you mentioned liking military fiction, I'm curious whether you see the emphasis on disobedience in tcw and tbb as something specific to star wars, or as something that applies to fiction in general?

I wouldn't consider myself a military fiction sort of person, but similar franchises that come to mind, (destiny, mass effect, etc) also portray orders in a military setting as being optional for the main characters, that heroes can go against the grain if they know in their hearts it's the right thing to do, and don't face consequences, because things always work out in the end. this can partially be attributed to being games instead of a non-interactive media like a show, but it seems to me like the option to disobey an order is something a main character very often has in fiction even if it's unrealistic, displaying either a misunderstanding by the writers or an attempt to make a military hero more palatable to the general public.

omg yeah absolutely, it drives me insane every time in pops up in stuff like video games and other tv shows, where the Main Hero gets to disobey a direct order, not die, and then miraculously pull of a huge save, and not face any consequences. this even bothers me in pacific rim, where raleigh has a very anakin-esque attitude and that little nerdy doctor does the stupidest thing possible and saves the whole world because of it

i guess it especially bothers me in tcw and tbb (even though, like, theyre kids shows, its fine, this is something that even adult military fiction frequently fucks up) because i really see the inhibitor chips as the writing team scrambling to reconcile fucking this up with the ending that has to happen and pulling out mind control, which is second only to time travel on the list of Total Clownshoes Scifi Tropes to me

now that i've claimed to like miltary fiction i'm struggling to think of more examples lol. Halo Kilo-5 Trilogy also did 'following orders is good actually' really well, but that's not surprising, because kt wrote that too

murderbot does pretty decently although i don't know if that counts as military fiction. murderbot has to balance appearing to follow orders with its own limited expression of free will, especially at first, and is Extremely annoyed when the dumb humans dont follow the orders it gives them for their own safety

that episode of the mandalorian where din has to deal with that fuckin newbie does it well- the kid doesn't follow orders, nearly dies multiple times, almost gets everyone around him killed, improvises at the end because he thinks he sees an opportunity, and gets his ass killed in the end for it. ten outta ten very satisfying, because in another story, that idiot would have won

andor did this pretty well, in that when cassian improvises he causes himself and everyone around him enormous problems, and luthen's entire Thing is very much about putting the collective good above heroism, but andor did literally everything well

i think you're totally, completely spot on here. i suspect it has something to do with how western society values independence and heroism over a collective good. we love to see our hero Stick It To The System and Follow Their Heart, and then Come Out Victorious and Prove All You Boot-Licking Cogs In The Machine Wrong

hell. even repcomm DOES do this. the skirata band explicitly disobeys so so many orders, breaks out of the system, and comes out (mostly) victorious. i guess i'm fine with that because of the context and how the system they're sticking it to deserves to be escaped from, and they don't do it as an individual, but as a collective that has to be very, very careful with how and when they go about disobeying orders

i sort of laser focused in, but everything i'm saying about orders applies to improvisation, too. in hard contact specifically, omega squad plans their asses off and still has to improvise at the end, and it's actually treated as extremely dicey

and then there's the bad batch that never does any recon whatsoever and just runs blind into most situations, narrowly avoids death through sheer luck and Main Character Gumption

okay, replying to the long anon message this way so i can put it under the cut for spoilers :)

if it wasn't for fanfics of acotar i would have dropped it in acowar tbh, there were too many inconsistencies with the plot and characters and so many things that happened so the story moved forward but had no reason to happen, like it was out of nowhere and she prioritized romance over plot more and more each book and then prioritized smut in acosf over her own characters. i know ppl like that book but that was a shit characterization of nesta and cass and everyone that showed up almost and what for? to have a bunch of smut scenes that didn't actual help anything with nesta's development or the plot (i think it didnt even help with them getting together bc i would have prefered they actually started getting closer organically and then the tension starting after that) and she actually had a good idea with the valkyries but then the blood rite kinda cheapened it in my opinion bc they literally won with the power of friendship when sjm could have just skipped more time ahead (since they're immortal) and then when the 3 of them were realistically ready they could have won, and since the 3 bat boys winning was such an important thing i think if she really had to have that parallel than she could have wrote it better

i absolutely agree with this. and there's amazing examples of fantasy books where the smut hasn't ruined the plot and it's flow is great. but like, she's just cranking these books out with little thought i swear. and she can brag that she wrote cc3 in whatever like 6 weeks or some shit and then scrapped the whole thing. but like? sounds like a rush job to me? and how does she keep up with all these fucking characters because i can't. cc3 will make me lose my mind i swear. cass/ness had so much potential tbh i was here for it but acosf was a complete whirlwind of fuckery. and i get that it was no longer feyres pov or whatever but what the hell, that's not my cassian.

