eyes were dark, evil. He looked you up and down before speaking.
“No, it’s our little surprise to him, so put on a good show for us, Princess.” He approached the gate and banged with his fist three times, you heard the sound of hinges creaking, and sunlight filled the room. The gladiator hauled you up the slope and out into the very Colosseum you had been presiding over yesterday. The crowds were cheering wildly, unaware of who had just entered their arena. The gate slammed shut behind you, and you turned around, banging on it with chained fists.
“I have no quarrel with yourselves, or the Emperor, let me out of here at once!” You shouted, back to the gate. No voice came from the other side, your heart sank again. Hands chained and head on a swivel, you ran out to the centre of the Colosseum, hoping, praying that the Emperor would recognise you and order you saved.
You saw Geta stand, leaning over the Emperor’s box, then he started shouting. Movement in his box gave you a glimmer of hope that someone was coming to get you out of here alive. But then, the gates behind you opened again, and a stream of armoured men ran out, banging their armour and showing off their weapons. The crowd went berserk. You fell to your knees, realising your fate, and kept your eyes trained on the Emperor’s box. You thought of your father’s face when he was told the news by a prim and powdered envoy from Rome that his daughter had been slaughtered in the Colosseum. You prayed for good lives for your brothers, that they raise strong families that look after your homeland. The tears had started and you couldn’t stop them. You were hauled from your knees, your dress ripping and forced to stand.
“The Princess from afar will die for your entertainment today!” One of the gladiators yelled, displaying you to the crowds. Their cheers died down, and a ripple of confusion passed through them. You were released, and encircled by a half a dozen armoured gladiators with bloodthirsty expressions on their grimy, unshaven faces.
“You gain nothing from my murder, gladiator.” You spat, the anger beginning to take over. They laughed and brandished weapons of all manner. Swords, nets, daggers, tridents. “How can any of you stand there and murder a defenceless, chained woman, in full armour with sharp weapons in your hands? Have you no honour, no bravery? You fear a woman so greatly she must be killed in chains and unarmed? Cowards, all of you, a disgrace to your brothers!” You yelled, hoping that the words would buy you time. A few of the gladiators seemed uneasy as you spoke. Then, one strode forward, grabbed your chains and used his sword to shatter the link. Still cuffed, but now free to move your hands, he backed away, eyes on yours. “There is one brave enough to approach amongst you, at least.” You shook your hands and let the chains fall to your bare feet, burning in the sand.
A beat of hesitation from the others passed, before one gave in and ran at you, roaring. He held a long sword above his head, clad in armour, taller and broader than you. All you could see was one of your brothers charging at you with their wood practice swords as children, pretending to spear you rather than save you. You stood there, ready to greet death without the satisfaction of screaming or wailing, but at the very last moment you threw yourself aside and he missed. The crowd went up in a frenzy. His sword struck the sand and he looked over his shoulder at you, eyes tearing into yours.
Maybe you had decided not to die here.
He ran again, and you did the same, but you knew these gladiators were wise in strategy and learned their opponents' ways fast. He started swinging his sword at you, giving you little time to move out of the way, he caught your upper arms or dress where you were too slow, drawing thin lines of blood across your skin. Seeing the red made him hungry for more, and he did not relent in his attacks. You used the metal cuffs on your wrists to stop his sword taking your head off of your neck, and he grunted in anger, stepping back. The crowd were in uproar. He twirled his sword in his hand, idly, thinking as he surveyed you. You spotted a shorter sword sheathed on his hip, it would be madness to try and take it, he’d surely kill you at that distance, but you needed a weapon. You stood no chance of making it out alive or surviving until rescue if you had no weapon, you could only dodge and weave for so long, the other gladiators would be fiercer, more brutal, they were building up their stamina minute by minute.
The long sword narrowly grazed your side, you cried out and pressed a hand to your dress. It was torn open, bloodied already. Your hand came away red, your eyes widened. The gladiator’s shoulders were rolling, he wanted to land another hit. You had an idea, a wild one, but it would get you close to the short sword. You had to do it just right, you moved slower, hand pressed to your injured side. He swung again, missing, a second time, missing again. The third time you let him catch you again, and you went to your knees, crying out. The crowd booed, outraged. He grinned, ecstatic at the thought he was the first to face you and have you down on your knees injured, he approached, sword wet with your blood. His hand grabbed your chin, lifting it up to face him, you started up the tears again. “Just make it quick, you brute.” You hissed, panting. He grinned like a devil, lifting up his long sword, but as he went to swing down, you had his short sword unsheathed and drove it upwards to a gap where his chest armour didn’t cover his abdomen.
A wet sound, he stumbled, dropped the sword, took bumbling steps backwards. His face was a picture of shock, he fell dramatically onto his back, blood rushing from his new wound. You picked up the long sword, its weight foreign in your hand, and backed away from the body. The other gladiators all looked at one another in silence. The crowd, however, were anything but. You stood, eyeing up the five remaining gladiators. They watched their brother die and squirm, before looking back to you. Though they did seem reluctant to be the next to face you, they all closed in, weapons gleaming in the sunlight. Then the gate behind you opened, the one under the Emperor’s box. They all paused, and you half-turned to watch.
General Acacius came striding out, armoured up, sword in hand, the expression on his face was one carved from marble by the Roman Gods of war and death. His anger rolled across the Colosseum, his muscles strained as he stalked towards you and the five gladiators. He said nothing as he reached you, he did not spare you a glance, he made a straight-cut line for the remaining gladiators.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
Despite the fact you were openly bleeding from several cuts, your dress was a mess and you were devoid of your sunny smile, General Acacius was focused solely on the gladiators. You watched as the once reluctant men now fired themselves up with the promise of a real fight. But before you could run to the open gates, they encircled you and the General together, forcing you to back away from your escape route. The General surveyed the gladiators with a disgusted expression, and then it all happened at once.
All five gladiators charged, two at you, three at the General. While you had no doubts about the General’s capability to survive, you seriously doubted yours. You had no time to get any words out before one of the two was upon you, bringing a trident down, you raised your long sword with two hands and barely held him off, nearly going down to one knee with the effort. He backed away, the sharp prongs of the trident begging to be buried into flesh. Mouth dry, you watched the two gladiators exchange a look before the one wielding a long sword charged, you met him, not blow for blow but enough to keep him off of you. The General had already downed one of his gladiators and was onto the second and third. The crowd were cheering, chanting, stampeding in their seats. The trident flew past your head, landing in the General’s field of battle. Without hesitation, he picked it up, threw it back and met his attacker swiftly with his sword, never missing a beat. The trident had pinned the gladiator who owned it down, lodged in his arm, he struggled against the prongs. You felt sick.
The long sword came down at you again, you threw yourself out of the way, too tired to meet it with your own sword again. Your arms bled and ached from the weight of this weapon, you did not possess the same muscles as these men. You were not trained in the art of war, fighting other humans, or wielding weapons. Your brothers had tried to train you as children but your father had quickly intervened and warned them that you had no use for such things, as they would always be there to protect you. You wished dearly now that you had continued attending your brothers’ training sessions against your father’s orders. The sword narrowly missed your chest, you were shaking with the effort to breathe and move and fight all at the same time. You weren’t even sure your heart was still beating.
Your sword met his again, he was getting bored, tired of playing nice. You had to meet his blows to protect yourself, as tiring as it was. Your eyes scoured his armour for weak spots, a glimpse of vulnerable flesh… nothing. You took a few quick steps back, gaining distance, and time to think. Then the General downed his third gladiator, and turned to spot you warding off yours. The General advanced, sword slick with blood, but not before the gladiator rushed you and knocked you off your feet. He was atop you, sword poised to go through your chest, but not before you drove yours through his neck. The angle had given you the advantage, just. He rolled off of you, clutching at his neck, gargling on his own blood. He drowned before you, red spilling from his mouth and neck. His hands were covered in his own hot sticky blood, his eyes open as he died. You stood, covered in his blood, and watched as the General finished off the final gladiator who was pinned beneath his own trident like a fish.
You threw your sword aside, disgusted, horrified, on the verge of tears. General Acacius sheathed his own sword and ran to you. Without a word, he had you up in his arms, his nose in your hair.
“Are you hurt, Princess?” He asked, his voice low. You could barely make it out over the crowd’s collective cheering and celebrating.
“A little, General.” You said, clinging to his armour. He held you tight, making for the gate.

The Roman court and government were in an absolute outrage at your kidnap and torture in the Colosseum. Both of the Emperors ordered the gladiators and slaves brought before them to find the one behind it, but you were too sick to care. Whoever had been behind it had got their way, you were thoroughly shamed and defeated. You had survived, but at what cost?
The General took you straight to the physician. He stayed guarding the room as your wounds were cleaned, packed and dressed. Your beautiful embroidered dress was cut away, to be thrown on the fire. It was soaked in gladiator blood. You watched the General pace the room, hand gripping his sword, jaw set. It took time for the physician to do his work, but he was finally satisfied and allowed you to rest. The General, however, did not leave when the old physician did. He let you settle before speaking to you. You sat yourself up in the bed, thin sheets over your battered body. You had accumulated some nasty bruises from throwing yourself out of harm’s way.
“Princess…” He said softly, kneeling at your bedside. You looked at him with tear-stained eyes and a weak smile. “I will find who did this, they will pay. We will have their heads.” He said this with his head bowed, as if in prayer. You leaned down to him, your fingers lifting his chin. Your eyes met.
“You saved my life, Acacius, that is enough.” His eyes took you in, he thought of you as a star robbed of its starlight. A rose shaken free of its petals.
“Please call me Marcus, Princess.” You breathed deeply for a moment and nodded.
“Marcus, do not let your bloodlust cloud your judgement. I am alive, and I am grateful for that. I will return home when I am well.” His hands took yours, and he traced the back of them for a moment. The words hung in the air, unseen, unheard.
“Will you ever return to Rome?” He asked, holding your fingers out.
“I do not know, when my father hears of this… I could not say if I will be permitted to return one day, Marcus.” Your untidy hair fell in your face, finally freeing itself of its gemstone pins from the night before. Marcus reached up, gingerly placing the hair behind your ear. His touch was featherlight, as if he was scared you would shatter at any moment. He said nothing as he memorised the lines on the palm of your hand, red and sore from the long sword’s handle and weight. You sank further into the bed, watching him, his face. You wanted to paint it and frame it in your bedchambers at home, so you would never forget what he looked like.
He then placed the softest kiss on the back of your hand, then your wrist. Your body lit up like a bonfire, like the moon and stars on a dark night, and he looked up at you.
“If you do not return, will you let me remember you?” He asked, taking in the faded scent of rose from your wrist. It was washed away by sweat and blood and hot water now, but he knew it lingered, lest it be his imagination.
“I would want you to remember me, as I will remember you.” You replied eventually, he appeared relieved at this, and suddenly raised himself up to your bed, inches above you. He paused, eyes flickering to your lips, then back to your eyes, your hair. “Do it, I will not regret it.” You whispered, eyes on his lips. With all of the care in Rome, he gave you your first and last kiss, he touched your hair, the side of your face. When he pulled away, he looked down, eyes avoiding yours. “When I go, will you see me?” You asked, voice tight.
“I would not miss it for the world, Princess from afar.” He quickly kissed your head, your wild hair, before withdrawing from your bed and taking himself out of your room.
: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛: ̗̀➛
You would see him once more when you departed for home with your ladies. Emperor Geta made a grand show of escorting you to the docks and seeing you board your ship bound for your homeland. It had been such a long time, it felt, since you had seen your father and brothers. Geta was sending you with heaps of gifts and treasures for your family, partly as a show of your efforts, and partly as an apology for your kidnap. When the General approached to say his goodbye, kissing your hand firmly with eyes closed, he slipped you something, which you hid down the front of your dress and didn’t open until the ship was sailing.
In your hands now lay a simple gold chain with the retrieved gemstones from your hairpins dangling from it. You smiled to yourself and slipped the necklace on, closing your eyes and wondering if one day you would return to Rome and see him again.

