Thought of the day(3)
Derivakat songs on mdzs.
Like it goes hand in hand???
See, "why?" By her goes perfectly to the relationship between jiang cheng and wei wuxian.
I'll write some of the lyrics just so you can see it
So why? (why) Why did you lie? (lie) Why did your words amount to nothing? (nothing) And why? (why) Why did it fall? (fall) Why did you leave me here with nothing? (nothing) Look at what you've done, is this your happy ending? (Is this your happy ending?) Look around and see, this is history repeating (history repeating) Do you even care that you've left things beyond repair? (beyond repair) It was by your hand, you've turned a masterpiece into a nightmare (nightmare)
I know its not the perfect fit but i think this is what jiang cheng wouldve probably felt like towards wei wuixan..
Also, "doomsday" i think goes pretty parallel to the massacre of the nightless city.
Theses are just examples from songs of the smp, if you have more thoughts on this( i hope you do) then reblog this so i know i am not going insane alone.
EDIT: okay i am going insane alone, but i just listened to , " kiss your dreams goodbye" and idk how i didnt hear this before but this is the chorus
Face your fears, hide your tears Endless night, say goodbye Chaos always wins You'll pay for your sins Watch from behind a mask This life will be your last Lights flash, break through the darkness And sides clash, they're calling me heartless But I don't care anymore I don't care, I don't care You can kiss your dreams goodbye Keep you in the dark Go and kiss your dreams goodbye You know I'm never far Go and kiss your dreams goodbye
I dont think i need to read into it further to make you understand like it fits so well..
Also songs like tell your story that kinda go with wen ning towards the wen remanents or lan wangji in the 16 years when he told the juniors bout wwx
It is 4:23 pm
(Its 2 :26 pm at time of edit)
Buh byee

MDZS Social Media Headcanons
Wei Wuxian has a Tumblr, is shamelessly horny on main, reblogs pictures of rabbits and various memes and shitposts, thirst posts a lot about his husband, has like 150k followers because he is funny, hot and has hilariously unhinged responses to anon hate.
He also has a TikTok that the juniors roped him into and they're exploiting him for views because he was a huge hit with that "small waist, pretty face and a big bank" trend a while back. Also he's a really good dancer.
Has made several videos playing the flute and people want him to collab with Lizzo.
Also has an instagram with one million followers because have you seen this man? Brands have reached out to him for collabs but he finds influencer culture "cringe" and doesn't do paid sponsorships.
Is thinking about making a YouTube channel for corny couple challenges and pranks.
Has a snapchat he uses to send...stuff to his husband.
Lan Wangji has a photography instagram where he posts very artsy pictures of Wei Ying and Sizhui, nature shots, animal portraits and etc.
Accidentally posted a shirtless picture once and it went viral with 100k likes and a modelling contract in his DMs.
The juniors once stole his phone to look through his DMs and it was full of people asking him to step on them.
The only active conversation was with Wei Ying in which they're sending cute bunny pictures to one another and the occasional memes.
His most popular picture was one of his wedding shots with Wei Ying, followed by a beautiful picture from their honeymoon with Wei Ying staring out at the ocean in bed (after he'd been railed within an inch of his life but the Internet doesn't need to know that)
He also has a WhatsApp for the family groupchat with the Lans and to talk to Lan Qiren.
LWJ also has a Facebook account from many years ago but it's mostly so he can use the Messenger feature and never uses it otherwise.
Lan Sizhui has an Instagram study account that's very successful.
Is brand ambassador to some fancy brand of stationery and regularly does giveaways that he refuses to rig in favor of his friends no matter how much Jingyi cries to him about it.
Occasionally posts a selfie with his friends or his dads. He has a tiktok account for aesthetic videos and is into light academia. Sometimes appears in his friends' videos and he's always a hit because he's cute.
Uses WhatsApp for the family groupchat and Facebook Messenger for the juniors groupchat.
Has extensive meme culture because he has been using Tumblr since he was 12 but he's lowkey about it.
Also has a Pinterest account and like 30 different neatly arranged collections.
Lan Jingyi has all the social media accounts you can think of.
His favorite is Tumblr because he likes talking shit about Jin Ling here without anyone knowing (except WWX).
Is a devoted user of kungpowpenis.
His posts regularly end up crossposted on Instagram and Twitter and he thinks that means he's famous.
Has blown his monthly allowance on Tumblr Blaze at least once.
He's mutuals with WWX and they send memes back and forth to each other constantly.
Only uses reddit to go on r/AITA and read the stories to his friends so they can judge strangers and gossip when they're bored.
Has made an "AITA for playfully calling my friend 'princess' even though he's a 16 year old male?" and everyone voted NTA except one single person who said YTA, with the username FairyPuppy63 but Jin Ling swears it's not him (it is)
Is famous on YouTube for his prank videos and gets sponsorships from every stereotypical YouTube sponsoring brand you can think of: Skillshare, Honey, Casetify etc. At the end of every one of these ad segments, his punchline is "you would do it too for a check!"
Has a lot of Instagram followers because he's too damn photogenic and his captions are really funny
Uses Facebook ironically
Has attempted to rename the Lan family groupchat "The Lan-ily". Lan Qiren was not amused.
Has given nicknames to everyone in the juniors groupchat. Jin Ling is "maidenless behavior", Ouyang Zizhen is "slowburn 300k coffee shop AU", Sizhui is "the Lan braincell" and his own nickname is "Swag-yi"
Loves using reaction images and gifs
Is tiktok famous for making funny skits and videos
Jin Ling has the stereotypical rich kid Instagram with a few million followers (because the aesthetic is amazing). Everyone thinks he gets his photos professionally taken every time but it's actually just Jiang Cheng with a Canon camera and a dream.
Loves posting pictures of and with Fairy and his fanbase adores her
Has at least one of those stereotypical hand-on-Rolls-Royce-wheel-with-Rolex-at-the-wrist photos and Jingyi is up in his comments in all caps saying Jin Ling doesn't actually kmow how to drive and that's his uncle's car (everyone thus becomes very interested about the uncle).
Posts pictures from business meetings he has to attend as soon-to-be heir and uses those cringe #thegrindneverstops hashtags
Posts OOTD stories from glass elevators every day
Has posted a picture with Jin Guangyao and Jiang Cheng once after a birthday dinner and his comments were so thirsty. The phrase "UILF" was the only discernible thing in a long row of heart emojis and woof woof bark bark awoogas
Also has a Tumblr and follows Jingyi but neither realize who the other is
Jin Guangyao made him create a LinkedIn and he loathes it
Has a Facebook to talk to Jiang Cheng and he gets constantly tagged in those pictures about being a good, grateful child
Has two Reddit accounts he uses when he's bored, loves looking at pictures of dogs there
Only has a Twitter account to follow celebs on it
He's TikTok famous because of his instagram and also because he's pretty. Mostly posts videos of Fairy and other random dogs he sees around, the occasional rant from a car that is probably not his to drive, has made a few fashion haul videos and his most popular one is a video of a night cityscape taken from a helicopter
Ouyang Zizhen has a very successful Wattpad account with thousands of likes and hits. His most popular original story is based on WangXian.
Has several tumblr accounts for all the fandoms he is in and writes a lot of fanfiction for each of them. Has made an AO3 too.
Has a book TikTok account that he's popular for. His reviews are unbiased and lowkey really funny.
Gains a lot of Instagram followers from this and converts his account to an aesthetic poetry one
Has started one of those businesses writing letters from comfort characters after he blew up on BookTok and he's making bank from it.
Uses Messenger for the groupchat with the juniors and to talk to his dad.
Jiang Cheng has a Facebook account. He doesn't post anything on it, shares pictures with random quotes he agrees with, stalks people on there every now and then and is prone to accidentally sharing fake news.
Sometimes posts shady things with this ‼️ emoji as a caption
Has several pictures of Jin Ling as a baby and toddler that he would rather die than delete.
Has gotten in heated arguments in comment sections of posts he sees and he invests too much time in trying to prove some Internet stranger that they're an idiot.
Also has a LinkedIn profile that's actually pretty well-kept. His profile picture is one of those professional, white wall behind, suit and tie shots and he looks surprisingly good in it.
Does not get the hype over that one picture Jin Ling posted with him and Jin Guangyao and he refuses to acknowledge the phrase UILF
Has a secret Twitter on which he rants about his life. He has gained a bit of a following and several DMs with links to therapy centers but he deletes them all.
Tried the reddit AITA thing and got told he was the asshole so many times he deleted it completely
Jin Ling set him a Tinder profile as a dare he got from Jingyi and let's just say, he did not have a fun time and now has the world's moat complicated phone passcode.
Jin Guangyao is the picture of perfect online self presentation. He has an Instagram page, a Facebook page, a LinkedIn profile and a WhatsApp account.
He doesn't bother to manage any of these himself, has a social media manager with a fat salary to deal with everything.
When he gets cancelled, the social media manager is the first person to get fired. Looks like he needed DaBaby's PR team to deal with all that
His accounts read like luxury brand accounts: obscenely rich and unapologetic about it
Actually has a pretty big thirst following but they're tame cause he's married
Has pushed the self-made man narrative a lot and always hints at it in his captions
Nie Huaisang has a very popular tea and commentary channel on YouTube called "The Headshaker News"
He has a golden button and makes bank in sponsorships
His videos are very well-made and entertaining and he has hilarious and often shady commentary
He's the first to report on the newest drama and everybody wonders how he gets such juicy intel
The first person to hint at JGY's shadiness but it was so subtle that nobody referenced him when JGY got cancelled
Has a second YouTube account in which he discusses art and has a popular series about the history of fans and how to use them to convey messages
Goes to all the influencer events and tweets all about it on his account with the same handle as his YouTube. People live for his reactions.
Also has side Twitter accounts that seem super legit and has used them to make the #cancelleddimples trend when JGY was exposed
Also has an art instagram account and a successful etsy shop that he's thinking to upgrade to a full-fledged business.
Lan Xichen has an instagram account with a huge following because he's hot. That's it, that's the reason. He tries to go for a minimalist luxury aesthetic but everyone is there to gawk at the First Jade of Lan (that's his username btw).
Has several sponsorships from gyms and his gym pictures are his most liked content. Go figure.
He also posts a lot about tea. Makes reviews of various brands and types and tastes on IG Reels and they're actually quite informative and pleasant to watch. His voice is really soothing and people enjoy these videos a lot. Has been recommended to try doing ASMR because of it but he finds it strange.
Has shared pictures of his calligraphy and it turned out to be a hit, so he made a YouTube channel in which he teaches people how to do it.

