Just for fun: maybe a show of how both Aemma Arryn and Alicent Hightower would affect the court fashion by being from the Vale and Reach, respectably?
Oooh that sounds fun let’s do it!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe in Burgundian dresses in the Vale supremacy. It just fits the vibe also fur!!! Very important no? Just overall a style that fits that elegant upper class vibe of the Eyrie before the dance, which Aemma grew up in. Big headdresses are the staple of every outfit, especially the hennin cone with a gauzy veil draped around. A very gentle, almost Virginia kind of fashion that Aemma grows up wearing and brings to Kings Landing when she becomes queen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a while in kings landing, this Eyrie fashion has adapted to the city. The basic cut of the gown is still the same, but seems to be a bit more complex and layered and sluttier. Ostentatious rich women take the idea of that elegant Eyrie fashion and just gild and glitz the shit out of it. OR a woman might downplay the gown and dress simply and just really heighten the look and size of the headdress, making it increasingly impractical (think the mid 1700s in France).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During Alicents early reign, she hasn’t garnered any influence or personal style yet and she’s still a young girl trying her best to get into the good graces of her old fart husband so she probably still resembles Aemma in her clothing. Modest and gentle without all of the grandiosity of the other women of kings landing, because of both the faith at Oldtown and her need to blend in as best she can. Eventually people start following in her footsteps, and more subdued and muted styles become popular, with a natural waist and bust coming back, as well as soft natural coloring
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Alicent is firmly established, I think she starts to dress for piousness. Long sleeves that don’t billow out, skirts that cover everything and more, natural outline of the body, modest headdresses. And once the war begins this naturally starts to take hold throughout the city, as noblewomen go into mourning and also start to realize the excess they used to have cannot be afforded anymore.

League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople!!!
League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople!!!
League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople!!!
Pls tell me everything 😎
Let‘s-a fucking gooooo!
I’ve already done a post explaining the basics but I’m going to go over it quickly, again: it’s the late 1800s and war is brewing in the horizon. A mysterious individual known only as Agent M sends his men around the world to recruit what he calls “extraordinary people”, human beings with particular abilities that he believes are the key to saving the world from the villains who, in the shadows, are planning to put an early World War into motion.
What this team doesn’t know is that M, aka Moriarty, has reunited them to take something from them- and to unlock the secrets of their abilities. Why, they’d make excellent weapons! Nemo’s technology could be used to create the ultimate war-machines! Mina’s dhampir powers are the key to harnessing hypnotism and regeneration! Jekyll’s serum could turn a regular man into a monster capable of anything!
I’ve stolen that plot from the movie because the movie fucks immensely.
The main changes with the comics/movie lore are:
-Mina and Jonathan are still very much an item (and they’re both dhampirs), albeit Jonathan is mostly offscreen and unseen.
-Allan is replaced by Irene Adler (I never really liked Allan much, plus I don’t know what his personality is beyond Sad Old Man). Irene is the Socialite of the team and she keeps them funded, connected, and insured (don’t you forget she’s outwitted Sherlock Holmes more than once!).
-Griffin is… just Griffin. His personality doesn’t change much from the book, so he’s grumpier and way, WAY less gross than comics!Griffin. The main issue the team has with him is that he’s a chronic complainer and that every now and then he makes comments about taking over the world that don’t sound quite jokey… Ah, and he’s legally blind. He also can become visible again and spends most of the time like that, since being invisible makes him anxious and paranoid. More than usual I mean.
-Nemo is basically the same as the book (I have read an abridged version- still have to read the full book, give me some time), but Nemo gets tentacle beard and NO pronouns! And a very sweet robot arm.
-Mr. Hyde is basically the same as movie LXG Hyde because I love that characterization. I won’t lie, my AU version of Hyde is based off that Hyde in pretty much everything save for a few traits. They also get the potty mouth he has in the comics (…with less slurs, I’m not THAT mean) and a book accurate design (since here the time skip is relatively short). I need you to imagine a very short guy, like four feet eight, tank his way through Moriarty’s secret lair.
-Tom is replaced by Alice (from In Wonderland), but dw, he will show up in later issues… once I get to outline them.
The main changes are in the setting really, every change in the plot stems from there. Basically Candyverse, my public domain universe AU crossover thingy… is a fantasy world version of earth that is slowly turning into a soft science fiction world version of earth. Surprise! And yes, the Martians are going to show up. Don’t be impatient! (…again, I also have to outline the sequels… Gulps.)

alright several rambly drafts later, I still try to formulate my thoughts on a show I haven’t watched yet but I think the show is doing Alicent a good service not only for fleshing but also highlighting the Targaryen belief in their own superiority as their ultimate downfall.
The show uses the narrative threat of misogyny to stitch together the events from Fire and Blood but I also think that naming the show “House of the Dragon” isn’t coincidental. The Dance of the Dragons is a highlight of misogyny fueling Westerosi society, the framing of a family drama highlighting possible paths and dead ends of women in such a society.  But I’m not here to talk about the themes of misogyny and it’s many layers but the theme of the Targaryen beliefs in their own superiority which will lay the foundation of Rhaenyra’s downfall, later Aerys. So yes, Fire and Blood was written in the narrative of a character who’s part of guild strongly biased against the Targaryen as well as magic, trying to examine different highly subjective historical records and anecdotes. Still, I think there’s a good reason why in the later record of the Dance of Dragons does not so much focus on personal motivation like when characterizing the family rift before the war. Instead we get very gruesome accounts of the destruction and war crimes committed in Tumbletone, King’s Landing, and the Riverlands, the aftermath of the was still causing destruction, the Iron Men having become the genie out of the bottle, only highly traumatized children left behind. I don’t think the the themes of misogyny and critique of monopoly on power (namely the power monopoly of the Targaryen’s) are mutually exclusive, actually the dance of the Dragon highlighting misogynistic machinations can occur due to Rhaenyra’s birth. No other family has so much power, not only in loyalists but in terms of weapons of mass destruction in the shape of dragons, so the highlight of misogyny couldn’t be so apparent. The frame of a family drama allows for a close, intimate characterization about women navigating a misogynist society. Outside of the frame of a family frame their personal drama causes war crimes, destruction all for the race for power. In that sense I found the scene in which Alicent accuses Rhaenyra to “do as she pleases without sacrifice or duty” very interesting. As many analysis broke down is it a telling characterization of Alicent being trapped in her societal role, I think Alicent correctly points out a flaw of Rhaenyra’s if not in the the Targaryen’s doings. Alicent does everything by the book, giving birth to many heirs, looking beautiful as society expects of a woman and still she’s dubbed Alicent Hightower in Fire and Blood, she remains an outsider even though doing everything expected of her. While, yes, Rhaenyra having an active love life, having bastards like many otherwise respected Lords, is no indication of her political abilities (the narrative of Fire and Blood alludes to her being much better suited than Aemond or Aegon II), she does seem to only allow her actions for herself because of her inherited name. Also partly because she grew up with Viserys letting a lot of things for which larger society judges her slide. What I want to get at, outside the family frame, Rhaenyra is still a Targaryen, seeing her actions for her sake as justified. Lately I stumbled upon a post speculating that the fact Rhaenyra not being able to establish female inheritance as new law against her counsel is a hollow victory, as Rhaenyra would be the only woman temporarily winning in a conflict originating in misogyny. I could neither agree nor disagree to this prediction because the show does thematically rearrange and reframe book events, which is seems to do very thoughtfully, the books narrative certainly opening up this possible reading but... in the continuation of F&B the narrative speculates Rhaenyra to narrowly focus on her sitting on the Throne, focusing on her victory. Then there is also how she actually does as she pleases but judging others for the same things or if they are beneath her. There’s this excellent post about the possible symbolism of Nettles which got me considering the Targaryen mindset in the first place. Rhaenyra’s first three sons are obviously bastards. When they are accused of being bastards she sends out Daemon to kill Corlys’ nephew, even Viserys ushers punishments against those claiming Rhaenyra’s sons to be bastards. Rhaenyra committing social infringement is treated by her and her father as untouchable. Yet the bastards of the Dragon seed are the first to receive unfavourable treatment. Character flaws aside, Ulf White and Hugh Hammer are treated as tacticle figures to be used, their promised rewards getting constantly delayed despite the undeniable advantages they bring towards Rhaenyra’s warfare. And who gets suspected of treason after White and Hammer switch sides? Mouse’s bastard sons. The linked post already said everything so well about Nettles, but all in all Rhaenyra loosing dragon riders, i.e. strong warfare assets is due to her narrow view on who could be seen worthy of trust due to their birth, her believing Daemon remaining loyal because she looks down on Nettles for so many classist and racist reasons. If nothing else, there’s the death of the dragons by the angry mob in King’s Landing. Rhaenyra believes so strongly in her dragons, the source of power and symbol of her house being untouchable that the angry population of King’s Landing killing them comes to an absolute shock. In that sense, the still outsider of the family Alicent, the woman who’s marrying into the family without any previous family ties, who can’t get into the family dynamic, she and her children are the ones seeing the freedom the Targaryen family members can enjoy without barely any consequences while she is not given such freedom not only because of societal expectations for women but also because she isn’t actually let into the Targaryen circle.  I neither like nor dislike Rhaenyra I’m just super interested in the shift in perspective in how the Targaryen’s race for power, focus on themselves, causes their downfall, kills their source of power (dragons) but also looses them allegiances from those they look down upon, and act as if their flaws are untouchable but judge others for them. The family had to invent an entire doctrine of their exceptionalism, propagated by faith, yet the later F&B records lend an ear to the civilians dying, causing the downfall of Rhaenyra’s side, a barely known woman killing Dalton Greyjoy who terrorized the Western coast, undermining the narrative the Targaryen’s of almost godhood the Targaryens cultivate for themselves.

