2 person rant: Deena and Amelie^^
Okay so my first attempt at this fell victim to Tech Issues (it was only a paragraph in though) so I'm trying again.
(Nexomon Extinction spoilers)
THOSE TWO. Listen, I love Amelie and Lydia, you know I do. But Amelie and Deena? Gosh, the parallels!
As has been pointed out before, basically the plot of the game is Solus vs Vados. Deena's child versus Amelie's machine - except that Deena didn't exactly raise Solus, did she? Heck, Amelie probably put more care into Vados than Deena did into Solus, at least directly.
Deena created Solus for a purpose, like Amelie created Vados for a purpose. The same purpose - to stop the Tyrant Wars. They just have different ideas about how to do that.
Because Deena, as per usual, thinks she's the only one who can fix this, via making a convoluted plan, and doesn't tell anyone about it. You can understand why, though - gestures at Xanders. I do, however, believe that if Deena had told Amelie the truth all those years ago, Amelie could have been on her side. But Amelie doesn't have the information Deena does.
And Amelie also thinks she, or rather Vados, is the only one who can fix this. But not for the same reasons as Deena - rather, it's not that she thinks no-one else could, it's that she thinks no-one else can in time. And she doesn't believe Solus can do it. (How much does Amelie really know about Solus in the end?)
And Amelie's tired of fighting. But she'll keep going, to save her people. And Deena's tired too, she's been doing this for millenia, but - for humanity. They both want the same thing, but they're in opposition about how to get it, and that shows through their children.
Their creations, for this purpose, no matter the cost. Their plans, that they barely told anyone about. One is an ally and one an antagonist - but they both did the same thing, in the end.
It's not about their relationship so much, it's about the parallels.
But if we do look at their potential relationship for a second... these similarities can also tie in interestingly with Deena's character, because she can't really judge Amelie without judging herself. If you've been here for a while, you've probably heard my rant on how I think Deena doesn't trust herself, and this will only tie into it more. Amelie thought she was doing the right thing too.
As for Amelie? Well... To go off on a slight tangent, I think Xanders was very much the exception when he attacked Deena. Because she was a colleague, yes, but also because. Nara? Nara the constantly helpful Tyrant, Nara the seeming exception? I don't think Amelie would do the same. But Amelie's post-canon relationship to Deena very much depends on circumstances.
And pre-canon, they're two colleagues hiding secrets, working against each other - one unknowingly, one somewhat deliberately but also ineffectually (Deena, when did you learn of Vados and what exactly did you do about it?).
So yeah these two as a pair interest me mostly because of their similarities, of how they're two opposite sides of a coin.

Life's Light
By: Ash Feng (AKA ME!! :3)
A poem I made a while ago based on Deena reflecting on Zariya's future once said girl joins the Guild. (pre reveal, obvi)
I am Life, and you are my Little Light, They call us Tyrants, They fear our might! But Their hearts are stone and They cannot see, Blinded by years of fear and misery! We are on Their side, we fight with Them! We yearn for peace, we yearn an end to all this mayhem, Yet They hunt us down, They want us dead! They give empty praise and hide Their secrets instead... I know your fate, but you are lost, You don't know your foe, you don't know the cost! When the time is right, will you be the one? Will you shape the world or will you run? As you grow, I know the morning’s close, But this endless night just goes and goes. Underneath the stars, your unknown foes sharpen Their claws. I will always be your voice and fight for our shared cause! We share the vision of a new dawn Where both humans and monsters get along I know you'll fight with courage and with grace! I know you’ll rise and take your true place! And though my time may run out, Do not fret or whine or pout! For while you may not see my face, Or be held in my tight embrace, Remember that I love you with all my might, And that a part of me lives on in you, my sweet Light!

Moonflower [Deena/Selena]
So, I've been completely brain-rotting over these two for a while now (if it wasn't obvious given the sheer amount of art I've done and the fact that I plan on making a full fancomic off the premise). I was going to wait to implement and write all this out through the comic, but frankly, I'm a full-time student AND have a full-time retail job. Free time does not exist.
So, my solution is to word vomit all my ideas about these two, their story/relationship, etc. Things are subject to change as things progress but lord only knows I believe I will simply implode if I can't throw this all Somewhere.
So I present to the five of you active in the Nexomon fandom:
An ungodly long textpost about a relationship that an autistic 20 year old is very mentally ill about:
So, some basic questions out of the way:
Who the fuck is Selena?
Selena is the name I gave the female protagonist from the first Nexomon game. I've given her own character and backstory that follows the first game's plot and all that jazz with some added details relating to her family. Basically, I actually made the protagonist from the first game an actual character.
Why Deena/Selena?
This entire ship became an idea in my brain solely because of the canon appearance of Solus's human form. I saw blue hair and an unknown second parent, thought about the sheer angst of it all, and my brain went on a god damn spree. With some time, I thought even just first game Deena/Protag was cute, so thus, the brain rot continues.
Moonflower?
