Dungeon Bats
Animagus!Snape x Animagus!Professor!Reader Wordcount: ~1000 Summary: Severus Snape thinks the Muggle Studies professor is strange only to find out she is an animagus with an awfully familiar form.
Tumblr media
Read here or on ao3
The Muggle Studies professor was strange.
Hogwarts always had its fair share of odd characters occupying teaching positions. Even a ghost, evidently, was capable of teaching. But he couldn’t place what it was about you that made him so suspicious.
You were human, not like Firenze or Professor Binns. You weren’t kooky like Hagrid or Professor Trelawney. Outwardly, you appeared perfectly normal. However, there were oddities if one looked closely.
You ate fruit. Lots of it. Every day at breakfast, instead of toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, things the other teachers would partake in, your breakfast consisted of fruit and only fruit, including a cup of pumpkin juice. Your plate appeared almost like a small pyramid, stacked with cubes of cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, honeydew, and grapes, leaving behind a pool of sweet juices when consumed.
You also had a tendency to pop up and disappear seemingly out of nowhere. One time he went into your classroom to talk to you about moving a couple of detentions around only to find it empty, having swept his gaze around it. Just as he approached your office door to knock on it, you uttered a soft “hello” as you stood in the middle of the classroom, making him jump out of his skin.
Furthermore, Filch had brought up to him once that he could hear some perplexing screeching noises echoing from random parts of the castle at night and even what sounded like right outside the windows. What was strange about it is he only brought them up the morning after you were scheduled to perform rounds.
This wasn’t to say he disliked you. Quite the opposite. Out of everyone in the castle, he’d say he preferred your company. Who he'd rather sit next to at Quidditch games? Probably you. Even though you were the Muggle Studies teacher, you had plenty of knowledge about Care for Magical Creatures and DADA. Potions weren’t your forte, but you’d happily let him ramble about the subject, even when he’d realize too late that he was rambling.
“Why do you eat so much fruit?” he asked one day when you came into his classroom eating a sliced-up apple.
“Oh, uh, that’s just my animagus urges. Sorry, am I dripping juice on the ground again?”
He blinked dumbly at you. “You’re an animagus?”
You chuckled, “You didn’t know, Severus? I thought Minerva would’ve told you. Yes, I am an animagus.”
“What animal?” he asked. You smirked and set down the apple slices on a nearby table before shifting. Your robes moved with you, swishing up and shrinking until you took the form of a fruit bat. You flapped and swooped about the air in a few circles before landing on the flat surface of the table, using your talons and thumbs hooks to wriggle toward your sweet fruit.
“You’re a fruit bat,” he observed. You screeched at him in confirmation and began to gingerly gnaw on the flesh of the nearest apple slice. Severus remained quiet for a little, seemingly thinking to himself as his fingers flexed and his jaw clenched slightly. Much to your curiosity, he wordlessly set his wand down and took a deep breath. Within a flash, his robes swooped around him, and in his place was a fruit bat, just like you, but bigger. He flapped his wings just hard enough to get him onto the table as he landed with an audible thud. It was pretty much impossible for bats to take flight without launching from a tree or a high-up place.
[Woah! You’re a bat too? That’s awesome! Is that why students call you a “dungeon bat?”]
[Yes, I am an animagus whose form is also a bat, and no, that’s just a coincidence.]
[How come you’re so much bigger than me?]
[You don’t exactly tower over me, Y/N.]
From then on, the two of you would sometimes go on day flights if both of you had some free time. While both of you wished to fly at nights, you still needed time to sleep and perform your teaching duties during the day. However, your favorite times were when the both of you were scheduled to do rounds. Your classrooms were on opposite sides of the castle so it was almost like a game to use echolocation to find each other in the dark and meet up. It was a little fun considering the dungeons were almost maze-like. If the two of you were sure that no students were out and about, you’d ditch your duties, ascend up the Astronomy tower, and take off into the night sky, playfully chasing one another or showing off flying moves.
Severus hardly used his form unless it was necessary. It’s not like one got to choose which animal they could shift into. Admittedly, he was a bit let down when he first shifted all those years ago, but with you he learned to embrace his batiness, though he still resisted such urges when it came to eating a castle’s worth of fruit. He liked flying, of course, but he found that he quite liked hanging upside down too, especially when he needed a break from grading or just wanted a change of scenery. Sometimes he’d come hang around your office when you were grading and vice versa.
Dumbledore came to visit his classroom one late afternoon to talk about a particularly unruly Slytherin, but could not find the potion master anywhere, not even in his office. It was rather dark, all the lamps extinguished and curtains drawn. What he did notice, however, was two wands haphazardly tossed onto the stone ground near Snape’s desk, one of which he recognized as your wand. Dumbledore craned his neck up towards the ceiling where an old chandelier hung and sure enough, hanging from one of the rungs was a large fruit bat, and swaddled in its wings being held close to its fur, a smaller fruit bat. The both of you were napping. The old wizard smiled at the sight and slowly receded back through the doorway, happy that Severus had finally found a little bat of his own.

Over-the-top 2022 modern mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Fl has 6bds, 11ba, 11,812 sq ft, and comes completely furnished for $47.9m.
Tumblr media
it looks like the lobby of an office building with the elevator on the left. This floor is so huge, there's no way that you could Swiffer it. You'd need a Zamboni or something.
Tumblr media
Since it comes fully furnished, this display cycle under the stairs must come with it.
Tumblr media
Look at the lighting in the ceiling. This area is so huge, you could have a lot of company at one time, but they would be spread out all over the place.
Tumblr media
Lots of marble and glass.
Tumblr media
Look at the big bottle of wine on the lawn. That's different.
Tumblr media
Speaking of lawn, what is it doing on the ceiling?
Tumblr media
Look at how long the fireplace is. More lawn on the end table. I don't like that, it looks cheap.
Tumblr media
The piano looks small in this huge space.
Tumblr media
A kitchen that doesn't really look like a kitchen. All those bulbs above the counter.
Tumblr media
Dining table next to the kitchen.
Tumblr media
A full sized wet bar is a must in a home like this.
Tumblr media
So, you get this modern pool table with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not sure I like the wood ceiling, although it's better than the Astroturf.
Tumblr media
Now, this is the primary bedroom. Look at the black and gold upholstered feature wall.
Tumblr media
Not really liking those 3 things In the wall.
Tumblr media
Gigantic ensuite.
Tumblr media
Here's another bedroom. This one's nice.
Tumblr media
I even like the ensuite better.
Tumblr media
Sauna with a starry ceiling.
Tumblr media
Separate hot tub- there's also another one in the pool.
Tumblr media
Look at the wall of water.
Tumblr media
That's not a helipad, it's for drones. The lot is only .37 acre, so you're not paying for the land. Maybe you're paying for the water.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder if this boat is considered part of the furnishings.

BuckTommy Positivity Week Day 1/3 : what they love most about each other/meeting the friends and family
Slowly making my way through the @bucktommypositivityweek prompts! I'm not normally a big fan of shovel talks, but I thought Tommy deserved his own moment where his friends show up for him and have his back (and so does his boyfriend).
The bar was pretty much exactly like Buck expected it to be: plastered with an assorted collection of knick-knacks, military plaques, and wall art that Buck will just call inspired–fighting each other for wallspace all the way up to the low T-bar ceiling. The main source of light came from the ionized glow of the neon beer signs and the stained glass fixtures over the billiards tables that looked like they hadn’t been updated since the 70s. Buck was pretty sure he’d spotted at least three fire code violations just walking through the doors–but that wasn’t what tonight was about.
A small section tucked between the fleet of pool tables and the dart boards had been reserved for their party, and from his spot at the bar Buck had a clear view of where Tommy was leaning against his pool cue, his posture the most relaxed it’s been since they’d hit Grand Junction as he laughed with the group of men gathered around him.
Buck couldn’t help but smile. The longer they’d driven, the more tense Tommy had become, and Buck had begun to worry that maybe this hadn’t been such a great idea after all. Now he felt like he could finally breathe; they’d booked it up the 15 and onto the 70 on the way here, and Buck was looking forward to taking their time on the way home, finding the scenic routes and exploring the one road towns and tacky tourist traps they stumbled across. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d taken a week off work that hadn’t been the result of a near-fatal injury.
“You know you’re the only person he’s ever brought to one of these,” came a voice to his right, one that Buck had only recently become familiar with.
With great pain, Buck drew his attention away from Tommy to the person settling in at the bar beside him. Dave. He was the only one of the guys here that had been with Tommy since Fort Irwin. He had a wife and two daughters and a boxer named Jones–all information Buck had learned, not from the man himself, but during their three day drive from L.A. to Colorado Springs–which Tommy had used to give Buck a rundown on pretty much everything he knew about his old battalion mates from their rank down to their dental records.
“I’m happy to be here,” Buck said, meaning it. He hadn’t been expecting an invitation, taken completely off guard when Tommy had asked him so casually, as they got ready to head out for work one morning. He’d presented it like it would just be a good excuse for a fun road trip and not what Buck was starting to piece together in his head was actually a monumental gesture. Either way, he’d agreed immediately.
Dave was watching him like he was trying his best to punch through Buck’s skull and peer directly into his brain. Buck had a feeling Dave hadn’t really made up his mind about Buck–yet–and if there was one thing he was going to change by the end of the night it was that.
“Tom said you’re also a firefighter.”
Buck twisted in his chair so they were facing each other. “Yeah, actually I’m at Tommy’s old station, transferred in not long after he left. Kind of funny how things work out, eh?”
“I’ve heard stories,” Dave said in a tone that implied not all of them were good.
“It’s not like that anymore,” Buck assured. Gerard’s second reign of the 118 had been over for a while now and Buck had been informed by Hen and Chimney that although it had been unbearable, with more eyes on him, Gerard had not been nearly as bad as the first time around.
“I’ve heard that too.” The corner of Dave’s mouth ticked up. That was the most charitable he’d been thus far. “Tommy has a lot of good things to say about the new crew there, especially you.”
Buck wasn’t above preening a little at that. He knew all about bragging about his partner to anyone that would listen. He was practically a pro at it at this point. If anything he and Tommy had a little competition going on at this point.
Dave’s eyes flicked over Buck’s shoulder and back. “Listen, I don’t want to overstep here because Tommy will be fuckin’ pissed at me, and I’ll never hear the end of it–but, you seem like a nice guy, and I just want to make sure you know what a big deal this is. These shindigs used to host a few more bodies before Tommy came out. Just don’t hurt him.”
He could hear Tommy’s laugh, the full-bodied, knee-slapping one he only did when you really got him cracking up or he was about three pints in, or both, floating over the din of the bar. Buck could pick that laugh out of any crowd. He could follow it home.
Dave was watching him with a curious expression, and maybe Buck hadn’t totally won him over yet, but he had a feeling they were at least moving in the right direction.
“I won’t. And I–I won't let him know you gave me the shovel talk if you rat me out either, because he doesn't know this yet and I want him to hear it from me first, but Tommy's one of the most amazing people I've ever met. He's one of the first people I've been with in a long time that makes me feel like I can be myself, unconditionally, and I just hope I make him feel the same way, because I love him.”
“I think it’s safe to say he does.” The corner of Dave’s mouth twitched up in the amused beginning of a smile. “But you should probably let him know that instead of me, just saying.”
Buck rolled his eyes as Dave clapped him cordially on the shoulder. It looked like he wasn’t off the hot seat yet.
He held out his glass and was pleased when Dave clinked them together. It was progress.
///
It was 1 am when they finally made it back to their motel, the latest Buck had been out in a good long while. He’d taken the keys from Tommy before they’d even left for the evening and now he was swooping around the cab of the truck to catch his boyfriend as he nearly tumbled out of the passenger side door.
“Easy there,” Buck said as he tried his best to steady Tommy on his own two feet, a task more difficult than it sounded.
“I think I lost my keys,” Tommy moaned as Buck grabbed his jacket and locked up.
“No, see I’ve got them right here.” He jangled them in Tommy’s face and watched him grin before slipping them into his own pocket. “Don’t worry I’ll give them back to you later, here let me help you out.”
He slipped his arm around Tommy’s waist, pulling him a little tighter against his side than was probably necessary.
Tommy’s clutched at his shoulder, melting against him. “You’re so nice to me.”
“What else would I be?” Buck chuckled as he steered Tommy towards their room. He was just glad that Tommy was a placid, happy drunk–if a little handsy. “Come on big guy, let’s get you to bed.”
It was a struggle to get the door unlocked and Tommy through it with two-hundred odd pounds of boyfriend hanging off him, trying to worm his fingers under Buck’s shirt and breathing hot and damp against the juncture of his neck.
