Hi, Navi! May I request some headcanons for Felix Chamberlain from I have become the heroâs rival with a transmigrator!reader who just wants her favs to be happy and to have a peaceful life too, but somehow gets the magicianâs attention anyway? It would be interesting if one of the original male leads had interest in the transmigrator!reader, though itâs all up to you! :)
Felix Chamberlain X Transmigrator! Reader HCs
âź You were ECSTATIC to be a transmigrator and that to your special manhwa!! You were definitely gonna help Irene, Claudia and Felix and you really wanted to see Irene and Felix's love bloom in front of your eyes and luckily you were a middle-class person and you applied to be Claudia's playmate or something...
âź You quickly got close with her and Irene and you three were the ICONIC trio!! and you quickly became friends with Felix as well, you'd help Claudia escape the male leads as much as you could by remembering the manhwa!
âź And you slowly started developing feelings, before it was for him like a fictional character, but now for real....But you were afraid that after this finished, you'd be thrown back into your real world, so you didn't act on your feelings...
âź You became very close with them and eventually told them about you being from another world, Irene was VERY happy to learn someone was from her world, and you couldn't bother to explain to her how she was also a part of the manhwa, so you went along with it!
âź Also Irene was mean to end up with Felix, right? Yeah, it's not like the manhwas you read where you might end up with the character when their love interest is RIGHT THERE! But he seemingly never got close with Irene in a romantic path and neither did Irene...and this confused you...
âź Felix would love to bond with you by asking you how you used to live, what you used to eat, where you lived, what you looked like...and whom you dated, yes he's jealous of them...don't worry...
âź And soon you confessed and you started dating, it was such a big thing for Irene and Claudia who had been shipping you two since day 1 and Lerase himself was quite happy as he seemed to have taken a liking to you as well...
âź He would love to hear stories about how you lived, how things are different in your world and whom you hated and loved and liked or some random stories from childhood...He wanted to know what you are like before you came into his arms in this world.
âź He would have a portrait of you painted on what you looked like before, and he gets a smaller copy on a page and he sleeps with the smaller portrait beside his bed! He can not get over the fact you looked so cute!
âź Irene and you would often reminisce on how life was before you came here and how much you miss things from back then, but you both are so utterly grateful to be here and be in love with the Chamberlains...Yes, Irene liked Claudia...
âź Oh btw, Benjamin took a weird liking for you and Lerase apparently didn't like that....and crushed his skull in his bare hands, of-course you didn't see him crush his skull, but you were there during the aftermath and god in your eyes does Felix look hot covered in blood...
âź Oh you got Irene and Felix and told them how in the original story, Irene and Felix were meant to be together and how they both....yeah...of-course those two looked a bit grossed out and a felt a bit weird, because first, they don't like each other, they like Claudia and you respectively and they can't honestly see themselves together, no matter what you say or do...and you honestly find it funny and bring it to make the two cringe up and look grossed out...
âź Claudia loves to hear about the pretty dresses and what women can do and can't do in the modern world and how much people wanted her and Irene to get together and sh's happy to hear that
âź In all honesty, it's a adventure everyday with the trio and you being with them! Double dates, double couples and quadrouple trouble~

Russian State Library
The biggest library in Russia and one of the biggest in the world. It was designed in late 1920s, soon after the birth of the new Soviet state, and fully finished in the 1950s. In includes 4 buildings and one 19-floor book repository. There are several reading halls, a cafe, and a whole bunch of book-filled nooks and crannies.
I'm writing this post sitting in the library's biggest reading hall - Reading Hall No. 3. It was opened in 1957 and still retains most of the original furniture and design (only there are now individual power sockets in every desk). Most of the tables are occupied by people with books and laptops. It's very quiet.
The book depository is a huge building that rises high above everything else in this historical area. It had 10 floors originally, each 5m high, but later it was divided into 19 smaller floors. We visited one of the floors. I was impressed to see that the windows are made out of Falconnier glass blocks (made specially for the library in Gus Khrustalny).
There are two automated delivery systems in the library: one delivers readers' orders into the depository (pneumatic tubes) and the other delivers books back to the reader (monorail). We had a chance to see both of them in action, very impressive! They also kept a bit of the old book delivery system that worked from 1953 until 2015. I saw it on pictures before, and it was great to see the granny in real life. :) There are a lot of "grannies" in the library, from the green lamps to rotary phones to wall clocks. The pneumatic tube system has been in place since 1975. People whose job is to preserve books are very likely to preserve everything else.
I loved this anecdote. In one of the reading halls, there's a big painting of Lenin (pictured below). Apparently it was put in place in mid-1950s to cover the bas-relief that was there originally. On the bas-relief there are Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin. After Stalin's death in 1953 and debunking the cult of personality, images of him were quickly removed from everywhere. The library, being true preservers of history, kept theirs but covered it up. It just shows what kind of people librarians are. :)
Although the library is working on running a full digital catalogue of all their 48 million items, if you want access to older editions you'll probably need to use the old paper card catalogue. The room gave me major nostalgy - I remember using this kind of catalogue in my local library when I was a kid. The sound of pulling out a narrow box, then the little built-in table, going through the cards one by one, writing down what you need on library cards. It was a whole process! Of course, the local library's catalogue was WAY smaller.
A few more shots of interiors. Although the building itself was designed in 1920s (during the era of avantgarde and art deco), the interiors were mostly done in 1950s when the main design style was neo classicism.
I enjoyed this tour immensely, so much so that I had to go back and get a library card so I can see more of it, sit in every reading hall and drink a cup of tea in the marble hall cafeteria. Also, the idea of 48 million books at the tip of my fingers makes me giddy. Thank you to my followers for the monetary support and making this real for me: K. T., H. W., T. B., m., @depetium, @transarkadydzyubin, S. R.

Tether Me - Chapter 1
Pairing(s): Geto/Gojo/Reader
Summary: âJesus!â You shrieked and jumped with all the elegance of a newborn fawn, spinning on your heel to find a head of blindingly white hair and pearly canines equally as eye-burning greeting you through a wide grin. Though you couldnât see the man's eyes behind those curiously round shades of his, you could picture how his cheeks crinkled his hidden hues at the corners.
If any of the Greek or Roman gods were real, hed outshine every one of them without breaking a sweat.Â
âNot quite,â the unfairly gorgeous stranger replied with a snicker from where he leaned against the fence, âbut Iâm flattered.â CW: No y/n | polyamory | slow burn | slice of life | alt au - no curses | fluff | light angst | eventual smut | forgive me, there's internal monologues | I like using big words... | Gojo & Geto are whipped for you | emotionally constipated reader | (most of the tags have been condensed, you can find the full list on my ao3 here)