Points of view – The Interview: Luca Marinelli
Tumblr media
How do you approach your characters.
Sometimes I also wonder how I get to the character. For “Non essere cattivo”, I had a very detailed script and a fascinating director at my disposal, so I didn't struggle to relate. It was a very brave script for the way it dealt with reality. At first my auditions went in the direction of Vittorio's character but also knowing the figure of Cesare, more than once I thought I would like to play him. I saw the auditions of others and I stopped to think how I could have done Cesare. Then at a certain point I remember that Claudio looked at Valerio and told him that it would be better to reverse the roles, to let me try Cesare, and so it went. When I read the script of “Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot”, the first thing that struck me, besides the courageous imagination, was to understand how a film of this kind could be made.
In the first part of your career, you brought an image of introverted and staid youth to the screen. Was this a choice.
Absolutely not. Or rather yes, it was the choice of those who met me first. Perhaps a part of my personality has been seen that could best marry the characters in question. It happened both in “La solitudine dei numeri primi” by Saverio Costanzo and later with Virzì in "Tutti i santi giorni", then it can be said that with Casare of “Non essere cattivo” and the Zingaro of “Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot” I was allowed to turn things around slightly, to play a character who had a disposition and behavior that was completely the opposite of what I had faced previously.
What do you remember about your debut with Saverio Costanzo.
He was my initiation into cinema, I came from the Academy and I had no idea what it was like to work on a set. The best memory, in addition to the experience of the film with him and Alba, is the first meeting, the first audition, where I really understood that I strongly wanted to work with him and that if this had happened I would have ended up in the hands of a great author.
With that film you found yourself in the main competition of the Venice Film Festival. What memories do you have of that first time at the lido.
Of a huge confusion and a big headache. We were tossed around from one interview to another and not only that, because the worst thing was always answering the same questions, and I was terribly worried not to make the situation even more boring for the machine operator, who never changed, and I don't think could take it longer to hear the same phrases over and over. Fortunately, Alba was there as well and saved me in more than one interview. The experience helped me because the following times I knew slightly more what I was going through and how to manage situations and keep stress at bay. Or maybe not yet, it's a long way.
I noticed that when you talk about your job you do it using the verb “to play” (giocare). Is it a coincidence or the choice has a precise meaning.
Perhaps it’s not a coincidence that in English the term recite is said precisely in this way because in my opinion to play, or the French jouez, represents the feeling of freedom and fun that is inherent in the job I do, better. As far as I'm concerned, the moment of the take is when the actor has to stop thinking, abandon worries, to be able to bring out the energy of his character. He has to play with the same seriousness and commitment with which a child does. I remember a piece of advice from Carlo Cecchi on the fact that in acting counts listening and the here and now. Being actively present to oneself and to others at that exact moment.
You have a method for achieving this condition.
If someone asked me something about technique, I wouldn't know what to answer, apart from listening. On the set of Andrea Molaioli's film in which I am the father of the young protagonist, the actor who plays him, Ludovico, who is really good, full of talent and very smart, once asked me what was the technique to make the best of the character, and the only thing I felt able to advise him was to try to be present in that moment and then to let go, listen and not think about the rest.
But I imagine that there are also practical aspects in the preparation that precedes the start of filming.
As for me, I try to prepare as much as I can before arriving on set because at the start of the shoot it would be good to be ready. But not everything happens automatically, in the sense that you can’t always find the character immediately. However, I have always been lucky enough to have more or less long periods of rehearsal before starting a film. I remember this moment with Saverio and Alba, where we spent weeks among us and also with the kids who would have played us as children, to try the various scenes and to create a union and harmony between the characters. The same happened with Paolo Virzì, Thony and I, more than once we gather, facing the script, to clarify all the passages and moments of the scenes.
And how did things go with Claudio Caligari.
The same thing also happened with Claudio even though the illness made everything more complicated for him. He asked us to change our bodies, to participate in the auditions of the other actors. This allowed all of us, the cast, to integrate and develop a unity of purpose and a truly rare familiarity. So in front of the camera it seemed to me that the gang, to which Cesare and Vittorio belonged, was really part of my life, that it wasn’t hard to pass from Luca to Cesare, because I had found him. And always to identify with the environment of the story, I preferred a house in Ostia, and Alessandro often came to me from Rome to spend time between the two of us. Claudio, in addition to having reading meetings together, also showed us films that were a source of inspiration for him for this film, such as “Accattone” by Pier Paolo Pasolini, “Rocco e i suoi fratelli” by Luchino Visconti and “Mean Sreet” by Martin Scorsese.
Instead, I wanted to ask you what happens between takes, for example when you come home after a day of work. You stay inside the character as it happens to Daniel Day Lewis, or you put it aside and think of something else like Marcello Mastroianni did.
I try to disconnect from the set. I try. I go home and try to do something else, but the last thought before falling asleep always goes to the next day's work plan and I leave myself a few minutes for the memory and concentration useful for tomorrow and then I close my eyes.
We asked Roberta Mattei and we ask you too. During the processing you were aware of the exceptional nature of what you were doing.
Yes. Let me explain: I saw with my own eyes that what was happening was exceptional, a man who was dying wanted to give his latest work to the public, to his audience, to his people, to people. This has no equal for me. Don't think about yourself in such a situation but about others.
Tumblr media
Then it was the turn of Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot.
I shot Jeeg Robot in March 2014, and therefore before “Non essere cattivo”. The fact that Mainetti's film is only coming out now is due to the long post-production period necessary to assemble the shot with the special effects present in the film.
Here as well it was an interpretation and a character who completely overturns the transparent and pristine image of the first part of your career.
To make Jeeg Robot we had to convince each other, Gabriele Mainetti and I, about my success in the character. I pushed him towards a theatricality and Gabriele towards a real madness, a pure pain. In the end, I think we have found the right amount.
The construction of the Zingaro was already very clear in the writing and it was up to us, however, to find its true aspect.
Guiding him is this crazy and boundless ego, and the obsession with having to leave a mark. The Zingaro's eccentricity is partly reflected in his look, halfway between a rock star and a suburban bully. For the costumes and make-up we were inspired by the great rock icons. We dared in some choices, such as the black coat with pink leopard lining that characterize the wardrobe. For the aspects related to the way of performing, his model was Anna Oxa and in particular the video of her at Sanremo, when she sings “Un’emozione da poco”.
In part you have already answered, but I wanted to know how you choose to accept the proposals that are made to you and if you have any foreclosures towards television, or more generally towards commercial cinema.
I choose the proposals on the basis of love at first sight that must happen with the film, with its screenplay. Then figure out who will be leading the film, meet the director. I don't have any kind of foreclosure, let's say that if I don't like something I don't do it and if I like it I do. And it doesn't matter if it's cinema or television.
As a spectator what is the cinema you love.
I like films that have something to say and that I also choose based on who directed and starred in it. Usually when they ask me to name some titles I have a void. Think that the same thing happened to me also during the audition to enter the experimental center, when Lina Wertmuller asked me the title of a film I had seen recently. I was struck by a cosmic void and instead of naming her an authoritative and important film I left her stunned by citing Batman, I think Nolan's first, still a good film, but I still had Wertmuller in front of me... But to go back to what you asked me, I tell you that in general I always like to watch films that come from Sundance, of which I remember, for example “Like Crazy”, which I found disarmingly beautiful, the films of P.T. Anderson, Wes Anderson, the Cohen, there are many, and among the Italians those played by Alba Rohrwacher, Valerio Mastandrea, Elio Germano, Kim Rossi Stuart and directed by Alice Rohrwacher, Costanzo, Virzì, Sorrentino, Garrone, Salvatores. Without forgetting those of the great Joaquin Phoenix. But in reality I look at everything, let's say that I try not to lose anything of these.
Despite the certificates of esteem you have received for your performances, the impression is that of an understatement that almost seems not to be aware of what you have achieved so far as an actor.
Whenever I see a film of mine I always think there is something I could have done better. But basically I'm happy with what I've done so far. Having said that, I think that the films alone should be enough to explain everything and that the interviews don’t add anything new to what there was to say before making them. But when I am in the dance, when I need to promote, I am committed to doing it in the best possible way. I strongly think that in life and at work it’s important to demonstrate that you know how to do and not to show at all costs that you do.

TIOL LIVEBLOG: PART 4
holy shit, game-canon character time
Note: I’m busy tomorrow, but I should be able to finish up the liveblog on Wednesday.
Spoilers under the cut:
Part 4, Chapter 1
I like how Joey is still into old-fasioneds like in DCTL
Part 4, Chapter 2
Joey Drew discovers how packaging design works
Part 4, Chapter 3
"we didn’t need Henry. he was holding us back. did I mention how much I didn’t need Henry oh god please take me back”
Joey: “I wasn’t gay for Henry” *NateA: “yes he was”
I like the contrast with Nathan considering Joey humble for not holding a grudge with Henry, but in reality he just stole all his shit and Henry left due to poor work environment
BATIM AU where Henry enters Joey’s apartment at the end and starts smacking him with a copy of this book
Henry is so bland that Joey instantly forgot his face rip
Apparently Abby is only the interim head of the art department. Not the impression I got from DCTL but whatever
not even sure if the archives are canon (probably not) but I wonder if Joey’s habit of visiting art shows factor into it
Assuming he’s not lying (which is a pretty big assumption) Joey made the BG rather than Henry. Makes sense, I don’t think they debuted until after Henry left
Henry: give me credit Joey: anyway Abby was my inspiration
“I half expected that you would be an animated character, not an actual human being” this is either more Joey-is-story-Bendy stuff, or foreshadowing for BATDR
bruh if you think people want an honest-sounding lie instead of a critique you’re not a very good art director
“a small man with a surprisingly low voice came over to talk to him” is a weirdly specific description but I don’t think it’s anyone or else Joey would’ve mentioned it
“I might even argue I don’t even have a subconscious anymore” Joey walks into his board meeting calls everyone a bitch and leaves
I feel like Joey’s reaction to Abby’s sketch is exactly how he reacts to the deformed ink creatures whenever they’re made
Abby’s like me in the “can draw realistically but can’t draw cartoons” corner
Part 4, Chapter 4
"I have excellent control over my emotions” is like, fucking hysterical
Joey spends so much of this book just dragging Henry into the dirt aljfd. we get it you had a bad breakup
“Boris was special” wondering what the hell that means
“Boris came to me in a dream, Alice was a pain in the ass, the Butcher Gang were a mistake”
“Something that wasn’t Bendy. I will never understand that drive” is a pretty clear nod to Henry wanting to be with Linda, which makes for a nice contrast with Joey regretting not having a family of his own
It’s weird, because Joey keeps saying he made Bendy, yet the scene in which he was made clearly shows Henry doing it. Like he didn’t even try to hide it
Part 4, Chapter 5
"I did make a mistake once. I fixed it” the only time Joey has done that in his life, ever
Part 4, Chapter 6
I’m assuming the chapter title is an intentional reference, given that this is a well-known song (not this remix specially, just in general
youtube
honestly I kind of love Sammy’s backstory
he blatantly says it wasn’t his birthday a page after he said it was
Jack just like, radiates Good Vibes(TM)
I can see why they’re friends. Jack takes all the attention off of Sammy who really doesn’t want it
Tumblr media
see I knew Jack was gay. no straight person dresses like that
Joey has like, a major issue with having the urge to shove people off of high places
no one: Jack:
Tumblr media
I’d also like to point out that this is canonically the first time they’ve been confirmed to be friends. This does imply some tension between them, probably because Jack’s need for attention rubs Sammy the wrong way sometimes
Sammy just walked up and made Joey his bitch. iconic
Part 4, Chapter 7
I like how Joey shows them the little animation of Bendy dancing from Chapter 1, nice touch
I have no idea how to take Sammy’s “you need a girl” other than he’s been drinking his respect women juice
Sammy: “maybe I’ll worship a God if you make a good enough one” Joey: “is that a challenge motherfucker”
In terms of characterization:
Henry seems right, nothing else to say there
I know some people have said Jack being an attention whore doesn’t fit with canon, but he mentions needing a quiet place to compose here, so I think he’s just the type of creative who can’t focus with noise and not someone who doesn’t want to be around other people by default. Him brushing off Joey getting their award is a bit more questionable, but I also noticed here that Sammy was the one who dictated if they both took the job (Jack obvs. wanted it but still). I don’t think him wanting attention and him being a pushover are two incompatible ideas.
Sammy is much better here than in DCTL (he’s not being an open bigot, for starters). I do question if he’s being a bit too much of an asshole though. Don’t get me wrong, he is, but I got the impression from BATIM (and the Hot Topic Q&A) that he can be an asshole sometimes, but isn’t 24/7. Seems a hair too aggressive here, especially as he doesn’t have a reason to be pissy. He’s not openly mean like he was in DCTL though, so like I said, it’s better.

