Poppy for N2 au, it took me so long to make her design cuz I didn't really know what I wanted to do only because I feel like her design is pretty perfect.
But then I just thought about fun outfits to give her or outfits that I would find comfortable if I was wearing them and it all came together.
Poppy here is pretty much the same as here movie counterpart, as nothing really changes on her end of things other than having more insight on Branch through his brothers, and through Lief. Shes also a bit more understanding a bit earlier on because of it but it doesnt do much to change her own character arc I would say.
Bonus
Part of Poppys design was based off a design I had made for previous rulers of Troll Village/Tree
Namely Queen Protea who I designed as Poppys grandmother
Tumblr media
Named after the Protea flower which part of her design is based off :D
In the context of this Au Protea was the one who conceptualized the tunnels while her son, King Peppy, was the one to follow through after her death

I cannot imagine being a Damian stan right now. You've got both Zdarsky's bullshit (where he clearly doesn't give a shit about your boy) and The Boy Wonder (where Juni Ba clearly gives so many shits about your boy) coming out on the same day. The whiplash must be insane. I hope y'all get some nice warm soup for your efforts jfc
#damian wayne#damian al ghul#damian al ghul wayne#batman#batfamily#for all of the issues that come with having Steph as your fave having too much wild shit happening at once is never one of them#btw I quite like The Boy Wonder Issue 1. wow shocker an artist and writer who I have liked everything they've ever done#has once again written something that I am enjoying with art that makes me want to be part of its world.#it's almost like Juni Ba is really freaking talented or something#like I have some problems with it but it seems like many of those are part of the point. Damian is learning that his siblings are more#three-dimensional than he realized and that is part of this 'coming of age' story merged with fairytale#so I can't be mad at the oversimplistic defining of Dick and Jason and Tim until the conclusion of the series. that might be the point.#I hope that the series will address Steph as a Robin but if not then frankly it's not an issue unique to this series.#I'll be annoyed and disappointed but ultimately roll with it like I am with Babsgirl being here. There's too much good stuff here to get#hung up on shit that seems to be almost an editorial mandate at this point. at least that's where I'm at.#I am also very sorry that Chip Zdarsky is massacring your boy. he has 'X (Tim for him) is the best Robin so everyone else must suck' diseas#where a writer really likes one specific Robin and in trying to uplift them demeans all of the other Robins. instead of like...just writing#for that one character only or alternatively not demeaning the other characters in order to make his blorbo look good#it's wild because I actually think his writing for Tim is pretty solid. but he's not writing a Tim series. he's writing a Batman series.#and if you are going to write a Batman series and include other Batfamily members you need to actually write them well.#instead of assigning them like 2 personality traits while Tim gets to be a whole character#I accept that behavior in fanfic where I have lesser standards because it's fucking free. not a comic run that wants me to pay#tens of dollars in order to understand what the fuck is going on. he's been going for a while now it's gotta be a lot of money.#I can buy Steelworks with that money. I can see John Henry and Natasha Irons in a trade. Fuck you Chip.#it's why it takes such a special person to write a good ensemble story/a good Batfamily story. you have to be good at writing a LOT#of different characters. which I don't think most people are. I sure as hell am not. I can write maybe 3 at a time confidently well.#and you also have to give all of them at least SOME love or else people will be upset that you aren't focusing on their fave#and also the writing as a whole will suffer. Chip Zdarsky is a pretty good Tim writer. I'd maybe read a Tim solo written by him.#I would not read a story focusing on multiple characters that I like written by Chip Zdarsky. because every character who isn't Tim#is at least a bit weak/inconsistent/out of character INCLUDING FUCKING BATMAN. THE NO. 1 GUY MOST ARE HERE FOR

