...Wait a minute.

Look at the designs on his ribbons.

They're all the others! They're shaped like the other children of Omnicron, on the ribbon for their element! And then the black ribbon has the diamond pattern seen on Omnicron himself!

He's all of them, he's every one of the other Primordial Tyrants and more! And this is reflected in not only his design, but his moveset too - I figured out that one a while ago but I never noticed the pictures on the ribbons before!

And now I want to write some stuff about him. There's so much potential there.

Might follow up with sources and further explanation if I can be bothered (most of my sources are from the wiki).

Anders:

I'll be honest, I didn't play Awakening before DA2, and I'd heard about a character who pretended to be a Grey Warden (Blackwall). So up until I actually met Anders, I though he was going to be the 'valor-stealing bastard' type of character.

Now though, I think he's a really interesting character! I find him to be one of the more intriguing companions from a thematic standpoint, especially the shift of justice to vengeance.

Favorite moment may be him blowing up the Chantry. Its the culmination of his whole arc through the game, and a really good climax to the whole story.

I've been sitting on making a fic about Anders and my Mage!Hawke, Valorie for a while about their relationship and the moments that built to act 3. Maybe one day I'll sit down and finish it...

Without touching the argument about whether or not Anders was in the right, my most unpopular opinion would probably be that he was kinda obnoxious in Awakening. Like, he was fine mostly, but he had a couple of moments of just being downright annoying or uncomfortable.

My favorite relationship, if it wasn't already obvious, is his relationship with Justice. They just have a really interesting dynamic that you don't get to see very often.

I don't really have any interesting headcanons about Anders. Other than the the Hero of Ferelden is taking care of Ser Pounce-a-Lot for him :)

Fenris:

I think Fenris was the first DA2 companion I heard of. My first impression was something like 'Shonen Protagonist elf with a tragic backstory.' I think I pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one.

Now he's probably one of my favorite companions in Dragon Age in general. I don't really have a good reason for it, I just think hes neat.

Favorite moment is probably his introduction where he rips out the slavers heart. Or maybe his romance scene in Act 3.

Unpopular opinion that Anders and Fenris don't get along, not because of their opinions on the mages, but because Fenris just thinks Anders is obnoxious. (Evidence: "Maybe not all mages are evil, but one in particular is extremely annoying."

A story idea I've had, but not really put much into is Fenris meeting Cole at some point during his travels? It mostly stemmed from the idea of Cole just being like "This bad boy can fit so much fucking TRAUMA" And I've not done much with it other than that.

My favorite relationship is his one with Isabella. I feel like out of all the companions, not only do they get along well, but their banter is just the height of comedy.

My headcanon is that Fenris is dead serious with his insults to Anders, but Anders has just kind of assumed they're jokes.

Merrill:

First impression was just "🥺 Shes so cute!" I was really tempted to jump from Anders romance to hers.

I still absolutely adore her, and still wanna do her romance at some point. But now, I think shes just a really interesting and tragic character. But also going back to origins and doing the dalish origin was just me going "you're not merrill :("

Favorite moment is, and will probably continue to be her quest in Act 3, specifically confronting the clan. Just the absolute sorrow in her voice, and knowing that if the Keeper hadn't sacrificed herself, that could have been Merrill you killed, it hits me so hard every time.

Unpopular opinion that Merrill is actually very capable? I don't really know if this one is unpopular or not, but like, just because Merrill doesn't know human society doesn't make her nayve or stupid.

I've posted a little about this before, but INQUISITOR!MERRILL! I really think this would make for some interesting party dynamics and story beats.

My favorite relationship is, surprise, her relationship with the Keeper. They're just both so stubborn and prideful to the point its almost frustrating to watch at times, but I think the writers did a really good job with them both.

Headcanon that Merrill is just super kind to the whole party (but specifically Anders and Fenris) in spite of how horrible they are to her. Like, she'll bake and leave it on Fenris' doorstep because she doesn't know if he has anything to eat in the mansion. Just. Merrill doing little acts of kindness.

Isabella:

First impression was that I knew she was gonna betray me, but I thought she was cool, so I gave her a pass.

Impression now is that I still think she's cool, but I wish that I could have made my Hawke go with her :(

Favorite moment is her Act 3 friendship scene where she admits that feels shitty for betraying you, and that she wants to be better. We love to see growth.

Unpopular opinion is that I wish Bioware would stop making "sexy" bisexuals/pansexuals (Isabella, Bull, Zevran, etc.) who betray you. Like, this is not a good trope to be continually relying on, not to mention we know they can do better.

I would love to write a story thats just Pirate Isabella shenanagins.