When they finally stumbled inside Tommy starfished onto the bed, the poor old motel mattress groaning in protest beneath his weight.
At least he looked like he wasn’t about to try and get up any time soon.
The soft hum of the window AC unit filled the room, a pleasant contrast to the guitar riffs of the hair bands the bar had played all night. Buck filled up two cups of water, leaving one on his bedside table before settling down on the mattress beside Tommy and nudging him until he sat up.
“Here, drink this,” he said and helped Tommy tilt the glass up to his mouth without spilling it all over himself.
Tommy was pawing at him as soon as Evan’s hands were free. “Evan, Evan–” he said, reaching out to grip Buck’s face with both hands, pulling him closer. The special smile Buck was beginning to learn was just for him, creasing his face. “You wanna hear a secret?”
“Of course, anything,” Buck said, letting himself be manhandled and feeling real goopy and affectionate about it.
“I love you,” Tommy said, with a lot of eye contact and the sort of drunken earnesty that made Buck’s heart just about trip out of his chest. Then Tommy frowned, his gaze going unfocused. “I’m going to be really sad if we break up.”
Buck allowed himself a chuckle at the sudden, unwarranted disappointment in Tommy’s expression. “Me too, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
“Really?” Tommy asked, perking up.
“Really. I love you too, and I’m going to remind you of that tomorrow when you forget all of this in the morning.”
“I won’t forget,” Tommy insisted.
“Okay, whatever you say, boss.”
Buck went to the bathroom to hit the head and brush his teeth and by the time he returned Tommy had managed to wrestle out of his shoes and his pants, still spread out across the covers in his shirt and socks like a massive toddler. Buck shook his head, ditching his own shirt. Tommy reached out, making grabby hands at him as Buck kicked off his jeans and crawled under the sheets beside him. He was instantly wrapped in an only slightly sticky bear hug.
He pressed a kiss to the cowlick at the top of Tommy’s head. “You’ve got some pretty great friends.”
With more awareness than Buck expected in his current state, Tommy said: “I hope Dave didn’t bother you too much tonight, I could tell he was giving you the third degree for a bit there.”
“Dave and I are cool,” Buck assured. “I’m glad you have guys from back then who’ve still got your back.”
Tommy went quiet for a bit after that and Buck was just figuring out how he was going to wiggle out from beneath his boyfriend without waking him to turn off the lights when Tommy muttered, “I’m glad you came with me. I was tired of coming to these by myself.”
“Any time you want, I’ve got your back too you know,” Buck whispered, holding Tommy tight in the cradle of his arms.
“I know,” Tommy said, and Buck fell asleep to the thump of Tommy’s heartbeat pressed against his own.

ExWidow Russian Girlfriend Problems?
One-Shot - 1775 Words Natasha/GNreader - Yelena/Kate Fluff inspired by the classic -’do you like me=we are married’- incorrect quotes
It was a quiet night at the complex, a rare moment when almost everyone had left to be with their families for the long weekend. It was Natasha's turn to hold down the fort, which, of course, meant that you both remained behind. Across the room, she was immersed in a game of pool with Yelena, her laughter and competitive spirit lighting up the space, while you lounged on the couch, lost in the details of the most recent mission reports. Meanwhile, Kate and America had finally abandoned their barstools after what felt like endless attempts to perfect their knife and glass balancing trick. You were thankful, really—the persistent clatter of knives hitting the table had started to wear on your nerves.
“Goodnight, everyone!” America called out, waving as she made her way to the elevator. You all paused to acknowledge her departure, and before diving back into your tablet, you glanced at Natasha. She caught your gaze, then winked and blew you a playful kiss. With a small smile, you mimed catching it and tucking it away in your pocket.
“Wow, that might be the cheesiest thing I've ever seen,” Kate exclaimed as she claimed a spot on the couch beside you.
“If it is, you really need to watch more movies,” you quipped, before diving back into your work. As Kate got comfortable, you noticed her eyes fixed intently on the pool match unfolding across the room. After a few moments, you set the tablet aside and turned your gaze to her.
“What’s on your mind, Bishop?”
“Oh, me? Uh, yeah, nothing, just, you know, chillin’.”
“Look, I know we haven't known each other long, but I’d like to remind you I’m not THAT much older than you,” you said playfully, smirking. “We can still be friends, even if I have to be a little bossy during training and all that.”
“Right, yeah. It’s just that I’m still getting used to being on a team with the people I used to admire on TV,” she admitted, a sheepish look crossing her face.
“Trust me; we have the same everyday problems that anyone else does. So if you’ve got something on your mind, feel free to share—like maybe now, since you’re obviously dwelling on something.”
“Okay, okay,” she sighed, swirling the last of her drink in contemplation. “I was just thinking… you two have been together for, like, a long while, right?”
“I think most people would say so, yes,” you chuckled, adjusting your position to face her more fully. “So, it’s an Ex-Widow Russian Girlfriend kinda dilemma?”
“What? No! I mean, Yelena isn’t my… ah, we aren’t… is it that obvious?”
You couldn't suppress a laugh, shaking your head. “If I had to use one word, Kate, it would be—painfully.” You watched as the blush in her face began to dim. “I know things were a bit rocky at the start, but honestly, we’ve just been waiting for you to tell us for a couple months now.”
“Oh,” she paused, taking a sip of her drink, her gaze fixated on Yelena before returning to you. She shifted closer on the couch, her voice dropping to a softer beat. “Okay, so it’s like… ugh, yes, we’re dating, right? But are we? I asked her, and she said yes, so we did that, but then we kept hanging out, and it feels like dates, but we don’t actually say it, and she’s, like, really closed off but also super flirty, depending on who’s around. I just don’t know if it’s real or just… ugh, I don’t even know!”
“Mmmm, well that sounds about right. Look, I’ve only known Yelena for a couple of years longer than you, and that’s just her vibe. But I get what you’re saying. I don’t know much about your childhood, Kate, but I think we can both agree that theirs is a whole other story, and obviously, all that comes with a lot of trauma. None of us here are free of that burden, but for them, it runs deeper. Generally speaking, that history means they aren’t used to being loved or allowing those feelings, so it can take time to break through. And our line of work doesn’t help. We are painfully aware every day of how caring for someone can lead to hurt—for both you and them. So, gradually breaking down your walls to embrace love? It’s a heck of a challenge. It took me ages to figure out how to navigate my own way through.”
Kate nodded, her understanding evident in the glint of her eyes as she absorbed your words.
“You know, it still feels so bizarre to have people seeking my dating advice. I never saw myself as that person,” you admitted.
“But you two are just so perfect together; you mesh like seamlessly,” she observed, a hint of envy lacing her tone.
“That’s sweet, but it didn’t always look like this, you know. Just like everyone else, we have our struggles. We knew each other for years before we finally got our act together. We’re certainly not perfect; we’ve had our share of ups and downs, disagreements, mess-ups, and fights. But we chose to work through them. I do get that they come off as intimidating—not sure if it’s a Russian, assassin, or spy thing, but yeah, they can be a little abrasive at times, I won’t deny that.”
You both shared a warm smile, a mutual understanding passing between you.
“Sometimes, the people who seem the most indifferent are actually the ones who care the most. It’s just their wall protecting them because they’re unsure if it’s safe to open up and allow themselves to care. Each person has their own way of navigating that. But there’s one thing I can definitely tell you specifically about those two,” you added, eyebrows raised in intrigue.
“I’ll take any insight I can get,” she said quietly, leaning in.
“They don't put on an act when they don’t have to. Unless it’s for a mission, they aren't the type to hang around to fulfill social expectations. Yelena wouldn’t spend time with you if she didn’t genuinely want to, trust me. She wouldn’t bother to invest the effort if she didn’t care.”
“I just wish she would talk to me more,” Kate lamented, her voice tinged with frustration. “Like, just tell me that.”
“Yeah, that can definitely take time, but they’re pretty direct when it matters. If you haven’t noticed, those two are not shy about telling it like it is. So… you could always just ask her.”
A loud burst of energy erupted from the pool table, and you turned to see Natasha reveling in her victory while Yelena sulked in defeat. You stood, turning back to Kate before heading over.
“Maybe you should start by just telling her how you feel and that you just want to know how she does,” you suggested nonchalantly. “Sometimes you just have to embrace the cheese.” She nodded, a shy smile crossing her lips as she joined you in moving toward the pool table.
“Hey, Natasha, quick question for you,” you called out, approaching the duo. She turned, an eyebrow cocked in curiosity. “I was just wondering—do you like me?” you asked, a teasing grin spreading on your face.
“I asked you to marry me,” she replied, rolling her eyes, a smirk playing on her lips.
“Yeah, but was that like a friend thing or a love thing?”
“You’re ridiculous,” she replied, laughter bubbling beneath her teasing tone as she shook her head.
Stepping closer into her space, you wrapped an arm around her waist, bringing your face an inch from hers. “And you secretly love it.”
“Not so secret,” she murmured, lips brushing against yours before you both melted into a gentle kiss, her arms wrapping around your neck while yours slid up her back, leaning into each other for a moment until Yelena’s voice broke through.
“Ugh, get a room!” she groaned.
You both smiled into the kiss and then pulled away just enough to meet her gaze. “But it’s so much more fun to annoy you,” you quipped.
You heard Kate let out a laugh from behind you as Yelena dramatically rolled her eyes.
Natasha slid her arms down to turn around, her back resting against your front. She laid her head onto your shoulder, planting a soft kiss on your cheek. “That’s a really good idea though,” she noted, her eyes glimmering with a mix of mischief and affection.
“So it is,” you replied, playfully giving her a gentle nudge toward the hallway. You locked hands, and Natasha quickly hip-checked Yelena as you walked by.
“You two are so gross,” Yelena complained, covering her face with her hand in mock disgust.
“Just fulfilling your request, sestra,” Natasha shot back with a wink as you reached the elevator hallway, waving goodbye. “Goodnight, ladies!”
As you waited momentarily in front of the elevator, you tuned in, listening intently. For the average person, voices would have to be raised to be heard from here, but your enhanced abilities allowed you to pick up their words with clarity.
“You have to admit, they’re pretty cute.”
“That’s my sister, Kate.”
“Yeah, but they’re usually so serious and business-like, you know? It’s refreshing to see them happy and just like real—kinda proof that you can juggle both lives.”
Good luck, kid, you thought, as the elevator door opens,
“They talking about us?”
“Oh yeah… Kate thinks we are cute and thus Yelena is a little miffed”
“Well that sounds about right”
You enter the elevator and lean against the wall, Natasha beside you, hands still entwined.
“Please tell me your sister knows how absolutely head over combat boots that woman is for her?”
“I wish I could say yes, but I feel like she may still be mostly oblivious. I still can’t get her to really admit her own feelings—stubborn as a mule.”
“Well, I guess that shouldn’t surprise me… It runs in the family after all.”
“I was the one who kissed you first, remember?”
“Oh, I do.” As the elevator doors slid open, you stepped away, your hand slipping out of hers as you walked backward, your grin playful. “But kissing isn’t quite the same as feelings,” you teased, turning to walk down the hallway.
“I’m pretty sure I can make you feel some things with my kisses,” she chimed from behind you.
She quickly caught up, wrapping her arms around your waist and placing tender kisses along your neck as you opened the door. With a gentle shove, she pushed you inside, laughter following as the door clicked shut behind you.

Thank you also to 5x10 for inspiring a little detail to be added to my race car????? bed fic, which presumably will be up next week?:
Carlos slots his hands into the pockets of his smartest black chinos and slumps into the living room, toes pinching in his stupid shiny brogues. He wore these shoes to Marjan’s wedding a week ago, owned the dancefloor in them - and they did pinch a little by midnight, but nothing like now. The pinch feels like some other cosmic punishment, irritating as icy rain dripping into his collar. Here in the loft, the universe giggles behind its massive starry hands, and Carlos is reminded again that they are forever at the mercy of tiny things and decisions made by other people.
Shoes scuffed from the dabke, he took time yesterday evening polishing the leather. Ready for the visit. Ready for anything. TK did too. The two of them sat at the dining table with their smartest shoes laid out on newspaper, Gabriel’s old shoe polish kit between them. They polished and they buffed and they chatted with nervous excitement about bringing Jonah home. What’s the first thing they should do as a family of three?
“I’ll cook him whatever he wants!” Carlos announced.
TK laughed. “That’ll probably be, like, a hotdog with chocolate sauce and a side of Jelly Beans.”
“Consider it done.”