Literally going insane, might have to write fanfic for the first time in 2 years because the people™️ do not get my favorite female characters like I do and I feel the insurmountable urge to write her. I’m going to bite drywall why don’t ppl see her complexities. PLEASE STOP WRITING HER ETHIER AS DOMICILE MOM OR BITCH (or just for shipping) she is so so cool please guys please.
Also while I’m here, fandoms tendency to shove women in the ‘pure powerful goddess who can do no wrong’ box and then proceed to never give them an actual narrative role other than like ‘supportive’ or ‘took out a few background guys’. Like why DOES this incredibly badass and complex female character just get shunted into doinging some cool flips, getting praised about it (she’s the strongest fighter, so feminist wow) then never getting actnowleged as a 2 dimensional character.
I saw this a lot when I was in the Batman fandom, particularly with Cassandra Cain. She is a highly complex and interesting character, but in fandom she’s kind of shunted to ‘Badass therapy dog who takes care of the men’. Because even on the slight chance her backstory is brought up it’s always never delved into and mostly used to make her etheir more tragic and in need of support on a surface level or to let her be compassionate with the men characters who get their actual problems foucused on. It’s a unqiue kind of frustrating because it’s like almost letting the cool female character be cool, but it’s more like the idea of a badass women is shoved in your face, maybe joked about (or if we’re lucky she gets to beat up a few bad-guys), but ultimately treated like a cardboard cutout. Interestingly this actually isn’t entirely a female character thing, it’s also common with like old grandfather/grandmother characters and the elderly in general. But it’s usually badass women from what I see. :/ Why can’t fandom explore their stories (people do but why is it so much less), why can’t they be the prtags of cool AUs or time-travel fix-its, or crossover events
Idk I think I’m just frustrated, and I typed out more than I thought I would. Also Ive seen what happens to some other posts complaining about fandom misogyny, so please know if you’re a TERF, fuck off you have no place in this discussion. We will never agree, and frankly all of these points apply to canon Trans Women characters. Don’t say shit ill fucking end you.
#This is about Katara Avatar because I peaked into the fandom since I’m rewatching#you don’t get her like I do sorry#Azula too#I could save her#I think Azula needs to go on a time travel fix-it fanfic journey#you don’t even understand#this is also Alpha Undertale (the best written Undertale character)#ALPHYS NOT ALPHA#this is also about Cassandra Cain#but actually I don’t think I could write her well- but the way she’s portrayed in fandom drives me insane#and Steph brown#not dungeon meshi actually- those guys got the lesbians who are winning actually#cassandra cain#probably can tag her#I’m not an avid comic reader but I know she is being done DIRTY by fandom#Fandom misogyny#I actually really like fandom spaces#but I do have to be#fandom critical#at times#More female characters I think are done dirty: Mable pines (She needs a cool time travel fix-it where she has to hide it from her brother)#Urakaka from bnha should be in a toxic Yuri situation w/ Toga- but also should be in the time vortex and should be dropped in a crossover#though the source material there doesn’t treat their women the best so I’ll give some grace to fandom#but if you can give background character 108 his own spin off you can spare some characterization for Urakaka who is awesome#Toriel is actually awesome and I think she should get a solo fic series foucusing on her grief of being a mother again to frisk#also I love Asgore but she owes him nothing and they should stay divorced#I think Mad Mew Mew should just become the 3rd skeleton sibling#I won’t elaborate#that’s most my fandoms down- Deltarune isat Orv and stp fandoms don’t really seems to have this issiue#but Odile and Mirabelle very interesting and I will beam them into your brain