Recappin’ Riverdale, 1x04: The Last Picture Show
Tumblr media
This episode felt like it went really quickly? I didn’t have quite as many thoughts as usual.
But also, if any of you lovely reader want to slide into my inbox and discuss anything, I am an open book! Let’s talk!
- Was Trevor Stines ever really on Riverdale? There are like 4 scenes with him and then the rest is just his corpse.....
- A week since finding his body! Marking time is so rare on Riverdale.
- AGAIN, Riverdale, can we come together on the fact that teachers having sex with their fifteen year old students is wrong? Can we get on the same page with that?
- JUGHEAD IS A MOVIE GUY REMEMBER
- The first of only two instances that Jughead calls Betty “Betts”. Take note, fanfic. It’s only happened twice.
- Anonymous buyer? Yes, whoever could that be.
- The tiny smile Jughead gives Betty. He’s crushing so hard.
- Class? Oh yeah, that’s something Hermoine Lodge (esp the current interation of her) has so much of
- God the Fred/Archie/Grundy scenes are SO uncomfortable
- I just have a great NEED for more Jeronica snark scenes.
- Thank god for Betty bringing up the whole...illegal angle?
- WHY DO THEY ALL USE STATION WAGONS
- BRYAN TROUT ULRICH FIRST SCENE
- Jug knows Betty more than Archie does
- I love Cheryl’s hair in a ponytail
- Ah, the days where Hermoine is in ANY way a decent parent.
- Hermoine: When have I ever lied to you? LOL
- Okay, so they’re allowed to say Facebook and LinkedIn?
- “I’m sorry. I’m done. I’ll stop digging.” Narrator: She was not done.
- Again, skipping the Archie/Grundy scene because EW
- It’s actually really hard to use a fake name to secure a permanent position I would be curious about the logistics of Grudy’s long-term game.
- Okay, because when FP gets more into this, you, my lovely reader, will see a lot more of these rants, but FP JONES II MADE HIS OWN BED. HE WAS AN ABUSIVE ALCOHOLIC AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE SHOW IS TRYING TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE HE WAS THE WRONGED PARTY OR WHY JUGHEAD IS DEFENDING HIM SO MUCH.
- Parentdale being shady AF as usual. Quickly being followed by them being instantly forgiven, as usual.
(you may be able to tell that this is another one of my sticking points)
- Alice Cooper’s characterization was a bit more consistent at this time.
- None of the cars at this drive in look newer than 80s. What warped timezone does Riverdale exist in?
- Alice popping in on Fred and Hermoine I love it. I worship this version of Alice. At least she was consistent.
- Cheryl squeezing in with Kev and V is oddly sweet.
-  I’ll say this again: Jason was the ONLY person Cheryl had and she has no outlet to process her grief. Why are people annoyed when she talks about him?
- Cheryl wants some alone time with Veronica. She doesn’t actually let her slip away. Again, the poor girl just wants some comfort.
- Ah Joaquin. Nice to meet you.
- Kevin ordering all the food because FUCK IT is a whole mood
- Kevin and Joaquin just kinda agreeing “I’m cool if you’re cool” is great
- Kevin SAW Joaquin with the serpents. Is it a big shock that he’s a serpent?
- GRUNDY IS A PREDATOR.
- Archie recognizing how stupid he is, I LIVE
- BOTH Lodges being shady. I am not here to excuse Hermoine.
- Fred Andrews being the only A+ parent again.
- I mean I already knew who FP was so this is not a shock. The fact that Jughead would rather live in a closet than with him is something Riverdale has rarely acknowledged.
- I like this song that’s playing at the end here. Very mood-appropriate.

OMG I SEE EXACTLY WHAT U MEAN ABT SICHENG IN ROYALTY/CHAEBOL AUS... i think like u said it’s because of his poise & the way ppl are generally in awe of him but also bc of his reluctance to open up!! more reserved until he trusts u... funny and kind but sometimes perceived as aloof... those r some prince tendencies! “what are corporate businesses but modern day kingdoms” LMFAOOWJDJ SERIOUSLY THO
“mans really said i will not give you any onscreen idol personality to work with” HDJWJDJWJSJ LITERALLYYYY this is why i have trouble reading jaehyun fics sometimes bc sometimes they can feel “inaccurate” but its mostly just bc there’s no Standard Personality Stereotype to go off of. but a random & uncommon trope i think he’d pair well with is exes to lovers!! Yes im basically just a jaehyun + angst advocate.
“i think most of them would pair well with bff2l??” FACTTTTTTT and no im not just saying this bc its one of my favorite tropes.. heh... i think i told u this before?? but ur like the main reason i started enjoying e2l!!! i didnt like it before bc i love the PINING in bff2l but then i started reading ur works n was like OH SHIT! PLSSS SOMETIMES I WILL SEE AN EDIT/TIKTOK OF OIKAWA AND BE LIKE DAMN I REALLY NEED TO CATCH UP I MISS THIS MF also are you daring me to ruin my life for 2d men bc i will do it without hesitation. wait till i watch hq again and get that atsumu brainrot with you he seems annoying enough for me to like ^_^
AND YES PLS I WAS SO ABSORBED IN IT!! extracurricular was the most gripping show i’ve watched in a while like yes enough teen romance give me two unhinged teenagers doing crime 🤩 AND OMG??? THAT’S WHERE WE SAW HIM TOO and although niragi was literally vomit-inducing human trash, sakurada dori is like. a good actor. except i hated coffee&vanilla which starred him it was literally so cringe i couldn’t 😭 i blame the writers for that though. IM EXCITED FOR S2 OF ALICE IN BORDERLAND THO i really like horror (and i can tolerate gore if ive been desensitized enough) and like i read the manga too!!! the games were really interesting (although morbid).
😭😭 MY NOTES APP IS FULL OF RECS FROM FRIENDS ALL OF THEM HATE ME FOR NOT WATCHING THE SHOWS BUT LIKE. i binge 3 or 4 at a time and strike them off and then go 6 months without watching a single tv series hhh.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I SURE WILL UPDATE !!! it’s so exciting to think about grad school sometimes :33
AHHH IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT AND THE PREVIEW TOO SGSDJKDS there’s a few differences in the actual fic i think bc i changed up the language (and i dont remember what else bc i refuse to look at my writing) JAEHYUN RLLY IS A LITTLE SHIT he’ll be like hm yeah im pretty chill :) and then proceed to beat yn at her own game at times. (she wins mostly dw) the fact that i made her soulmate cha eunwoo like girl if i were you i’d crash their relationship 🥱 (jk) but like. jaehyun too is 🤩 despite being dry af
ASDKDSKDS YOU REREAD ALL (ALMOST) 19K WORDS ??? IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE THAT FIC SM AAAAHHH IM FEELING LIKE AN ACTUAL AUTHOR 🥰 i loved runway yn too they were like boss attitude with 20% anxiety.
LOOK JENO BETTER BE PULLING MOVES LIKE THAT TO IMPRESS THE GIRLS 😤 if he hits himself in the forehead with the apple, bonus points bc that was true comedy (as invented by taemin)
AND YES. LIKE I KNOW MARK HATED DONGHYUCK SO MUCH HE WANTED TO LEAVE SM BUT LIKE HE’S TOO NICE WITH EVERYONE ELSE 😭😭😭 i cannot picture him pissed off apart from that summer fight </3
thinking about dejun getting rejected by a girl he wrote a song for. rip brother.
IM GLAD YOU PUT THAT INTO WORDS BC THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT IT IS!!! he’s got all of these regal qualities but he’s still human ykyk so it makes for the most amiable person on earth 😌 i love this characterization of him!!
oof exes to lovers with jaehyun... i had a similar idea a while ago (with theme song sincerity is scary by the 1975) that i discarded bc i don’t think i’m cut out to write that 😭 (YET) so i will keep this is mind. u r so right about jaehyun feeling inaccurate bc it’s like he’s very mild in personality onscreen sometimes?? so him having strong personality traits makes me go 🤔🤔 that man is overreacting. (jkjk but like you get the idea)
WAIT RLLY OMG BC OF ME???? i would never enjoy e2l irl bc irl dudes are 🤢🤢 and if they annoy me i will end them. but in fiction the mutual pining and initial disgust at yourself for liking the other??? helllooo 🤩🤩🤩 especially if it’s in a romcom style <3 bff2l is also better in fiction bc if the relationship doesnt work out irl and the person become uncomfortable with me i will just get annoyed jskshdl
LMAO YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABOUT YANGYANG HE’S JUST THAT™ DUDE skgkhs he feels like someone fun to hang out with but he would annoy you the whole time. also he is cute 🥰
AND EXACTLY!!!! IM HAPPY FOR ROYALTY AUS BUT CMON. LOOK AT THOSE VAMPIRE TEETH. feel like media ruined vampires for people 😔
THIS IS SUCH A NICE BREAK FROM STUDYING HONESTLY!!!! im like working on two semi-large projects AND studying course and out-of-course material simultaneously so my brain is a little fried. thank u for this 😘