I think having ship names be something more than just smashing their names together is better. The name itself is from Deena's whole plant/flower/life thing and Selena is because, y'know. Selena. Name relating to the moon. Moonflower. I'm real creative.
Why the name Selena for the protagonist?
Similar to the whole Moonflower name I just based it off another thing, that other thing being Solus/Omnisun. Sun and moon. Once again, I'm super creative.
How close to the canon plot is this AU/story?
So for most of the plot of the first game, it's pretty close. Some scenes would be expanded on, developed relationships more, etc., but otherwise the plot was fine. Soon as we hit the complete ending? Take the previous plot and go ahead and chuck it out the window.
There are similar elements, of course. Raging tyrants, Vados and Amelie, Solus (obviously), but the timeline and characters present is completely different and thus relationships between characters is also very different. Characters like Metta (James) and Ellie are not only still around but are active parts of the story instead of being swept under a rug.
---
So, the way I explain things best is through a QnA sort of format, wherein someone asks a question and I answer it, and go from there. So that's how this is going to be formatted. You can skip around and stuff easier that way too :)
Plot holes that I filled:
Why was Deena a similar age to the main protagonist of the first game?
So, the main protagonist is canonically a child, around 15. They're called a child, act like a child, very clearly a child. The Nexolord (Metta/James) is very clearly an adult. All seems fine there. The problem is:
How is Deena so much younger than all her family?
Deena is canonically kid number 4 out of 7, yet she looks and acts the same age as the main protagonist. And it's not like she just looks young, we see her in Nexomon: Extinction as a whole ass adult, same with the protagonist.
My "fix" for this is to make it that she was not in a place where time ticked by the same way. That place being the Netherworld.
In canon, time doesn't move the same way in the Netherworld that it does in the real world. It seems to either put a complete pause on it, or it moves really, really, slow in comparison to the real world. Which, given it's the Nexomon equivalent of the afterlife (not sure if it's just Hell so I'm just gonna stick with it being the afterlife), makes at least some sense. Time doesn't matter once your dead, whomp whomp.
So how/when did Deena get to the Netherworld?
In my AU, she flees there after being disowned by Omnicron. More specifically, she flees at the beginning of Ulzar's crusade against Omnicron. She knows he's hunting down the children of Omnicron, and after all the damage her siblings and father have done to humanity, she knows he's not going to listen to reason. Not wanting to be found by either her family OR Ulzar, she takes her chances in the Netherworld, where she hides out for a very, very long time. She watches her father and siblings be defeated and their souls are locked away in the Netherworld, and believes all will be fine. All of them are in a place they can't just get out of and do more damage, and she's also safe from them - separated.
That is, until a certain bowling ball with ribbons starts resurrecting them.
Deena catches on to what the Nexolord is doing, and, realizing she can't sit idle as her family tries to destroy the world again, decides to return to the real world. But, because she's been separated from her family for so long and time just doesn't work the same, she looks and acts like a fifteen year old girl. She doesn't know how things in the modern era work, she knows plenty about history, and so hides her lack of knowledge under the guise of being an explorer.
---
Now, onto the more fun part:
How the hell did that relationship become a thing.
On Selena's side, it's real simple - human emotions and all that. There's a joke somewhere about how in my AU Ellie was her childhood crush and something something green hair, light eyes, etc. but that joke comic was made already and go find it on my page /lh /j. Selena's just a simple girl who thinks the green-haired ditz is cute and will follow her around like a sad, lost puppy.
For Deena, however, tis a bit more complicated, but it can be summarized akin to meeting someone who's as passionate as you are, someone who matches your passion and drive and energy.
Selena and Deena both want both monsters and humans to live together happily. The one thing that made Selena "different" in comparison to other people with those ideals is that instead of wishing and waiting, she actually went out to try and do it. She chased down the Nexolord, she fought Omnicron's children, and she never once turned back.
That bravery is something Deena aspires to have. She fled from her father's wrath before, but now, here, was this mortal girl with no special powers facing off against demi-gods without a second thought because she believes in her cause. That, to Deena, is worth so much. That's what makes Selena so special.
All that to say, their relationship is complicated. It's impossible for it not to be. But that whole "fighting for what she believes in" comes in again for Selena - she does really, truly love Deena. She did before and after finding out about her true identity - that didn't change anything for her. And it's through Selena that Deena can really see the best humanity has to offer, and she doesn't want to lose that. Selena has devoted herself entirely to Deena, not as some godly figure or because she's a scary monster, but because she's just Deena, and it's the first time she's been appreciated as herself and not as a title.
They're not perfect. Deena hides her problems and bottles up her emotions while Selena doesn't know when to sit down and stay down when it comes to fighting for what she believes in. They get frustrated with each other, they argue here and there, but they work on things.
And that progress definitely gets accelerated by Solus being born. Hard to argue with one another about how they shouldn't bottle up their problems or should stop letting comments get under their skin about a dumb plan if your trying to keep a small, helpless creature destined to become a literal God in your care.