They were goofing, giddy – perhaps due to the shoe polish fumes – by the time they went to their bedroom to pick outfits to go with the shoes. After emptying the entire closet onto the bed, Carlos opted for his creamy, slightly retro bowling-style shirt. Something that said “A DAD!” without literally having the words embroidered on the breast pocket in pale blue cursive. TK chose a polo t-shirt in a shade somewhere between dusky blue and dove gray, as if to say, “Cool, sensible, calm, ready. Ready.” Ready for anything. Ready for the park swings and sandcastles, the coloring books, the meltdowns, the cuddles, the Disney sing-along mix in the car, Little League, fort-building, swimming lessons, cycling lessons, the removing of water wings, the removing of training wheels. Carlos waiting on the other side of the shallow end of the pool with his arms open. “That’s it, Jonah, swim to me. TK is right behind you.”

He’s paying for the date (at least the first date), it's just how his mom raised him.
Defo the movie and a meal type.
Some kind of historical drama or action comedy.
Slushy with 2 straws, and the classic yawn and stretch into putting his arm around you.
If all else goes to crap, you can at least talk about the movie during dinner.
Dinner being pizza/burgers from the closest table service fast food place.
Charlie
No gift, actually, it's your job to bring a selection of snacks. (She will also be providing a selection of her own favourite goodies.)
Chips/crisps, candy, pizza.
Bring caffeine too because it's gonna be an all-nighter.
It’s a gaming sleepover – think RE6, overcooked, Mario Kart, Wolfenstein ET, or whatever multiplayer games you’re into.
All on her couch in your hand-made blanket fort, until you both crash, or find another, more intimate activity.
Dean
Won't bring you a gift but will pay for at least the first round of drinks.
Gotta be some unknown dive bar with 50 beers on tap, barrels for tables, greasy food, and a classic rock tribute band that goes hard.
Tasty food, good music, stunning company, what more could a man want.
Also, a pool/foos/hockey tables are a must.
Spend the night drinking, dancing, and kicking his ass at your game of choice.
Bonus points if cook him breakfast in the morning.
Ketch
Would gift you wine(/some kind of alcohol), the fancy kind that’s hard to pronounce. Or if you’re not a drinker, probably a box of chocolate (Fortnum & Mason or a similarly high-end brand).
The date itself, something active but competitive.
Axe throwing, paintball, maybe even go-karting or dirt biking.
Wants to show off for you.
If you struggle to keep up, he’ll give you pointers, help you improve, but won’t pretend to be bad/let you win.
If you’re genuinely good, even good enough to beat him… *heart-eyes*
Sam
I actually think he would really enjoy going to a museum or gallery.
He’s a smart guy, and he loves to learn, but so often it's under s time constraint, or it's specific.
But on a date, he gets to not only spend time with the person he loves
But he’s able to slowly, casually explore the museum, observing, and learning about each piece without it being for a case.
If you’re the kinda person that always carries a bag, he’d hold it for you all the way through, and hold your hand.
You’re gonna stop and look at everything he wants to look at, and he’s gonna do the same for you.
Heart eyes when you start dragging his mammoth height through the crowds when you get excited to see something.
Debrief and refresh afterwards at the closest café, where you can both gush about your favourite parts.

The Herpetologist
daishou suguru x reader words; 4456 synopsis; daishou suguru goes crazy for one (1) girl and it's the same girl who tells him that she hasn't had her first kiss.
It was always those damn Nohebi afterparties.
The kind that made her face burn in embarrassment. It was cruel really, trying to not hamper the mood of all her friends by declining to play any of the games. For once, she wished that the Nohebi third years would just play Uno. Or maybe, she should ask her friends to stop dragging her to the 18+ parties.
If she was at a normal party, maybe she wouldn’t be sipping a Coke-A-Cola in the corner while her best friend was essentially getting mauled by one of the basketball players. Or maybe this was what actual parties were. What happened to parties where everyone wanted to hit pinatas and watch the newest Jurassic Park movie? What was once popcorn and the Hot Billboard Pop 100 had gradually shifted into jello shots and music that made her toes curl.
To contemplate this shocking discovery longer than needed was distracting her from the original reason she was standing in the cold corner. Her designated corner. She hadn’t kissed anyone yet. It just didn’t feel right to waste a kiss on some stupid high school boy who probably didn’t brush his teeth enough. It also didn’t feel right to waste a first kiss during some ridiculous game only designed by the horniest of teenage desires.
She would go window shopping during times like these. Scanning around the room for a potential option that she could possibly be okay with giving her first kiss to. She never took the first jump into that pool.
It was always those damn Nohebi afterparties.
Daishou Suguru sat on an empty loveseat, arms resting on the length of the back of the couch. His legs were comfortably spread out, leaning back deeply into his seat.
He couldn't care less for the flitting around, drinking, and ridiculous games. Where was all the honest, genuine human connection? Not that he wanted that either. He just wanted something cunning to observe, entertainment at others' expense was his true forte.
Unfortunately, manipulation of people didn’t fly at a party the same way that it did on the volleyball court. He wished he could call Mika, at least so she could tell him an interesting story about college life. Despite their romance not turning out the way he had hoped, they stayed good friends. She was someone who he could rely on. Her new boyfriend was nice, and let Daishou drive his motorcycle around one time for kicks and giggles.
Drinking during the volleyball season was an illogical decision, but drinking when the season was over seemed appealing. Daishou just couldn’t drag himself over to the mixing table.
His thoughts were processing the music. Someone should’ve banned the person who had AUX. It was the third time that “The Color Violet” by Tory Lanez had played.
Clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth, Daishou got up and slithered over to the kitchen. In the corner was the girl. She was the one that his buddies had talked about. They complained that she never joined in on any of the games. They had said she refused to take body shots or give body shots. When they scoffed about her antics during the discussion in the locker room, Daishou just kept quiet.
He poured himself a glass of Sprite, threw an ice cube in his cup for good measure, and leaned against the kitchen island facing her.
They both just sipped from their drinks, analyzing the situation. Daishou had entered her territory wordlessly and had claimed a section of it for himself. She wasn’t going to speak first. Why should she have to speak to this prick? She knew him from class, class 6. She had wanted to test into class 7 but it was already full.
“L/N right?” Oh, goody.
“Daishou Suguru, right?”
He raised an eyebrow at the bite she had inserted. He felt like he was going to have a great time with her.
And he did. They had talked all night.
“That’s when I knew I loved volleyball.” Daishou spun around in the office chair. The two of them had migrated to the bougiest office either of them had ever seen. Some of the non-scholarship kids who attended Nohebi Academy were all set for life, including inheriting whatever kind of job provided for an office this expansive.
She was sitting on the window sill, tracing the various shapes on the seat cushions.
Daishou decided to investigate a little.
“You never play the games. You know, the intellectually stimulating game of Spin the Bottle. Or the ever-richly academic Suck and Blow. Or, or my buddy's personal favorite, Marathon Kissing.”
Maybe she felt like she wouldn’t be judged. Maybe she felt like this was a potential opportunity for an actual friendship. Was he lulling her into a false sense of security, or was that earnest tone of voice an actual curiosity?
“I don’t want my first kiss to be for some silly game.”
She got him hook, line, and sinker.
Or maybe he got her.
“How about lessons with a teacher?”
“Kissing lessons? That has to be some form of dubious prostitution schtick.”
“I don’t know, maybe if you had someone to teach you, or at least someone low-pressure that you don’t care about as your first kiss then you could become less of a social pariah at these things.”
“A social pariah, how kind of you to let me down gently.” She stood up from her spot on the window sill and rested her hands on the huge dark oak table. The black mat likely was used to hold a MacBook Pro, and the pen holder contained an expensive German fountain pen, both paragons of the wealth that was held by the owner of this home.
Daishou stood up as well and shrugged.
Her dad used to be really into the whole survivalist thing. She remembers all the stories and rules about snakes. Red touching yellow kills a fellow. The Japanese Mamushi snake was known for literally liquefying the tissue of the victims who got bitten. The Habu snake, found in Okinawa, was naturally aggressive, attacking before even getting provoked. But there was always the Japanese Keelback, a naturally calm, non-poisonous snake that was so small it liked to hide in rivers and streams.
Would he be the Keelback or the Habu? Only time would tell for her.
They kissed for the first time that night, her sitting on the desk, him shoving the ornamental decorations off the table. He held her face in his hands. He leaned so far forward that she was lying on the desk instead of sitting. Hands went from her face to her back, trying to push her up against him.
She wondered if she was a good kisser, or if that was all Daishou’s doing. If he made kissing seem so simple and natural like this. Was that a moan or was she just hearing things? His hands were behind her now, resting on the desk. He didn’t know why but he was keeping his face close to hers, letting his breath hit her neck. Was he panting from a simple kiss, or was the room just hot?
“Are you a liar?” Daishou used his hand to lift her chin, moving her face so he could pretend he was a detective, searching for clues to his hypothesis.
“I, uh, no. I’m not a liar.”
As much as they both wanted to pretend the kiss hadn’t affected either of them. Their share of tension, like a tightly strung cello string, meant they spent way more time together on a day-to-day basis.
He wishes that he didn’t seek her out as often as he did. Suddenly every test score was being placed on her desk to compare. Every essay was scrutinized not just by his eyes, but by hers as well. Lunches with the volleyball team talking about plans and games turned into sitting in Daishou’s car trading fruit cups for pieces of chocolate he had his mom import from Europe because he begged.
The question in both their minds was when they would kiss again. Tomorrow? Next week? Daishou prayed it wouldn’t be more than an entire month. She put her stupid feelings on the line when she asked for another lesson.
They weren’t at a party, they were at his house. He told his mom that they were studying because they were studying something. Instead of classic literature, or calculus, it was the art of the hickey.
Daishou realized he would have to articulate what little he knew about hickies. At least he brushed his teeth four times before she came over.
“Suguru, that’s the third time you’ve brushed your teeth, do we need to go to the dentist again? Want to borrow my waterpick?” His mom had called from the dining room, she was looking through university options for him. Trying to find one in Tokyo that would both challenge him and be close enough to home so she could see her son more often than a blue moon.
“I’m good. Thanks though.”
She came to his house earlier than expected, still wearing the Academy uniform. The girl’s uniform consisted of a pleated yellow skirt, a white button-up, and a green sweater vest. The emblem of a snake wrapped around a shield was carefully stitched onto the left breast pocket. Daishou was still in the bathroom, brushing away while listening to his playlist, he was nodding his head to the beat of “Snooze” by SZA.
When all music suddenly became all about her, he wondered if he still had brain cells that weren’t occupied by his favorite academic competition.
She knocked on the door and Daishou’s mom opened it. She had the same dark, slanted eyes that he did. Her black hair was shoulder-length and curled, she had the same dimples when she smirked at her son’s study companion for the evening. So this was the girl Suguru wanted chocolates for.
“Come in, come in.” Daishou’s mom ushered. “Suguru will be down in a minute.”
Looking around at photos was a good way to pass the time, there was one of Daishou on a soccer team, one on a baseball team, basketball, swimming, and all the other sports. When he appeared to be around middle school, everything was volleyball. There was a certificate of academic achievement resulting in a scholarship award.
“I was so proud when he got into Nohebi. His dad would’ve loved to see him at his alma mater.” Daishou’s mom opened a wooden box on the mantle place, flipping through some pictures before telling Y/n to come and look at the select few.
Daishou was younger in this picture, his mom looked younger too, and there was a man too. His dad. He had his arm around Daishou’s mom and a hand on Daishou’s head. An unreal smile was on everyone’s faces.
Daishou’s mom kept scanning through photos, she landed on one and froze for a moment. It was Daishou in a formal suit, his mother in a black long-sleeve dress, and a memorial picture of his father surrounded by white flowers and green shrubs. Their eyes were red, and his mom was managing a neutral expression, but Daishou looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in that photo.
“Suguru adored his father.” She sniffled, mouth quivering, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to damper your mood. I just thought a few cute photos of Suguru would sell you a little on my son. It's been so long since he had a girl over, especially one who’s smart. He just talks about you endlessly, I almost thought my ear would fall off.”
They didn’t have a lesson on hickies that night. Instead, they ate dinner with his mom and watched a movie. She was curled up with a blanket, watching the screen intently wondering what was going to happen to the main character.
He said he needed to go and get a glass of water. The college brochures were strewn across the kitchen island. He remembered what university she was planning on going to, so he picked up the information booklet for that same university. Grabbing a black marker, he bit the cap off and circled the application deadline several times. Using a thumb tack he put the paper right in the center of the corkboard.
Graduation was great, a blast even. It was three hours long, and the first fifteen felt like they lasted forever. Suddenly, the top students were giving their speeches, she got her diploma and she remembers cheering for Daishou to accept his. And then it was over.