Proud Author of a New Work
~*~
I'd like to slip something into your Proud fic from a new author before you go, if that's OK? (I've loved ur blog SO MUCH and just always thought it'd be cool if you one day recc'd it when it was done/here what u think). [Thank you! I'm so sorry I'm going away :(]
It's not finished yet. It's wangxian with intersex wwx and unexpected baby (not a-yuan), post sunshot. Wwx doesn't run away with wens, they're freed differently. Political intrigue, yunmeng siblings feels, LOTS of worldbuilding and ocs. Characters who didn't get names or backstories get them, including but not limited to Mama Lan &Yanling Daoren. Good brother in law Jin zixuan. Lan zhan has friends. Xxc getting to meet wwx. (Not all of this has happened in fic yet, but planned). Mxy pov and mo family development. Good brother jzx, good siblings jc and jyl. Wwx finds out what happened to his parents. Political intrigue, character exploration, ocs include juniors from various sects & civilians. Lotus pier and Jiang sect development. Jiang yanli, Jin zixuan, and wen remnants live. Rogue cultivator wen Ning. Child xue yang running around. Cultivation development, demonic cultivation development. Fairy/nature spirit elements Diverging au. Fae vs Yao. Shape-shifting. Mystery. Nie huaisang is a badass cryptid and his fan is a spiritual weapon. This rec maaaaay contain vague spoilers. Exploring old stories referenced in the canon world. Fun subtle references To Mdzs & other Works. [Wow, this is going to be epic, isn't it?]
A Mother's Love
by FirefliesNLightningBugs (M, 152k, wangxian, WIP)
Summary: The Cultivation World is Old. Filled with legends and stories about terrible Monsters and perpetrators of great feats. Some of which are lost to time even as new ones are written and rewritten, unceasing as the flow of the changing tides. With tales of the infamous Yiling Laozu being but a recent addition. Three years after the Sunshot Campaign life has moved on. Wei Wuxian is still the Jiang First Disciple, and feels as ineffective as ever. Still haunted by the dead, his own secrets, and his failing relationships; still cursed for the red eyes he sometimes wears. An unplanned occurrence shakes him from the stupor that his life has become. But the dangerous thing about wakeful eyes is that they sometimes land on things that they weren't looking for.

not only it is it essential for me for my own emotional well-being to headcanon that wei wuxian and jiang cheng work out their shit post-canon, i have convinced myself that it makes sense thematically in the following ways:
- jin ling is at the center of any reconciliation effort in my mind, because there’s just such obvious symbolism there in his being yanli’s son, but also because jin ling’s own little arc is clearly (to me, anyway) that he is a gentle person who has been bullied by both his family and his sect into being outwardly harsh and defensive, but at bottom his instincts are kind: he’s protective of jiang cheng (but expresses it badly), he knows he’s been taught he needs to seek revenge and hate the people who have wronged him, but in the end he can’t (but doesn’t yet see that that’s a good thing). so give jiang cheng and wwx a dose of that “but what if it’s NOT inevitable to hold grudges” energy to kick things off and see what happens!!!
- because that’s the thing, right? they have been raised in a culture without forgiveness, basically. but the whole THING is that wwx has gotten a miraculous second chance at everything, and obviously jiang cheng on some level would resent that for a while (why does he always get EVERYTHING) but what if the promise of the juniors, this generation of peace that knows how to reconcile and forgive, actually gets to trickle upwards a little bit? just a little???? these guys are only 35 and they are cultivators they have a lot of their lives left you know????
- as that really good post i reblogged the other day said, at the end of canon, wwx feels like his debt is finally discharged. the obvious argument for this being the end of their relationship is that jiang cheng feels the same way: he has always resented wwx, and now that he’s burdened with a debt he can’t repay, he’ll just avoid him forever. i feel like this is proooobably an accurate reading of novel!jc in particular hoWEVER, my thematic argument IS: part of what wwx is learning is that he has been and can be cared for, that people make sacrifices for him because they love him, that in his second shot at life he doesn’t always have to stand alone. and i think an eventual reconciliation with jiang cheng fits really well into that. it was never about debt, stupid!! he is your brother!!
- which connects to the fact that jiang cheng knows he lost his core saving wwx, and chooses not to tell him. he has the ability to try and even the scores again, to rebalance the debt - “whatever, your core was just repayment for the fact that i saved you, so we’re actually even!”- and he doesn’t take it. jiang cheng cannot bear to lose to people. he cannot stand to seem lesser, he cannot leave any wound un-poked or argument unspoken. jiang cheng has a chance to argue that he is just as self-sacrificing and heroic as wei wuxian, and he does not take it. i guess you can read this as him finally realizing that his relationship with wwx is over and it’s not worth it, but it is such a departure from a fundamental and frequently-highlighted element of his character, it just feels too weird to me to be like “yes, he makes a huge and character-shifting decision but actually the relationship it relates to doesn’t change at all as a result”
- do i think on some level there is something so beautiful and painful about the ‘you can never go back home’ feeling of their relationship being permanently estranged? i mean yES BUT
#it comes back to jin ling in the end#if i thought they could go without ever seeing each other again then yeah sure#but they have this living connection who is so important to both of them#i think they'll just end up back in one another's orbits#yunmeng bros