Seeing your newâŚhome in the unforgiving glare of daytime made you realize that the realtor spent more time photoshopping the box of danger to make it appear appealing than actually selling it. Gave it to the first poor buyer that bit the bait and dashed off.
Said poor buyer was you. Apparently.
A rickety bamboo fence, chipped and scratched by god knows what, wrapped loosely around your property, the pathetic poles clinging to life by threads about as strong as spider silk. Quite the sad barrier. Honestly, you had no idea how it managed to remain upright this long at all.Â
The description on the site you found it on was very, very vague with anything regarding the building. Even with your prodding, the most you generally got was âwell, nobody died in it, and itâs still standing.â
Good enough for you, clearly, considering you slapped the Sold! sign on the damn listing yourself maybe 30 minutes and a glass of wine (or three) after finding the soggy, depressing shack.
Granny was right. This thing was a damn mess. It should have been condemned ages ago.
You couldnât decide if it was bigger or smaller than you expected. Somewhat disproportionate was the best way you could put it. The terrain surrounding it was much more expansive than the photos showed, the boundaries only sort of marked out by the aforementioned sad barrier. It was considerably isolated, which you werenât really complaining about, but you noted way too late that taking care of all that overgrown grass was going to be a nightmare on your back. Arms, too. Every part of your body, honestly.
The building itself had certainly seen better days, such as the day it was built, and perhaps the day after, if you were being generous. The agent was very shifty about exact details, but in his defense, this place was basically in the Bumfuck Middle of Nowhere, Japan, in likely one of the smallest countryside villages there was in the whole country.
You were also substantially intoxicated and ready to put down your life savings on anything.
Thankfully, you didnât have to go that far, but you truly underestimated the scope of this âprojectâ. The entire plot needed a fresh splash of paint at minimum. Ideally, you needed to shear the lawn of all those super pretty weeds that you were very tempted to just leave as is because they were so pretty, mhm, would be an absolute shame to get rid of them.
Youâd need to clear out the stone path leading from the fence gate to your front door that you quite literally stumbled over last night. Or just toss the stones altogether, because fuck those things and whoever put them there.
The outer walls needed a good scrubbing, and another, and one more for good measure. Quite a few shingles on the roof showed signs of being ready to split your skull open with only a wayward breeze needed to push them off the edge. The hinges creaked horribly on every part of the building, enough so that you were certain the entire village wouldâve been awoken by you tripping over yourself to get into the house had you not been a decent 10 or so minute walk from the closest cottage.
And all of this was just what was outside.Â
That fence, ugly little shit that it was, was either going to become your worst nightmare, or a begrudging friend.Â
You noted with mild interest that your house resembled western abodes more than Japanese ones.
Maybe if you kept the place rundown, people wouldnât think to stop by your place unannounced. Ah, what a delight that would be. If you were lucky, nobody knew the property had been sold yet. If you were extra lucky, you could get your shopping done (plus whatever other errands you couldnât do from home) by keeping your head down, and none would be the wiser to your existence.
Aside from Granny, of course. Kinda hard to hide from that woman now that sheâd given you food off her own back. You needed to do something in return, but you set that on the back burner for now.
The interior required basically everything to be fixed up, that was non-negotiable. You refused to sleep on crusty wood floors and old tatami that had long since been glued to the surface beneath with gods know what. At the very least, you needed to somehow clean the floor. Preferably, mend the walls, plug any holes, get the pipes functioning if they werenât already, and a whole other fuckinâ list of soul crushing deeds that needed completion.
Furniture, while questionably not a necessity for survival, was definitely a need for you. If only so you had something to sleep on other than the basically flat, nylon bag laid out in the corner of the room you gracelessly snored within.
But how?
You planted your hands on your hips and exhaled through your nose. âI wonder if Amazon ships to this placeâŚâ
A pipe dream, certainly; but, gods, would it make your life so much easier.
You could try to build your own furniture, but you trusted running with scissors more than you trusted your own potential handiwork. Which meant repairing the house itself on your own was likely a very bad idea.
âAh, fuck,â you hissed as you realized the other shit youâd need to do aside from creating an actual proper space to live. âIâll have to learn how to sew and garden and fucking carpent and everythingâŚâ
You groaned as you pictured every task that awaited you, and subsequently buried your face in your hands. Maybe you should have just torn the whole fucking thing down, bought a plastic shed from the nearest city, dragged it over, set it up, and called it home sweet home. You didnât need that much space anyway, right?
âNo, canât regret this now, too late to regret this, you chose this,â your voice was muffled and grit out through clenched teeth. âMade your bed, now sleep in it, idiot.â
âYeah, kinda dumb choice, if you ask me.â
An unexpected voice originated from behind you, startling the living daylights out of you and shooting your heart straight out of your body.Â
âJesus!â You shrieked and jumped with all the elegance of a newborn fawn, spinning on your heel to find a head of blindingly white hair and pearly canines equally as eye-burning greeting you via a wide grin. Though you couldnât see the man's eyes behind those curiously round shades of his, you could picture how his cheeks crinkled his hidden hues at the corners.
If any of the Greek or Roman gods were real, heâd outshine every one of them without breaking a sweat.Â
The warming late-spring wind grazed through the fluffy locks of his hair like the delicate touch of a loverâs hands, weaving through the fine strands and carrying his scent to you.
Mixed with the heat of the approaching humid season, you caught faint hints of sweetness, with an underlying minty tone and something you couldn't name. He was too far away for you to pinpoint the exact fragrance, but you had no intention of just skipping right over and shoving your nose against the junction of his neck to get a better whiff.
Or maybe his chest? The way he was slouching made it difficult to gauge his height, but you had a feeling he was a great deal taller than you, and the stout slope you stood on would do you virtually no favors.
The shiver that went up your spine at the thought was promptly ignored.
âNot quite,â the unfairly gorgeous stranger replied with a snicker from where he leaned against the fence, arms slotted between the bamboo sticks. How it held him up without crumbling into dust was a miracle in itself. âBut Iâm flattered.â
Your pulse pounded in your ears as you placed your hand against your chest, trying to will the wretched thing to calm down. Handling adrenaline was not your forte, much less from a scare like this. With your eyes narrowed, and only partially because of the accursed brilliance that was coming summer, you glared at the man. He was far too relaxed and cocky for your liking, still sporting that goofy grin that had you feeling things you didnât want to address now.
Or ever.
âWho are you?â You queried.
âI should be asking you that, pretty girl.â
Your nose wrinkled incredulously. âPretty girl?â
He chose to overlook your objection, instead nodding towards your house. âNever thought Iâd get to witness this shithole get bought by anyone, let alone someone like you. Thought itâd get torn down sooner than have a hundred yen tossed towards it.â
Your eyes rolled. Hard. He wasnât wrong, it was a shithole, but now it was your shithole. The less reminders about its miserable state of existence you had, the better. âGee, thanks.â
âNo problem.â
Completely against your will, you snorted. He was going to be a wonderful source of entertainment, or he was going to be a thorn in your side, just like the sickly sticks under his arms. The jury was still out on it.
You stared at one another for a few seconds that dragged on too long before you raised a brow. âWeeeellâŚ?â You drew out the word.
His head cocked to the side. âWell?â
âYour name. You never told me who you are.â You knew it was polite to introduce yourself first, but fuck that, he scared the hell out of you. The responsibility was on him.
âOh, right,â he straightened up, then bent forward with one hand to his chest and the other outstretched sideways in an extravagant bow. âGojo Satoru, the very one and only. What about you, sweetheart?â
Pet names aside, there was a debate in your mind, an argument between whether you should give the admittedly attractive stranger your real name, or create one on the spot. You had done the latter in your later months of running all over your home country like a chicken without a head under the stupid belief that it'd further separate you from the anxieties clinging to your shins.Â
You were paranoid. That was easy enough to decipher.
Your conscience had spawned this nerve wracking idea that those you ghosted â from scorned lovers who scarcely got further than kissing you, to the jobs and employers you abandoned suddenly â were after you.Â
It left you constantly scanning your 6 from over your shoulder with the fear that theyâd come chasing you down, eager to dig their claws into your paper-kite flesh and permanently force you down. You could visualize them tearing through your wings, winding layers of rope around your throat and knotting the dangling strings so tightly that not even the sharpest blade could break through the binds, much less let you breathe. So, you frequently lied about your identity as much as you could.
You inhaled slowly through your teeth, not enough to whistle, but enough to ground you. You were on the complete other side of the world, far away from those who would care to snarl and bare their fangs at your heels as they ran faster than you could â if there were any who desired to at all. You were somewhere new, somewhere unfamiliar, a place where nobody knew you, or could possibly know you by any means.
You told not a soul about where youâd gone. You never did. Like ash in the wind, you disappeared faster than anyone could blink, any memory of smoldering embers long forgotten.
MaybeâŚmaybe you were safe to at least slip forth some truth about yourself.
Like most things you did nowadays, you told him your real name on a whim, and hoped it wouldnât come back to bite you in the ass.
He hummed as he repeated it to you, as if testing it on his tongue, dipping in for a small taste. Then, that stunning grin returned, and your heart fluttered behind your ribs.
You stubbornly stamped your heel down onto it. You didnât know why it decided to start acting up, but you were not going to entertain it.
âPretty name for a pretty girl,â he cooed. âWhat brought you here of all places? So rich youâre bored? Fell for a scam? One of those girly things?â
You scoffed.
âOr maybe youâre running from something.â
The blood in your veins froze over in an instant, your body going rigid as you stared at him. HeâŚhe couldnât have known, right? The way he stated it, rather than asked â like he knew â had you struggling to swallow, to so much as twitch your fingers. There was no way. Youâ you were nobody, a blank slate, an outsiderâ
His head cocked to the side playfully, and the spell he had cast on you withered away as quickly as it came.
Finally able to breathe again, you vented out the air you unknowingly held and turned your face slightly away, hoping he didnât catch your slip-up. âOne of those girly things,â you settled, to which he nodded eagerly, as if you just confirmed the existence of a theory of his that âgirly thingsâ were real.
Not that he was wholly wrong, technically, as you did have âone of those girly thingsâ urges from time to time. The desire to cut or dye your hair, pick up a new name, rearrange your room, or hop on a plane to the furthest fucking location you could imagine.
âWhyâd you choose thisâŚthing then?â Gojo jerked his chin towards the shabby hut.
âIt was cheap,â you answered simply.Â
He bobbed his head in acknowledgement. âWhere are you staying?â
Your eyelashes fluttered as you blinked at him, your brow knitting. â...Here?â
â...Here.â
âHere.â
There was a brief pause, then he burst into laughter, his arms hugging his stomach. âOh, god,â he wheezed. Personally, you couldnât find what was so funny about the situation. âYou serious?â
âWhy wouldnât I be?â
His finger slipped under the right lens of his glasses, presumably to wipe a tear away as he worked on calming himself down. âThatâs the dumbest thing Iâve ever heard.â
Fire flared in your veins as opposed to ice this time. âHey!â
âI mean, seriously, who in their right mind would stay inside that thing?â
Your lip curled over your teeth in a snarl. âOiââ
He bulldozed right along, completely ignoring you. âThereâs gotta be, like, ghosts in there. Or a shit ton of spiders. Lots of spiders, actually.â
That got your attention. A shudder shot up your back and you squealed in fright, shaking off your hands to rid yourself of the phantom feeling of creepy crawlies on your skin. âSpiders?â
The milky-headed male nodded staidly. âTons. And, yâknow, the other obvious health hazards. I bet thereâs asbestos in those walls.â
You opened your mouth to argue that your house had only been abandoned for 20 years, and that asbestos had been cut out of usage some 40 odd years ago, until you remembered that 1) asbestos didnât immediately go out of use when the dangers were revealed, and 2) you house was abandoned 20 years ago, not built 20 years ago. Who knows how old it actually was?Â
Given its appearanceâŚ
He mustâve seen the panic on your face, because he gave you a piercing smile, an expression you very swiftly understood was one of scheming. âYou should come stay with me.â
The world halted around you for the seconds it took your mind to process what he said. â...Hah?â
âI said, you should come stay with me,â Satoru shrugged nonchalantly. âI have spare guest rooms.â
âIâ youâ stay withâ what?âÂ
The grimace he gave your house could only be described as âexecratingâ. âI mean, come on, youâre not really thinking of staying there, are you? Youâll be sending yourself to an early grave like that, youâre too cute to die so soon. Just come stay at my place.â
Was he a murderer?
Your brain finally caught up with a click and you scowled. âOh, yeah, thatâs super safe,â you responded sardonically. âNew girl in a new town full of total strangers with who-knows-what motives, lemme just go stay with the first guy that invites me to his home.â
âCome onnnn, you can trust me,â he whined, pouting.
âI literally just met you.â
The ease with which he gave up gave you whiplash, having expected him to keep pushing. âSuit yourself,â he shrugged. âHey, did you know that your backdoor doesnât have a lock?â
You paled.
Definitely something a murderer would say.
Your head whipped to gawp at your dwelling with wide eyes, a full on war raging through your head now.
On one hand, yes, he was a complete and total stranger. A hot one, but still an unknown entity who could just be buttering you up. Maybe the reason the house had been abandoned for so long was because anytime a new owner came in, they got snatched up by the handsome boy who invited them just like he invited you, never to be seen again.
He could have been lying about the lock â though it honestly didnât matter, someone could probably just break through a wall if they pushed hard enough on it.
On the other hand, if he was telling the truth (how did he know that? Why?), he was the only person you knew even a little in this itty bitty isolated village (Granny doesnât count). Anyone could go through that door at night and there you would be, wrapped up in your shitty, thin sleeping bag, prime kidnapping material. You basically did all the hard work by tying your own limbs right up yourself, easiest catch of the century.
At the very least, you knew Gojoâs name and face. Granted, the first item there was debatable, but he didnât seem like the type to lie about his name â boast about it, more like. Youâd be already acquainted with your would-be assailant, so itâd be nice to know the face of your kidnapper-slash-torturer-slash-killer, if only so you could punch a picture of it over and over in your afterlife, wherever death may take you.
You shifted your gaze to him and crossed an apprehensive arm over your chest, propping your elbow up on it while you pinched your chin in consideration.
There he was, the sly rat, wearing that dumb (cute) (no) grin of his as always, patiently awaiting your answer as if he already knew it. Nothing about him seemed inherently dangerous on the surface, but donât they say serial killers are charming and charismatic people? He was a bit energetic for a murderer, though.
You weighed your options carefully. You could spend another horrid night in your house with the knowledge that there were likely insects everywhere, and possibly even asbestos in the walls, and who knows what else. Youâd have to brush your teeth by using your water tumbler again, andâŚoh, fuck, you hadnât even thought about the bathroom yet. How were you going to shower? Wash your face? Do your business?Â
Then there was your poor excuse of a bed, more plastic than anything even remotely comfy. Same with the pillow, you might as well have been sleeping on the bare ass floor. Your neck ached at the thought. Then there was your food issue, your clothes, your devicesâŚ
You sighed.
âWhatâs the catch?â You questioned reluctantly.
He merely raised his hands in a shrug. âNo catch.â
That was way too easy, but the prospect of an actual bed and a tidy (hopefully) homestead was too good to pass up, serial killer owner be damned.
Future you was just getting more and more tasks thrown at her, such as your new objective being to find an inn to live in while you figured out your home issues. And getting a job to afford said inn. But that was for way later, when you werenât losing your goddamned mind.
â...Fine,â you surrendered. Like a pussy. Weak.
âYippee!â Satoru cheered, somehow smiling wider. âGood girl, knew ya had a brain somewhere up there.â
Your stomach flip-flopped at the simultaneous praise and insult, confusing your head with emotions (and hormones) that you did not want to unpack. Cheeks reddening rapidly, you hissed at him through a tight jaw, shooing away the kindling something that pooled in your tummy. âYouââ
âCâmon,â he interrupted you before you could even start, already turning to leave as he waved his hand over his shoulder, âIâll show ya the way. Ainât far from here.â
Flustered, you stuttered indignantly, watching him walk away. You shook your head in defeat and jogged to catch up to him, needing to speed walk to match his ridiculously long strides. âOi, slow down! Youâre too damn tall!â
âYouâre just short,â he argued, his hands interlocking as they rested against the back of his head. âPipsqueak.â
You gasped in offense as if you werenât at tiddy-sucking height. âI am not a pipsqueak!â
âYou totally are,â he purred, treating you like you were some sort of adorable pet. âI bet I could pick you up and throw you if I wanted.â
An unwitting laugh bubbled out of you, and for some reason, you decided to play this frivolous game of his. âIâd like to see you try.â
You immediately regretted it as he reached out for you with a shit-eating expression of absolute delight, making you yelp and race off ahead of him, screeching as he chased right after you.
âWait, no, donât!â Your voice rang clear, fright mixed with childlike thrill spreading to your limbs as you scurried down the open road. âI was kidding!â
âGet back here!â
The wind blew past your ears, tangled into your hair, followed the curves of your body as you darted about alongside it. You let it guide you, toy with the fabric of your shirt, cup your face with cool hands. You breathed deeply, and you flew, untethered and free and so overwhelmed.
Somewhere above, beyond the boundless and endless cerulean, a star flickered.
You screamed when you felt his hands pinch your waist, catching Satoruâs devilish gleam as he passed you, and suddenly, you were the one chasing him. He cackled as you tried to catch up to him, taunting you all the way.Â
Curse his long legs.Â
You wondered how he managed to keep talking so cleanly and easily while you were struggling to maintain your breath and gait.
All those years of metaphorical running, sadly, did not translate into actual, physical running. Air stung your throat, and you only faintly recognized that you were running after him through the village, more focused on keeping that head of ivory tresses in sight.
Yet, somehow, contrary to how concentrated you were on that task, he managed to slip from your view when he turned a sharp corner and seemingly passed through an invisible barrier of some kind. He had to, because when you turned that same corner just seconds later, he was nowhere to be found.
Slowing your sprint into a trot, then stopping altogether, you bowed over and planted one hand on your knee while the other clutched your side.
âOh, god,â you groaned, your body aching in several places, both internal and external. âI almost regret skipping gym in school.â
Peeking up through your hair to check around, every part of the street you were on seemed innocuous, normal, without any obvious hiding spots Satoru might have jumped into.Â
The vertically dominant fucker.
Cautiously, you marched forward, breathing heavily as you took slow steps. The game of cat and mouse had turned into hide-and-seek, and the sucker chose not to warn you. Granted, you would have done the exact same thing, but it was within your right to bitch about it, you were at several disadvantages.
The first alley was clear of anything, even objects. Nothing more than a small gap between two buildings, you doubted he wouldâve managed to squeeze in there given how giant he was. Plus, where would he have gone even if he did wiggle into it?Â
The next alley was the same story. There was more space, but very little within said space, only a couple crates that were too small to hide him. Again, giant.
Everything, you belatedly realized, was completely uncharted territory to you. You should have listened to Granny and explored the village first. But, if you had, maybe you wouldnât have a real bed to sleep in tonight. Presumably. You were putting too much faith into Gojo being genuine about the bed â and not being a serial killer â otherwise you were sleeping outside.
âBastard.â The pain in your hip subsided and you righted yourself, inspecting every direction for any indication of white hair. It would be significantly difficult to hide that feature in an area like this, where pretty much everything had a neutral-dark colored theme, and most people had black or brunette hair.
You wondered why he was towheaded. A question for another day.
He was a magician, or trickster, you ruled, rather than acknowledging the fact that he knew this town far better than you did and likely would for a while to come.Â
Grumbles passed through your lips as you stood akimbo, squinting at everything skeptically. âWhere the hellââ
âBoo!â
You swear your soul ascended. You could picture the trail it left behind as it rose into the heavens, pulling with it a choked croak of terror from you. The sound could hardly be considered a shout, you resembled a frog more than you did a goat in the screaming department.
Demented cackling erupted behind you as you leapt forward and clutched your chest, swinging around to glower at the boy in utter disbelief. Twice now he had done this. Twice! Beside yourself, you rushed over towards him and smacked his arm repeatedly, which only fueled his laughter. âDick!â
âFuck!â Satoru heaved, reaching his whistle register. âPriceless! Oh, my god, you should have seen your face.â
âIâm gonna kill you!â The threat was far less menacing than you wanted when your own voice was as squeaky as his.Â
By the time he calmed down, you were both panting â you out of chagrin (and for the sake of your poor heart), and him to get precious oxygen back to his smooth brain.Â
âIâm serious about that, by the way,â you pouted at him. âIâm gonna kill you for scaring me. Again.â
He beamed at you and reached to pat your head, but was intercepted by your hand, only to dodge around it and manage to get a few head pats in anyway. âSure you will, sweets.â
You growled and stomped a few steps away, stopped, then whirled back around when you remembered you had no idea where you were going. He simply crossed his arms over his chest and scrutinized you with that stupid, supercilious visage.
âGo on,â he encouraged eagerly. âAsk.â
The inside of your cheek was going to be sore from how much you were chewing it. You were at an impasse; let him win, or try to find his place on your own. With no idea what it looked like. Or what direction to even go.
You imagined youâd have better luck wearing a blindfold if you tried the latter option. Either way, he was going to win, you could acknowledge that. Conceding and requesting his continued guidance meant handing over his victory on a silver platter, or heâd get some decent entertainment out of watching you try to figure out where the hell he lived.
Gods, you were regretting moving here already.
âShow me how to get to your house,â you mumbled.
The tall freak fake-cooed at you. âAww, come on, you can do better than that.â
If glouting could kill, you would be slow-roasting him over a grill. In the meekest voice you could manage, you muttered, âplease.â
âHmmm?â He canted closer towards you. âDidnât quite catch that.â
You could feel your sanity draining like sand in an hourglass. Just to get it over with, you spoke properly. âPlease show me how to get to your house.â
The jubilant grin he gave you had you reconsidering that blindfold idea you had. âBetter! Good girl, come along, now.â
Oh, your insides could just melt.
No, you argued with yourself as you trailed behind him, reluctantly obedient. You are not getting horny over that, you sad sack of potatoes. Youâre just pent up. A pretty boy calls you a good girl and youâre a sobbing mess under your pants.
Pathetic.
He whistled a sharp tune as he lazily led you, weaving around the architecture in such a way that you knew you never would have found the damn place on your own â or find your way back, for that matter. He was doing this on purpose to get you confused just to fuck with you, you knew it.Â
You were placing a lot of stock in him not being a murderer.
âKeep up, shortie,â he waved his fingers over his shoulder. âWeâre almost there.â
Taking a (albeit mild) hike up a road traveling up the mountainside was not something you expected nor planned for. Now you were lamenting skipping gym. Not that participating more in exercise over a decade ago would help you currently, but at least youâd be able to believe you were stronger than this.
Satoru watched you with no small amount of amusement as you finally caught up to his still figure, lips curved. âMan, you suck at this.â
âI didnât exactly study hiking in school,â you grumbled, closing your eyes and breathing deep.
âIâd hardly call a walk âhikingâ,â he commented, and you wimpishly smacked his arm. âWe gotta work on your stamina.â
You could hear the smirk and underlying innuendo without needing to see his stupid, handsome face.
âIn your dreams, pretty boy,â you muttered.
âHow do you know what I dream about?â
Your eyes popped open to glare at the man as he fluttered his lashes and pressed his fingers to his chest. âYouâre a menace,â you scowled, ignoring his faux âinnocenceâ in favor of looking ahead.
And getting the wind utterly knocked out of you.
This grandiose mansion was where he lived?
Balking, you stared up at his house from beneath the arch of the moon gate in front of it, taking in the sheer magnitude and extravagance of it, even from just the outside. A variety of leafy trees, well trimmed bushes, and aromatic flowers decorated it in precise symmetry, each individual blade of grass nipped to preeminence.Â
There was a garden off to the left, freshly tended to and beautiful with a pond in the center. You couldnât see what was in it, but you wouldnât be surprised if koi fish were there as well.
A partially shaded gazebo stood on the other side, right next to a gentle creek that trickled leisurely. A stone table sat in the center, and you could imagine drinking tea in the early morning there, when the sun would hit it at the right angle to warm you up.
The aesthetic was prizewinning; a wonderful, skillful mix between traditional and modern, all incorporated into a house you thought could only exist in one of those style magazines.
How long had it been here? How had it been built so extravagantly? How much did it cost?
All these painfully curious questions, yet, the first thing you thought to say when you opened your mouthâŚ
âYou said it was nearby,â you pouted. âThis is the other side of town.â
âEh?â He glanced down at you. âDoesnât seem that far to me.â
Your index finger flicked the outside of his thigh. âThatâs because youâre a walking tree.â
Gojo slapped his thigh in the same spot, beaming at you. âThese are good for a lot of things.â
âIâm sure,â the unamused deadpan you gave him had him snickering.
That shit-eating grin was back and he waggled his brows. âI could show you.â
âPass,â you rolled your eyes, addressing his house instead. âWhy is your house so far away from the village? Up the whole ass mountain and everything.â
He shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets. âDunno. It was built here a long time ago. Obviously upgraded over the years, duh, but if I had to guess, itâs because of the hot spring. The rest of the village just built lower down the path for convenience, or they were intimidated by the Gojo name.â
âHot spring?â You furrowed your brow.Â
Nonchalant as always, he nodded. âYeah, thereâs a natural hot spring in the backyard.â
âIâm sorry, did you just say you have a hot spring in your backyard?â
Being the rich boy that he was, he cocked his head to the side and spared you an inquisitive peek, as if to say âyou donât have one?â âYeah? You wanna see?â
âUh, yes?â You gawked shamelessly.
Satoru grinned and beckoned for you to follow, and you skipped right along behind him, barely managing to remind yourself to hurriedly take off your shoes at the door. You had to force yourself to be careful and line them up neatly. You also used this chance to eye the obviously rich-people footwear. You wouldnât hesitate to bet that one pair alone was worth more than one of your kidneys.
All worries of him being a potential monster dashed out the window as you let him lead you through the winding halls to a shoji door near the back of his house â you had to guess, you were not paying attention at all. You were too focused on the expensive decor and feeling way out of place.
The scenery that greeted you as soon as the door slid open had you stopping dead in your tracks in shere awe.
He hadnât been lying, there really was a hot spring in his backyard. You couldnât find it in yourself to care about his smug expression, mindlessly allowing him to gently push you forward with a hand to the small of your back.
âClose your mouth, youâll start drooling,â he teased.
Your jaw clicked shut and you shot him a half-hearted glare before your attention returned to the pool of steaming water ahead of you.
The entire area was gorgeous, honestly. Round stone circles created a path along gravel from the engawa to the basin, which was surrounded mostly by rocks with plants growing between cracks and around the base here and there. Massive pines encompassed the entire area, giving you the sensation of safety and protection.
A trail on the side led somewhere else, winding between mounds of perfectly maintained green terra, though that was of insignificant interest to you at the moment.
An instruction was murmured against the shell of your ear, and you wordlessly and thoughtlessly obeyed. âLook up.â
â...Oh.â
High above, between the gaps in the trees, you had a prime view of the sky, spanning across the ring the forest created, deep and wondrous and soâŚclear. The brightest blue you had ever seen. If the moon got caught just right, exactly in the middle, you believed magic would happen.
The towering pines kept the area shaded and pleasantly cool, and you were swept away by the urge to sink into the hot spring and let everything else fade away.Â
When you lowered your chin to look at him, you found he was already gazing at you, his grin softened to a small upturn of his lips at the corners. He was just soâŚdivine. Moonflower hair framed his face, cottony and fluffy, and though you couldnât see his eyes clearly through the indigo tint of his shades, you could feel them. They were piercing, capable of seeing right through your skin and witnessing your heart beating as it stuttered and struggled to regain its footing.Â
The way he studied you felt so familiar.
An intense watch, pinned directly on you, making the hairs on your nape stand.
You yearned to see his hues without the barrier his dark, round glasses provided, and you wondered if they could rival those of the sky, or the godsâ.Â
âWhatcha think?â He asked silkenly as he leaned forward and tilted his head to be closer to you.
âItâs beautiful,â you murmured in response without really thinking, the words flowing out of you without your conscious action. âItâs like a dream.â
You werenât sure if you meant the eden you were brought to, or the heavenly being beside you. Either way, he smiled radiantly at you and nudged your shoulder lightly with his own.
âWanna touch it?â
Your lashes fluttered as you tried to come back to yourself and not let your mind wander to places you could not reach. âThe hot spring?â
âMhmm.â
It took a considerable amount of effort to tear your eyes off of him and set them back on the cirque of water hidden beneath mist. Like a sirenâs song, you slipped on the outdoor slippers nearby and stepped off the engawa, pacing along the stone path. It was smoother, flush with the terrain, unlike the haphazardous placements of the ones you had at your own home.
The pool was milky, tinted with a rich, capri shade, reminding you instantly of a lagoon, or a salt flat mirroring the zion above that went on as far as the eye could see. A miniscule waterfall trickled placidly from the highest outcropping, following the narrow and shallow path it had carved for itself over countless years.
You resisted the urge to cup it in your hands and drink it like sacred nectar.
At the edge, you knelt down and skimmed the tips of your fingers across the waterâs surface. Goosebumps broke out across your arm and you shuddered inadvertently. Heat spread over your palm as steam coiled around you, surrounding you partially in a cocoon of warmth. The temperature bordered on the line between too hot and not enough finely, urging you to crawl beneath the waterâs cusp and embrace the cradle of coziness.
âGood, isnât it?â Gojo startled you as he spoke from where he knelt down next to you. He seemed to be proficient at scaring the shit out of you. This close, you could detect his attar clearly, and the last part of his unique fragrance finally fell into place.
Lemon.
He smelled like sweet lemons and mint.
âYeahââ you squeaked, and cleared your throat to try again. âYeah, itâs really nice. LikeâŚperfect, actually.â
He snickered and dipped his hand into the diaphanous liquid, bringing it back up to splash it onto your arm. With a cry of mock offense, you splashed him right back, cracking up as you managed to get a decent scoop into his mouth.Â
You didnât know what it was about him. Rightfully, youâd only been aware of each other for less than two hours, but it felt like youâd known him your whole life. The banter flowed easily, the games you hadnât played since you were so young that you could only vaguely remember, the way he spoke to you, like it was the easiest thing in the world.
No heavy feelings sat on your chest, creaking the brittle bars of your ribcage, filling you with an innate sense of dread and desire to flee and never stop for a second. Nothing of the sort crossed your mind. No rock weighed in the pit of your stomach, no widowâs voice murmured in your ear.
It was just you and him, in a bubble of time where nothing and everything mattered all at once. Every breath you took was meaningless, yet held the weight of the world. Every twitch of his fingers could rest even the weariest souls, or rend the sky apart should he ever care to.Â
But he didnât, and neither did you.Â
This pocket-sized domain of serenity you found yourself in brought forth dormant feelings of ease and comfort.Â
They didnât feel like a mask painted on to cover the blooming, spreading bruises under your skin and behind your solar plexus. They didnât feel like a temporary setup to sate your mind until the panic overwhelmed you all over again.
Rather, they composed a nest of the finest blankets youâd ever touched, let alone slept within. You wanted to crawl in and close your eyes and hibernate, sleep as life passed you by. You wanted to live in this moment forever.
The shoulder of his shirt grew damp where he rubbed his curled lips against it. âKittyâs got claws, huh?â
âFangs, too,â your nose scrunched up as you gave him a sly, Cheshire cat smile. âIâll let you kill me if you let me use your hot spring first.â
âDeal.â
You snorted. âNot even gonna dispute it, huh?â
âIâm assuming the âkillâ part is optional here.â
âI wonât push my luck then,â you accepted as you stood up, shaking any excess moisture off your hand. Upon remembering Granny, you pulled out your phone from your purse, tsking at the 47% charge level in the top right corner, then glanced at the time. Midday.
Satoru peeped over your shoulder after he rose up. âWhatcha lookinâ at?â
âTime,â you replied, shooing him away to stop him from being nosy. Not that you really had anything worth hiding.Â
Most of the pictures on your phone were photos youâd taken of the outside world during your trips, random things that meant something at the time you snapped the pic, but meant absolutely zip now, or blurry images of animals that refused to stay still for you.
âGranny wanted me to explore the town to get more familiar with it, then stop by for lunch,â your phone locked with a click as you stuffed it back in your bag and continued your explanation.
He whistled. âAdopted by Granny, and on your first day, too? Thatâs impressive, means youâre special.â
âEh?â Your brows furrowed in confusion. âWhy? She seems like sheâd be a nice person to everyone.â
He chuckled as you both headed back into his house. âGrannyâs a prickly lady. Donât get me wrong, she cares about everyone in the village,â he reassured you as he let you step in first and slid the door shut behind him, âbut mostly in a âI-will-throw-my-shoe-at-youâ kind of way.â
âHuh,â that didnât sound too far off from Granny, given what you knew, but you had also only met her that morning. âShe gave me free food and told me sheâll have a list of handymen when I go back today.â
âWow. She wonât even let me steal a candy bar from her store, and Iâve known her my whole life. Must mean youâre really special.â
âThereâs a difference between buying and stealing, Gojo,â pausing in your steps, you frowned as contemplation came over you. â...Do you think she thinks Iâm incompetent?â
âProbably.â
âGojo!â You hissed at his lackadaisical response.
His hands raised in surrender. âKidding, kidding! I think it just means she likes you. Câmon, Iâll show you around town.â
Following his actions, you tugged your shoes on while you thought aloud. âI didnât even do anything. Walked around her store like an idiot and nearly ran into her.â
You stepped out of the house behind him, waiting for his response. You had expected him to laugh and indeed confirm that you were an idiot (which would be twice that day, if you were keeping proper track), or come up with another quip to taunt you with, but he was quiet, pondering something.
âYou have thisâŚaura about you,â he eventually responded. âYouâre different.â
âIn what way?â You approached the topic carefully, wondering if that was a good or bad thing.
His shoulders lifted and dropped. âDunno, Iâm not good with words. Youâre just different. Youâre easy to like.â
The incline down from his house back to the village was easier than going up it, a slow slope that followed a mild curve. The road was smooth, free of cars. Those you had seen were parked along the streets below, and not often used from what you could tell. The walk gave you time to consider his words.
Youâd heard them before, but nobody ever clarified how you differed from others. He said you were likable, so you chose to believe he meant it in a good way. Youâd try to pry more information out of him at some point to sate your cautious curiosity.
âHow long have you been here?â You asked instead to change the topic, then winced, remembering that he mentioned his family had been here for a long time.
âEh,â he tilted his hand side to side a few times. âMaybe 15 or so years, including my baby years.â
Oh. Turns out you wereâŚwrong?
âYou werenât born here?â
âNo, I was,â he corrected. Ah, so you were. âI just spent a few school years in Tokyo before returning not too long ago.â Sort of.
âOh, I see,â mindlessly, you took his hand when he offered it to help you step over a gap at the bottom of the hill. His palm radiated warmth, one you missed when he pulled away and continued leading you along. âWhyâd you come back?â
âMissed home.â Your gaze met his when he shot you a glance from over his shoulder. âWhat about you, sweets? Where'd ya come from?â Upon your answer, he nodded. âCame a long way to get here, huh?â
Itâs probably best if I donât tell him why I came here. Not yet. Not ever. âYou could say that,â you responded, stopping when he did. You were grateful that he didnât push the topic.
He pointed towards something, and you angled forward to see around his body, listening carefully as he explained what was where as he guided you through the winding streets.
âDoctor lives there,â you raised a brow at the full body shudder he experienced. âShe can get scary when sheâs mad. Otherwise, chill person.â
âNoted.â
While you were curious about the doctor of this village, you had no intention of meeting her by ending up in her clinic after doing something moronic, like tripping on those stupid stones outside your front door. Or walking in purely to introduce yourself. Thatâd be weird.
As he pointed out various family homes, stores, and miscellaneous locations, he listed off names you definitely weren't going to remember anytime soon. You found it endearing that he knew everyone and shared some tidbits of gossip with you â âAuntie Furiko lives there and she totally has a grudge against Mirio-san for stealing her man.â â and he even imparted some knowledge about a few historical places and things in the village, such as the bridge over the river having been built some 400-odd years ago.Â
âIt was originally built as a passage that only allowed humans through,â he explained. âBack then, cursed spirits were a common thing, so the founders here created a path that had a sort of invisible wall that cursed spirits and objects couldn't get through. Like a curtain.â
âHuh,â you responded plainly as you examined the bridge. âCouldn't the spirits just go through the river?â
His candytuft hair fluffed as he shook his head. âThe veil goes around the entire village, the bridge was just there for convenience's sake,â he cocked his head towards you. âBut those are just legends and stories. There's plenty of tales about jujutsu sorcerers that could see the cursed spirits and eradicate them. Some people still believe cursed spirits and sorcerers are a thing, and blame disasters, like earthquakes and tsunamis, on them.â
You raised a curious expression. âDo you believe in that?â
Satoru shrugged. âTo me, itâs like believing in ghosts or demons. Even if they are real, there's no way they'd beat me,â of course, he said that last bit with full-bodied, unadulterated confidence. âI'm the best.â
A fond snort escaped you. An egomaniac as a new friend(?), that seemed exactly like the kind of trouble you'd get yourself into.
Your eyes shifted over to peer at the Wayo Kenchiko edifice situated higher up, reminding you of the wonder you felt when you first saw it.
You turned fully towards it and tugged on Gojoâs shirt to draw his attention to it as well, your interest taking precedence as you regarded it. âHey, whatâs that?â
âHm?â He followed your line of sight. âThe temple?â
âYeah.â
âItâs technically a shrine,â he clarified. âIt was built when the settlers first got here, dedicated to the wolves of the mountains.â
You squinted at him. âWolves?â
He nodded eagerly. You never would have guessed him to be somewhat of a history buff. âYep. Wolves are likeâŚguardian dogs. Theyâre long gone now, but way back then, it's said they hunted alongside the settlers. Wolves are seen as messengers for mountain gods, so people would pray to them for safety, good hunts, and good harvests.â
You nodded as you followed along. âSo you guys primarily farm here, then?â
âMore or less. Though we do get a lot of imported stuff from the neighboring city, like the things in Grannyâs store. We do mostly exports there. Itâs where a lot of the people in this village work.â
âReally?â You frowned slightly. âIsnât that city, likeâŚan hour or so from here?â
He acceded and tilted his head to the side. âYeah, why?â
âJust seems like a far way to go for work.â
Gojo shrugged as he started walking again, leading you further into town. âKeeps our village alive and well. We gotta keep up with the times, ya know?â
âSuppose so,â you acquiesced. âWhat do you guys farm here?â
âEhh, rice and soya, I think,â the teasing twist of his lips had you preemptively rolling your eyes. âSurprised you didnât know that, girlie; moving to a new place you know nothing about seems risky.â
âI didnât exactly spend my time digging into the dirt of every single person here, yâknow.â
He snickered. âI have dirt on everyone. You want some gossip?â
You huffed. âIâd rather meet someone first before you air their dirty laundry to me. I wanna have an unbiased palate.â
âOh, so you want to meet the people in this lilâ valley of ours?â
âNo,â you replied automatically, then pressed your lips tightly together at your minor flub. âI meantâ itâs notâ Iâm just notââ
His boisterous laughter cut you off, simultaneously making your eye twitch and relief flood you.
âRelax, pretty girl,â he patted your head and you scowled. âIâm just teasinâ ya.â
âIâm seriously going to kill you.â
âCute,â he crooned, and you groaned.
By the time you two walked up to your kind-of-not-really-grandmotherâs shop, you were starting to become familiar with this particular section of road. From here, you knew how to get âhomeâ, something you were dreading a touch. You werenât looking forward to seeing the catastrophe that awaited you.
âAnd this is where I leave you for now,â he stopped with you in front of the store.
You frowned minutely, an uncomfortable pang of disappointment settling in your chest. âYouâre not coming in?â
âNah,â Gojo shook his head. âGot stuff I need to do. Iâll have someone pick you up from your house later, once you get your stuff. Gimme your phone for a sec.â
Your brows knitted together as you pulled out your phone and unlocked it for him. His fingers grazed yours as you passed the device, causing you to shiver at the temperature difference. They were so warm â or maybe your hands were cold. The touch lingered on your skin, your mind clinging to the tiny wisp of sensation.
The screen of your phone coming back into your line of sight brought you back from mildly zoning out. Almost uncertain, you took it back from him and peered at the screen to see what he did.
You snorted.
He set up his own contact in your address book, making it extra flashy and everything, too. â¨â¤ď¸Satoruâ¤ď¸â¨ graced your sight, and you couldnât help but feel like that wasnât the first time he had done this, the flamboyant clown.
âThere,â he grinned. âText me when youâve got your stuff from your place.â
Stuffing the device back into your purse, your moue returned. âYou want me to bring my shit to your house?â
His brow raised in response. âUh, yeah? Were you just gonna leave it in that drab hut?â
âWell, I just thought Iâd get a room at an inn or something tomorrow, so I donât have to bother you.â
The usually bright expression on Satoruâs face fell somewhat, his voice taking a earnest tone when he said your name. The back of your neck tingled at the chime of your name passing through his lips. âYouâre not a bother. Seriously, I have more space than I know what to do with. You can stay at my place as long as you need, I insist.â
His change in demeanor threw you for a loop. There was something lying under the surface of his countenance, hidden under layers of a façade wrapped too tightly around his inner being for you to ever hope to see what was beneath. The switch from goofy to sincere struck you as odd, and while you could have jumped back on the âheâs a psychoâ train of thought, his insistence didnât resemble that of a hunter panicking about losing his prey.
Rather, it stemmed from a genuine offer made out of concern for your wellbeing. Sure, he could have been hiding some intentions (he definitely was), but he did show you the path to his house, convoluted as it was, at least some of its interior, and even the hot spring carved behind it. When you mentioned Granny, he seemed amused, rather than worried, and showed you around these confusing and interesting backwoods.
Thinking about the whole mess you had gotten yourself into, what with buying a house in a province you knew nothing about, and your limited funds, an uneasy heaviness sat in your gut. If he was suggesting an option of solace and shelter while you figured your shit out, you had very few reasons to decline.
A bit too readily, perhaps, you set aside any preconceived notions you had about him being suspicious and nodded. âAlright. Thank you, Gojo.â
âJust Satoru is fine,â that smug visage returned, all earlier signs of sobriety fading as quickly as they came. He turned back towards the way you came from, waving over his shoulder lazily. âSee ya later, sweets.â
You spied on him for a while, until he disappeared around a bend, and sighed. Considering everything that happened so far, you surmised you were in way over your head.
The doorbell to Grannyâs store pinged a sweet tune as you stepped in, finding the familiar scene nearly untouched from before. The air inside was pleasantly cool compared to outside, encouraging you to relax.
âGranny?â You called out as you stepped further in, glancing down the first aisle. âAre you here?â
âAh!â The woman you were searching for called out from a separate room, appearing through a door you hadnât noticed at the back of the store before, carrying a bento box. âPerfect timing, I finished that list for you.â
She beckoned you towards her as she rounded the counter, setting the bento box down on top of it and digging around for something under the tabletop before straightening and holding out a sheet of paper for you to take. Your fingers closed around the yellow notebook sheet and you peered down at the writing.Â
You silently thanked her for having a neat hand, as you were a tad rusty on your hiragana.
A row of names spanned down the paper, along with numbers next to each one. She had also included their specific occupations, making your life that much easier.Â
âThose are some folks in this village that can help you out. Unfortunately, most of them work in the city, so I fear you might not be able to fix up your house so soon,â Granny noted solemnly as began untying the beautifully designed furoshiki wrapped around, presumably, your food. âLet me call up a friend to find you a place to stay for the time being.â
âOh, n-no, itâs fine, Granny!â You raised your hands in front of you. âI actually found somewhere to stay.â
She raised a brow at you. âWith whom?â
The nervous laugh you let out was meek and not very reassuring. âI, uhran into Gojo Satoru, and he offered to house me. I was gonna find an inn, butâŚâ
A perturbed expression morphed her stern features. âReally? Little Satoru offered to house you?â
Little was a gnarly stretch on her part, considering Satoru easily dwarfed both of you. âIs that bad?â
Granny sighed and shook her head as she finished undoing the cloth. âNot necessarily. Heâs a troublemaker, that one, butâŚwell, Iâm not sure Iâve ever seen him invite someone who isnât one of his close friends to stay with him before.â
âHuh,â Your lips curled downwards. Were you actually so unique that he treated you differently than others? âHeâs a bitâŚâ You fumbled with your words, trying to find the right description. âDramatic, for lack of a better word, but he showed me around and said heâll have someone pick me up later.â
Her movements had slowed as she kept her eyes on you while popping open the box, studying you. She grabbed the pair of chopsticks in the lid and held the food towards you, which you took without fuss and with a quick âthank youâ. The length of silence was beginning to unsettle you, so you tried to cover it by taking a bite of the katsu she prepared for you.
And maybe groaning tacitly because, fuck, was it good. Astounding, otherworldly, you would bet easy money that no 5-star restaurant could compare to Grannyâs cooking.
Eventually, she spoke again, albeit puzzling you. âItâs no wonder you caught their attention. You are a beautiful, bright young woman.â
Your chopsticks hovered mid-bite. ââTheirâ?â
âMhmm,â the older lady nodded and tsked fondly as she grabbed a hand towel and wiped down a portion of the already spotless surface under her hands. âThereâs two of them.â
A pin could drop in the room and itâd be deafening with the silence created by your shock. âThereâs two Gojoâs?âÂ
Her amusement turned into full blown laughter. âNo, but there might as well be.â she corrected herself. âThose two are stick at the hipââ
The jingle of the bell over the door and the call of someone cut her off. You turned to watch as an attractive woman with mid-length brunette hair stepped into the room, carrying a box in her arms. Were all the people in this town contemptuously stunning? âGranny, I got theââ she stopped promptly upon seeing you. âYouâre new.â
You nodded and your pseudo-grandmother introduced you.Â
âI see,â the brown-haired girl said with a nod. âWell, nice to meet you. Iâm Ieiri Shoko, your local doctor and mortician. Just call me Shoko.â
So, this was the docâ wait, what?
Your eyes widened. â...Mortician?â
âCorrect,â Shoko grunted as she dropped the hefty box on the floor with a grunt. âWhich means you shouldnât do something stupid or piss me off unless you want to end up in my morgue.â
Now you had two reasons to fear her, counting Satoruâs warning. âDuly noted.â
Your gaze followed her as she reposed against the nearby wall, crossing her arms over her chest. âWhenâd you get in?â
âLast night.â
âHelluva place to settle,â she commented. âWhat brought you here of all options?â
Settle.
Iâm not so sure about that.
You chewed another piece of katsu and swallowed before answering. âPopulation. Iâm not a very big people-person.â
A smile lifted her lips and she exhaled through her nose. âYou and me both, girl. If you wanna be as far away from mass civilization as possible, this is the best place to be. Second only to going nomad and living in a forest alone like a witch.â
She sighed wistfully, and you had the sneaking suspicion that part of her yearned for that kind of lifestyle. âLooks like youâve thought about it before.â
âI have, but this town is full of idiots that need me, or they would have died a long time ago.â
âShoko, be nice,â Granny scolded half-heartedly, though you could spot the amusement in her eyes.
âWhat? Iâm not wrong,â Shoko averred as she reached into her pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.Â
Just as she went to open it, Granny swatted her hands and gave her a scathing glare. âNot inside, Shoko. Really, go outside, at least.â
The doctor/mortician grumbled as she stuffed the box back where it came from, giving Granny a weak stink eye. âAnyways, welcome to this miniature province of ours, girl.â
âThanks.â
âMm,â she acknowledged, then began a lecture. âAvoid the west trail that goes past the village boundary and up the mountain. Nothing bad there, just has this weird smell to it. Probably haunted by some shit,â Shoko informed you. âAlso muddy half the year. Grandma Ai can and will talk your ear off if you stop for more than a second. Good luck getting away from her if she ever catches you.â
You munched slowly as you listened to her advice intently. In any of the cities you stopped by, there werenât really any communities â not like this, anyway â so you were fascinated by the dynamics these people displayed.
Yes, you were wary, sure, but learning about the townâs intricately interwoven families and neighbors didnât mean you were getting close to anyone. If anything, it meant you could avoid attachments.
âŚRight?
Yes. Right.
ââWednesday is trash collection day, but you might have to bring your trash closer into town if youâre too far out. Oh, and donât go to the park on Thursday nightsââ
You blinked yourself back into full awareness. Your safe haven the park was off limits now? âWait, why?â
She humbled you with a deadpan that had you straightening your back, imploring you to obey. âAoi and her boyfriend like to fuck there on Thursday nights.â
âTch,â Granny clicked her tongue, glaring at Shoko. âDonât be so crass. We have a guest.â
âAh, donât worry,â you waved off her concern. âI donât mind. I appreciate the forewarning. Besides,â your lips curled into a playful smirk aimed towards Shoko, âI like when people are straightforward.â
She returned the grin with a sly one of her own. âYou and I are gonna get along well.â
Similarly to Satoru, speaking to Shoko was easy. It felt like you were reconnecting with old friends â friends you knew when you were unfledged and barely remember anything about, but the link was there.
She nodded as your conversation concluded and pushed herself off the wall, evidently needing to return to where she came from. âWell, if you need me, you know where toâ ah, wait, you donât.â
Shoko patted down her body, presumably in search of her phone or a notepad, but you reassured her hastily. âNo, itâs fine! I do, Gojo showed me around earlier.â
Her head whipped up so quickly, you worried she might have snapped it when you heard it crack. âOh, god, you already met that idiot?â
The short laugh you let out was undignified. âYep. Heâs very noticeable.â
âYou can say that again,â she grumbled. âPlease donât tell me he did something dumb and embarrassed himself, or weirded you out. Donât pay attention to him, heâs just like that.â
âWell, he said I could stay at his place since the house I got is inâŚless than favorable condition.â
She stilled on the spot, her brows slowly coming together in a visage of utter confusion. â...What? He said you could stay with him?â
âIs he a murderer?â You questioned, only half joking. âI knew it.â
âNo, no, heâs not, heâs justâŚâ She turned her gaze to Granny. âDid you know about this?â
âIâm as surprised as you are,â Granny responded.
Your tummy shifted uneasily. âIsâŚthat a bad thing?â You knew Granny said it wasnât earlier, but you had to ask again.
âNo, not reallyâŚâ Shoko was not easing your nerves whatsoever. âJust unusual.â
âHow come?â
She pulled her lips to the side in consideration. âGojo Satoru is someone whoâŚlikes to hide things.â
âOh, so he is a murderer.â
She demurred at your conclusion. âLast I checked, no. Regardless, he can be kind of a dick sometimes, so donât take any of his more outlandish shit to heart, yeah?â
You bobbed your head loosely, your mind already off creating heinous conspiracy theories about your benefactor. âYeah. Thanks for letting me know.â
âMm, itâs no problem,â she approached you and held out her hand. âGimme your phone, Iâll give you my number. You can text me if he tries to pull some shit with you.â
Getting a strong sense of dĂŠjĂ vu, you handed her your phone and watched as she punched in her number, then called her phone to get your number as well. Yours was back in your hands in record time, contact set to just her name.
âThere. I gotta head off for now, it was nice to meet you, girl,â Shoko waved to you and Granny as she disappeared through the door.
Soft huffing from behind you had you peek at the woman. âWhat?â
âItâs nothing,â Granny appeased. âJust seems youâve had an eventful first day here, no?â
âNo kidding,â you mumbled, pouting when you saw that you had finished your food. She took the empty box from you, pleased by it being practically licked spotless. âThank you, it was really delicious.â
âIâm glad you enjoyed your meal,â she nodded. She must have put a lot of effort into it.
A thought occurred to you then. âGranny, do you know where I could possibly get a job?â
She raised a brow at you. âYou want to work?â
âWell, yeah,â you scratched your cheek. âIâd try to find a job online, or the city, but I donât really know what kind of work I can get with the first option, and I donât have a car or anything for the second one.â
Her fingers cupped her chin in consideration. âHow about you work here?â
âIn your store?â
âYes,â Wait, that easily? âI could always use more hands here. Iâm getting up there in age, and my hands ache often. Youâd be helping me a lot.â
âAre you sureâŚ?â You gave her a concerned mien, subconsciously flicking your eyes down to her hands. âI donât wanna take from you more than I already have.â
Granny merely brushed away your worries. âNonsense. I could use the company, too.â
Okay, now you were starting to get suspicious. Things were lining up too well.
Well, you werenât going to look a gift horse in the mouth, but considered keeping your guard up.
âAlright,â you agreed, if somewhat hesitant. âIâll take your word for it.â
Grannyâs expression was heartwarming. âWonderful! How about you take a week or so to settle in, then you can come start when youâre ready?â
âWell, I can start sooner. If you need the help anyway.â
âHow about a few days?â
Stubborn old lady, you loved her already. âFine, a few days,â you conceded, soughing. âThanks again for the food, Granny. And for the job. I should probably get my stuff from my place and bring it to Gojoâs. Youâll be okay?â
âDonât worry about me, dear,â she shooed you away with her fingers. âGo on, now. Iâll see you soon.â
The warm air raised goosebumps up your arms as it swept over you upon leaving. It smelled distinctly sweet, a natural fragrance you quickly became fond of, enjoying it wholly during your walk back home. It had been shorter this time, the transition from defined road to coarse, packed dirt closer to town than you remembered it being.
What you were not fond of was your house, however. Your spite towards those stepping stones leading to the door growing worse as you avoided tripping over them again. The stench upon opening the front door also blew you back, making your entire face scrunch up.
âWhy did I do this to myself,â you grumbled as you cynically walked in. Daylight made your perception so much worse. Every flaw was practically highlighted in bright, blaring white.
You mulled over convincing Satoru to just let you live with him and forget this damn thing ever existed to begin with.Â
Discovering your luggage where you left it, you cringed. It just kept getting worse. The floor was sticky everywhere. With what? Who knows. Did you want to know? Abso-fucking-lutely not. It took you less than a fraction of a second to decide to abandon your sleeping bag where it was.Â
Like hell were you going to peel it off the tacky wood, let alone use it again. Not like you needed to if you had somewhere to stay anyway, right?
Since when did you become such a wastrel?
Ugh.
With a shake of your head, you rescued your suitcase and luggage bag, letting them feel the same fresh air you could. It was the little things in life that made you so grateful for this pristine oxygen. And the bigger things in life that made you extra grateful, like Gojo Satoru and his stupidly large house.Â
Bless him for giving you the opportunity to sleep in an actual bed, rather than suffering in the outdoors. Him being a sneaky skunk notwithstanding.
Welp, here goes nothing. You tapped his contact, then the bubble under it. You were just going to assume he knew who was texting him.
This is the start of your conversation with â¨â¤ď¸Satoruâ¤ď¸â¨.
You, 16:24
Yo
Got my stuff
Alright, now you just waiâ
â¨â¤ď¸Satoruâ¤ď¸â¨, 16:24
(ďźžâ˝ďźž)
give it 10
The fuck.
Emoticon aside, the instant reply caught you off guard. Didnât he say he had things to do? The day was just full of wonders, huh?
Ten minutes went by fast when you pulled up some random bad fanfiction to scroll through mindlessly. Your attention was drawn away from the half-written mess when a black sedan rolled up in front of your property, and you whistled low.Â
Why the hell was a rich boy like Satoru living in the sticks and not in some penthouse in the middle of Tokyo?
A spindly figure climbed out and bowed at you politely, hands clasped together in front of him. His voice was wispy, light and reserved. âPleasure to meet you, miss. My name is Ijichi Kiyotaka, Gojo-san requested I bring you to his residence.â
Ah, he seemed so nervous. Poor guy.
You nodded, choosing not to comment on it. You were intimate with the feeling and didnât like others pointing it out, you figured he wouldnât, either. âItâs nice to meet you, too. Iâm sorry for the trouble.â
He shook his head as he popped the trunk and helped you tuck away your luggage. âItâs no trouble at all. Though, admittedly, it is nice to not have to drive far out this time.â
âOh?â You questioned as he opened the back door for you and oh, my, were those leather seats? The car was lavish both inside and out, and probably cost more than you and your shoddy lilâ shack combined. You waited until he got into the driverâs seat, taking the extra few seconds to admire the car that you definitely should not have been in as it was clearly too high class for you, before continuing. âDo you usually have to drive to the city?â
âYes,â Ijichi confirmed, starting up the car with a smooth purr that you barely heard. Leave it to the wealthy to find the best of the best in any category, uncaring of prices. âIâm normally just a chauffeur for the Gojo household.â
You bobbed your head in understanding, peering out of the tinted window to watch everything move by. The traditional architecture was beautiful, something you admired. It made your house stick out a bit like a sore thumb, considering the more western design; you pondered why it was built like that.
The twisting road leading up the mountainside began and ended all too soon, the whole trip lasting less than 5 minutes total, your destination completed with Ijichi parking outside of the mansion.
Ever the gentleman (though, he might have been resolute in helping you with your belongings directly due to fear of some kind of punishment looming over his head), he took your things and led you into the house. âThis way, please. Iâve already set up your room for you.â
âOh, thank you,â you murmured, taking this chance to gawk at everything more properly. Frankly, it smelled rich inside, you didnât want to think about how expensive even just the vase on the coffee table was.
The sliding of a door signaled your journeyâs end. Ijichi bowed and ushered you inside first, though you kind of wished he went in before you, because you were positively floored and most definitely seemed like an idiot with your jaw hanging open. What the fuck? Satoru said this was a spare room? You were expecting maybe, oh, I donât know, normal guest room things?
Not the epitome of a deluxe hotel for fuckâs sake. The room was at least twice the size of the one you slept in yesterday, the bed was glamorous (queen size, too, Christ), the bedding laid so nicely that you debated sleeping on the ground a second time, just to avoid messing it up. Especially because the fluffy rug at the foot of the frame was so downy, you wanted to drown in it.Â
Thereâs no way this was real. Someone had to have been playing a joke on you. You spun to watch Ijichi as he carefully set your suitcase and bag against the wall by the door, waiting for him to rip the proverbial, and likely not fluffy, rug from under your feet.
Instead, he bowed once more, eyes closed. âShould you need anything, you may call for me. The restroom and bathroom are on the right when you exit. Please, feel free to bathe, if you wish. Make yourself at home. Gojo-san is out right now, but will be back by evening.â
You barely stuttered out a semi-coherent thank-you as he left, sliding the door shut behind him and leaving you in this splendor.
Surely this was a joke. You dreaded the inevitable turn, expected the door to open to a cackling Gojo Satoru as he wheezed his lungs out and pulled some âI canât believe you fell for it!â bullshit.
But it didnât happen.Â
For however long you stood there, staring holes through the closed entrance, nobody came to reveal this was all an elaborate joke, with you playing the unsuspecting and dumb victim. You laggardly let out the breath you had been holding and poked around the room with cautious hope. It really was spectacular, but you truly wondered how long Gojo would let you stay here.
By the gods, you were tired of thinking, though, and a shower would be heavenly. You could worry about everything after you were scrubbed dirt-free.
âŚAssuming you wouldnât get jumped in the shower instead of the bedroom.
âYouâre being paranoid,â you scolded yourself under your breath as you opened your suitcase to grab a change of clothes. But, really, could anyone blame you? You were sure someone else would have felt the exact same way you did.
Unless they were a professional freeloader or something.
Your soap and tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner were so sad compared to everything else around you. You should have checked if Grannyâs store had any bath products.
The bathroom was just as luxurious and fully stocked as everything else in this damn estate. Dark, rich wood encompassed the room; a sink was to your left with a sparkling mirror above it, an open shower to your right towards the back, and the chef-dâĹuvre of it all: the sunken bathtub at the end. A frosted glass window was situated behind it, shades partially lowered to allow natural light in through the bottom.
Fuck, you were so out of your depth.
But were you going to deny enjoying such riches at least once in your life? Hell no.
You turned to set your stuff down on the counter space by the sink, glancing towards the row of very expensive bottles of different types of cleansers lined up against the wall, and the note in front of them.Â
Grasping it, you saw it had your name on it, written by hand. You flipped it over to see the short message left behind.
These are yours, use them as you please
~Satoru âĽ
Ohoho, fancy products you could only ever scowl at forlornly at the store whenever you saw them, fantasizing about using them, though ultimately being shunned by the price tag? Fuck feeling apprehensive, you were damn well going to use those and indulge in feeling and smelling like a queen.
Youâd never stripped faster in your life. You barely had half a mind to fold your clothes somewhat neatly and set them on the counter, rather than scattering them all across the floor as you stumbled out of your socks and hopped to the shower on one foot.Â
Even the millions of knobs and stall-less design couldnât deter your avidity, each one subjected to random twisting until you figured it out.
As soon as the bottles were on the recessed shelf under the showerhead, you loped under the hot water and groaned, planting your forehead against the cool wall whilst it poured down your back. You practically turned into putty, all your sore and tense muscles unwinding noticeably. The shower pointed out exactly how sleeping on the floor in your own house jacked up every part of your body, because ow.Â
You honestly believed you could stand there forever, reluctant to leave, but that bathtub was calling to you.
So you grabbed the body wash first and flipped it over to read the label.
Oatmeal and almonds. Mmmh sweet fuck, you could dissolve into a puddle. It smelled heavenly, and you were giddy out of your skin knowing you were about to smell like that, too. It felt so silky-smooth on your palm, the perfume automatically coating you as you rubbed it in and savored the sensation. You didnât think youâd ever be able to go back to normal, poor-person soap without lamenting the loss of this.
You canât miss what you donât know, and boy were you going to miss this if you had to leave it behind. Satoru did say it was yours to use and keep, though, didnât he? Maybe you could yoink them when your place was all fixed up and you had to leave.
Suds coated your body in a thick layer of iridescent, white bubbles, flowing down the planes and curves of your figure with the water, rinsing every bit of your body to superb asepsis. Your hair had never known such extravagance when your fingers glided right through your locks, leaving them soft and addicting to touch. You understood now how Satoruâs was that fluffy.
You wanted to touch his hair, too.
Shaking your head to shoo away any very wholesome thoughts, you squeezed the excess water from your hair and turned off the shower, shivering at the sudden chill now that the perpetually toasty mist wasnât surrounding you anymore.
Careful to avoid slipping, you tip-toed over to the tub and knelt down beside it, reaching for the handles. Hot water burst forth from the tap, rushing to fill the basin, and you noted how deep it was, contemplating if your knees would peek out from the surface if you sat with them bent. You had to be extra vigilant to prevent falling asleep in it and drowning.
You could drown after you got to take a dip in the hot spring in the backyard. Of course, youâd prefer not having to drown at all, but if you had to choose, youâd opt for the hot spring.
Daydreams of swimming in it played behind your eyes as you sank into the tub with a delighted sigh. What tranquility, lucking out like this. You didnât know what god to thank, if any, but youâd happily grovel on your hands and knees to show your immense gratitude. Just getting a chance to live (well, bathe) in splendor for a single day was enough to fulfill some innate, deep desire you had inside.
Now that you had a moment away from the hectic day, you let yourself recount everything that happened, and question how the hell you got here.
Not 24 hours ago, you had arrived, a poor fool that nearly kicked the bucket on your own front porch, and since then, you were sort of adopted by a grandmother that fed you instead of throwing her shoe at you, met an eccentric, wealthy man who took after a deity ripped straight from mythos, and landed yourself not only a place to stay, but a place with said deity.
âWhat the hellâŚâ You mumbled to yourself as you lowered yourself until only your eyes remained above the water, blowing bubbles.Â
How did you get here?
Was this some sort of punishment? Give you a taste of the blest, then wrench it away from you? Karmic cruel and unusual castigation?
You grumbled underwater and lifted your head back up to breathe. Of course, you couldnât help being paranoid, all of this was way too good to be true. Like some sort of game showâ
Oh, godâ
You sat up pin-straight and covered your chest, scanning the bathroom ceiling and walls for any hidden cameras. You scoured every surface, squinting extra hard to spot potential blinking lights or unusually-reflective circles.
Nada.
You went boneless, lounging against the back of the tub as you exhaled heavily.
You had probably been in the bath too long. Your fingers were starting to get pruny, and your brain all jumbled up with anxiety and skepticism.
Sluggishly, you pulled yourself out and dried off while the tub drained, pulling on your clean clothes with a relieved hum. You couldnât remember the last time you treated yourself like this, if ever.Â
You heard someone speaking from beyond the hallway, so after dropping off your old clothes in your room, you ventured out through the living room, where you found none other than your savior, chatting away with someone on the phone. He turned to you and instantly lit up.
âHa-hey!â Satoru grinned and waved you over after quickly ending his call, laughing through his greeting. âYou got here safe?â
âYeah,â you nodded, moving to sit beside him at the kitchen island. âIjichi-san is good at his job.â
The towheaded boy snickered. âGood, or else I would have flicked his forehead.â
âSo, youâre the reason he looks so anxious all the time,â you scolded him, then apologized. âSorry, by the way. I didnât mean to drag you out of your conversation.â
âBah,â he brushed it off. âNo big deal, wasnât anything important. So, settling in okay? Seems you already got familiar with the soaps ânâ stuff I got you, yeah?â
You nodded eagerly, lifting your arm to sniff at your wrist. âThey smell so good, where did you get them?â
He planted his chin on his palm. âNowhere you can afford.â
Your eyes narrowed into a sharp, unamused glare. âWow, thanks.â
His cheeks crinkled his hues, and you realized he was still wearing his shades indoors. The glare of the sun no longer turned them into mirrors, allowing you to partially see through them, but the deep ocean hue of the lenses prevented you from deciphering the exact color of his irises.
What an abnormal choice of glasses. You knew people wore circular shades â they made them for a reason â but all the people youâd seen wearing them could never pull off the style.
Satoru was different, though. They suited him flawlessly; refined and dignified, yet boyish at the same time, just like the bearer.
âLet me know when you run out,â he said. âIâll get you more.â
You jolted in surprise. âOh! No, no, itâs fine! Iâd feel bad using them all up, I donât want to imagine the price tagâŚâ
He pouted at you. âWhy? You saw the note I left you, didnât you? Theyâre yours, I got them specifically so you could use them.â
You worried your bottom lip. âAre you sure?â
âI donât do anything Iâm not sure of.â
Well, thatâs all you needed to concede. âAlright. Thank you, I like them a lot.â
His moue instantly turned into a brilliant, cheek-aching smile. âIâm glad! Had me worried I picked the wrong stuff.â
His giddiness was contagious, making you giggle. âNo! Not at all, Iâm justâ Iâve never seen the brand before.â It being a Japanese brand notwithstanding.
âWell, duh,â he rolled his eyes as he hopped off his stool and sauntered over to the fridge. âThey donât sell this kind of stuff in normal stores.â
âWhereâd you get them from, then?â
âMade Ijichi fetch âem.â
You sighed heavily. âPoor guy. You work him to the bone, donât you?â
He humphed as he withdrew something from the fridge â bento boxes, you recognized. He placed one down in front of you, and took his spot at the island back. âHeâs fine. Gets paid well. Itâs not like I make him go to the city for every little whim I have.â
You huffed as you pulled off the lid to your box, your mouth instantly salivating at the food within. You barely had the conscious thought left to clap your hands and murmur âitadakimasuâ, as well as mentally slap yourself when you recalled that you had forgotten to do the same with Granny.Â
You were able to restrain the moan of delight this time, unlike in front of the old lady, but damn was it hard to.
âFuckâŚâ
Gojo cackled beside you. âItâs good, I know.â
âWho made this?â You questioned, hand covering your mouth as you chewed. Ijichi must have been a good chef, too.
The man gave you a cocky smirk. âI did.â
âŚHah?
You regarded him flatly, disbelieving. âFunny.â
âIâm serious!â He glowered. âIs it so hard to believe I can cook?â
âA little,â you confessed around a bite of sausage. âRich boys donât usually know how to cook.â
His gaze pierced directly through you, brooding as he stuffed his mouth. âIâm never gonna cook for you again, just for that.â
Oh, so he was gonna do that?Â
Hm, might as well play along.
You set down your chopsticks and turned to face him, slapping your hands together as you lowered your head to beseech his mercy. âPlease, Oâ Honored One, Gojo Satoru-sama! Forgive this witch her foolish words!â
He lifted his chin, judging you through his round shades with the pretense of a king adjudicating his subjectâs worth. A few seconds passed before he nodded in approval. âBetter. Youâre forgiven.â
âYay,â you laughed, immediately going back to eating. âIt is really good though, thank you.â
âYouâre very welcome,â he responded, virtually inhaling his serving â not that you were any better.
âWhereâd you learn how to cook?â
He swallowed and paused, speaking a fraction softer. âMy mom taught me.â
Maybe a touchy subject. You noted it as something to not approach, instead choosing to compliment them both. âShe taught you well.â
The boxes were empty in the blink of an eye, and you were both saying âgochisousamaâ with a satisfying puff.
He grabbed the chopsticks and both boxes, placing them in the sink and filling them with water. âSo you did research Japan a bit, eh? Knowing our customs.â
âI believe it comes with the territory of learning the language, yes,â you hopped off the stool, reclining against the counter. You winced minutely when your spine popped.
âHow long have you been speaking Japanese?â
âEhh,â you tilted your hand diagonally a few times. âI learned it a while back. I was studying abroad at the time. Didnât really know itâd come in handy now, though.â
He dried off his hands with the hand towel nearby and cocked his head to the side. âOh? You werenât planning to move here?â
âNotâŚreally,â you shrugged and rubbed the back of your neck. You had to tip-toe this line of conversation carefully.
He grinned, leaning forward to meet your gaze head-on as if he had just hit some sort of jackpot. âSo you are running from something after all.â Fuck. âWell? What is it? Mafia?â No. âLoan sharks?â No. âRobbed somethinâ big?â No. âExes?â
âŚSort of.
âLetâs go with exes.â
âYouâre quite the mysterious woman,â he chuckled low, voice taking on an evil little rasp. âMakes me wanna open you up.â
You batted your eyes, your brain lagging as your cheeks heated up because what the fuck, real men werenât supposed to be this hot, and you were not supposed to be this asthenic in the knees just because he had a handsome face and an absurdly attractive voice that decided to say the most deviant shit.
âAnd youâre a terrible, terrible man, Gojo Satoru,â you admonished to cover your nonplussed emotions.Â
âMhm, mhm,â he nodded in complete agreement. âIâm a terrible, terrible man that decided to take you in out of the goodness of my heart.â
You sighed. âYouâre going to use that against me, arenât you.â
âAbsolutely, Iâm never letting you live this down.â
You stuck your tongue out at him, earning yourself a smirk hidden poorly behind an offended scoff. An oddly domestic sentiment perched in your center, just beneath your breastbone. A decent meal and the slow end to an intense day had you yawning behind the back of your hand.Â
He yawned after you, the action infectious, and moped like a kid that wasnât ready to go to bed.
The emotional weight of everything was coming down on you, and you craved for nothing more than to pass the fuck out under those incredibly plush and cozy looking blankets.
âThink thatâs our cue,â you grumbled and rubbed the corner of your eye with your knuckle. âOr mine, anyway. Iâm ready to conk out and sleep for, like, a century.â
He chuckled lazily, the noise husky and low. It wasnât particularly late, no, but you felt like youâd been struck with a bus filled with mental and physical tax collected over a great deal of time. He waved you off, turning to strut down the hall opposite of the one you came through, and left you with a still cheery farewell.
Finally.
You well-nigh sprinted back to your room to nab your toiletries and sped through your simple nightly routine, impatient and antsy to dive into that queen-sized mattress. Itâs not that you disliked Gojoâs company, quite the opposite, actually, but you were tired.
Usually, you tried to put off sleep until your body gave out in the early hours before morning, uncaring for the dreams that inevitably spawned, no matter how little or how much sleep you got.
But now?
Those sheets were hailing you.
You couldnât brush your teeth quick enough. Your face was practically still damp with your moisturizer as you dived under the duvet and keened. Youâd never known such opulence in your life.
Your legs kicked with glee as you snuggled in, squeaking and curling on your side and clutching the fabric of the blanket tightly in your hands to ensure it went nowhere while you pranced around in dreamland. Heaven. Pure and simple. Heaven with the fragrance of new pin laundry and your body wash, that held your head on the coziest lap, that hugged your form and incontinently coaxed you under the waves of hypnotic slumbering.
Comfort surrounded you. The mattress underneath you was the ideal level of firmness, the blankets were warm without being overbearingly hot, and being in such a neat environment swiftly lulled you into a far easier and more satisfying sleep than youâve had in a long time.