That's all for now from me but I am ALWAYS open to questions. Anon or not I do not care I am ill about them :3

AS our resident ghost type enthusiast, I ask you:
*holds out microphone
Ghost types. Tell us more. Your thoughts?
Well I'm very glad you asked
(takes the mic out of your hands)
.... Fricking. Ghost types.
Okay so let's start from the beginning, I fricking hate Ulzar but I have to at least half take it into consideration
Bastard said that each of the 7 had their own offspring being Nexomon and that's how they came to be.
How true this is is up to debate, but, still. CoO made nexomon that carry their element, checks out.
No 2 is actually Jin/Atlanta/Lydia. I forgot who says it but I know it's said Jin sealed Fen off so that no more tyrants can be born. And that when Lydia knows you have an egg she immediately tells you to go bother Nadine.
Therefore, I'm going to assume that one must need element powers to hatch tyrants, more specifically laylines. And this makes sense! (Not your post Byeol go to the corner.) I mean, the Plant type tyrant is literally Tikala, who was a warden, because Deena probably wouldn't have. And there's no Psychic because I mean, Solus was a child, nobody came up to them like "hey kid you wanna bless this egg with psychic powers"
... So then. Ghost. Fane.
Where did they come from, genuinely. It can't be Ziegler, he's a normal type. Even if he wasn't it'd still have weird implications.
We have this whole lore and world building about this being the case, and then ghost shows up.
It's the only type without a primordial! How did you exist if you had nothing to come from???
It even has shards and traps! Normal doesn't have shards and traps!!!
So where did you come from??
It has to be something, somehow. I just- it's do weird, AND it's gone in n3!!! It just stayed around a bit and then left, what the heck!!!!!
This is why I have Aster (I promise I'm working on this) and Sasha(This kangaroo won't leave me be istg-) among others. I need reason as to why Ghost is a thing.
I obviously don't think Aster is a thing that canonically happened, so, here's some:
1. Ghost came from Hilda screwing on about, and her curse effecting Nexomon, I'm only willing to accept this if there's 0 ghosts in n3
2. Ghost came from Amelie trying to stop Tyrants. Because imagine pre Solus for a second. Normal was an unstoppable force as far as elements went. No counters, no nothing. So maybe she just fucked about (her or Malk, because James' steppdad would probably have his blood or something from being a scientist and making sure that glass ball has his rabbies shots) making Ghost on accident. If anyone's doing this I expect a Ghost type primordial design on my desk by 5. Because they existed for at least a moment
3. Deena's scrapped plotline of having a different kid first. This fucks up her characterization just a little bit (a lot) though so thread carefully I guess.
4. The abyssal person did it because we still don't know what they are. Seer? Probably. But maybe they're related to Omnicron or something who fricking knows, not me. Also no I don't think it's James sorry other theory person. So maybe it's Kroma? Like the first real Ghost type, I mean I even have a human design, she'd just need some gold...
5. It's Normal decaying at different speeds. Ghost is sometimes described by Decay after all. This one I might have to take in n3, considering I don't think it'd ever get resolved

Now for the other half: story stuff. Now that I've gotten all the venom of today's failure to find Tyrants out of my system, I can talk about the good stuff.
Nexomon Extinction has a legitimately good story. This was really strong. I left off last time after the Drake Isles, but we're now through the full story. I kinda backed out of talking spoilers the first time, but this time it's completely unavoidable.
Omnicron's Tomb is probably the best segment in the game. That whole segment is so funny, it's incredible. The introduction of your character actually using your elemental powers is also a nice bit, especially with the surprised "No one told me you could do that." It's gold. But there's also a lot of setup as far as what's going on there, too.
The real fun is right after. The entire plot has been about how the Nexomon are at war to find a new king, and that several Tyrants are vying for power. A while back, humans created dragons to fight Tyrants and protect humanity, and created an artificial Tyrant to serve as the king of monsters that the dragons would obey. That was Euros. Fifteen years ago, everything went berserk, and the catalyst to this was, it turns out, your birth. Your player character is the last descendant of Omnicron, and child of Nara. Turns out, Deena's been putting a whole plan in motion to set you up as the new Sovereign of Monsters, getting her siblings to help develop your powers so you're ready to ascend the throne as the Tyrant of Light. The whole setup of machinations is really good, but what we particularly love is that this means all of the other children of Omnicron are your aunts and uncles. And there is just something about the concept of wine aunt Nadine that tickles me. We were joking about the babysitting priority order, and we're pretty confident Luxa's at the bottom.
One complaint I did develop, and still hold, for this game, is that the Tyrant War is kinda just background noise. Like...we don't know anything about the Tyrants in play. We know their masters, but Mulcimer doesn't speak until you revive him, and says very little. Even the one that does give the most hints of personality, Tikala, has to have Deena fill in that no, he did care about becoming king, he just hid to try and wait out the war part. Comparatively, they lack for depth, and having reached the postgame where I can acquire all these legendary creatures, I find myself wondering...why would I run anyone but the children of Omnicron? Like no, really. I don't particularly like Luxa, but I at least know about him as a character. If they all were non-entities, I could run with what looks cool or functions well. But in what world am I going to swap out Ventra for Euros? There isn't one. It would never happen. Partially because I can't fucking find him, postgame Tyrant hunting sucks ass, but mostly because Ventra is super cool and has a lot of relevance and Euros is just kinda there.