You asked us to remind you that you wanted to make a post about Elina and the Summers 👀?- That PCS Anon
Oh boy I have a LOT to say, some of it actually involves Elina and some not but here we go.
Lately I’ve been feeling like I should maybe adjust Elina’s place in the Summers family, bc she... almost doesn’t have one. And a lot of that has to do with me feeling like she wouldn’t really like Earth, and since she’s pretty independent in the movies, I feel like she wouldn’t necessarily jump at the chance to get to know her biological family, especially since it involves a fair amount of travel on her part. At least to see Rip; Lucinda is a distance away, but at least she’s on the same planet.
I also don’t know how Elina would reconcile her parentage yet. I don’t want to get too far away from her canon characterization, of course, so it probably shouldn’t be too angsty... but it also can’t not affect her at all, and I don’t know where the middle ground is. So, there’s all that to figure out, and this really has to be decided before I can decide where (if anywhere) Elina really fits among her siblings. (And not really being involved is a valid choice, imo. I say this as someone with 4 estranged half-siblings myself lol.)
And that’s just where she begins. She can, and should, develop as time goes on. I’ve got stories for some of the Summers going out for decades, and regardless of what Elina decides when she’s 16, by the time she’s 92, she should probably be different. Otherwise she’s just a static character, and Elina grows a lot over just three movies (which at least one of the novelizations have within just a few months of each other), so the idea that she would never change over that long of a time is just absurd. But she’s so up in the air, I can’t really decide on an arc for her to have. It’s just a long, tedious process unfortunately bc it’s a lot of analysis to decide where she starts, and then where I want her to go.
One thing I do want Elina to do would happen when she was 33. See, for his 16th birthday, Rillian wants to visit Mermaidia. He’s really interested in mermaid history and wants to know what mermaids are like when they’re not from Earth, bc he’s heard stories but obviously never met any. Roxana wants to go too, but since she wants to become Queen of Oceana in a year and a half and that’s already a lot for her parents to process, she’s not about to piss Rip off by asking to traipse off to Mermaidia.
However, Rillian doesn’t have any such designs, so he’s ready to push the issue, and Rip is not happy.
Rip’s time in Fairytopia wasn’t... awful. It was interesting, of course; he saw a lot of things he couldn’t have imagined, and was very aware of his (probably) being the first human to ever do so. But he didn’t choose to go there, and he couldn’t leave, and the whole time he was there he was thinking about the fact that Merliah was growing up without her father (or maybe that she wasn’t, that something could have happened to her and he wasn’t there). So it was emotionally very taxing, and even 17 years after the fact, he really doesn’t want any of his family to go there. Even if it’s safe and there’s virtually no chance of them getting trapped like he did, he doesn’t want to take that risk.
Rillian’s aware of this, obviously. And he also knows that even if he’s technically an adult by mermaid standards, he’s still got 2 years left in his parents’ eyes before he can really go out and do whatever he wants. (Calissa is on Rip’s side as far as adulthood is concerned.) He could just wait 2 years and go and Rip couldn’t stop him, but frankly he doesn’t want to wait. He’s an impatient kid. So he calls in the big guns: Elina.
(Is this perhaps a shitty thing to do to your dad, knowing perfectly well how he feels? Yes. But he’s a kid and he’s going to try to get his way.)
Anyway, so then Elina shows up, and she’s very much on Rillian’s side. Fairytopia’s perfectly safe, or at least as safe as Earth is; as long as you don’t do anything stupid, you’ll probably be fine. And she’ll be there to show Rillian around on land, and she has mermaid friends that can show him around underwater. He won’t just be wandering around by himself somewhere where he could get into a dangerous situation. Elina knows about the 18 vs 16 thing, but she doesn’t really think it matters bc Rillian won’t be a kid forever, and would it really be better if he just goes in 2 years when you can’t stop him? He’s trying to work with you, he called me in here to argue for him, and that alone proves that he is taking this seriously.
At this point, Rip is very torn, bc they are technically making good points, but he’s still so anxious at thought of any of his family being there. (Including Elina, btw. But he didn’t meet her til she was already grown and she doesn’t like Earth and he couldn’t exactly tell her “abandon everything you know and come live with me, a stranger” so he’s just kept his mouth shut about it.) No amount of thinking about it being safe (even while he was there!) will really change the separation anxiety in the back of his head.
Calissa, for her part, has mostly sided with Rip bc she thinks that Rillian should wait and go on his own time. She’s not opposed to him going at all, and in fact she wants to visit Fairytopia one day herself, but she’s basically decided to wait until Rip is dead so he doesn’t have to think about it lol. (The perks of it basically being guaranteed that you’ll outlive your spouse, I guess. You can do whatever you want when they’re gone! Not that Rip would actively prevent Calissa from doing what she wanted, certainly not, but she knows how much it would kill him.) She knows Rillian won’t wait that long, but he could wait a few years more, like Roxana’s going to, since she also wants to go, but she’s gonna wait til she’s Queen and Rip can’t tell her no anymore.
But Rillian’s not the waiting type, and even if that’s a dick move, he feels like it’s also a dick move for Rip to not let him take a supervised trip to a place that he’s already been. Like, what if he wanted to go to Paris and stay with Alice for 2 weeks? Would that be fine? And if it is fine, then why not Elina in Fairytopia (and Mermaidia)? And what if I do wait 2 years and essentially go behind your back, do you really think that’s better?
Anyway, the discussion goes on for a long time, but eventually Rip agrees to a weekend trip, and if that goes well, they can think about more visits in the future. Rillian’s disappointed bc 2 days really isn’t that long, but he pushed it this far and knows to quit while he’s ahead, and he’s actually pretty far ahead. So that’s the story of how Rillian first visits Fairytopia and Mermaidia, with Elina chaperoning (and also Nori and Nalu, in the water). Big sister Elina to the rescue, for perhaps once in her life... or maybe not, depending where she ends up. But I do think that would be a significant moment, and Rillian would probably end up closer to her than anyone else bc of it. (“Closer” being a relative term, tho, no pun intended.) We’ll see.
The only other one I think of her getting close to, farther in the future, is Roxana’s daughter Ariella. Maybe. I’m still deciding what I want to do with her. But so far, that’s it. And I might keep it that way, bc Elina’s got her own thing going on and that’s fine, she doesn’t really have to be tied up with her family that she doesn’t really know just bc they share blood. If it happens, it happens, but if it doesn’t, she’ll just pop up occasionally when someone reaches out.
All my posts these days are rambles but I’m getting into the future parts of my barbieverse, which means I’m leaving canon behind so I have to decide everything and it takes me years to make decisions lmao

Alicization Rewatch ep 15-16
Besides Eugeo a lot of Kirito’s characterization and development in anime adaptation was not emphasized as strongly as the LNs (and some key points are even glossed over), so I want to give you the deeper context behind his actions.
In these episodes, we met the cunning little Integrity Knights Fizel and Linel, and an incredible Kirito vs Fanatio fight. I remember seeing quite a number of anime-only viewers asking these questions: Why did Kirito spend so much time loitering around the Underworld (for more than 2 years even)? Shouldn’t somebody like him try to get back to real life ASAP? Why did he take so much effort to help Eugeo and Underworld?
1) To Kirito, Underworld is the dream virtual reality that Aincrad failed to be, he loves Underworld more than enough to protect it
In the light novel, Kirito compared between Aincrad & Underworld, and he realized while Aincrad was full on stress and battles day in and day out, Underworld was full of fun time living with Eugeo and interacting with his friends at school, even more than real life, to the point he thought he betrayed Asuna and his other friends for enjoying Underworld life, so going to jail in UW was his punishment for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, as he watched all the injustice that the Taboo Index and Axiom Church had caused normal citizens in the Underworld he so cherishes to suffer, he couldn’t just stay put, that’s why he fought so hard to topple its government and protect the kind souls that gave him a stay in this world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eugeo, watching how Kirito fought Fanatio, finally learned what true strength means, it’s not due to their weapons and skills, it’s because their hearts are so strong that they could perform such incredible feat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thanks to the game Alicization Rising Steel for adding this LN dialogue back to the Alicization plot, it’s such an important moment to show Eugeo’s development and it’s also the catalyst for Fizel and Linel’s change of heart in War of Underworld, I’m sad anime cut it.
2) Kirito wanted to take Eugeo to real world so much he would do anything for it
Tumblr media
First of all, Eugeo is the first AI to break the Seal of the Right Eye, he put rules and his life away to save his friends, that makes him the first A.L.I.C.E candidate who entered complicated dilemma and performed a difficult conscious choice successfully that prioritized justice. Of course Kirito wanted to take Eugeo to meet Kikuoka and also tell Kikuoka not to delete the Underworld, where thousands of souls have the right to live here. For that he said: “I had to get Eugeo to the top floor of the cathedral safely—the place where I should find a control console that would let us disengage the simulation and return to reality.”
Secondly, Eugeo had given Kirito so much more than just a normal friend: a company of more than 2 years, direction from Rulid to Centoria, money, Sacred Arts, Taboo Index lessons, and he also nearly gave up his Life for Kirito twice. How could Kirito not want Eugeo to continue staying with him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It just gets me everytime I rewatch when Eugeo selflessly gave no hesitance to transfer his Life to Kirito here
Kirito also said he wanted to turn Alice over to their side so that it’s easier for Eugeo to agree to go with him to real world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poor Kirito, he so wanted to tell Eugeo the truth but he couldn’t because he didn’t want to confuse Eugeo and let them focus on fighting.
(Personal opinion: Kirito should have told Eugeo the truth here though, Eugeo had always had insecurity about Kirito leaving him some day, an assurance from Kirito would help him so much when he faced Administrator’s brainwashing later, if only he knew how much Kirito truly cares for him T_T)
They later met and fought with Alice Synthesis 30, which ended up blowing Kirito and Alice outside the Cathedral.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know, it seriously hurts seeing Eugeo being so desperate running after his friends, he lost them the 2nd time and was left alone again.
Next episodes we’ll see how Kirito’s persuasion of Alice to turn to their side fares, and how Eugeo would face off against the enemies alone in Central Cathedral.
Other comments:
- This is the face of the man who looked down on Fanatio when he learned that Fanatio is a woman during their fight, it was an extremely insulting experience to her:
Tumblr media
And we met him again in War of Underworld:
Tumblr media
He’s Shasta, the Dark Knights’ Commander in Dark Territory. Yes, he used to be a sexist man due to how bad the society in Dark Territory is. But after he met Lipia, the love of his life who showed him the true strength a female warrior can have, he had a change of heart. His fate later was sad though.
- There is a very hilarious moment when Kirito and Eugeo freaked out over bugs after the Fanatio fight and it shows despite being strong swordmen they’re still just silly 19-year-old boys. It’s such a shame anime has cut it. I’ll reblog that moment again later.