9,000 Post Tag Round Up!
I’m a few days late on putting this post up, but I did get all the stats ready a few days ago so it could be worse. I’ve had less time to put into this blog the last month or so, and I’m really sorry about that - I’ll keep trying to keep at least some content flowing, promise!
Other stuff...
Our current follower count is 819, which is up exactly 100 from the last time...which was itself up exactly 100 from the time before, what were the chances?!
As always, I’m expanding tagging and adding tags as needed to help people find the art they might want to see from the collection. If you have a trigger or squick that I am not currently tagging, and you’d like me to tag it, please let me know - anon asks are fine - what you’d like tag, and if you have a preferred tag that you already blacklist. As always, you can see everything this blog tags by referring to the pinned post.
As always if you know where any of the works tagged unknown location are, please let me know. Likewise, if you know any of the artists tagged unknown artist (it’s pretty much all official art), I’d appreciate your help a lot!
If you make fanart, feel free to @ me (@ unforth - Tumblr isn’t giving me any notifications on @ for this blog) or DM me (unforth or mdzsartreblogs are both fine) so I can add your new work to the queue!
Thanks for the follows, everyone, and as always make sure you’re reblogging art from creators whose work you enjoy - they deserve the support!
-unforth
(and, my favorite part - tag stat update!)
Characters Tagged Most Often: once again there were no new characters added between 8k and 9k. We’ve got nearly every character who was named in canon, with the exception of Mo Xuanyu’s family, so it’s not really a surprise that we’re not getting more...
Wei Wuxian (4526 works) (no change from the 8k post)
Lan Wangji (3607 works) (no change)
Jiang Cheng (1294 works) (no change)
Lan Xichen (749 works) (+2 from 8k post)
Nie Huaisang (711 works) (-1 from 8k post)

Xue Yang (315 works) (no change)
Lan Jingyi (290 works) (no change)
Wen Qing (274 works) (no change)
Ships Tagged Most Often: there was a spate of more crack ships in the last 1000, which means we added some rare pairs! This is a thrill to me, I’m a multishipper and I love seeing the variety. New additions include Wangsang (LWJ/NHS), Xianxuan (WWX/JZX), Wen Ruohan/Lan Qiren, and others!
Wangxian (2773 works) (no change)
Songxiao (260 works) (no change)

Xisang (53 works) (-2 from 8k post)
Yanqing (52 works) (no change)
Platonic Relationships Tagged Most Often: not many new tags here, just rarely mentioned familial ones. And not much movement in the top 15 either...(the reason this one is 15, by the way, whereas the previous is 10, is that I expand the number of slots if there’s no movement for a while...the ships list keeps changing, so it doesn’t get expanded!)
Twin Prides of Yunmeng (285 works) (no change)
Wangxian are Dads (148 works) (no change)
Yunmeng Siblings (140 works) (+1 from 8k post)
Grape Uncle (135 works) (-1 from 8k post)

Wen Siblings (56 works) (no change)
One Brain Cell Trio (52 works) (no change)
Junior Quartet (50 works) (no change)
Wei Wuxian is an Uncle (50 works) (no change)
Artists Tagged Most Often: At the 8k check in, there were 2,235 artists with at least one work reblogged here. Now there are 2,406 artists. That’s an increase of 171 artists, which is a little less than last time, but still means nearly 1 in 5 works posted over the last 1k were by artists who had previously had 0 works on MDZS Art Reblogs. I continue to be in awe of the massive amount of effort and skill in this fandom. Please remember the below list is not a ranking, it’s simply which artists are most prolific and which I’ve encountered most frequently, thus leading me to reblog the most from them.
Official Art (by various artists) (128 works) (no change)
ibijau (83 works) (no change)
hilluhri (formerly known as honeyiling) (80 works) (+2 from 8k post)

