#can’t help but recognize how kieran is a fantastic unspoken representation of autism #i see a lot of myself in him and the way that he is so isolated and lonely and yet cannot help but perform and find solace in his daily #routines is so heartbreaking in its own way to me. like no matter what you do or where you are you have no choice but to be yourself and fun #nction the only way you know how and it will never not be vastly different from everyone else. and when you’re surrounded by people who DONT #like you and will not accommodate and are not at all willing or curious in understanding WHY you are the way you are you’re left to just ….#live in your own head forever. i’m certain kieran thinks many wonderous things and sees the world in a beautiful light and i know this becau #se i am autistic myself and because of that i see the world in colours that neurotypical people will never comprehend but we’re never allowe #d to see the world through kieran’s eyes. we are never allowed to see where his heart rests or the poetry he waxes or what he believes or wh #at his triggers are or what’s a stim and what’s just habit or anything. anything. the breeze sounds different to him and he can hear birds f #or miles and the sun makes every hair on his arms tingle and that’s why he wears layers everywhere and every green he sees sings a beautiful #song to him and yet we’ll never know. because he is too different even for the van der linde gang. he is incomprehensible to them and he doe #s all of his 4/5 daily tasks over and over and over again and while he would always do them and will always do them because they are innate #to him no one will ever know just what they mean to him. no one will ever know that kieran duffy can distinguish the horses behind him by th #eir breathing cadences behind him as he scrubs the spare saddle with the sun high above his head and he can know when something is wrong bec #ause he can hear it. no one will ever know that he CAN read but the only thing he’s interested in is books about wildlife and horses and fis #h in particular and no one will ever know because he knows no one will ever understand or even care and if they do they’ll be sure to make #it a point to tell him how DIFFERENT he is. and realistically even if the vdl’s DID come around to liking him he STILL would NEVER be unders #tood. i know for certain he would always be described as odd and despite its new affectionate approach he would still be the odd one out wit #h his daily routines and his texture preferences and his inability to make eye contact and his erratic seemingly random triggers and his #anxiety that seems to have a mind of its own. no one would ever know how bright the tree leaves are in his eyes or how every horse smells di #fferent or why sometimes it’s more fun to reel his rod in over and over instead of actually catching a fish. he will always be …. different.#sorry. novel moment. he means a lot to me.#i’m not super happy with how he looks in these but i’m just trying to draw more :’) i always say that but i always mean it too #also if my novel makes no sense then just ignore it. it’s late and my head hurts. i tend to get tangential #rdr2 #red dead redemption 2 #kieran duffy #image #art #hero draws sometimes

Penguin wings look so silly to me, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. Mainly because I'm used to view them as some sort of "hands" or replacement for "arms" in silhouettes of certain characters (maybe not the best example but...like PPP from Kemono Friends, I know the "wings" are sleeves but basically like that, it's that shape) so it's kinda strange but cute to see them as back wings and I really like it <3 /pos

Have you thought of any other Go characters' bird types? Just curious, like always (I'm clearly biased towards Go, what can I say? But any other characters from Endou's generation are also fine). Do you think some teams would have certain bird types, for example, Kaio Gakuen being composed of players with water bird wings or something like that? Or would they be more diverse?

Oh and, since you mentioned we can drop ideas I'll humbly leave mines here: the only thing I could think of was Kirino as a dove (I do love the hummingbird version though), either the typical white dove or a key west quail dove, I couldn't choose; and also, I thought of Taiyou as a bird-of-paradise mainly for the colors

penguin wings (or flippers, to be accurate) sure feel more like arms than wings, but I guess that's just going to be a part of their oddity in the AU, haha!

I haven't thought much about other teams yet, but I think it'd be fun if there was a general theme for each of them! not a strict rule, as there could be individuals with other vibes, but as a general rule of thumb. as you said, Kaiou would have a water theme, maybe with gulls and such! (I can't decide on characters but there would be a great cormorant, northern gannet, and albatros) Genei could work as corvids, as they're kinda like tricksters? and I can imagine Dragonlink being all white herons, storks, and such.

the key west quail dove would work really well with Kirino!! and yes I'm gonna take that Taiyou pick for myself, and make him a greater bird of paradise! (yes, that's the species name) I think the plumes aren't really part of wings, but I'm keeping them because Taiyou deserves a bit of extra flare!

I love the rhyming on ttpd. can only think of two examples currently but I know there’s more.

