Story Idea
Telekinetic supervillain who REALLY loves historical architecture. Living in a superhero universe where heroes keep crashing through stained glass windows and leveling entire streets. As well as the normal corruption causing building to be demolished or “restored” in extremely destructive ways.
Kinda has Poison Ivy vibes, without any of the femme fatale trappings - her entire focus is preserving historical valuable buildings, and she doesn’t really care if humans that get in the way die. But she also isn’t going out of her way to kill people.
And the leader of the local superhero team can see where she’s coming from. And decides that just throwing her in jail every time she acts up is a sign they’re failing in their duty to protect the city. Instead, he starts trying to gain her trust. He doesn’t care that much about buildings, but he works on lessening his team’s collateral damage. He promises the supervillain that he’ll try to pressure the city government if she brings problems to him rather than taking them into her own hands. Eventually, he convinces her that she can protect the city’s infrastructure better by being on his team than she can on her own.
She’s incredibly helpful! She will keep burning buildings from collapsing until everyone can get out and the fire is extinguished. She’ll hold skyscrapers up while supervillains reign destruction down around them. She’ll deconstruct traps and grumpily direct her teammates towards the hidden mastermind who set them up. And when the crisis is over, she’ll see what can be salvaged and rebuild it if possible.
But she’s a PR nightmare.
Former Supervillain refuses to help people. She DOES NOT care. Your kid is trapped in the burning building? That is not her problem. Go bother someone else. Dude is holding a bunch of people hostage? It’s fine, he’s not causing any damage to the building he’s in.
People DO NOT like this attitude. People do not accept that she’s part of a team, and other heroes are capable of filling the “empathy” and “human rescuing” gaps.
And she’s high maintenance! The team frequently end up in situations where protecting lives is in conflict with protecting property. They take missions that mean very little to them, because they’re important to her. And the leader is constantly having to talk her out of rampages, pressuring the government to drop lucrative and unethical contracts, and making sure she’s sticking to the plan in the field. And she isn’t interested in interpersonal relationships or social niceties, so none of them are even doing this out of friendship!
-
Sometimes, you help someone not because they’ll be grateful, but because it will make your community better. Sometimes, you help the local drug addict not because he’s likely to turn his life around, but because he smashes less windows when he has a warm, quiet space to stay. And sometimes, keeping that community benefit takes a long term commitment.
I want to see a superhero team turn a villain as harm prevention and then willingly bear the cost of keeping that villain from causing harm. Not because it’s rewarding (though there are rewards) but because it’s more effective than any other method. And I want the villain to go along with it because the heroes actually found a more efficient way for her to reach her goals.
And it being messy for everyone, but I want them to make it work. And it to be worth it, in the end.
#local neurodivergent wonders#how unlikeable a character needs to be before their values no longer matter#before they’re no longer allowed to do good#do they need to learn a lesson first?#learn how to perform social skills?#feel regret for earlier amoral behaviour?#become easy to work with?#just curious this has no echo in my own experience whatsoever#gecko’s fic ideas

Superman doesn't know how to curse
So, Clockwork had sent him to another dimension. No problem with that, he actually liked to explore the different dimensions, though he wondered what "lesson" was there for him to learn.
He avoided all nearby beings (he didn't want to face them, even though he had so many questions for the Martian). His plan was going spectacularly well until he tripped over a chair and hit his foot. The pain was immense and he just started cursing.
Now, Jazz was very sensitive about the "we don't swear in this house" part since he was little so, well, he had to get creative and start swearing in languages she didn't understand. Alien languages he had known in the Infinite Realms.
The first thing that gave away the halfa wasn't the lack of invisibility or the Watchtower-wide intruder alert. No, what gave him away was an embarrassed Superman who didn't know how to explain to his teamates that yes, that boy was speaking in Krypton language, and no, he couldn't translate because he didn't want to repeat what he was saying, but no, it wasn't bad.
Conner and Kara who were visiting laughed at Clark's face, he looked completely mortified. Bruce's insistence on knowing exactly what the boy was saying wasn't helping him. While Conner didn't know as much of the language as the other two Supers, he could tell a curse word when he heard it.
Danny looked up to find many individuals looking at him uncertainly, he chuckled, noticing that a man with bat ears was staring at him and a boy in blue pajamas couldn't bear to look at him.
It was the moment where he realized that his invisibility had failed him, so he did the only thing he could think of: he raised his hand in greeting. And disappeared immediately after.
#dpxdc#Pa and Ma taught him better than that#Clark doesn't curse#Jazz tried with Danny but it didn't work#Danny found a loophole in her no swearing rule after meeting aliens in the Realms and learning their languages#It was strangely easy#Danny doesn't know that he can learn dead languages easy because of his condition as a ghost#dp x dc#dc x dp#Connor and Kara approved#Danny speaking Kryptonian#Danny swearing in Kryptonian#The hit hurted and he couldn't help it#JL is confused#Batman is extremely suspicious but Clark is just embarrassed#There was no lesson#Clockwork was just bored#Danny ended in the Watchtower