"You have GOT to be kidding meâŚ" You grumbled, huffing a few harsh breaths, and trying again. There was something stuck under the sand, and you really wanted to see if it was worth anything. However, every time you got close to brushing enough sand from the surface to see the logo, a gust of wind would cover it back up again. Adjusting your head covering over your mouth again so you got no sand in your mouth, you also brushed off your goggles of the fine particles sticking to it. You were starting to work up a sweat, the blowing dust and sand mixed with the perspiration and was coating you in a horribly scratchy paste. Whatever was under the sand was big, and that was what you were looking for. However, you really needed to determine the make and model of the crashed ship to determine if it was worth reporting for salvage.
"Finally!" You groaned, getting the metal brushed clean. You quickly snapped a photo with your holo-tracker, the blue paint still relatively solid, enough to identify. The device spun, trying to connect to the extranet and you clicked your tongue as it took for seemingly forever.
"What?!" You swore multiple times when the device flashed, 'no results found'. Maybe you could show it to someone at the Assembly office that would know something. You already had a few pictures and coordinates of a few smaller wrecks you could report, but they probably wouldn't grant very many credits. This thing was huge though, so at least the scrap metal would be worth something. Another blast of wind nearly knocked you over as you stood back up, trying to climb out of the small crater to get back to your rover. The crappy thing about wrecks on Sierra-Vector-Tango, since the entire planet was a desert, is that they were quickly covered by sand; even if they created massive craters when they fell to the surface. However, that meant more money for finding salvage than some other planets. Bad thing? Sand worms. Their saliva got into the particles and could make it acidic, which made digging through the sand more dangerous. This, once again, caused the number of credits to be higher.
"Letâs go back for now." You jerked back with your whole body weight as you pulled the handle for the door of your rover. It finally opened and you huffed, throwing the end of your head scarf aggressively to wrap it around your neck better. Crawling up and into your rover, you rested back in the seat, trying to catch your breath. Pressing the button to start the vehicle it roared to life and the air conditioning flared to life and you just sat in the cooling air for a few minutes.
"Water!" You gasped dramatically, grabbing your canteen from the passenger seat, and drinking so aggressively the liquid spilled out of your mouth some.
"For fuck's sakeâŚ" You groaned hard, the water mixing with the layer of sand on your skin, thickening it.
"I need a real shower, with water." Shifting the gear of the rover, you started to drive back to the main road so you could start heading to the nearest Assembly office. It would be about an hour to Drent, and a little under two for Jaron, but you really didn't like going to Drent. Not only did it have the name of some dude-bro fuck boy, but it was also full of them too. Drent had one of the biggestâŚadult establishments in that quadrant. Not only did they have sexy blue alien ladies dancing on tables, but it also allowed you to sleep with them. Last time you went you nearly got mugged, and the guy just wanted your underwear. No thank you. Jaron was farther away, but a much nicer place and had a very old-style diner reminiscent of Terra from the 1950s. It was cool to go somewhere that was reminiscent of a time over two-hundred years in the past. Plus, they had a hotel with real water showers instead of the air-blasting kind that was more common. It would be more expensive, but worth it.
"This time I wanna rock with you~" You sang along to the song playing over the speakers, drumming your hands on the steering wheel of your rover as you got back to the main road. Turning right to go north toward Jaron, you set the auto-pilot on and plugged in the town, sitting back to watch the view as your rover drove itself. When you could start to see the sign for the town, you shut the auto-drive off and took control again. Large vehicles like yours weren't allowed in the city proper, so when you reached the entry checkpoint, you pulled off to the side and got out. The sun was setting, nearly below the horizon, stars starting to twinkle in the night sky. Getting out of the rover, you slammed the door as hard as you could to get it to shut and went around to the back. Grabbing your big pack and smaller bag, you also had a make-shift safe that you kept smaller salvage pieces in. You let it fall to the sandy ground with a thud and jumped back out. Keying in the code on the side, the rover beeped as it locked, and you headed to the entry booth.
"How old is your rover?" The kid at the booth was at the most eighteen, and his condescending tone was completely unnecessary.
"Doesn't matter." You tried not to steer, slapping your credit chit on the counter and he slotted it into the console. He really had no room to talk, his setup was just as old if not more so than you rover. Sliding the chit back out, he grabbed a small holo-disc and let the machine stamp it with the time and date.
"Thank you." You emphasized with fake kindness, and he rolled his eyes as he let you into the town. You let the parking disc fall into your bag along with your credit chit and started to head down the road. Your 'safe' was basically a suitcase that you made more secure and added a few locks to, so you could roll it behind you. The wheels thunked over the creases of the pavement and you wondered why the town was so dead. At that time, most people would be milling about after supper and going to bars and such. As you passed a store, you saw a sign blinking on the glass advertising some kind of political rally, must be where everyone was at. At least the hotel was still being manned, though you weren't sure the old man behind the counter was even still alive.
"Hello, dearie." He smiled up at you, wrinkles so prominent his eyes nearly disappeared.
"Hello, sir. Can I get a single room forâŚ" You thought, sucking air through the side of your mouth in thought, "how much is four nights?"
"At 250 credits a night, that would be about a thousandâŚIf you stay one more night, I will keep it that price?"
"Sweet! Thanks!" You smiled back, digging through your bag to look for the chit once again. It was a bit pricier than you normally liked, but it was worth it to get a shower with water.
"A single bed, yes?"
"Yes, sir."
"I think we only have two-bed roomsâŚthis one is two singles, does that work?"
"Sure!"
"Water shower?"
"Please~" You groaned, and he chuckled.
"It is quite slow today for the rally, so I do not think any restaurants are deliveringâŚ" The old man worked faster than you thought he would and when he slid the chit back to you, he included the room key. It looked like a glass playing card and had the room 24H-13 on it.
"It will be the second floor, take a right to the fourth hall, then its room thirteen." The old man smiled, and you thanked him, heading for the elevator, the wheels whirling on the tile floor. Once you got to the room and inside, you put everything in the room hastily before dashing into the bathroom. After relieving yourself, you shed the extremely sandy clothes and you noticed what looked like an old-style clothes dryer in the corner. It only had two settings, one of which was covered with a piece of tape and the handwritten words, âFOR SAND,' on it.
"Perfect." You shrugged and shoved all of your clothes in the drum, shutting the door, and letting it spin and get rid of the dust and grit.
"Oh~" You hummed in delight when you saw the water heating panel on the wall. You plugged in the best temperature and the water immediately came out perfect. Standing under the spray, you stood for nearly ten minutes just letting the water flow over your tired body. Glancing up at the shower head, you clicked your tongue in annoyance, it was fixed on the wall without a hoseâŚ
"Need to find a guyâŚ" you grumbled and then proceeded to actually wash up. The soaps and cleansers all smelled of Terra fruits and you wondered what they might taste like. Getting out of the shower nearly an hour later, you wrapped a towel around yourself and your hair, heading back to the main room of the hotel. Flopping onto the bed, your stomach rumbled loudly, and you sighed dramatically. No deliveryâŚThe only place that was probably open was the diner and luckily it was right next door to the Assembly office in the strip mall. It was always open since the employees of the Assembly would eat there most of the time, but they never delivered anyway. When your skin finally no longer felt wet or sticky, you put on your set of spare clothes and grabbed your smaller bag.
"Sandy." you mumbled, going back to the bathroom, taking your now sand-free clothes out. Taking everything out of your bag and setting it on top of the machine, you put your bag in to get the sand off and while you waited, put your boots back on. As it continued, you brushed your hair out and braided it again. Looking at your face, you had a slight tan line from your goggles, but it was nearly unnoticeable thanks to your head scarf covering most of the rest of your face. The machine dinged and you retrieved the satchel, putting everything back and making sure you had your chit and keycard, you left the hotel room to go get supper. Waving to the old man at the desk, you dashed out to the street and jogged down the sidewalk. The rally was still going, you could hear the shouting and cheers in the distance. Must have been a more local election or campaign because you didn't recognize the politician on the flyer. Most of the store fronts were closed, even as you turned the corner to get to the main street. In the distance, you saw the light pouring out of the windows of the Assembly office and the diner, shining like a beacon among the darkened stores surrounding it. Like a good child, you looked both ways before you crossed the road, despite there not being anything or anyone nearby. The doors slid open when you approached the office and the guy behind the counter looked up lazily from where he was counting something at the desk.
"Can I help you?" He sounded very tired. You dug in your bag once again and pulled out your credit chit as well as your ID so he could see you were a legit scavenger, but also a freelancer. Freelancers actually tended to get more money than their own employees because they didn't have to pay benefits and all that other stuff.
"I'll let the Salvage Officer know you're here." The guy handed you your stuff back and you went to sit in the empty waiting area. Tapping your toe on the floor, you could look into the entrance of the diner through the windows and door inside the office. There was only one or two customers inside and just one waitress. There was a guy sitting in the back corner, thin glasses perched on the end of his nose as he read. A paper book? Who had physical books anymore?
"(Y/N)." Your name was called by a familiar voice, and you smiled at the owner.
"Junmyeon!" He motioned with his head, and you followed him into his personal office.
"Didn't know you were working here now." You sat in front of his desk, and he chuckled, relaxing back into his office chair.
"I just transferred. What have you found?" He took the holo-tracker from you when you handed it over and plugged it into his console.
"Most of them are smallâŚ" You dimpled the corner of your mouth, looking at the monitor the best you could from your angle. He shifted the screen so you could see better, and you pointed to different marks and gave more details.
"What one is this?" He was looking at the blue logo and you shrugged.
"I have no idea; it was huge though. Looked like a Meteor-class size ship, maybe bigger. It was totally covered and left a huge crater." You emphasized with hand motions, and he panned the picture out to get the measurements before he tapped the logo so the computer could analyze it. As it spun you dug through your bag, looking to see if you had lip balm or something. You didn't notice your business friend simply watching you, more like staring. His eyes flashed to your lips as you painted the balm on your lips with your ring finger. When the console dinged, it brought both of your attention back to the machine.
"Oh, wow." He leaned in to read the information.
"I need to make some calls, can you come back in a few hours?" He looked at you and you nodded, standing.
"I can grab something to eat in the meantime!" You waved goodbye and didn't even notice when he tried to call after you. Heading back to the front of the office, you went to the door leading to the diner and the door slid open with a ding.
"Just you, girlie?" The older waitress called from behind the counter, and you nodded, going to sit at said counter.
"What can I get for you?" she asked, sassily chewing her gum. You looked over the menu and made your choice, pulling out your holo-tracker to play a game as you waited for your food. You glanced over to the back corner over your shoulder, looking at the guy reading.
"Who is that?" you asked the waitress when she came back with your drink.
"He's been hanging around here for a few days. I'm not sure what he's doing, but I know he's waiting for something. The secretary in the office might know." She nodded back to where you had been, and you told her you would be right back. Leaving your bag on your stool to save your spot, you jogged back into the office and the guy at the desk cast you a tired glance.
"Who is that guy?" You pointed toward the back corner, leaning your elbows on the ledge of the front desk.
"He's a bounty hunter of some sort I believe. He is looking for someone for some reason, is waiting there for leads. He's offering money for any information." He shrugged and you nodded in acknowledgement and headed back to the eatery. Your food was ready by the time you got back, and the waitress chuckled at how fast you shoveled it in. When you were done, you handed her your chit and meandered on over to the guy.
"I heard you're looking for someone?" You started casually and he looked up at you over his glasses and your eyes widened. He was freaking gorgeous. His left eye was highlighted red, it seemed he had some kind of hologram-like contact in it or something. His black hair was styled half up, his bangs resting over his brow. He had a few ear piercings, his left nostril had a simple loop ring, and a matching one in the middle of his bottom lip. A chain hung around his neck with a pendant on the end that was some kind of upside-down triangle design. He simply hummed in response and put a slip of paper in his book and shut it, taking his glasses off. You sat on the end of the booth, a big gap between the two of you since he was sitting in the corner of the circular seat. He slid his holo-tracker across the table showing you a blurry image from some kind of security feed. It was a person, that was about all you could tell, and they had a hood up over their head and only the bottom part of their face was visible.
"This it?" You looked back at him, and he was sitting there stiffly, just looking at you. He was really hot, actually. He had on a tan, old-style button up with the top few buttons undone. His pants were a brown leather of some kind, and he had a belt on with an attached thigh-holster that held a pistol blaster.
"They stole some schematics. I need them back more than to find the person." He tapped the screen as he looked at it upside down and it showed a second image. The person had a cylinder with a strap hung over their back.
"Itâs a set of old maps, they were stolen from the archives at the museum in the Capital." he explained and you slid your finger over the full image, zooming out to see the area.
"You a bounty hunter?" You slid the holo-tracker back to him and he put it back in his pocket.
"Not really. I'm a Ranger."
"You're a Ranger!?" You perked up and he seemed taken aback by your sudden excitement. Rangers were a small and elite group, they were essentially vigilantes, freelancers. They tended to do more things like rescues or arrests, or other odd jobs. They had a pretty strict rule of not killing.
"So, you want the maps but don't need the thief?"
"Yes. I would be nice to get both, though."
"Hm. I'll ask around and see, I travel quite a bit-"
"Scavenger?"
"Y-yeah." You chuckled nervously under his intense gaze.
"Be careful out there, if you get a lead, message me." He got his tracker back out and you scanned his with yours to save his ID.
"What's your name?" you asked.
"WonwooâŚ"
"(Y/N)." You smiled and got up from the booth, going to retrieve your chit.
"I'll let you know!" You grinned and waved goodbye, heading back in. Your timing was perfect because Junmyeon was finished and he told you the first wrecks weren't worth a whole lot, but the last one was.
"Two million credits?!" You balked at the number.
"Yeah. Seems it was some kind of cargo vessel, and they think it might still have all of the packages on it still. You could get even more depending on what's inside." He smiled at your gawk, and you finally shut your mouth.
"Woah."
"I can get you the two million now-"
"Really!?"
"Yes." He chuckled and you dug your chit back out and he slid it into the console so he could transfer the credits.
"ShitâŚ" you whispered, your hand shaking a bit as you took the chit back.
"AreâŚyou staying in a hotel tonight?" Junmyeon asked as you scrolled on your holo-tracker, admiring the giant number registered in your account.
"Yeah! I might upgrade my room~" You giggled, and he took a breath, trying to psych himself up, but no words came out before you stood to leave.
"Thanks, Myeon! I'll make sure to come here when I can, kay?" You waved goodbye and he sighed as you dashed out of his office. As you left to head back to your hotel, you saw that Wonwoo had left his booth and you wondered why. Getting outside, you realized the rally had gotten out, floods of people now walking the streets, a big crowd heading toward the diner.
"Ew." You sneered at the globs of people and dashed back to the hotel. When you got in the lobby, you skipped up to the front counter, ready to ding the bell and call the nice old man out for assistance.
"Oh?" Someone was sitting in the lobby, a book in his hand.
"Ran away from all the people?" You spoke a bit louder so he could hear you and he glanced up over his glasses again. His face wasn't quite so cold as before, but he wasn't smiling either.
"Yes." His tone was also lighter.
"There's about to be a bunch more. The campaign team is staying here and will be back soon." The old man had come out of the office, and you sneered as he laughed.
"Are you staying here too?" you asked Wonwoo who had put his book away and was taking his glasses off.
"I hadn't checked in yet."
"We do not have any more rooms available, sir. We just had an influx of online reservations since the rally got out so lateâŚ" The old man sighed, and you hummed.
"I have a second single bed in my room" You suggested, not meeting his eye as he came to stand by you. He had a small duffle over his shoulder. His eyes finally met yours, and he seemed a little nervous, but you could only see it in his eyes, past that red glowing contact.
"Is that alright with you?"
"Yes? I wouldn't have offered otherwiseâŚ" You huffed and the old man hummed.
"Here, I will get you a key as well." You both waited and when Wonwoo received the clear keycard, you both scurried to elevator, people starting to enter the lobby. Neither of you said anything till you had shut the door to the hotel room.
"Are you sure this is okay?" you asked him, he was even stiffer than before.
"Y-yes." He cleared his throat, and he went further into the room, taking the bed near the window since your stuff was on the other one. He told you he was going to shower, and you nodded as he dashed past you. Sighing, you shook away some very impure thoughts, and went to your safe, rolling it over to the bench under the clothing rack and hauling it up onto it with a grunt. It took two physical keys as well as two padlocks and a dial lock. It clicked each one open and then you were able to open it. The air seal 'shunked' as you opened it, and you carefully rested the lid on the wall so it wouldn't scratch it. Looking over your objects, you had some small crystal-like artifacts that you worried were just fakes from some kind of gift shop. You also had some intact parts for ship consoles and even jewelry. There had been just a random case you found washed up on the shore of an oasis once that had gold and silver necklaces and rings inside. It was never reported missing, so you just kept them. Other bits and pieces were inside as well, and your mind went back to the image Wonwoo had showed you. The hood was what caught your eye. The person was experienced, knowing how to hide their face from all angles, so they were probably an experienced thief. Who would want ancient maps though? Especially from Terra.
"What is all that?" His deep voice startled you; you hadn't even heard the bathroom door open. Glancing up, you swallowed hard at the sight. He had put most of his clothes back on, but his shirt was still unbuttoned, allowing you to see his toned torso. He had flopped a towel onto his head to dry his hair and was putting his glasses back on. Trying to ignore how freaking sexy he was, you cleared your throat and started to point things out. When you got to the crystals, you let him put up the one that was shaped like a pyramid.
"I donât know if they are worth anything, they might be fakes.â
"Have you shone light through them?" he asked, and you hadn't even thought of it.
"No?" He handed it back and you dug through your bag and found your flashlight, holding it to the crystal.
"Woah!" You gasped as a map of the stars shone on the ceiling as the light passed through the crystal.
"Is it worth anything?" you asked him. It was cool but could still theoretically be from a gift shop.
"The fakes have a button to turn on the light, that's the real deal. Where did you find them?" He was buttoning his shirt up, unfortunately, picking up the three other crystals and coming to sit on his bead across from you. There was a sphere, one that looked like a big diamond and an obelisk. You handed him the flashlight and he shined it through the other ones. The sphere showed a projection of a globe, but it wasn't S.V.T or even Terra.
"Mars." he muttered, and you looked closer, recognizing the small dots over the surface as the towers that held the barrier around the planet. The diamond one lit up a bright aqua blue, but that seemed to be all it did. The obelisk projected the time and date, but it seemed to be from Mars as well.
"I found them in some cave. How the heck did they get all the way out here?"
"Were these the only things in the cave?"
"YeahâŚSo even though they are legit, are they worth anything?
"Hm. Maybe to a collector. I can take them to the museum when I go back-" he halted, "If you're okay with it, I'll pay you back." If he wasn't a Ranger, you would be more hesitant to allow it, because he could just pocket the money. You didn't think he would though, not with the reputation of his group at stake otherwise.
"Sure." You shrugged and he took them and put them in his own pack, and you went back to your safe and locked it up.
"Thank you for letting me stay here." He called suddenly as you tried to figure out how the holo-screen worked and what channels there were.
"Sure. I'm not a fan of big groups of people and this is the best hotel in town." You smiled at him, going to hand him the remote.
"Oh, no, you can choose. I'll just read." You nodded and didn't press to continue the conversation. While it was quiet between you two, it was companionable and before you knew it, you had drifted off the sleep, listening to some show and the flipping of his book pages. When you awoke, he was gone, but it was like ten in the morning, and there was an unread message on your holo-tracker.
Sorry I left without saying goodbye. Thank you for letting me stay in your room for the night. I am heading back to the capital for now and will get your crystal projectors estimated. Please let me know if you get any leads on the map thief. -Wonwoo
You sighed, a little disappointed he just left, but he seemed quite shy and closed off. Whatever. For the rest of the day and the next few you lazed about and did some fun things to spoil yourself after your big payout, enjoying your little vacation. Over the week afterwards you were having trouble finding anything significant and had stopped at a small tavern set up near a small oasis. You sat at the bar, laying on it dramatically. The bartender had moved the fan closer to you so it could blow straight on you as you lazily sipped from the straw in your fruity drink. You glanced casually at the entrance when another person entered, and you zeroed in on their face. They had a hood on, but that didn't mean it was for sure the person Wonwoo had been looking for. After he had gotten the money from the crystals, more than you thought but not a huge amount, he had sent you more information. It was a woman, presumably, and she was pretty tall and even always wore heeled boots. Your gaze shifted to their feet but couldn't see for sure and you couldn't even tell it was a woman. You and Wonwoo had actually been messaging some even past leads on the thief. You didn't have many friends and while he had the other rangers, he said it was nice to talk to someone new. As you sat at the bar, you watched her, pretending you weren't. You casually took out your holo-tracker and took a picture of the person as discreetly as you could, then headed out. You continued to wait and watch in your rover, ready to take a picture of their vehicle when they left. You thought you knew which one it was, but didn't know for sure, so you waited till they came back out. They got in the one you had been eyeing, and so once they headed off, you sent the two pictures and a few more details to Wonwoo. He thanked you for the update, then asked where you were. He then told you to meet him in the next town of Falko, and since you were headed there anywayâŚ
The town was much smaller than Jaron, so there was only one small motel, so it was easy to find where he was and get to his room. He was on the first floor in room three. You knocked and barely waited before he opened it. He wasâŚsmiling. You didn't know he could do that. You forgot how gorgeous he was.
"T-thanks." You smiled bashfully and followed him inside. It seemed he had been there awhile based on everything spread out across the room. There were a few consoles set up as well as tablets and other tech.
"What's going on in here?" You motioned around the room.
"While I'm looking for the map thief, I'm also trying to get the Ranger's new communication array set up. I'm making the program myself so it can't be hacked by outside sources." Wonwoo shrugged, moving various tablets from one of the beds so you could sit down. He sat at the small desk and turned to face you. He asked a few questions about the person you saw, and you gave him more details from the pictures. It wasn't a whole lot to go on, but if it was them, then he now had their vehicle information. Before you could talk past leads on the thief, his holo-tracker went off and he read the message. He sighed.
"What's wrong?"
"My partner is coming back. It might be better if you leave." He stood to lead you out and you grimaced.
"I-It's notâŚI just don't want him to meet youâŚ" He mumbled and you wanted to press the issue. His cheeks were slightly red, and he flashed another genuine smile as you left the motel room.
"I'll let you know if the lead pans out." You nodded and before you could turn and leave, he had held something out for you.
"What's this?" You took the little holo-card.
"UmâŚit's my address. If you are ever in RatallaâŚI won't be back home for a few more days, but I should be working from there afterâŚ" Wonwoo rubbed his hands on his pants, then shoved his hands in his pockets when you noticed.
"Thanks." You gave him your own smile, then left giddily.
Nearly another month passed before you saw him in person again, but you messaged back and forth quite a lot. There was once you were near his hometown, but he wasn't there, so you missed the chance of seeing him again.
You had been meeting with a repair man in a city called Guro; your rover hadnât been driving straight. It seemed he would need it for a few days to even determine the issue, let alone what to do after. At least you were in a place with lots of activities. You had actually gotten another half a million credits from the giant wreck you found and had more funds than you knew what to do with. As you left the shop, looking up on the extranet for the nicest hotel, someone caught your eye. Despite the heat of the desert and the midday sun, there was someone slinking around with a hood on. You watched them, eyes glancing at their feet. Heeled boots. It was also a woman, and her height matched the parameters. There was even a cylinder vessel hung over her shoulder. It was her. The area had most warehouses, and she might have been meeting a buyer, so you decided to follow her. You sent Wonwoo a message with your coordinates to see if he could send someone by as well, or better yet, call some Guards. You trotted behind her, trying to stay out of sight and remain quiet. Hiding quickly around the corner, you watched her go into an unmarked warehouse after looking around for followers. Not well enough. The thief had gone in through a large open garage door, so it made it easy for you to follow. Crouching against the wall right near the edge of the door you peered around the corner and saw she was alone, probably waiting for someone. She glanced at her holo-tracker, then went further in, toward the garage door on the opposite side that opened to a scrap yard. Looking for another hiding place, you dashed forward and hid behind a column. When you peered around though, she was gone.
"Why are you following me?" A voice called from behind you, and you spun to see the thief, holding a pistol blaster aimed at you. Your heart fell and sweat broke out on your brow. Those maps must be really valuable if this person was willing to shoot you to prevent the interruption of the hand-off.
"I-I was just trying to figure out who-" The woman pulled back the hammer on the weapon and your stomach dropped.
"Shit!" You scrambled up and tried to at least get around the column when you saw her finger going to the trigger.
"Fuck!" You slammed your back against the column, seeing a smoking scorch mark on the ground.
"(Y/N)!" a familiar voice shouted, and you were shocked by Wonwoo's presence, distracting you.
"Stupid bitch!" The thief was back behind you, and you spun to see the gun nearly at your head. You yelped when something yanked you back and you fell into a hard body. Leaning into him, you watched in terror as the woman fell back onto the ground, a hole in her head. Then you noticed not only were you breathing hard, but so was he. He spun you around to look over you, his hands on your shoulders, one going to your jaw to adjust your head so he could look you over.
"Are you okay?" He was nearly frantic, his face and tone filled with panic.
"Y-yes." You weren't sure to be more surprised by his sudden appearance or the clear worry he had for you. It made your heart thud but for a much different reason. When he had finished looking over you and determined himself you were okay, Wonwoo pulled you into a hug. You returned the embrace, more trying to comfort him than anything.
"Fuck, I was worried." He sighed right in your ear, his deep voice rumbling through you.
"You were?" He pulled back enough so he could meet your eye and huffed.
"Of course. You didn't reply when I messaged you to stay awayâŚ" His hand went back to your jaw, his thumb brushing over the skin of your cheek, which was rapidly getting warm and red. When you met his eyes again your widened, he got close again and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
"Are you okay?" You chuckled a bit, kind of worried. He had never shown this level of emotion before.
"Yeah." Wonwoo pulled way, petting your hair then went to the body of the woman. You tried to avoid looking at her as he took the map holder from her and soon the Guard showed up. It was another good hour or maybe two before you both were finally allowed to leave after giving statements and answering questions.
"Do you have a place to stay tonight?" he asked you as you left the warehouse district.
"Not yet. I was just about to find a hotel when I saw herâŚ" You drifted off, pointing with your thumb in the general direction of where you just were.
"I got a crap ton of money from a wreck I found so I was going to go somewhere fancy." You smiled wide and he gave you a smaller one. Wonwoo took a step closer, looking a bit nervous, his voice had a slight waver when he spoke.
"Wanna get a room together?"
From everything after he asked that question, till your back hit the door of your hotel room, it was a blur. As soon as the door closed, he had you pressed against it, his lips swallowing yours. His big hand was at the back of your head, making sure it didn't hit the wood of the door. You had gotten one of the deluxe suites of the nice hotel, so the bedroom was separate from the living area, and there was a small kitchen even. When your lungs started to burn for more air, he finally pulled his mouth from yours. As you caught your breath, just looking at each other, Wonwoo leaned into whisper in your ear, "I'm going to fuck you on every surface in this place." He promised. Your head swam at the statement and whined.
"Please~" As soon as he got permission, he grabbed turned you around, your front pressed to the door and his nose nuzzled behind your ear. You let him do as he wished, running his hands under your thin top, starting to suck on the skin in the crook of your neck. You were a bit worried about him having to stoop over so far since he was so much taller, but if he wasn't complaining, neither would you. You could tell he was marking your skin as he licked, sucked, and nibbled over your neck and shoulders. His hands quickly got your shirt off and as his hands danced over the skin of your stomach, you toed your boots off, shoving them to the side. Before he completely removed it, Wonwoo slipped his hands under your breast band, palming the flesh, making you shiver. Undoing the latch, he took the wrap off and it fell to the floor as well. Not turning around to see for sure, you heard more fabric rustling and assumed he was removing his own top. You sighed when his arms wrapped around you, holding your back to his bare chest, the right hand cupping your left breast, and his other hand skating over your stomach. He smiled at the whining moan you let out when his hand finally went into your pants, long fingers stroking the wet patch on your panties.
"So wet, pretty girl." He kissed behind your ear, fingers tweaking your nipple.
"Wonwoo~" You whimpered when his bare fingers finally met your folds and he groaned.
"Let's see how tight you are." Every time he rumbled words in your ear, it made your whole body shiver. Sighing when his finger slid inside, he huffed, his hips twitching as your gummy walls sucked his finger in. You could feel his hardening cock through his pants, pressing into your back side. When Wonwoo added a second finger, crooking them up and pressing hard into your back wall, your legs buckled, and the only reason you didn't fall was his arms around you.
"Need to get your pussy ready for me, pretty." He smiled against your neck when your groan faded into a whine.
"Fuck~" You practically cried as his palm dug into your clit and you were already close.
"No!" You gasped when his fingers left right as you were getting to the edge.
"Wonwoo?" He had pulled away entirely, you only knew he was still behind you because his hands were on the waist band of your pants. He pulled them along with your underwear down and kneeled behind you, helping you get them off without falling over.
"Hold on, pretty girl." While you werenât sure what he was about to do, your fingers dug futilely into the wood of the door. Your breath escaped you when he, without real warning, shoved his tongue into your cunt, his thumb flicking your clit. Your legs immediately began to shake, a mewl escaping with each rapid breath. You were done for when his lips sealed around your clit, barely flicking with his tongue, and your nails dug into the wood as you released on his tongue. He chuckled, your cunt dripping release onto the floor.
"Gonna have to clean this place goodâŚ" You joked, breathless and he laughed harder. Wonwoo hummed, standing back up. There was more shuffling as you rested against the door panting. You sighed when his arms came back to you, pulling you back into his now completely naked body. His cock was wedged in the crook of your ass, and you swore under your breath, why was he so freaking big? He was tall and his shoulders were broad, and apparently had to have a fat cock as well.
"Fuck!" You groaned when the head of his cock went to the entrance of your core. One of his arms wrapped around your ribs, the hand resting under your breast, and the other was at your hip.
"Ready?" His tone had shifted, it was playful and cocky, a slight laugh accompanied the word.
"Please!" You gasped as he started to push in, your legs shook as his dick stretched you open. You hadn't been fucked in a long time, and longer still fucked good. You panted out little whines as he kept filling you, and it seemed like he was going to end up in your throat. Your whole body was trembling when he finally bottomed out, his strong hips pressed against your ass.
"God, your cunt feels so good, princess." His groan rumbled through both of you. You couldn't see, but his head was thrown back, adam's apple bobbing as he tried to get used to how tight you were. When he realized you were on your tip toes trying to compensate for the height difference, he shifted to ease the strain. He backed up so you could lean forward more, and he angled his hips down. Your feet were no longer burning, and his new angle seemed to get him even deeper somehow. Your cunt was burning too, trying to accommodate his size, slick walls fluttering from the stimulation. He had still barely moved, letting you adjust, but you were growing close again.
"MoveâŚ" Your request was so quiet. You were trying not to moan like a bitch in heat even though that was exactly how you felt.
"Slow? Fast?"
"Fuck- Wonwoo, just-" He pulled out about halfway and thrust back in, the head of his cock kissing your cervix. You both moaned, his hands left their original positions to grip the flesh of your ass and he chuckled when you nearly sobbed as he started. Only pulling out part of the way, he would fuck back into you hard, grinding his pubic bone into you each time.
"Fucking hell, Wonwoo~" You ended up back on your toes just from the pleasure and you hoped they wouldn't fine you too bad for the scratches your nails were carving into the wood. All your breath got fucked out of you when he finally gave a full thrust, your orgasm slamming into you.
"Shit-" Wonwoo grunted when your already tight cunt squeezed him even more, he had to slow down just to keep himself from cumming as well. He smirked, watching your fingers twitch as you clawed the door, your head flopped forward between your shoulders.
"No, no, no!" You babbled as he pulled out all the way, huffing in amusement at your whining.
"Come here, pretty." Wonwoo easily lifted you, somewhere between like a sack of potatoes and a princess. Your head was still swimming from your orgasm, so the move to the next location was a bit blurry. You shivered and mewled when he set you on the counter that was in the mini kitchen of the suite, the marble very cold on your bare thighs and pussy. He laughed at your yelp when he pulled you, so your butt was right at the end of the counter, and didn't hesitate to bury himself back into you. The thrust was harsher and faster than the first and your hands flew to his shoulders to steady yourself as he restarted the brutal rhythm that he was fucking you against the door with. The man groaned when your nails dug into his skin instead of the wood, so he decided to mark you himself.
"Wonwoo~" Your voice wavered, eyes starting to tear up at the feeling of him fucking your brains out. His mouth went to your own shoulder, at the base of your neck. He started with open mouth kisses, then sucked the skin before lightly sinking his teeth in. He could feel your whimper against your throat, and you felt his responding hum from his lips. Wonwoo tightened his grip as well, wanting to leave bruises shaped like his hands on your skin. He was struggling to hold you upright enough, so you didn't bang your head against the counter, and his knees kept knocking into the cabinet.
"Hold onâŚ" He grunted, and you squeaked when, without withdrawing, picked you up, holding your legs around his waist. Not going far, one hand held your butt and the other went to hitch your leg over his elbow as he pinned you to the wall. Luckily the paint on the wall wasn't textured, your back rubbing over the surface as you bounced on his cock. Wonwoo looked even more gorgeous than normal like that, naked, sweat covering his brow, pupils blown wide. The red, dancing hologram of his eye contact contracted and spun, and you wondered what it did, if anything. With hazy thoughts, you glanced down at his body, whining at the sight of his abs, clenched to work his hips and hold you up.
"Fuck, pretty girl-" He exhaled harshly, his thrusts getting less regular as he grew closer to his orgasm.
"Inside, please, fuck!" You pleaded and he had no desire to argue. His forehead landed on your shoulder, and he moaned higher than you thought he could go as he pumped his cum into you. In the silence, cutting through both of your panting breaths, your combined release dripped onto the tile floor. Your head was so empty you nearly didn't realize you had came again as well. You tried hard not to slump like a rag doll since he was completely holding you up, but you had nearly no strength.
"Let's get to the bed." Wonwoo stood up straight, staying inside, his cock still rock-hard and he carried you to the separate bedroom of the suite. While he meant to set you down on the bed gently, you flopped onto it, letting yourself finally go boneless, your muscles and mind were mush. You weren't sure if you could go any longer, but despite a bit of sweat on him, he was unaffected.
"I've been waiting to fuck you since you came to my motel room in Falko." He admitted, shifting you higher on the bed, following suit, his hard cock covered in both of yours cum resting between the folds of your cunt. You barely registered the confession before your back arched, his cock finding its home inside of you again. It was hard to fully catch your breath, he was battering his cock into your dripping cunt without any mercy. As he rolled his hips just right to hit every single good spot inside of you, his hands gripped your thighs, maneuvering your weakly shaking thighs so they were pressed to your chest, knees at your ears.
"D-daddy, go slower!" You keened and his hips immediately stopped. You were too far gone to feel anything but a bit of respite, head flopping so your cheek rested on the pillow.
"Fucking hell, princess." Somehow his voice had gotten deeper, and he started the brutal pace back up, snapping his hips even harder than before. If you had the strength to scream you would, but your throat was hoarse, so you just mewled and squeaked, drool pooling from the corners of your mouth, tears down your cheeks.
"You love daddy's cock ruining your sweet little cunt, huh?" He huffed when your glassy eyes met his. The red hologram spun and danced, and while you couldn't see, through the lens he had a much different view. Little numbers and labels shown in the air around your body, telling him how and where your brain was firing, your heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure. He could even highlight where blood pooled to the bruises his hands had made.
"Yes~!" You gasped as his thrusts slowed down, but just as hard, he barely pulled out before grinding down into you. Different sensors from his lens flashed on and he could tell you were getting close already. Even without it, he could feel your walls pulsing, more of your wet dripping from where your bodies met.
"You wanna cum, pretty?" You nodded rapidly, whimpering positively.
"Cum for daddy, then." And with one more thrust you fell over the edge. Not just from his words, but also the rough friction of his pelvic bone meeting your clit. Wonwoo chuckled as he felt your pussy spasm, more of your cum squirting from your quivering folds, coating his skin as well. He had a feeling you were spent even though he knew he could keep going. He had stilled inside of you, so he didn't overstimulate you too much, and he wasn't for sure you were still conscious. Your eyes were closed, arms resting on the bed up by your head. He smiled warmly, cooing at your fucked out state, letting your legs go so they could rest onto the bed as well. When he pulled out you shuddered, a long shaky keen floating from your parted lips. He was shocked at the globs of thick, white cum that dripped out of your swollen cunt and he was still unfortunately still very hard. After feeling your core milk him dry, he wasn't sure even a cold shower would calm him down. Though, seeing you laying there, he felt a little bad he had caused you to become so worn out and didn't want to be selfish.
"Oh, princess." Wonwoo leaned back over you, kissing your cheek, the corner of your mouth, then softly pressed his lips to yours. You sighed and it made him grin, you were at least conscious.
"You're still hard." Your voice was quiet, higher than normal, almost whiny.
"It's okay, pretty, you're tired." Wonwoo nuzzled the side of your neck under your ear, lightly sucking on your ear lobe. If he wasn't careful, he would not be able to resist sliding back inside you. With the little strength you had return to you, you pushed him back just enough that you could flop over onto your stomach.
"(Y/N), we don't-" You didn't let him finish, grabbing a pillow to shove under your hips, lifting your butt a bit higher.
"Please, daddy~" You looked at him with shining eyes over your shoulder, and who was he to resist?
"Oh, fuck, princess. If you insistâŚ"