Vados is the exception. Vados does start speaking, and is a fairly noble and pragmatic creature. When aiming to destroy the desert Tyrant, the Laterians refuse to not fight, and when Amelie talks about how they chose their course, Vados is the one to admonish "I won't hurt humans, Amelie." Vados and Amelie are both pretty interesting, believing that their course is correct. I do think the ultimate aim is a bit...well, extreme. As pointed out by your mentor, Vados cannot be the king of monsters, because it's not a Nexomon, therefore more Tyrants will be born and more will attempt to ascend. It will fight until the literal end of the world, caused by its own hand. Vados, and by extension, Amelie, seem to work on the same moral framework as Xanders: Nexomon are intrinsically evil, and if they're going to keep rising up, then yes, the solution is genocide. We will take them all out for humanity's sake.
The story is still overall very comedic, but I still feel like at times I wish they'd cut the fourth-wall-breaking jokes. This may be more personal preference than anything they're strictly doing wrong, but I do think I don't love it. It does have some absolutely immaculate jokes, though. I think on the whole this game is funnier than the first. While small, one of my favorite bits is Nadine, having use the last of her powers to throw Xanders off a cliff, saying she used all her powers and won't get to see your rise to glory...only to stop, then call to Atlas saying she can't hurt him and to come close, implying reconciliation. Then smacks his ass to the ground and starts to call him a little shit, fading before she can curse at him. That's great. I love Nadine. Though the absolute funniest is still the Yellow Ranger guy trying to jump you from on high, landing wrong and just screaming "MY BONES!" then vanishing. Absolutely hilarious.
As a whole experience, I liked this game a lot more than the first. Which is saying something considering the general vibe I have on being salty about postgame legend hunting. The story is just a lot stronger, reminiscent more of the underworld segment but sustained throughout. The new cast is generally excellent, though I do wish the Tyrants got a little more development. It's just a really good game. With a really unfortunate approach to the postgame legends. No, I will not shut up about this, I'm so mad.

yes yes yes! You said I could so...
I'm not thinking about this one too hard because if I do we'll be here all day. (proceeds to think about it too hard)
also uh, if you see something on here that you would consider a ship, nope, mine now
yes I could have filled this entire list with nexomon characters. (amelie-lydia isn't on here because having written amelie and lydia as a ship before I'm pretty sure it doesn't qualify, but I'm clarifying because I am The Amelie-Lydia Person)
also yes apparently almost none of these people have last names
also yes I feel like I'm missing someone which is why I've been staring at this for so long because What Am I Missing
I considered putting senticousins on there but I feel like I'm not... qualified, I suppose, for that? Which is also the reason I haven't put a couple of others on.
I guess I'll just throw this out as is? Have fun. Tags if anyone wants to: @tulipsnflowers, @musicaldaydreams, @what-would-have-happened, and anyone who sees this and goes "oh that looks fun". No pressure!
Not Shipping Tag Game
Because let’s face it, sometimes siblings/BROTPs/QPRs/etc. are just as fascinating, if not more, than whatever is happening in the romance department.
Tagging @dragongutsixofficial, @rubytactician, @beezonia, @what-is-going-on-im-confused, @phieillydinyia, @purplecatghostposts, @trishacollins, @bittersweetresilience, @faiirygrahamdevanily, @alexandriaellisart, @sillyangstfic, @hartwign, @adastra-rising, @pegasusdrawnchariots and anyone who wants to try! If you think about it, the plot of nexomon:extinction could be summed up as two overworked moms pitting their teenage kids against eachother and the rest of the populace just happens to be caught in the mess

Ya know what? Motivation can go a long way to defining and fleshing out a character.
Knowing why someone does something helps them be memorable, be realistic, and be likeable. Not having a motivation can make them feel bland and stale. Characters suffer from not having a motivation. Case in point: Nexomon Extinction.
Let's go over the positives first. Amelie and Vados both have clear motivations, end goals, and reasons for their actions. They want humanity to live on without the constant threat of Tyrants. It makes them compelling.
However, on the opposite side of the spectrum, Nora and Ross have nothing. Why do they want to become tamers? We don't know. Why do they want to stop Tryants? You are just meant to assume that it's because 'Tyrants are bad :('. That's not compelling. It's boring, and no amount of funny quips or personality can save a character from having a boring story. So....
I gave them motivations myself. And it was pretty simple.