pt 1 Divorve AU! tbh, I don't like the idea of WangXian separated but hey, angst is singing in my blood so, why not? Anyway, what if WWX actually handles the divorce just fine? Well, sure he is disheartened with the fact that the man he loves so easily falls out of love with him when he realizes he is not the man LWJ hopes himself to be but, he expects the divorce to happen for so long. His heart stings with betrayal and disappointment but, it's okay. He's used to it so, he'll be fine.
pt 2 Divorce AU! The moment JC hears about the divorce, he wasted no time as in to swoop in his brother back to YunmengJiang Sect, the sect where he supposed to be, not the GusuLan Sect. Now that there's no LWJ in his way, he can finally has his brother back. WWX says nothing when JC forces him back to LP because frankly, he has no where to go now. Of course, he expects JC to still hate him hence, probably brings him back to torture him back. But, JC has be nothing but courteous to him. pt 3 Divorce AU! Slowly, WWX lets his guard down and slowly enjoys his life at LP, after the long time he spent dreaming to be back to what once his home. JC said nothing but he's happy that his brother is back to where he belongs to. The YJ disicples don't understand at first why their sect leader brings back YP but, as he spent time with the man himself, then he understands why the Lan juniors and others, including JL that has once hated YP adores him. Slowly, WWX takes their heart with him- pt 4 Divorce AU! and they also began to adore him as those juniors did. The Lan juniors, hearing that WWX has settled down at LP start to flock there every time they can, just to hang out with WWX. JL also tries to divide his time as a sect leader so he can visit LP, not only to visit JC but also WWX (despite him not wanting to admit it). Slowly but surely, WWX's heart starts to feel full again, content with the love he has. He misses LWJ but, with the people around him, it hard to remember him pt 5 Divorce AU! i actually wants to end it at pt 4 but then, my brain betrays me so, angst time. LWJ, hearing that WWX HAPPILY settles down at LP is agitated by it. True, he has fallen out of love by the man he once swore to protect and love but, he has expected the man to plead to stay at CR and with him, not go to his merry way to LP and be happy WITHOUT HIM. He may has fallen out of love and divorce him but, WWX is HIS. The Lan elders continue to parade high born ladies to him- pt 6 Divorce AU! in hope that he will marry one of them. But, he doesn't even bat an eyelash at him and coldly disregard them coldly, leaving them in tears. They don't give up though as they still do it despite the LWJ's rejection. LXC exits his seclusion when he hears about the divorce and he can't help but to feel sad and disappointed at his brother. LWJ has been in love with WWX for years and when he gets him, he lets him go just like that, never fights for the other. pt 7 Divorce AU! Now, when WWX has finally finds happiness outside of CR, away from LWJ, LWJ becomes his cold self once again, perhaps worse than before. LXC doesn't know how to disregard the sudden change except giving LWJ an advice. "You let him go first, shouldn't you be content that he's happy without you?" LWJ only sends a cool look at his brother, not saying a word as he left. LXC ignores the look on LWJ's face (he really shouldn't). pt 8 Divorce AU! Meanwhile, LQR thinks he should be happy that LWJ divorces WWX and that troublemaker is finally gone from CR. But, he never admits that he has grown attached to the lil gremlin that when the news of divorce finds him, he is both shocked and angry at LWJ's decision. He refuses to see WWX off from CR because, he knows that if he did, he will most likely plead the other to stay. He might be a rule breaker but he also has broken into LQR's heart, and he refuses to admit it. pt 9 Divorce AU! He's happy though when he hears from the juniors that WWX is happy at LP. LQR thought, WWX deserves it at least, after his nephew broke his heart so carelessly, despite his oath and all. However, he is unsettled when he observes LWJ. Not only has LWJ return back to his icy cold self, it has only worsen after WWX left CR. He has rejected every marriage offer he is offered, every woman that has been introduced to him, he even refused to let any belonging WWX left to be taken away pt 10 Divorce AU! Frighteningly, it reminds LQR of his brother. Of how his brother obsession has destroyed their family, how the obsession lead QHJ to abandon his sons and sect as he went into seclusion. How the obsession destroys himself. LQR refuses to wonder about that possibility, that LWJ inherits QHJ's obsession, but, he knows, deep inside, he shouldn't ignore it. (Oh how he wishes he didn't.) pt 11 Divorce AU! LWJ hears of the juniors talking among themselves, how WWX seems happier after the divorce. How he seems so free, how elated he is and the many adventures they has with WWX. LWJ can't help but get angry at that (no one other than LXC and LQR know but, they aren't there to witness it). In a haste decision, when the opportunity go to LP arise, LWJ didn't waste it. He follows the convoy for the discussion conference held at the LP pt 12 Divorce AU! When he arrives at LP, the first thing he hears is WWX's laughter. It still brings flutter to his stomach as he turns to look at WWX. He is there, far but near enough for him to look at. WWX is sitting, surrounded by the senior disciples, talking who know what and one of them is sitting way too close to WWX, the other oblivious with it. (stay away from him! He's mine, MINE!) he grips on BiChen, eyes glaring at the sight. LXC looks at him in concern ("Are you fine WangJi?" "Mn") pt 13 Divorce AU! Days passed, and LWJ sticks by LXC's side. LXC thought that if LWJ truly has let the other go, he won't be worry much because, thinking otherwise is terrifying enough. Sure, he is saddened by the divorce but, if LWJ no longer clings to the feeling, he feels a lil assure by it. (He loves WWX, he was his brother-in-law once but, LWJ's obsession is horrifying) He just hopes that LWJ really won't do anything this time. pt 14 Divorce AU! LWJ gazes always linger on WWX. Each time he saw him, his eyes can't help but to stray towards WWX. He is sure he has fallen out of love, but why did his heart still wants WWX? (Obsession, the voice in his mind said. You're obsessed with him. You never love him, you're obsessed with him. they said again) Each time he saw WWX, he always has his arm around another's arm, the junior, the senior, even a servant. Everyone seem to taste WWX's touch, all except him. pt 15 Divorce AU! WWX avoid LWJ. true he has moved on but his heart stung in betrayal whenever he saw him. He feels it each time LWJ's eyes fall on him, every time he tries to talk to him but, WWX's heart isn't strong enough to face him yet. so, he avoids him. (he should've know it's a wrong move) LWJ corners him one day, it's night, dark and barely anyone is out. LWJ pins him on the wall, kiss him as he used to, and still, it weakens WWX's legs that he wobble under it. "HanGuang-Jun, stop," pt 16 Divorce AU! "Why?" "We're divorced. I'm not yours to kiss anymore, so stop" He can see the redness in LWJ's eyes. He would think he's sad by it if he hasn't seen it before. "You're MINE" "You let me go, I'm no longer yours" "Doesn't matter. You'll always be mine, Wei Ying" WWX tries to push him away but, he is weak. Always so weak against LWJ. "Let me go, HanGuang-Jun" he said. LWJ seems to want to say something before he stops. Then he smiles. the smile sends shiver down his spine pt 16 Divorce AU! LWJ caressed his cheek before letting him go. "You're mine, Wei Ying," he says before he leaves. WWX fears that moment (it's weird, he never has a reason to fear LWJ) before he went to JC's room. He asks him for a leave, wanting to go away for a while. JC says nothing, knowing that LWJ is here. He assumes that WWX doesn't want to see LWJ, so he let him go. (he wish he hasn't) WWX left the very next day. LWJ smiles when he knows it. ("You seem please WangJi,""Mn") pt 17 Divorce AU! A few days has passed since the discussion conference, and two weeks since WWX's departure. JC thought nothing at first because sometimes, WWX has a habit of leaving for a long time. A month passed, and still, no news from WWX yet. Two, and JC is worries out of his mind. He already told his people to find WWX, those who fond WWX the most eager to find him. Yet, there's no sight of WWX. In fact, there's no sight of him for weeks. QingHe, Lanling, Yunmeng, GUSU, no where. pt 18 Divorce AU! LWJ has told LXC he will go into seclusion. LXC thought nothing of it, only consent to it thinking that LWJ truly is moving on. (away from his obsession, away from WWX) He was wrong. (he should've asked why, he should've demand to visit him) LQR says nothing as he too consent LWJ's decision. (he should've know. he should've. Like father, like son. He should've check) LWJ is please by it. (No one suspect when he asked for two servings each time, always served with chili oil) pt 19 Divorce AU! in the jingshi, WWX lays on the bed as he stares at LWJ. He remembers nothing, except what LWJ told him. LWJ said he found him in the forest, barely survive an attack. LWJ told him to never exits the room, saying outside is cruel. He believes him (he doesn't know why). LWJ is too happy to be concerned with anything else because wwx is here, he's his to have, his to take. (so obsession. lwj is obsessed with wwx that he kidnaps him back after the divorce. i should just reblog 🤦)