(( @scott-golden9 aka Hercules)
(( set in da âreal worldâ Big Mistake, Beta (1)
*I have just recently finished my college work for my Political-Science class. I sigh, rubbing my forehead as I have a stress headache from writing an analysis paper. As i am packing up, I text my roommate, asking if hes in the dorm. I pack up my laptop, but before I fully close it... I receive an email stating that there has been a roommate switch. I sigh and clench the bridge of my nose with my hand. First a stressful night, and now this?! Ugh! I slam my laptop shut and pack up. Heading to my dorm-room......*
5 Minutes Later
*I arrive at my dorm hall and scan my keycard to enter my dorm room. I notice however that the paint of the scanner has turned to a metallic gold, odd. This has to be a joke. I scowl and punch in the keycode to fully unlock the door... and yet the smell of potent, unwashed crotch and foot is wafting around me, where is it coming from? I unlock the door and open it, seeing that it is dark inside my dorm room and that the window is shut. I do however get hit with a small wave of actual heat and a much larger wave of quite musky crotch and foot. I cough and enter my room, slamming the door shut. Did my roommate suddenly leave behind a years worth of unwashed socks?! I waft the stale, hot, musky air, trying to find the fan system to get fresh air circulating through the room. However, I accidently enter the bedroom section of the dorm in the darkness, and hit the lightswitch. My eyes are flashbanged and I cough, covering my eyes. Once I feel that my eyes are used to the light, I remove my hand.... only to see something that I wouldve never expected in my entire life...*