ok I've never posted proper fiction writing on here before but here's a melancholic drabble I wrote about what might've happened if Hilbert survived and if the Hephaestus crews wore dog tags.....
Dog Tags (Deaths of your former self)
Doctor Alexander Hilbert doesn't have a clue how Captain Lovelace found their old dog tags. Something tells him they shouldn't even be on the Hephaestus anymore, the SI-5 should have scrubbed away all evidence of his old crew years ago.
And yet, one afternoon Lovelace shoves her way into his lab, her neck jangling with seemingly five sets of dog tags. He stares in confusion as she shoves one at him, the name on it reads "SELBERG, ELIAS".
"Found these in a box in the storage room. I don't know what the hell they were doing there, but here-" She says as she flicks the dog tags - his old dog tags - closer when Hilbert hesitates to take them. He grabs them after a moment and tucks them into his pocket.
"That's everyone?" He asks, gesturing at all the chains floating around her throat.
"Yup." She says briskly as she turns toward the door, it seems this conversation is done.
But she pauses in the doorway for a moment, barely long enough to notice, wonders to herself, "Does he want anyone else's tags? Does he care? He had been close with- No, it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter for a second what he wants or who he might miss in his own fucked up way. He doesn't deserve any of them." She leaves quickly.
A few very near-death experiences and one very uncomfortable spaceship flight later they're all back on Earth. Goddard hasn't killed them, and they've gone through enough interrogations, signed enough paperwork, and been threatened about the consequences of revealing what happened enough times to finally be allowed to return to society.
He still has his dog tags, though he's not called "Alexander Hilbert" anymore. A new name, a new job, start again, try again, pick up the broken pieces and keep going again. He still has the dog tags, "HILBERT, ALEXANDER", "SELBERG, ELIAS". Dmitri never got his name inscribed in metal and looped around his throat in-case he died. Nowadays he doesn't know if that was a blessing or a curse.
He's not sure what to do with the dog tags. If he was a poetic man he might take them to the coast, any coast, and throw them as hard as he could into the ocean. If he were a sentimental man he might bury them, maybe even find his way back into Russia, trace his way to that small graveyard in the smaller village where his family lies, bury his old selves next to them.
But Dr Hilbert wasn't poetic or sentimental, and neither is he, so he doesn't, it would be a ridiculously impractical waste of time anyways. But, Dr Selberg had his moments of poeticness, and Dmitri Volodin was nothing if not sentimental, for better or worse.
So he does think about it, about traveling to the coast and throwing his dog tags into the sea, no less cruel and deadly than the void of space. He thinks about burying them in cold frosty ground, stumbling his way through a eulogy he can half remember fragments of his mother reciting. He thinks about it, walks through the steps in his head, plans it out, precise as a dissection. But he doesn't, won't, can't act on any of it.
So he keeps the dog tags with him, tucks them into a little bag which he puts in the small pocket on the duffel bag he hasn't let out of his sight or grasp since they returned, full of his surviving research, his most and only prized possessions.
He isn't Dr Hilbert anymore, or Dr Selberg, he won't ever be either of them again, but, he'll keep them with him for the moment. Not indefinitely, he'll dispose of them at some point he promises himself, he must, but not yet, not soon, he'll keep them with him just a bit longer.

omg aisle 10 sounds so familiar ... Do you remember anything about it you can share with me? I randomly thought of a bunch of old creek fics recently (tension tighter than a loaded gun, nonrefundable) and enjoyed going down memory lane

UPDATE!!!
Ffn was down when I posted this and since then aisle 10 has been up again, so here is the link to that