I chose romantic date so Suresh and I got a cabana on the beach with a table laid out for a romantic dinner. (NO BOAT OF DOOM DATE - im thinking thats the adventurous one but will confirm later) Suresh says he'll give you anything and MC is going ham with suggestions on what she wants...a romantic trip around the world, a spa day, shopping (GET IT GIRL!) he asks if you see yourself being in a real couple with him on the outside. I said I do of course. He moves closer to MC and gets super melty talking about how much MC means to him and says she does strange things to him likeeee.....he pulls out the engagement ring. MC is shocked you brought it with you?! Suresh offers it to MC and says its not a marriage proposal but a symbol of exclusivity 🥰🥰🥰 WHEW I got scared there for a second lol. on the first day nothing reallt happened i think 🤔 did wake up at 4:30 tho 😐 on the second day we went to this Place whcih was good for photos 👍 then we went to the BEACH 🏖 my mom was like don’t get ur clothes wet today ok jjsf go dip ur feet o whatever so i went but the waves r strong and stuff so it did get a little wet and when my mom went to call me back (bc i kept telling her to wait whenever she told me to come back lol) her jeans got wet so she was very 😐😐😐🔪🔪🔪 anyway it was nice but my brother wasn’t there so 😔 anwyay on the third day we went to my brother’s quiz thingy (we went to chennai bc of it in the first place idk if i already mentioned it lol it was a national quiz and stuff so uknow) and he won first place!!! 🐈🐈💃💃 i stole his chocolate (he gave it to me) and he got 7500 rupees so that was cool. then on the fourth day we went to odisha for absolutely no reason (well there was a reason but not like a Vacation reason) and our flight got diverted bc it was raining and they couldn’t land 😔 first it was not cool bc we had PLANS but then they gave us this bag as an apology and it had this giant cookie and gargi. Garig. it changed my life. before i thoughti had reached peak cookie experience with these cookies we got as food on the plane (they were So good) but the giant cookie……anwyay i’m married to the giant cookie now 😌 ok anyway after all that we went to the beach ok 👍 so my mom was planning on going to the temple after so she was like “we’ll come here tmr and u guys can get wet and stuff. today dont” and we WERE listening ok. i was wearing shorts so they barely got wet and my brother had rolled up his jeans so they were like very wet (we are. bad at listening. apparently) so i was like “lol when mom sees u she won’t care about my pants. i’m nothing compared to you” also note yes i realised how weird that sounded lol anyway then like right after i said. there was a big wave that would reach like our waists so we were going back by running backwards and i. i tripped 👍 the only dry part of me was above my neck 😔 mom was not amused 😞 but we went back and me and mybrother changed and i saw the cats (meowmeowmeowmeowmeow) so day 5. today. we went to the beach again and my brother kept sitting and accidentally dragging me down liek??? gifl. i kept tripping over his legs and st one point one of the waves like made him move so the next time a wave came he hung onto my legs like??? anwyay that did not work out. we both got attacked by the wave. n e way during this i almost died too lol i think i’d tripped and then this big wave came and like completely. engulfed me i guess. i would’ve been carried away if the wave didn’t calm down lol 😭 anyway that is the end i guess. hope u enjoyed

KARASUNO REACTS: THEY HEARD YOU MET THAT ONE GUY WHO BULLIED YOU IN MIDDLE SCHOOL

You're a freshman. You're Hinata's classmate and bestie. You both get along because you both are loud and energetic af. Sometimes you have your own days but Hinata got used to it already.

Hinata joined the Karasuno Volleball Club and one day he just introduced you to everybody. You all get along even though sometimes you think Tsukisihima doesnt really care about you but Yamaguchi always assures you that, that is not the case.

You dont really have a club yet so you just go help Yachi and Kiyoko prepare things before, during and after a match or practice. Basically, the whole volleyball team was your home.