Type of date | Location | Are they romantic? | How much money will they spend | What happens after | Blurb
Words: 1692
She would prefer simple and calmer dates, especially if itâs something physical. Including paintings, baking or even just being together.
Her favourite location are cafes, likely a regular at a smaller and cozy one tucked away. So sheâll bring you along.
If you ranked her out of 10, she would be a 9. Sheâs memorized your drink order, so sheâll order ahead, paying before you could think about it. If youâre in range sheâll quickly lean over to leave a kiss.
She will spend a lot of money, (more than a normal cafe date) but there will be a limit. Unlikely youâll hit it though because she saves more than enough money.
Whether you go home or to hers, sheâll be with you the whole way. If you go home sheâll leave you with a final kiss before walking away. The other way around has her occupied, (willingly for you) grabbing you a drink and some snacks.
***
The cafe was closed off from the main road, leaving it popular enough to survive but never be uncomfortably crowded. Making her a lot easier to spot, in her normal seat near the back. Two drinks sat on the table, one was a simple tea while the other was a [favourite drink].
âY/N, sit!" While you did she rummaged around in, what you could assume was her bag. Soon plastic was heard, getting louder as she pulled it out.
Placing it onto the table, slightly muffled as some cloth was wrapped around it.
âIâve been perfecting my recipe for you, though there wasnât much change.â
Grabbing the knot on top to pick it up. Leaning over to lay her hand palm up, letting you place your own in hers. She flipped it over before pulling it closer, acting like sheâll drop the bag, instead leaving a kiss on it. Placing the bag in it after.
He likes a relaxing date. Using that time to either get to know you, or to have fun and enjoy each other's company.
His favourite places are vacation like, whether its pools, resorts or even beaches. Willing to fly you both anywhere that offers the best.
Real romantic man, but tends to be a lot more suave instead. Any attempt of romance can and has been ruined by this, not so ruined either.
From working at Talon as a mercenary and now Overwatch, money isnât a problem and should never be. He will encourage you to spend as much as possible, giving you the card to run off with.
Once you return youâll need a relaxing night at home, it's a lot more relaxing but both were well. Heâll let you choose the movie and get comfortable while he grabs the snacks.
***
You had awoken to an empty bed, Jean had left a note in his place. In short he was at the beach, wanting to watch the sunrise, likely having lost track of time. And you were right, his chair stuck out like a sore thumb, while he laid on it. When you got closer you saw how relaxed he was, finding out why.
Pulling his glasses off to see he was asleep. Another sign was the drink that split across his chest, dripping onto the chair and surrounding sand, staining it red.
âJean, BaptisteâŚâ Letting your voice wake him, while your hands landed on his shoulders, fully waking him. Sitting up just to feel off, looking down to see the mess.
âWha⌠Come on!â Slowly he packed up before following you back to the resort, ready to clean up and sleep in bed. Out of the sun.
She really enjoys being more hands on in her life, so itâs no surprise when she pulls you to group pottery or painting.
Likes workshops, could be her own or for dates. Also the arcade, with something to do constantly sheâs happy.
She tries, really. But sheâs just not romantic material, although she makes up for it in attention and gift. Slowly getting better.
She has saved a decent amount but the moment you mention wanting something she is draining the account for you.
Afterwards youâll sit together with some snacks and watch movies / shows.
***
While looking for places for your first date with Brigitte she came across one youâd both enjoy, pottery. Itâs hands on and something to keep.
âYouâll love it, câmon!â She was pulling you along, your date had rolled around quicker than you realized. The walk wasnât far, especially when she was practically running.
The outside didnât seem like much but when you entered it changed, it was a small art studio. One youâve been looking at, turns out sheâs booked you both for their pottery class.
âCâmon then, let's start!â
With her newfound powers she heats up a lot more, so ice-skating is a way to cool down. Enjoying the sensation and spending time with you.
Also enjoys spending time at home or base, able to stay comfortable and away from others.
She tries, she really does but the fact youâre her first relationship. She has no clue what sheâs doing.
Due to just starting at Overwatch she doesnât have a lot, sheâll try to save but accidentally spends it all.
Just wants to spend more, uninterrupted time with you. One way to do that is too cuddle.
***
âIâm⌠not sure about this.â Even if she didnât show it her voice betrayed her, full of hesitation. To be far sheâs never gone ice skating, nothing even close.
âYouâll be fine, just hold onto me.â Holding your arms out for her to hold, which she gratefully took. Shaking heavily once she was on the rink, unstable on the thin blades.
She let you pull her around slowly. Slowly gaining her confidence by pushing forwards on her own, although never leaving your arms. After this continued you finally let her go and skated just out of reach.
This allowed her to try on her own. Except that only ended with her falling on the rink, staying down until you pulled her up. Luckily no one else was around.
Already enjoys taking nature trails so if you join her sheâll be over the moon.
Just anywhere out in nature, whether itâs hidden and more wild or simple like a park.
Even with no past relationships and minimal flirting here and there she is oddly romantic, obviously with a hint of awkwardness.
Due to being outdoors thereâs no need to spend any or much money, but will pay for most of your items.
Likely youâll both be tired after that, so sheâll want the rest of the night spent on the couch cuddling until you wake the next day.
***
The bag sounded heavy, which was weird since it was almost empty when you left. But neither of you cared after the day you just did. Spending hours in the nearest forest covering their trails.
Having just returned, Kiriko was tired, dropping onto the couch without a second thought. You intended to go past her but she had a different idea, dragging you down onto the couch with her.
âKiri, we gotta go clean upâŚâ
âNah.â With that she pulled you closer before shoving her face into your neck and tightening her grip.
This guy has the biggest sweet tooth to exist, so itâs not surprising when he takes you to a bakery or cafe.
Is also an enjoyer of picnics in kinda cute areas, parks or even flower meadows.
Heâs real romantic without even trying, but that doesnât stop him from becoming flustered.
Due to his time at Viskar and now overwatch he has a lot just sitting around, and is willing to spend it all on you.
Enjoys a nice, simple walk at night before taking you home.
***
As you walked your hands became cold, but never became too uncomfortable. This time he reached for yours to encase them in his own. While his other was busy carrying the now empty basket.
âDonât stray too far now,â Using his grip on you to pull you closer. And before you knew it your house came into view, he had taken you back home.
âI hope we can do this again, yes?â Turning your hand over to place a gentle kiss onto the back of it. âDonât want you to forget about this night.â
Letting go of your hand and turning it out just to reveal a flower, one of your favorites made out of bio-light. He pushed it into your hands before stepping back.
âCall me will you?â
Heâll drag you along to a skating rink whether or not youâve done it before.
Willing to spend hours at the rink, skating, grabbing food and enjoying the games.
Heâs a giggly romantic type. No matter how romantic he is (which is plenty) itâll always be interrupted by him giggling.
This one has money to burn, and is willing to let you use it all or as much as you can/ Will even give you some more after.
He reveals after about a playlist he made during the date. It was about and for you, he seems like a little kid in a candy store letting you see it.
***
âCâmon,â Lucio had a tight grip on your hands, letting you do that same to his own. He was currently trying to get you onto the rink. âYouâll love it!â He almost whined.
âAs much as you? Iâm good.â
âIâm not that bad!â You only looked at him, this guy wore skates into battle. And somehow isnât that bad? No way.
âBut Iâm here to help you!â This time he tugged you closer, which had you step into the rink, almost hitting him. âSee, youâre not too bad.â
His face was covered in a grin, seemingly happy youâre finally on the rink with him.
âNow, let me teach you!â
Her first thought is to bring you to a semi-fancy restaurant, with a buffet style.
It's one she visits the most, being close and easy but one she also really enjoys.
She really tries but is only successful due to the fact you like her. Sheâs had no time for any type of romance due to work, but sheâs trying.
For being a medic at Overwatch she has gained a lot of money that doesnât get used, although she does place a limit on a few hundred.
After she likes to make sure youâre safe by walking you home / your room, not leaving until youâre inside.
***
âI hope you enjoyed tonight, I know I did.â As she spoke her hand grasped yours, in turn pulling you closer. The streets were almost empty, which was no surprise considering how late it was.
âI did,â The conversation was cut short as you reached home. Stepping closer before unlocking the door, but not entering yet. âAnd I wait for our next time Angela~â
Moira is a busy woman, so itâs likely youâll be staying in her lab or at least around the Talon base.
Her go to are pubs or restaurants, always in a private area though. Sometimes heading into a cafe for something small and sweet.
Is surprising⌠romantic? If you can say that, itâs borderline flirting. Youâre not sure where she learned this but itâs working all right.
She has plenty of money that she doesnât use, so to make up for lack of time together sheâll let you have a day or so out on the town.
Sadly nothing much happens afterwards, sheâll continue working but gives you the privilege of staying in her lab.
***
The day was long, but luckily for you it was over. For Moira it wasnât even close to finished, even though sheâs been in here since sunrise.
âMoiraaa~â Your whining caught her attention once again, she wanted to scold you but knew she couldnât. You were spending your free time with her instead of leaving at the first chance you had.
And now the sun had set, you made yourself comfortable, finding a blanket somehow in her lab. Settling on a chair as you watched her continue. The warmth and her repetitive movements slowly lulled you to sleep.
Quickly she noticed a lack of shuffling and whining, turning around to see why. You had fallen asleep, here, in her lab. Something in her felt weird, something sheâs never felt before.
Trying to ignore it, she stepped away from the bench and towards your now sleeping body, watching you for a few more seconds before leaning over. Leaving a quick kiss before stepping back and away.