not to be about opera again but to be about opera again. as an art form it has the reputation of being super stuffy and something for snobs who don't know how to have fun only but honestly this was one of, perhaps even THE main theatrical entertainment for centuries. i wish people knew how hard these things can go and how engaging they can be. like characters kill and die and fight wars and (almost) commit human sacrifice left and right. characters fall in love they mourn they're ecstatic they cry they're furious it's an extremely dramatic and emotional art form! and i understand that opera does not appear approachable bc of the general conventions of the art form but i promise old works can be fun and engaging if you go watch them with some preparation beforehand (reading the libretto helps) - not to mention not all operas are old bc there are so many modern operas which engage with topical events! also the music slaps.
#le triomphe de trajan (1807) out here calling for a man's execution with this banger:#point de grace pour ce perfide; que tout sons sang coule sur un autel#(no grace for this treacherous man; let all his blood flow on an altar)#this is also annoying to me when people write historical fic and the characters treat the opera as this elitist thing#that they don't know anything about.#you know when they go to the opera reluctantly and then they have no idea what's going on on stage or who the composer is.#which is. very unlikely for anyone with the money to attend an opera in certain opera houses in the 19th c. tbqh#like im more of an expert on paris and vienna idk what it was like in london#but if you were decently (upper) middle class or nobility (esp in paris) you went regularly. this was like a whole social space too#i recently read a fanfic and one of the characters was like 'oh it's in italian. i don't know that' and the other character went like#'it's by a man called donizetti what did you expect'#(this was situated in 19th century london)#like first of all. donizetti was NOT a librettist he was a composer he did not write the text#and second of all. he worked on french operas ?? so did rossini. and spontini.#opera was an incredibly international art form. also bc productions would be performed in different countries all the time#(sometimes changed and/or translated but not necessarily)#and again like i said. this was one of THE main forms of entertainment. people were familiar with its conventions! it was well-liked!#ofc bc of the seating prices it was not very accessible to lower classes most of the time#but lbr most characters that get written into an opera scene in fiction are at the very least decently bourgeois lol#i wish people knew how to properly historicise forms of entertainment whose reputation has changed in the modern era#from what it was a century or more ago#very adjacent to people 'cancelling' old lit bc of 'bad takes' like idk how to tell you this but people thought different back then#completely different world view from what we have today. that does not make lit from that era irredeemable it is just from a diff. time#acknowledging that and reading the text critically but also still enjoying it are things that go tgt here#ok rant over (it is never over)#curry rambles

okay. calling all yandereheads. does anyone know any stories that has a yandere but like they have a sidekick (that doesnt really want to be their sidekick but is forced into it and decides to make the most of their situation and ends up acting like a silly friend to them) and at first they hate their sidekick and want their ass dead but keep em around bc their sidekick helps them stalk their crush but then the story does a switcharoo where the yandere realizes sidekick is their #truelove and goes yandere for sidekick
#THIS CONCEPT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL IDK WHY NOBODY DOING IT#LIKE THIS WOULD WORK REALLY FUCKING WELL AS A COMEDY SLICE OF LIFE MANGA I KNOW IT (except in execution the yandere probs never falls in#love with sidekick 🙄)#BUT I NEED TO SEE IF ANYBODY HAS MADE THIS EXCEPT THEY GO ALL IN WITH THE YAOI#im sorry im asking because the demons are taking over again#since this trope has had a gorilla grip on my brain ever since my depressive episode got really bad that one time so i was on wattpad right?#and i was lookin at yandere x readers because i needed to feel middle school joy again but then i found one that was Unironically Good.#i kept reading it bc the yanderes name is the name of my fucking dead grandfather and i thought that was really funny and it was well#written but kinda shitty at the same time bc it wasnt aids to read but it was japanese setting that Was Very American#and (y/n) [that i named yosuke] is actually such a good charactee bc he doesnt give a fuck about anything hes like shang qinghua HES SO#LIKABLE AND FUNNY HES EATING SHIT EVERYDAY AND FEELS LIKE A COMIC RELIEF ITS SO GOOD#oh also for this fanfic i checked the authors acc and saw they had disappeared for months and i was like lol i guess they got hit by a car#and then i found out they actually did#but anyways yeah that fanfic is my enemy though bc its so good but still so fucking shameful and i refuse to get anybody into it#SO THATS WHY I NEED SOME MEDIA TO TAKE THAT PREMISE AND USE IT TO ITS FULL POTENTIAL AGAIN#BC SOMEONE HAS TO TOP THE FUCKING YANDERE X READER WATTPAD FANFICTION#PLEASE#AUWGJSJDKSKSKS THAT FUCKING FANFICCCCC...... So GOOD.... <-(demons are winning)