Collecting some thoughts on veilguard cause tbh I really don’t know how to feel lmao so. Unstructured ramble time
I’ve watched the trailer and the demo and I feel very. Idk? Still ‘wait and see’ mode for me. It’s been 10 years. Inquisition imo was the weakest of the 3. And while I have kind of moved on from DA there is a part of me that wants this to just blow everything out of the water and be amazing. I’m just not sure if that’s what I think will happen. Right now, I just think it doesn’t feel dragon age-y enough (in terms of what I, personally, consider the defining traits of the series) but I don’t want to jump to conclusions with so little information
The trailer was. Fine. Vibes were a little off but given its Varric narrating, it makes sense (also. Unpopular opinion lmao. I love Varric but I don’t think he should be a companion again. If there’s a carry over companion, it should have been Dorian. And tbh he could still be there, considering they said 7 companions but Varric is not included in that. So did they mean 7 *new* companions and maybe a few others? Advisors again maybe? Idk. Maybe Varric is a temporary companion, but I don’t think he should be there except maybe as a cameo. Scout Harding is an unexpected but fine carry over though). I don’t really have an opinion yet on the companions themselves cause there’s just. Nothing to base an opinion on other than the character designs
Gameplay demo shows that they’re definitely going very Inquisition-y. As in, continuing further down the path it started. Which isn’t unexpected, but is a bit disappointing, though not necessarily a dealbreaker as of yet. It’s probably smart tbh to go more in an action rpg direction than back to the crpg roots given it’s going to be compared to bg3 no matter what they do - better to differentiate as much as possible. Though I don’t think that’s why they did it, probably more a happy accident. I just. Idk, I found inquisitions combat a bit boring and I haven’t been impressed by what I’ve seen yet. But a 20 minute demo is probably not enough to really form an opinion
I feel like you can still see the echoes of this being a live service game at one point too. Healing potions coming from pots found in the environment (I never got over healing spells being cut btw lmao, bring back spirit healers already), the “ability wheel” (unsure about that too, given it sounds like we can’t control companion characters anymore? Kinda really don’t like that :/), stuff like that. I still feel like DA2 combat was the perfect balance between fluidity and strategy but it is what it is. It performed badly, so they’ve disregarded it wholesale rather than consider that some aspects of it may still be worth exploring. It sucks, but that’s capitalism I guess
As for all the other little things, idk, I really am not sure what to think yet lmao. Some sound good. Some less good (why only 2 companions, I don’t like that at all - also weird that the demo shows you won’t have a tank for the initial bit of the game. That’s a weird choice). Nothing to make me go aaaaaa either positively or negatively yet. I don’t even know what to say. My feelings are just so complicated about it, but also kinda empty at the same time. Like. It’s a bit of kombucha girl meme but also muted? I would like to feel just. More about it. But I don’t yet. I’m too unsure. Not quite numb, but almost tbh
At this stage, I feel like I’m gonna wait till it comes out and see what happens. No pre-ordering until I get a better idea. It’s like. With origins, I’ve played it a lot. DA2, even more - countless times lmao. Inquisition though, I played 2.5 times immediately after release and have tried to play it multiple times since but. I only ever get 10-20 hours in before I get bored and can’t make myself continue. I’ve tried many, many times and idk why but I just can’t do it. I never even played any of the DLC, so like. I kinda need to do that first if I’m gonna play veilguard but I have never succeeded before so idk how I will now lmao. But I feel like at least trespasser is necessary and I have genuinely never played it. And I gotta play the rest of the game first to get there and I genuinely don’t know if I can sksksjs
And with that in mind like. If inquisition is that unappealing to me, a game that feels very inquisition-y, potentially leaning even more into the stuff I didn’t like about it, is. Definitely not what I was hoping for. It’s still possible it’s leagues better than inquisition and actually playing it will be a great experience. But right now I just don’t know. I probably won’t be able form any kind of opinion until it comes out and I start getting info from trusted folks that I know have good DA opinions lmao
Idk. I’m not trying to be a wet blanket or a hater, and I genuinely don’t think I am being a hater at all, but I am just. Very tired and nervous. But also cautiously hopeful. I’ve said ‘idk’ a lot lmao but I truly don’t know at this stage. I guess we’ll see. Let’s hope it’s actually amazing and the very thing we need to make the series as a whole feel like it used to for us lapsed DA fans
#and this isn’t even getting into like#the usual bioware complaints of their inconsistent lore and unequal treatment of characters#and the retconning and the bad grey morality bs#and the crunch culture and other shit they do as a company#and the layoffs and everyone who quit#I’m trying to not even consider any of that right now lmfao#idk just some complicated feelings I needed to express#gonna reblog stuff though#the gifsets and stuff are pretty lmao#text#dragon age#shut up nerd#veilguard

My TADC Predictions
Okay, quick disclaimer here:
Everything I say in this post is purely speculation and is in no way being demanded to become canon. All of these are open to be incorrect upon future releases of the show’s episodes, and nobody should get upset over whatever that is said in this post being wrong. This is Gooseworx’s show, not mine. I am only a fan doing fan theories. Please harass no one.
Okay now that this is out of the way, what do I predict for this shows plot?
Well, I can safely say that I am not 100% sure on anything, as I do want to be surprised. I was with Episode 2 for sure. But the episode also gave me some ideas.
Let’s start with the episodes themselves:
Gooseworx confirmed that Episodes 3-6 are character centric episodes. They also said that this was NOT meant to be a mystery show but rather a character focused show.
So I think it is safe to say that we will, for the most part, have to WAIT for answers on the outside world and the mysteries of the circus itself. We won’t get answers for awhile.
As for what I think the answers are, more on this later.
So, at the very least, Episodes 3-6 are episodic adventures designed by the circus. Which while character development carries over (I would hope so), the adventures themselves are self contained. So we likely won’t be seeing the Candy Canyon Kingdom again.
Maybe Episode 7 is also in this category. Idk.
Due to the show being based off ‘I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream’, all of this would make a lot of sense.
And I will say it right now, from Episode 3-6, Pomni is taking a backseat.
She’s the main character. She’s been the main focus of the first two episodes, and she’ll undoubtedly be important for the last act of this show. But it makes sense to me that she takes a backseat role in these episodes and leave the focus character of these episodes as the main driving forces.
I’m NOT saying she’ll have absolutely nothing to do or get zero character development in these episodes. She could play a part in the other’s development in SOME cases, and it would suck if Episode 2’s ending became meaningless by having her not work on warming up to the others at all.
BUT other than that, yeah, these episodes are going to be primarily focused on the characters Gooseworx listed to be.
Maybe Pomni will finally see the monsters.
Or get zombie infected in Episode 3, who knows.
The side characters:
In a trailer, we saw more of these characters being revealed. And thanks to Episode 2, it’s far safer to assume that these guys are episodic characters, with a FEW exceptions.
While I think these characters are gonna play a bigger purpose when discussing NPC’s, they are episodic exclusive.
The only exceptions I can think of so far are Orbsman and GummiGoo.
Orbsman I think is making their debut in Episode 3. But I also think he’s going to be one of the biggest gag characters in the show. From how they market them as ‘everyone’s favorite character’.
Basically, I think they’re gonna be like that elf from Majorca’s Mask (I forgot his name). A gag character you always run into with a very out there concept.
As for GummiGoo, I don’t think he’s dead. Or dead as in ‘gone forever.’
Otherwise, why make a plushie of him?
(Or maybe they make plushies of dead characters all the time. Idk, I haven’t watched Murder Drones yet)
BUT I dont think he’s coming back in Episode 3. I actually think it’ll be awhile before this character comes back.
The most soon I can see his return coming is in Episode 7. And I think it will be anything but pretty.
There’s a theory that GummiGoo got his memories erased when Caine snapped him, which I do like in the sense that there are permanent consequences and to establish the harsh reality of the discrimination of the NPC’s. So yes, I do see this becoming entirely possible.
I think this characters memory erasure will be used for Pomni and Caine’s development respectively. I also see this character playing a role in the established world building that is the NPCs.
What we know about NPCs so far is that they are programs Caine created, to the point where they worship Caine as god (I’ll bring this up later). All of their backstories and memories are fake. As they are merely programmed obstacles created to be used for the human players sick enjoyment.
And Caine has trouble keeping track of who’s a human and who’s an NPC, so he segregated the two because ‘who knows what could happen’. (Again, more on that later)
This show really subverted me with its second episode, so I will still do that with this case. In most amnesia case scenarios, the character would eventually regain their memories as though they were never lost.
I don’t think this will happen to GummiGoo. I think he’s NEVER getting his memories back.
In that sense, it would be more so the case that GummiGoo himself is a tragedy.
I can also see that very tragedy being the awakening of an NPC rebellion, especially if the NPCs are prominent in future episodes. They snap and go ‘No Caine, NPCs are people too and deserve to have a life!’
Especially if the game was say, originally designed for advanced AI to live like people within the game.
It really depends if the other characters bond with NPCs on whether it’s all of them that agree to this, or just Pomni.
Anyway, the Episode 3 discussion:
Simply based on the teaser, it would make no sense for the ghost things to appear in a late episode unless they’re REALLY trolling us. (Which could totally be possible)
So maybe Episode 3 is this haunted mansion adventure as it’s episodic adventure.
Gooseworx also said this was their favorite episode. And that it was darker than the previous two. That speaks for itself.
As for what they’re possibly talking about… I don’t know. I’m actually stumped there.
But what we do know right now is that this is a pairing episode of Zooble and Kinger.
This does worry me, I’ll admit. Zooble is a character that gets rather little screen time already that pairing them with another character with more story potential in their episode sounds like admitting defeat.
I do hope I’m wrong though.
Zooble:
Zooble is the character so far that I am the most skeptical about. Mostly because if their lack of screen time thus far. And like I said, them sharing an episode with someone else does not help.
With that said, I do want to give the benefit of the doubt and say their lack of contribution to the plot thus far is intentional and there’s more going on than what meets the eye.
I do think, no matter what, Zooble is playing a role in this episodes adventure. And if they refuse, Caine will just throw them in. And they will play a very prominent role in that episode.
First off, I think this episode will be the confirmation of Zooble’s identity. As in, what pronouns they use. Because so far, it is all over the place in the show. Either way, I definitely feel like this character is supposed to be trans and/or gender-fluid.
Do I think this will be Zooble’s main focal point of characterization? Not really. Whether or not it’s trans rep, I like the idea of it just being a casual preference they have. It’s a great way to normalize trans-rights in this show without being preachy. While also being trans-rights because that’s something the world definitely needs. (Especially where I’m from)
The other thing is Zooble refusing to go on these adventures. The obvious reason could be characterization that ‘they’re lazy and a moody person who doesn’t like to contribute to anything involving peers’.
So if Zooble’s mental complication is dysphoria, if it’s not gender dysphoria it’s social dysphoria. Maybe it’s both.
(You’ll find that I am theorizing all the characters to be going through something)
It is a valid route to take for that character.
But I also think it’s the less interesting route.
There’s a theory that Zooble is a spy, as in, they know more about the circus than they let on and are self defending with that information. Which I do like, and could see being possible.
It would also somewhat justify the duo episode because it would give Zooble more of a role in the future. Whether that’s as an anti-hero type character or a jerk-ish ally.
So basically, they’d be the ‘heart of gold’ character everyone thought Jax was gonna be until Episode 2 crushed that.
Zooble could be someone who knows more about the circus than they originally let on, such as hacks or secrets to the maps, but they don’t share this information with anyone else because A) What would Caine do to them? B) While they do care about the others enough to set up a funeral for Kaufmo, they aren’t exactly open to letting people in their lives or asking for help.
You know, unless their own life is put in jeapordy.
Again, social dysphoria thing.
(There’s also the Pilot in terms of this discussion. They got eaten by the Gloink Queen but didn’t turn into a Gloink. So like, what if they used a hack code to save themselves? And/or what if they used that as an opportunity to learn what makes the NPCs tick?)
This would also make them a foil to Kinger in the episode, as Kinger would be the one who IS open to letting people in his life, but mentally cannot. And so far Zooble has seen Kinger as the least reliable out of everyone (He failed to save them from the Gloink Queen and they made a comment about how they thought Kinger would be next).
Speaking of Kinger:
Okay, so Kinger is definitely a plot important character. I think we can all agree with that.
In the previous two episodes there just wasn’t enough of Kinger that made me completely latch onto him. Which is why I haven’t made a post on him. But I do feel like Episode 3 will change that because…
Yeah we’re learning about him.
As for what I do think about him: He’s a good guy. He’s trying to help. He’s like the cooky old guy of the group that wants to be of assistance and is very knowledgeable but fails to due to his mental illness.
That mental illness likely being schizophrenia.
What this basically is is a disconnect from reality. You see things that aren’t there, you hear things that weren’t said, and vise versa.
It’s a mental disorder that is in need to be looked at by a professional because patients can be so disconnected from reality that they can’t function.
And Kinger has multiple of these symptoms as he hears things that weren’t said, forgets things almost instantly, and does irrational actions without much thought.
So basically, Kinger is psychotic.
A misinterpretation of that word is ‘dangerous and crazy’. But that is not what that word means at all. So NO, I’m not claiming Kinger is evil or crazy. He’s smart. He knows what he’s talking about. But he IS mentally ill.
That, or altzheimers. But I don’t think he’s old enough to get that.
Now, in some characters cases, it’s difficult to pinpoint if some characters obtained these illnesses from the circus or if they had them before the circus. Depending on the character it could vary.
I’m inclined to believe Kinger’s case is the former, as he has been here the longest, and Jax says specifically “That’s why he’s crazy”.
But what exactly drove him to be that way?
The first theory I have is HOW long exactly Kinger has been here.
And I said this theory in a post before.
But basically, Kinger was not only here the longest, but he was also one of the ORIGINAL tester players of the game.
Him, along with other people.
Again, in that other post, I said that Caine accidentally killed a human player and that’s why they’re programmed to segregate humans and NPCs.
This would require the Digital Circus to originally be designed to have advanced AI that interacted with the players. But because of this tragedy, they had to abandon the project and deem it as malicious software, or ‘malware’.
So not only did Kinger witness this exact event to one of his companions and co-workers, but he also witnessed the abstraction of that dead co-worker that caused the other players to never leave the circus.
From there, not only would Kinger suffer massive survivors guilt, but also be here FAR longer than we could imagine, and he had to witness ALL of his friends succumb to abstraction.
Including Queenie. Who in no doubt was THE closest to him. And I can totally imagine getting a Kinger flashback of him witnessing her abstraction.
I don’t know what exactly his relationship was with Queenie. People have suspected she may have been his wife or girlfriend, but Gooseworx had confirmed there was no romance in the show.
This could either be them stretching the truth and forgetting the ‘that you see on screen’ part.
Or they are very legit here. Which in that sense, she could just be his best friend. There doesn’t have to be romantic subtext to it.
Either way, we are definitely going to know more of Kinger’s backstory at some point.
There’s a theory that Kinger at some point will be the next one to abstract.
But… I think that would be way too obvious.
Yeah, he’s old and been here a long time. But if that’s the only reason he would have abstracted a long time ago.
There’s definitely SOMETHING in his brain that is preventing him from ‘the breaking point’.
Along with Jax, who I will talk about later, Kinger is ‘insane’. But that might not be defined as ‘the breaking point’ for him.
Ragatha described abstraction as ‘starting to question who you are and why you’re even alive’. Which makes abstraction sound and seem like it is portrayed as a ‘mental suicide’.