You always go watch their practice matches and official matches. You went with them on training camps too. Met a lot of strange people but became friends with them as well. Especially when you're with Hinata, anybody can be your friend. He's the king of compliments and motivation.

The team is your family too. They have a special place in your heart and they are a part of your life. They know everything about you and so they take care of you like you're the youngest crow in the family. Sometimes they go overboard especially Tanaka and Noya. You are not even sure if they want to protect you or push you to do stupid things.

They know everything about you especially how people hurt you. You're a crybaby. You've got a soft heart. You forgive easily, you get hurt easily and you believe people easily.

They got an official match and the school not far from Karasuno was also included. Little did you know one of the players was your middle school bully. You always get taken aback whenever you remember or see anything from your past. You got traumatized. Your whole body shakes.

Thats why when you saw that guy in the hallway talking with his teammates your whole body was shaking and you were trying to stop it or minimize it at least. You're scared to distract the team. You dont want them to worry.

"Hey..." your tangerine bestie nudged you on your side with his elbow, "...you good?" He asked you sincerely. Worry is written all over his face, this is why you dont want them to worry.

"O-of course. W-why would-dn't I?" You tried to answer.

"Ohh. Ok then. Let's go?" the tangerine hesitantly asked.

The whole team is preparing for their match while you are sitting on the bench, holding a notebook and a pen. You’re trying your best to control your shaken state. 

You’re looking at the ground trying your best not to cry and not to distract the whole team for their upcoming first match of the day and the season. You know how much they want to go to nationals and you were there in every camps they’re into. So of all people you know how much they want to win.

You were concentrating on how you should control yourself when someone knelt in front of you and cupped your shaking hands with his. You raised your head and you saw the Captain of the team, Daichi. Behind him are the whole team looking at you with worried eyes.

“Whatever you’re thinking. Whatever you saw. We’re here. We’ll always be here.” The captain assured you which made you teary eyes. You looked on your left and there’s Yachi at the verge of crying and  on your right is Kiyoko smiling wholeheartedly at you.

You sniffed and all the boys were frozen. After three seconds they started to panic. Asahi being the first one on that list, “Uh--Uhhh what should we do. What did we do? W-what did you do Daichi?” 

“Me? Why are you blaming me? I didn’t do anything!” Daichi replied.

“Will you two stop? Who’s got a puppy here? Who brought something?! No one?! No one did?! Didn’t I tell you all kids to carry something all the time?!” Suga yelled almost heard in the whole gymnasium.

“Suga-san you didn’t bring anything either.” Ennoshita pointed out.

“I---I did, it was on my pants. I forgot to take it out in my pocket.” Suga said while scratching his nape.

“OH! OH! OH! I know something that can make y/n smile!” Noya excitedly said. Then he suddenly made eye contact with Tanaka, Hinata and Kageyama. Tanaka and Hinata grinned, obviously want to do whatever they’re going to do. Kageyama’s face turned blank. “D-Do we really have to do that? Here? In the gymnasium? Where all players can see us?” He asked.

The three looked at him scarily. “Do you want to see y/n smile or not?” Tanaka asked him.

“Y-you know guys, it’s fine. Kageyama you don---” you were cut off when Kageyama sighed and said yes. Then they suddenly sang and danced that song Meat God where they composed on the spot, one day at summer camp.

The whole team laughed so loud. Tsukkishima shaking his head probably wondering why he’s in this team. Yamaguchi enjoying it so much that he got to film it.

“OK! That’s enough! You all get ready, the game will start in ten minutes!” Coach Ukai said while trying to hold back his laughter. Takeda not even trying to hide his laughter and just laughing his ass off. All eyes were on your team.

“Wish us luck y/n!” they all yelled except Noya and Tanaka asked luck from Kiyoko as well.

They don’t even need luck because you know yourself that their hard work and dedication is stronger than just luck.

While the others were going back to the court, Tsukishima didn’t join them. He just stood there in front of you, was hesitant to do something. You frowned and titled your head, confused on why he’s just standing there when he suddenly threw you his towel and you felt something hard hit you on your forehead. You were ready to fight his ass when you saw what it was. It was a chocolate bar. You smiled. Here you thought Tsukki doesn’t really care about you.