miss Toskarin you’re not convincing me that Skyrim was the ruin of all western rpgs. In fact you’re convincing me that the issues began with oblivion.
I'd better be careful or else I might convince you of my less loudly-held beliefs
#I liked oblivion well enough but it's got a lot of Very Serious problems that were never solved and instead festered forward into genre norm#although technically if you want to get more specific here#the problems that I complain most often about now actually started under the surface of morrowind's development#and intensified with the reception to tribunal#and then caught on fire with the lessons learned from bloodmoon (which is proto-oblivion in a lot of ways)#as with so many things the damage was more in the wrong lessons being learned from games with scrappy development cycles#and how those became incredibly toxic when applied as the standard for development rather than a freak accident of planning#consider how oblivion passively fucking up your character was a solution to people trying to play off-build in morrowind#and how skyrim being incredibly easy was a solution to oblivion's level-rotting#and how both of these solutions are solving a symptom by removing friction without replacing it#which is further incentivised because the game now has fewer features that would turn off someone who would otherwise not play an rpg

Hello :D
You're so cool
Anyway have you thought that in your rat sons au Splinter might outlive the boys?
You're very cool :D love your stuff dude
(tw for some blood, light gore, implied overdose (kinda??))
hi copper!!! this is a fantastic question!
so obviously typical irl rats have far shorter lifespans than the average irl tortoise. according to google (yes, be awed by my spectacularly in-depth wealth of research) the average pet rat lives between 2-4 years ish, and the oldest on record lived to be about 7. meanwhile, an African spurred tortoise (Splinter's species) averages more around a 50ish year lifespan in captivity, tho is suspected to possibly exceed 75 or more in the wild.
Now, the mutation does give us a lot of wiggle room for playing with these numbers. For the rat sons boys, id say their natural lifespan probably clocks in at about 45-55 years old? definitely not old by human standards, but not young young either. (though, its also important to note that the boys were exposed to the mutagen just days after being born.)
For Splinter, meanwhile, aging is slightly more complicated. He lived the vast majority of his life as a regular normal African spurred tortoise (well, non-mutated at least. there were perhaps some shenanigans of a more mystical variety going on before he was mutated, but thats a separate matter) He was about 70ish i think? when the boys were born and they were all exposed to the mutagen. so he is already distinctly an old man turtle papa. id guess he'd probably still have another eh lets say 25-30 years after his mutation. he could probably push it a little farther even with some mystic nonsense, but when push comes to shove id say his 'natural' post-mutation lifespan would put his death like a solid decade or two before his sons.
of course, the tricky part of the matter is that theres no way for Splinter to know any of this. theres no way for him to know how the mutation affected them all, or if it even affected them all in the same way. especially since the boys dont show many physical signs of mutation for the first few years, and just kinda look like normal rats, (albeit with a more human sort of intelligence) — what sort of health standard do you hold them to? what if they simply dont show external signs of sickness or old age anymore? how do you actually know if something is wrong?
for a while there Splinter is very worried that one of his babies will just essentially reach the end of their normal rat lifespan, fall and not get up again.
so mostly, he just tries to live in the moment, enjoying whatever time he does have with his little ones, taking each day as a gift <3
still,
that fear
never
really
goes
away.....
#cue the 2003 tmnt dramatic Shredder sound effect TM#my art#rat sons#tmnt au#ask reply#TOOK ME A FULL MONTH TO ANSWER AND IM STILL NOT SUPER PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS BUT#also apologies if shits incohierent im v sick rn#but thank you so much for the question copper!!#a parents grief and terror at the thought of outliving their children#always gets me#and boy howdy these rat babies do Not make that shit easy for ol Splinter#all of them have brushed too close to death too many times#tbh thats probably why he started teaching them ninjutsu etc#like yeah yeah discpline and routine and practice all excellent lessons#but also#yall squishy babies and ur father is Stressed please learn to fight good so its one less thing he has to worry about#sorry splints theyre hamatos now theyre destined for danger#cw blood#cw gore