@4amkatara re: this thread (it’s getting long to reblog):
ohh yes!! i agree so much w what you said abt prioritising the collective. i think him putting others’ needs before his own is partly based in trauma, but i also think there’s a difference between that happening in personal/esp. familial relationships, and him putting the collective over his personal needs as a leader. the first may feed into the second, but i don’t think prioritising the collective is necessarily bad or unhealthy. imo it’s the duty of a leader to do that!
Yeah, exactly. I think his relationship with LWJ is definitely the most, mmm... draining for him in that sense, because so much of that is him looking after LWJ’s emotional needs, including when they’re both still children (the LWJ-kneeling-in-the-snow scene definitely gives me the vibe of LXC having to put aside his own grief because LWJ is being a bit more... disruptive, about how he’s expressing that). So I think he’s definitely got some unhealthy inclinations when it comes to expressing needs of his own. But yeah, I just don’t think that acknowledging those needs in a healthier way is necessarily diametrically opposed with continuing to serve others in a more institutional way (as opposed to interpersonal). And i think taking up his duties again after being in seclusion would probably be good for him.
and even if prioritising the collective was unhealthy, i don’t think pulling a 180 and just saying fuck the collective is the way to deal w that. lwj does jump from extremes like that but i don’t think his repression and obedience -> extreme devotion and putting love over all else is really. good or healthy or even romantic? i can see the appeal but it’s just not really for me
OH MOOD. I get the appeal of LWJ’s single-minded undying love of WWX as a trope, but I personally get a bit uncomfortable when people emphasize that aspect of their relationship, because I think that LWJ’s “my boyfriend, right or wrong” attitude is in many ways just as maladaptive as his teenage rigidity about The Rules. (And I think a lot of that is based in his trauma around WWX dying, too.) I think that’s part of why I prefer LWJ staying with the Lan and finding a way to make the sect rules work for him without completely uncritically adhering to them, to LWJ just leaving his sect so he can spend his days wandering around with WWX. Because his upbringing and his values are important to him, and I don’t want him to just chuck those out the window for the sake of love. (Especially because part of what I like about wangxian is that they have very different lifestyles and approaches to things like values, and so much of their relationship - I want to say especially in CQL? - is about compromise and actively coming to an understanding of each other. And I prefer that aspect of them to “abandoning the rest of the world because all we need is each other.” And he’s also got the juniors! Whom he cares about and who are a good place to funnel his energy that is not WWX.
(This is also related to why I really want LWJ to make some other friends post-canon.)
and oh!! not to write for ages lol but yeah he’s not like his mom in that sense! i was thinking more of what he saw of his mom, which we at least see in cql as her smiling and pretending everything’s fine even in a situation that, though lxc didn’t know the details of, could probably sense was not. ideal
which is partly why the thing w deprioritising himself is imo linked to his childhood with his personal relationships. the idea that that’s how he should act as a parental figure, esp. after madam lan is gone and lwj is still kneeling at her door waiting for her to come back, influences his relationship w lwj a lot imo where he tries to kinda imitate it w lwj (though the deprioritisation/always putting on a smile/etc is partly is just who lxc is and how he deals with the pressures placed on him)
Ohhh, yeah, that makes sense! And what’s so telling to me is the way he seems to present her not making a fuss as a positive thing to WWX - and while I’m sure he’s still aware of the tragedy behind it, and how she was kind of forced to behave that way by her situation, it still seems to have influenced a lot of his notions of virtue and good behaviour.
(And I feel like LWJ took the exact opposite lesson from it, given that he would not fake a smile for diplomacy if you paid him. Part of that is just how his face is, but he also has zero interest in placating people he does not care for or respect.)

☾ ★ and ☮ for jiang cheng and/or tim stoker, if you’re still doing that ask meme!
I am indeed still doing that ask meme (general rule regarding me & ask memes is like... i sure do reblog tons of stuff in the meantime but i am willing to respond to meme asks up to a week after i reblogged it, i guess)
hell yeah let’s do it for both of my boys (tim will get his own post later in the evening tho, i will @ you)
Jiang Cheng (birthday boy i’m sorry i have to do this to you)
☾ sleeping headcanon: regarding sleeping position, i think he doesn’t wriggle much and usually wakes up in a position similar to the one he went to sleep in - on his side, one hand curled under the pillow, zidian on his finger if we are talking book canon or under the pillow if we are talking cql canon. he gets especially wary not to toss around in bed if he is sleeping with someone, be it a romantic partner or anyone else (when a-ling was little he used to sleep with him sometimes and the first few night jiang cheng was borderline paranoid about the possibility of accidentally crushing him or sth). he doesn’t have vivid nightmares, or at least he never remembers them (a small blessing), though he does tend to wake up in the middle of the night, sometimes with tears in his eyes. he doesn’t fall asleep again on nights like this, but he knows very well he’s going to have a terrible headache if he doesn’t get more rest, so he at least attempts meditation.
★ sad headcanon: oof, both i myself and the fandom have so many good sad hcs about him. uhh. i am always thinking about his scars from the discipline whip, you know, and how the novel mentions he tried to get rid of them. i know some people hc him as being extremely uncomfortable swimming bare-chested because of the scars and no longer going swimming when there are people around, but tbh i believe he “got over it” (at least in the context of swimming) pretty quickly - as soon as lotus pier was retaken in the sunshot campaign, someone had to dive and fish out all the jiang disciples’ bodies from the lake, and i definitely see him as participating in this process.
☮ friendship headcanon: and hooooboy, does he need a friend. someone in the sect to keep an eye on him, to stop him when he’s spiralling and being overtaken by his emotions, but also someone to validate some of his anger outbursts - because there are many things he gets rightly mad about, but since he knows himself and knows he is prone to anger and perceived as slightly unstable at times by outsiders he is going to start subconsciously banalizing his own feelings and telling himself (after calming down) that he has overreacted. so more than any of the main characters being his friends i think he needs someone who is going to be there for him like wei wuxian failed to - think yu zhenhong from @stiltonbasket‘s twelve moons verse or mianmian in courage was my companion by @quicktothebatjalopy.
aside from this i am always a sucker for yunmeng shuangjie reconcilliation, so of course wei wuxian. i also desperately need some sort of jc-wen ning reconcilliation to happen, though i think jiang cheng will not be willing to take any steps in this direction until jin ling makes his decision on whether he is okay with wen ning being around and wen ning will not be willing to take any steps in this direction until after wwx & jc have a serious honest talk about golden cores. (also until after jc realises who sizhui is). in general i think the juniors is what brings them together, scenarios ranging from “they both tail the juniors on a night hunt to make sure jl/lsz is safe” to “jin ling gives them both a lecture on behaving like adults”
i am trying to stay canon-compliant here so i will not talk about what totally should have happened during the 13/16 years after wei wuxian’s death, but i do think that jc and lan wangji could and should be friends. go bond over being competent people in charge of powerful sects who care about wei wuxian, you idiots.

45. the grass scene is wonderful 2 me for two reasons: one, WWX PLAYING A BLADE OF GRASS. i just watched a yt vid in which a dude does make it actually play, which is amazing, but my experience consists mostly of emitting one PTWEEEEET and making everyone almost jump out of their skins. good times! two, the contrast between this scene and the one in ep2... cql: wuji.mp3, slowmo, passionate gazes, wtg: wwx torturing a blade of grass, STILL making lwj (wayward) come to him. true love!!! truly true love!!!