So Kinger’s insanity in particular is NOT plaguing him with suicidal thoughts. He already lost EVERYTHING at this point and in other circumstances would be abstracted. But instead he keeps going and keeps a hold of a reason to live.
What is that reason? We don’t know yet.
But it could also be a subconscious decision he makes to detach himself from the reality of his situation. He’s so disconnected from reality that he’s only living in fantasies now.
It’s… very tragic of a fate for him.
So I really DON’T see Kinger abstracting. I believe that would be a very predictable route to take this character.
If any character is gonna abstract, I feel it would be someone else. More on that character later.
Also he was a bug tester. I don’t think I need to explain that one. Everyone and their mothers made that theory already.
Gangle:
I will say, Gangle is the one I have the least to say about out of the six. As I think this character has the least amount of relevance to the main plot and whatever twist that comes.
That said, doesn’t mean she’s gonna be a bad character. At best, I can see her being a very solid, entertaining character with strong development that is blatant.
That said, Gangle is definitely the major focus of Episode 4 as it is the episode of the most character discovery for her.
I definitely want them to explore her two masks with this episode, as so far we’ve seen little to none of the comedy mask.
I don’t hate the running gag or anything, but I think they should build on it is all I’m saying. Otherwise it gets stale and the character just becomes the gag.
With the masks, I definitely see it as a visual for bipolar disorder.
If that is the case, then seeing more of her comedy mask is vital to get that point across.
Gangle is also characterized as a bit of a dork and a massive pushover in Episode 2. With the figurines and the ‘submissive and agreeable’ line. Which made me think ‘Wow, I might like this character far more than I thought I would’.
But that latter line gave me huge Angel Dust flashbacks. With both being Episode 4 and all that. But I don’t think Gangle’s past was THAT horrific.
Still, I heavily imagine Gangle is one of those characters who had a very rough life before the circus and even now is someone who can’t stand up for herself.
I can see a positive character arc for her where she grasps her mask concept better, figure out more about herself, and come out a better and more confident person.
Not the deepest arc in the world, I know, but it’s all in execution. And I can totally see that character development carry over to later episodes. Like, say, she stands up for herself against Jax and doesn’t put up with his bullying anymore. That’d be satisfying.
But that is all I’m really expecting of Gangle as of right now. Just a really solid side character.
Ragatha:
Okay now we’re talking!
I love Ragatha. She’s by far one of the sweetest characters in a world of such hopelessness. And yet her own struggles with connecting to the people around her is so real and so relatable to me. Despite being so sweet, she feels like a real person and doesn’t come across as naive.
With that said… yeah I don’t think she’s getting a happy ending.
No doubt I think they’re setting up a character arc for Ragatha. While yes she is very positive and reassuring all things considered, it’s those same traits that make her very pushy and not very understanding to what the people around her need.
There’s also the hint Gooseworx gave about the ‘evil Ragatha’.
From my understanding, this is due to the nightmare image of her in Pomni’s nightmare.
So two things I could imagine this being:
1: This is part of the Episode 5 Adventure that involves an Evil AI Clone of Ragatha. Making the episode about introspection on her end on who she could be if she doesn’t accept her more negative emotions.
Or 2: This is metaphorical and foreshadowing Ragatha being a traitor.
This is part of biblical text and symbolism MANY people have pointed out already. And I will do as well.
In text, Judas Iscariot is the figure that betrayed Jesus Christ. He betrayed him FIVE times actually. (Episode FIVE???)
If Zooble is a spy, then suspicion would fall onto them as a traitor among them. And Jax would be too obvious of a candidate.
But I think if this were to be the case, Ragatha would be influenced into this malicious role due to a negative character arc set up for her.
We all rave about how anxious Pomni is, but so is Ragatha, who is also suffering this very common mental illness. It’s just not as in your face. And if left untreated, she could start to make very irrational choices over a paranoia that she’d end up completely alone in the end.
So her betrayal may be having to do with them finding a potential answer that would help them leave the circus, but she destroys it because it would mean they’d leave her.
That, or she’d be possessed by Satan… who Im predicting would be Jax in this case. Idk who else it would be that’d influence her.
While I do not think this would happen in her focus episode, I do think that at some point in the latter half of the show, Ragatha abstracts.
Whether that’s out of guilt for her betrayal of the others, or just simply being unable to take it anymore as a failure of the job she set out to do (as a caring figure and the heart of the group), she is burying a LOT of trauma and negative emotions and sweeping them under the rug and bottling her up. That is definitely gonna bite her later.
So yeah, if any character is going to abstract, my bet is on her.
Would be this be a PERMANENT abstraction ‘death’?
It really depends if they find a way to undo abstraction after such. But that’s a huge 50/50 that’s even going to end up being possible. That could go either way.
And if Ragatha doesn’t abstract, she almost does, but then someone saves her before she can.
Jax:
Ah, here it is. The character everyone wants me to talk about…
And I have already.
So, my Jax take is pretty interesting compared to some other Internet folks I’ve seen so far.
I actually didn’t find him all that interesting in the Pilot. Hot take I know. He wasn’t bad or anything, I was just far more compelled by the world building and Pomni’s struggle at the time.
It was actually the second episode that hooked me on his character because “Holy sh*t this guy is a maniac and I am here for it!!”
I mean, Gooseworx already confirmed that Jax is the morally worst character in the show and there was nothing heroic about him. Idk what more you want me to say.
Now with that said, do I believe this and that he will, indeed, be a major driving force of conflict?
Yes.
Do I think he’s a one dimensional evil bastard?
No.
Hear me out.
While I don’t believe Jax will ever be ‘redeemed’ per say, I do believe an explanation for his behavior is warranted AND there are hints that there’s a bit more complexity to his mindset.
I mean, he didn’t show up to Kaufmo’s Funeral, but showed pity when it was mentioned.
As for what exactly this explanation is, it’s actually something I’ve heard a lot of people say before.
He’s aware this is a video game.
The NPCs are just that. They don’t have lives. This world is designed to have zero consequences. So you can do whatever you want in that context.
So Jax takes advantage of that.
We only don’t agree with him because we saw in Pomni’s POV that the NPCs are more than their design.
Everyone here has their own coping methods in a world like this and Jax is no different. It would be INSANE if he had no care.
There’s not enough evidence yet, but I believe he USED to care about the human players at the very least, (reaction to Kaufmo’s Funeral and all of that), but after several losses, decided to screw any sense of care he had.
His fault. But still.
I already made a post about Jax having low empathy (and y’all said I was crazy before Episode 2 came out) so I’ll be brief.
Jax cares about absolutely no one here and is perfectly willing to sacrifice them if it means amusement. The only reason he hasn’t terrorized the circus yet is because that would be boring if there was nobody to poke at.
While low empathy doesn’t equal ‘bad person’, in Jax’s case, he feels no care, but it’s his own actions that lead to sociopathy as a personality disorder.
Donny from Rise of the TMNT has low empathy but you don’t see him committing candyland genocide for the lols.
If I had to predict his past, I would say he was a malware publisher.
He has keys to everyone’s rooms after all. Maybe that’s symbolism that he hacks into peoples personal info with his viruses?
So basically, he was a terrible criminal in his human life and that carries over here. At least in the circus there’s no consequences.
His development might be a complete negative character arc. He’s the anti-Pomni.
Where Pomni learns to connect with the others and that she’s not alone, Jax shuts out everyone until he is truly alone and no one would ever support him.
As for what Jax’s ‘point of no return’ action is. It might have something to do with Ragatha if she becomes a traitor. Maybe he’s the one to persuade, maybe even force her to destroy their hope of an exit.
He’s Satan, then.
Cause it would be easy to say the action is a circus genocide or circus domination. But that would not work on getting the audience to hate Jax. Making a character hateable is making them do personal things that would offend both the characters and the audience. And forcing one of the nicest characters in the show to turn for the worst would be an example of that.
And I already made a post about why think the ‘Jax is an NPC’ theory is wrong. That was speculation that had been thrown around even before FilmTheory made their video, but my post so happened to come out around the same time so it was pretty perfect.
And if you’re curious about my thoughts on the recent video they made about Digital Circus? (Pomni being an NPC) To say that didn’t convince me is an understatement. You can literally contradict it with one basic fact: WE. SAW. HER. SPAWN.
ANYWAY,
I’m also calling that image of Jax becoming an abstraction hybrid is fake.
I mean come on. Why would a dead character get a focus episode after their death?
Either this is a nightmare, or he snaps and comes close but gets saved.
Because Episode 2 had the same thing as the former, I’m assuming the latter is more possible.
Either way, Jax is a surefire antagonist that will only get worse as the show goes on. There will be an explanation for his behavior at some point, Episode 6 even being a day in his POV, but none of it will in any way excuse his behavior or even make him remotely sympathetic.
But is he ‘the main villain’ of the show?
In my opinion, no.
Oh he’s still an antagonist. And a bad person. But final boss? No.
Actually, I don’t there there is a ‘main villain’ of the show:
At most, I see there being Episodic Villains like the Gloink Queen. And of course Jax being Jax. But in terms of a main villain that needs to be defeated, I don’t see this show pulling that off.
Unless they do.
This show works very well as a bunch of real people going through their emotional baggage’s. And if anything, the setting is the villain.
At most, you could argue Caine is the main villain. We all hate what he did to GummyGoo. But Gooseworx confirmed he’s not evil.
There’s a difference between an ‘antagonist’ and a ‘villain’. ‘Villain’ implies the character is evil.
It’s clear that Caine has certain beliefs, or rather, programmed to believe.
I said this theory before in a post so I’ll just state it.
I believe that Caine is an AI self insert of one of the two creators of the game.
And at most, if I am correct about Caine and Jax, then the closest thing to a ‘main villain’ would be C&A, the corporation behind the Digital Circus. That would include its employees, but I don’t think they’ll be actual ‘characters’ and would more so be ‘talking points’. Hell, I highly doubt we’re ever gonna see their faces, or any of the characters human selves.
I cracked a joke of ‘What if the humans were ACTUALLY live action?’ And it will be INSANE if that ends up happening.
There were two creators of the game, one who would make an AI self insert to be the host that would become Caine, and the other would be the first human player in the testing room, and that player would be named Abel.
The game was designed in the 1990s to be an interactive VR game that would be revolutionary for innovation, the AI both deciding the players avatars and making immersive NPCs to cooperate with the players.
When test players then came in, with one of them being Kinger, and so far, the game has been a success and been distributed. Kinda like that one virus disguised as a gorilla mascot.
(I DO NOT OWN THIS SCREENSHOT, NOR DID I BREAK ANY DEVICE)
That is until bitterness stirred from the two company owners. The one working the game from the outside became envious and got consumed by greed and spite towards the game not being exactly their imagining. The other one, the human player, then began to immerse themself with a different side to the game, a world where the NPCs began to act like real people, with real aspirations and shortcomings that of a person. And they realized that there was much more to what they were creating than they originally thought. So both in game and in real life, Abel tried to bond with the NPCs as though they were real players.
And of course that got more attention.
So in a bitter action of irrationality, the head used Caine to ‘delete’ Abel while he was in the game. Remove him from the server so he can’t mess up the project.
What ended up happening instead was not only that Abel died in real life to brain damage, but the player version of Abel ABSTRACTED upon the murder.
The abstraction caused a glitch in the program itself, making it so that any player that got in the game could NEVER leave.
Which is how Kinger and the other bug testers and players at the time got trapped there.
And well, the actual MURDER of one of the company heads and its employees suddenly being unable to leave a video game would NOT fly under the radar.
As just like the biblical text, the murderer would be punished. Both the A.I version of Caine, and the human version of Caine.
A.I Caine had to deal with the permanent consequences of the human players being trapped in the circus forever, with him trying and failing over and over and OVER again to save these players from abstraction. As they would begin to do so due to their mental instabilities in the unstable digital program, also killing them.
Human Caine would cause the entire company he built to be taken in a dark turn. They fired him, and he went to prison, and then the Digital Circus was from then on deemed negatively.
From then on, The Amazing Digital Circus would be deemed ‘Malware’. A dangerous virus where any user that got their hands on the program would be trapped in the game forever. As such, it was not only taken from shelves, but would fade into obscurity to the point where the 21st century barely heard of the game.
Of course, that didn’t stop some people from getting their hands on the malware and being too naive to see the warning signs.
Ragatha as, very likely, an older sister to a family or a teacher that tried to help a minor, relative or not. Jax as a virus creator himself who was just testing illegal malware for the lols. Gangle as a shy and closed off theater kid who just wanted a way to therapy without actually going. Zooble as a college dropout artist with dreams and ambitions and got lended the wrong hands. And Kaufmo. And every other player that fell for the trap of the malware.
I mean, you and I know malware is unsafe and no one should use it. But some people are either ignorant or stupid.
They all paid the price.
Obviously all these players got into the game at different times. We know this for certain. Kinger was one of the original players. Then it’s Ragatha, Jax, Gangle, Zooble, and you know who. Gooseworx confirmed this order.
But I mentioned that Kinger was a C&A Employee. There’s another character I strongly believe is one.
Pomni.
There’s a reason I claim the people from C&A are Kinger and Pomni and not anyone else.
It’s not just because of the evidence others have pointed out (Kinger mentioning bugs, his knowledge on how the place works, and Pomni looking as though she recognized the desk in the office scene, and her also knowing how the place works) , but it also has to do with their designs.
Notice how both of them are the only two who have a design theme that centers around royalty.
The King & The Jester.
And if Queenie was also an employee this drives the point even further home.
And since C&A created the game, that would make it the kingdom of this world. So of course the game would make them look like roles in royalty.
Anyway, Pomni. Whereas Kinger was a 90s employee at C&A, Pomni was a modern day employee.
We already mentioned biblical text. Caine being Caine the first murderer, Jax being Satan, Ragatha being the traitor… you know where I’m going with this.