My favorite relationship is hers with a friend/romanced Hawke. Just, seeing how she grows as a person, and really learns to be accountable for her actions is *chef kiss*

Headcanon that Isabella writes regularly to the other party members, even Aveline, because every bisexual needs a found family they would die for.

This made me think about something. Some people feel a connection to plants, or the ocean, or the winds. I’m a wind child, personally. Wind always makes me feel better. I also need to go outside often enough so that my brain can stop feeling horrible. I think this might be because I’m connected to the winds; these people above could be connected to the waters. Just a theory, but one I thought I’d posit.

i have no proof but i don’t have any doubts either that humans have to see the ocean semi regularly (at least once a year) or we go a bit wacko

Report for the Month of February

What does JPDE 1.2 add to the game?

ONE NEW BATTLE SYSTEM (Code) - In case you didn’t see the announcement last time, JPDE now has a new battle system that goes to join the other two. Hope you like JRPGs -in particular Atlus ones- because we’re going turn based on these Grimms. ;D It’s still very basic so your feedback on this is particularly welcome.

Third Week (Writing) - The game now reaches Day 21, allowing you to have three weeks of events and activities.

Weiss’ First Route Event (Writing) - After a certain event during morning classes, you will be able to increase your Dust Knowledge by studying with Weiss in the afternoon. You will also be able to spend time with her on a Saturday, provided you meet the requirements first.

Blake’ First Route Event (Writing) - After a certain event during morning classes, you will be able to increase your Erudition by reading with Blake in the afternoon. You will also be able to spend time with her on a Saturday, provided you meet the requirements first.

Four Character Sets by Amaco (Art) - Oh my god, did we overwork poor Amaco this month but it was necessary. Weiss’ Route needed Jaune and Ren to start, Velvet won the last character poll, and the fourth character... Fufufu.

One 3D Model by BunnyVoid (Art) - Can we praise BunnyVoid’s work ethics and talent any further, at this point? We will try. For now, salivate at the sight of Beacon’s Mess Hall in all its rendered glory.

I actually came up with something for Tikala for my au a few days ago! Lots of headcanons ahead.

Basically this depends on a headcanon I came up with when writing The Era of Omnicron and then got really attached to. That Omnicron tried to kill Nara and Metta saved her life. If she was, briefly, dead...

Or even just close. Tikala might not have finished forming, but started. And then - Hilda. Really powerful dead psychic. Ziegler decided she needed a warden too, and oh look here's a half-formed warden, lets just attach that one to Hilda. Boom. Tikala.

Somehow Hilda (and Deena?) managed to persuade Tikala into an escape, and Hilda and Tikala ended up back in the mortal world. Hilda dead and Tikala not.

(side note the ghosts are so interesting to me because I doubt Ziegler's pleased with their existence and why are some of them just Random Ghosts, Blue and Ulzar. I blame Deena, but that has Implications on its own.)

But another interesting question is - if Tikala's here, then... who was Deena's warden when Xanders killed her? It can't have been Tikala, surely!

Spoilers for n1 postgame and nexomon: extinction

So.

In n1 tikala had nothing, because Deena wasn't dead.

Ulzar still had one for Deena so I assume Tikala existed, but the issue here is, as Hexia beautifully pointed out, they need prisoners to survive

So, what the heck is up with Tikala? Considering Deena was very much alive and trying to get us out if Deena and Ulzar are to be believed

That... I don't have an answer to so, something something Omnicron something.

Afterwards he's casually in n2 as an actual tyrant which. I think it's the same dude, there's no way

I just assume we and Deena convinced him to come on the light side with cookies, or something

My question of a prisoner still remains but this time I'm willing to say Deena did something as the new appointed tyrant of life(she just had the forest title in n1. Heck maybe that's how she got it?)

And then he helps us! Which is very nice of him. I'm kind of shocked Ziegler says nothing in canon, honestly.

But he's genuinely a good person now, trying to be better all that. I mean he helps us, so..

He probably does care about Deena like genuinely, not in the way the other wardens did (especially Hexia.) So, just a good dude in general

Have a piece of writing I found in my drafts.

Nexomon Extinction Spoilers:

They'd taken multiple family photos. The first they'd taken at the orphanage, so it had the building in the background.

Far left was Fenrir, with a charred hat on his head – Zetta had plonked it on to hide the horns, and Fenrir had reflexively set it on fire because Zetta had not warned him. It still managed to make Fenrir look vaguely normal, though if you looked closely you might see the fire in his eyes. He wore a faint smirk on his face, but there was a trace of a smile.

Next to him was Nadine. She'd let her hair down and it was blowing out behind her, despite it not being a windy day. She'd taken her cape off, too, so all in all she didn't look quite so much like she was trying to cosplay her Tyrant form.