do you have any favorite batman henchmen?
I put a lot of stock into how a Batman work tackles the resident henchmen and assistants and organization surrounding any specific Batrogue and how those intersect with each other so yes, absolutely I have Bat-henchman opinions, and favorites per villain. I'm gonna about pick about one or two among my favorites and name a few honorable mentions, with one exception and that's Rhino, Scarface's muscle. I know he's sort of a package deal with Mugsy, and Mugsy's pretty good too, but Rhino's the one I love.
I have a huge amount of fondness for Rhino and Rhino specifically because of his showing in "Read my Lips", as one of my favorite musical pieces for the series is the leitmotif that plays specifically for Rhino's moments in the opening heist and his brawl with Batman in the climax, and frankly he earns a top spot for me solely on the basis that he has his own theme and it's a banger on top of that. Scarface is exactly the kind of Bat-villain you want funny stereotypical cartoon gangsters attached to, and the big dumb grunt archetype is always more fun when paired with a proportionally much smaller partner or boss. And in Rhino's case, not only is he a titanically strong wall of muscle taking orders from a hand-held puppet dressed like a gangster, but cowering in fear when said puppet gets angry at him and relieved when reminded that he's too stupid to betray da boss. They made a lot with very little out of a bit character and it makes me love the episode so much more, and again, he has his own theme song and it opens the episode even, pretty hard to top that.
Penguin: My favorite overall has usually been Lark, specifically the version of her that was introduced in Tony Daniel's run. Like with Rhino and Scarface, the tiny funny-looking Oswald Cobblepot having a tall, intimidating lady chaffeur following him around makes for good contrast, and although I didn't like "Bullies" much at all, I really liked that scene of them being on friendly terms with each other, how much Penguin trusts her with his life and what he does. I like she is not abiding by any kind of formal dress code, like everyone else who tends to work at the Lounge, she's got almost like a punk thing that really contrasts with Oswald's own outfits and I always liked that, her individuality.
A more recent favorite would be Lili Kwan from Penguin: One Bad Day, someone who is far more marginalized than Oswald, and someone who was marginalized and pushed aside BY Oswald, but who joins up with him because he is the best lesser evil she is going to get and because they have enough in common that he can relate to her and respect her and ensure she is respected, but she pointedly does not mince words around him and does not entertain Oswald's delusions and self-loathing. She kinda demands Oswald to be the better class of criminal he paints himself as, to learn from his mistakes and earn having her by his side because "a king can't have illusions", and that's an incredibly interesting dynamic to me, this person with a vision of what Penguin and his empire should be like and in a position to have Penguin listen to her about it, not just muscle by his side but a voice in his ear pushing him to get his head in the game, be someone who deserves the loyalty he has from the underprivileged and the outcasts he claims to be a part of.
Honorable mentions would be the Red Triangle Gang from Batman Returns. I don't think they would really belong in any other version of the Penguin, and I have some very mixed feelings on Returns still, but I like the history they have with this Oswald and I like them in the movie proper, my favorite is the Poodle Lady for no real reason. I would also name the Kabuki Twins from The Batman cartoon, and Mr Decondor from The Batman Audio Adventures.
Joker: I gotta go with Bob the Goon, the Number One Guy. He is not even called Bob the Goon in the movie, he's just become so emblematic a figure for goons everywhere that he earns that name, Bob the Goon. See, I actually don't think the Joker should employ clowns in his gang, I think if you have more than one clown going around doing crimes, then they're not that special individually, I don't see the Joker surrounding himself with people who look or act even half as outlandish as himself, and thatâs part of why Bob works for me, this comically ordinary schlub grunt who nevertheless endears himself to our sympathies for putting up with the Joker, being endlessly loyal to Napier before and after his accident. We like him in no small part because the Joker clearly likes this guy as much as he's capable of liking anyone on the planet, which is why it actually lands when the Joker guns him down just to vent. Rest in peace Bob, an example to low-lives everywhere.
If I had to name another favorite, and one I think works better on a reocurring basis, it would be Charlie Charleyhorse, from The Batman Audio Adventures. Charleyhorse has the mannerisms of a smooth-talking wise guy and is the guy who handles the day-to-day businesses of the Joker, sweet-talking recruits and negotiating deals and convincing rookies to eat poison and even hosting his broadcasts, and in contrast to the other villain sidekicks in the show who provide comedic contrast he is this very efficient, very charming and dangerous man, fully cognizant of the cruelty he's assisting and the man he works for. To me he feels like a very organic way of establishing how much more dangerous the Joker is compared to the other villains, that he runs his disorganized crime with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine, that behind all the chaos and mayhem there is an unfathomably brilliant mind at work and a smart, affable businessman to act as a conduit between that mind and the city, as if the Joker plucked the ghost of Jack Napier from his soul and found a sweet deal that lets them both happily exist.
Honorable mentions would be Prank, from The Batman cartoon. I think Joker gunning for his own Robin is an idea with legs (Harley never really counted in that regard), I really liked his design, a perfect combination of Robin aesthetics with a clown/jester motif, and I thought he had one of the more interesting set-ups for a "Joker corrupts people into extensions of him" story, definitely one of the better Joker episodes in that show. Other honorable mentions would be Jackanapes and Captain Clown from TAS, because the Joker getting unreasonably attached to a horrible giant clown android is a pretty funny concept to me.
Riddler: God, what a perfect character Miss Tuesday is. Pairing up the self-obsessed artist of crime with the harshest critic of all, the disinterested judgemental teenager, is such a perfect combo and it does so much to breathe new life into a very classic take on Riddler. The fact that she regularly stays in touch and coordinates stuff with other villain interns is amazing and part of the incredible worldbuilding The Batman Audio Adventures has in general. Miss Tuesday is this physical embodiment of ennui to deflate his cartwheeling histerics, manifesting every bit of self-awareness that the Riddler completely ignores, annoying him just as much as he annoys everyone else (her included).
It's punctuated by her being casually murderous to an extent that even surprises him, and the fact that she is just as smart as he is, so by the standards he lives his life by, he can't brush her off as another small-minded knuckle-dragging ignoramus like he does with everyone else, no, he can't tell himself that she simply doesn't understand what he is doing. She does understand him, she is just not that impressed by him, and Eddie will simply have to roll with the barbs and work harder if he is to prove himself. She is the closest The Riddler has to a conscience and thus her job is not to push him towards any kind of moral self-improvement or an approach to his work that doesn't involve murder and terrorism, but to dunk cold water on his head and call him cringe when he gets in too deep or for doing this instead of, like, making money off this crap or something.
The other candidate would be the Riddler's Followers from The Batman. They're not a concept I think would work for a more traditional version of The Riddler, but God they work SO well for that movie and that version of him, marking Eddie Nigma's transition from malajusted murderer into not just a supervillain with a city-destroying plot, not just the rise of supervillains as a thing Gotham is gonna have to deal with forever, but as a sickness aimed at the heart of the city, and a sickness that Batman is indirectly responsible for and that he must owe up to. I really like how The Riddler: Year One elaborates on them with "He doesn't trust people. But numbers never lie." His "henchmen" are numbers, numbers on a screen he never has to actually interact with, but can still send on to be proxies of him, embodiments of how much bigger this is than anything Batman could have imagined it being.
Honorable mentions would be the classic duo of Query and Echo, and much like Bob, we gotta bring up his henchgirl Molly from the Batman 66 pilot two-parter, who tragically died by falling into the Batcave's nuclear reactor. "What a way to go-go".
Two-Face: It's common for Two-Face to have twin sets of named thugs but I can't say any of them have ever been particularly memorable to me, but one that does stick out to me is Benny from Long Shadows. I'm of the opinion that if any Batman villain should be establishing a working relationship with a henchman/assistant, if any Batman villain really needs to be depicted putting in the work as far as convincing people to work for him, it should be Two-Face, the former widely-beloved District Attorney/politician turned crimelord who somehow stays a dominant player in the Gotham underworld despite everything stacked against him (his face, his reputation, his past being public record, the coin-based decisions, etc). I think Two-Face needs to be some degree of charismatic and conversational and convincing, he's someone with more tangential history in this world than the other villains and should be willing and able to engage with people at any level, even if, and especially if, he's going to betray or save them at the flip of a coin, and the closest anyone's ever come to capturing that for me has been Benny, this guy who's willing to question Two-Face's decisions and is smart and sensible and generally pleasant enough that Two-Face lets him do it (with some limits, of course) and lets him in on what he's planning. Being drawn by Mark Bagley, who can convey a lot of expression and personality on any character, is definitely a bonus.
Scarecrow: Not so much of a henchmen since this was technically a villain team-up, but Scream Queen as she was featured in that Brave and the Bold segment has literally nothing in common with comics Scream Queen as debuted in Scare Tactics to the point she is a new character in every way. I like comics Scream Queen quite a lot, and I wouldn't want her to be any kind of underling to Scarecrow, but BATB Scream Queen is a very cool design and concept and in general I think Scarecrow could stand to have some cool and inventive henchmen, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing BATB Scream Queen turn up again so long as she had a different name. I'm also extremely partial to the Strawmen and the idea of him employing former students and offering them teaching exercises mid-crime.
Bane: There's really only one form of Bane henchmen that matter and it's Bird, Zombie and Trogg, the Fabulous Five to his Doc Savage (I always felt like there could be two more members to actually make them five, I know it doesn't have to be an exact reference but). I like them as they are in regular canon but my favorite depiction of them so far has been in the Batman 66 comic by Jeff Parker, which retrofits Bane to fit the 66 aesthetic and tone by further emphasizing his lucha motif, and having his Fabulous Three all dress up in distinct masks of their own referencing existing iconic luchadore characters.
Black Mask: I think the False Face Society is one of the more interesting parts of Black Mask's concept and it really doesn't come up enough, and when it does it gets folded into just being a name for his gangster lackeys instead of the weird cult aspect it acquired when it was folded into his character, I'd like to see that stuff get folded back in.
Hugo Strange: Honestly I love all of Hugo's varied forms of henchmen over the years, all of them have their place in the grand tapestry of his designs (I'm not too big on Sanjay from Batman and the Monster Men, there is stuff to like about their dynamic but I don't think the pulp racial manservant is a thing deserving of the charming throwback treatment). The gangsters from his debut, the androids/mannequins, Night Scourge, the TYGER guards/troopers from Arkham City, the mind-controlled villains and inmates from his Deathstroke arc, and of course the Monster Men. I do prefer the horrific body horror kaijus from Night of the Monster Men, but I also like the mutated giants, especially when they dress up in oversized trenchcoats and slouch hats.
There are a few others but I'm lastly gonna say Mr.Freeze and his polar bears Notchka and Shaka, from Batman and Mr.Freeze: Subzero. I'm not opposed to Mr.Freeze having regular henchmen, or even ice-themed henchmen like in Batman and Robin, there are ways to have it make sense, but the polar bears I think have this sort of almost innocent fairytale logic to them that just fits Mr.Freeze and his imagery a lot better, abstract guardians of the concept of the arctic that Mr.Freeze claims dominion over. Even at their most benign, you can't extricate human henchmen from the inherent brutality of their profession, but when it's trained animals defending a master, it's easier to find innocence and sympathy, traits that fit well with Mr.Freeze. If there's anything in that movie I remember, it's the bittersweet ending where they walk off into a blizzard together, his sole two companions into this new life he's cursed with.
Does it really make any sense for Mr.Freeze's established skillset and character for him to have a duo of trained polar bears on call to do crimes with, the way Penguin and Catwoman have their own trained animals? No. Is it corny? Arguably yes. Do I think it's cool? Is it a cool image? Very much so, and when it comes to Batman, that tends to be the final word in things.

REVIEWING THIS WHOLE BAG OF RUBBER BUGS:
I mentioned recently that bags of cheap rubber bugs are harder to come by in real stores, but that there are a few options for them online. I just received this set from Aliexpress thatâs currently only $4 with free shipping, you might even find the same set cheaper since thereâs multiple listings for it, but I can verify this source is using an accurate photo and I am now going to REVIEW THEM:
SPIDER: obligatory, all-purpose spider, ambiguous species, noodly legs, minimal paint application, 3/5
COCKROACH: nice silky black coloration on the back, tan on the underside, rather haphazard leg pose, I like it but in terms of objective quality itâs unfortunately a 2/5 compared to other fake roaches and even to other bugs in this set.
DRAGONFLIES: so this set is definitely pieced together from what were once multiple different rubber bug sets, but I can also confirm that you always get the same selection Iâm reviewing, which includes several redundancies. You get both a large and small dragonfly with entirely different sculpts, the smaller one more accurately sculpted but not as dynamically painted! Both Iâd give a 3/5, adequate dragonflies
ORTHOPTERA: you get a cricket AND two different styles of grasshopper! The big, detailed black and red cricket is crudely painted but very unique, 3.5/5. The small grasshopper is cute and inoffensive, barely painted, 3/5. The large grasshopper is a 4/5 for me because while Iâve seen plenty like it, it has a really nice gradient from lime green to a darker grassier green that I just find very pleasant.
BEES: two very differently sculpted bees, and they both use a sparkly metallic gold with black stripes. Both deserve a 4/5.
ANTS: collectively Iâm gonna say these are a 3.5/5, on their own very plain but I like that together you have a dull yellow-tan ant with comical googly eyes and a bigger, more ominous shiny black ant with spooky red eyes. I like that the black ant is also tied with a couple others as the largest bug in the set. Itâs actually only slightly larger than the real life Giant Amazonian ant, Dinoponera, which is also entirely black.
MANTIDS: excellent choice for another double bug, I like the simple cheapness of the little one with its awkwardly sculpted forelegs but to fair itâs a 2/5 compared to the 4/5 of the larger, red-eyed mantis which has more of that âsparklyâ paint style!
SCORPIONS: the only other arachnids in the set, and itâs amazing they included two different scorpions but only one spider. Trust me when I say thatâs the most radical maverick decision a rubber bug set has ever made in the history of mankind. The small red scorpion is alright, a 3 I guess. The larger one has only six legs which is not accurate (the claws of a scorpion are modified mouthparts, not legs!) but I canât look at its little black eyes and not want to cry so 5/5 actually.
CICADA: not terribly common in these! Charming, chunky brown cicada, though the thorax piece is so transparent you can always see the hole it plugs into. At one time, this sculpt may have been part of a higher quality set that actually painted over this design flaw. 4/5 regardless.
FLY: thereâs a pattern here in which almost every flying insect in the set has a gold-brown base, which Iâm not a big fan of. Sadly Iâm overall neutral on this fly, normally my favorite of all the basic insects, perhaps because it looks just as much like some sort of wasp. Itâs definitely a fly due to having only one pair of wings, and plenty of flies look exactly like this, but Iâd just be a bigger fan if it was a chunkier, larger-eyed blowfly or horsefly. 2.5/5
UNKNOWN: there are actually several insects this could possibly represent including a few Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera, but the one insect it most closely resembles is an adult caddisfly. I like it, but itâs difficult to fairly judge it with no certain identification so 3/5 has to do.
HAWKMOTH: stellar choice! Iâve seen only one cheap-grade plastic hawkmoth in my whole life, actually! Several hawkmoths are even clear-winged, though those usually still have dark markings around the wing edges. Wouldâve been more accurate to some real species if they just cast the wings in a solid color, but thatâs a trivial criticism. 5/5
WASP: the wasp is SO good. The paint on this one is skewed funny but thatâs fine, the green of the abdomen pops really well and I love the grouchy red eyes. 5/5
CATERPILLAR: larvae are so rarely included in these, and when they are, theyâre often an incredibly plain segmented tube that doesnât look like anything in particular, or a recolor of a generic caterpillar Iâve seen several times before. This caterpillar sculpt is actually new to me and nicely shaped, with a tapering body and accurate limbs. It is however a rather stiff hunk of plastic, not as rubbery as the others, and honestly this is the one you would want rubberiest! Still a 5/5 for its inclusion at all.
BEETLE: beetles are the most abundant, diverse insect group and the most common rubber bug toy after spiders, so itâs another bold move that they include only one in this whole set and it isnât even one of the more recognizable, more famous beetles. On its own merits as just a rubber beetle itâs a 3/5, but its metallic blue stands out so nicely in this set, and the sculpt appears to be some sort of blister beetle, a rare choice and a very cool (but dangerous! Donât touch them!!!) insect group so 5/5
MOSQUITO: mosquitoes are another of my favorite animal groups, and as one of the worldâs most abundant, most recognized, most controversial insects youâd think theyâd be a standard bug toy already, but this is only the third plastic mosquito design Iâve ever seen in my entire long life! Itâs brown, unpainted, dinky and bent funny. 10/5