You felt a hand on you shoulder and you looked who it was and its Kiyoko. “You see how they’re dedicated to make you smile? For them you are also important as volleyball. So don’t be hesitant to ask us anything, ok?” You were speechless. You didn’t know they care about you this much. yes they knew all about your past. But you didn’t know they’ll be so affected by it.

You stood up and excused yourself to go to the bathroom. Yachi offered to go with you but you said it’s fine. There might be an emergency later on and they need her.

You were fine going to the bathroom. The thought of seeing one of your bullies a while ago was overlapped with the images of the team laughing.Not until you went out of the bathroom and bumped into him...your bully.

The blood on your face? Gone. You felt cold. Your whole body is shaking. When he took a step towards you, you suddenly felt weak that you immediately knelt.

“y-y/n? what’s wrong?” you can hear how worried he was based from his voice. You wanted to say it’s ok. That you’re ok. But you can’t say anything. There’s a lump on your throat that causes you to get scared more. You want to say something but your voice won’t come out.

You saw him holding your shoulder and hearing him mention your name  a couple of times and suddenly everything went black.

You woke up due to the noise you heard outside, you opened your eyes and white ceiling welcomed you.You felt something soft on your back, you were in a bed. You got up and groaned. Your head hurts so bad.

“That was y/n! That was y/n right?” You can hear Suga’s loud voice outside and the others agreeing to him.

“Yes. It’s her now if you all please---no stop! One at a time boys! You just can’t enter all of you! Coach!” The nurse aggressively said trying to stop them from entering the little clinic they have. 

“Oh my god, Thank god you’re ok” Suga let out a huge sigh and held his chest when he saw me.

“Y/N!” The whole first year (except for Tsukishima), Asahi, Tanaka and Noya yelled in unison when they saw you. At the verge of crying.

Tanaka and Noya approached you and hugged you at the same time. Patting your head like a baby saying bad things to the bully you met.

“Go away that’s my best friend right there!” Hinata said and Tanaka just slapped his hand and hugged you more tightly. Noya joined in and said, “This is our baby!”

“Our baby!” Asahi and Ennoshita reminded them.

“Excuse me? Did I just hear something bullshit?” Suga butted in.

Tsukki sighed and said, “I knew he was going to react badly.” and shook his head. As usual Yamaguchi filming whatever is happening inside that little clinic packed of noisy crows.

“H-how did you all know I was here.” You asked.

“That guy you met. He was the one who carried you here.” Everyone was quiet after Daichi talked. “Why didn’t you tell us that he was your bully? He was the reason why you were shaking before. Right?” You nodded. No voice coming out. 

“I’m sorry if I always worry you guys. It’s not my intention to do that. I just---I was kind of hesitant because you have a match to face---OMG THE MATCH!” You yelled when reality hits you.

Coach Ukai chuckled. “It was finished earlier than expected. When they heard what happened to you, they got so aggressive that they want to finish it already. They won two sets in a row. Kageyama and Yamaguchi with their service ace. It was a landslide.”

“I didn’t even know we can do that.” Yachi added.

Noya and Tanaka starting to rub their face on you like cat. “Our little baby crow. We will take care of you and love you.” Noya said.

Tanaka suddenly rolled up his sleeves and said, “I’m gonna beat the shit out of him. I know where his school is.”

“Speaking of. He actually wanted to talk to you in person. To apologize of his behavior before. He said it’s fine if we’re there too.” Daichi said.

“Ohhh we gonna be there.” Suga said seriously like he was in an action movie while squinting his eyes. Everybody followed him and you saw how stupid they looked so you laughed, loud. You were so happy, about everything. Being with them.

You were cursed before, bullied, hurt and humiliated. But now, you think everything is in place, everybody laughing. You found not only one but sixteen people taking care of you and loving you with the love you so much deserve.

You are happy. Very happy.

–As they grow, the feeling doesn’t change. Katsuki has known Izu forever after all- raised together, Izuku never gives him a chance to get an over inflated ego nor does he allow Katsuki’s worth to be reduced to his quirk and the future hero he could be. 

He stops both the superiority and inferiority complex in its tracks.

—Izuku, for all intents should be considered quirkless.

He’s not., because you see, his swords are of his soul and they are still with him, still whole. He still has and carries Zangetsu and Shiro, still has their swords, still has his Hollow form, for all that his Quincy abilities have gone with the change in his blood. 