Hi,
What do you reckon Harry’s post-canon relationship is with Albus Dumbledore’s portrait(s)?
Hi! For the short answer I would say "they infrequently communicate and are on pretty good terms, for a man and a portrait".
It's strange, but I never imagined Dumbledore having any other portraits outside of the Hogwarts one. Not because he didn't deserve them or people didn't want him to be everywhere, but because I feel like to the end, his first priority and interest would have been staying within Hogwarts' walls.
It's why the Cursed Child ideas of him being in at least... three places?... and wizads using his name as a Merlin-level prayer/expletive barely 30 years after his death made me go "uhhh. NO". And not just because Dumbledore's portrait being in Harry's office makes one of the CC conflicts not make sense because the chapter where they 'settle their differences' would have happened years earlier. (Unless I'm recalling that wrong.) The authors may be better at understanding Dumbledore in some aspects than 90% of the fandom, but they did NOT get that right. Dumbledore wasn't even deified like that when he was alive. Lots of people would soften him postmortem, sure, but there'd be shit-stirrers like Rita too even long after. His death would have been seen in a similar way to real historical figures. You don't see anyone (sane) deifying Thomas Jefferson or Martin Luther King Jr. (I'm sorry, I don't know enough about UK history to name relevant figures...)
But back to the question!
Harry came to a place of understanding Dumbledore and choosing to trust his motives and plans relatively quickly in Deathly Hallows (a few months), but I do think that he would still be working things out once the dust settled and Voldemort's lackeys were all rounded up. I think he probably wouldn't visit a lot. We know he didn't go back to Hogwarts to finish his education for some effing reason, so I could see him dropping by the office after Hermione's graduation to chat. Then I could see Harry not talking to Dumbledore's portrait again until he was about to get married or have his first child. Just kind of sharing milestones with him without getting too close or personal.
Some of this might be because he still wouldn't be sure (in a world where CC doesn't happen) whether or not Dumbledore loved him or not, even though he now knows that Dumbledore had hope that he would survive since Goblet of Fire. I think the answer to "does Dumbledore care about me" is a far more important question to Harry than the fandom's "did he know I would die and set me up to walk the path Voldemort put me on". We all know the answer to the latter already. Harry cares about the former.
Harry also knows that portraits are a mere shell of the people they're painted for. You notice the way he and Sirius don't pay Walburga Black much mind in year 5? If we go by fanon, Sirius should be overcome with Angst instead of irritation every time he has to put up with her, but he isn't because he knows it's not her. It's just an impression of her left behind to comfort (or confound) the living.
Harry, who by the end of the story has faced death more profoundly than most people alive, does not need the same kind of comfort or reassurance that other characters might glean from portraits. It's why he doesn't ask for talking pictures of his parents, why he doesn't chat much with the headmasters' portraits, and why we only get pangs of sadness from him seeing Dumbledore's portrait for the first time in year 6 and a few reassuring lines from him to Dumbledore's portrait in year 7 after everything's over. Harry's already talked with the real version of Albus and said everything he needs to say. In my opinion, the rest of his life would just be checking boxes until they get to meet properly again.

Every time I see a 'Tara cheats on Willow with Buffy' scenario:
Which is a surprising bit, I just think that if you want Dark Willow to have an entirely valid axe to grind and to be pushed with the straw that breaks the camel's back in Season 4 or 5 that's exactly how you'd get it. Willow forgave Tara pretty swiftly for the events of Family......because in the end there was no literally smacking her in the trauma button with a sledgehammer. This scenario, after the way things ended with Oz, would 100% be that.
Though if I wrote it, it'd be the same casual 'secrets for me, transparency for thee' standard Tara kept up and biting her and Willow just shrugs, moves to L.A. and stays there quite happily and leaves the Scoobies to themselves in Season 4 and avoids the whole Dark Willow thing entirely while being drawn into everything with Angel Investigations instead thinking she was out but whoopsie.
Since it's also Willow I see her doing this in radio silence and deciding to repay the same treatment with compound interest and one fine day her friends just realize she didn't show up for a while and then she's in Los Angeles doing her own thing and leaving people to the mess they made in Sunnydale. Would it be an entirely rational response? No. This would reopen old wounds with someone who really didn't handle them well in the first place and as Willow gains the power to do increasingly greater damage without the Hellmouth to screw with her magic, she'd have no real reasons to go back to Sunnydale at all.
Doesn't mean the Scoobies would just sit back and accept this or that either Buffy or Tara would admit that maybe it was playing with fire to do this in the first place given canonically Buffy has the self perception of a rock and Tara at multiple points is a shameless hypocrite, though her own bad actions never went to 'destroy the world in a suicidal spasm' levels as Willow's did.