And then he was pulling her aside, shoving a paper into her hands.
“Read it.” She nodded. “Now I mean.”
She skimmed the paper, looked up at him, and then looked back down to the paper.
“Suguru this is great! They gave you the Secondary Academic Merit award!”
“There’s more,” He pointed a finger at something he had highlighted green.
“They compounded it with a volleyball scholarship too? You get to play for the school and your education is free.”
In a moment she was picked up and gently spun around. His tongue peeked out to wet his lips, she could hear him swallowing. He mumbles. She cups his face with a hand, making him look at her. It's a short kiss, first on the corner of the mouth, then straight on.
“I still think you’re a liar.” He recalls the first-ever kiss they shared.
Then it dawns on him.
“The school? Don’t you mean our school?”
Some other school gave her a full tuition scholarship. The universities were approximately 3.38 hours away from each other by car. By train, the time was shaved by 0.14 hours. Daishou knows because he spent his graduation night calculating distances and adding up costs for tickets.
His mom tried to get him to eat the seaweed soup she had made, but he was busy writing everything down in his notebook.
He saved up all his frustrations, worries, and joy and then planned a weekend trip to her university. He liked to spend at least an hour or so chomping on her neck leaving teeth marks and arrangements of soft bruises from the remnant kisses.
When she asked him about it, he just shrugged. When she asked him about it again, he seemed to brush the topic away and offered to go get lunch together. The third time she asked was the time she got an answer from him.
“Because it’s to show that you’re mine.” He said it with a calm face. Almost as if he was asking her to ask him about it further. So she entertained him.
“And why exactly do you feel the need to show people that I’m yours?” She tilted her head, accidentally exposing a fresh canvas of skin. In an instant, his mouth was on her neck, biting it as he continued to explain.
“Because then I’m actively claiming you as mine. Despite my lack of physical presence, I’m still there somehow. That way no one will try anything funny.” He nipped at her skin, his sharp canine stabbing into her neck. “Do you know how tough it is being in class sometimes, wondering if there’s another dude in one of your classes who’s eying you up? Especially when you wear that cream-colored cardigan over your yellow sundress?”
When she lets out a short yelp at a bite, Daishou smiles against her skin.
“Plus, you make really pretty noises.”
While Daishou may have initially been a Keelback snake, he evolved into a Habu over time.
He felt like volleyball was going nowhere, each practice felt longer and more exhausting. Each game felt dull. Same plays, same tricks, same result. He wondered why winning so often felt like winning nothing at all. Did he love volleyball?
His dad sure loved volleyball. Each game that was on TV became all that his dad would talk about sometimes. Wearing jerseys and eating huge plates of yakitori on Sunday nights. Daishou’s father always would point at the screen, right when an outside hitter got a deep unreceivable kill spike, saying that's what should be plastered as a true athletic feat. To jump so high, to hit so hard that you became practically a bird.
A bird. His dad was like a bird. Not a crow, or an eagle, not even an owl. But a falcon, a peregrine falcon. One time, at the zoo, when Daishou was still small enough to sit on his dad’s shoulders, his dad whispered and told him to look at the leftmost tree branch within the cage. There it sat, the falcon. Preening at its wings and looking around one head movement at a time.
The fascination with birds was lost on Daishou. He preferred to watch the snakes, the way they slithered around, leaving no trails in the dirt. Wrapping around and around on branches. Even the way their tongues flitted out when they hissed. Sharp fangs get down into the meat of its prey.
“Stay with me for summer break.” He was picking at the orange peel, phone resting between his shoulder and his ear.
“I can’t.” She was lying in bed, typing away on one of her final essays for the year. The first year of university was almost over, and she was killing it.
“Yes, you can stop saying you can’t.” Daishou put a segment of the orange in his mouth, throwing away the peel. He sat down on his couch. His school year had finished a few weeks ago. His mom was out of the country for a case she had to investigate in Hong Kong. Having a hot-shot lawyer mother was nice, but it also meant long durations of staying in an empty house by himself.
There were only so many things to do alone. Tokyo was vibrant and perfect, but without her it was boring. No interesting conversations, no teasing, and no warmth.
She hesitated. She was hesitant. Hesitance was what all animals went through before going right into fight or flight. Daishou didn’t know what to do to bring her over from her school and back to his home. He remembered what his mom said about her trip.
“How about we go to Hong Kong, just for a month?”
“A trip like that is way too expensive.”
“Mom’s there already, her employer gave her a very large, very spacious penthouse to stay in while the lawsuit is still going on.” She was listening, and so he kept going. “I have some money saved for tickets.”
He had just attacked first, without provocation. Adding a new depth to their relationship.
Hong Kong was beautiful. The first night there, despite being riddled with sleep deprivation and jet lag, they went to a food market, trying everything they could get their hands on. Wonton noodles, dim sum, egg tarts.
The smoke from the grills floated around, mixing with the smoke from all the uncles' chain smoking and yelling at each other in Cantonese. Bright neon signs shouted at people to come into the stores. They sat in the open air outside, tightly packed into a table meant for one person. She was sipping some broth, and he was playing with her hair.
The company penthouse was probably worth more than Daishou’s school campus. High ceilings, marble floors. It reminded him of the house from Parasite, just without all the murder. His mom was on her laptop on a huge white couch in the main living area. When they entered, she exclaimed.
“Ru, you should’ve told me when your plane got in! I would’ve picked you both up.” Daishou’s mom was kissing his face and he was leaning away, but he let his mom smooth down his hair while she clicked her tongue against the roof of her disapprovingly.
“It's all good, we went and did a little exploring.” Daishou rubbed Y/n’s back, his thumb moving back and forth on her shoulder.
“Well, you must be tired. Your room is to the left, down that hall.”
She had begun unpacking, putting clothes in the chest of drawers. Daishou was taking a cold shower, scrubbing his hair with the shampoo she bought. She folded his clothes and put them away too. She flung herself onto the bed and soaked into the covers, a huge foam mattress with some bounce.
Her phone binged, a message from a friend back at school. Her friend talked about how jealous she was that she was out of the country with her boyfriend. Then her friend complained about her boyfriend, saying he never did anything out of the ordinary or interesting. She said that she knew too much about her boyfriend.
Did she know too much about her boyfriend? Daishou was open enough, telling her all the important details, except for the stories and memories from his last year in primary school before entering middle school. She knew he liked volleyball because of a story he told about his dad, but that was the only time Daishou had mentioned his dad. You had seen more photos as time passed, but it didn’t feel like enough. She shook the thought, if he wanted to share he would. No need to bring up things that weren’t relevant at the moment.
When he came out of the bathroom he had a towel around his waist and wet hair. He had cut it recently, so his bangs were no longer swept to the left side of his face, instead it was a short fringe across his forehead. His dimples were on full display.
“Hi, pretty lady.” He picked out some clothes, hanging them over his arm. “You look beautiful.”
He sweet talked too much and she was too tired to be clever in turn, “I’m sweaty, dirty, and have been wearing these sweatpants for over twenty-four hours.”
“Exactly, beautiful. If the pants really are bothering you I can take them off, you know, as a favor.” He slowly made his way to her, for a second she thought she saw a pair of rattlesnake fangs appear on his smile.
She scrambled out of bed and grabbed the pajamas she had set on the side table, going to the bathroom.
“Aw c’mon, let me live a little.”
“Not today Satan.”
“It’s Suguru.”
One moment they were holding hands in the Kowloon Walled City Park, the next, they were ducking for cover from the heavy rain. Daishou used his jacket to cover their heads, tucking her under his arm so that she would stay dry. He looked around and found a structure they could stand under, at least until they had a plan for what to do next.
Shaking off the jacket, grateful for the waterproof coating, he wrapped it around her. Rubbing her arms to try and generate some warmth.
“Try not to think too much about the cold, it’ll make it worse.” His teeth were slightly chattering, but he put on a grin, scrolling through his phone to check the weather and nearby restaurants they could escape to.
“That’s all pseudoscience. You should know that.”
“I’m not a science major.” Daishou found his money shot, calling for a ride using the extremely broken Cantonese that he had learned.
When they got into the taxi, she put Daishou’s jacket back on him, rubbing his arms the same way that he had done for her earlier.
The driver looked at the two of them in the rearview mirror, said some things in a language that was most definitely not Cantonese, and handed Daishou the GPS ready for him to enter their desired location.
“ภรรยาของคุณดูจะรักคุณมาก.” The driver smiles, turning on the meter in the car after taking the GPS back.
“ขอบคุณ.”
She elbowed him lightly, “What the heck?”
“Half-Thai right here,” Daishou raised his hand, “My dad immigrated to Japan with my grandparents when he was young though, so I don’t know much else besides a kindergarten understanding. My speaking ability is even worse.”
“How come I never knew this?
“You never asked.” Is that really what their relationship had come to? She didn’t ask so the information was never given?
The rest of the trip flew by, and then they were back on the plane.
“Tell me about your dad.” She wanted to know. And if he wasn’t going to give answers, she was going to ask for them.
“My dad was amazing.” Daishou smiled. One of those bright smiles that made you want to drop everything and only look at him. He talked about his dad for the rest of the flight home, even when she was fighting sleep, she kept listening to him. Daishou held her hand in his.
Graduations came and went.
Birthdays came and a pet snake stayed.
He remembered when she finally had gotten used to kissing, he did teach her about hickeys, and she was a fast learner. Almost too fast.
“Suguru, my turn.” She pushes him away lightly, leaning up on her forearms as the two of them laid on his bed.
“What?” He stutters out. Suddenly very self aware he folds his arms over his bare chest.
“Let me leave a hickey this time. C’mon, my turn Suguru.” It was as if he had melted, his face red and his ears burning. She flipped them over as she straddled his waist, before leaning down and softly brushing her lips over his jaw. Before trailing down and ghosting her tongue over a spot on his neck.
She keeps testing around, looking for the sweet spot. When she nips at a junction between his shoulder and neck he sucks in a deep breath. Pressing another kiss to the spot she opens her mouth and starts to suck at the skin, circling her tongue around the area.
When she pulls away, a small hickey starts to show on his neck. When she looks back to Daishou, he is covering his face and muttering incomprehensibly.
“Aw, I got you all mushy over a kiss.”
“It wasn’t just a kiss! It was a hickey!”
“You’re right, it was just one hickey, but I can do more if you want?”
“No! One is fine! I like one! One, um, one is a good number for today.”
Daishou felt like he found his person. Looking at her cooing at the snake through the glass terrarium was definitely something that made him glad that he had picked her that night. Those damn Nohebi afterparties, making him find his forever person.

chapter 2 | chapter 3 (soon)
Tumblr media
Why in the nine circles of hell is Sam Winchester laughing at the blonde at the bar? I personally wouldn't know. God, why a blonde? Dean loves to say that I have some kind of complex with everyone who has too little melanin in their hair and make it everyone else's problem. Whatever.
We're somewhere in the backwoods of Louisiana, hunting some kind of vengeful spirit. Supposedly a father who killed his entire family and then killed himself. We only have a few problems: Dean's car broke down, my laptop stopped working and the bones of the father in question are missing. What a great week!
When I enter the bar where we agreed to meet, I avoid staring too much, like, I don't want to seem desperate or psychotic, so, I go straight to the side of the bar where Dean is.
"A beer, please," I ask the bartender.
"On the house, sweetie," he answers.
Well, I'm not ugly, seriously. But I've had better times. Surprising.
I could have sworn I saw Sammy's back tense for a second, but then he just turned and nodded at me. Whatever. I'm going crazy (unofficially).
"You seem absolutely disturbed, especially today," Dean starts a conversation while looking at the waitress with a certain hunger.
"We have to work, you know?" I sigh. "Disgusting!"
"We don't have anything similar to the internet in this backwater, and the library is protected by Fort Knox for some reason," he takes a sip of his drink. "And you know, he's only attacked on even-numbered days so far. So happy Friday the 13th! Go relax."
Dean smiles and walks towards the waitress who had passed by seconds ago. Oh, my god, something tells me not to wait up for him. Kids, — he's older than me — grow up so quickly…
Sometimes I think about the dream I had the other night. Sure, I've dreamed about the brothers a few times, usually about the hunts, and it ends with someone almost, or actually getting killed. Sometimes I kill them, when I take the place of the monster of the week. My psychiatrist probably has some opinion on this, but whatever, I could handle a nightmare. Sure, beat the trauma once or twice a week.