Understanding BvS’s Lex Luthor: CSA and Repressed Homosexuality
(Re-posted with minor revisions after I moved accounts and accidentally deleted this post)
Lex’s motivations are quite explicit in BvS, he has a whole speech explaining why he is doing what he’s doing and what he says is consistently shown throughout his screentime. But I think there is a lot unspoken beneath the surface that most people wouldn’t think of, based on my observations I think that BvS’s Lex was molested by his father and that he’s sexually attracted to Clark, and that his issues with Superman partially stem from the duality of desiring Clark and being afraid of him. That may sound strange, especially the csa bit, but hear me out because there is quite a bit of evidence and it may give you a clearer perspective on the character.
NOTE: I just want to clarify that it is not at all my intention to equate homosexuality with CSA nor demonize CSA survivors, I’m simply observing this particular character who happens to be a villain. Lex being attracted to Clark doesn’t make him villainous, the way he deals with it because of trauma and internalized homophobia is the problem.
1.) Daddy’s Abominations?
“No man in the sky intervened when I was a boy to save me from daddy’s fists and abominations!”
Tumblr media
This is quite self-explanatory, Lex just said that his father sexually abused him. The only other possible interpretation I could think of is a more general ‘my dad made me evil because he was evil’ but that’s a really weak explanation especially since the line is equated with the trauma of being beaten by his dad and the way he is very visibly triggered saying that line. When he finishes “abominations” he immediately flinches away from Superman and shakes his hand in front of his face as if desperately trying to erase what he just confessed.
2.) Lolita + Alice in Wonderland
“Plain Lo in the morning, Lola is slacks -“
“Late, late says the white rabbit”
Lolita and Alice in Wonderland...those are interesting choices of literature for a supervillain to quote. You’d think something more threatening and/or pretentious would be an obvious choice for a traditional mastermind-type supervillain rather than two obscure (not very masculine) classics that only have one thing in common: themes of sexual obsession and pedophilia.
Lolita is the story of a pedophile who uses his power as a step-father to groom and sexually abuse a child. Alice in Wonderland, while not having explicit pedophilic content, was written by a suspected pedophile and is obsessively focused on a child that there are photographs of the author kissing on the mouth. These are the two novels Lex relates to enough to quote them casually off the top of his head.
3.) The “it’s cherry” scene
Tumblr media
So this is obviously a sexual innuendo but the question is, why this guy? This character is utterly unimportant on his own and this doesn’t affect anything plot-wise which means this action is entirely about characterizing Lex. What are they trying to communicate here? This guy represents a figure similar to Lex’s father, an older businessman who behaved as if he had authority over Lex, and Lex’s instinct to that is to assert dominance in a sexually suggestive manner. This establishes Lex as a character who uses sexuality to dominate and make others uncomfortable, and relates it to a man who who represents his father.
4.) Two Versions Of The Same Scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lex caressing Zod’s face directly parallels him caressing around Clark’s face, even the framing is identical. I think these are two versions of Lex confronting Superman, one with the actual Superman where he has to keep his distance and put on a callous front, and the other with a Kryptonian corpse he can project Superman onto. The scene with Zod I think shows how Lex truly feels about Clark. “You flew too close to the sun” he’s saying this and crying as he’s creating a monster to kill Clark which makes me think those words were not for Zod but the god he feels he has to kill. There’s no reason for Lex to cry for Zod, Lex has no relationship with him, it’s much more coherent that this scene is using Zod’s body as a substitute for what Lex can’t express to the real Superman.
EDIT: Upon rewatch I noticed a small moment where the Jolly Rancher Dude (I don’t think he has a name lol?) says with a smile “You want Zod’s body?” and Lex goes “Okay”, it’s a very playful interaction and it I think strengthens the connection between Zod’s body being an implied sex symbol of Superman.
4.5.) The Sexual Tension In The Rooftop Scene
Every moment of the rooftop scene (and all of this film) is so multilayered and intense, I could talk about it for hours but I want to talk a little more about the moment in the above gif.
Seconds before this, Lex was wagging his fingers inches for Superman’s glowing laser eyes but now when he knows Clark isn’t going to attack him, he won’t touch him? Lex is less afraid of having his fingers burned off than he is to touch Clark’s head knowing that he won’t do anything. Because Lex would be happy if Superman burned him, that would prove him right and give him an easy category to put Clark in but letting himself touch Clark in an ‘affectionate’ manner is terrifying.
A straight male villain that just wanted to use physical contact to assert dominance over the hero would have touched Clark here (and also would have no reason to caress Zod’s dead body) but Lex can’t even though he’s literally trembling with desire to and we know for a fact he’s not afraid of invading Clark’s personal space in an even more physically dangerous moment.
5.) The Dual Realities Of An Abused Child
“If God is all good then he cannot be all powerful.”
Now, I’m not an expert in psychology but I will do my best to articulate this. When someone, especially a child, is abused by someone they love it creates an extreme paradox in their mind. They love this person and they have to trust them but they also have to fear them, their brains are forced to compartmentalize when this person is a threat vs when they are a protector. In some cases, like Lex’s, this can lead to someone entirely thinking in absolutes and dualities.
It’s a consistent theme in Lex’s dialogue that he thinks in absolutes. The cornerstone of his ideology is people have to be “all good” or “all powerful” when really no one is either, there arguably is no such thing as either.
It’s also a theme that he has dual views of people in his life, the most prominent being his father and Superman. In one scene he’s reminiscing about wishing his dad would come back, in another he’s emotionally describing the abuse he inflicted. And Lex does the same with Clark as explained in point 4.
Lex even seems to have a dual view of himself. In the rooftop scene he points to himself as “the evil in the world” but his speech about Prometheus at the party is clearly meant to illustrate that he sees himself as a misunderstood savior of humanity (this is even confirmed in the bonus material).
6.) Internalized Homophobia
“I don’t hate the sinner, I hate the sin.”
Two things are important to me with this line. First is that it reinforces point 5 but also this is a very, very common phrase in homophobic rhetoric so for him to say this and gesture to Clark’s body as the “sin” has implications. And yes, yes, I know he meant that Clark’s powers are a sin but things can have double meanings and I sincerely doubt that anyone making a movie in the western world’s current political climate wouldn’t realize that phrase is strongly linked to homophobia.
To elaborate on how it reinforces 5: Lex is openly saying that he doesn’t hate Clark, he just hates his power, which brings us back to the idea of an abuse victim’s dual reality. It’s Clark’s power that is the threat to him but he can still love Clark, same way his father’s abuse was a threat but he can still love his father. Note: Lex calls Clark “my friend” and “Clark Joe” and similar affectionate names throughout their interactions which I think suggests that Lex sees Clark as partially a person.
7.) Conclusion
DCEU’s Lex Luthor was a fresh, contemporary take on the character so it was a jarring difference from the Lex we’ve seen in other recent mainstream media. I also think it was upsetting partially because it took away Lex as a male power fantasy; a buff, suave billionaire who’s hyper masculine and doesn’t let anything get to him including his canonical abuse. Now we’ve got this definitely charming and silver-tongued but effeminate and deeply traumatized Lex that I think is much, much more dynamic and compelling (and definitely fits this universe) but was uncomfortable for people that were attached to the charecter as a male power fantasy.
Nevertheless we need more villains like this. That can be both intimidating and vulnerable, that are human and offer a real ideological opposition to the hero. BvS could not have been the story it is without this Lex. BvS is a brilliant and nuanced film about how fear and trauma affects people’s worldviews, which is an important thing to explore when you have a Superhero that is the embodiment of hope. It’s important to show that not everyone can have hope so easily and to humanize those people.
Anyways this post is really long and I could literally talk for days about DCEU and this film especially so thanks for reading, please be respectful in the notes.

