Over the past few years, I've seen umpteen ally-authored positivity posts telling me that my aromantic experience and identity is not lessened, weakened, negated or erased by allosexuality.

But I've been wondering at the wording.

What if we were also told that our aromanticism can be nurtured, empowered, encouraged or even enriched by our allosexuality? That it can be regarded as much more than a not-diminishing-or-erasing accompaniment to my aromanticism?

At any point in my years as an aro, have allies ever told me that my allosexuality holds the potential to enrich my aromantic identity?

(Have I ever conceived of the idea to write this myself, in all the words--fictional and non-fictional--I have devoted to exploring allosexual aromanticism? What would I write about if I took my aromanticism is empowered by my allosexuality as my thesis?)

Over and over again, I am explicitly told that my allosexuality doesn't make me less aromantic than if I were asexual and/or not-allosexual.

(In practice, however, I am still subject to a thundering chorus of implicit messages stating the direct opposite.)

In ally-authored validations directed at allo-aros, messages telling us that we are not a negative concept, or our allosexuality is not a negative concept, are still more common than stand-alone celebratory, affirming language. Positivity less commonly exists without reference to the negative stereotypes, erasure or antagonism we experience as allosexual aromantics.

What I hear is this: I am not the awfulness our allosexuality isn't or shouldn't be (or doesn't actually contribute to), as aromantics. While true, this message is more about what allosexuality is not than what affirming or celebratory things (especially in relationship to our aromantic experiences and identities) it is or can be.

Maybe it's just me--but positivity posts telling me only what my allosexuality isn't no longer feel quite so revolutionary.

plagued by thoughts of barbie and queerness

specifically after my friend and i went to see it and were discussing it and i brought up the obvious queer coding she said ‘oh yeah weird barbie’ and i went ‘oh. no? stereotypical barbie??’

and when we unpacked it further i realised that she’d seen weird barbie as inherently queer bc of the way she’d been ostracised and called names that she made her own in time and could never fit in with the other barbies because of who she was and how she looked? and i saw stereotypical barbie as queer because of her lack of attraction to the people she was meant to be attracted to, liking them but never able to do so in the way they liked her. of being expected to act and be certain ways because of how she looked and the life she lived but not really wanting those things

honestly i don’t really have a point with this it’s just been ceaselessly rattling around in my lil brain

The Tommy hate from Buddie fans is because they're mad Tommy "took the place of Eddie" -that never was, romantically and it has caused this thinly-veiled bitterness disguised by callouts of racism for shipping 2 white guys.

The Tarlos hate from Buddie fans is lack of media understanding and maybe (definitely) an underlayer of bitterness for a ship that was allowed to kiss on a primitime television show right out the gate, therefore it shows up in reasonings of this ship having "a lack of development" and obvious homophobic offenses such as, "not being manly" or "not straight-passing" (which also isn't even close to true), that in addition to being nasty attempts at insults as people shipping their own queer ship (fanon or not) amounts to the summation of thinly-veiled bitterness.

My SO has been a huge fan ever since he was little, he sometimes used to cosplay as a loner while playing airsoft so of course I got a little familiar with the game after all these years. I used to watch him play Anomaly a lot and those lunatics' voices were the first thing that stuck with me. It's so fucking HOT I'm not joking 😭

2 weeks ago I decided to try the games then as everyone else (I think), I also tried Anomaly which is currently my favourite modded version. I was like might as well understand these hotties so I looked up their lines with translations and it MADE IT EVEN WORSE 🤣 Idk what's wrong with my head to find a brainwashed terminator soldier come towards me calling me a worm and saying I will be eradicated lol it's the voice 100% because the first version they had is not so good imo. #1 enemies so far with mercs as #2, I love a good fight.

Anyway the next thing that made it worse is fucking Faust and Strider in HoC. Especially Faust with the Engilsh voice. Damn 🔥

Also I'm possibly an awful person for this but when Strider turns into that terminator of a soldier again with those creepy eyes, made me weak in the knees. Like I feel so sorry for him but I also find him fucking attractive like that 😭 and I hate violence irl