But this time, it was even worse. I had sex with Sam, or rather, he fucked me brainless. He corrupted my dignity. And for God's sake, the memories alone are enough to make me cry, again. I’m afraid to even look at his face. The shame could kill me. Thinking about it, death seems like a pretty funny experience, you know. That didn't matter, right now he was apparently having a lot of fun with someone else, and he would probably have a lot more fun soon.
Yeah. Sammy deserves better.
Sam was still caught up in the conversation with the blonde. My crush on him was probably reaching levels that were much less mature and less feminist than I should have expected, which is detestable. I like to be someone with ideals, and I would like those ideals to resist a 6'4" man who looks like a walking encyclopedia. We need more sisterhood!
Fuck it.
Of course the jealousy made me sick. Every second by their side is enough to make me even sicker. Oh my God, I'm burning. I hated blondes and the only exception I can make is Stevie Nicks.
I have poor self-control, when it comes to candies, tequila, Chesterfield Black and Sam Winchester.
I look at the analog clock on the wall, a big red one that matches my lipstick. After all, I don't think it's good to have personality crises early, but, I mean, it was already past 11pm.
After that I ordered a shot of whiskey and headed over to a pool table. In fact, I am an excellent player. If the Winchesters can have fun, why can't I do the same?
Can manage to laugh a little with some guys for a few minutes. Yeah, maybe I prayed a little that one of them would want to sleep with me. I could be good at something.
As I go to bend down for the next move, a hand weighs down on my arm. I instinctively use the bat to hit him, but I'm partially unarmed, so the blow doesn't have full force.
"Why are you doing this to me?" His gaze makes my body burn. As if I was being judged on Doomsday, the only difference was that I cared about the future when it comes to him.
"Sam? What? No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." I mumble a few words. When did he get here?
"Why are you torturing me, Ivy?”
Ivy, like poison ivy, I thought. Sam told me once that I was filled with poison but blessed with beauty and rage. He was drunk as fuck, or it as me? I avoided thinking. I am not able to deal with things. I have not been able to for a long time. I’m no good.
I can barely think of a response as he drags me across the room. Sam's soft eyes and brusque attitude leave me confused. And I just let him lead me. Unfortunately, I trust him.
Sometimes alcohol makes me shaky, and this was the only reasonable explanation for what was happening now. I'm confused and in nicotine withdrawal, I keep telling myself, again, and again. I'm shaking.
Outside the bar, sam, lets go of me, almost throwing me against the wall, but he doesn't. His puppy dog eyes, he's so gentle. Gentler than I ever deserved. Perhaps, his kindness was the real violence.
“Listen, Sammy, I’m sorry, again, I didn't mean to hit you” Actually, I’m not sure about what to say.
“I won't tolerate your shit this time”
What the actual fuck?
“Don't look at me like that. Day after day you've been killing yourself. Acting like you hate this life. Hating each and every one of us. Hating Dean. Hating me.” His voice trembles. Sam runs his hands through his hair, like he's going to die if he doesn't speak up now. ”God, why don't you accept help? Why do you carry this weight on your shoulders alone?”
“Calm down, Sam. I'm a grown woman. I'm fine, I swear. The last week has just been stressful, that's-”
“Shut up! Jesus! You drank so much, as if some kind of dry law was going to start tomorrow! You only eat shit and don't get me started on the night terrors” He sighs “Fuck, I wish I could distance myself from you a little.”
“Why are you saying these things?” My eyes were watering, but I didn't want him to see me crying. Damn it.
“Because maybe if I could stay away from you, maybe I could love you less, and not care about you destroying yourself day after day.”
My face was wet with tears, but I couldn't understand the reason. I wanted to speak but I couldn't. unable to formulate a coherent thought and express it.
“But you know what? There is no corner of the earth that will keep your name from burning in my memory. I will never be able to be far enough away from you.” Then he hugs me, and I lose track of time as I cry. “I'll always be your friend, Ivy.”

CHAPTER TWO
Racing AU
After the excitement of the track wears off, Pomni's situation sinks in. She's trapped. The others try to make her feel welcome and introduce her to Kaufmo. What could go wrong?
WARNING: angst, abstraction, some violence
Ch1
The racers all filed into the garage as the NPC audience cheered their last. Caine joined them inside and snapped his fingers. All their karts teleported inside to their respective part of the open floor plan garage. There was a spiraling metal stair case to a second floor loft that lined the outer wall. Every upstairs door lead out to overlook the garage. To the far right was a lounge with comfortable looking couches and chairs and recreational activities; such as pool and table tennis.
Pomni wiped the last of the confetti off her shoulder as she looked around. "Is this...all there is?"
"Of course not!" Caine chimed in before anyone else could answer. "In between races you have full use of the practice track! Take a look!" He opened the blinds and the outside looked different. The start line was the same but the stands where empty. The track no longer led underground but instead continued to curve around the garage and looped back to the start in a perfect oval. "And inside, you can play mini games with your new friends!" Pomni stared at the others with uncertainty. "Also!" Caine pulled Pomni by the hand to an empty kart area of the garage. "You can customize your kart! Everything from the engine and tires to the body and paint! The only limit is your imagination!"
"And the game's source engine." Jax added. "I've already tested that. He won't let you add more that five accessories to the kart or you end up clipping into the void."
"The...void?" Pomni paled.
"Now, Jax. We needn't bring THAT up. It's nothing to concern yourself with, my dear. There are many safety features in place to prevent that from happening. I can assure you, as host, I've never lost anyone in the void. I know all your positions at all times thanks to my wacky watch!" Caine proudly showed the small purple TV on his wrist. Six blips appeared on screen.
Caine tapped his watch. "Huh...Welp, I gotta get going! The tracks don't generate themselves! I've got to prepare for tomorrow's race! Speak to one of our Bubble assistants if you have any more questions!" Then with a pop, he was gone.
Pomni took a step back and rubbed her arms as she looked at everyone still staring at her. "Look, uh... The race was fun, but...how do I...leave?"
The others looked down or away from her. None of them wanting to be the one to tell her.
Jax groaned incredulously. "You can't. None of us can."
"Jax!" Ragatha scolded. "Why do have to be so tactless!?"
"Because there is no tact when it comes to telling someone they're stuck in digital purgatory for all of eternity, Ragatha!" He got nose to nose with her and they glared at each other.
"Please, don't fight." Gangle whimpered.
"Seriously. Will you two get a grip?" Zooble rolled their eyes and looked at Pomni. "He's right though. Welcome to your new home." Zooble then went to the pinball machine in the lounge.
"What? Why can't we leave? I don't understand. Isn't this just a game?" Pomni felt he face again for the headset she barely remembered she had on before appearing here.
"It was supposed to be just a game..." A quiet voice came from the lounge. Kinger had turned the couch cushions and pillows into a fort and was securely inside it. "People were never meant to be stuck here. Something went wrong."
Pomni got closer to the fort. "What went wrong?"
Kinger popped his head out. "What went where?"
"You'll have to excuse him." Ragatha sighed. "He's been here the longest."
"That's why he's crazy!" Laughed Jax. "That's all our fates, Pomni. Giving into the madness or being broken by it."
Ragatha grabbed a pillow and chucked it at Jax. "Go be a nuisance somewhere else!"
"My impenetrable fortress!" Cried Kinger as the missing pillow left a hole in his carefully made fort.
"Fine. I've got better things to do anyway. Like eat. Hey, Bubble chef!" Jax walked off to a table set for dining and a Bubble appeared to assist him.
Gangle got the pillow Ragatha threw and fixed Kinger's fort.
"Thank you." Kinger sighed with relief and disappeared inside.
Ragatha put a gentle hand on Pomni's shoulder. "Look...being here isn't so bad. Caine keeps us busy and we have each other." She glared at Jax. "For better or worse. There's one person you haven't met yet, he wasn't at the race today. Would you like to come with me to check on him?"
Pomni had been out of it as she really processed her situation. No way to leave. Stuck in digital purgatory. Forever. She could never go back to the life she had. Everything and everyone she had known didn't matter anymore. She vomited.
Ragatha jumped back to keep from stepping in it, but kept her hand on Pomni. She gently steered Pomni to the stairs. "Come on, Kaufmo will cheer you up. He's very good at it. Clean up!" She called out and a Bubble appeared.
"I'm on it!" The Bubble proceeded to lick up the mess. Gangle was nearly sick herself witnessing it.
Ragatha and Pomni went upstairs and walked along the long loft towards Kaufmo's room.
"Ragatha...I'm confused. Why participate in the races at all? Why not search for a way out? Are we really sure we can't leave?" Pomni said quietly.
"You aren't the first person to search for the exit, many have tried. None have succeeded." They walked past door after door. Many blank but a few had faces. Unknown faces with red Xs painted over them. "We all looked for a way out at some point or another, but we've come to accept our place here because ...well, constantly pursuing an unobtainable goal will drive you to mind breaking insanity. And when you've reached that point...there's no return."
"[@#$& !¥π∆]" Pomni muttered, the cartoonish sound effects not phasing her this time.
"...I know." Ragatha frowned and knocked on the door to Kaufmo's room. No answer. "Kaufmo? Hey, you in there? We got a new racer today! Wanna meet her?" No answer. "Huh, maybe he's not in his room?"
BOOM!
Something large and heavy hit the wall in front of them. It shook the building and got the attentions of those still downstairs.
BOOM!!
The wall around Kaufmo's door started to crack. The door itself buckling from impact.
BOOM!!!
The door flew off the wall, Ragatha and Pomni dove out of the way, missing it by inches. The door hit the railing and fell end over end to the ground floor with a loud crash. The girls looked up at the emerging creature from the broken doorframe. A beast of indeterminate dimensions snarled as it's many eyes look wildly around in their sockets.
"What is that!?"
"Remember that whole 'point of no return'? This is it! Run, Pomni!" Ragatha took off down her section of the railing. Pomni turned on her heel and ran the opposite direction. The beast tried swiping at them both, causing it to flop on the railing in front of it, crushing it. The beast roared and randomly chose to go after Pomni. Those on the ground could only watch as Pomni circle the building trying to get to the stairs.
"What's happening!?" Gangle screamed, hiding behind Zooble.
Zooble looked up in horror as they connected the dots. "Kaufmo...no."
Jax sat under the dinner table with the stack of pancakes he ordered. He sighed and took a bite. "Here we go again."
Pomni made it to the stairs before Ragatha and slid down the railing. She fumbled the landing but kept running to the door that led outside. The beast caught Ragatha at the stairs and smashed her against the wall. The janked nature of the beast made Ragatha glitch. She screamed as she was thrown around again and again, eventually being tossed over the side and landing hard on the garage floor.
The beast jumped with the intent to crush Ragatha, but Gangle's ribbon grabbed her leg and pulled her free of the impact zone. The beast came down hard and broke the floor, textures started glitching in and out.
"In here! Quick!" Kinger opened his fortress and beckoned Zooble, Ragatha and Gangle inside. They hunkered down and held each other as they heard the beast get up from its fall. It roared and started smashing at an outside wall.
"Pomni is still out there!" Ragatha was barely understandable through her glitched speech pattern. "We have to help her!"
"No! Stay out of sight. Safe." Kinger stuttered out. The bashing and crashing of the abstracted Kaufmo brought back too many memories. He curled himself in the fetal position and stared at nothing.
Zooble pulled off one of their eyes and used it to discreetly peak out. The beast was trying to break though the wall where the entrance door was. They looked around and saw Jax still under the dining table, just finishing his pancakes. "He's right. Caine's never gone for too long. We have to wait this out. ...like last time."
"And the time before that and the time before that and the time before that-" Kinger repeated.
Gangle held Zooble's hand. Despite her best brave face, she was shaking. "It's Kaufmo, isn't it?"
Zooble nodded.
Gangle started to cry. "I didn't think it'd be him next. He was always so...so..."
"Happy? Yeah, hate to break it to you, but if someone is happy all the time...they're not." Zooble put their eye back and held Ragatha's glitching hand. It made their own arm glitch but they bared the pain to be of some comfort to Ragatha.
BOOM!!
The building shook as the beast made it outside. It saw Pomni making a break for the stands and charged. Pomni ran as fast as her new little legs could go. She could see an entryway inside the stands, maybe she could hide there. Over her shoulder, she could see the beast gaining. Not looking ahead, she ran into the door and fell on her ass.
She scrambled for the door handle. The beast was nearly upon her and WHAM! She made it though the frame just in time. She got to her feet and ran in any direction away from the door. She saw some stairs with a sign that read "Announcer Booth" and she bolted up them. The higher she went the more the textures around her started to de-load.