Far right was Zetta, a few sparks floating around him – but they could just be considered a trick of the light on the photo. He'd tried, but he was just too excited to stop sparking. He'd taken his visor off too, but he was grinning so much you could barely see his eyes.

Next in from the right was Merida, one of the most practised at looking 'normal'. Though the others had insisted that she not put on her 'happy little volleyball player' façade, so her expression was a little awkward, not quite knowing how to smile.

In the middle were Deena, on the left with her hair down, and Ulrich on the right – better known as the Mentor to some. Both wore proud smiles on their faces, looking at the centrepiece of the photo. Luke, their child – Deena their mother by birth, and Ulrich the one who'd raised them. Luke had said they considered them both their parents, just in different ways.

All in all, it was a nearly normal family photo, which was quite an accomplishment for the Primordial Tyrants.

The others? Not so much.

Suddenly thinking about the fact that Amelie has a greater drake.

It makes a sort of sense - it's Dracon, the exact dragon that you met upon the Isles and that Xanders said he would take to Amelie. That certainly explains how Dracon got to Amelie.

I can't help but think that Lydia probably wants her dragon back. That'd be a fun conversation.

#honestly nothing gets me raging like this #tho the flip side is i did see a woman called Neibh on Facebook the other day saying that hers is the correct way to spell Niamh #and that 'Niamh' is anglicised #i couldn't let it go and commented a massive paragraph about how bh and mh were different letters that just sound similar #and that the original spelling was Niaṁ #and ṁ in the latin alphabet is mh

Oh jesus that gets my goat. I’ve accepted long ago there’s going to be more spelling variations for a name in Irish, so like Maeve/Meabh/Meadhbh etc. But when people just plainly start MAKING UP SHIT like that I get a fuckin’ nose bleed. ALSO, maybe I am misremembering everything I ever learned in Irish, but wouldn’t Neibh be pronounced NAYV, not like NEEV or NEE-UV that Niamh would be pronounced, so like she’s wrong and an idiot????

The tea is that Irish names aren't that bizarre and Irish spelling isn't particularly wild in the grand scheme of languages, anglophones are just used to anglicising names and y'all think Irish is some fiddly dee dee funny fairy language and not like...an actual living language under threat

Cool, ramble ask: Omnicron

Okay. Omnicron.

(nexomon series spoilers)

So as previously mentioned, Omnicron is the character in Nexomon series on my 'just blanket evil' list. Even Xanders is somewhat understandable and has his own morality.

That being said, his character can be an excellent plot device. Need a big bad for someone to beat up? Omnicron! Need a reasoning behind the actions of Omnicron's children? Omnicron!

I have a few back-of-the-pile AUs where one or more of (non-Nara) Omnicron's children gets to beat up Omnicron. They are very satisfying. They also mostly involve time travel, because gestures at the plot of N1 and the fact the redemption arcs happened after it. The alternative is either earlier redemption arcs or a serious amount of canon divergence.

So my number one headcanon is that Omnicron is a terrible father. Probably physically and emotionally abusive too. He didn't want children - he wanted tools, he wanted weapons. That's what the Children of Omnicron are. They're living weapons.

But they're living, so they have their own opinions. Omnicron didn't like that. So how to solve this... simply make sure his weapons stayed sharp and loyal, using whatever he had to to do so. He didn't care about them at all.

I don't think Omnicron was cartoonishly, obviously evil. I think he had a scarier kind of malevolence - the kind that hides itself behind charisma, behind manipulation. Why else would his children follow him, despite everything?

I also think Omnicron deliberately tried to freak out Ulzar, and n1 protag too. A last revenge, or an ambition to someday return and leave the humans weakened? Who can tell. And it worked, too.

It's interesting to compare this to Metta. I think Metta was the most loyal of them all, and I also think he was the one Omnicron was most scared of. Because they're really similar. Both carrying all the elements. Both (in my headcanon) holding ambition and charisma.

I think Omnicron sees Metta as a threat, but doesn't want to act on this because at the moment he has Metta loyal to him and he doesn't want to jeopardise that. I want to do something fun with this someday (mostly make Metta realise this).

But the difference between them is that Metta actually cares. Not about humanity, but about Nexomon, about his siblings, about anyone other than himself. Omnicron doesn't.

Didn't.

Because the other thing about Omnicron is that he's dead. By the time of n2, he's well and truly gone, but the world will never forget his name. Never forget his terrible legacy. Even dead, even with his very soul eviscerated, he's still causing unrest and strife simply because people remember him. And they know how evil he was.

He's a mere object of scary stories, for some, dead and gone. For others, he's a reason to distrust Tyrants. For the Children of Omnicron, he's their traumatic backstory, who moulded them into weapons and they're still trying to erase the marks he made.