3am thought for The Magicians last night, thanks to some random sentence in an article that set me off. Pardon that it’s a little jumbled.
Okay here me out. If Jason Ralph was leaving the show, then that's that. They proceeded forward on the presumption that his physical portrayal was unavailable for the storyline. Fine, I hate it, but I get it. But if that's the case, the writers could have done something WAY better with Eliot's storyline with the Dark King. Both are people grieving the loss of a loved one, but while Eliot is fresh in his grief, Seb has been consumed by it for years and years. Really good character contrast, I felt. Think about what they could have done with this season if they would have put that grief processing more front-and-center as a storyline. They’re all grieving to some degree, and it’d be a better way to tie everyone’s individual stories together than that moonpocalypse plotline that really only served to give Alice the chance to master internal circumstances. For example: Alice’s depression golem obviously ties in (response), Fen/Josh/Margo tiff about choosing when to let go could tie in (timing), Fen’s grief at losing Fillory could tie in (memory), Penny’s unresolved grief over the thing with his mom could tie in (connection), etc. EVERY plotline had an element of loss and grief, which would have made “processing grief” a really easy core theme to revolve everything around. Especially if it turned out to be the final season, and the audience is now grieving too for the series itself, god it would resonated so well. Don't get me wrong, Mountain of Ghosts as written was an amazing episode, probably one of my favorites in the series (surprising, considering I was pretty underwhelmed by season 5 as a whole). It just hit a lot of really right emotional notes, and what it did to bring Eliot and Alice together in mourning was brilliant. I love that episode, the episode was good. Come at me.
THAT SAID. Getting back to Eliot and his Dark King foil. What if Eliot didn't quite finish mourning in that episode? What if he revisited with Seb, as he did -- became Court Magician or whatever, blah blah blah -- but inadvertently let himself get caught up by Seb's resolve to resurrect Lance, and let himself have that hope that he could have Quentin back the same way. And he starts to align himself with Seb's line of thought -- crucial note: not so much that it erases the importance of Eliot believing Seb's "just some deluded asshole" while all the rest of his friends were immediately looking for a way to kill him, because that too was important characterization for Eliot. But they could have made a much better use of Eliot/Seb's relationship (and Hale/Sean's fuckin' A+ chemistry) and the buildup to the finale would have been way more impactful IMO if you'd have seen him buying into the hope of reviving Quentin (if nothing else, making it seem like at least one person was gonna work as hard to revive Q as he did trying to save others in past seasons). And the progression to the finale is Eliot gaining the understanding of the importance of being able to move on. Think about the parallel they could have had: all the work that Rupert put in and the Beast claims the whole time "Lance moved on already" and then you can parallel that understanding for Eliot and Quentin, that yes it's horrific and devastating to lose a person you've loved so dearly and completely, but there's also something to be said about loving them enough to let them have their peace. If Quentin walked through the door already, then he accepted his death, just as much as he would have wanted Eliot to embrace life and not lose himself in what he’s lost. It'll be shitty for a time, but THAT is the "importance of death" message, and THAT is the right message to send about moving through grief. Eliot learns that lesson, and then through him he's able to impart it to Rupert, the storyline mostly closes out the same way but maybe this time with Eliot realizing he’s not defined by his losses (and doesn’t have to fuckin’ settle--sorry, sorry, that’s a rant for another day). The whole thing would also make Quentin's death fit WAY better with the established theme that "while you're alive, you can try again". It's the perfect loophole for writing a permanent major death in a show where they save every last fucking person: while you're alive, you can have as many chances as you're willing to take to push forward, but there's also an importance in accepting death and being able to move on from a loss (ie. ‘push forward’). They fit. The two messages absolutely fit that way without making you seem like a hypocrite to themes on which you've built 4 goddamn seasons.
And so yeah, if Jason is going then Jason is going, but I'm circling back to "Jason leaving is no reason to have shitty writing surrounding the impact of Quentin being gone". That's their responsibility as the writers, to make it work within the context of the story and its mood and its characters' motivations. That's where they dropped the ball. That's where they could have done better. That's how they could have made the death message seem way less of a giant middle finger to their audience members and instead just the normal respectful melancholy of a beloved actor/main character needing to leave the show.

I love your fics, they’re really well written and I get excited whenever I see an update! I always tell myself to wait until more chapters build up so I’m not reading just one each time, but I have no willpower lol Random questions re: your Magicians fics: have any of the fics change the way you see/perceive canon and/or the characters? Have your favorite characters changed now that you’ve written more fics, or are there show plot lines you hate/love more now?
Oh, damn, it’s Christmas.
Tumblr media
These are my favorite kind of writing questions and the sort of thing I think about a lot (like, A LOT a lot) but would never subject on people unsolicited. So thank you for asking—and your kind words—even though it took me some time to answer!
Under the cut because, you know, long.
1) Have your fics changed the way you perceive canon and/or the characters? Yes, absolutely! It’s given me so much more empathy for (almost) all of the characters, even when the way they were written in canon frustrated the hell out of me. For instance, writing Not Always Folly was a good thing for me, re: my feelings of resentment toward canon Alice and as a way to rediscover why I once cited her as a favorite character. I think some people think I excluded her from Something Good out of dislike but that was actually not the case at all. I love her, but I was kinda-sorta devastated by the path her narrative took. Fic lets me remember and recapture the things that hooked me.
In a similar vein, the writing on the show wasn’t always perfect (lol), but I still do admire their judicious use of small moments to build big stakes and deep relationships. A lot of that can be credited to the actors too, but there were definitely places the writing excelled, especially early on. Fic has helped me identify and analyze those parts, which is both helpful as a writer and surprisingly healing as a fan.
2) Have your favorite characters changed now that you’ve written more fics? Yes and no. I mean, I think I’ve grown into a more settled/detailed take on all of them the more I write. But at the same time, my fics are often self-contained universes and so my characterizations can shift a lot too. I like trying out different facets and dynamics when I can! That’s part of the fun for me.
For example, Margo in Little Quirks of Fate probably wouldn’t like Margo in Something Good very much, lol. But the fics—and her character in those fics—attempt to accomplish different things. One exists in a pure rom-com setting that mostly explored her trying to be friends with someone other than Eliot. The other is in part an exploration of her struggle to rule a kingdom alongside the person she loves more than anything, but who also doesn’t seem to want the power he was given that she craves. Totally different stakes and motivations, so different parts of her come out/get the focus. I don’t think either is my “true” Margo.
But at the same time, my basic anchors for her—performatively clever and crass, unabashedly self-confident, deeply devoted to those she loves, etc.—don’t really change much from fic to fic, though they’ve gotten refined over time and thousands of words later. At least I hope! And I especially hope that’s the case for my take on all the characters, in different ways.
3) Plot lines you love/hate now? I have SO MUCH love for the minor Fillory storylines now, it’s ridiculous. The way magic fuels the Fillorian economy! Eliot trying to find loopholes! Benedict and Penny! Margo declaring war on Loria! Sentient boats and questing creatures! All of it. It’s not a popular opinion (I know some people call those plots Filler-y) but I could have watched a whole show just about Eliot and Margo trying/failing to rule by the seat of their pants, especially if it came with more Q. Which is another part of why I’m writing Little Quirks of Fate. :)
On the flip side, there are a lot of canon plots that I don’t care for (don’t get me STARTED on Penny-40) but I felt that way even without fic writing. But I think through my fic, the one that hits the worst is “Mike was a plant for The Beast the whole time.” It’s actually a big part of why I tend to write No Beast AUs now. I actually enjoyed most of The Beast storyline in canon (except the messaging about Martin as a sexual assault victim) but writing fic was what really made me grapple with just how fucking traumatic that would have been for Eliot. So now I circumvent it because it’s just... too much for me.
***
Anyway, wow, this was super long. Thank you, thank you, thank you. So much love to you for letting me ramble and for being here. 💗

WIG REVIEW: PERRY MASON
Tumblr media
It’s time for a prestige tv show wig review!! HBO’s reboot of Perry Mason has wrapped its season and I have a lot to say about it. SPOILERS AHEAD if you haven’t watched the full season. I had never watched the original Perry Mason (or read the books) but my mom did both and watching the new series with her was a lot of her comparing the new with the old. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE WIGS? Let’s discuss. Much like all HBO shows, the wig budget seems virtually nonexistent despite the fact that all HBO shows are definitely made out of money. WHAT GIVES?!?! I’ll be breaking down the hair character by character (skipping for the most part the wigless characters):
PERRY MASON
Tumblr media
So many many of you have been trying to get me to watch The Americans, which is how most Americans were introduced to actor Matthew Rhys. AND I’M STILL NOT GONNA WATCH IT because though apparently there are many wigs, they are wigs within the narrative of the show so: WHATEVER. THEY ARE ALLOWED TO BE BAD! MOVING ON! I was introduced to Mr. Rhys first by running into him (literally) in my neighborhood (we’re neighbors!) and then seeing him as a grumpy grump in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (there is a neighborhood theme happening here...) Anyway: he is really good in this show and I was thankful every week that Perry was not played by Robert Downey, Jr (who originally was set to play him but still produced). Regardless: he doesn’t wear a wig but he does wear the shit out of some hats.
PETE STRICKLAND
Tumblr media
Technically, Perry’s frenemy Pete is wigless as well but he wears the hell out of a mustache and that cannot go unnoticed!
DELLA STREET
Tumblr media
Perry’s girl Friday and I guess the moral center of the show has one of the better wigs but it is still kind of the pits. Set in 1931-32, the series wigmaster clearly decided that ALL WOMEN wore fingerwave bobs and therefore all female characters have basically the same wig, with varying levels of success. Della’s is not the worst but that is mainly because she is constantly wearing hats.
Tumblr media
When not wearing hats...it’s another story, dog. This thing is an untamed nightmare of bends and angles. Still, compared to the other fingerwave bobs in this show, it is (sadly!) one of the best.
EMILY DODSON
Tumblr media
First off, I’m really glad that one of my favorite characters in GLOW is on this show. However, UGH THIS WIG. We first encounter Emily as the mother of a kidnapped/murdered baby who soon becomes the #1 suspect.
Tumblr media
Therefore, throughout the series her wig really takes a turn from bored housewife to inmate to courthouse to cemetery resurrections and back again. And through it all, this wig takes a journey from bent wig to more bent wig!
Tumblr media
Even in the courtroom....YIKES. Look at the shine on this thing! And the texture. HORRIFIC.
Tumblr media
No amount of prestige lighting can hide its horror!!!!
LUPE GIBBS
Tumblr media
The only female character who is NOT running around in a fingerwave bob is Perry’s love interest/aviator/landlord, Lupe. I guess this character was supposed to be ahead of her time and kind of a Mexican Amelia Earhart but much like her characterization, this wig was kind of a mess, in fountains and out.
PAUL DRAKE
Tumblr media
Again, dude doesn’t have a wig but it must be noted that he wears hats well.
CLARA DRAKE
Tumblr media
So straight up: I was worried about Paul Drake’s wife for basically ALL OF THIS SERIES. As soon as he was introduced as a black cop trying to navigate the very corrupt and even more racist LAPD and then it was revealed that he had a pregnant wife: I FEARED SHE AND THE BABY WOULD BE KILLED SOMEHOW. These fears truly crystallized when I started focusing on her wig, which is definitely the absolute worst wig on this show - the seamwork, texture, and curls are all a travesty. I knew that HBO would not be throwing wig bucks at a character that was not long for this series. BUT TWIST! Not only did she and baby live (halleluj!) but after quitting the LAPD and working for Perry, they somehow afforded a sweet new pad! I still don’t know how finances work on this show but fine! Now please get her a better wig for season 2!
LINDA MASON
Tumblr media
First only heard as an angry voice on a phone, Perry’s ex-wife Linda, as played by the incomparable Gretchen Mol finally surfaced somewhere in the middle of this series. AND WON ALL THE WIG AWARDS. Did Gretchen Mol get to use her own hair person? Or her own hair? These mysteries still linger, as do many other mysteries in this series, but regardless: THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME ONE LADY WITH GOOD HAIR. Sadly, she was the only one. We hardly knew ye!
BIRDIE McKEEGAN
Tumblr media
Straight up: I LOVE LILY TAYLOR and think she can do no wrong. I was thrilled that she was in this show, even if she plays a total Mommie Dearest monster. Her wig is totally serviceable? But since we’re talking about Lily Taylor, she probably deserved better.
SISTER ALICE McKEEGAN
Tumblr media
Yes, I left the craziest wig for last. As Lily Taylor’s daughter/evangelical lunatic/sexual assault survivor/baby resurrector/definite witch, Tatiana Maslany brought the CRAZY to this show and her wig brought it too. And no - I still haven’t watched Orphan Black and I’m fine, thanks.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THIS DAMN WIG. Inspired somewhere between Elsa Lancaster’s Bride of Frankenstein, Jean Harlow, and every Halloween fright wig cut into a bob, this wig is a rumpled, crumpled MESS.
Tumblr media
I think I speak for us all when I say to this wig: OH HELL NO.
Tumblr media
This trio of wigs is truly the three horsemen of the apocalypse. GET IT TOGETHER, HBO’S WIG BUDGET DEPARTMENT!!!
Tumblr media
The real twist at the end (SPOILER!) is when Sister Alice books it out of her own baby resurrection only to resurface as a brunette, working at a diner. I did think it was hilarious that character named Alice would end up working in a diner - how many tv shows are you trying to reboot, HBO?
Tumblr media
IF ONLY.
Tumblr media
Anyway, this wig is just as bad as Alice’s blonde wig! The little wispy spit curls are 100% inspired by Betty Boop and the whole thing looks about as realistic as Betty Boop as well. Also: Alice gave no further information on dead or living baby wherabouts, leaving a huge gaping mystery at the end of this show which my mom found REALLY REALLY annoying but I guess the point is: this bitch is probably a witch. OK?
VERDICT: DOESN’T WURQ