'Ranveer Khan of India' such an interesting name, very likely is a mishmash of two Bollywood actor names (Ranveer Singh? Ranbir Kapoor? + SRK? Aamir Khan? Salman Khan? Any other Khan) but also on the level of Gauri Khan's name with connotations of inter-religion/community family situation that I'd really like backstory about

the results of that "is fanfic a book" poll have shown me one thing and its that this site never graduated past that absolutely insufferable phase in 2013 where everyone acted like every book is the single most sacred thing on earth
#sorry rant incoming. you know like the people who got way too offended over dog earing or carving books for art or things like that?#that's what the notes section of that poll feel like. just way too many people (on both sides) putting way too much importance on Books.#like first you have the 'um ive read fanfic that was deep and beautiful and thematic so yes all fanfic is books' votes#which like. ok. ive also read really deep thematic screenplays but that doesnt make it a book its simply not. what a book is#then you have the honestly even worse 'um your reylo au isn't like the works of the masters its not REAL BOOKS' crowd#which like. yeah most actual published books are not as good as the 'works of the masters' whatever that means. so you have proven nothing#which brings us back to the absolute worst of all 'colleen hoover & co aren't books either' SOMEHOW#like. ok well i think her work is pretty bad but it was literally edited and published into literal books so#if you're going to decide that you get to be the arbiter of what books are Good Enough to count as Real Books well you've lost already.#because no that's not how any of this works. youre fighting one of the most famous Losing Battles in all of art discourse.#a book is just. a format that writing can be in its not some holy status you have to work to acheive#and to try and turn it into that is really stupid and self important i think because like again#who gets to decide what books are Real? what motivates them to make that choice? what biases are benefited from that?#i think its worth noting in conversations like this everyone wants to deny female romance authors the title of Real Book#(which yes a lot of those books are very shallow or badly written. many have outright offensive tropes)#but nobody mentions the equally shallow and offensive stuff by/for men. like william johnstone's shitty cowboy books for example.#no matter how you try to frame it youre going to lose the second you decide something has to fit your standards to be real art.#avpost#its very reminiscent for me of the conversation around modern art where people just want to say they know what is and isn't real art#based on like whatever standards they want. 'ugh its just dots it's not real art'. do u see where im coming from.#a book is just. a piece of writing that was edited and published in the form of a physical book. that's it. its a v literal if vague noun.#it can be something with a lot of depth and meaning. it can be shallow and hacky. it can be nonfiction entirely. its not a value statement#which can also be said about art as a whole some of it is very shallow and bad. some of it is extremely skilled and profound#anyway. no fanfic isn't inherently books but some fanfics have undergone editing & publishing and became books i think#and that doesnt mean that they're 'as good as' the classics by really skilled writers. but theyre still books#tbh a lot of the published fanfic books are worse than most nonbook fanfic. them being books isnt a statement of being more valuable.#its just a literal fact.#i think its interesting to discuss but i swear its not a huge deal whether fanfic is books the bigger deal to me is#the weird attitude popping up on both sides. which i think most people would also find stupid if their brains hadnt been like#totally ruined by an uninterrupted 5 years of insufferable-on-all-sides fanfic discourse that has ruled this website.

the fact that the marauders fandom treats altyd, an explicitly au fanfiction, as “canon”, referring to it for characterisation + background characters like grant, who is at this point just a character and not an oc, inspires both joy and frustration to me daily
like on one hand that’s hilarious
on the other hand i dont like altyd