Ross
Ross' parents lived in the westward district of New Ignita, where the housing was less stellar. Ross himslef was a excitable child, depsite barely having turned one. They were making ends meet, but things were... stressful. It became all the more stressful when the entire district was forced to evacuate due to a Tyrant threat. The fire Tyrant of the time (a couple before Mulcimer) had appeared close to New Ignita, specifically the west district. As they were evacuated, they received the news that the entire district was destroyed because the Tyrant got into a fight with the fire Greater Drake, Dracoon. Fed up with everything, Ross' parents decided to leave the continent and start their lives anew somewhere else. They left everything behind at the desert outpost, shoving all of it into the Guild's hands. Even their own child ended up in the hands of a Guild Tamer.
And thus, Ross began to blame the Tyrants for his parents abandoning him. He also began to despise the way they headless destroy human settlements. He also became grateful for the guild tamer who brought him to the Orphanage. Thus, his reason for becoming a Guild Tamer is secure.
Nora
Nora's parents were well known scientists, having put a lot of time and effort into the study of Nexomon as a whole. They had moved to the edge of the Immortal Citadel. Nora, at six years old, adored her parents and wanted to be just like them. Then, the Plant type Tyrant (the one before Tikala) started to move towards Parum city. Nora's parents, ever the observers, noticed that the long spines on the Tryant's back were hollow, and they were probably used to secreate some sort of poison. They then told Nora to stay in the basement as they went to go tell the Guild's front lines. As soon as they had arrived however, the Guild had pissed off the Tyrant to much, and it had started to throw a tantrum and released a poisonous gas into the air. 36 people died due to this gas, including Nora's parents. Nora was found 3 days later near her destroyed house. The only reason she survived is because her parents sealed the basement to prevent external gases from getting in. Deena was found outside of the rubble of her house, and it appeared that a large nexomon had dug her out and freed her. She was found surrounded by fresh flowers.
Nora wanted to join the Guild to study Nexomon, specifically Tyrants, so that what happened to her parents never happens again. While she doesn't have any active hate for Tyrants, Nora struggles with panic attacks and anxiety relating to the powerful Nexomon. Another, smaller goal is to find the Nexomon that saved her from the rubble of her former home.
Xanders
And thus, the stage is set. With both of these backstories and, more importantly, these motivations not only will Nora and Ross be more compelling, but the plot will also take a small but noticeable turn. The player will not only feel bad after the confrontation in Lateria, but Xanders will also become more compelling as a result. Xanders as a character has a similar backstory to Nora and Ross, and he would probably use this to his advantage. He would taunt the player, saying that their closest friends would never support them if they knew they were a Tyrant. And, (hopefully) the moment all of your friends find out that you are a Tyrant on the roof would hit so much harder emotionally, only for all of them to still support you in the end.
Xanders now doubles as a foil for Ross and Nora. All three of them were raised in an orphanage because of a Tyrant getting rid of their parents, but Xanders let his hatred consume him, and he refused to move on. Nora and Ross, in contrast chose to move on and support their friend. And really, that's the compelling thing both of them needed.
#nexomon#nexomon extinction#ross nexomon#nora nexomon#xanders nexomon#writing tips#i guess#anyway the dealers is here#stuff might be of low quailty but it's here#ya no ive been thinkin bout this for a while#like having an understandable motivation is really important#for characters like ross and nora#that's why pokémon rivals are so compelling#i could do an entire post on all of them#just say the word#xanders is a fun character#he's an evil bastard <3 but he deserves to be fleshed out#also#the mysterious tamer/nexomon is in fact deena#so thats fun#nexomon extinction spoilers

Welp, I'm back on the N:E theory dump again... Long story short-ish, when I was looking back on the previous trailers of N1 and the DLC, I noticed an interesting trend despite not showing too much about the story.
Switching out primary characters
Including/Excluding important dialogue
The prologue revealing the main character's "defeat" against the final boss
It doesn't seem like a lot, sure, it puts everything into a flashback sort of scenario to build up the tension. Then I looked back at the Extinction prologue...and it's literally framed the same way.
If you don't want to scroll through my rambling, here's a TL:DR for funsies:
You're still here? Then let the rambling begin! :)
youtube
(Putting in the clip from the official channel since it's literally copied word for word; minus the flavor text for dramatic effect)
While I don't want to completely cram the post with picture examples, the main piece of divide is Amelie's speech against the MC (ie. Luke for continuity). Here's the quick transcript from the prologue vs. the final battle:
"Luke...That boy betrayed us all! Everything that we built...Everything that we've been fighting for...[Edward: A-Amelie! We must retreat now! It's not worth it-] -SHUT UP, EDWARD!! Listen to me, and listen well! If we are to save our planet, Luke must be annihilated! Stand with me! Tall and proud, against the face of evil! Our people will rise as Luke falls! ...I will never forgive you...YOU DOOMED US ALL, LUKE! YOU ACCURSED BRAT!" ~~~ "[Edward: A-Amelie, this is beyond our control! Can't you feel it? We must retreat now! This fight is not worth it-] -Shut up, Edward! Our people shall rise as Luke falls! Annihilate him, Vados! Do not hold back!"