Because I am a fool and I love Lan WangJi with all my heart. This is all in LWJ’s POV. Even though I’m a WWX blog I’m posting about his family ok.
Objectives: 1. LWJ needs more love 2. I love family feels 3. Since Wen Yuan is introduced in the Eng translations lately, I felt like it’s appropriate to post this 4. Slight novel spoilers altho I feel like all of u might already know 5. Might add a bit and then publish it to AO3 maybe P.S: Personal blogs please DO NOT REBLOG this post. Comments, however, are welcomed.
Lan WangJi took thirty-three strokes of whip marks to his back.
When the whips were carried out, all he could think of is that it also took thirty-three strokes to write his name. To write three letters: Wei Wu Xian.
Lan WangJi never uttered a single word, never even released a pained groan as the Gusu Lan Sect’s whip bit into his flesh. A loud whack resounding in the air repeatedly. Again and Again. Lan XiChen caught him biting down on his lip as sweat gathered above his brows, yet his expression remained passive, natural, as they always had.
He knelt in front of the altar for three long hours. And next, three years on bed awaited him.
Lan WangJi had fallen into a coma.
When he woke up, everything felt like a bad dream.
Lan XiChen was the first one to greet him. Lan WangJi sat up, his eyes drifting down to the thing in his elder brother’s hand. Lan XiChen had brought him a walking stick.
“You will find it easier to move around with this.”
Lan WangJi nodded, “Thank you, brother.”
It was difficult sitting up. Lan WangJi had never felt so clumsy before in his life until Lan XiChen grips his arm, helping him sit up and guides the stick onto his hand. For a long while, Lan WangJi didn’t speak. He only watched the concerned expression forming on his brother’s face.
“How long?”
“One week. Seven days.” Lan XiChen answers casually as if he’d expected WangJi to ask such questions. “Does it still hurt?”
“...A bit. It will heal in time. Brother need not worry.”
Lan XiChen’s look of concern never left his face. He added quietly, “Uncle is angry.”
Lan WangJi froze visibly, but only barely. His grip around the handle of the walking stick tightens as he answered with a determined gaze. “I know. I will explain it to him. However, my answer will be the same.”
“Why?” Lan Xichen let out a long sigh. His brother was impossibly stubborn, just like his uncle. After a moment of thought, he finally offered, “No need to see him. I will talk to him. He might listen if I beg.”
Lan WangJi thanked his brother the second time that day in their short confrontation.
After he managed to figure out how to walk with a stick, the first thing he did after he steps out of the Jingshi was to visit his rabbits. Over the years, they multiplied. Or rather, at first there were just two, then one day, another pair of white and black rabbit appeared. The two he originally had apparently found their mates.
Then from there, more and more rabbits began to appear.
They greeted him whenever he visited the garden at the black of the Cloud Recesses, piling up excitedly to greet him. Lan WangJi didn’t like to speak, and the rabbits couldn’t speak, preferring to show their excitement through their actions. Round, fluffy things gathered around him as he limped his way into the valley, leaving a small space between themselves and his walking stick, deciding the strange new object wasn’t something they should touch or topple over.
Lan WangJi found a tree and knelt beside it. His back still ached from those thirty-three whip marks.
When he sat down, his lap was immediately filled with rabbits. Of course, they missed him. He’d been in a coma for almost an entire week. Lan XiChen must have fed them for him.
“...”
Bright, golden hues stared down, and it seemed as though the rabbits had gotten used to his stoic, cold, facade somewhat and didn’t feel the same sense of intimidation others would have felt. Perhaps they couldn’t tell. Perhaps they trusted Lan WangJi’s touches that were soft and gentle in contrast to his face.
Lan WangJi patted them with a single hand, while his other hand held on to his stick.
“Lan Huan! Look after your brother!”
It was the voice of an elder of the Lan Sect. Hundreds of disciples were rushing out to gather at the bottom of the Cloud Recesses, apparently, they were ready to take down the Yiling Patriarch as a means to an end. Lan WangJi had woken up in the middle of the night with a blank expression, proof of being uninformed. But Lan XiChen’s own face contradicts his own. His brother knew.
“Elder brother, what is happening?”
“They’re doing what they should. We were given orders to stay out of it.”
Doing what they should? Doing what? The door was locked, XiChen standing next to it as if he was guarding it. Even a fool could tell something wasn’t right. Immediately, Lan WangJi reaching to the corner of his bed where he had kept his walking stick only to find it gone.
Immediately, he pulled himself to the window of the Jingshi, looking down below. Hundreds of angry cultivators and villagers were gathered at the bottom of the Cloud Recesses, angry expressions written all over their faces. Some holding pitch forks, lanterns, and torches; but the most eye-catching one of them all were the ones holding up wooden signs with red paint written in large, bold letters: ‘Kill the Yiling Patriarch’.
“...No.” Lan WangJi has always been composed, calm, but in this instance, he’d let out a word he hadn’t intended to.
Without his walking stick, he continued to drag himself stubbornly to the exit of his room. Lan XiChen immediately stood between the door and himself.
“Leave!”
Lan XiChen’s eyebrows narrowed. “I am sorry, WangJi.”
What does he mean by that?
He’s finally desperate. “Leave,” he repeated, attempting to shove Lan XiChen away, but his hand was caught by the elder of the two Jades.
“Master Wei should have expected this coming. There is nothing we can do. His errors have transcended his reputation, WangJi. Protecting him would mean going against the entire cultivation world!”
“I cannot care so much.” Lan WangJi shook off his grip, “Those people don’t know what they are doing!”
“Your body is injured to this extent; what can you do, and where can you go? Going alone would only mean killing yourself!”
As much as he hated to admit it, his elder brother does have a point. Lan WangJi reminded himself to calm down, to stop panicking, giving it some thought. “Look for Sect Leader Jiang.”
“Jiang Cheng? Jiang WanYin?”
Lan WangJi nodded. Jiang Cheng was previously the younger brother of Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi knew they shared an intimidate bond. Surely, he will hear him out and discuss matters with him? Surely, they could conspire a plan to rescue Wei WuXian from the fate that awaits him downstairs?
However, what had been a faint candle of hope were instantly blew out the moment he saw the look on Lan XiChen’s face.
“There is something you don’t know, WangJi.” Lan XiChen’s face looked pitiful. As if the moment he feared the most has finally arrived. “The raid to annihilate the Yiling Patriarch…” he said, “...is led by Sect Leader Jiang.”
Everything was over in a day.
The Yiling Patriarch is dead.
Lan WangJi hasn’t slept since, and already, dark circles were forming under his eyes. It’s been three days since he was locked in his room, and finally, on the third day, a junior disciple was ordered to unlock his doors.
When the junior disciple walked into the Jingshi to serve their HanGuang-Jun his meal, he was greeted by three trays of cold food that were previously brought to his room before this.
But Lan WangJi was nowhere to be found.
With a broken branch as his temporary walking stick, Lan WangJi limped his walk from Gusu to Yiling and finally up the Burial Mounds. The stench there was unbearable to any ordinary human being. If given the chance, no one in their right minds would willingly settle down in such a place. Unless they had no choice, with nowhere else to go.
For two days he wandered the mountains with only his new walking stick to defend him. Bichen hung by the side of his waist. But due to his injury, he couldn’t use too much spiritual energy at the moment, so the need to unsheathe Bichen was kept at a minimum.
Finally, three days have passed. He found nothing. Except for broken items and houses Wei WuXian had kept, not a single corpse or sign of life was present. It was as if all traces of the Yiling Patriarch had vanished into thin air.
Batted, dirty, and tired, Lan WangJi managed to drag himself to a stump of a tree and sat on it, inhaling aggressively to regain all the oxygen he has lost while travelling here. His breath is the only sound that could be heard in the Burial Mounds.
It was Winter that year. Snowflakes had begun to fall, along with ashes from the fires and smokes of the siege that had taken place several days before. Mixing into one, black and white particles fell from the sky.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of a child sniffing.
Lan WangJi immediately stood up. There is zero chance that it could be Wei WuXian. Lan WangJi recognized his voice anywhere, but this one also sounded familiar. Grabbing his stick, he quickly limped across the thin layer snow, following the source of the sound.
It led him to an old oak tree. In the heart of the tree, there is a hollow.
A child is wrapped up in a thin layer of cloth. The cloth was something familiar to Lan WangJi’s eyes. Only months ago, Wei WuXian was wearing it when they were having a meal together.
“A…..A-Yuan….wants…. A-Yuan wants Granny.”
A-Yuan…? Wen Yuan…?
“B-Brother Xian…. Brother Xian where are you?”
“Why haven’t... Brother Xian come back? A-Yuan…. hungry and cold.”
Almost instinctively, Lan WangJi took him into his arms, wrapping his own cloak around him. He immediately felt around his head, unsurprised to find that A-Yuan is having a fever. Like any child, especially since he was left in the cold and alone for many days, A-Yuan’s tiny arms clutched his robes as if he was afraid whoever the person has come to pick him up would leave him.
Wen Yuan barely managed to open his eyes, “Brother Xian…?”
“Mn.”
He nuzzled into Lan WangJi’s chest, burying his face in his chest. Within a few seconds, Lan WangJi felt the child’s grip on his robe loosens. Probably, Wen Yuan had either fallen asleep or passed out.
“We go home.”
Wen Yuan was still wrapped in his own cloak when Lan WangJi was carrying him, his tiny head lying on its side on Lan WangJi’s shoulder. The younger of the Two Jade of Gusu Lan was kneeling before the gate of the Cloud Recesses. Lan WangJi’s expression remained neutral, unfeeling, expressionless. However, his grip on Wen Yuan was tight and almost defensive. Several disciples had offered to take Wen Yuan the moment Lan WangJi returned to the Cloud Recesses, but he refused. The wounds of his back had split open once more after limping for hours without the aid of a walking stick and carrying a child.
Lan QiRen had been so angry that he only spared him a glance before turning away and returned to his room.
The last time Lan WangJi saw of him was Lan XiChen following after his uncle. And it had been twelve hours since.
The snow had gotten heavier. His hands were growing cold. But Lan WangJi held on to Wen Yuan, refusing to let anyone touch him.
“...”
The shadow of an umbrella overshadows his figure. Lan WangJi looks up at that and saw a junior disciple holding an umbrella, his eyes pitifully looking down at him with a mixture of confusion and sympathy.
“Go in if you don’t want Master Lan to discipline you.”
The junior disciple shook his head. He looked only about four or five.
“...” Lan WangJi didn’t know what to say, “...what is your name?”
“Lan JingYi.”
Lan WangJi says slowly, “Go in.”
Lan JingYi shook his head. Then, staring at Wen Yuan, Lan JingYi felt his head as well before he immediately withdrew his hand as if Wen Yuan’s forehead had burned him. “Is he sick?!”
Lan WangJi nodded. “Fever.”
Lan JingYi steps back a few paces before he ran into the Cloud Recesses, dropping the umbrella as he did.
Lan WangJi picks it up and holds it above Wen Yuan.
An hour later, the gate of the Cloud Recesses opens again. This time, Lan XiChen stepped out, bidding him to come in with a hand and a solemn expression although his usual smile is still there. Lan WangJi stood, shivered a little when his legs tried to adjust to a standing position after kneeling for so long. He looks around. Lan QiRen and Lan JingYi were nowhere to be seen.
Once he got in, Wen Yuan was immediately put to bed and nursed by the medics of the Gusu Lan Sect.
Two days later, Wen Yuan woke up.
“Who… are you?” the child had asked. “Who… am I? Brother Xian said no talking to strangers…”
Lan WangJi had been the only one by his bed when Wen Yuan woke up. He blinks in slight surprise. “...”
Had Wen Yuan lost his memories?
“Am I… not familiar to you?” he asked.
Wen Yuan stares at him with his large, round, toddler eyes and shook his head. “We… met?”
Lan WangJi nodded. “Once.”
“If you want to keep him, then he is your responsibility.”
Lan WangJi was sitting under the same tree behind the Cloud Recesses where his rabbits roamed. A wooden table was set before him, a brush and paper spread across the surface of the table. Whenever it was peaceful times like these, Lan WangJi spent his time writing poems about the scenery or practised his calligraphy.
It was as if the rabbits knew when to pester him and when to not. Such as now, they didn’t gather all around him like they usually would.
A moment later, Wen Yuan wandered into the same garden Lan WangJi was in. Rubbing his face, he apparently seems to have just woke up and decided to take a stroll in the garden.
Seeing Lan WangJi, he wanders up the small slump of hill and sat beside him, watching at whatever he was doing with keen interest.
Lan WangJi stared back at him, an eyebrow raised.
Wen Yuan appeared to be troubled, somewhat. After a while, he begins. “HanGuang-Jun, do you think Master Lan, Lan QiRen, hates me?”
Now, Lan WangJi understood but instead, he asked, “Why?”
“Um…” Wen Yuan never thought he needed to explain in such detail, “He doesn’t look at me. During class, he never asked me questions or spoke to me. Have I done something wrong?”
Lan WangJi turned back to his paper and brush. “He does not hate you.”
“Then why he treats me like this?”
“...” Lan WangJi didn’t know how to explain that Lan QiRen hated him and not Wen Yuan. So he picked up his brush and waited for a moment before saying, “Would you… like to write your name?”
Hearing this interesting topic, Wen Yuan immediately dropped their previous topic. “Yes!”
So Lan WangJi settled down to work, drawing his brush over the paper. He never did ask Wei WuXian what the character of Wen Yuan’s ‘Yuan’ is, so Lan WangJi used another character that also pronounced as ‘Yuan’, but with a different meaning.
He placed the brush back down when he was finished. On the paper, in large, calligraphic letters, were five letters.
Lan Yuan