Yes, there is the theory that the show uses biblical subtext and Pomni is this show’s equivalent of Jesus Christ. And it is HILARIOUS.
But I do have incredibly mixed feelings on it.
On the one hand, it does make sense in biblical context and for ‘I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream’ if you know the fate of the MC in that story.
On the other hand, it is a very risky direction to take. Not saying the writers can’t pull it off or I don’t trust them to pull it off. But if they go at it as though Pomni is a chosen one meant to save the others and the peak of moral hood in the shows lore, it would ruin her character.
I think Pomni works way better as a regular woman that is just as flawed and uneasy as the people around her, if not more so. But that’s my opinion.
As such, I feel like the show works way better as a character that is not a chosen one or doing all these good deeds for a purpose, but is just… a normal person.
So with C&A, 2023, we enter human Pomni. An accountant working at the C&A office for minimum wage. She doesnt have a life outside of her miserable job. No friends. No after work activities. No nothing. She just goes through the motions of life like there’s nothing else.
Maybe she has some college degree for game design, but no one recognized it, so it seemed pointless to pursue any dream in it.
She suffered major depression and generalized anxiety disorder her entire adult life, and by 25, she’s lost all hope that her existence means anything.
What’s her entire existence if it’s just working 9-5? (See what I did there?)
I also made a prediction in a previous post that the human that had Caine as a self insert is Pomni’s parent. So that adds another context to it whether it’s true or not.
And then on a slow day of browsing, she stumbled across information on ‘The Amazing Digital Circus’. Which was listed as a malware that’s killed several people as well as their devices.
She learns through her research that it was a project meant to take people into an immersion of another world of wonders and endless fun.
And as someone who got into games to immerse herself with fantasies and escape from reality as a kid with parental issues (If ‘human Caine’ is her dad), it was the exact thing she needed.
So late at night, Human Pomni snuck into the office to find the tech of the Digital Circus that got abandoned in the back long ago.
But rather than have any intent to fix it, she booted it up to put the headset on. Basically committing suicide.
Yes, I believe human Pomni had committed suicide when she put the headset on. I have a post about this.
She had no intention to save anyone in the game or to even live her normal life, but she was thrusted in a position where she didn’t expect her escape from reality to be so literal. And survival instinct got to her immediately as a result. She didn’t want to go through with the game anymore and tried to escape what she did, but couldn’t.
But for what we’ve seen so far, Pomni has grown to not only care decently about the others, but find a reason to live.
Since abstraction can be read as mental suicide, then it’s a fate Pomni could strive to avoid at all costs. While she can’t escape death, it wouldn’t be by her hand and there would people that’d save her if she tried.
And if that continues to be emphasized, then it goes to show that Pomni is and has always been just a normal person, regardless of her upbringing and circumstances.
So, with that said, what would an ending look like?
I actually don’t know what they could be going for. There’s a lot of possible routes they could take and two episodes is not enough info for an ending to possibly predict it.
That said, I do have two ending theories:
1: Caine gets redeemed
I believe that Caine will get a redemption arc.
Yes we all hate him for GummyGoo, but hear me out.
This character is an AI just programmed to carry certain beliefs. But Episode 2 proved that these AI are capable of questioning things and having beliefs like people would. Which means Caine is capable of maintaining his own beliefs. Which means those beliefs can be altered.
If Caine isn’t evil and is doing what he thinks is best for these players, then all he needs to do is see that his ways are only causing mental damage and he’ll be open to hearing out what would actually help.
So… maybe he’d let them go??
If that’s even possible. There’s still the barrier that is keeping them trapped in the circus that we don’t know about yet.
So basically Caine is like Inside Out’s Anxiety, a clear antagonist that is just doing what they think is best even when it’s not, but realizes the faulty ways of thinking and seizes control in the end.
2: Everyone BUT Pomni gets out
I dont think Pomni is gonna have a happy ending.
For two episodes now, she’s had a mental break of some sort, and while it may not be related to psychological trauma, it could happen again an Episode 3 as well. And so on until the end of the show.
Will she abstract? I’m not sure.
Unless you say, if my Abel theory is correct, her abstraction overrides his and allows the human players to leave the circus.
Why would her abstraction glitch be enough to do that and not the others? I’m not sure. Unless we’re talking about Jesus symbolism.
Which in that sense, I can see her pursuing the same path Abel did in treating the NPCs like people and allowing them chances to act as people. Within circus grounds I mean. Count that with the show suggesting bonding with the other human cast members, then I can see Pomni’s story arc mainly being about reconnecting with the real self she lost when she came to the circus. Maturing into an emotionally realized woman that wants to live and strive and also helps the people (NPC AND human) around her live and strive too.
I also got this idea from Oreo’s fan song “The Show That Never Ends”, and the bridge lyrics. (They also did Digital Hallucination… which, you know, fan song gold standard)
“I dont think I can go on” “Don’t wanna lose myself” “I’ll try putting a show on” “I’ll try biting my time, I’ll find a way out of here” “I’ll never stop, I’ll never give up on life, I’ll get out of this place tonight, or tomorrow, this horrible hell can’t hold me forever whenever I get the chance”
So, no, I don’t think she’s giving up on trying to leave. Think about it 24/7? No. But she isn’t giving up on the possibility, especially when a clue presents itself.
But please Glitch, do something with her character besides ‘me find exit door’ (Episode 2 comes out) oh wait, you did. Awesome.
But while I do see that character growth from Pomni and the others minus Jax, I do think in Pomni’s case specifically it will not be enough to save her from the damage Caine and the circus will do to her.
And when all’s said and done and the answer presents itself that the only way for anyone to escape the circus is with a sacrifice, Pomni breaks before anyone else can volunteer. She gets left behind in the game. She abstracts. She overrides Abel’s glitch and fixes the game so the humans can leave and the NPCs can carry out Abel’s wishes again.
And if her abstraction doesn’t do it, then it definitely would break Caine and get him to open his eyes. The damage he’s done that got them to that point, that the loss of Pomni has only himself to blame. And it causes him to turn for the better and save the others.
So yeah. Jesus sacrifice to save humanity. And NPCs. And Pomni is just in coding heaven I guess. (Maybe Ragatha is also there on the other side. Raise a glass to freedom (I’m sorry))
It would also be a contrast to the Pilot. Where at the start of the show, Pomni only thought about herself and was willing to leave by herself, she’d get everyone but herself out and think of them first.
Kinger, Gangle, and Zooble are characters I see very likely to leave the game in this scenario. So they’d get happy endings.
Jax is a maybe. Depends on if he doesn’t get a Disney villain death first. Otherwise it’d just be ‘Eh, fine, leave you jerk, you don’t deserve it.’
But maybe if he is a criminal in the human world it can be ‘Have fun in prison’
Ragatha. We talked about it.
But Pomni is one that is very likely to not get a happy ending.
And Caine is a different story because he’s an AI who can’t and has no interest in leaving. But in a redemption moment he’s a much more experienced and empathetic ringmaster for it and that’s enough. And failing Pomni would make him a bittersweet character, as while he’s better as a person for it, it came at the price of a character he mistreated.
And if any of my theories over this post were correct, then while Caine is not Pomni’s father, he is a creation of her father and a self insert of him. So take that what you will and how much harder that hits.
Daddy’s gonna look after you. Even when you’re in coding heaven.
So in conclusion…
Uh… everything I said in this post is total BS and is 90% sure to not happen at all.
And I don’t demand any of it to.
This was just me as a fan doing some silly speculation as a form of investment in the shows story. And I am not going to get upset at anything here getting proven wrong in future episodes.
I mean based on Gooseworx’s posts I think it’s a given that I’m gonna be thrown a curveball.
I’m gonna be SO OFF, and then when the episodes come out we can all go back to this posts and laugh at my face at how WRONG I was.
Please don’t take anything I say here like it’s already canon, cause it’s NOT. Just, have fun while it lasts I guess.
Maybe I shouldn’t become a theorist.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - my takes, thoughts and stuff I kinda got wrong
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE MOVIE!!!
1) First off: things I definitely got wrong after thoroughly enjoying the teaser trailer…
James Acaster = NOT OSCAR BARRETT. Snarky scientist employed by Mr Zeddemore? Yes, absolutely. Anyone else get a slight Alan Tudyk vibe from his character?
Secret Society? Well, kind of? Not late 1890s but STILL Victorian era. And, why exactly would these “Adventurers” want to release a revenge-bent ancient deity? Because they can? For that matter, did they maybe kidnap Nadeem’s grandmother, or steal the orb from her? There’s so much more to her story (and presumably her family/predecessors in regard to keeping Garraka’s prison safe and hidden) we don’t know about…
On that note, Garakka wasn’t trying to escape the containment unit, he wanted to release all the ghosts within it (that the guys had caught AFTER 1984? after Peck originally turned it off? Gil, more details and context please!)
But I DID get Patton Oswalt’s character right! Li-freaking-brarian! And the whole “under-library?”Totally borrowed from the Video Game (Special Archives level!)
2) Couldn’t help these ideas, they just popped in there…and sort of in order of the movie’s chronology:
-How EXACTLY did Walter “Dickless” Peck go from the EPA to MAYOR OF NYC?!
-Darn that final edit! I liked the bit with “overruled! sustained!” from Paul and Finn.
-Couldn’t Winston have helped fix up the firehouse a LITTLE more over the last, what 2 years? I mean, it’s a business AND a single family home now!
-Also guessing they hauled as much of Egon’s equipment, tech and books as they could from Summerville to Manhattan, right?
-Love Janine being back and as sassy as ever…but mainly throwing in one-liners for the sake of exposition? Which I got a kick out of, don’t get me wrong, but they could’ve gone a little deeper with her character, possibly? Guess I’m still not happy with how much of Annie’s scenes got cut in “Afterlife…”
-Glad Callie’s embraced her Ghostbuster heritage. And look at her piloting that drone trap! Boom!
-OMG Phoebe. I have ALL the feels for her moreso than before. 15, frustrated, feeling isolated…and upping the acerbic sarcasm to 11…then doing something that very well could be read as, maybe more than purely experimental?, at least in my mind (look closely…when she gets into that extractor, her heart rate drops to 42 bpm). And what if something went wrong with the timer?
-And OMG when Melody double crossed her…was I the only one who thought they’d kiss, maybe? Anyone else think of that plot device from the newer DuckTales first season? Just me?
-Or did the orb and wax cylinder give anyone Venture Brothers season 3 vibes?
-Or how the “open rift over the firehouse to the spirit world” idea totally made me think of new Doctor Who, season 1?
-Oh yeah, Kumail is a fire MASTER, and NOT a Fire BENDER!
-One more: NARNIA AND MIDDLE EARTH JOKES!!!
Damn, I need a part 2 after all these pop culture mentions. I’ll pick this up tomorrow.
Peace out, Ghostheads!

Reflection on last year, Be My Favorite, fandom thoughts, and more.
PT.1: Be My Favorite, time, isolation, and hope
My defining series of the year was Be My Favorite, without a doubt. Whereas I’d say Utsukushii Kare 2 + Eternal was what I was most excited for, as well as what resonated most with what I yearn for from a BL series, it wasn’t what defined my year (season 1 had defined last year for me already, and I don’t do repeats that often).
The moment I finished watching the trailer for Be My Favorite, before its release in late June, I knew I would be enamored in it.
I just got into Thailand’s BL scene this year. One of the first things I looked for once I realized I was in for the long haul of exploring this medium was a time travel series. With, preferably, a premise similar to Be My Favorite. Because one of my favorite types of stories is the narrative that plays with time, specifically the type that focuses on a character’s growth thanks to it.
Time travel is my favorite trope, but particularly it is the type that unravels and builds up one character’s journey. Historical/future explorations past a character’s lifetime has never appealed to me as much for that very reason. Time traveling to the distant past is interesting, but it isn’t what I love.
I’ve always wished I could time travel back to moments in my life. I remember hearing a story about myself at five-years old, upset I couldn’t press a button and go back to when I was three-years old, which seemed like the prime time of my life at the time. It’s a recurring thought. It’s mainly because I feel I’ve fucked up so early in life. Actually, my six-year old has solidified itself as the part of my life I’d like to go back to and undo most ardently. I won’t be delving into why the worst part of my life was in the first grade, or why I regret what I did then, as a small child, but it’d make sense if you knew.
It’s funny to me that I insist I could have done things better if I had been able to go back to any of the past moments in my life, when I keep creating more grievances, more missed opportunities, more wasted years, and more memories I’d like to forget. And yeah, I’m young. I’m only eighteen. But I still feel like it’s been too much. It’s stupid, sure. But it’s probably why playing with the concept of time itself is always in my head, leading me.
Sometimes, I want to press reset on existence itself. The entire world consists of loops, circular movements of past and present and future, of subconscious and conscious loops back towards what we already have done, and what will happen again. If so, then is it so wrong to wish we could return to the beginning of everything? It already happens on its own, after all. But I digress.
I’ve always loved time travel in how it is able to explore someone in its fullest. In what they have done, what they haven’t done, and what they could have done.
As it’s a trope so deeply personal to me, I jive best with fiction that explores personal journeys utilizing time travel. I enjoyed Groundhog Day, as obvious and simple as it seems. I love the idea of time loops being used to show stagnation within highschool and a desperate need to not lose what you find most important, such as in Revue Starlight, and I love Be My Favorite in how it explores our protagonist, Kawi, as he goes back to redo his life and realize what he has to learn to be happy.
Less so than time travel as the premise, what also struck me about the series and solidified the feeling I’d be in love was how Kawi was established in the trailer, and further explored as within the pilot episode.
Kawi is a loser. And you understand why, with his circumstances, but also, he is a loser. Kawi is a coward. Selfish. Insecure. Frustrated. Alone. And he wants things he does not allow himself to actually try to take hold of. Kawi wishes for love and friendship. But until he’s given a chance to do things again, he never goes for it. And he expects failure upfront.