–He grows up well known in the neighborhood, bc he goes around and he helps. Katsuki is usually with him, bc he found that productive help and genuine thanks for his work helps calm him down.

–Bakugou Katsuki still thinks Midoriya Izuku is awesome, and a really good older brother figure despite Bakugo technically being older.

–Izuku teaches Bakugou, and works his body back into shape at the same time. He teaches Bakugou ‘quirkless’ fighting on top of weapons fighting, teaches him to not rely on his quirk. “For the times you cant use it without making the situation worse”

–Ichigo-Izuku goes into heroics, b.c for all that he hates that heroics was commercialized, he cant NOT help people that need it, especially when the best friend (little brother) is so determined to go into it.

–He beats out Katsuki for top spot, but Katsuki still did really good and Izuku is very proud. 

–He’s very excited to learn that his teacher will be Eraserhead, who has been his favorite hero since the time he was seven, and the Underground had saved him and his mother from a mutation quirk villain

–Eraserhead is secretly super flattered and embarrassed when he is remembered and thanked by Midoriya for saving him and his mother near the start of his career

–Aizawa is also THRILLED to see Izuku and Katsuki DONT need their quirks to wreck things. THE POTENTIAL.  THE WORK. THE PLANNING that went into being heroes. YES GOOD.

—The USJ goes differently. Ichigo pulls on his full Hollow form to fight the Nomu, his regeneration helping him stay a step ahead, all the past experiences of fighting people who should have been so far out of his league as to be laughable showing in this moment.

(Pack Instinct is a STRONG one in hollows, and Ichigo has always been very protective in nature, especially for children.)

i dont remember enough about the crucible to say what double meanings there are here (i was a lit major... the shame...) but theres also a line about rose being good at acting/There’s A Lot You Don’t Know

i like these little hints but i feel like removing them and making it less obvious was a good call all the same 

originally rose doesn’t pretend she didn’t know about the gathering and just goes “what, i told you :/” i think having her pretend to be just as shocked and “omg you GUYS no WAY” at her parents is a lot more effective at making us (and chris) think she’s on his side 

i dont remember this if it did make it to the final cut but rose mentions her mom also used hypnosis on her, kind of giving an implied sense that she might have been manipulated into this too but it isnt brought up again

one of the biggest changes is andre/”logan” was originally in a gay relationship, and like... on the one hand, there’s a particular horror in being forced into a relationship with someone outside your sexuality but this definitely reads very... predatory homosexuality/”they made him be GAY” as an Especially Scary Thing, whereas having him with an older woman instead flips over the “predatory black man/innocent defenseless white woman” stereotype in a much more effective way (which they also did with chris and rose) 

it would’ve been... more fitting with the themes to have andre be a gay man who is forced into compulsory heterosexuality if they were gonna go that route but i think the way its done in the final cut is done better than. this 

still pretty weird to me how docile and obedient “logan” is given that he’s presumably phil’s white husband in a stolen body though / same deal with the lady hes married to in the final film 

rose puts up a lot more resistance when chris wants to leave, she comes around eventually but she definitely is way less “I’m on your side, babe! :)” than she ended up being in the final cut, which i think is definitely for the better

i suspected from the beginning she probably wasnt trustworthy either but they did a way better job making the twist less blatant/we dont really know for sure if she’s in on it too yet 

she also randomly brings up the fact that she Might Be Pregnant, which is never mentioned again, im guessing probably another tactic to get him to stay since she thinks he’s trying to break up with her when he wants to leave 

if this got into the final cut i didnt catch it but we can probably assume it happened either way, the guy rose’s grandfather took over was one of her victim boyfriends which is REALLY fucked up 

another big change is that jeremy and rose’s positions are switched in the final confrontation, rose is the one who comes for chris for the procedure, and he kills her there, while jeremy is the one who comes after him later with the shotgun and gets shot by walter 

i think it hits much harder and feels much better from a narrative standpoint to have the confrontation with rose be the end, she’s the one he loved, she’s the one whose betrayal hurts the worst, she’s the one responsible for dragging him into this shit and him being forced to choke her to death is so hard to watch and such a huge moment i think it deserved to be the final showdown 

jeremy also is visibly distraught over georgina/his grandmother’s death, while i think its way creepier having rose stoically acknowledge it with no emotion