wangji bringing wwx into the lan household like a raccoon he found behind the house and the rest of the lans love their new pet raccoon who hisses to show affection (it is not to show affection). wwx is now immune to causing trouble because there is always a lan three feet behind him and they just gently peel him away from situations where he can cause a ruckus. nobody can bully him because first they have to get past at least 2 lans. wwx is confused at first but he comes to love it. like that?
YES NOW YOURE GETTING IT!!!!!!!!! THATS THE GOOD SHIT!!

Twelve Moons and a Fortnight by stiltonbasket
Twelve Moons and a Fortnight
by stiltonbasket
G*, 290k, wangxian
Summary: "Let me get this straight. You really want me to stand in for you while you help Jin Ling settle in at Koi Tower?"
"Who else do I have?" Jiang Cheng returns. "Father trained you to serve as my deputy, didn't he? And don't say you don't remember, or I'll break your legs."
"Well, yes," Wei Wuxian manages. "Uh. I'll just let Lan Zhan know I'll be at Lotus Pier until you're back at home, then."
Or, the one where Wei Wuxian spends the year before his wedding as Yunmeng Jiang's acting sect leader, and the cultivation world's greatest love story finds its happy ending with the help of three juniors, a teenage romance, and one very involved (and exasperated) younger brother.
My comments: An epic fic covering the year that Wei Wuxian is resurrected (in his own body) but deviates from canon in that he's immediately taken to Lotus Pier by Jiang Cheng and reconciliation happens, followed by WWX leading the Jiang Sect while JC stays in Lanling with Jin Ling to fend off power grabs and political intrigue. Author populated the story with a lot of OCs, who help and nurture WWX during this time as he struggles with PTSD and depression (because for him, he was only just killed, and the war was only a few years past. But he's resilient, and his effervescence cannot always be suppressed. And he and LWJ exchange love letters (there are so many letters in this story) that are in-your-face love letters but WWX is oblivious out of self defense.
During the course of the year, there are social reforms, an accidental baby acquisition, a debilitating chronic illness, something dangerous in the swamps of Yunmeng, and a long, slow courtship.