Of course, they cut a lot of the previous monologue since we already know the full gist of the story up to this point, but for Luke to get broadcasted Amelie's hatred for Tyrants (and later you) just before you meet her should've given him some kind of a shock. And even before that, he seems to forced to question his name and appearance from an unknown/unseen voice (Presumably multiple times just from the question "What was your name again?"). Looking back at it post-story, it's easy to see the connection between Solus and Vados as "two heroes on opposite sides" and "two Tyrants fighting for their own vision of world peace", but this could've also been the first instance of Luke doubting who he is as a Nexomon in human skin...
With that in mind, imagine his reaction when, on the very day he's supposed to go out in the world of Nexomon as a tamer, he has a "prophetic" dream where: -He doubts his name -He doubts his overall appearance -A giant fire lizard is destroying the world -A angry lady brands him a coward, traitor, a cursed brat, and practically has all of humanity turned against him as he doomed the world itself -Said angry lady (Amelie) is supposed to be his role model for the Tamer's Guild the second he steps out of the Orphanage and meets her for the very first time
He should've been nervous, deja vu going into overdrive; and after meeting Deena afterward (freezing time itself and giving him the very real warning of something dangerous north of Pinewoods), the only thing he wants is get out of this exam unscathed... And almost like in his dream, as he looks up at the afternoon sky, he sees a shining star:
Even if it was Coco doing the wishing here, it's still sad to know that Luke will never have a normal adventure up to this point...
But if that's the case, where does the whole prologue fit into the story if most of it doesn't come true? There's only so little that made it to the final showdown, and everything else was made for fear factor (in Luke's eyes tbh) And besides, how does the shooting star motif fi-
...Maybe? Of course, there's no real explanation on Byeol's powers (or anything else in that case), so let's just assume that it might have the power to send out prophetic dreams, no matter how twisted or ambiguous they are. And of course I need to look into the angel connections here, so what kind of angel fits the bill? Apparently the angel of dreams, Jeremiel, and oh boy I might've hit the gold mine.
...Now where have I seen that before?
So...Does that mean the prologue revealed Byeol talking to you? It makes sense in a way, all the Tyrants have human-like intelligence and they can talk, so Byeol seemed like the odd one out...at first. Though the only thing that confused me was the "lad" comment, though the only thing I could think of is their connection to Palmaya and there being a pirate npc/tamer on the docks nearby...Maybe they just learned pirate lingo for some reason?
BUT STILL! Even if the game didn't delve into the existential crisis Luke clearly would've gone through the moment he finds out he's a Nexomon in disguise (and Omnicron's heir/grandson), Byeol just gave him that dose on the very day he was supposed to become a Guild tamer (and also get hounded by dragons along the way wouldn't help his affirmations in the slightest). In conclusion, if this little munchkin comes back in any way in N3, I'll be happy to know that Byeol was holding back on some serious hurting behind that cheeky smile of theirs.
#nexomon#nexomon extinction#nexomon spoilers#nexomon extinction spoilers#nexomon byeol#Pulling up all the stops from the official channel here#the longer I wait for N3 the more the theories fester#But just like Metta they're putting Byeol on the backburner here#If no one's going to give the menace a chance then I will!#Youtube

BREAKING NEWS! Second Chance Initiative actually implemented?!?!
By: Wendy Seiran {OC}
Publication date: 1/2/3067*
(SCI logo above, as presented on official pamphlets given out during yesterday's ceremony)
Yesterday, a ceremony was held to 'commemorate' the Second Chance Initiative (SCI) being officially implemented by the Guild to help both Tamer’s and civilians alike with 'Aid Nexomon'. The program, (Founded by Luke and Oliver Windsor) was initially and rightfully rejected by Guildmaster Amelie. Despite public backlash, Grandmaster Deena -with help from a group called the Alliance- spearheaded a movement to accept the initiative.
Here's what Grandmaster Deena had to say during yesterday's ceremony:
"Despite what everyone thinks, the Second Chance Initiative, is a necessity -not just for the Guild, but for all of Aurelia! Every day, Tamers and civilians alike are forced to give up their badges or step down from their jobs. And because of what? Because they were simply born with a disability or acquired one in an accident? The person who's blind? They need a partner who will see for them. The person who's deaf? They need a partner who will hear for them. The person who's mute? They need a partner who will speak for them. The person who suffers from anxiety? They need a partner who will help calm them down when they're overwhelmed. The person with depression? They need a partner who will make them smile, even during their darkest moments. The person with severe PTSD? They need a companion who will help them through difficult flashbacks. No one -child or adult- should be forced to give up their life's work because of a disability that is completely out of their control! It's about giving people a partner who can be their eyes, their ears, their voice, their comfort... their lifeline! Hence why the Second Chance Initiative was made to provide support and opportunities for people who are struggling with disabilities, and to ensure that everyone is given a fair chance, regardless of their abilities," ~Grandmaster Deena, SCI Guild Rep
According to Elizabeth Windsor (Alliance founder, Guild scientist, founding member of SCI), SCI's mission is to and I quote, ''Provide a second chance for people to continue their lives and work regardless of their limitations.''