i know this wasnt supposed to be funny but i m laughinG 

last big thing is that it WAS actually the cops at the end originally, the whole last second bait and switch wave of flooding relief as we realize its ROD isnt there, chris actually gets arrested 

and like.... while the “and none of it even matters, he won, but of course the system is still going to favor the rich white family, no one’s going to believe him, he’s still ending up being blamed for this because in a black man’s story the arrival of the police does not in any way mean rescue” is also a strong point, i think having that “oh fuck oh FUCK” moment at the end where we realize what’s coming but then it turns out he’s SAVED, as a kind of “and that’s why we stick up for each other” message is so fuckign good and we want to see him win SO BAD

so many horror movies seem to think they Have to go with the hopeless “nobody wins” ending but the fact that this was in here and jordan peele made the decision to let his hero get his freedom back and GO HOME after all the shit he’s been through is like. i dont know, refreshing? i love jordan peele’s storytelling and im so glad for this change  

its such a weird ending too because he doesnt even seem like he cares. he’s done fighting. hes just like nah, man, it’s over, don’t worry about it. he’s not interested in justice or exposing whats been happening, he’s not worried it’ll start again (the armitages are all dead at this point but like, there were a lot of people at that party, this could happen again) he’s just. over it. which, yeah, after going through all that, i get it, but it feels. weird, somehow. and the thing with the song is referencing an earlier also-deleted scene where chris is forced to listen to that song over and over as a way of binding him to the white guy who’s trying to bodyswap him bc its his “favorite song” or something

so like. why is he still whistling that. it feels like a “he got out alive, but they still got in his head and he’s giving in and not fighting back anymore all the same” which!! i dont like that!! i dont know

Gosh! Just part 1 of SMTM is already 52 minutes. I can't beliece this show evolved to be basically the length of a movie lol. And then some people STILL dont get much air time.

Osshun and H2adin were good but not impactful tbh. SMTM is all about in your face impact and performance. HSR is more open to not being all the way polished (they are still high school) and also different styles/genres/performances.

I feel like Loopy would have failed if he auditioned with TheQ tbh. His first audition was weak to me especially the start.

i didnt bother with posting about ep 9 of ‘all for one’ but here we are on the last ep lol...

ok but ep 9 was literally just a big karaoke fest / fan meeting so nothing really stood out to me.... 

im starting this note halfway thru the ep after seeing huang zhibo’s line in pinlin’s group’s performance bc he did so well im so proud!!!!!!!! omgosh his stage presence has improved!! mainly this is all i wanted to say bc i actually really like zhibo even tho he didnt get much time to shine throughout this show :c ok even tho they had to color his hair for half his line, for the ending they didnt and just filtered the whole screen (thankfully) bc he really looks so nice here ahhhh 

omg he also got a random closeup later!!

omg i literally rewinded and replayed this one part so many times to watch zhibo.... i really like his dancing!!! 

ok but objectively pinlin’s group killed it, compared with the other 2 groups LOL

tuo xian mu ou.............. im crying........ their performance was so..... thoughtful. goodness even with a performance with minimal choreography, naicha designed every aspect of it with care. he always brings out the best qualities of each member through their performances and that is truly admirable. gao xin starting and ending the song, mu sen’s voice!! and guanguan’s, especially the line they sing together wow, zhang peng is beautiful and i need more of his voice too, zirui singing his heart out, long-ge’s dancing that brings people to tears, chen shun’s rap that cant be replicated, the little montage at the end, and naicha mentioned the formation at long-ge’s center part matching from their first performance and also their star levels matching from their original first grading -- bringing him back to being the only class leader with just 4 stars..... the fact that theyre all crying and hugging and selina and fei are crying im--- ahhhh gao xin and zheng peng’s friendship im truly ahhhhhh 

im sure they knew going into the last round that it would be highly unlikely that they would win... but i think they really showed us that they deserved to.

and it’s time to pass out gifts, 

Seungkwan taking them out of his sack, handing them to each of his 7 friends present

then taking the last gift out, he notices a tiny something left

peaking to see if anyone saw, he pretends it wasn’t there stuffs the “empty” sack behind him

until he’s alone in his room and curiously opens the sack

“woah” he finds two chocolate frogs and a note

‘merry christmas seungkwan~ you always give people gifts, you deserve something too, thanks so much for always making history exciting hehe’

there he is sitting on his bed becoming shy with rosy cheeks all by himself

the next day

“VERNON” Seungkwan whisper yells, “what does y/n like?” 