portrait of a blank slate. huang renjun
pairing: huang renjun x fem! reader genre: college au. fluff, smut, and the tiniest bit of angst. warnings: swearing, alcohol, angry man renjun, very bad dialogue, this is the most un-renjun fic i've ever written, dry humping, a heavy makeout session, unfinished blowjob word count: 5.8k playlist: no specific one this time but i listened to a lot of keshi while writing this, so have this playlist of mine to fit the vibes a/n: inspired by that one tweet describing how someone's art professor met his wife the same exact way, lost the screenshot and also the og post im so sorry!
turns out all it takes to save a life is a bad, bad college party, a few shots and a weird, magical coincidence back in a girl's dorm room.
Itâs hard to believe that Huang Renjun is currently finishing up the art portfolio he needs for his summer internship program after procrastinating and angrily stomping at every single bad stroke of his paintbrush for the last few months.
Because heâs not.
Heâs looking at the canvas with stern eyes, the smudges on the white linen so messy he could cry just by looking at them, and the more he tries to save the disgrace currently scribbled in front of him, the worse it gets and makes the levels of frustration in him turn into rage and fury, because letâs be honestâ what is Renjunâs primary emotion if not anger.Â
And he tries hard to fix it again, he really doesâ he sighs heavily while doing so as he takes a smaller brush and tries to paint on a few hairstrokes to the portrait of Frida Kahlo he wants to executeâ and in honest reality, it doesnât even look half as bad as it does in the poor boyâs eyes when he takes a step back after holding in his breath and carefully piercing together the artwork. Maybe if there was someone else in the roomâ everyone but his annoying roommate Donghyuck, because that fucker always manages to make things even worseâ they could talk him out of it, offer some words of consolidation, even, hype him up and tell him that with outsiderâs eyes, the canvas looks beautiful and very well put together. But the truth is that thereâs no one present right now, not a single soul in what feels like the whole campus right now, that could ease Huang Renjunâs frustration from what seems to be art block, when he throws the paintbrush to the wall (heâll worry about the stain of acrylic paint later, when he gains consciousness) and puts a fist through the middle of the painting.
If he was a character in a comic book, his hand would go through the canvas and create a quite satisfying hole. Heâs a real person, thoughâ a weak one as well, to be quite honestâ and his fist is stopped by the stretched-out fabric, making his hand bounce back, but now stained with all shades of brown and tan, which somehow only makes him even more mad and turns him into a furious animal roaming around free and causing uttermost chaos in his all true sense.
Nothing can stop Huang Renjun when he opens the drawer he keeps all his artwork in, taking out all the graphite sketches and colored pencil drawings, and then the next one containing the watercolor paintings and various other acrylic paintings done on expensive sheets of paper, stacking all of those onto one pile in the middle of the table. Not one thing is safeâ except from the digital artworks he keeps in his iPad and his big A4 sketchbook he forgot about in the heat of the moment, since he keeps it on his nightstandâ when he takes the big, heavy stack of art and runs, chimes towards the entrance of his and Donghyuckâs miniature dorm room, luck only standing by his side once in this whole evening when his said roommate opens the door and clears the way for him, looking at the poor boy with mouth agape in a slight shock.
âWhat the fuck are you doing right nââ
Donghyuck doesnât get an answer. When he asks stupid questions, Renjun doesnât tend to pay him much mind, settling on not engaging with the discourse if it doesnât make much sense, so Hyuck should be used to the ignoranceâ he thinks this was a very valid question to ask at this moment, though. If he was curious enough, heâd even follow his roommate down the hall and watch him in his endeavors only to find out whatâs the intention behind his angry stomping and the fierce look on his face. The truth is, though, he doesnât care all that much.
That doesnât stop Huang Renjun, though, as he chimes down the hall of the boyâs dormitory, kicks the glass door open (thankfully not the actual glass part, because that would for sure be expensive) and practically runs the rest of the way towards the bins at the end of the street, dumping the papers into the bin (forgive him for not recycling in his current state of mind) before he angrily kicks the poor object twice for good measure and turns on his heel, slowly, but still as angrily making his way back to his dorm room by stomping all the way up until the entrance.
The dorm guard doesnât even ask for his dorm ID like he usually doesâ Renjun must have been quite memorable as he ran out of the building with 5kg of artwork of various sizes in his armsâ but the truth is, the man isnât as old and he saw the boy going out just a few minutes ago, so he doesnât think itâs necessary. Renjun would appreciate the memo, although, when he remembers that the man always asks for the dorm ID, especially on the nights out when he comes back slightly intoxicated and too disoriented to look for the little slip of paper in his pockets, and on the nights when he forgets his dorm ID as wellâ the man was set on letting him sleep on the front porch of the dormitory once and it took Renjun 15 calls to get ahold of a sleeping Donghyuck and another 15 of him walking down the hall in slippers and pajama bottoms with his roommateâs dorm ID in hand before he could warm his bones from the cold slowly seeping into his bones on the January nightâ and that whole thing makes Renjun somehow even more angry at the whole situation.
And so when he comes into his room again, Donghyuck now sitting on his bed still in his outside clothes (something Renjun hates and would murder for), and his eyes land on the damaged canvas still waiting for him in the corner of the room, he wastes no time in opening his window and throwing it down from the second floor, not really caring where it ends up or if heâs gonna get a fine for violating one of the dormitory rulesâ to never throw stuff out of the windows..
âDude, what isââ
âDonât ask.â Renjun huffs as he closes the door and peels his clothes off, taking a towel thatâs still hanging from the top bunk of their bed and aims towards the bathroom door. A true tantrum can only end in a cold shower, and thatâs what Renjunâs gonna do as he washes his dreams down the drain and ends up silently crying himself to sleep tonight in agony.
Itâs hard to believe Huang Renjun is currently at the best college party since the days of âmegapartiesâ of Johnny Suh, the senior thatâs slowly halting his party performance due to stilling in life. Renjun was dragged to Lee Jenoâs party by his roommate Donghyuck after he mourned in his bed for approximately two days before it got too much for the poor gemini, promising and honestly thinking that alcohol is truly the best solution for the poor boyâs misery. Again, itâs hard to believe Huang Renjun is currently at the best college party of the year when he listens to the loud EDM music piercing through his eardrums and he swears he catches a glimpse of a couple dry humping on the couch.
Because heâs not.
Heâs at a college party, sure. Heâs also getting some alcohol into his systemâ because why not, am I right? Heâs not the one paying, and thatâs always enough of a reason to drink. Is it the best college party heâs ever experienced, though? Absolutely not.
Itâs quite literally the worst party heâs ever been to. The music is too loud and the whole house smells of cheap vodka, people are pushing each other around and with the amount of alcohol in his system, the whole room feels like heâs on a boat, his stomach weak and his eyes hazy. Renjun must admit Hyuckâs therapy skills are kind of paying offâ because at least now heâs not thinking about the wasted opportunity of a summer scholarship and is instead looking into the eyes of his cute classmate from History class across the roomâ but at the same time, heâs not thinking much of anything in this moment, and the glint of your eyes is the only thing he can focus on when you get closer.
That might be a good or a bad thingâ depends on how the encounter goes. Thereâs a fine line between the amount of alcohol thatâs just perfect for Huang Renjun to get rid of his usual shyness and speak to other, much more attractive human species, and the amount of alcohol thatâs just perfect for Huang Renjun to black out and puke on the floor, efficiently making it impossible for him to chat up the cute classmate heâs been eyeing the whole semester and ruining his chances of ever being seen in a good light in front of the said person ever again. He prays intensely that he hasnât crossed the line yet when you open your mouth and speak to him in the crowded kitchen.
âRenjun!â
âY/N!â he tries to mimic your tone, a flashy grin settling onto his face when you approach him first. You two arenât strangers, after allâ youâve sat together in class during various exams and also accidentally bumped into each other in the cafeteria, but what were your courageous attempts in making conversation with him and efficiently trying to make him more interested in you didnât lead to your desired goal of getting invited out by him, instead leading him to think youâre just that friendly to everyone and not just him, making the chances of him taking the next step that much slimmer. Not tonight, thoughâ he really must have had too much to drink.
âHow are you?â you ask, clearing your throat as you bump into someone and decide to shift closer to Renjun, making the boyâs breathing hitch in his throat.
âWonderful,â he gasps, and for some reason, the response laced in irony makes an excited laugh escape your throat, and the more he listens to your bubbly giggle, the more he wishes he did music instead of fine arts, because maybe if he was competent enough, he could mimic the sound in one of his songs and replay it over and over even when youâre not around.Â
âThat sounds very genuine,â you note, which makes the boy laugh in return, making him wonder if maybe he could have the same effect on youâ if youâre smiling wider now because of the sound of his laughter, or if youâre just amused at something completely else.Â
Itâs pathetic, reallyâ the gloomy boy that was trailing to this party behind his roommate Donghyuck is nowhere to be seen now, instead replaced by the cheap imitation of a ray of sunshine that you brought out of him only with the magic of a few words and the few drops of alcohol on his tongue.
âOh, trust me, it was genuine,â he teases, and you only nod to his attempt at masking his obviously saddened composure from before.
âHaving a rough week?â you ask, and you sound truly interestedâ something Renjun hasnât found in the tone of his roommate when he insisted on dragging him hereâ and maybe thatâs the reason why he just shrugs and decides to come clean and be honest with you. You seem like that kind of person that wouldnât make fun of his troubles, the kind of person that would genuinely want to helpâ although heâs not seeking counseling tonight, he figures he can talk a bit about his shitty mood if it means that it gets the conversation flowing.
âA rough life, actually,â he snickers before he sees you eye him with a concerned look, âjust joking,â he adds before he retracks back and fixes his initial answer. âSome things didnât work out the way I wanted them to, so Iâm kind of moping around for a bit.â
You seem to feel empathetic towards the boy, nodding and pouting at his confession. âWell, I hope things get fixed for you, Jun,â you mumble, tone of voice encouragingâ and maybe he could dwell at the caring nature of you a little longer, only if it wasnât for your use of a nickname for him that just oh so sweetly rolls of your tongue and Renjun wishes he could legally change his name to the nickname so he could listen to the way it sounds foreverâ scratch that, to the way it sounds from your mouth forever, which means he wonât change it, just so itâs reserved for you and only you to say.
âWhat about you, though?â he finds himself asking in the midst of his inner screeching.
âMe? Iâm great, totally fine, having the time of my life,â you emphasize, the over-the-top expression on your face making the boy burst into laughter as you wave your arms around as if to show him your surroundings. âI am a party person for sure, you know, so this is perfect,â you joke, and Renjun seems to get the memo. If heâs being honest, heâs not sure heâs ever seen you at a party beforeâ not that he goes to many himself, which might honestly be the reason, actuallyâ you could just be at different parties in different times that hadnât overlaid, but by the way youâre currently tensely sipping at the alcohol in your hand, he figures youâre not too familiar with the scene of college partying.
âWho forced you to go? Was it your roommate?â Renjun remembers the girl from another one of his classesâ you two were always walking around together and often got to class at the same time. Figuring out that you two lived together wasnât as difficult, and she surely seems to be the more extroverted one.
âNo, actually,â you say, eyes glimmering when he seems to remember the girl you share a room with, âto my surprise, honestly. It was another one of my friendsâ Na Jaemin, not sure if you know himâ but the moment we got here, he disappeared and left me alone to deal with my thoughts,â you click your tongue and Renjun finds himself totally mesmerized with youâ amazed with everything about you; the way you talk, the way you lean on the counter and watch him with stars in your eyes (which might just be the reflections of the kitchen lights, but donât tell him that), the way you slightly lean into him when he cracks a joke and earns a laugh out of youâŚ
âThey always do that,â Renjun scowls, âthey drag the introvert in and then force them to survive on their ownâŚâ he shakes his head in disappointment, clearly distraught over the situation.Â
âExactly! But if you ask them to come with you to a picnic, or to the library, they decline the offer. So much for being good friends,â you roll your eyes. Renjun finds himself smiling, and although he must admit that as every other college student, he himself would decline an invitation to a library if anyone asked, heâs like 99% certain that if it was you uttering out the question, he wouldnât miss a heartbeat before joyfully jogging there with you.Â
âAsk me next time,â he blurts out, a poor attempt at flirting, âI wouldnât say no.â
And it seems like tonight is the night where you suddenly get the last kick of courage needed when you talk to Renjunâ maybe fueled by his coy smile when he said the previous comment, maybe just acting out on pure hormonesâ tonight's the night where he breathlessly takes your offer, still not thinking much of it, but igniting a curious spark in his own heart nonetheless, when you scratch the back of your neck in the last residue of anxiety, scrunching your nose at him and mumbling under your nose, barely heard above the loud music resonating through the living room. âDo you wanna sneak into my dorm room, then?âÂ
Renjun almost chokes at your questionâ visitors in the dormitory are only allowed until midnight and as far as heâs aware, the clock is well after 2 AM right now, and heâs a male visitor, which is even more off the bounds in the eyes of the fierce woman guarding the entrance of the girlâs dormitory building. The more he stares at you, the more you seem to translate his silence into disagreement, which you panically try to undo with even more rambling. âI- I mean, since we both kind of hate this party and I think that if I drink more, Iâm going to puke all over myself, so⌠My room is on the ground floor, so you can just climb in, if you wanted to. My roommate went home for the weekend, so thereâs no one there, and we couldâ I mean, we donât have to, honestly, but itâs kinda cold out and I thought we could both use a place more silent, âcause I really wanna head back now, but I donât want to stop talking to you, yâknow, and I donât know ifââ
âOkay, Iâm down,â Renjun nods, efficiently shutting up your rambling, and when thereâs a very apparent relief flashing over your face, he finds himself smiling in endearance at your antics, going as far as ruffling a hand through your hair in whatever kick the alcohol mixed with adrenaline gave him before you have him dragging his feet out of the house, both of your feet shuffling towards the campus.
The walk isnât long, but he finds himself enjoying it. The condensation coming out of your mouths at the chilly weather serves more to the atmosphere when the both of you giggle out at absurd jokes and gossip, your voice breaking into soft hums when you sing a song under your breath in moments of silence that somehow feel both kind of awkward, but also kind of pleasant. He drags you by your hand to the other side of the sidewalk when a car passes by and you jump in surprise, eyes wide and glossy, mouth a little agape in an open-mouthed grin when his fingers stay intertwined with yours and you adjust your purse on your other shoulder, clearing your throat before you try to nonchalantly continue on with the conversation.
âIâll go inside now,â you announce when you get to the girlâs dormitory building, breaking apart from the eager boy and coming closer to him when you confide the secret, âIâll turn the light on in my room when I get there, so make sure to look out for the window. Iâll help you in, donât worry,â you smile at him, and before he has a chance to reply, you disappear behind the glass door with a pep in your step.Â
Renjun finds himself sighingâ now is the moment when he should realistically get relief, the moment when heâs supposed to relax for at least a second and prepare himself for whatever might happen in your dorm roomâ but when he slowly walks over to the left wing of the building and squints at the dark squares of windows, he wonders how in the hell heâs gonna climb in. Escaping out will be an easy taskâ the windows arenât that high upâ but coming in will be the problem. He guesses itâs the same with the whole situationâ he bets the easiest part of the whole evening will be jumping out and running to his own roomâ how to survive the night in your presence and not go completely insane, he doesnât know and wishes he had a manual to before he agreed to do this in the first place.
When the light goes on in one of the rooms and you wave at him from the inside, he finds himself involuntarily jogging towards the window, gears in his brain turning faster than the speed of light when he reaches the wall and you grin at him, opening the window and offering him your hand.Â
âIf you grip the edge of the window and give me your hand, you can get in easily,â you say, watching as the boy cautiously looks around himself and scratches the back of his neck, mentally calculating his next movements.
âHave you done this before?â
âNo,â you bashfully shake your head, âbut my roommate did it twice, so I donât think itâs that hard,â you note and nod at him, waiting for him to finally take action.Â
Renjun finds himself doing what heâs been toldâ and even though he huffs and almost falls over to his back (which would kill him, he thinks, since his physique is very close to a turtleâs), victory fills his veins when one of his legs finally ends up in your window, his body stumbling forward and almost toppling you over when the warmth of your room welcomes him as he lands on top of your desk.Â
âWelcome,â you laugh at him when he shakes his head in disbelief and takes off his coat, dropping it on top of the wooden table and watching you close the window behind him, so the cold doesnât get in.Â
âThatâs one way of inviting guests over, I guess,â he teases you, watching as you roll your eyes at him and go over to one of the beds. Renjun notices the room is different to the one he shares with Donghyuckâ you and your roommate have two beds instead of a bunk one, the table is right under the window and you get a little more space over-all. You turn on the little lamp kept on your bedside table, and the boy watches you with interest as you cautiously walk around your own room as if itâs your first time seeing it, reminding him a little of a deer in the headlights, clueless and suddenly out of ideas.
Renjun finds himself laughing at your behaviorâ he finds himself endeared by it, the way you play with your fingers in nerves and try to think of anything to do in the intimacy that suddenly envelopes you when you invite someone over to your dorm room in the middle of the nightâ and when you aimlessly end up standing in front of him, your big eyes even bigger and glossier than before, he snickers at the state of you and shakes his head.
âOkay, so I know I was the one who invited you over, but now Iâm kind of helpless in what we should actually do and allâŚâ you giggle, a little embarrassed when you bear your eyes into his, your body subconsciously slotted in between his legs, his position leaning on the edge of the table allowing you and inviting you to do so.Â
âYouâre cute,â he laughs at you, and before you have a chance to question him about the compliment, he has you silenced abruptly by his next actions.
âWhat do youââ
His hand is gripping your jaw and he leans into you, the newly found courage and affection towards you having him drunk on more than the alcohol, but also your whole presenceâ the way your hair smells when heâs this close to you, the way you pull the sleeves of your sweater further down when you donât know what to do with your hands, the shyness in your gaze now that you have him in your cageâ and his lips act on themselves when they press themselves against yours, soft but firm, tasting the strawberry juice mixed with vodka off your mouth, a surprised gasp against his lips more than enough to invite him even further in.
He feels your fingers tugging at his shirt and your skin growing hot under his touch, leaning back from you a little and finding you looking at him with a thousand different galaxies in your eyes, enough of a confirmation to him, but heâs a manâ he still needs it vocally, when he grins lazily at you. âWas this one of the things you thought about when you invited me over?â
âMaybeâŚâ you tug at your bottom lip with your teeth, a clearly battled grin trying to settle its way onto your lips.
âYou shouldâve just said so, then,â he smiles when he leans into you again, a little more confidently this time and kisses you again, again and again.
You stay under the window for a while, lips pressed hard against each other as you try to learn the curves of each otherâs mouths by memory, lazy hands threaded into his hair and an arm around your waist now, steadying you in place. Foreheads pressed against each other when you break away for air, giggles resonating through the room when his lips make their way towards your neck and the softness of his hair tickles your skin, fingers threaded when you tug him towards your bed and you watch him kick his shoes off before you follow him onto the soft mattress.
His head falls into your pillow and you straddle his lap, your hair falling into your face when you look down at him from your position, the newly found dominance in your position charging you with unexplainable energy, and Renjun canât help but smile at you sweetly when your eyes meet and you eagerly lean down towards him, fingers once again intertwined with his, hands laying next to his head. Your breath fans his swollen lips that you once again find yourself attacking, the contact overwhelming you and making it hard to breathe. Who knows how long the both of you have wanted to do this but never had the courage toâ itâs a miracle that itâs even happening tonight.
And with the built-up desire, you act instinctivelyâ hands breaking away from his when you grip his cheeks and give him one last peck, lips now traveling down his jaw and neck instead, having the boy shivering under the contact, your actions slowly but surely driving him crazy when you find his sweet spot and you get a satisfied gasp from him, a reward for your tonightâs efforts.
His hand grips your hip, and something about the burn of his fingers even through the fabric of your jeans makes you move on instinct, earning yourself a sharper hiss this time that doesnât make you stop, howeverâ quite the opposite, actuallyâ as you break into a wide grin at the very evident effect you have on him, your movements slow and painful, but still having him harden under you.
Goosebumps appear all over your skin when his cold fingers capture the skin of your stomach when he aimlessly tries to find a place in your body to ground yourself, but the more he answers to your movements, the more encouraged you get. He tugs you back down so youâre facing him, which does nothing to halt your painful pace as he drags out yet another kiss from you.Â
âIf we donât stop now, itâs gonna be really hard for me to do so later,â Renjun huffs into your ear, which only gets you more excited.
âWho said I want to stop?â you ask him, fingers trailing up his side over his shirt, yet still making him fire up and flush in his cheeks. âDo you want to stop?â
âDo I look like I wanna stop?â he snickers, shaking his head in utter disbelief, hand traveling dangerously close to the cup of your breast.
âLetâs continue, then,â you muse, peeling yourself off him only the slightest amount, hands dragging themselves down his body until you reach the waistband of his pants, gently dragging the fabric down until heâs left in front of you only with a tent in his underwear, big eyes curiously and breathlessly watching you in your actions. He could be a gentleman and tell you you donât have to, tell you to stop and come back up and that he will pleasure you first, but the more he watches you as you palm him over the thin fabric of his boxer briefs with the dangerous doe eyes of yours, the less he wants to do just that. In all realityâ who is he to deny a blowjob from you? Or anyone, for that matter?
His whole body shudders under your touch, actions careful, but so painfully satisfying. Renjun watches your face with his bottom lip trapped between his teeth, the reality of it all sobering him up and making him aware of each shift of your body, each centimeter your fingertip travels against his skin, each motion that slowly makes a bundle of nerves appear in his stomach. It only gets too much for him when you lean on your elbows, nails gently pricking the skin of his thighs as your mouth hesitantly greets his dick, and he feels like a virgin again when his eyes peel off you just in case he finishes just by watching you blowing him off like a highschooler at his first blowjob, forcing himself to watch the ceiling instead.
Eyes traveling all over your roomâ the closed window opposite of him, the bed on the other side of the room, the walls above your bedâ he gets lost in the galaxy drawn on a piece of paper thatâs plastered right above your pillowcase, and another graphite sketch of eyes bearing right into your soul, as if they were watching him in the act, and another one, of a deer that looks through the shade of the trees, before it hits him.
âOh my god what the fuckââ he gasps, and his tone must have sounded too different to the satisfied moans that have been spilling out of his mouth up until now, because you abruptly stop your movements and your gazes lock, your eyes completely mortified.
âAm I doing something wrong?â
âOhâ Oh god no, fuck, youâre doing amazing, trust me,â apologies spill off his tongue at your distressed state, âitâs justâ where⌠where did you get these?â he asks, pointing towards all the drawings taped all over your walls that he failed to notice in the heat of the moment before.
âOh,â you cluelessly hum, eyebrows furrowed, âI found them spilling out of a trashcan close to the boyâs dorms when I was walking to class one morning, and they were so pretty I had to take them.â
âIâ you like these?â Renjun asks, full of strange surprise and genuine curiosity. Youâre now sitting back on your heels and looking at the boy with big eyes, still slightly clueless and very much in a weird state of distressâ because why would a man ask you about the random artwork on your wall in the middle of a mindblowing blowjob?â before you nod with a slight pout, agreeing.
âWell, I wouldnât have decorated my room with them if I didnât like them, yâknow⌠Why are you⌠why are you asking?â
âOh,â Renjun repeats again, a dumbfounded look taking over his soft features before he sits up on the bed and scoots closer to you, a weird sense of euphoria spilling out every vein of his body when the held-back dopamine is released into his system. A wide grin appears on his lips before he stares into your eyes with a milky way mirroring behind his eyeballs, glittering orbs haphazardly gliding over your face before he reaches your lips again, pecking them one, two, three times before you break away and look at him with furrowed eyebrows, a slight crease right in between them.
âWhat are youââ
âI think Iâm gonna literally cum just at hearing those words, Y/N,â he blurbs out before he kisses the tip of your nose again, completely endeared and close to a happy boy under the Christmas tree, and while you may enjoy that look on him, youâre still slightly confused. Huang Renjun sighs almost a little too dreamingly and smooths the wrinkle between your eyebrows with a careful swipe of his thumb, still not giving you any explanation.
âRenjun, Iâm afraid Iâm not quite following why this is so important to you right now,â you mumble, having your partner laugh airlyâ just as if all his worries escaped through the window and you fixed his life with a few drawings plastered on your wall.
âThose, dear Y/N,â he points towards the papers stuck to your walls, eyeing the specific one he worked for 3 hours on and kind of mourned the morning after he realized he threw it away, months of practice and art that maybe wasnât even that bad in the first place ending up in the trash because of a fit of rage, âare all mine. Mine as in, I drew them⌠And then threw them out in the middle of a slight mental breakdown.â
You look at him for a few heartbeats, eye contact never breaking before you avert your gaze towards the artwork on the wallsâ it takes you a few seconds before it hits youâ and you gasp, hurriedly looking back at the artist in front of you, stars glimmering in your eyes now as well, matching his excitement. âOh my god, are you for real?â
âYeah.â
âYou drew all of these?â
âYeah,â he nods again, breathless.
âThis is an insane coincidence,â you snicker, and Renjun didnât know he had it in himâ maybe itâs still the effect of alcohol that slips off his tongue when he speaksâ but he cages you in his arms as he kisses you again, a whole new world appearing in front of him when the cheesiness meets the comfort of your walls.
âYouâd call this a coincidence?â he hums. âMaybe it was fate.â
Earning himself a sharp laugh, almost mocking him as you swat his shoulder, you fall back with him towards the mattress, and while the heated moment might be gone, you donât mind at all. Renjun looks at you with a certain softness in his eyes, a pride swelling in his chest, and for a moment, itâs true and you truly did open up a new reality for him and changed his life forever, fixed all of his problems, if you will, because the appreciation it takes for a girl to tape up at least 20 of his messy artworks onto her wall after finding the stash in the trashcan on her way to class might just be the encouragement he needed to keep going with the craft.Â
Itâs hard to believe that this shitty party actually brought him somewhereâ not only to your bed, but also to your life, to a beginning of something new and a restart in something he thought heâd forever be giving up on.
âSo⌠Do you need those back? Because I kinda like them here,â you giggle, and the crinkle of his eyes is enough of an answer to you.
âYou can keep them. Iâll just draw new ones you can look at,â he muses, stealing another kiss from you and squeezing your hip, having you squeal against his mouth.
âNow, to get back to what we were doing beforeââ

WARP CORE DEEP DIVE!
Where it all began. So much so, that they never quite nailed down what anything in engineering was. We know the thing in the middle was a "matter/antimatter integrator" and it had a dilithium crystal in it. But it didn't appear until later on, the floor was originally empty. There were also large transformer-ish things that moved about as the plot demanded. The big thing behind the mesh? That's the pipe cathedral. Maybe it was an impulse engine (as per the old Star Trek Blueprints by Franz Joseph) or perhaps it was part of the warp drive. Originally the idea was that the warp nacelles generated their own power. But that would change soon...
The Animated Series gave us something very similar to the TOS engine room, with the pipe cathedral and one BIG transformer, but instead of the matter/antimatter integrator we got a glass tube with what looked like measurements on it. Maybe it's a proto-warp core a la TMP, especially since it's in a similar spot to Strange New Worlds'. Or maybe it's a coolant pipe like the 2009 movie. Who knows? We also saw inside the "antimatter nacelle" in one episode, which is generally assumed to mean inside one of the warp engines themselves but it's all a bit vague.
The Motion Picture gave us the original Big Blue Lava Lamp, the physical set was 3 stories high but augmented with forced-perspective, in the form of a painting at the bottom of the shaft and a truncated horizontal intermix chamber crewed by children at the end of the main level. The engineering crew on the main deck now wear radiation suits, adding to the idea this big blue thing isn't your friend.
This was also the Big Retcon, making the intermix chamber the power source for the warp nacelles. Every Trek regardless of era would follow this route.
In Wrath of Khan, they'd add a very important side room with dilithium crystals in for Spock to self-sacrifice in. I always found it very amusing this room, where the most important part of the engineering machinery was, was in no way physically connected to the intermix chamber. Nor did it exist in the previous movie.
The Next Generation gave us a pot-bellied stove, with neon segments glowing one-by-one up and down to give the impression of pulses of energy colliding in the middle then being fed to the nacelles. No more radiation suits needed, and the room has a nice carpet. This was also the first time "warp core" was used, a phrase that would retroactively be applied to all the prior ones.
The Enterprise-E and DS9's Defiant would have bigger and smaller warp cores that were variations on the same theme as TNG.
Voyager brought back the classic Motion Picture big blue lava lamp, just without the horizontal tube this time. It does the nifty swirly thing too. Q Junior makes it do club lighting one time.
NX-01 Enterprise is just kind of this big industrial tank with some glowy bits. It's weird that in the classic movies they needed radiation suits to work in engineering, but in the series set 100 years earlier they didn't.
The 2009 reboot filmed engineering in a thinly disguised Budweiser brewery, which made the area look enourmous and extremely complex, but lost all the high tech clean room vibes prior shows had. What in real life were giant brewing tanks housed the intermix chambers which made up the warp core, which were ejected through a hatch in the roof at the end. This look was extremely controversial with some, but personally I loved it.
In Into Darkness the warp core looks like an almighty piece of kit, and that's because they shot on location at the Lawrence Livermore National Ignition Facility. It's a real-life fusion reactor. And then you can climb inside it and it turns out that inside is one very important laser thing, some dilithium crystals you barely see and lots of deadly radiation. At least the self sacrificing happens inside the core itself and not a weird separate side chamber this time. The brewery from the last movie was still there, implying this was all along even if we didn't visit it. But that complicates things because the bits they called the warp core are very different. Perhaps the intermix chambers ejected last movie and core seen here are all part of the same huge warp core system.
Strange New Worlds reboots the original... sort of. They put a vertical intermix chamber in there and instead of a mesh and forced perspective they've got an AR wall with an enourmous array of high tech pipes. But weirdly, the writers guide says the big AR wall with the updated pipe cathedral is the deflector dish machinery not the warp core. I guess the confusion makes it more authentic TOS.

Okay hello hi hello,
First off you're amazing and a gift to the world, I wish I had even half your talent. Your last piece blew my mind and I just HAD to ask,
How long have you been drawing/painting for? I imagine forever but I'm always curious how long it takes before artists reach these sorts of levels where it evolves into full-scale projects as opposed to smaller hobbyist crafts. There are so many beautiful art pieces on this platform as a whole and I'm constantly baffled by it all
Sorry if my excitement is off-putting that piece is heavenly and my mind is blown. Hope you're doing well!
Hi and thank you! That's a good question
So I've been drawing since I was born, but I've been drawing digitally for 8 years. I think in the very beginning most artists should just focus on having fun, you'll basically improve by default
after a while you will want to improve. It will be slow, but this is the stage where you'll recognize what you need work on
I'd say the turning point is when you've finally gotten far enough into your art journey without any sort of formal training (ie, a lot of artists dont learn the basics/fundamentals first, which is fine since most of us start as hobbyists) But I think learning them really did help me a lot. You start to think more about how light and shadow lays, depth, 3D objects, and more.
I highly recommend watching this video about levels of art, it's been really helpful and motivating to me throughout the years
This part is going to be long so you don't have to read it but I just wanna give my personal journey and how I got to now if anyone thinks it'll be helpful:
(2017) With digital art, I started off on ms paint and occasionally ibis paint x. Mostly using anime deviantart bases (EMBARRASSING), but after a while I developed my own style based on the people I was inspired by at the time, I was just happy to draw and didn't care much about improving at this time
(2019) The people you look up to artistically will naturally change over time (and thats okay), after a while I decided to switch to firealpaca, where I guess I got more invested on how light and shadows work, as well as making my characters look a bit more natural and develop my own style, your preference in aesthetic may also change over time which is noticeable here
(2021) Eventually, I began to lean more into semirealism (which isn't everyones preference and thats okay! realism shouldn't be the ultimate end goal of art) but I really enjoyed making stylized characters look 3D and in natural looking environments, since I felt it spoke to my own experiences, a lot of artists draw from real life experiences. I focused more on anatomy at this time as well as textures and environments, composition also became a big deal for me at this time, as well as wanting to use different colors
(2024) The change from LINEART to DIGITAL PAINTING in 2022 was the hardest for me once I switched to clip studio paint, it was basically like starting all over and I was so lost. I had a lot to figure out on my own but I knew it was a transition I had to make to draw the kind of art I wanted. But I began to study and take more things into consideration, I didn't like my art so I simply kept going "I can do better", learning from my previous mistakes and slowly making something I would be more satisfied with. At this point art felt more like "projects" then anything, because I wanted to make pieces that were of quality and had time and care put into each of them, sure it meant there was no longer much quantity. but hey that's what my smaller Cult of the Lamb lineart drawings are for!! đ
I'm still growing and I definitely have a long way to go, but I am very proud of my progress this year, and I'll continue to grow until I'm satisfied (haha im stubborn) I also want to develop my secondary lineart style that I do when I'm not painting, since I feel that is important too
in short; time, practice, dedication, and passion are the most important, draw what you love above all else because it will be your drive to keep going, staying motivated was the most important for me
Sorry for the long post đ
#digital art#art#art journey#this was a long one guys sorry#its been a long time since I've been asked this#I've changed a lot this year#and honestly it's thanks to cult of the lambs amazing community for keeping me motivated#thank you#oc#original character#fanart#cookie run#timekeeper cookie#ever after high#lizzie hearts#cult of the lamb#ms paint#ibis paint x#firealpaca#clip studio paint

hi i found your page cause of your Masks art!!
imma be running a game of masks and was wondering if you have any tips
Oh hello! Very cool you're gonna run a MASKS game, it can be a lot of fun!
I'm not sure how helpful my advice will be since I'm still learning and am not sure how well I actually run the game haha, but for starters there's a whole lot of great advice on Reddit that will help with the mechanics and the structure of the game. In my opinion, the Principles section in the GM part of the core book is critical and succinct and is great advice for running ttrpgs in general.
my top advice is:
"We play to get the next issue picked up!"
Play the game like we want people to buy the next issue and not put the series down! Take chances! Make big choices! Make it interesting! Be bold!!
other things:
Theme. Establish the themes of your story early on. This will help you understand how the world and story should respond to the PCs. And make the themes interesting to you! For example, beyond the general coming-of-age story themes already built into the character arcs, I lean heavily into the concepts of fame, celebrity, and the 24-hour news cycle. And all the things that were going on in the early 2000s.
Be a Fan of the PCs. This is my favorite rule from The Principles. Make sure all your players soak this rule in. The MASKS mechanics mean characters will often make less-than-optimal decisions, so players must feel supported in their character choices. You should be a fan of the characters, and so should your players! They should want to help bring out every character's arc, not just their own.
Treating Human Life as Meaningful is what Makes Threats Real. This is another principle, but yeah, make the world's NPCs feel like they matter, and that will make the world worth protecting. Treat them as people. Give everyone Drives, not just your Villains. Mentally treating even non-villain NPCs as having Conditions can do a lot to help with characterization.
Condense. Condense your world, your NPCs, make the world feel smaller. In our game, for example, having the Protege's mentor also be the same superhero who saved the Delinquent years ago was a great decision.
Playlists. I have a bunch of different playlists for the campaign, from a big one of music of the time (our game is set in 2004) to playlists for important NPCs, to playlists I asked my players to curate for their characters. Music inspires me a bunch, a song can help create a villain for me, and I also like choosing a different "ending" song for every episode based on whatever happened.
Stories. Okay, here's the thing. I don't really care much for superhero stories. Why did I choose to run MASKS, you ask? Because of the emotion-based mechanics. That's my shit. But anyway, I don't take in much superhero media... But I do LOVE movies and television and stories in general, and I think taking in a lot of "short stories" is helpful to develop an instinct on how to pace a story, make a character or moment memorable, etc. And because MASKS has an episodic nature, this is extremely important! The sheer amount of movies I've watched has helped me a whole bunch, since they have to get the Beginning, Middle, and End done within such a short time frame.
Don't Wait. This is an instinct I've picked up from some of my favorite media. Don't wait for The big important moment. Make a lot of big important moments, and make the characters have to make a lot of important choices, and keep the momentum going. Paint yourself into a corner and then force yourself to think of ways out! It makes the story more interesting. (this may not apply to everyone, I get this kind of mindset from shows like Breaking Bad and Succession, which for your story could be too much haha)
Everyone Works. Okay, I am not a benevolent, sweet GM, I will not smile with tears in my eyes and quietly work away and accept that without complaint. no way. I make my players help me a lot. I'm gonna whine. Guys I'm doing so much work! Guys this is hard! Weeehhh! MAKE THEM HELP YOU. RUNNING A GAME IS SOOOOO MUCH WORK OH MY GOD IT'S SOOOOOO MUCH WORK!!! Ask them to take notes! Ask them to treat the world with sincerity! Ask them to make NPCs! Ask them to play NPCs! Ask them to help fill out the world! Ask them to tell you what their character wants to do next so you have extra time to consider it! Ask them to make playlists for their characters to help you figure out how to engage with them! Don't let them just show up on playday!! I'm a "you get what you give" kind of GM. You're a player too and you deserve to enjoy the game as well, and having the other players help you helps a BUNCH. PUT THEM TO WORK.
what else. uh. visuals help a lot with engagement so i subscribed to a bunch of modern battlemap patreons. i run using Foundry which lists the rules upon every roll which is great for me, someone with horrid memory. if you're lucky and favored by god, you'll have a benevolent player that will be the scribe for your sessions and log everything down so they can be referred back to (again, great for someone like me with a horrid memory). remember to give focus to the PC's out-of-costume lives as well. make NPCs in response to your PCs (superheroes, villains, touch on something of a PC in the creation process). be silly. be serious. be sincere.
i'm still figuring out how to run the game, maybe i'll have better advice on a later day, but i hope this can help some! sorry this is longwinded and more a stream of consciousness than it is succinct.
#ask biji#masks a new generation#ttrpgs#the truth is i have very little idea of what i'm doing#it's my first time running a PBTA game#but i do think the system is quite fun and fits my GM style more than say dnd#but also i'm so serious make your players work#PUT THEM TO WORK#GMING IS SOOOOOO MUCH WORK#okay maybe it doesn't have to be#but for ME it is a whole lot of work#dnd at least has a lot of parts to use#masks on the other hand is a lot of hey just make it up!!#i quite like just making things up but it is an extra mental load#so yeah PUT THEM TO WORK#also if you draw please post your art in the masks tag#my presence there must be diluted