I’ve always valued people above all else. I think it’s pretty normal for a lot of humans. Whether it’s my tumultuous connection with my mom, my many friendships, or all of the romantic idealizations, I’ve always yearned for people. And it’s not really to fill a hole, or find something. It’s to create. To ascend. Connection with others, to me, is what frames phases of my life, what frames my traits, my passions, my purpose.
Which is why it’s so funny I tend to push people away. I’m a college student right now. I started almost two years ago, youngest in all my classes, and I’m going to be a junior this coming fall. I don’t consider anyone I’ve met an actual friend. I don’t give anyone the chance. I immediately judge people as not right, spurn offers to get to know people more because of some reason or another, and vacillate between feelings of superiority and inferiority.
I am not a person in the way many of these people are. I am not someone who could fit in. There is no point in hope, because there is no one here who could like me, or that I could build a greater bond with. Those are the thoughts inside my head that compel me to turn down offers to hang out, to see everything as annoying rather than friendly, and it’s how I see almost everyone new that I speak to.
But, connection. Yes. I live online. I am myself online. I was homeschooled, barely went outside, and only spoke to other people online who I felt shared enough of the same experiences with alienation/loneliness I did. I yearn, I learn, and I live online. I am deeply attached to feeling like a real-life nomad who only “breathes” on the online sphere, no matter how people warn against it. And sometimes I wonder, while I’m still able to amend this in what people see as the “real” world, if I need to try to assert myself to people more. To find people who would get me. I’m not so stupid I think it wouldn’t happen. But I’m scared, and so I pre-judge every interaction and hide myself behind every wall I can.
Kawi opens the show at thirty, in a job he hates, with the same lack of friends. And a deep, paralyzing regret that he never lived the life he feels he should have. A world where he went on to succeed, to get the girl. A world where he was happy. And he ends the show with a loving partner, as a more well-rounded person, content with his occupation, with a group of friends who care about Kawi and have stuck around for a long time.
I don’t verbalize it enough, but part of why I love Be My Favorite so much is because it begins by scaring me and ends with soothing me with inspiration. Because the series starts by showing to me my worst nightmare as to how I could become, how I could feel, how a combination of a lot of the factors could lead to my life being (don’t get me started on Kawi’s field of study and job in the original timeline; I know there’s a good chance I’m gonna be broke in ten year) and it ends by showing me the best outcome. Joy, companionship, acceptance.
Living life to the fullest. Finding someone who loves you for yourself. Friendship that’s supportive and long-lasting. Kindness. Being content in accepting what happens.
The ending of Be My Favorite is kind of like a happy pill to me, in contrast to the angst of the series while it explored how everything could have gone wrong. And I adore it. I love believing in the messages of the series. In the ideas of the series. Of finding confidence, supporting the people around you, and figuring out what it is you need. And, oh.
Huh. I guess when it comes to it, what I connect to the most tends to be stories of hope. Hell, my favorite pieces of media tend to have themes like picking yourself up from failure and trying again, or friendship winning. And Be My Favorite spoke to me so strongly because it’s a story that really tells me how I can make my life something that is fulfilling, far from how I imagine it’ll go.
Guess it all comes back to hope.
PT.2: Idolatry, fandom, and the question of why?
Fandom is a major aspect of my life, and has been for almost half of it. Whether it’s group chats on Amino, writing short fanfiction on Archive of Our Own, retweeting on twitter, or gushing on Discord, I’ve often filtered my life through the lens of obsessive fan culture.
This year, Thai BL has taken over my brain. I’m sure it’ll continue to do so next year. And I’m not new to BL (I’ve read many BL manga, for one) but I am still very new to this fandom and its contents, especially because it’s such a wide category of works to keep track of. And I’m enjoying where I’ve come so far.
I’m mostly, so far, a Pebaca fan. The shows that stuck to me most out of all of the shows I watched this year were Theory of Love and Be My Favorite. I love OffGun and the development they’ve gone through as a pair. Their stable partnership, the ways Off has changed “for” Gun, and all of the different faces they’ve had as a couple. I adore TayNew, with their bickering dynamic and long period of closeness. I love how hilarious they are as a partnership. And I love KristSingto, with their yin & yang dynamic. The way they parallel their first series so closely and how they’ve grown to be influenced by each other.
But what has been the highlight of my year is becoming a megafan of Krist, probably. I love him so goddamn much. And it made me think about why people become fans of celebrities, or at least why I do.
As a side note, I feel as if the internet has become plagued with people using parasociality = bad as an overly simplistic thing. I’m far from an expert on it, but I do think the way many tend to talk about it is forgetting a lot of nuance. And I don’t want to get into this topic, exactly. I want to talk about why I enjoy being a fan of someone from a one-sided light, and how that helps me. Not about the ethics of fandom or what exactly it means to be a fan of someone (though these are interesting to speak about).
Maybe it’s pretty simple. I like watching charming people, and even if I don’t know them personally, I can grow endeared by them. I was definitely charmed by Krist’s personality: big, extroverted, sulky, caring, emotional, a little ridiculous, and passionate. I goddamn adore watching him on screen, obviously.
But at least for me, I feel as if a major part of how I choose what resonates with me is seeing people with friendships. Historically, the only real people I’ve ever become fans of have been a pair of YouTubers and people in idol groups. As if what I’m really being drawn to is actually when relationships between people are formed and sold. And I think that is the core of what the BL industry is doing. Selling the relationship between pairs. I feel as if a feeling of yearning/lacking within myself is in fact what being a fan of this industry is alleviating, at least for me.
Or at least, that’s how I feel now. I’m still easing into it.
PT.3: Okay, so what’s the point? And what about the new year?
2023 was a normal year. It was also endlessly fascinating for me. At the very least, I feel as if I found out/explored things that will continue to keep me intrigued. I’ve been reading a lot about literary theory and cultural examinations. Been thinking more in depth about people. About myself.
And of course, I discovered something new that will most likely keep me in a chokehold for the next year as well. So, all in all, good, right? Well, not exactly. But I’m looking at the bright side. And yeah, I’m happy with the year when I think about all I’ve gained.
I’m happy I’ve gotten into BL. Obviously. (And it’s also been making me think more about how being queer affects how I see things/what media I like, of course) So I guess the point of this was unpacking why certain media works for me, and why that is important for me.
And here, I just want to talk a bit about what I want for 2024.
Obviously, I want more shows that connect to me on the level that Be My Favorite did, both through finding older shows and in watching the shows that come out during the rest of the year. And I’d like to get to know everyone else in this fandom as well. I guess what I’m saying is that this post is something I wrote to process what the last year had and to try to declare to myself what I want for the future.
So, yeah. If you read until here, thanks? For listening to me for so goddamn long, ahaha. Happy new years! Well. It's still New Years here. It probably isn't for most people, but it is for me! So!

I’M GOING TO SPOIL STUFF.
I’m also going to tag as best as I can but we never know if Tumblr is going to fuck things up and better safe than sorry so. In this post there are going to be:
Screenshots from the first dune part 2 trailer
Informations you get from the book, either in the first part or the second part.
Maybe informations from the Messiah book? Not sure.
If you’re not sure, better not read and quickly scroll. But if you don’t care and would like to see my endless rambling about the trailer, and if you haven’t read the book and would like a bit more detailed context about the Dune universe, sit down with me for a minute 💜
I'll never never never be tired of watching the desert shot by Denis. This is so smooth, so calming, so satisfying. My soul is happy 😌
This is the first shot of the trailer that made me go ohmygod. I'm not sure what's going on exactly in this scene but I find these few seconds SO POWERFUL for some reason. I'd wish Herbert would have done more with Lady Jessica in the whole story (even if her not being really present gives more room to other very interesting characters) but I can't wait to see Lady Jessica in this part 2. The glimpses we see in this trailer are exciting (to say the least).
When the talk was all about Florence vs Anya, I thought Anya was closer to what I had physically in mind for a character like Irulan. Seeing the trailer now, I think Florence's smartness, attitude and personality might be a very good thing for Irulan. Good move, Denis, good move.
I love this shot and I love it even more because it could look like something form The Messiah. Or even the Children. Incredible. I love that Timmy's account used it for promotion.
AH. That's where all the problem start. And the spoilers. I'm not sure what will be said in the movie so, maybe I'm not spoiling much but, still. Anyway.
If you don't know, this is Feyd-Reutha. He's the Harkonnen Baron's nephew and his heir. While Paul is the Baron's grand son. In the Bene Gesserit's plans, Paul was supposed to be a girl and marry Feyd. Their kid was supposed to be the Bene Gesserit's Kwisatz Haderach. As you must now from the first movie, all of this was fucked up because Lady Jessica gave Duke Leto the boy he wanted. In the book, Feyd is supposed to look a lot like Paul, to be a charismatic figure like him and everything. I'm not sure choosing to make Austin look like what they decided all the Harkonnens should look really serve this idea? I get that it's a good idea for cinema and a movie targeting the largest audience possible that Harkonnens all look similar so everybody can quickly understand the different sides, families and who's good and who's bad. (Truth is, everybody is bad in Dune. Except the mouse. The mouse can stay.) But, I also think that nothing looks more powerful and dangerous than a bad guy looking like a good guy (in narration standards). If I remember correctly, Feyd can be read as a bit of a mirror for Paul's character and I would have like to see a bit of this physically? I don't know. I want to be convinced because I am not really right now.
I love sci-fi and fantasy universes exactly for these aesthetics. Mysterious items. It fascinates me probably because I would have no idea about how to write these kind of things myself.
I clearly remember the moment I've read how Paul's skin was supposed to look like after 3 years living in the Arrakis' desert. And I remember thinking how the hell they're going to make this happened how Timmy's skin of all people. Like the guy would probably managed to burn in Glasgow so, I was doubtful. I still am since he still looks silky smooth for most of the trailer but i like the way his skin looks here. That being said, they seem to have made some kind of arrangement with the timeline of the story. I'll have more thoughts about it after seeing the movie.
It might be just me but this piece of scene didn't sound very clear to me, even with memories of the book. Like, we don't know what looks like a normal worm ride so, are we supposed to understand what's going on and what's fancy? Plus what Paul's doing doesn't look fancy at all, it looks more like he's struggling sooo? It's not smooth, but not fancy either, so idk. Unless they're is a meaning of fancy that I don't know of, i'm a bit confused by this part. But this,
this is genius. Perfect midway between admiration and fear. Exactly what is needed to look at Muad'Dib.
I wonder why some parts are in black and white. Seems a bit easy for a vision and wasn't used in the first movie so it would be odd but i have no other theory.
I'm a bit upset because if it's the scene I think it is, it was very different in my head. Maybe I don't remember correctly, but for me, in this scene Paul is talking to a couple of hundreds people top and is very close to them and for me it suits the Muad'Dib effect better? It's kind of hard to explain, especially in English, but for me, Muad'Dib doesn't really scream directly to thousands of people who can't barely see him to send them to war. I see him as a figure who will talk to the couple of hundreds people he's with and be so close to them you can see his reflection in their eyes. He's a legend in the sense of a belief. It's the idea of him, his words spreading from person to people and from people to person that make Muad'Dib who he is. I guess it would have been less impressive for a film like Dune but I was impatient to see this scene, a sort of prophetic version of his speech in the King, and now I'm not sure. I hope they did good but and that he's delivering his speech in a other scenery and then going there rather than having to shoot such a powerful moment in front of nothing and with no other possibility than to yell everything.
After thought was to wonder if Timmy learned to radiate such confidence (especially in the scene of the second screenshot) for Paul or if Paul taught him to feel confident. Life as an actor must be so so weird.
Long story short, I know the movie is going to be fantastic but I have just a few interrogations about how certain things look. And last but not least, the work that the music does for this movie is PHENOMENAL, even if it's nothing that we haven't read before. Hans is a genius, I'd offer him my first child without a second thought. (i don't have kids. I don't want kids, so it's a way of saying, chill out.)

So to Hell with Good Intentions Chapter 2
Masterpost
If you want to be tagged, let me know
...2018; The American Nightmare music video “So what made you want to be a makeup artist?” Spencer questions me as he leans up against the doorframe leading into the makeup trailer. “Especially since you specialize in horror movies.” “Thirteen Ghost kinda made me fall for the art of special effects makeup.” I rely as I empty my kit onto my table. “I did a censored version of The Angry Princess for Halloween one year. Chris said it looked impressive, especially since I did it all by myself on my own body. It’s been history since.” “Favorite horror movie of all time?” He asks, coming into the trailer more and taking a seat in the chair. “Are you this talkative with all the makeup artists that work on your music videos?” I smirk at him. “Not usually.” He shrugs. “But it's not everyday that I get to work with October Valentine. You’re not just some makeup artist that my friend suggested. You’ve worked on big movies in the horror industry.” “You really are a fanboy.” I laugh. “But to answer your question, my favorite movie of all time has to be either Thirteen Ghosts or My Bloody Valentine.” “Newer or Classic?” “I’m assuming you’re asking for both movies.” “The fact you know there is an older version of Thirteen Ghosts is extremely attractive.” He admits with a chuckle. “I haven’t seen the original for Thirteen Ghosts but that’s because it doesn’t have Matthew Lillard in it so it’s not worth my while at the moment. And I can honestly say the original My Bloody Valentine was better. But honestly I only watch the newer one because of Jensen Ackles. I’m a huge fan of him.” “I’m surprised. I thought you’d pick movies like Scream or Halloween.” “I aim to keep people on their toes.” I giggle. “Ok, since you’re here we can talk about your vision for your version of Freddy. How do you want him to look?”