"For [✓√@&#] sake, how tall is this tower??" She huffed. She took a moment to catch her breath when she finally made it to the top and took a look around. She wasn't in any kind of tower, in fact, it looked like she wasn't anywhere at all. Blank gridded walls and ceilings went as far as the eye could see. Unused textures and assets sparsely dotted the landscape. Peices of half built track hovered unsupported. Obstacles still in the process of being designed.
"Pomni? What are you doing here??"
Pomni screamed at the top of her lungs and swung around to see Caine hovering just feet from where she stood. Tie loose, cane, top hat, and coat missing, he looked as though he'd been very busy and she interrupted him.
"I realize you're new around here, so you didn't know, but I don't like people seeing my unfinished work. It's...well, a bit embarrassing." He cleared his non-existent throat. "You'll get a front row view of my latest creation tomorrow, I promise! I'll just send you back now."
"WAIT!"
Caine paused mid-snap.
"There's a thing outside! It attacked us!"
"Attacked? No enemies should be in bounds this late in the day."
"No, No! It was the guy! The UHHH-" Pomni struggled to remember the name in panic.
Caine gave her a look. "The 'guy'? Really now, if you just wanted an excuse to stay up here, you could have just said so. I do have a few mostly completed projects I suppose I could show you-"
"NO! THE GUY! THE CLOWN! THE- THE- KAUFMO! That's his name! Kaufmo turned into some beast and is breaking everything! He hurt Ragatha!"
"Kaufmo abstracted!? Why didn't you say so!" He grabbed Pomni's hand and teleported with her to the starting line. There they saw the beast still bashing it's head(?) against the door to the stands. He snapped his fingers and the monster started to levitate.
"Into the cellar you go." A pit opened as Caine lowered the beast down.
Pomni was floating with Caine and the pit opening made her grab his arm tightly. She watched the beast that was Kaufmo fall down into the darkness, his roar sounding like a pitiful wail as the pit closed.
"Well...that's that." Caine's usual boisterous voice came out somber as he looked down where the pit had been.
"How many times has this happened?" Pomni asked, her voice raspy from screaming.
"Too many times." Caine left it at that as he snapped his fingers again and the damage to the buildings repaired. He teleported inside with Pomni to check his charges.
"Caine! About [@#$&!] time!" Zooble grunted as they fought to keep their own composer, helping Ragatha out of the pillow fort.
"Oop-" Caine snapped his fingers and they were normal again. He then floated down to let Pomni touch solid ground again. "Sorry about that, everyone. I was looking for Kaufmo initially, his signature wasn't coming up on my wacky watch, but then I...you know, got distracted. So much work and only so much me to handle it all." He laughed nervously. "Speaking of which, I really need to get back to it. Big race tomorrow! Rest up, my little superstars!" He poofed away.
A heavy silence fell over everyone. They looked at each other, shaken over when just happened. The building was completely repaired, even Kaufmo's room. No signs that someone abstracted. Like it never happened...or mattered.
Jax stretched as he stood up from the floor. "Uuuuugh! Finally. I was tired of sitting under there."
Ragatha saw red. She stormed over to Jax and smacked him hard enough to echoe through the garage. "What the [@#$!] is wrong with you!? Kaufmo just- he- how can you take this so lightly!?" Tears burned her unbuttoned eye.
Jax rubbed his face but otherwise didn't flinch from Ragatha. "How can you take this so seriously? It's not like it's the first time it's happened. And it won't be the last." He looked down at her. "I'm going to bed, unless anyone else wants to smack the [@#$&] out of me?" No one looked at him so he pocketed his hands and went upstairs.
Ragatha broke down into sobs. Gangle tried to comfort her. Zooble couldn't handle any more and left to their room. Kinger was politely putting all of the pillows back to her original places. Pomni went to him.
"Hey, uh...Kinger, right?"
"AH! Oh, hello, didn't see you there." He yeeted the pillow he was holding when he got startled so he clasped his hands together in front of him.
"The... Kaufmo thing-"
"Abstraction." Kinger said flatly.
"Uh, yeah...how many times has it happened?"
"So many times. So many friends. So many-"
"Give me a number. Please." Pomni tried to disguise her frustration with a smile.
"Eight people started the race. Then there were seven. Then six. Then seven. Then six. Then four. Then five. Then eight. Then seven. Then six. Then five. Then six. Then five. Then six. Then seven. Then six." Kinger started to shake in place, his eyes bloodshot.
Pomni took a step back. "Yeesh, maybe you are just crazy." She looked to Ragatha and Gangle having a cry over Kaufmo. She felt awkward possibly interrupting so she went upstairs.
She followed the doors. So many Xs. So many "abstractions". Was this really their fate? To play some game forever or risk falling apart? Her mind raced as she finally saw a door with her face on it. It's big, pleading eyes staring back at her.
"I'm getting out of here. Death would be a kinder fate than this." She took one last glance at the X'd doors and went inside her room.

Self-Aware! BSD. Some bits about the house
Just wanted to write down some ideas about House layout. I have few ideas about it.
Pretty short, because I wasn't thinking too much about it.
The final layout is up to you.
What happened in the Library
Basement.
- Storage room (food and some things, that right now not needed. Example: Christmas/Halloween decorations)
- Ayatsuji's doll room (Ayatsuji's old collection were transported in real world with him, but he intends to make his collection bigger. Cute fact, even if you gift him a doll for little kids from cheap store, he, after making some comments, still will make it a part of his collection)
- Shibusawa's collection (all abilities, that Shibusawa has collected, were transported to this world. Very dangerous room, because, not even Shibusawa can tell, what abilities he has down here. Dazai, Shibusawa and Chief Taneda are currently working on making a full list of abilities in collection. Still, the room is very beautiful).
- Interrogation room/Operation room (room, where BSD Gang can drag people, that wronged you. For the most part it isn't used and used as Yosano's operation room. In Part I of We will protect you Kunikida, Yosano, Ranpo and Dazai were interrogating Robber in this room)
- Bram's room. Old-fashioned. Bram sleeps in the coffin, but he has a bed here, in case you want to spend the night here and cuddle.
- Lovecraft's room. There is a small pool in the room. Small, but quite deep. Some shelves. Very comfortable bed. Floor that is covered in blankets and pillows. Lovecraft sleeps either in the pool underwater, on the bed, or in a pillow/blanket fort. Each time you decide to cuddle with him, you became a mix between plush toy for cuddling/pillow.
First floor.
- Meeting room (room right after the front doors. Sometimes, meetings are held here)
- Dining room (big, cozy. There is a back door)
- Kitchen (big, normally, at least three people are on cooking duty)
- Library (there is a back door. You also have a collection of heavy bronze busts of writers. There's also a phone, that is always on speaker. And it stands on a table with a crack on it. Let's just say, there was an incident, that involves a late night phone call, sleep deprivation, BSD Season 5 ending and real-life Dostoevsky's bronze bust.)
- The Purple Sigh is kept in the Library. Anyone can take it and spend some time with you in your room without interruption. Used by people, who feel overwhelmed, sad and lost.
- Common Room (big room where you held movie nights, play games and so on. There is a back door)
- Medical room (Yosano's/Mori's and Doc's office)
- Two bathrooms
Second, third and fourth floor
Living quarters.
It's up to you, dear readers, who, on what floor and in which room live.
There are only two things I will tell.
1. [Y/N]'s room is on the third floor 'in the middle, like it's surrounded by other rooms'.
2. Each floor has a bathroom. Some rooms have joint bathrooms ([Y/N]'s room has one. Other rooms with bathrooms are up to you.)
3. Every room is unique.
4. Ayatsuji's two cats live in his room.
5. Karl lives in Poe's room
6. Gogol has bird feeders outside his window.
7. Rimbaud's room is very warm, almost toasty.
8. Natsume has his own room and nowadays transform into a cat only if he needs to follow someone quietly or if he wants to cheer you up.
9. Ranpo has a hammock in his room.
Attic
Storage for old things.
_________
Outside
-Small farm. John and Kenji insisted on growing their own vegetables and fruits. Right now, it is still small, but they are planning to make it bigger.
-Barn. Came with the house and land. Empty right now, but Kenji want to get some cows.
- Playground for Oda's kids.
- Picnic area with wooden tables. Good place to have lunch on the open air.
- Garage. (Few cars, Chuuya's and Albatross's bikes)
- Sports/Training area. Place for jogging and doing exercises.
- Swimming pool

Tumblr media
When Max woke up the room was dark-pitch black almost.
All he could see was the turquoise glow from the pool outside, thanks to the glass patio door. He studied it for a while, watching the water idly float around, watching trees sway in a soft wind. It looked tranquil. It looked calm. For a moment, he almost fell back asleep, tucked in the corner of the couch underneath two or so blankets. Then you moved.
He almost jumped, completely forgetting that you had been sitting on the couch, too. As fate would have it, you had also fallen asleep, curled into his side with your arms around his waist. One of his hands rested on your back, another one on the top of the couch. He hadn’t even realized. Now that he did, however, he felt a little warmer, his heart felt a little fuller, his smile grew a little wider.
Max reached for his phone on a couch cushion nearby. The time was two-almost three-in the morning. He could only assume that the two of you fell asleep during family movie night and nobody had bothered to wake either of you. He was grateful for that.
Over the past four days, the two of you had grown incredibly close-inseparable even. After his apology, the days were spent falling back into the familiar rhythm you’d built as children. Everything you did, you did together. Chores? Apparently dishes were a two-person job! Mopping the floor? Two is better than one! Grocery shopping? It can be done twice as fast with two people! Even when it came to seating arrangements you and Max were together. In the car, at a meal, at a game around the table, on the couch for movies. If Max was there, you were there. If you were there, Max was there.
You rustled a little, aiming to get more comfortable in your sleep. Max waited until you stilled before slowly picking you up and laying you back down. He placed a butterfly kiss on your forehead. If you had been awake, a blush would be painting your cheeks red in seconds. Instead, you just nestled deeper into the blankets. Max smiled, turning on his heel and carefully sliding the back door open.
The cold air was refreshing, it was like a jumpstart for his lungs. He inhaled sharply, sitting down on a patio chair. His mind became occupied with plenty of questions, with plenty of memories, with plenty of possible outcomes for this summer. What would become of you two once you parted ways? Do you remember that time the two of you built a fort in the living room, and your parents let it stay up until the following summer, and when you came back it was still up? You two would be ok in the end, right?
“You should tell her, Max.”
He spun around, surprised at the sudden voice. Mia approached him, taking a spot on a lounge chair next to his. “What?” He spoke, voice raspy.
“Luca told me.”
“Luca, right.”
Mia nodded, bringing her sleeves up to her eyes. She sipped on a glass of water. “Do you love y/n? Or is this a joke to you? I mean it obviously started that way-”
“It’s not a joke.” He sighed. “I do love y/n. I swear I do.”
“What’s to come after this then, hmm? When you go back to Monaco and she goes to New York, what happens then?” Mia’s voice grew increasingly loud. Max’s eyes shifted from her face to the back door. Your figure was still curled up on the couch, but there was no way to know if you were awake or not.
“I don’t know, Mia.” He stood up, turning to go inside. “All I know is that I love her.”
“You loved her as a kid and you still left her.”
“Mia that won't-”
“Did you really change or is this just you trying to fabricate a lie once again?”
He tried to speak, to voice his opinion without waking you. “Will you let me-”
“You should stop getting so close with her. I can almost smell your bad intentions-”
“Mia!” He yelled, voice bouncing off the walls and echoing through the yard. She looked at him with wide eyes. “I’ll figure it out.”
With that he walked inside, noticing your movement on the couch. You sat up, rubbing your eyes similarly to how Mia just had. “Max?”
“Hello, beautiful. Let’s go to bed, ok?” He reached out a hand, one that you hesitated to take.
“Why were Mia and you outside? Why did you shout her name?”
Max just shook his head, opting to pick you up bridal style. You smiled, tucking your head into the crook of his neck. Sleep toyed with your body, pulling at your eyelids and weighing your limbs down. Your sister walked inside as Max began to walk up the steps. You didn’t see it, but he gave her an apologetic look. She returned one of anger, one of dread. Dont fuck this up or it’s over for good, she was telling him. I know, he wanted to say. Trust me, I know.
Max walked you up the stairs, his body heat providing a comfort no blanket ever could. He pushed your door open and laid you down before pulling your sheets over you. His hand came to your hair, brushing a few strands away from your face. You looked so delicate laying there. He could break you in seconds. He hated knowing that he had that power over you.
With a small kiss goodbye to the cheek, he was standing, ready to go into his room and try to fall asleep on his own cold, lonely bed. You hand caught his wrist, though, stopping him in his tracks. “Stay.” Your words were so quiet that he almost didn’t hear you. “Stay, Max.”