Just saying I'm watching Resident Evil Apocalypse right now just saying. It came in a few minutes again, and the wall scene is now on.
Honestly despite my negative outlook on the movie. Again there were things I liked which I'll talk about in this. I just wanted to put this movie on because I was in the mood.
Spoilers in case about things I liked and didn't like.
What I did like.
1: I honestly like the I guess you could say attention to detail with some video game elements. Such as the costumes like the U.B.C.S., the S.T.A.R.S. members, Nemesis himself, and other things that I found cool.
2: While this isn't a major thing but I liked the characterization of Carlos which I felt respected the source material. Such as him literally saying, "Fuck orders" and jumping out of a helicopter to save one person despite they are infected.
Besides I did think Oded Fehr did a pretty nice job with the character. Even though it's a older version of the character because Oded was 34 when this movie was released. But seriously I liked him. He was a character I liked that respected the source material. Unless anyone else has a different opinion which I don't mind hearing.
3: Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine. I'll be honest I think it's just me thinking she seems more serious and I guess harsh than the game version at times. But I liked the casting and was fine with her.
4: Considering the Lickers part is on, I liked the Licker from the first movie, I like them in here. Including the CGI on them looks way better than the last film.
5: Nemesis despite he doesn't show up a lot, I pretty much dug him. Especially him having a machine gun works well.
6: Like I said before L.J. is funny. Now the infamous GTA moment just passed by, he literally said 10 points.
7: Guess I'll say the action was nice too, they are cool.
What I didn't like.
1: Despite elements from the video games are always nice. Especially those costumes. I wonder why do all the S.T.A.R.S. members basically wear Chris's outfit. I guess maybe budget reasons but I just see it as lazy.
I know in the games they are different colored vests. Honestly I'm being nitpicky. Besides when making the 2nd thing I didn't like, I think I can let this nitpick pass because I can handle some liberties being taken.
2. Alice......I know many people have already talked about this. I've talked about how having Alice as a main character was basically a mistake for this film franchise. I mean I wouldn't mind her existing.
But again like many people have complained while the game characters aren't ignored. She takes away the spotlight from the other characters we wanna see. Such as Jill and Carlos. I will admit she's got a nice look in this like the last film.
I mean I liked the first film actually, I was impressed by it. Really the 2nd film should of been longer, written better, more cohesive, stuff I've said before. Also more development too. Especially I don't mind Milla Jovovich as an actress. Stupid idea I wouldn't of mind her as Jill ether if that had happened.
3: Considering the Nemesis and S.T.A.R.S. part is on, I can talk about Nemesis again. While I said I liked him.
So the film version of Nemesis is more of a tragic villain than just a B.O.W. sent in to kill the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members.
I'll admit while I was excited by the first movies ending of Matt mutating and they mention the Nemesis program. To be honest I sound stupid thinking back to Birkin considering the huge mutated arm was on Birkin's right arm.
Back to the point, considering the final battle it makes sense with the decision. I feel just making Nemesis this tragic villain isn't necessary. Because he works just fine as a monstrous force hell bent on killing the S.T.A.R.S. members.
Especially I didn't mind Matt as a character too. Really if we had to change some of these decisions, we'd have to rewrite some things for the first film as well.
Besides I don't seem to like for the supposed main villain. Meh he got what he deserved anyway. Even if I feel the, "Killing me won't set things right" seems unnecessary and Alice could of said, "Do you think I give a fuck?" But yes I know the context of that scene anyway.
Or honestly would of preferred if Nemesis crushed his head or something.
Okay off topic I just noticed the R.P.D. van with the K9 unit cages, I like the foreshadowing but I wonder if I forgot that scene.
4: Just a nitpick, the Nicholai Ginovaeff character. Was the point of him sounding Russian just a reference to Nikolai Zinoviev. Which turns out on the RE wiki there is a comparison.
But again was the point of him being Russian just as a easter egg to Nikolai? Despite Nikolai in Resident Evil 3 is a secondary antagonist of that game basically.
Besides I know the actor is American(edit after checking my tv and googled him up he's Canadian) just seriously I'm nitpicking. It's probably best or.....maybe him and Nemesis being the antagonist in this movie could work. But besides it would of been out of nowhere if he was betraying people.
Yet seriously it's weird I'm rambling about this. It just feels like a weird easter egg. I do love how he called a Ceberus dog bitch which came on some minutes ago.
But seriously this is all just me rambling and nitpicking this isn't a reason.
What I'm about to say is a stupid thing to say about a film. But I saved it towards the end.
This film feels like I guess some sort of a fan film. Which sounds stupid, or just the fact Paul W.S. Anderson wrote this while he didn't direct it. It's a short movie where the story for this film franchise should of been handled better.
Amazingly I've been writing this throughout the movie.
Also another nitpick why the hell do the Umbrella's soldiers helmets look like motorcycle helmets? Unless that's an actual thing. It just seems weird.
I'll be honest, been thinking of wanting to check out Extinction as well. Despite my first viewing of this movie I was so disappointed that I didn't wanna see the rest. I've seen some of the third and whatever else. I'm just interested in the this film and maybe will watch Afterlife after a long time, and Retribution.
Now I remember what I wanted to say last. I agree with someone on Twitter. I'm really bothered by how just the difference in tone to the first movie is. As if it doesn't translate well or it's just I liked how the first was building up on that horror aspect, and other things. It was saving things such as the Licker and other stuff. This film despite some moments is like fuck that.
Alright other little things, sorry that I'm rambling more. In a way I'm not big on the whole Nemesis fighting Alice in hand to hand combat. Considering how strong Nemesis but whatever. I mean the fight looks alright.
Now I'm at the part where Alice realizes Nemesis is Matt.
Also I'm surprised Angie(the daughter in the film) didn't fucking despise Alice or said shit like, "I'll never forgive you" because Alice refusing to fight Nemesis read to Dr. Ashford getting shot.
But considering the circumstances of the situation, she would of understandable and just what I said sounds like it would of made Angie sound dickish. Meh she still likes Alice anyway after Alice literally uses herself as a shield against like some sort of spike m.
I'm basically at the Nemesis betrayal scene, holy shit I just laughed at the part of L.J. literally punching Major Tom Cain in the face.
I've rambled on too long. I just wanted to talk about this.