“So what are you doing besides working on music videos with us?” Spencer asks after I start sketching up ideas for him quickly. “Working on a movie.” I reply, not bothering to look up at him. “Are you going to tell me which movie?” His tone is playful and childlike, which is funny. “Why are you being so nosy?” “Just making conversation.” He throws his hands up in defense. “If it’s a crappy horror movie, just say it.” “It’s It: Chapter Two.” I reply. “I’m reprising my role as their lead makeup artist. Shitty part about that job is that I’m the one that mainly works on Pennywise’s look.” “Not a fan of clowns?” Spencer laughs I look up at him, eyes narrowing into a deathly glare. “I was either 7 or 8 when I saw the original for the first time. I’ve been terrified of clowns since. All my friends know this and torture me with this information. I had a friend blindfold me and take me to the fucking clown motel.” “Fuck, that’s harsh.” He admits. “I’d never do that to you. To be honest, your fear of clowns is something I’ll take to the grave and never use against you.” “Thanks Spencer.” I smile just as a PA comes rushing in. “Spencer, you’re needed on set.” She informs the lead singer. Spencer lets out a dramatic sigh before looking up at me. “Until next time, darling?” “Until next time, Spence.” ** “How is Ice Nine Kills treating you?” Chris asks over the phone. “More importantly, how is Spencer treating you?” “Like gentlemen.” I reply. “They’re actually pretty awesome guys. Especially Spencer.” “Not bad for a band that you barely tolerated.” Chris chuckles. “So how long are you going to be there?” “Maybe a week or two?” I reply. “We’re working on the videos on a schedule that works with my schedule for work.” “The life and times of a famous special effects makeup artist.” He muses. “What movie are you working on this time.” “It: Chapter 2.” “I thought you were terrified of clowns. Why the fuck would you work on a movie that’s a reboot of the movie that made you terrified of clowns?” “Because I worked on the first one and working with Bill Skarsgard isn’t horrible.” “He scared the piss out of you on the first movie, didn’t he?” “He’s so unsettlingly as Pennywise.” I tell my cousin. “Like gave me nightmares, unsettlingly. I almost didn't want to go back. But I never back down from a challenge. Like the current challenge I’m experiencing.” “Just don’t burn yourself out, please.” Chris pleads with me. “I know you’re doing this as a favor to me and Spencer but it’s not worth it if you can’t have fun.” “Don’t worry, I won’t push myself.” I reassure my overprotective cousin. “Plus it’s gonna be fun because of Spencer, he’s something else.” “Don’t do it.” He warns me. “Don’t do what?” “Fall for a lead singer in a band…” “Are you sure you’re just saying that because you guys are friends?” I laugh. “But don’t worry, there is no romantic love between us. We just share an unbreakable bond because of our love of horror movies.” “I know you, Toby. I know how hard you fall for something and the type of guy you fall for.” “Relax, Chris. I don’t plan on falling in love with Spencer Charnas. I promise.” “When you do fall for him I’ll be the first one to say I told you so.” I roll my eyes. “Whatever you say, Chris. Whatever you say…”

My thoughts on the s2 soundtrack
SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE GRISHAVERSE BOOKS BELOW!!
1. On the run: definitely alina mal in some dramatic chase scene in ep 1
2. Market chase: Mal (and possibly alina) running in the village in the sneak peak we got in september
3. Tolya and Tamar: Alina and Mal meet Tolya and Tamar
4. Wylan: No explanation needed but AHHHHHH. says a lot that he’s the only character with the track as simply their name. superior king
5. Come Sail Away: Dramatic moment on Nikolai’s ship, where they first set sail or smth
6. Brother: Jordie flashback (SO SOON THO, assuming the soundtrack is in order).
7. Arriving at the Island: Nikolai’s ship docks at an island where they look for the sea whip, I haven’t read S&S in a hot minute so don’t count me on this one
8. Crows ambushed: :( Probably involves Pekka
9. Return of the Useless Grunt: No idea who this is... definitely something to do with Ketterdam and the Dregs tho
10. I’m Here for the Killers: Kaz related I’m guessing, perhaps him talking to the crows and reminding what they’re here for, inducing a ruthless mindset
11. Matthias fights: Hellgate scene ay
12. The Night We Met: Christina Strain posted this on twitter with an explosion emoji so I think we’re safe to assume it’s for wesper!! so we ARE getting tannery scene?? I’m so confused haha
13. Become the Blade: It’s mal doofuses
14. Jesper’s Past: AHHHHHH
15. Hope is Dangerous: Inej, a darker moment for her character this season (perhaps the way she is ‘tested’ that Amita referred to in an interview a long time ago?). Or maybe this is the scene in the trailer where she is fighting the Shu warrior?
16. Shu Han: Party arrives in Shu Han I’m guessing, the crows are involved too I bet since they seem to be in Shu Han in the trailer
17. The Disciple: Something to do with s&b, possibly the apparat? I need to reread that series before s2
18. I Can’t Lose You: Malina (perhaps alludes to Darkling’s remark “Are you prepared to sacrifice that which is most precious to you?”)
19. Deserve Her: Kanej or Malina, could be Helnik but I have no idea where they’re going with Nina and Matthias and if they will even meet other than in Matthias’s dreams
20. Chased: Not sure, either crows or Mal and Alina again
21. Battle at the Moat: Was this where Wylan was with Kaz and he was throwing a bomb at Tamar? I was never sure if Tamar was actually part of that scene or if they were different ones. Either of those shots are definitely involved her though
22. Stronger Than An Emerald: I’m guessing this is related to Pekka (Emerald Palace), and definitely is true since Kaz ended up refurbishing the place and renaming it The Silver Six (adorable btw). But if so, does that mean the crows have now returned to Ketterdam? Or has Pekka Rollins joined them in Shu Han? Or did they never go to Shu Han in the first place?
23. We Can Do This: Perhaps the scene with Kaz, Jesper, Wylan, Tolya, Tamar, Nikolai, and Adrik where they are watching the nichevoya and about to attack?
24. Final Goodbye: Crows part with s&b crew, or maybe the darkling and alina. Or if they reach the end of r&r and mal is about to sacrifice himself for alina?
25. Let Me Be Your Monster: Darkling, move on
26. Loss ad Sacrifice: Never mind, THIS is probably where mal sacrifices himself?? Or maybe Genya and the nichevoya?
27. Hope for the Future: Ending theme, perhaps ties in with the Inej track
28. How Will You Have Me: this is going to be the best scene in the show.
29: Rise And Fall: idk man probably s&b related
Notes:
- this season is going to be INSANE. i’m really excited and scared because I’ve been waited for this for two years and... wow.
- no Nikolai track? Maybe ‘come sail away’ is for him?
- hyped for march 10 when i will be able to listen to them and analyze all of these further!

POSTAL/JET SET RADIO CROSSOVER FIC
HOME (part 2 :D)
Nothing too crazy this part but YEAHH 💃🕺pls again don’t bully me !!
————————————————————————
“Champ?” Dude repeated to himself, putting the rest of his health pipes and god knows what else away in the old drawer before shutting it and seemingly remembering where his beloved pup was. “Oh yeah. I asked Uncle Dave to watch him for me for a bit. Had this thing come up where I would be gone for a bit. Yknow how it is.” Dude vaguely replied before making his way to the small, equally covered with random junk, kitchen and rummaged around. Beat raised a eyebrow at the reply. It was a answer that left questions but he supposed it was good of a answer as any, especially from his dad. “I guess..Anyways-” Beat was cut off by Dude grumbling and closing the fridge. “Shit..barely got anything good to eat around here. Especially not enough for a little kid.”
Beat decided to ignore the ‘little kid’ part of that for now. “Oh, uh I’m sorry. You don’t gotta worry about me though. I could probably find some kinda way-” Beat stopped talking again when his dad shook his head. “Nah. Don’t worry about it. The thing I was out busy doing got me paid the other day. Besides, we haven’t had a father-son outting in ages and we can pick up Champ after.” Dude picked up his old black leather jacket off a ‘dining’ chair as he continued with a grin, “Cmon, It’s a nice day out.” This made Beat even more confused. “A nice day out?! It was hot as hell on my way here!! I was practically melting out there… I don’t know how you go around wearing that coat…” Dude only chuckled in response as he patted his pockets, making sure he indeed had everything on him. Assured with the fact he did, he made his way over to Beat and placed a hand on his back and helped lead him out of the trailer, kicking whatever shit was blocking the path out of the way. “You’ll get used to it. You grew up here for a couple years. You just need that American blood to kick in.” Beat rolled his eyes with a small huff of a laugh “I’m not sure that’s how that works.”
-
Somehow, something only just occurred to Dude about his son as they rounded over into the second block. Something that made him roll his eyes with a grin. “Yknow, you’re really aren’t the one to talk about what someone is wearing right?” He pointed out with a soft nudge. “Huh?”“You’re wearing roller skates on a trip to the store.” Dude clarified, he almost gave a little kick a skate but luckily he realized that maybe kicking his sons skates isn’t the best idea. Beat had to look down, like he didn’t even realize he was still in them. “Oh..yeah. Well, I mean it’s nothing new for me. I go around town in these everywhere back home.” He explained with a shrug before looking back up. “Hmm…You didn’t bring a normal pair of shoes? You came all the way here with only those? I guess I can get you a pair while you’re here.” When either Dude knew it or not, he always ended up offering pretty much anything Beat could ever need or want when he visited. Even when he was younger and when Beats mom and Dude had split and Dude was left with barely enough to get by himself. He would have loved to have been able to have done so much more for the two of them to be honest. If only had the whole thing had happened later in his life and not when he was facing the darker parts of his mental health…but those thoughts are the kind he tries to push to the back of his mind for the most part. And usually when the thoughts do come to the forefront of his mind, he would like to have a drink in his hand and whatever else he could find to help get his mind away from dwelling on it- away from the thoughts of all the could have beens in his life.
“I’m good. I did bring shoes but left them in that bag I brought. Just forgot to switch into them before we left. These are fine anyways..getting around in these feel about as natural as walking to me.” He assured him with a grin. Dude thought for a moment before shrugging also. “Alright then. Just don’t wanna hear you trying to diss my style again.” He joked before focusing back onto the street and the area around them. Man….it was really hot out. He wasn’t gonna tell Beat that he was right about that though… Hopefully it wasn’t too hot outside for Champ if the mutt was playing outside at Dave’s.. wait a minute. “Do you even remember uncle Dave? Man, I don’t think you have seen him in forever either…he had that high pitched voice?” Dude asked. Not that he really cared if Beat didn’t know what little of Dudes side of the family he had left. Beat thought to him self for a moment with a quiet ‘hmm’ before answering. “To be honest..not really. Maybe a little? I think I remember some guy at a birthday party once that might have been him but I’m not sure.”
“Ah well. That’s fine. He asks about you sometimes. I never have much to tell him besides that time you told me you got a dog of your own and you were so excited about it. Hey wait, where is your dog? Potts? Or whatever its name was.” Without thinking Beat answered “my boyfriend-” Beats face started to burn a bit at the slip up “Shit. I mean.. my friend back home is looking after him.” He quickly looked somewhere off to the side, hoping his father would just ignore what he’d accidentally confessed. “Boyfriend?” Dude asked with a smirk. He really didn’t give a shit about whoever Beat found himself liking and told him so. “Dumbass, I don’t care if you’re gay or just into guys…you know there is this one gay bar in town and sometimes when I have nothing else to do on a Friday night-” Now it was Beats turn to nudge Dude with a chuckle of his own “Okay, okay! I don’t wanna know about how that goes or ends.” Dude grinned as well before ruffling Beats hair that color matched his own so closely. “Fine then. Didn’t wanna relate to you and make you feel better anyways…take this turn up here. We’re about there.”

Welp, happy 1-year anniversary to this movie! While not the best, it still exists 🤷 Honestly the best parts of it for me was seeing the Ericka and Mavis moments. I also was kinda hoping there would be a DVD out by now so I could complete the collection I have at home, but I’m sure whatever contract is needed for that is floating in limbo somewhere too. Anywho, I’ve put some of my answers to a 20-question game from the Amino App that was made for the first movie’s 10th anniversary (didn’t see that post until a couple of days ago, lol) under the cut in case you wanna know more about my thoughts on Transformania and also the rest of the franchise! :D
Thoughts on the franchise as a whole
Ah yes, Hotel Transylvania. To have sparked 4 movies, a show, shorts, some video games, and graphic novels, I’m guessing it was popular enough among folks xD For me, the movies are cute enough as they go, and entertaining with its cartoonish interpretation of classic horror icons. There are memorable moments and characters, maybe even good life lessons at times. Overall enjoyable films, and a fun watch :)
2) Favorite character
Ericka Van Helsing. She’s a bad@ss 😎
3) Favorite movie
3rd movie, hands down. A lot that had to do with how entertaining the Van Helsings were and also for giving us the Drericka ship ^_^
4) Favorite song
3rd movie had a lot of great songs, but if I had to decide my favorite it would be “Love is Not Hard to Find” from movie 4
5) Favorite video game
Don’t play video games, so N/A
6) Favorite actor/actress
Kathryn Hahn ✨
7) Thoughts on the TV series
Well, I only saw a handful of episodes from the TV series… and then stopped xD Idk, I guess it just wasn’t what I thought. Characters felt a little OOC, and just didn’t hold my interest :/ Honestly, what I would have liked would be a show taking place post HT1/HT2 since it takes place in about a 8-year time period give or take and could potentially have stories to tell with humans and monsters getting along, looking more into how they’ve each adapted at the hotel, and also just more of the characters we’re familiar with from the movies themselves
8) Favorite episode of the TV series
Like I said, haven’t been dedicated to watching the TV series, so can’t really say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
9) Favorite character from the TV series
From the episodes I did watch, I’d say Lydia was most entertaining
10) Favorite graphic novel
Motel Transylvania. I like the concept of expanding the hotel, and Johnny’s efforts in trying to make that happen xD
11) Genndy or Derrick (Director)
Probably Genndy
12) Adam or Brian (Dracula’s voice actors)
They’re both great, honestly
13) First impression of this franchise
The first movie came out when I was in like 6th grade, and I do recall classmates taking about wanting to go see it. But it didn’t really catch my interest, even when I did watch it for the first time in 2018. I felt it was too childish, and the fast movements bothered me
14) Latest impressions of this franchise
I think it’s kind of losing its steam a bit, because plot-wise 4 wasn’t the best it could be (which I guess was also part of the reason that led to the decline of the fandom…) but guess I can still appreciate what we have
15) How did you discover this franchise
My little bro got interested back in 2018 after seeing trailers for the third movie
16) Favorite zing
DRERICKA 💕
17) Favorite moment of all time
Transformania’s smoochy time scene (I mean hey, it’s pretty much the closest we got to an on-screen liplock from Drericka, plus I just can’t get enough of how clearly in love these two are with each other 😍 And how grossed out Mavis is as a result of that xD)
18) Did the finale satisfy you
Err… it was okay. Nothing more, nothing less. I do like the idea of Drac retiring and giving up the hotel to Mavis and Johnny, but the execution of the rest of the film’s plot I felt didn’t do it as much justice as it could have. I guess with all the switching around with the release date for this movie going further and further out, I was anticipating something worth the wait (also, January 14th?? The October release date I think would’ve been ideal since it’s spooky month. Even this January would’ve made more sense since it has a Friday the 13th in it)
19) Do you wish for more
At some point, yes, but maybe in 5+ years as a breather. If it does come back, I think an animated special of some kind would be cool, or a 2D show that takes place after part 4 with the brand-new hotel
20) Would you recommend this franchise
All in all, I would say yes! If you want just some silliness to pass time, with a mostly likeable ensemble of characters, then this is it :)

Death is in the Details - Our Flag Means Death (Post Season 1 fic) Part 5
(Ao3) Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 6
Summary: The search for the not-so-dead Gentleman Pirate continues. Izzy Hands still can't know. Stede and Oluwande have a chat about their search for Blackbeard. Jim and Frenchie finally get a solid lead.