“the heck?” he chuckles confused, “why?” 

shrugging not so casually, “just because” 

“wow the hyungs were just teasing, do you like her?” Vernon’s eyes budge out his sockets

he huffs, “nevermind” 

and walks away

while later that night, your walking upstairs 

“oh hey y/n! what do you like” 

you tilt your head at Vernon’s question

“why?”

you quickly putting two and two together laugh, “i like chocolate frogs” 

the days go quickly and there’s one more day until class starts up again

so you and your friend decide to head to hogsmeade

just as you guys are about to step onto the carriage

your head turns to meet a large group of guys, 

“can we get in?” Seungkwan asks grinning

nodding of course, you smile

the conversation between the two of you is full of laughter, while Vernon who came along with Seungkwan and your friend made the occasional comments

when they weren’t paying attention, your friend nudges you

“hey do you like Seungkwan?” she whispers 

your eyes widen, “no!” 

but that question rings through your ears for the rest of the ride

and somehow

“i wanna go to the candy store” Seungkwan says

“ah im gonna go get a butterbeer with the hyungs” 

“awe” 

your eyes shake between them

and having a wild imagination and being quick witted, you think amused

‘did they plan this?’

“i’ll go” you say speaking up, but then checking with your friend about it

luckily she shrugs and says she has other friends she could meet before leaving

“i never said thanks for the chocolate frogs by the way!” 

“oh!” you laugh having pretty much forgot about it, “it’s no problem” 

“you know what, i’ll buy you some today!” 

you smile in thanks 

and feel this unfamiliar feeling in your heart

as he’s talking, your realizing so pretty his smile his

even him being one or two inches taller than you

and there it is again, that feeling in your chest

as if your heart is about to burst out from it’s safe place

upon entering the shop and without your approval, Seungkwan immediately buys 5 chocolate frogs

walking outside together now, 

“here” he hands you chocolate 

“cheers” you giggle accepting it then clinking the food together

“OH LOOK!” he points to something in your hand excitingly

“YOU GOT A SPECIAL ADDITION CARD!” 

chuckling at his cuteness, you raise your eyebrows, “you collect these then?” 

he nods vigorously 

“you can have it then” 

you take his hand in yours and dramatically set the card there

he gasps and bows he head, “i will protect this with my life” 

suddenly you both hear loud shrieks 

“WHAT IS THIS??” 

all his friends surround you guys, arms over his shoulders 

your honestly not really sure what happens then

but you remember saying goodbye and leave, laughing when you hear incoherent shouts

and that’s it sadly

until you stumble into the library with rolls of the parchment in hand with your friend

“OKAY, we must finish our homework tonight!” you say determined 

“YES! okay good luck!” 

maybe you guys set the goals a little two high

because two hours later your friend is asleep on the table with your about to follow after her

for the first time since in there, you look around

and become shocked when you see Seungkwan holding his hair in fists with two of his older friends next to him

he looks up and happens to make eye contact with you

you smile at him

but he starts to urgently motion you to come towards him while his friends stare

cautiously you walk over and introduce yourself to his friends

“y/n save me!!!” 

he grabs your hands holding them tightly

one of his friends tsk, “gentlemen should ask before holding a girl’s hand” 

“Jeonghan!” the other friend says in a scolding tone, but amusement seeping through his voice

Seungkwan immediately lets go of your hand and blushes, “it’s not-t-” 

“okay Kwannie,” the other friend smiles, a little mischievously in your opinion,

“y/n here, will give you a kiss on the cheek if you finish your work” 

for once your not quick to process things

“Joshua,” that Jeonghan guy mocks the Joshua guy’s tone from earlier

catching what they are saying, “i will~” 

an very obvious blush on your cheeks

“o-okay!” Seungkwan eyes you for a second but looks away, the red on his cheeks becoming redder

let’s just say his work might have not been accurate, as he ended up making the two of you escape them

dashing out the library

giggling you laugh, “if you hate it that much, i’ll have to help with your homework” 

he nods, “please” 

your eyes meet seconds too long

but neither of you look away

hearts pounding

and whether you gave him that kiss or not 

thats a secret ;)