Which Work Am I A Bigger Fan Of?  I Cannot Choose!
I have two works that I really like, and they are Transformers and Sonic The Hedgehog.  Both enhanced my creativity, and I grew up with Transformers (the live-action films, anyway; but I got into G1 when I got into the 1980′s); they have extraterrestrials that are allies or enemies with humans (and they have anti-heroes as well (I’m looking at you, Armada Starscream and Shadow The Hedgehog)); and they have English and Japanese versions of their own media (the original Unicron Trilogy and Sonic X are all anime series in which the Japanese versions with English subtitles are better than the English dubs).  I have been fans of both works for a couple years (I saw Transformers first, and then Sonic The Hedgehog).
However, I am debating whether I like one more than the other; I believe I am, but I am going to differentiate between these two works to see for myself.  Here it goes; I am going to start with Transformers, first.
The first Transformers work I saw was the first live-action film directed by Michael Bay.  It looked very realistic, and the graphics were nice.  I saw two more live-action films, and they were okay, but the third film went downhill, especially since they killed off some of my favorite characters from there (especially Ironhide; I really liked that black truck, and Sentinel killed him).  I don’t remember when I saw the 1986 film, but it is one of these factors that got me into the 1980′s (among The Transformers, in which that animated film was based on).  I started to prefer G1 over Bayformers since their styles looked fantastic, and it is also how I got a little into Mecha anime (Golion/Dairugger/Voltron got me even more into Japanese anime).
I then looked to see if there are any other Mecha shows I would watch, and I remembered fans talking about Transformers Armada, and I searched via Anime News Network; when I saw that Ironhide was in there, as well as Starscream, I got the urge to watch it.  I saw all 52 episodes of the show (called Micron Legend) with English subtitles, and I was hooked into it.  Micron Legend became even more of my favorite Transformers work than even G1 because of many G1 callbacks, certain soundtracks that sounded 1980′s, and many complex characters from both sides.  I then saw another show, in which it is called Energon (actually, it was Superlink), and I got as much hooked as I did with the other show, despite some flaws such as not giving certain characters enough screen time.  I was upset when the characters from Micron Legend got killed off (especially Ironhide/Demolishor), but was amazed at some new characters, especially those that were based off of their G1 counterparts, such as Inferno, Lazerwave (homage to G1 Shockwave), Wheeljack, Springer, and Omega Supreme.  I saw Galaxy Force (original version of Cybertron) once, and lost interest, despite some interesting characters such as Soundwave and Chromia (Thunderblast).  Similarly, Headmasters made me lose interest, since some of the characters were really bland, and they were lacking some character development in some of the Transformers (and even humans).
Since the first Bayformers film was the one I liked a lot, I didn’t want to watch anymore live-action films until 2018, in which the Bumblebee film debuted.  I was skeptical at first, until I got the chance to saw it; it was fantastic; the film was set in 1987, and it had many themes and styles of the 1980′s, and it stayed true to the G1 continuity (besides Micron Legend, Superlink, and Galaxy Force).  And the villains were phenomenal, especially Shatter (ROTF Alice didn’t give me enough excitement for a believably evil Decepticon who is female (or at least feminine), she was too bland, in my opinion).  And don’t forget the music, especially when Stan Bush’s song appeared in one scene where Bumblebee was encouraging his human friend, Charlie Watson, to dive off a cliff (which is safe, and has water).
Now let’s go with Sonic The Hedgehog.  I have noticed some people playing the games, and I never got the hold of it until I noticed that there was an anime show based on the games (especially the Adventure series), and I decided to give it a watch.  The anime was Sonic X, and it was in Japanese with English subtitles.  I was blown away because of Sonic’s tendency to break the fourth wall and throw in English here and there, the graphics which looked similar to Micron Legend in many angles, one original character with his many racing supercars (Sam Speed), contains Mecha (usually by Dr. Eggman), the soundtrack, and, of course, Shadow The Hedgehog (the first time I understood that character was in this show).  Also, the anime had many callbacks from the previous games (1991-2003; 2003 was when Sonic X was first broadcasted); and the Metarex saga gave me a feel from the part where Unicron debuted in Micron Legend.
One of my cousins have many different Sonic games, since he is a huge fan of them.  He had spin-off games as well; one of them was Shadow’s own game.  The first time I took interest was when I heard some fans talk about him using guns; at first, I thought it was a joke, until I saw for myself.  Many die-hard Sonic fans don’t like the 2005 game, but I certainly liked it, especially after I saw Sonic X; it was dark and edgy, yes, but it also gave the main character more depth and characterization, he can use firearms if he chooses to, and drives vehicles such as motorcycles and cars; I even have the option to play it in English or Japanese (of course with English subtitles for both).
I also did some reviews for three Sonic TV shows during the 1990′s.  Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog came to mind, especially this one episode, Zoobotnik, in which it featured a villainess, Katella The Huntress, who is the most underrated Sonic character of all time.  I found her costume appealing (including the circlet she wears on her forehead), and I found it amusing to see her with Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (I believe this is the only time I will ship Eggman with anyone else; besides Sera/Sara from the OVA, of course).  The English shows were not as appealing, but at least I got some insight after watching a few episodes.
I think I like both works because they are related in many ways, even though the Transformers originated in the 1980′s, and Sonic The Hedgehog originated in the 1990′s, among many other differences.  I really like extraterrestrial characters, but I also like Mecha robots (especially sentient robots).  Maybe I like Transformers even more than Sonic The Hedgehog.
Another thing these two have in common is their voice actors, who appeared in both works; seiyuu are more prominent.  Here is a list of English voice actors first, and then I will go with the Japanese voices:
English
- Charlie Adler (Silverbolt in The Transformers (1984-1987), and Starscream in the live-action films (2007-2011); Snively in Sonic SatAM)
- Jim Cummings (Afterburner, Rippersnapper, and a Sharkticon in The Transformers (1984-1987); Dr. Robotnik in Sonic SatAM)

Like I said, Sonic and Transformers have a lot in common, but they are unique in their own ways.  Maybe I like Transformers the most because it was from the 1980′s (which, by the way, is my favorite decade).  I wasn’t too much of a 1990′s fan, but I did like Sonic, which originated in the 1990′s.  So, I suppose Transformers is the winner, and Sonic The Hedgehog is in second place.
Well, that is all I will be saying for now.  I will be posting more soon, but I have other things to do, as well.  Stay tuned for more posts.

Why did you chose them for those roles?
Okay okay, this is gonna be a long one... (I spent over an hour on this post wtf)
Remus - I chose @brain-stormer because I think they just have the perfect mix of sarcasm, mischief and general pissed-off-ness that Remus has. Also the small states of gay panic is everything I live for. Jay just gives Remus the perfect expressions and also has the perfect small amound of sass that you need for Remus. I just went to all his posts again and this is canon Remus, the lines the acting just everything so yeah xD
James - I mean I think I could technically have cast @asktheboywholived for basically everyone of the characters but James is extra perfect. I love the emotional side we get to see of James as well as his overall dorkiness. His friends are everything for him and I love how TT interprets James pining for Lily, as well as how they interact with each other when they are a couple. And James as a father is just perfect. I love it.
Sirius - @siriussly-serious I mean I don’t think I don’t have to give you much of an explanation here but I will anyway. So I love Jays facial expressions more than anything and when he plays Sirius he takes it to a whole new level. I love how he takes Sirius, who is a very broken but still confident and kinda cocky character and makes him completely his own, portraying him perfectly. For me he is basically canon Sirius.
Peter - I just have a lot of headcanons about him and like to play him, so yeah xD
Lily - So I have chosen two rpers here who portray Lily pretty differently. First of all @masksofmickey I love how she portrays Lily as this very confident girl who trust her friend a 100% and how seriously pissed off she is by James before they get together and how utterly in love she is with he actually gets to know her. But Lily is also a kind of dorky person herself sometimes and also brings lightness to their relationship. As for @asklilyevanss I got the chance to interact with her as James last week and was shook. She plays Lily a lot calmer, but still confident. She’s done with James bullshit but honestly just loves him so much at the same time.
Snape - @sirussly uses this very minimalistic facial expressions for Snape that make him absolutely perfect. Severus really hates the Marauders and you can just see the hate written on his face. I’m mostly referring to the “Cut to the quick”-thread. Nothing will make Severus raise his voice yet still you will listen to him when he speaks. And even though we have gifs without sound here you can perfectly see that on his face. It’s just stunning.
Marlene - Again two rpers. So we have @slytherinstation she didn’t really bring her online yet (which is why I can’t really concentrate on her characterization yet), only her character test but honestly it was already so gay I just needed to put her in here. As for @askwhathasthiscometo I’m mostly referring to the “(Un)requited” thread, which is one of my all time favorites. I love how she portrays Marlene as this character who goes from being in denial about herself being gay to embracing it and living for her wonderful girlfriend. I just live for a ll the sass. And her acting in threads like “Best served cold” is just stunning.
Dorcas - So for @egdramaqueen it’s mostly the interaction with Bux that gives me the perfect Dorcas vibes, but also in the “Till the end” thread with Ara. I just really love her characterization of Dorcas a lot. I can’t even really describe what exactly it is, it’s just my favorite characterization of Dorcas that I have seen. She is confident and kinda doesn’t deal with Marlenes bullshit for too long and adresses the problems (except when it comes to admiting their gayness). I love how she interacts with other characters as well.
Mary - Okay so we (or at least I) know pretty much nothing about Mary as a character so there are pretty different characterizations of her in this community. I really liked the idea we got of Mary in The snowball effect how she would give everything for her friend even if that meant that she wouldn’t really get what she wants. She just wants him to be happy and @arabella-prongs portrayed this perfectly. As for @nerdydancingravenclaw I loved how Lucy interacted as Mary the night she came online. Like Mary who tries to hide the fact that she is in fact hurt by what Mulciber did to her. As well as her interaction with Lily that was just amazing.
Frank - We mostly get to see @remus-lupin-is-my-type as Frank in the “Double date” thread. I just love the shy and kinda dorky portrayal which is given for Frank because that’s exactly how I imagine him to be, very much like his son turns out to be later. He’s a true gentleman but always a bit overwhelmed with the situation. I think Nicki does a perfect job with acting that out.
Alice - I just really really love how @sunshineandrainyflowers portrays Alice. She is pretty shy but knows what she wants. She really loves Frank but doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable so she kinda just let’s it evolve slowly. She also really cares about her friends.
Regulus - What I remember most of Arin as Regulus is how they portray him as this character that just feels misunderstood by everyone. He cares about his family a lot and doesn’t want it to fall it apart, he doesn’t want Sirius to provoke their mother as much but realizes he can’t change him and gets frustrated. But it still breaks him when Sirius is finally burned of the family tree. Similar as Jess does it with Snape Arin has a very minimalistic way of using facial expression which fits Regulus character as he feels like he can show his feelings to absolutely no one.
Barty Crouch Jr - I chose @marvelousmisterscamander because their portrayal of Azkaban Barty gave me absolute chills and perfectly shows the level of insanity that this character is in.
Bellatrix - The queen has arrived. We haven’t seen that much of @azkabqn as Bella yet but everything I’ve seen convinced me 100%. I mean only her pictures have me shook for forever. Also I just really would love to work wit Lydia. But Bellatrix was one of the harder characters to decide and after Lydia there was a huge list of phenomenal rpers I could have chosen. Honestly how does anyone manage to play this maniac so perfectly.
Narcissa - I think that Clara perfectly captures the cold and warm sides of Narcissa. Narcissa loves her family more than anything but if someone decides to go to far and gets burned off the tapestry she will get over it. Even if that person happens to be her sister. She will only mention them very briefly from then on with a cold face that doesn’t show the love she once had for that person. @jellyfishnshakespeare does an amazing job at acting this out.
.... Okay did I just spent over an hour typing this out and thinking about it? Yes... yes I did. Wow good way to beat time then. I have a lot of feelings about the marauders era characters if no one noticed...
A cookie for every lunatic that read this whole thing, lol. I’m sorry it got that long.