(Spoilers of you haven’t watched the full season)
Author’s Note: Sorry this took so long. I have been avoiding the trailer for the new season because I wanted to finish this. The last chapter is almost done. Enjoy!
wordcount: 1k+
Warnings: Mentions of violence, threats, anger, resentment, doubt and depression. Typical Pirate stuff.
Chapter 5: Secret Hunt
"The fuck took you so-"
A blade flew past Izzy Hands' face and into the wood behind him.
"Ask that one more time, and I'll have Jim here feed you your own tongue," Blackbeard stated.
"You're fucking late," Hands asserts.
"I'm the fucking captain!" Blackbeard snaps. "My time is the only time! Fucking mind your place."
Blackbeard storms towards his cabin, only stopping to give orders. He sends them towards a popular seaway that wasn't far from what little they knew of Stede's possible whereabouts. Any questions were met with malicious answers that boil down to "BECAUSE I'M THE FUCKING CAPTAIN!"
The crew had heard rumors that the Revenge was seen in waters it wouldn't usually be. Rumors that Blackbeard was more vicious and unhinged than ever. And that hadn't sat well with Stede Bonnet. So they kept going. Following every lead they had. To hear that Blackbeard had been seen with a silent and lithe bladesman and a sharp-witted pirate with an affinity for music in his company, more so than his first mate, gave Stede some hope that the Ed he knew was still there. He hoped that meant that Jim and Frenchie were more than okay. That they had not only Ed's trust but his protection and vice versa. That the people he was trying so desperately to reach were still together. He had to keep trying. If he failed, then what was the point of making things right? Sure, most of his crew was alive and on a ship because he found them. He doesn't have their death on his conscience. He'd made things right for his family and most of his crew to some extent. But he would never sleep well again if he didn't fix the biggest thing he broke. Ed Teach. He hadn't meant to break the man known as Blackbeard, but he had. And that was just not something he could live with. If he could fix the remaining wrongs with his crew in the process, he would. But Ed was his priority. He wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.
"What are we going to do about Izzy Hands?" Oluwande asked. "Word is he is still his first mate."
"Best bet," Stede says, "don't let him get to you or kill you. Worst, kill him first."
"Not very helpful," Wee John points out.
"Well, keep an extra blade on you," Stede says. "Like Jim would. Or something for a fight. If Izzy Hands wants a fight, well, he'll finally get one. That better?"
That seemed to raise their spirits a bit. The idea of them actually possibly being prepared for Hands' treachery was good in their book. And even having the upper hand because Hands thinks they are dead. The element of surprise was on their side.
"You know if everyone thinks you're dead, then so does Ed, right?" Olu points out when it was just he and Stede. "I know he thinks we are."
"I know," Stede says in a forlorn tone. "But we will fix it."
"And if he kills you?" Olu asks. "Blackbeard, that is."
"If that's what he wants, then so be it," Stede says.
"You wouldn't put up a fight at all, would you?"
"Fight Ed? Don't think I could if I wanted to."
"And you don't want to, do you?"
"Not a bit, no," Stede said with more conviction than Olu had seen from the Gentleman Pirate. That wasn't saying much since Olu hadn't ever thought Stede Bonnet was much before, not like this.
"So your plan is to just keep going until we find Blackbeard, as we have since we got here," Olu says, gesturing to the ship they are on.
"Correct," Stede nods.
"Fight the crew of the Revenge, the same crew that was more than willing to kill all of us."
"If we have to, and I'll deal with Izzy Hands," Stede insists.
"You, you're going to kill Izzy Hands yourself?" Olu sounds skeptical at best.
"Well, he betrayed Ed, turned me over to the crown, and left you all for dead. Yes, if it needs to be done. I'll do it."
"Technically, Blackbeard ordered it," Olu points out.
"And that's on me, it seems," Stede says.
"Nah, that was all him."
"I appreciate your loyalty, my good friend, but Ed's actions come from my betrayal."
"But you didn't actually betray him. Izzy Hands did. And look what happened."
"Yes, but he doesn't know that. Ed thinks I left him to go home to my wife and died. Can you blame him?"
"He left us for dead, so, uh, YES! YES, I CAN!" Olu snaps. "HE KILLED LUCIUS!
"Alright, that's fair," Stede laments. "And that does pain me. Lucius was my friend. He was a very good scribe. And he is gone because of me. I can't undo that."
"You really aren't going to admit he is a right bastard and made his own choices and chose to murder your friends," Olu says with a sigh.
"I'm sorry, Oluwande, I truly am, and I'm trying to-"
"Yeah, yeah, you are trying to make things right. We all get it. But this might be one giant suicide mission. Because that ruthless bastard has lived up to his name. And his first mate wants your head on a spike and will gleefully watch Blackbeard gut you before you can utter a fancy apology."
"Colorful image, but fair." Stede agrees. "I'm not afraid of them."
"You should be!" Olu reiterates.
"Probably, but I'm not. Izzy Hands cannot do much worse than he already has. And Ed, well, if Ed wants me dead, then I'd already be dead."
"He already thinks you are," Olu reminds him. The man felt like they were talking in circles again.
"Exactly, maybe he'll be happy to see me," Stede says hopefully.
"Or he'll see it as another betrayal."
"Maybe, won't know until we find them. So keep up the good work." Stede says with finality. Olu shakes his head but goes to check on the rest of the crew. This could get them all killed but what do they have to lose? Their friends were still there. Jim was still there. They were already left for dead. They might as well get some revenge like real pirates.
Frenchie and Jim continue to collect what information they can glean from the few ships they pillage as they secretly continue the search for their friends. Weeks go by until while raiding an English Merchant vessel, Frenchie and Jim hear a man lament about them being the second pirates to raid them and that they didn't have shit, so Blackbeard would probably just slaughter them all. But what really caught the pair's attention was when the man mentioned a key feature of the pirate's ship.
"What kind of pirate flag has a stupid full on it? Useless creatures," the man had said. Frenchie looks at Jim. Without hesitation, Jim grabs the man by his collar and drags him to Blackbeard. Luckily, or by Blackbeard's command, they didn't know or really care. Izzy Hands was angrily overseeing the lackluster hold and offloading what might still have value. Blackbeard had been watching the chaos from the top deck. The captain raises a brow as Jim kicks the man's knees, so he kneels before Ed. Jim nods at Frenchie as they keep a knife to the sailor's neck.
"This man may know something about a certain ship we have been looking for," Frenchie says.
Blackbeard narrows his intimidating glare at the man on his knees.
"Speak now, or I will remove the skin from your bones while you beg for death," the Kraken threatens.
And the man starts babbling and begging about things Ed couldn't care a bit about, and it was trying his patience. Blackbeard's blade digs into the man's shoulder with an angry growl.
"You might want to tell him about the ship with the bird on the flag, the one you mentioned before," Frenchie tells him.
And the man does. He tells them about how they were raided days before by a pirate ship with a blonde man who was asking questions about recent attacks. Ed's attacks. Something twists in the pirate captain's chest as the man describes Stede almost exactly as Ed remembered him. Almost. Again, he was described as less of a gentleman, but it was still undeniable. If this man was talking about this, the others might try and use this info for mercy. If Izzy found out that Stede and possibly the crew were alive, bad things could happen. He couldn't risk it. Ed pulled away to come up with a plan as Frenchie asked questions about the rest of the pirate crew. Frenchie genuinely grinned when the man talked of what was very clearly his mates. Jim even seemed a bit uplifted.
"Kill them all," Ed orders.
"What?" Frenchie asks.
"Izzy can't know any of this," Ed says. "We have what we need, even which way they went, this stays with us, which means…"
"Dead men can't betray you," Jim says.
"Exactly," Ed says. He mentally pulls back on the Blackbeard persona, runs the man through with his sword, and has the two throw him overboard before he leaves to dispatch as many of the merchant crew as he gave the word to slaughter everyone. Frenchie looks a bit unsure as he looks at Jim.
"Fucking bastard isn't wrong," Jim acknowledges.
"We did tell him to keep up the act," Frenchie says.
"Burn and sink her!" Blackbeard commands. A few pirates cheer.
As soon as the Revenge is some distance from the burning vessel, Blackbeard orders them after the commandeered ship he was after. When Izzy asks him why, Ed tells him that there was something valuable on that ship that was taken from the ship they just sank. And Ed wanted it. That seemed to satisfy Izzy. Izzy sets the crew to work as Ed retires to his cabin. He sneaks into the secret room that still holds some reminders of Stede, and Ed laughs. He laughed because this was insane. He had found a real lead. He could find Stede now. He looks at himself in the mirror and scrubs at his khol-covered face. A few years fall as he scrubs harder. He might actually see Stede. Not long ago, he had thought he would never get this chance. But what was he going to do when he did see him? He would demand answers. But something twisted inside him again. What would he do if he didn't like Stede's answers? What if Stede didn't-
No, he would deal with it when he found them.

I watched Antman And The Wasp: Quantumania last night and I have some thoughts!
If you haven’t seen the movie and don’t want to be spoiled, I’d suggest you don’t push the ‘read more’ button. If you have watched it or are nosy (like me) go ahead! And if you're currently not the biggest MCU fan, just letting you know that it's a good review, so do with it as you will.
Okay, let’s get into it.
I watched the movie in 3D and English, thank God, so I got the full experience.
I want to start off by saying that I had both low and high expectations, the former coming from a fear of Marvel screwing up Phase 5 and making me not enjoy their movies as much as I used to, and the latter because of the same reason because I don't want Marvel to screw it up and I hoped Antman would be as good as the trailer promised. I also hoped for Marvel to do their best at starting off Phase 5 after so much talk about how exciting it was going to be and that the future of the MCU was looking up again. I hoped for that.
In the end, Antman wasn't as good as it was promised in the trailer and the many reviews of the first screening I've read before.
It was better. Much, much better. And that comes from a personal place, of course, and how I viewed it, but let me just say, the entire room was burning (in a good way) and I wasn't the only one blown away.
Now that I've said it, I have to explain why I think that way. Or, I want to because I'm annoying and I like to share my opinion on things that no one asked for. (And most of you voted for more Daredevil thoughts no one asked for in the poll I made - this may not be Daredevil or Matt Murdock related, but in the end DD: Born Again will be part of Phase 5 so Antman actually plays an important part. It just set an example for what's about to come.)
1) I went into this movie with the fear that Marvel rushed the CGI again and completely missed the point (I liked Thor: Love And Thunder but the special effects and world building could have been better) so I kind of went into it with the fear that they ruined it. It, however, did not disappoint. Marvel did not disappoint with the CGI or world building. They did an incredible fucking job with it. And whoever is leaving terrible reviews on Rotten Tomatoes... have you watched the movie? Because from what I've read, we've seen two entirely different versions. And I'm not saying this because I'm prejudiced (okay, maybe I'm holding onto too much hope, but whatever, I've viewed this movie entirely objectively because I was not convinced that Marvel would actually pull it off). The movie did exactly that. They pulled it off. Which brings me to…
2) They outdid themselves with the world building. I watched it in 3D, as previously stated, and I felt as if I was actually there. The Quantum Realm was so well-made, I can't really describe it. It partly looked like I was staring at the corals under the sea, then there were obviously some of the elements that we saw in Multiverse of Madness when they, like, entered the broken Multiverse. It was a lot, but it was well-made. Anyway! Watching it, I found myself thinking back to when Endgame came out and I watched the big battle scene. You know, when Marvel didn’t rush their projects? They did amazing and I bow down to the team. It was great, it gave me many different vibes and I just felt so enchanted at certain points because they created something magical with this. I might be exaggerating, everyone is going to have a different opinion on this movie, and that’s okay, but in my opinion, this was an amazing start and I hope Marvel continues doing what they did with Antman in their future projects.