He swallowed thickly. Through your closed door, he could hear Mia’s footsteps as she wandered down the hall and back to her bedroom. Was she right? Was this wrong? Would this just lead into another heartbreak at the end of the summer? Would you always hate Max unless you were dating him?
“Y/n I-”
“Please?”
He crawled over you, his chest pressing into your back. The two of you didn’t last long like that, however. You rolled over, curling into his body. His arms wrapped around you, his hands meeting at the small of your back. “Thank you,” You whispered.
And you swear he said, “You’re welcome, my love.” As you fell asleep.
-
You woke up alone, an indentation in the spot beside you as the only evidence that Max had once been there.
You begin to wonder how long ago he left your side. Did he leave as soon as you fell asleep? Did he leave a little while ago? Did he leave somewhere in between? You smiled as your hand touched the spot on your duvet where he was. It was still warm.
“Good morning!” Your mother beamed as you walked down the stairs. Max and Luca sat at the kitchen bar, your mother and Max’s stood behind it, cooking up some sort of food. “Sleep well after your slumber on the couch?”
“God, you should have seen how you and him were cuddled up.” Luca gagged. “Disgusting.”
You smacked the back of his head as you passed him to sit next to Max. “You’re seventeen, not twelve, Luca.” Max smiled at you as you took your seat. He ran a hand across your thigh before pulling it back. Your skin missed his touch almost immediately.
“Yacht today-sound good with you three?” Sophie asked.
“Always.” Max added, raising his glass in the air. “We haven’t been on it yet this year.”
Luca sighed. “My dad and I have been working on it. A few tweaks here and there. We’re confident now that we can take it out and not get stranded.”
“Awesome.” He responded.
“Better grab a few emergency flares just in case.” You said, your mother sliding you a glass of coffee and a carton of creamer across the bar. “We all know Luca isn’t the smartest of kids.”
He stuck a middle finger up at you, to which you returned.
Going on the yacht meant there was only one possible destination. There was an island off the southwest coast of Elba called Pianosa. A small, secluded, rocky beach named Belvedere beach called Pianosa home, and it was also where your family would spend their day. It took about three hours to get there, and you all would normally stay until sunset, arriving home in the late hours of the night. You have plenty of fond memories surrounding the trip. When coming home, everyone would fall asleep except for you and Max who would sit by your father as he navigated his way home. Sometimes, when it got boring watching him, you two would run around and play in the hot tub. This year, you hoped, would be no different.
“So, you and Max.”
“Stop it, mom.” You sighed, walking shoulder to shoulder with her. The boat was a few feet away, and Max was already on it with your dad, Luca, and Victoria’s husband as they lifted heavy coolers and bins onto the deck.
“What? It looks like things are going well for you two.”
“They are, but I’m not getting too invested. He’s gotta’ go back to Monaco and I have to go back to New York. Those two places are very far away.” You stepped onto the dock. “Not to mention we have very different lives.”
Your mother just shrugged, placing one foot on the boat and accepting a helping hand from your father. “If it’s meant to be, it’ll find a way to be.”
He reached out a hand to you. “She’s a woman of wisdom, darling.”
You scoffed. “Apparently everyone is.”
The yacht took off quickly after you all boarded. You sat alone in the lounge on the second floor. You could feel the wind on your face as the boat sped up. It was refreshing. You’d missed the yacht. You’d missed a lot of things about Elba summers, you realized.
“There you are.” Max walked down the stairs behind you. “Why are you alone?”
“Just needed a breather.”
“Are you ok?” He sat down on the couch next to you, a worried look on his face.
“Yes.” You laughed. “I’m alright.”
The trip went smoothly. You and Max hung out in the lounge the whole time. At one point, Victoria and her husband came down with their two children. The six of you talked the whole time. Victoria spoke of motherhood and how amazing it had been. You all reminisced, too. She reminded you of birthday parties and summer outings. She reminded you of girl nights and bedroom sleepovers.
Once the boat ported, Luca was the first to jump off the side, nearly missing a rock. Of course your mother scolded him. What was a family trip without Luca getting in trouble? You and Mia tanned on the front of the boat until lunch on the first deck. You slid into the booth followed by a dripping wet Max. His hand was cold as it touched your thigh before pulling away-the same as he did in the morning.
“Stop, you’re cold.” You swatted at him as he scooted closer to you. “Max! Stop!”
He laughed before grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his shoulders. “So whiney.”
After eating, everyone took a quick breather before jumping back into the water. Mia went to continue tanning, you stayed seated on the first deck. Max stayed with you, too. And you were sure that a good conversation could happen but of course, Luca was there so all that was said was nonsense. At one point, Max and your little brother got in an argument on whether or not white was a color or shade. How intelligent.
“Jump in with me.” Max begged.
“Let me get in through the ladder first then I’ll jump in.”
He shook his head. “That’s wimpy. Jump.”
“Max-”
“Jump.”
You would never win this argument. So, hand in hand with him, you and Max jumped off the edge of the boat. The water was freezing. You began to worry about having a heart attack. It was a serious worry, ok? You spent the rest of the afternoon floating in the ocean, sometimes with a raft and sometimes on Max’s back. You played stupid games with Mia and Luca, you showed Victoria’s kids how to build a ‘good’ sand castle, you pushed your father off the boat-life was good.
When everyone was asleep on couches and chairs, your father pulled the boat away from the island and began the return to Elba. Max and you were together-of course-in the hot tub. You were exhausted, the sun had done a number on your body. The bubbling water and warm temperatures in the hot tub made it hard to keep your eyes open. Plus, the sun was down now, so it was relatively dark.
“I had a lot of fun today.” Max said.
You hummed, eyes closed as you leaned your head back. “Me too.”
“I always have fun around you and your family, so thank you.”
You opened your eyes, lowering your head to look at him. His hair was messy, his face was red. He looked tired but he still somehow looked so good. He only thought the same things about you. “You’re welcome around us anytime.”
He began to move closer to you, body cutting through the water. You watched him intensely as he came to your side. His eyes flicked between your lips and your eyes. You could feel his breath on your cheek. What was this? What was he doing? Why were you allowing it to happen?
His tongue darted out to wet his bottom lip. “You’re so pretty.” He whispered.
“No,” You shook your head. Hopefully your sunburn was masking the blush that was darkening your cheeks. “I look disheveled.”
“You always look good, y/n.”
It was your turn to avert your gaze from his eyes to his lips. They looked so plush, so full, so warm. You wondered if they felt the same as they did all those years ago. Max’s hand came to your neck. His index finger skimmed your jaw. His eyelashes fluttered shut. You found yourself mindlessly following suit. Before you knew it, those warm lips you were wondering about were on yours. He was soft, careful with the way he handled your skin. His other hand came to hold the opposite side of your face.
He pulled away after only a few moments. “Y/n I-”
“Max-”
“I’m sorry I didn’t ask or anything I don’t know why I did that-”
You lifted your thigh to slide onto his lap. His eyes were wide as you wrapped your arms around his neck, elbows resting on his shoulders. “Do it again.”
“What?” He whispered.
“Kiss me, Max.”
He swallowed hard, adjusting how he was sitting in the hot tub. “Absolutely.”

*wipes sweat off brow* 126 for Vampires!
----
By the time they make it to the apartment in Boyle Heights, it’s too late. The young man is dead.  It doesn’t take much from Hen and Chim to determine that. Police are on the scene moments later, because it’s pretty clear this is a crime.
He was butchered.
Wooden stakes lay scattered on the floor around the guy’s corpse. Some are splintered and broken off. There’s blood everywhere. So much of it, pooling out of various puncture wounds across the guy’s body. This is not the easiest way to kill a person. A person who Buck presumes must have been a vampire. No, this was targeted. Angry. Hateful.
A reminder of the risk telling anyone about Eddie had posed. The more people who know, the more likely someone like this finds out.
“Oh, looks like Buckley was here,” Andy, the new guy, jabs when they walk in on the body.
Bobby whirls on him before Buck has the chance.
“Another word like that and I’ll end your career.”
Andy doesn’t say a thing after that.
They leave soon after. There’s nothing for them to do. They came because he’d been alive when he called 9-1-1, frantic and asking for help. He hadn’t explained the nature of his wounds. It looks like he must have pulled the stakes from his body. If he’d left them in, they might have been able to save him.
He texts Maddie to update her. She was the one who took the call. She’ll want to know how it ended.
That’s so horrible.
Is Maddie’s reply.
He said his name was Curtis. He was twenty-two. Just a kid really.
Buck resists the urge to reply with see? See why I didn’t tell you?
After texting Maddie, he sends Eddie a quick message. He has a missed call from him and wants to make sure everything is okay.
He’s sitting in the back of the engine, beside Hen, who gives his arm a reassuring, gentle squeeze when she sees the tense, almost nauseated look on his face. From their angle, Buck can see that Bobby is also engrossed in his phone. There’s a wide-eyed, concerned look on his face.
He turns around to look at Buck, face tight. Buck is about to ask him what the problem is when Eddie texts him back.
May collapsed when we were out. She’s healed. She’s normal again.
Buck thinks his ears genuinely start to ring. He looks back at Bobby, who just gives a little nod when he sees Buck’s expression.
“Buck and I are going to run an errand in the battalion truck when we get back,” Bobby announces. “Hen, can you hold down the fort while we’re gone?”
Buck very subtly turns his phone screen for Hen to read. Hen’s eyes go big behind her glasses.
“Uh, yes. Yes, of course, Cap.”
Buck thinks about the dead kid in the apartment. The brutality of his murder. Buck feels whiplash between two emotions; rage and heartache for this dead man, and immense relief for May. How strange that in the span of an hour, the day could go so wrong for one, and so well for another.
He has no idea how badly this thought will come back to bite him.
🩸🩸🩸
Eddie is sitting with May and Athena at their kitchen table when Bobby and Buck come practically bursting through the front door. After Eddie gave Athena a rundown of what happened - with police interrogation levels of specificity - it’s mostly been quiet. Everyone needs to process. Especially May.
It’s strange. Eddie finds himself in the weird position of envying her and worrying for her. She looks genuinely shell shocked. Struggling to adjust to the old-new way her senses work, just like it had been a struggle when they were first infected. Except, without the uncontrollable bloodlust and impulsivity. Thank god for that. Eddie doesn’t miss the confusion. Not at all. But what would he do to wake up without this? A lot. He thinks he’d do an awful lot to be rid of it.
May springs to her feet when Bobby enters the room, chest pain clearly improving.
“It’s true?” Bobby asks. Buck lingers behind him in the kitchen entryway.
May nods, teary-eyed.
“I don’t know why. It just… It just happened.”
Bobby strides over to May and wraps her in a big hug.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” he says. “So, so glad."
Eddie gets the sentiment. Glad she’s cured. Glad collapsing hadn’t been something worse. Glad she made it out of that cafe without too many questions. There’s a lot to be glad for. Certainly, if it was Christopher in this position, Eddie would be too relieved for coherent thought.
“Thank you,” May mutters, eyes watering, tucking her head into her shoulder.
They were always close before, Eddie thinks. May has always loved Bobby like a second father, with no reservations. But he thinks they seem closer now. That this horror has only woven them closer. He thinks he understands that too. He’s far too afraid to tell his own parents about this condition. If he could? If he had parents who’d protect him the way Athena and Bobby protect May? That would mean the world to Eddie.
It doesn’t matter, though. He has Buck. He has Sophia. He has the 118 again. There are people who will protect Eddie, too.
Buck walks around May and Bobby to where Eddie sits and puts a hand on his shoulder.
“You good?” He asks quietly.
Eddie nods. “It was a bit of a scramble to get her out of there quick enough that we beat the paramedics. Sorry if that was your call.”
He knows that’s not what Buck means by his question, but he’s not ready to get into any more complicated emotions right now.
“It wasn’t,” Buck shakes his head. He scowls. Actually scowls. “We, uh… We came from a murder.”
“Oh?” Athena asks.
“A hate crime,” Bobby says, pulling away from May, who takes her seat again.
“Vampire?” May asks.
Buck nods. “Kid about your age in Boyle Heights. Staked.”

Nymph
Warning: drugs, cringe?, probably bad understanding of drugs, religious imagery, also incorrect use of religion, naked swimming, blood?, violence, drowning, I might’ve gotten a little too deep with this one. Gays, I don’t think I gave my character a human name… Emily runt (idk probably will be changed later). Grammar is bad. Mediocre storytelling, maybe a little too fast in pace. Twas uncreative to be honest. Lack of descriptions.