Metamorph
Part I
Pairing: art teacher!Aemond Targaryen x reader (Horror AU)
Warnings: dark!Aemond, obsessive behavior, murder, horror, yandere, kidnapping, misanthropy, general creepy stuff.
Words: 1.5k
Summary: Drawn to the artworks of one of the most esteemed artists in the city, you wish to learn from him and find out what inspires him to create his masterpieces. You have no idea how much his secrets will cost you.
P.S. Unhinged Aemond, my dear Ewan nation! No physical harm done to the heroine, though.
___________
"Are you ready?" He asks you calmly, but you can see his impatience, the way he restlessly looks at you and back at the door leading to one of the smaller studios he always keeps locked at all times. Aemond can't wait to show you something, some other paintings of his he prefers to hide from others, and you feel both intrigued and disturbed by what you will find.
He is a genius, no doubt. One of the best artists of the century, the critics say, and while your city literally consists of art studios and galleries, people speak of Aemond Targaryen with a weird reverence, and his name is constantly on the ear.
His drawings caught your attention the moment you saw them online, mindlessly looking through your feed. It was hard to explain what exactly made you stop and look at them - even after months of attending his course you still couldn't quite put your finger on it - but you saved the pictures, printed them out, and then was staring at them hanging from the wall for days like you had been hypnotized. The ones you stumbled upon first depicted all sorts of buildings, always only in black and white, overgrown with... something. Flowers, vines, some greenery that looked like flesh and bones, painted in vivid red, of course. It was sort of scary... but also sort of not. It was a work of art, not some background picture from a cheap horror movie. The architecture he chose, they way he drew it as if he was recording his own perception onto the paper, each stroke written with his style, perhaps his very soul embedded in it... It was impossible to describe it with words. One had to see it to understand.
So, you had visited a gallery where his works had been exhibited, and since then you were fully supportive of city's infatuation with Aemond Targaryen. There was no way you could stay indifferent to his art, especially considering your own desperate attempts to get better at drawing.
How could he be so expressive while mostly using just black, white and red paint? Most of the time, he wasn't even painting but drawing, making sketches, that sort of thing. And yet you were obsessively saving and printing all of his artworks you were able to spot online. Some you hang on the walls of your apartment, some - the ones that made you held your breath - you kept in a drawer like you were a dragon guarding your treasure chest. One time when your mom accidentally spotted them you literally wanted to fall through the floor. It was... too intimate for sharing with anyone. Despite the paintings and drawings showcased openly in the galleries for everyone to see, they felt like they were your great secret, your own hoard, too precious to even talk about it, less let people see printed artworks you kept hidden in the bottom drawer of your cabinet.
Who was he, the man who brought these breathtaking paintings to life, you had often wondered. How had he done it? How did he make the red paint so vivid, so expressive and yet not vulgar? How could he lay strokes with such precision, but not the same way most artists did? How did he build his compositions that they felt real and surreal at the same time? What sort of magic was that? Everyone around joked he must have sold his soul to the Devil.
When you saw Aemond for the first time, you thought the same thing because he scared the Hell out of you. First, he wore an eyepatch and had a long, ugly scar crossing half of his face. An incident from his childhood, someone whispered to you. Someone had stabbed him in the eye.
This felt disturbing and surreal, too. Stabbed a child in the eye? What the Hell? Wasn't he from some wealthy, upper-class sort of family?
Perhaps, it was one of the reasons why Aemond seemed so sullen and chilly, his only presence making the temperature in the room drop a couple degrees. Despite his obvious attractiveness, it felt like he was an alligator waiting in front of a crowd of stupid bunnies who came to admire his teeth. Didn't help he was dressed in all black, and both his skin and hair were alarmingly white like he wasn't really a human being.
A stupid suggestion, really.
He'd been through some serious shit, someone kept murmuring you in the ear as you stared at the artist, open-mouthed and frozen in place. His dad was really wealthy, but rumors had it he didn't really care about him or his siblings, and his mother was constantly on antidepressants. Then the incident with the eye-stabbing happened, but it was still shrouded in mystery even with journalists trying to dig up the truth for years. After he grew up, Aemond went to study business and started working under his grandfather. Rumours had it he made some crazy money but started hating his life, ended up having serious issues with drinking, and at one point, he suddenly left everything and disappeared.
Whatever happened then was a mystery, too, and the artists never spoke about it in any of his interviews expect for saying that drawing has saved him. Although nothing suggests he is a former alcoholic and had once been homeless thanks to the immaculate way he dresses, you thought there was something in his face that made you wonder if he actually got better. Aemond seemed... very hostile.
But he'a an artist, too, and you've found all of them weird in one way or the other.
Of course, despite the fact that you've been drawing for years, you've never thought yourself an artist. No, no, you just enjoy it as a hobby, and you're nowhere near people like Aemond Targaryen.
But when you heard he opened a drawing course for the general public, you were so frantic about getting in you swore to yourself, regardless how much it costs, you would get in. Even if you wouldn't be eating for the next few years.
Seriously, it was Aemond freaking Targaryen you were talking about. A literal King! He had been the talk of a month even in the capital thanks to his recent dragon paintings collection that was sold in an auction for a ridiculous sum of money. So what if he's scary and had this chilling-to-the-bone stare? Most successful people you knew seemed at least a little frightening. Besides, if anything, you could just drop out of class.
But if you were brave enough to apply, you could have a chance to actually see him at work.
How did his studio look? What sort of routine did he have? What kind of paint and pencils did he use? How had he gotten that amazing crimson color you were trying to replicate for months without any success? What did he use for inspiration?
Clearly, you just couldn't let this opportunity slip away. You had to try to get in.
Surprisingly, the course wasn't even that expensive, sold at nearly the same price as most other art courses as if Aemond was just like any other artist in the city. The problem laid in his way of choosing the students: he requested to see the artworks of applicants to determine whether he'd take them or not.
It nearly put a stop to the whole thing because you were terrified of him seeing your drawings. What would he think about an amateur like you? How could you even dream about coming to him instead of improving your technique first with some other, way less known artists? He was Aemond Targaryen, for God's sake.
But you knew he might never take other students again. He might even move to the capital that would give him much more than your city ever could. What if he just disappeared? It could have been your only chance to see him work.
When he accepted you along with 9 other students out of more than two hundred participants, you thought you were dreaming. How? Why would he? You were far from professional. Goodness, you weren't even planning on becoming a true artist, and it felt like you were cheating on people who did. So, how could he take you, knowing that?
Not that you were going to drop out before the start of the course. Over your dead body. You literally spent the entire week shopping for new materials even though you knew he would give you suggestions later. But how could you show him your pencils and brushes that looked like your dog chewed, ate, and then threw them back up? You'd rather jump from the roof.
___________
Alas, on the first day of the course, you stood there among other students, holding your breath as you watched the door of the studio open. Aemond Targaryen was going to teach you his art.

Chapter 7
A week went by slower than molasses as you stayed in Luda Maeâs room the entire time, only leaving to get a little bit of movement. You were generously allowed to stay at the Hewitt house until your home could be repaired, the entire time you stayed at the house you were weak with a persistent cough from the smoke, so you slept most of the time you were there so that you could recover; Today, you finally feel back to normal.
You had made a call to a company in the next town over who specialized in reconstruction from fire damage, they let you know that the work would take at minimum 4 months to complete and the cost was fairly high; You were fortunate enough to have a large sum of money from Tilly, who left you a dragonâs horde of wealth in her will, so money was not a stressor for once in your life.
Waking up to the sounds of a farm everyday was comforting, the wind blowing through the tall grass, crickets and birds singing songs, chickens and cows going about their business, it was extremely pleasing to hear these sounds every morning. The more you explored the property, the more beautiful you realize it was, despite being banned from viewing certain rooms and areas, there was still so much to see; you could tell that this family was once quite wealthy, they had a large mass of land and the home was enormous, there were fixtures which only the rich could have afforded, they were old and a bit damaged but the extravagance was still there.
You made your way to the kitchen for some coffee and see Luda Mae frying some eggs, she turns to see who entered and smiled when she saw you,
âMorninâ sweetheart! Itâs real nice to see you up and movinâ around this early. Want some eggs? I just been fryinâ some up for breakfast, thereâs also coffee in the pot over by the stove.â She turned back to her frying pan and grabbed a plate to place the eggs onto.
You accept her offer and make your way to the coffee pot, you had been so drained of energy the past week that you always woke up so late and were unable to walk around much without coughing up a storm, today you felt strong. You place your coffee on the table and sit down, the kitchen was quite a decent size much like the other rooms in the house, American houses in the south had such massive rooms, they all felt so spacious.
The kitchen was full of mixed technology from varying eras, the stove and fridge were from the 50âs while the coffee maker and the smaller appliances were all from the late 90âs or early 2000âs. There was a theme to this kitchen which tickled your brain, strawberry themed. The kitchen window was situated in front of the tub style sink, it had white curtains with a red strawberry pattern which just added to the coziness. The walls were colored a salmon pink which beautifully accented the white laminate countertops, you saw that the molding was painted that same soft eggshell white from Luda Maeâs bedroom but the floor was still that dark walnut wood which ran throughout the house.
You turn to Luda Mae and say,
âI feel really bad for staying in your room, I really donât mind sleeping on the couch or somewhere else so you can get your space back.â
She laughs and replies,
âFunny you mention that âcause I have a surprise for you. Been workinâ on it the whole time you been here.â
You were wondering what she got up to everyday, it seemed like she was nowhere to be found whenever you were awake. You even rarely saw Tommy while you stayed at the house, but Luda Mae assured you it was just him wanting to give you space to recover; apparently, he asked about you every day, and would keep watch for whenever you emerged from the room.
You quickly finished your breakfast in the anticipation to see what this surprise was,
âOk Luda Mae, I want to see what you have in store for me and then Iâll come back and do those dishes.â You didnât want to seem like a lazy freeloader, it was the least you could do. She responds,
âYou ainât wasting time doing no dishes while you have your first day of full strength. After I show you what I been workinâ on, you best go outside to get some fresh air.â She smiles at you playfully and takes your hand to guide you to where the surprise was.
You pass the main foyer and make your way through the dining room to reach the edge of the living room where there was a door. You were not allowed to go in the room past that door so you were curious to see what she was hiding, she stops you before you go any further and says,
âOk Y/N, I know you been wonderinâ whatâs behind this here door, and I donât blame you. I want you to close your eyes and donât peek âtill I say so.â
You agree and cover both your eyes with your hands, she guides you through the door and walks you into the room,
âOk now open âem!â she says excitedly.
You open your eyes to reveal a large bedroom, thereâs a queen size bed still covered in its original plastic in the far corner of the room, and a writing desk by a large bay window overlooking the meadow. Large cabinets and wardrobes fill up space on the walls while another set of doors can be seen on the opposite end near the bed leading to the outside patio; The walls are a very old white color with one good size chandelier in the middle of the room dangling from the high ceiling, still with all its crystals in-tact. Your eyes widen and you are struck with awe, Luda Mae squeezes your hand gently and says,
âThis was beinâ used as storage, it was meant to be my daughterâs room from a very long time ago but, I was never fortunate enough to have her.â She looks down at the floor,
âWhat happened?â You ask, not realizing that it may be a touchy subject,
âOh, Iâll tell you that story someday. I want you to know that this room is yours to have, regardless of when your home is fixed, itâll always be here for you.â She smiles at you endearingly and then continues, âAnd you can call me Mae from now on hun, no need to say its entirety, just donât call me Luda.â
You nod and follow with, âHow come you donât like Luda, if you donât mind me asking?â
She shakes her head,
âMe nâ Charlies Pa used to call me that, he was as mean as a starvinâ coyote, liked to hit and berate us both.â
You understood and dropped it, âIâm sorry you went through that, Iâll make sure to just call you Mae then.â
Luda Mae smiles and hugs you with one arm from the side, you match her and hug her with your arm and you both look at the room together side by side.
âI have no words for how grateful I am to have you in my life Mae, you have been like a mother to me and I feel like I could never repay you for your kindness.â You start to feel tears well up in your eyes, overwhelmed with the generosity of this woman.
âTheresâs nothinâ to owe dear, I did this of my own volition. I want you to enjoy it, all I ask is that you start feelinâ like family, because you are.â Her sincerity was enough to make tears stream from your eyes, which she wipes with her handkerchief.
You give her a hug and hold her tightly; you donât know how to thank her but you promise yourself to make her as happy and loved as she has made you feel.
âYouâre such a sweet girl Y/N, I want you to make this here room your home, do whatever you want with it, paint it, move the furniture, hell, whatever your heart desires!â She kisses your head and you release the hug saying,
âWill you help me decorate?â you ask.
Luda Mae looks at you with an excited smile, âI was hopinâ youâd ask!â
-
After the incredible surprise, Luda Mae left to go clean the kitchen and she sent you to go outside to get some sunshine, she handed you a straw hat and said,
âGo on now, explore a bit. Maybe go bug Thomas for a bit, heâd like that.â
You laugh and make your way outside; you start looking around the property and notice a whole lot of things. In one end of the property, behind the house near your new bedroom was the meadow for the cows to graze, next to the house across from the barn was a wheat field, in another end behind the small forest there was what looked like a vehicle graveyard which spooked you a little; there were cars with license plates from all over the U.S. and many different kinds of vehicles in varied states of decay. You decided not to explore that section due to potential hazards; you make your way through to an unexplored part of the property behind the forest which was between the meadow and car graveyard.
This area of the property had some trees around it which gave it privacy, in the middle of this tree perimeter was a large swathe of tall green grass, you found this odd since most of the land you saw was covered in dry, yellow grass. You tried to make your way through the bush, ensuring you donât step on something dangerous, the further in you went the more wet the ground got -this must be where all the ground water is rising up- you felt a sense of excitement as you got closer to the center.
You finally reached a pond; it was fairly large and was surrounded by beautiful native plants. The water was crystal clear; you could see right to the bottom which was modestly deep, there were lily pads dispersed throughout the surface, and tadpoles played in the shallow zones. You felt an overwhelming desire to swim in it, the water was so pure looking that it was like a dream. So, you did.
You took off all your clothes, the surrounding forest shielded you and the Hewitts were all too busy with chores and farmwork to bother coming by, so you felt sure that you would be left alone. The water was a refreshing temperature and it felt amazing on your skin which was sweating from the heat of the day, as you made your way into the deeper parts of the pond you see small fish bolting out of your way, you decided to only go as deep as your shoulders.
You werenât sure how long you were in the pond for, it was too incredible of a sensation to pass up spending time in. The birds sang for you and the water felt so comfortable, the shine of the sun passing overhead left a shimmer effect on the pond surface. You kept your hat on to protect you from the intense rays and you could not have been more relaxed, the small fish now were coming up to your toes and nipping at them which tickled you. Nothing could be better than this, it felt magical.
Back at the house, Luda Mae checked the clock on the wall and called out for you, when she didnât hear a response, she went to ask Charlie if he had seen you.
âI hadnât seen that sweet piece of ass nowhere Luda, I been busy as hell fuckinâ with this damn broken fence.â He was mending the fence by the road all day which had some damage from cows messing with it, he followed with,
âGo ask that kid of yours, I bet he knows where she went. Heâs always tryinâ to get a peep on her. He needs to let off some of that pent up frustration, the boyâs brain is already like mud we donât need him fantasizinâ all day.â
Luda Mae rolls her eyes and heads toward the barn where Tommy was feeding the chickens, she walks up to him and rubs his back asking,
âSon, have you seen Y/N today? She isnât responding when I holler.â
He shakes his head and looks worried,
âCan you go check to see she hadnât gone too far out? I worry she got herself lost. I have lunch ready for everyone too so both of you come on back to eat when sheâs found.â
Tommy nods his head and immediately heads out from the barn to search for you, he began looking around in the wheat field which didnât take long because of his incredible height he could see over all the wheat. He goes to check the meadow but doesnât see you, the car graveyard was next which worried him. When he looked around all the vehicles and didnât see you, he grew more concerned, the forest area had human traps still left in it from the bad days in the past, he was scared that you were stuck in one.
Tommy carefully made his way through the forest, cautious to avoid trap areas, he still didnât see you and this made his heart race. He didnât want to find you hurt and there was a very real risk of that, he paused and tried to listen. The sounds of humming could be heard in the distance, thatâs when he remembered the pond and he bolted towards it as quickly as he could.
When he got to the pond area the humming was just you singing a song to yourself, he thought it was the most beautiful sound in the world. He decided to quietly make his way through the reeds so he wouldnât scare you and stop your singing. For such a bulky man he was incredibly quiet, and with his hushed footing he got past the reeds and saw you in the water, naked.
Tommy immediately turned his head away; he was already intoxicated by your body from the night he saved you from the fire where you had so little clothes on already, and now your body was completely bare. Tommy tried his best to be gentlemanly but his aroused curiosity got the better of him and he just sat there gazing at you like a lion hiding in the tall grass watching their prey.
You looked like a mermaid, your singing was like a siren calling to him, putting him under a spell, he didnât want this moment to end. He couldnât see anything much below your shoulders thanks to the sun illuminating a glittering glow around you, he wanted to black out the sun for hiding your beauty from him.
Tommy couldnât resist moving in for a closer look, he had never seen such beauty in his life, all he wanted was to be with you in this pond sharing in the relaxation and freedom. He wasnât careful where he stepped and his weight was too much for the soft mud shelf to bear, so he fell in the pond making a lot of noise. You let out a scream and turn around to see a large splash, you try to think if thereâs alligators in Texas, and panic sets in.
Tommy got his footing and stood up in the pond, the water in that area was deep for you, but on him it only reached under his pecs. You felt relief at the sight of him, his hair was slick and stuck to his face, he looked like a dog with long fur who was getting a bath, it was cute. Tommy gasped for air and moved his hair from his face pushing it back away from his eyes. You were so taken by him revealing his face again that you didnât move, his dark green t-shirt clung to his chest and revealed erect nipples underneath. You couldnât help but giggle a little bit after he turned his head to you looking embarrassed.
You had the biggest crush on this behemoth of a human, every day last week was like agony not being able to see him, he was all you could think about which helped keep your mind off the memory of the fire. He didnât move from where he stood, he also couldnât stop staring at you, a devilish smirk appeared on your mouth. You move your wet long hair over your chest for modesty and call out to him,
âI didnât know you guys had a paradise hiding on your property.â He rubs the back of his head and looks around nodding, you follow,
âWhy donât you come out of the pond this way, itâs a gradual incline here so it will be easier to get out for you.â
He shakes his head and tries to turn back to get out the way he came, so you push,
âThomas, I can move out of the way if you are too scared to look at my body. Donât put yourself at risk of drowning, just come out this way.â You felt so bold, the magic of the pond gave you a strange confidence, and Tommy being so shy was endearing and only bolstered your sudden jolt of extroversion.
Tommy hung his head and covered his eyes as he made his way past you, he slipped on the slick mud underneath and fell backwards into the water right next to you, splashing you as he went down. You giggled as his head slowly came up from the water, a very annoyed and embarrassed expression on his eyes. He was able to sit with his butt on the pond floor and his head was able to remain above water, he didnât move from being too scared of further making a fool of himself.
Seeing him so close to your bare body made you incredibly aroused, you couldnât help but swim up to him and get between his legs so you could hold onto his chest. You smiled at him and said,
âDonât be embarrassed, I donât think this pond is very friendly to such⌠impressively large men. Why donât you stay a while and just relax in the cool water with me?â
Tommyâs eyes were so wide you thought they would fall out of his head, you saw his cheeks flush and he was breathing heavily, you were close enough to hear his heartbeat which was racing. He had never been this close to a woman before, well, a woman who was alive and willing to be near him, let alone a naked one. You stare into his eyes, they were so full of emotion and deeply blue like the Pacific Ocean on a summer day reflecting the light of the sun on the water, you were mesmerized, you said,
âYou have the most beautiful eyes, Thomas; I could get lost in them.â You reach out to move some stray hairs away from his face.
Tommy was overwhelmed with carnal desire; it was taking a lot of restraint to not touch you and he was worried that if he did, he wouldnât be able to stop. He had never felt this way before, he thought his heart was going to explode from pumping so fast, he could feel his veins throbbing and a very specific organ was painfully pressed against his jeans. When you touched his face, he couldnât take it and instead of just grabbing you and taking you, he got up and ran out of the pond towards the house at lightning speed. The last thing he wanted to do was to hurt you, or overstep a boundary you didnât want him to cross, his head was so full of new swirling emotions, he was drunk on the desire you put in him and it was too alien of a sensation for him to handle.
You watched as Tommy got up and ran away from you, it made you laugh seeing him flustered like that. You knew you were tempting a beast but there was a deep lust and longing inside you that wanted him to let loose and ravish you. You were so erotically excited that your groin was aching for touch, it didnât help that you noticed a massive snakelike shape pressing through his jeans as he got up to escape your spell, the prospect of his size was enough to make you bite your lip thinking about what it looked like freed from the bonds of his pants.
You got out of the pond and put your clothes back on, you made your way back to the house feeling proud of yourself -at least now he must know where I stand- you were looking forward to more overtly flirtatious encounters in the days ahead.

Traffic Life Scars: Pearlescentmoon
All updates will be made to this post specifically as we get new seasons and new final deaths.
Welcome to my series of MS Paint diagrams following the headcanon/concept that every minecraft death leaves a scar, and while most of those do not continue past the end of the server, the final deaths leave permanent marks on the cubito. (And also some other deaths that have significant impact on the story, the cubito, or both, these are extremely rare.) I did take some creative license with the deaths, mostly in the sense of figuring out how to handle Fall Damage in a slightly more realistic context, as well as figuring out approximately where final blows would land based on the respective positioning of the cubitos in question. This project has also shown some interesting patterns in how some of them tend to die. On with the show!
Pearl joined in Last Life where she died to Ren in the battle between the last four standing. She took a lot of damage from her own lava and Ren dealth the final blow. They were actively fighting and facing each other, so the scar is mostly on her front, thought it does hook over her shoulder a bit since Red Life Ren is a bit taller than she is.
Double Life: Pearl has phantom scars from the explosion that Scott used to kill them. Hers are fainter and a bit smaller than his, due to him being the one to die to it directly, but very much there.
Limited Life: Pearl died, again, to Scott, this time underwater, and to a sword rather than an explosion.
Secret Life: Pearl died to fall damage, placing second. She hit her head on the bottom of the hole she fell into, on the side since she fell backwards and twisted just a bit as she fell.
Real Life: Pearl was killed by Cleo, who came at her from the side while she was fighting Scott. Cleo was Very Smol on Real Life, so the scar is low on Pearl's torso and angled up.