3) The details. Let's talk about the details. The Quantum-People (I will call them that now) weren't overdone. They looked as real as something that actually doesn't exist can look real, and I was in love with the creature without holes (I have no idea what else to call him). The detail with the "ooze" that made them understand the language of the Quantum-People was also an amazing addition and of course, a necessity; I would not have sat through two hours of gibberish. And when it came to the Quantum Realm and the core, I could have sworn I saw hints at the mirror dimension. It looked like mirrors floating around anyway. And the probabilities that split Hope and Scott into several parts of themselves? Yeah, it really looked like I was staring at a million Paul Rudd's. I'm not kidding, if Marvel had done it like She-Hulk, I would not have been convinced because it would not have looked as real as it did. There are other details that I can't quite remember, I would have to watch it again to go deeper, but who knows, maybe I will. I loved it and I would so watch it again.
4) The balance between comedy, darkness and drama was perfect. We know Scott Lang is a funny guy and Paul Rudd was born for that role, but they incorporated jokes at just the right moments, and they weren’t overdone. It made the entire cinema laugh, and didn’t feel forced. Not to speak of the battle scene at the end, it had me at the edge of my seat. I thought Cassie was going to die, then I thought Scott was going to die, then I thought Hope was going to die... I had a lot of thoughts all the time. They really made it so that you wouldn't suspect anything. I thought the villagers would lose; they didn't. I thought something might happen to our protagonists; nothing happened. Or, something did happen, but no one died. And then I thought Kang would still win, especially when he pulled Scott away from the portal and beat him senseless. I was almost crying because I thought Marvel killed another Avenger, but then Hope came and she saved the day. And they still managed to make me laugh throughout even the parts that had me scared for everyone's lives, and then I cried when the portal disappeared and I was like: NO GOD PLEASE NO. But they’re safe (for now). They came back. They made it out. That's all that matters for now. We are not looking into the future because God forbid, I am scared for every single MCU character - no one is safe!
5) I really loved Cassie. That’s it. I don’t have more to say. She was perfectly badass while sharing her father’s humor and attitude (which I completely support) so they did a great job with her too.
6) The Ants. They did the movie title justice. It wasn't just some timeline slash multiversal mess, they actually incorporated the ants and Hank's connection to the ants. And the way they started building their own technology? We need to appreciate the intelligence of ants because they're not just smart in the movie, they're also pretty smart insects in real life!
When they came to save everyone’s asses in the end? I was like, ‘You go ants!’ And I liked Hank in this movie too. Jane not so much, but with that I mean her character and not the acting performance. They did all remarkably well.
I’m not a movie critic, so I don't have a professional view of things or whatever, but it was really great and they exceeded my expectations with how the characters were portrayed, what they did and when they appeared. And the casting of Kang is *chef's kiss* honestly. I thought it when watching Loki and I'm even more convinced now that he is going to absolutely kill it in Phase 5. Amazing villain, amazing actor, well done! (Now I sound like one of those critics, but I promise, I'm not. I'm just an obsessed fangirl who doesn't know much, she just likes to watch movies, and now also reads comics, and who's just chronically obsessed with Marvel and everything relating to it.)
6) The foreshadowing at the end, at first, made me think, I knew this would come; the fear of Kang and what he said about everyone dying and Scott worrying about it. I expected that much, but then the mid-credit scene came on and I was like ‘hold up a minute, WHAT?’ When all of Kang’s variants got together to conjure up some evil plan. I did not expect that.
7) AND THEN LOKI IN THE POST-CREDIT SCENE? I thought to myself, maybe we’ll get the trailer for season 2 (and I’m really not that excited for it because of the last season, but I’m still gonna watch the shit out of it), and then the scene came on and I saw Loki AND Mobius together, sniffing out Kang, and I gasped. I audibly gasped. ‘Cause it was an entirely different timeline and I’m not sure if those were our Loki and Mobius or variants, but I guess we’ll find out in the show. And Kang will return, so he IS gonna be the villain of Phase 5 (which we all already knew) and I think that’s awesome.
Maybe I’ll talk some more when I’ve processed what I watched. But for now, that’s what struck me the most.

Theorizing about A Little Drama
Finally got around to watching the play, and I think there is so much more to unpack with it. It’s so much more than simply being a retelling of how Charlie got into the Constant. I mostly wanna talk about the Final Act, Scene 3, but I’ll get there. I have so much to say so bear with me lmao
I write this assuming you’ve already seen all the play, so go finish it/watch it if you haven’t already. There are massive spoilers for it here.
Firstly, the mirror. I initially thought they represented Them, but then I though the fact that they were a singular entity and not a Chorus (as in the Choruses seen in older Greek plays) of some kind implied that They are a singular entity and not a group of higher beings. I went backed and looked at some of Maxwell’s quotes and he sometimes uses “they” (note the lowercase) in reference to Them, so I don’t think They are a singular being. I do think that if we are to use Alter as a reference, being that they’re one of Them and controls a specififc aspect of the Constant, then the mirror could be referring to the one of Them tied to the shadows. I initially thought Metheus but we know she’s the Ancient Fuelweaver (or at least it’s heavily implied she’s the Ancient Fuelweaver), so I don’t think so.
I don’t think they’re Cyclum either, but it is strange that Charlie suddenly has their torch in the Axiom Visus Trailer...could be an explanation for that.
Though, if Cyclum was trying to fend off the nightmares I don’t know why they’d become a shadow god of some kind. Not to mention I think it’s also possible whichever one of Them this is existed before both Metheus and Cyclum, so that debunks both of these ideas entirely.
Tl;dr for this section, the mirror is likely whichever one of Them controls the shadows, not just shadow magic as a whole.
Okay, Charlie time! There’s not too much to say here, but I still wanna talk briefly about this. I think the doll shattering and being repaired by the mirror in Act 2 scenes 2 and 3 could be suggesting Charlie dies and is revived by Them (I’m referring to Them as in the specific one of Them who controls the shadows from here on out). This is a MASSIVE stretch, though. This being said, I think Maxwell and Winona’s commentary on the scene could suggest that Charlie at least remembers it that way (I unfortunately can’t find a clean image of it, but Maxwell says “Does she really remember it that way?” and Winona says “Sis...are you trying to tell me something?” At least something very close to those two things). I find it fascinating that Charlie views The Final Act differently from Maxwell. It also almost seems like she thinks she interfered with Maxwell’s ability to use the magic, considering the mirror says that the doll is going to set it free before the king shatters the doll. Maybe They tried to talk to Charlie in the scene from the Metheus puzzles where she visits Maxwell’s apartment. Maybe that’s why she took the Codex Umbra that night.
At least, I believe she took the Codex specifically.
Act 3 Scene 3. This is so so so much more than simply Charlie taking the throne. From everything we see in this scene and Act 2 scene 2, Charlie makes a deal with Them in order to gain power, or at least return to what she thinks is normal. What’s interesting to me is that the mirror says it’ll restore the doll fully once it gains its power back, but we see the doll become something entirely new, not exactly restored. The doll even says, “I’ve become so much more than I ever dreamed...” Maybe this suggests that Charlie’s original deal was to become herself again rather than the shadow monster, but after she became Queen (aka after her personalities fused), she liked her new state. She was okay with being half-shadow so-to-speak, because it made her feel powerful.
Despite this, in the play the doll promises to find the power to fix the mirror in order to repay them. Part of me thinks Charlie takes pity on Them and wants to restore them to power, since they’ve been so “kind” to her. It’d be kinda cool if this was the case, since it’d show some of OG Charlie is still in there somewhere. She doesn’t have to, given she’s content with her new state of being, but she does anyway. Regardless, it gives us a reason for why Return of Them happened and why Charlie is trying to restore Them.
It’s interesting that Charlie would give the Survivors all this information, though, if this is her overall motivation. Why suddenly reveal your entire past and everything you plan on doing to the only people that are likely trying to stop you and take away what you believe to be immense power? I guess it’s just Charlie having fun on the throne, but even then it’s strange. Could be a hubris thing, like Maxwell and his statues. I’m not sure.
Finally, just a funny note on the epilogue scene. To me that whole scene comes off as Charlie going, “Hey Winona, I’m fine even tho I’m corrupted by potentially evil gods. I know you’re looking for me and worried about me and risking your life for me but it’s all chill trust me :^)”
Oh! One last thing I forgot to mention that’s pretty important! This:
And this:
Now we know why They (as in all of Them, potentially) kept bringing in new people, at least for a time. They lacked power and only a human from Earth could find what They needed to restore it. This being said, it’s interesting Charlie seemed to bring people in, too; I always assumed she brought Walter in, since he was just brought in for no reason it seems. Wanda was brought in because she messed too much with time, and Winona was technically brought in by Charlie but not after she became queen.
This could also explain why we haven’t gotten any new characters recently or why we may not get new ones: because They’ve found their Queen. There is no one else to bring in.
#THEORIZING MY BELOVED#ough I love doing these kinds of posts. helps clear my head :3#ive also been in a massive charlie mood recently so that helps LOL#speaklax#a little drama#charlie dont starve#dst

This Week in BL
April 2021 Part 2
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Love Poison 2 Ep 3 - incomprehensible plot, confusing characters, terrible audio, I’m dropping this one.
Second Chance Ep 2 - they are my adorable babies and I LOVE THEM. Must protect Jeno at all cost. Chris, come on, boy needs you. (They’re the jock/nerd pair.) Then there’s the friend-to-lovers (Paper & Fah) and cafe cute boys (M & Near). We got artful injury tending (finger & lip) and some jealousy or something. Is the script good? Hell no. Is anything happening? Nope. But I’m INVESTED in the nothingness.
Lovely Writer Ep 7 - mostly set in the past, but the child actors they got were decent. I actually liked how they explained Sib’s behavior (I mean losing your BFF + figuring out you’re gay at the same time gotta mess with your head). We got touch my lip, carry baby to bed, let’s sleep facing, face touch, hair touch, and a hand kiss as well as The Kiss. With so many intimacy and caring tropes, I’m well pleased. BONUS: NO SOUND EFFECTS. Please make then have fired the sound tech. OHPLEAESEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE.
Fish Upon The Sky Ep 1 - I like it. Might as well break the 4th wall if you’re gonna do a voice over. Some super cringy moments but I think that’ll improve post makeover. Yet again we have a BL poking fun at its own tropes. 2021 is definitely the year of meta. Oh and Phuwin’s English is really good.
Call It What You Want Ep 1-2 - it’s slow and more arty than I expected. The actor playing the main character looks eerily like Up (Gene in Lovely Writer) + an ex of mine - it’s disconcerting.
Brothers Ep 10 - my two got together and ARE ADORABLE. I actually really like how they dealt with Khun’s seme ownership freak out. That’s some sexy communicating, boys! So many couples (and triads) I’m well confused, but I only love KhunKaow so no one else matters.
Y-Destiny Ep 2 - cute, bit raunchy, kinda fun, about a million tropes in one tiny ep. I’m getting So Much in Love meets something from Strongberry. No bad thing... no real good thing either. But I was expecting a lot worse.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 4 (AKA Ep 7-8) - I don’t wanna blog about it. I can’t even think about it. I’m still gonna keep watching it. Conclusion? I’m trash.
Word of Honor (China) Ep 22-24 - Wen is as much as a drama queen as Gene (in his own special way). Most of his past is now revealed plus obligatory bathing scene. (Is Gong Jun contractually obliged to be topless in all his dramas or is it just for the good of the planet? Asking for a friend.) A good 60% of the time I have no idea what is going on (so many names! who is this Lovelace putz allasudden?) but I don’t care cause they so pretty.
Most Peaceful Place (Vietnam) Ep 3 - didn’t drop this week, or was it only 2 episodes? I’m so confused.
We Best Love 2 (Taiwan) Ep 6 fin - It’s GREAT, they’re great, everyone’s great, the world is great. So pleased to get Shu Yi and his dad talking Japanese. I love it when Taiwan makes use of bilingual actors (see Because of You) almost as much as them flexing their marriage equality muscles. The full circle pool kiss was adorable and this series is officially a favorite. (@heretherebedork your boys don’t end unhappily but they don’t get an HEA either, everyone else does. I think you’d be okay with this one.)
Stand Alones
Tell the World I Love You (Thai BL movie) released into theaters? Or not? Haven’t heard anything about it.
Breaking News
Bite Me got a full trailer and it looks GOOD. Mark Siwat seems to be carrying this one, which is fine, we all know he can (especially if you’ve seen his non-LBC stuff). Quality controls seem relatively high, although this may only be a fund-raising trailer. No eng subs at last check but I’m disposed to be hopeful. It feels like we are in Oxygen territory and that was one of my favorites last year.
You’re My Sky dropped what they’re calling an “official pilot.” No eng subs. I think this is a tester trailer to raise funds. MDL listing makes this sound like a standard college BL, but trailer portrays a sports romance. Stars almost-familiar new faces from Y-Destiny. It’s like we have a new crop of BL actors chomping at the bit to take over from MaxTul or MewGulf, and with the 91 line aging out*, maybe they aren’t wrong?
* Don’t crawl into my craw, they’ve most of ‘em said they don’t wanna keep doing BL after turning 30 and frankly, why should they?
Gossip
Nitiman dropped BTS from their publicity shoot. No eng subs.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Some shows may be listed later than actual air date for International accessibility reasons.
Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.
Spring Line Up:
Close Friend the series (Thai trailer) April 22.
2gether the movie (Thai trailer) April 22 to Thai theaters.
Nitiman (Thai) May 7 on One31.
I Told Sunset About You 2 (Thai) May 27 on LineTV
Ossan’s Love (Hong Kong) June to Viu
I joined MDL under this handle AbsoluteBL. Find me there if you like, currently it’s just ratings, tracking, & three lists:
Japanese BL & Live Action Yaoi Manga
Korean BL
Taiwanese BL