Also you will get a shitty design of the character that I used from a dress up game later. Because I’m not creative, and descriptions are lost on me.
The party is loud, placed in a cave hard to find by those who haven’t visited it before. I wonder what college student found this place and decided that this was the place to party. It seems rather inconvenient, no electricity means everything probably has to be battery powered, Bluetooth speakers hooked up to one phone. The party would be over if someone forgot to charge their phone. Though maybe there’s some asshole with a guitar, just waiting for his moment to save the dull party, whose only novelty is its cave location.
I didn’t really want to go to this party, I would’ve rather preferred to hang out with my friends in a garage much too hot to stand without a fan, blowing constantly. But of course my friend Keith didn’t want to stay in a garage all night, plus his boyfriend was able to drive us. Which honestly was enough to break down my stubborn walls. I didn’t really want to be alone tonight. I guess the location is a nice change of pace. My mom is home tonight and I don’t really want to risk her hearing my desperate coughs searching for breathable air from smoking weed. I could never really figure out how people do it.
In a daze I walk around the cave, Keith and his boyfriend Ash are dancing in the center. So much for not being alone. Though I guess I can’t blame them, it’s good to mix it up some nights. Playing games on a projector can only be so fun. At least my money isn’t being spent on gas station pizza and canned coffee.
I might as well do something tonight, I guess I’ll risk it with the alcohol. It’s not my particular forte, but it’s not like my mom has alcohol not meant for cooking. Plus it’s only for the numbing buzz. Worst case scenario I’m dead.
Pushing past tall bodies, I move towards the foldable table. The table isn’t full of anything interesting, beer mostly, of course there’s some frat boy creating horrid cocktails. My alcoholic adventures would be better in a place where I know where I am. He seems annoying anyways. I’ll just go for a beer or 2. I’ll probably have to chug them.
As I've been warned it’s not good, no matter how much I try to keep it away from my tongue, gravity and fluid really don’t care about that. I think one can is enough, I don’t think it’s particularly worth it. I’ll have to ask Keith later for a puff of his cart. I don’t see him or Ash, so I can only assume they’re only having their own fun.
A bright shine catches my eye. It’s a small entrance but I can make it through. It leads to a part of the cave with a weirdly clean pool. Not a leaf or a speck of dirt in sight. It’s strange, it’s completely clear, I can see the bottom. Though what do I know about cave water? The water was strange, beyond its cleanliness, it felt like it called to me. Whispers were spoken but I couldn’t understand them. The only thing I could perceive was a feeling.
Against my better judgement, I prepared to walk into the dazzling pool. I removed my baggy clothes, and my underwear. I always felt like continuing to wear your lingerie while going into a pool was weird in movies. Though I guess it was merely to cover up the parts others hated to see. But a body could dry fairly quickly, clothes couldn’t.
The water was cold, I guess it couldn’t be surprised, cave water and what not. Standing in the middle of the pool I began to relax. Arguably better than being crushed by a pit of people. At least I’ll still be able to enjoy the mediocre pop music.
Just as I begin to nearly submerge my head, I feel something pull me down, freaking out I try to gain control. But just as my torso emerges from the pool, hands, bright white clawed hands begin to pull me down. I fight and claw my way forward, but they’re all in vain, I was never really strong. The hands scratch deep into my skin, there’s so many, I am but a weak mortal, whose biggest sin was their sin of gluttony.
Dear mom, I’m sorry. You deserved a daughter who followed the rules. Who never touched a cigarette, would never touch the devil’s lettuce. You deserved a daughter with dreams and aspirations to make the world better. Rather than a disappointment who walks aimlessly, searching for sinful pleasures. I should have been a better daughter, who never complained about beach trips. A child who ate everything you gave me. I wish the last meal I cooked for you was perfect, so you may remember my last act of love as perfect. So you may believe that everything was made with love and care. Not cooked with a drive to create art that would be soon forgotten in the fridge. I’m sorry you were given an arrogant daughter, who continued to do drugs behind your back, even after you learned of my crime. You deserved to die before your children knowing both were happy and healthy. You deserved a life that most dream of having. You deserve a life without heartaches. But you get a child left dead in a pool. Dead from a drunken accident at a party from a college they don’t even go to. It’s funny how life ends up like that. They always said curiosity killed the cat. Maybe that’s why the full line was never said. Because the cat never was brought back. The cat laid there dead, being a reminder to isolate yourself against the horrors of the world.
Death is much brighter than what I believed, I always assumed, that we were wrong about heaven, and the walk up the staircase towards judgment. But I guess we have to be right about the heavens.
Death is being surrounded by bright beings, whispering amongst themselves. They’re so pretty in their abstract look. I can only assume they are but mere angels. Unlike outside of the pool I hear what they’re saying. Their voices were filled with disdain, words about filth thrown around amongst themselves. I just sat there, I couldn’t do anything, I was merely a stain. Another person who was once part of the population, forgotten by most and only noticeable if you saw me.
Death is being torn away from your mortal skin by Angels, far too monstrous to be considered beautiful. death is painful, I doubt it would be peaceful even if it was a quick death. The beings are slow with their methods too, only adding to the pain. They’re meticulous in their work. That is a thing I can admire about them. What’s left of my living body is some ethereal but dark substance. A dark purple, from what I can see, I see my ribcage is open, my heart and organs out for the angels to bear witness to the pitiful sinner they’ve skinned.
Once I’ve been rid of who I once was, one of the angels grabs me, murmuring something about cleansing the impure. My impurities spread to the hands of the Angel. The Angel stops, it watches as the filth spreads. The others surround us, beginning their loud chants of cleansing the impure. They begin to tear the skin of the Angel. But it begins to spread to them.
Mother, I ran as soon as I was dropped. I didn't know where I was going, the darkness was becoming more evident the further away from the angels I went.
When I came too, my friends were trying to wake me up. I was left naked on the ground beside the pool. Worry written on their faces.
They searched for me when the party was over. In a daze I try to stand up, but I feel like my body has no skin, like my organs are left open to the elements. I try to look at my hands, they look purple. I freak out asking questions like a mad woman, only to be met with confused looks. They claim I look like I normally do. Light skinned with freckles all over. I turn my head towards the pool, instead of a clean and glistening pond, it’s dirty, brown, and the bottom is as endless as space.
I’m taken home by my friends, of course they give me water, I wouldn’t be surprised if they thought I was having a bad trip. I can’t blame them, maybe I was. I don’t normally hallucinate when under the influence, but maybe something was slipped into the beer or the weed somehow. I don’t tell them about my grace with death. Frankly I don’t want to, I still don’t feel like my skin is part of my body, I feel the breeze where my muscles and skin meet. Something I have not noticed before.
Lately I’ve been feeling ill and have been hallucinating, the hands they try to drag me down, I’ve started to avoid water as much lately. I pretend I’m fine, I don’t want to remember those things. Sometimes I wake up in a puddle of black. I should go to the doctor, but I’ll be called crazy. I don’t want to be crazy. But I’m starting to hear their whispers again. The body that I see in the mirror is beginning to turn into an unnatural white, I don’t want to be like them. They don’t deserve another member after what they did to me. I’ve been craving things that would kill a human. Bleach, copious amounts of drugs for the most part. I don’t know why it had to be me, what made me the lucky winner in this lottery. I guess it’s selfish of me to wish it wasn’t me.
The bleach feels so good sliding down my throat. I wanted to resist, but I was getting weaker everyday, it wouldn’t have mattered if I died from an overdose. I could’ve turned into one of them.
Them. What were they? Angels? Nymphs? I never truly understood the difference between a god and nymph. The only thing I could glean is that they are minor deities. Maybe they are all powerful gods, or maybe they’re just gods to a cause they force others to follow. Blinded by their purity. Shredding their humanity to be better than others. I will not be like them.
I refuse to be pure. I am but a sinner. My life has no meaning, every moment is spent wasting away, with no sober moment in sight. And I will live and die by that. Does it fucking matter what I do? I’ll die just like the rest of us. I’ll die believing that I was happy, that the suffering was not there. I will die with hate in my heart, because fuck those that believe they are happier being healthy. The pain I feel is just another high for me to seek.

Summer Memories
Sitting down as I write this; I can hear the splashes of water from children making cannonballs in the neighbor's pool and the subsequent banshee-like screams of a pack of now-drenched mothers yelling at their kids. I'm also sneezing gunk like I'm having a demon exorcised from my body (The Zelda Rubinstein way, of course).
You may be asking yourself right now - Lincoln, what does that have anything to do with this post?  Well, my dear Watson, it means summer we are just beginning another summer! So, for the inaugural post of The Bone Goop, I'll discuss eight great summer memories!
Tumblr media
#1: Ice Cream Trucks
Okay, okay – Maybe I never had a traditional Ice Cream truck come down to my town – so sue me. I was raised in – said in my best George Burns Voice – God's Country—a place forgotten by all who didn't dwell there. But like an oasis in the desert, we did have one truck that came around town once a month - THE SCHWAN'S TRUCK. While serving primarily to adults looking for overpriced frozen steaks and vegetables, they did sell a minor assortment of ice cream goods. Let me tell you, orange cream push pops never tasted so good as when I bought one from the Schwan's man. He dressed in all white like Reggie from PHANTASM and would sometimes take pity on poor country kids by putting in an extra push pop for us to fight over like wild dogs.
Tumblr media
#2: Summer Minutiae
I'm a big fan of waxing poetically about life, so only I could think back so nostalgically about the utter boredom summer can bring as a kid. We all remember the highs that summer can bring, but there is also beauty in the lows. While I'd take riding bikes with my friends any day, many summers were spent alone, bored in my mother's backyard garden, watching fish in the pond or imagining a safari adventure through her overgrown Pampas grass.
And if one was truly bored in the summer heat, find the closest slab of concrete and a bucket of chalk and spend your day expressing the inner Ar·teest inside of you.
Tumblr media
#3: Water Parks!
I have a confession – I've almost drowned twice while visiting these water-themed wonderlands. I was 11 and full of youthful confidence in my swimming abilities as I stepped foot in Lexington's Pirate-themed water park during a trip with my best friend. That was until I was pinned underwater by a giant plastic riding Crocodile like I was in a Wrestling Federation match. It takes real love to enjoy something that tries to kill you.
Tumblr media
#4: Sleepovers
As a kid, one of the best things about summer was the Sleepover with your buddies. A one-night no-holds bar contest of wills - fueled by junk food, movies, and chaos. We had it down to a science: Blanket forts, Hot Pockets on tap, Gameboy Colors holstered in our pockets ready with Pokémon (complete with link cables), and maybe most importantly the tape rentals. Setting the mood for the night was imperative, so finding the perfect movie was the priority. STAR WARS or JURASSIC PARK were the faithful standbys, but the best nights were when someone smuggled a VHS TV recording of ROBOCOP and HALLOWEEN. It was like sneaking contraband through airport security.
Tumblr media
#5: Jackass
While the show was watched under cloak and dagger at night, my friends and I would often recreate the extraordinary stunts we saw during the day. Johnny Knoxville had a shopping cart, but we had a Big Wheel and trashcans! Hot summer days were spent building ramps up coal piles and flying off in terror. Hi, I'm Lincoln, and this is Jackass!
Tumblr media
#6: Calling Your Bluff
Many of my formative summer years were spent at my neighbor's kitchen table playing various card games like Canasta and Poker or Scrabble. We didn't have air conditioning, so they'd make Kool-Aid pops out of plastic ice trays wrapped in plastic with toothpicks poking into each cube. These were MacGyver: The Adolescent Years.
Tumblr media
#7: Yard Sales
Summer is Flea Market season, Baby! Truthfully, I don't make the time for Yard Sales like I used to, but rummaging through other people's trash was like second nature as a kid. So, it was even more devastating that my mom once went without me while I stayed with my grandparents.
The fogs of memory preclude me from knowing why, but I remember being extra grumpy about life while she was gone. The childhood vitriol melted instantly when she picked me up, and I saw the treasures she'd bought me – a pristine RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK VHS tape and a MONSTER IN MY POCKET figure!
Tumblr media
#8: It's Good to Be King
Summer wasn't summer if it didn't include one trip to King's Island - the Ohio amusement park made of dreams and overworked costumed employees. At the time, every ride and character were made to resemble Hanna-Barbera properties. Having lunch with your partner is great, but having lunch with Scooby Doo AND Space Ghost? On top of riding roller coasters? That was pure magic.
The night was complete only if I bought a blue Candy Rock stick for the ride home. It was the perfect day (Ignore that everyone but me got Pinkeye on that trip.)
I hope these memories stirred up some of your own about the magic of Summer. Thanks!!