So um, I've sunk 30 hours into Fields of Mistria and even though this is mostly a bg3 blog, I'm still putting this brainrot here. Enjoy :)
Overstimming Eiland bc I'm down bad
Honestly just imagine it. Imagine taking this sweet, adorable, nerdy man and just making him cum until he cries. He starts off excited, thinking it'll be easy.
Eiland let's his hips buck up into your hand as you jerk him off, throbbing in your grasp as he lets out the prettiest moans of your name. Hands fisting the sheets as he cums for the first time of the night and covers your hand with the sticky white substance. The overstimulation starts creeping up on him when you suck him off afterwards, a buzz spreading through his body as fingers thread in your hair. It's hard for him to contain himself and sit still as his head falls back with every suck around his cock. The way he praises you, telling you how good you feel, voice already starting to crack with the rapid approaching of his next climax.
Eiland starts to think that maybe you'll be done after two, satisfied once he cums on your tongue, but he's wrong. By time he's pressing into you tears gather in his eyes, spurred on by the praise you heap on him. By now the overstimulation has really set in, the archeologist starting to wonder how he's still able to get hard so quickly. Instead, he tries to focus on fucking you and giving you pleasure. It's so hard for him though, when every squeeze you make around him drives him absolutely insane. He feels like some sort of animal rutting into you, pretty pink hair falling into his eyes as he desperately grabs your hips to ground himself. And even when he finally thinks he's done, pulling out and admiring the strings of cum still connecting him to you, he almost sobs when your hand meets his cock again.
He's sure he can't even get it up anymore, but you manage it somehow and he wants to cry. The sounds he lets out now are absolutely pitiful and he can't control any part of his body anymore. Hips bucking, tears trailing down his face, his moans cut off by breathless gasps. Eilands whole body feels like it's on fire and he just wants to scream. He's near the verge of just passing out by time he cums again, for the fourth and final time. His whole body is flushed and sweaty, lungs not able to get enough air in.
Eiland looks so pretty spread across the bed, splayed out in exhaustion and looking thoroughly spent. Shockingly, it's not long before he's asking you to do it again.
#eiland thinks this would be easy just like he thought eating that whole chocolate cake would be easy#man never learns his lesson#i also need him carnally#bri brainrot#bri rambles#fields of mistria smut#fields of mistria x reader#eiland smut#eiland x reader

Why are y’all so fucking obsessed with my sex life akfkakfkakf is it cause you don’t have sex???
#and don’t give me that ‘you talk about it a lot’ cause I know I don’t#and since you CLEARLY have issues with me you’d only know that if you fucking followed me or checked in on me more often#also also I’ve spoken with Louies before#y’all absolutely want him to be Harry’s level of fame#i believe I was once directly told ‘what’s so wrong with wanting him to play the same venues as Harry’#y’all use Louis as your stand in for feeling important in 1D fandom#and solos have ALWAYS pushed YOUR expectations on him#because (again this is something I have been directly told by solos) you want to be able to tell people who you life#and get fucking validation for it#you don’t want to feel ‘weird’ or ‘judged’ for liking someone less mainstream#and that’s something y’all are gonna have to learn to cope with#there is gonna come a time in your life where you tell people the stuff you life#and no one is gonna know what they are#AND GUESS WHAT#THATS OKAY#also also#words mean something#and if something is HARD for someone that generally means it is NOT easy#but I feel like that isn’t something you’ve gotten to in your school lessons yet

"Rhaenys would have been branded a craven and hurt her cause if she ran away!"
The same Rhaenys who kept criticizing Corlys's ambition and Daemon's glory-seeking? The same Rhaenys who kept disparaging men for valuing their ego over their lives? That's the woman you think would sacrifice her life and dragon for an insignificant castle because she would rather die than be called a coward?
(And retreating is not the same as desertion — it'll only be deserting if Rhaenys flew off to far-flung Essos to abandon her allies entirely. If she just flew back to Dragonstone, Rhaenyra wouldn't scold her for not sacrificing her life to defend piddly Rook's Rest when both sides are already precious about protecting their dragons. Losing Rook's Rest won't significantly impact their reputation when they've already lost Duskendale, a more important holding, just that same day.)
This is what happens when you make her the opposite of her book counterpart but still make her do the things book!Rhaenys does. Her engaging in a vainglorious fight knowing she would likely die and cost her side their biggest dragon just doesn't make as much sense anymore, and of course people will question it.
#yes running away is looked down upon in westerosi martial culture#But show!Rhaenys has been consistently shown to think that culture is stupid#hotd spoilers#hotd discourse#hotd#hotd critical#house of the dragon#you can't just follow the book events when you've changed so much that leads up to them#I thought we already learned that lesson from GoT#And this was an easy fix! Just have vhagar pursue her! Make it clear that running away isn't an option#And once she figures that out only then does she decide to strap in fuck it im facing this head on#It wouldn't make her any less badass!#Book!Rhaenys is baratheon-coded so we kinda expect her to make unwise choices but not show!Rhaenys

#finally figured out what was wrong with my writing and why i hated it so much#it’s so easy. i was locked up on show don’t tell and visualising everything as though i was watching a movie#which is a great piece of advice for beginners but i’m already decent at creating an immersive set-up#see my problem was that i was doing too much showing and not enough telling#i guess the second lesson i need to learn after show don’t tell is tell don’t show#literally a rock lifted off my chest. i’m not a bad writer i was just. focusing on (the wrong) details instead of seeing the big picture#despairing over having to describe every action when. i could just. not do that. introspection babey!#elio rambles#this is a v silly realisation but it’s made me so happy