Now, I know what you’re all thinking: Why would the Guild ever approve such a soft, unrealistic initiative? After all, the Guild is meant to represent strength, determination, and resilience—qualities that define the best of us! And yet, here we are, celebrating a program that, quite frankly, undermines everything the Guild stands for. Let’s not forget why Guildmaster Amelie rejected this initiative in the first place.
"When I first rejected the SCI proposal, my reasoning was simple: practicality and responsibility. The Guild's mission is to protect Aurelia from threats like the Tyrants, Renegades, bandits, and wild Nexomon. This requires individuals who are fully capable of responding swiftly and effectively to crises. While I sympathize with those who face disabilities, emotions alone cannot dictate Guild policy. Our decisions must be rooted in logic, efficiency, and above all, the safety of our people! We cannot afford to compromise the resources that would otherwise go to strengthening the Guild and ensuring the protection of our city. Every time we divert funds to silly programs like this, we risk weakening the core of the Guild itself. And if we’re being honest, the consequences of that will be felt throughout all of Aurelia. I’ve always held the firm belief that individuals who represent the Guild, whether as Tamers or civilians, must be able to operate at their fullest potential. To rely on 'Aid Nexomon' is to support cripples who dare not challenge themselves to rise above their limitations. It enables dependence on outside assistance rather than fostering true growth and strength! While I do understand the... 'noble' intent behind the initiative, there is a fundamental flaw in its logic. The Guild was built on a foundation of personal strength and self-sufficiency. Introducing 'Aid Nexomon' will make people feel like they are being helped when it’s not true empowerment. The Initiative, to put it simply, is a crutch -and the Guild cannot have a crutch. I will not allow our fair and righteous Guild to be a place where we lower our standards for the sake of 'inclusivity'. You do not see Tyrants stopping their attacks because someone cannot see, or because someone is too anxious to face them. This world is cruel and unforgiving and a nightmare -and it demands people to meet that unforgiving nightmare head-on. What Grandmaster Deena and the Alliance fail to understand is that real strength comes from pushing through adversity, not relying on others or on Nexomon to compensate for our shortcomings. These cripples, despite their circumstances, need to learn to stand on their own, not be propped up by artificial crutches. The Guild should not be a place for dependency -it should be a place for those who are capable and willing to fight for themselves and their communities. If we allow people to rely on 'Aid Nexomon' as a solution, where will it end? Will we continue to lower the bar for what is expected of a Tamer? At some point, we must ask ourselves: Are we empowering people, or are we giving them an excuse to stop trying? Our dying world is not for the weak or the dependent. It is for the strong, the resilient, and the capable!" ~Guildmaster Amelie
Tamers and civilians are expected to contribute to society as equals. Introducing 'Aid Nexomon' into the mix doesn't create fairness -it creates dependency. Are we really 'helping' people, or are we just coddling them? Grandmaster Deena claims that ‘Aid Nexomon’ will provide these individuals with a ‘fair chance.’ But I ask you, dear reader, is it fair to allow someone who cannot perform their duties independently to continue putting others at risk? A blind or mute Tamer cannot lead a battle effectively, even with a Nexomon 'aiding' them. These are not just personal struggles -they have real, tangible consequences for the safety of our teams and communities.
Critics of SCI have voiced concerns about the cost, both monetary and societal. Are we as a society truly prepared to pour resources into training Nexomon to accommodate individuals who are not worth our time? These resources could instead bolster the Guild's infrastructure or support real Tamers striving to protect Aurelia from the ever-present threat of the Tyrants!
It’s easy to get swept up in sob stories, but we must remain practical! The Guild's mission is to protect Aurelia, not to act as a charity. We should be investing in those who demonstrate strength, skill, and adaptability -not enabling useless cripples.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be closely monitoring the effects of this program, and I won’t shy away from exposing its inevitable demise. For now, I leave you with this, dear reader: Is the Second Chance Initiative truly about giving everyone a fair chance, or is it just a feel-good policy designed to appease a defective minority? Only time will tell.

SECOND CHANCE AU LORE DUMP PLZ
it'd be my honor anon >:))
So general worldbuilding shit for starters:
The "start" of the AU starts I'd say roughly 10-15 years after Nexomon 1's plot. Selena (Nexomon 1 fem MC) is about 25-30 and the Tamer's Guild is very recently established.
All the protagonists from Nexomon 1 are still alive and play active roles in the story except for some of the minor overseers (Hendrick for example). Alongside them, many of the Nexomon: Extinction cast are present as well as the plot goes on.
If there's anymore questions about that aspect feel free to shoot me another ask, it's hard to define just how/when things happen as the plot takes place over several years.
---
For the plot, I don't wanna give toooo much away as I do plan on writing this all out in a fic (keep your eyes out for that ;)), but I can give a brief synopsis:
Following the defeat of Omnicron, the world's beginning to fall into disarray. Violent and ambitious Nexomon nicknamed "Tyrants" are wreaking havoc, desperate to claim Omnicron's throne.