#the dancing phantoms on the terrace do they get second hand embarrassed #is e v e r y t h I n g #but also I can’t stop thinking about:#you. look. like. taylor swift. in this light—we’re lovin’ it #like just the flow. the cadence. not even just the rhyme but #her ease with language and playfulness with it and all the little pockets and corners of so many songs #even ones you think you don’t like. settle in with time!#like the thing about taylor is that she is VERY much a poet #in that some of her genius/way with words is innate #and the images and stuff she uses the turns of phrase can feel so garish and embarrassing on first listen #they JAR #but honestly I think it’s because she is truly …. new? she is doing something NEW #and the shock and outrage that always goes with new things is always present with a Taylor album #and I think she’s drawing on so much from the past to write but she is so deeply rooted in the present cultural moment #so it’s so easy to dismiss her writing on first glance as like. idk a college girl’s idea of poetry #as being too Stark or Melodramatic.#she loves OBVIOUS imagery and extremely dramatic ones too #but she isn’t actually just throwing stuff at the wall #because pretty much always. it starts to land and soften and settle #and the image she’s chosen has done its job of drawing you into a world #and/or communicating an emotion #and sometimes it’s so upsetting. like. get me out of the bedroom with Matty Healy taylor!!!!!!!!!! but. the art is art-ing!#I guess is what I’m saying. she’s good at this it isn’t just hype #but some of it really is that she’s taking us places we might not want to go or are so quick to pass judgment on #as being unworthy of a song or more importantly a poem. but present art HAS to do that #and does do it!!!!!! idk I am just. musing

#photo diary #image 1 - pretty sky!.. so many sky photos as always #2 & 3 - baby son keeping me company during one of my Sickness days where I kind of just sit on the floor in a blanket #for hours slowly sipping pedialyte and having applesauce and such lol #He likes to bite the squeezy apple sauce pouches.. and try to steal the heating pad #4. Sky again. lighter more scattered fluffy clouds.#5 - greeting card that I drew at someone's request so they could send it to their elderly family member lol.. It's like.. cats baking #in a kitchen I guess? My eternal curse.. being the number one lover of cats in the world yet still somehow barely having a grasp #on their anatomy so they always look ridiculous when I draw them. I have both drawn and looked at cats for my entire life basically #yet somehow those two things do not come together to make me a good cat artist.. alas..#6 - underpart of an outfit I did (and havent yet posted of course because of my evil backlog of onemillion drafted posts)#I took the main dress off the top but thought the underneath part looked cool on it's own as well #7 - more sky.#8 - Mushroom fettucini alfredo. steak. and grilled asparagus. A fun little meal for me though I can't remember the occasion. I think maybe #as a reward for getting my covid booster or something. Though I still feel it's not as much of a reward when I am personally cooking #everything myself at home gjhbjh.. so its like... I'm having to do quite a lot of labor which makes it feel less relaxing I suppose. but eh #a treat in some form. Still cheaper by overall cost than ordering from a restaurant - and also can be customized and prepared #exactly how I like - which is the point. I guess more I just wish I weren't the only cooking person in the house. Everyone could #take turns making special meals for each other rather than like.. ''hmm I feel like having a treat. suppose I shall spend an hour #making it all myself and then feel tired whilst eating it'' lol.. ANYWAY #9 - and then.. you guessed it..MORE sky pictures!!! This time pinky bluey and so on.. huzzah..#A very sky heavy entry into the photo diaries I suppose #The sky in the 1st/7th image is jsut very ethereal seeming to me. something about the way the lighting is behind the clouds. It's #transportive. An interesting sky will make me feel like many other places in time or things I've seen in dreams or something. You get #a sense of being in a different world or like you're looking out over something you once imagined whilst reading a storybook. maybe lol

#thank you to Grace for the idea of making his chivarly collar red bull instead <33333 #he was gonna have both collars but then making that one made me suffer so no not today #this was a lot of fun but also made me suffer. but i keep looking at it and being like AAAHHHHH BABY!!! #Monster noises #unlike my usual Art Gripe posts this one isn't about me looking at my art and seeing something Mediocre #it's me looking at the Objectively Technically Successful thing I'm working on/recently posted and Feeling Nothing From It #and I mean sure we'll chalk a little bit of that up to the depression #cause whether or not I'm feeling Things about the stylization of my work I Should be more giddy than I am #about the husbands finally getting Nasty #outside of just my brain space #but putting that aside the point remains #I'm disappointed by the pieces (and many of my recent pieces and many pieces going back years) lack of Dynamism #I want to capture what the Feeling in image is more than an actual Depiction of the Thing if that makes sense?#Poses should be Pushed #Anatomy eskewed for Shape and expression #but I always always Always Shrink Back #I get to a point and I start thinking 'this looks wrong' and I pull back #I pull back to try and make it look 'right'#and end up reducing it to something...#not Stiff #but limp?#metaphysically Limp #Lacking in the evocative expression I wanted it to have #can you /feel/ the arch of his back like a melody in the back of your head?#or is he just like.. clearly arching his back like a human person would #there's a tacit difference and I am disappointment how rarely I hit the mark on the former #and this is an Old thing and Old old thing #that started in highschool #a long-term bad chain of experiences with a friend and trying to learn to be better artists together #not understanding my needs and how my brain works and trying to fit in a very specific hole i didn't want to fit in #and being chastised for it (though the slight was probably more Received than Intended)#what broke me out of that last time #and kept me from giving up drawing basically