For Solus, he's a cautionary tale, a worry in the back of their mind. They're definitely not the only one to make the connection, but they do make the connection, and they'll do all they can to prevent another Omnicron situation. (As, possibly, will others.)

Though evil, Omnicron shaped this world in so many ways, for better or for worse.

Primordial Tyrants headcanons

Lore headcanons I have about the Primordial Tyrants that go in my fics unless there's some reason it won't work. N1 and NE spoilers, but mostly N1-based.

Their human forms are mostly subconscious.

Details can change, accidentally or on purpose, but stuff like broad skin and hair colour tends to stay the same, unchangeable.

Metta's the only one who figured out how to choose his form completely

Deena's human form changed completely once, when she switched to the human side.

She used to have pink hair.

Similarly, their Nexomon forms have differences that vary over time.

Thus explaining their slightly different appearances in the games.

It's a subconscious reflection of themselves, kinda.

Possibly Metta can shapeshift this too. Undecided.

Zetta can move really fast in his human form. None of the others can do this at the moment.

Zetta thinks they could do it if he taught them how (and they bothered to learn), he doesn't think it's just a him thing.

I have a few theories on how exactly this works.

Omnicron can give out an influence on nearby Nexomon.

This influence can be countered by another, similar influence.

Nara is the only one who's figured out how to do this.

and has deliberately refrained from telling her siblings how until she's sure they won't pull an Omnicron.

This was her role in N1! And during the first death of Omnicron, too.

Metta never died the first time around, he just couldn't be found.

hence why he's around in N1 to cause trouble.

Metta can use the powers of all the other CoO, though not as well.

Including Nara's life powers – that's part of how he brought everyone back in N1.

Their human names they chose themselves.

Deena, Fenrir, Nadine, Merida and Zetta picked one human name and stuck with it over thousands of years.

Metta changed human name with every new form he took, and didn't really have a true one.

My headcanon for Grunda changes per fic.

Omnicron never took a human form.

He probably could have done, but he never did.

He was dismissive of his children doing so, but didn't actually stop them as long as they still worked towards his mission.

Omnicron was a terrible father.

Definitely emotionally abusive.

Probably physically abusive too.

Literally only cared about his children as tools to win his war.

It took a while for said children to realise this wasn't normal or good.

possibly until Grunda starts interacting with a lot of children regularly.

Arqua can take her Nexomon form outside of the water, but it's uncomfortable and she's not nearly as powerful.

This was sort of how she got defeated first time.

Ventra likes air with lots of oxygen in.

hence why we found her in a tree.

She lets Luxa have the high can't-breathe air.

Luxa doesn't need to breathe in his Nexomon form.

Theoretically he can swim underwater with no fear of drowning.

In practise Merida gets really angry at him if he electrocutes her ocean.

The CoO accidentally activate their powers when they get emotional.

It's not a purposeful thing. It just happens.

Zetta starts giving off sparks and the air around him becomes electrically charged.

Fenrir accidentally makes himself and the area around him incredibly hot.

With Nadine, the wind around her picks up.

And with Merida the seas start thrashing.

Deena's mostly got a handle on it (mostly by pretending she doesn't have emotions) but she either grows nearby plants or kills them, depending on the exact emotion. Or both at the same time.

Grunda's actually got a handle on it.

Merida can always at least somewhat sense the ocean.

When she's in Arqua form in the water she can sense a ship on the other side of the continent!

At least some of the Children of Omnicron have managed to miss the fact that having two birth parents is mandatory for humans.

In their defense. Omnicron was a single father.

And Deena was a single mother.

Add that to the amount of children being raised by one parent, and it's not that unreasonable.

They just sort of assumed that when there were two parents, one of the human parents was the actual birth parent and the other one was the first one's partner.

Grunda probably figured out this wasn't true shortly after he started running an orphanage.

This isn't a thing that comes up regularly, so it might take a while for the rest of them to realise…

The Primordial Tyrants have no biological gender.

They picked up the whole 'gender' thing at about the same time as their human names.

Omnicron didn't pick one, but nor did he seem to care, so no-one corrected the humans when they assigned him one.

They may or may not know that humans have biological differences often correlated with said gender. At least Grunda knows.

They have a tendency to get attached to things or people and then get very protective of them.

This is basically their version of innate morality.

Kinda like Tiffany Aching from Discworld.

Nara just managed to get attached to humanity itself.

Once the CoO got on humanity's side, the continent basically stopped having major natural disasters.

Because they can stop a storm or tsunami or earthquake or whatever in its tracks.

Not because they were starting them.

They might have been starting them way back when, but they wouldn't have been behind every natural disaster.

I have other, more personality-based headcanons for them as well, but they're a lot less formulated so I'm leaving them out for now.