In response to these devastating attacks, Nexolord Selena works with veteran tamers and former overseers to establish the Tamer's Guild, a place where young tamer beginning training and studying Nexomon in hopes of defending their homes from these Tyrants.
Unknown to the rest of the world, a new "solution" to the tyrant is brewing. Grandmaster Deena disappears for almost a year, and Nexolord Selena begins stepping away from her duties as head of the Tamer's Guild, leaving her apprentice, Amelie, to begin formerly taking over.
Deep within the forests, the solution to the disruption of balance in the world is born, hidden away from prying eyes.
An abomination to most, but the key to salvation.
The heir to the throne: Solus. A child born of the devotion to both Nexomon and humankind.
---
I'm very excited to work on this if you couldn't tell >:3

Okay, guys, you want me to go on about the most pointless things?
Let's go on about Byeol (and a bit about Fane, I suppose), because I am going insane
Alright everyone, for those unaware, this is Byeol:
This is a tyrant in Nexomon: Extinction, his name is Byeol. The problem about this, however.
He isn't a story tyrant, and this... Makes me very interested in him.
Amelie calls Tyrants super powerful Nexomon, but here's the thing. According to Coco, Jin blocked off the entrance to Fenrir's tomb so that no more Tyrants may be hatched
Lydia also says to go bother Nadine because of the egg, and keep in mind, the grass Tyrant is Tikala. A warden. Probably because Deena didn't necessarily want to add fuel to the fire
So then we are already established that Tyrants are probably always hatched.
... So then what of Fane and especially Byeol?
(And there's no Psychic Tyrants because... Solus would be too lil to bonk an egg, and nobody would ask a random kid to do so.)
Well, let's go with the easier one, in which I ask yet again, what's up with the Ghost type? I've wanted to throw hands about it for a long time.
(Ulzar says that the reason Nexomon are, well, a thing is because of the Children of Omnicron. So it makes sense, right? 7 children, 7 elements)
Psychic is a bit trickier because of the fact Mystogen exists. And if we're going of the fact Solus made the psychic type...
Putting a pin in that, rant for another day.
So... What of Ghost?
Well. That's not the point of the post and that's my motivation for writing Doubts.
But! Moving on, Fane. Well, with the assumption they come from eggs, well frick. There's no ghost primordial.
... Which is why I can't speak much of it. We can surely just blame Hilda
... Do you know who we have more of?
Byeol.
Well. Let's see then.
Byeol is a normal type in Palmaya, first and foremost.... We are back to James everyone, anyone who's talked to me isn't surprised
Hi new people, James is how we call the Nexolord on this side of the fandom, moving on.
Assuming that James isn't dead and we take into account this from Nadine:
Well, who am I to argue with Nadine? (Granted, she could mean Grunda or Deena , but.)
.. So, in today's rant. Byeol and Metta, woooo.
First of all, he is in Palmaya(and later around the Orphanage as of the Abyssals but we can put a pin in that because, Abyssals) , which, is definitely not the frozen tundra
But, Merida is in the frozen Tundra, and Atlanta's Tyrant is frosty enough to argue Merida bonked the egg there.
.. So then, Palmaya's free, ey?
Well. That's interesting, further on, I am going to need to grab Metta for a moment
Hello bowling ball, I still think you should be an Armodillo.
Moving on, see this man? Until his siblings he is, unfortunately, not an animal
My only logic conclusion, looking at this man(if we don't take my other James theory into account), is that he's supposed to be a kind of biblically accurate angel, just, ribbons not wings (Thanks for the association Azzie, your hands are red too)
... HMMMM who ELSE has wings and is a normal type...
... WELL THEN.
Additionally, I must point out, Metta has 7 ribbons. If we count the bottom pointy Byeol has he has 8.
... Well, it just happens an additional type is added this time, to bump it from 7 to 8(we already went over why I think Ghost might not count)
.. So then.
And. Well, let's look at it this way. Nivalis and Arqua, they don't look the same. Fona and Mulcimer, er. The closest we have is Ventra and Eurus.
... And, well, Solus and Nara, but surely not
... Byeol could've been a kangaroo or something, but instead-
They're both inanimate object things I can't make sense of. I know Ross said that he was just inspired to make a star thing, but-
... Hm.
What am I trying to say? Nothing really. At the end of the day these are coincidences, likely
Like, n3 protag and James both have a blue hair strand, but that doesn't mean they're like, immediately necessary related kind of thing
... Just makes you think.
(Also, this stated when I made a joking like toddler Byeol human version, and I saw the white hair and went like "...wait")

Title: Hope's Renegades Main characters: [NE protagonist], Nora, Ross, Coco. (partial) Summary:
Ross, Nora, Coco and Hope set off on their journey as unbreakable friends, and whilst they may not always be together they will have each other's backs whatever they may encounter. Like the dragon attacks. Or Hope getting a tyrant egg. Or the four-way telepathy, which they apparently have now. Or the ability to set things on fire with their mind. One way or another, it's going to be an adventure.