*It has been pointed out that this story teeters in a crossover between G and T depending on how you react to the medical depiction of core surgery and bloody injuries depicted in Ch. 43. The chapter has its own warnings, but in case you want to know before getting invested in the story, now is the time to check them out!

Summary: The AU where the Wen Remnants continue on as Ghosts.
My comments: In which the Wen ghosts trail silently after their killers. Year after year. They neaten themselves up a bit for the children, though. No need to frighten them with gore.
We essentially follow post-resurrection canon except with a peanut-gallery of ghosts (which is occasionally hilarious, often extremely useful, and always a bit sad, because they're all so unfairly dead.)

Summary: Wei Wuxian is a good for nothing, possibly evil, possibly fake uncle. But he's Jin Ling's good for nothing, possibly evil, possibly fake uncle. So it stands to reason that when Jin Ling starts to suspect that Hanguang-jun is mistreating his husband, he immediately recruits Jiang Cheng for a rescue mission.
My comments: In which jin ling starts gathering evidence that wwx is being abused by lwj, presents it to jc, and the two of them try to hustle wwx away from this toxic environment and get him a divorce. Lwj, who is brusque and non-emotive at the best of times, and wwx being utterly oblivious and always inappropriately joking, do not help in changing their minds. Heh. (The thing we all know: lwj is not abusing his husband.)
Excerpt: “No noise,” Hanguang-jun repeats, and after a small pause, he adds, “If you make noise, you will be removed.”
Once again, Jiang Cheng is hit with a weird sense of déjà vu. They might as well be in Cloud Recesses now, ready to be punished by the Grandmaster because Lan Wangji caught them breaking the rules. Gods, and Wei Wuxian lives there now. How does he stand it?
“I’d like to see you try,” Jiang Cheng says sourly. Predictably, Hanguang-jun says nothing, because Wei Wuxian married the human equivalent of a bowl of congee.

E, 87k, wangxian
Summary: Wei Ying lets out a long, ugly groan. “I am fine, Lan Zhan. Everybody is overreacting, it’s so embarrassing for all of you.”
“You had undiagnosed pneumonia, which you walked around with for weeks until you passed out during dress,” Lan Wangji corrects him. “It got a big laugh, until everyone thought you were dead.”
He keeps his voice even and does not tell Wei Ying that it had been Lan Wangji who caught him, who called the ambulance, and who rode with him to the hospital, where he was yelled at by nurses who wanted to know why he hadn’t noticed that Wei Ying couldn’t stop shivering or string proper sentences together.
“Rumors of my demise have been vastly overstated,” Wei Ying says. “Anyway, I’m already feeling much better. Basically fine. Really almost completely back to normal, so stop babying me and tell me why the fuck you let your stupid brother hire the worst man in the world to host our show.”
-
OR: the one where they all work at SNL, Yanli's ex-boyfriend is hosting, and that's just the beginning of everybody's problems.
My comments: This was sooo funny, ohmygoodness, but also chock full of pining and withheld communication and stupidly sacrificial idiots. Author juggles an ensemble cast flawlessly, and everyone's personality shines in the rawest and most shamelessly hilarious way (I saw someone comment that they were all feral, which suits). Story is most often lwj POV (he and wwx are co-head writers) and this boy is SO IN LOVE, but doesn't want to damage what he's got, so he stays silent (mostly). Their relationship drama is subsumed in the utterly hectic week that leads up to a Saturday show (Sunday is off, Tuesdays have a hallucinatory never-ending feel, Fridays are actually much busier than Saturdays).
Excerpt 1: There is no “end” to Tuesdays. There is Tuesday, and then later Tuesday, and then midnight Tuesday, and then timeless Tuesday, when it stops being nighttime but isn’t yet morning, and then eventually the sun is up and it’s not Tuesday on the calendar but it’s still Tuesday spiritually, because no one has slept and everyone is all hopped up on caffeine and cigarettes.
Excerpt 2: Some funny bits:
“Laughter is the best medicine!” Wei Ying wheedles. “Come onnnnn, Lan Zhan, I’ve been rotting away for months and months, if someone doesn’t let me get a joke on TV in the next twenty minutes I’ll die. I’ll literally be forced to fling myself out of the Jiang family’s beautiful bay windows, and on the way down I’ll shout, ‘This was avoidable! This is because Lan Zhan wouldn’t let me punch up the promos!’ and then you’ll be fired for secondhand murder and it’ll be a tragedy like the sketch comedy circuit has never seen.”
Lan Wangji says, “Second-degree.”
“What?”
“Murder. Not secondhand.”
Wei Ying furrows his brow. “...I’ve heard it both ways,” he says. “That would make a good detective show spoof skit, though. Secondhand Murder.”
“Mn,” Lan Wangji agrees. “Murder She Wrote, but an idiot.”
“Keeps suggesting a series of increasingly implausible manners of death,” Wei Ying agrees, scribbling on the back of the takeout menu. Yanli and Lan Wangji share a look. “All the deaths are like — incredibly obvious and she goes buckwild with her theories anyway.”
“Police keep asking her to leave.”
“I want to be one of the victims,” Yanli says. “Put like, a sword right through my chest, but I’m still alive, telling the cops what happened, and she’s still like, ‘No no, that’s what the murderer wants you to think.’”
“Gruesome! Love it,” says Wei Ying, making a note.
Excerpt 3: some just plain esoteric turns of phrase:
Lan Zhan mutters, “Wei Ying,” in that voice of his. He says Wei Ying eight million times a day but never the same way twice. A mood ring of Wei Ying. Wei Wuxian wants to be fully dead about it, wholly and completely excused from this earth because of how Lan Zhan says his stupid name.
“Lan Zhan,” he sing-songs back. “Ah, Lan Zhaaaaan.”
Excerpt 4: Some gut-punches:
Wei Wuxian wants bruises; Lan Wangji wants scars.

ETA: There's a Sequel!
It's 19k of sheer delight as our boys go to the courthouse to get hitched... only to find out they've been married for the past 3.5 years. How. How did this happen? Wwx points out that they've never had anything but married sex which is very responsible and traditional of them. But still. How do you get accidentally married???
Excerpt: “How are you so chill about this,” Wei Wuxian demands, turning his face into Lan Zhan’s palm and kissing it at the center. “I feel like someone just informed me that everyone else on the planet except me has two dicks, and you’re just like, tralala, dry cleaning.”
“It’s easier for me,” says Lan Zhan, very tenderly. “I’ve always had two dicks.”
Wei Wuxian laughs, helplessly. “Lan Zhan.”
