okay so i dont really know if this is ALLOWED because he was a real person but i would like to submit the fictionalised version of:
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (from & Juliet) (fork found in kitchen i know)
and of course i'll be talking about Austin Scott's Shakespeare! (and how he has effected my perception of reality)
so, base character, he is a pretty bad husband. he loves his wife but he leaves her and their 2 kids to go write plays. historical stuff here. he cheats on her with his players (implied that it's Gregory and/or Richard) and writes sonnets about them.
but what i love about him is that he GROWS and CHANGES! he makes mistakes throughout the whole play but by the end, he loves Anne and apologises to her!!!! it's so beautiful and i care about this couple so much
now, onto why specifically Austin Scott is one of my favourite actors for him!
so, the way he plays William is VERY cute. just generally he smiles a lot and i always love that. hes so PROUD of his ending for Romeo & Juliet, and then on one of the lyrics 'your every wish will be done' he POINTS TO HIMSELF AND SMILES on 'will'. because he is Will. he Will Shakespeare (theres a joke in the show where he says 'i will. Shakespeare!') and i love that Austin plays with this. maybe other actors do too but he puts emphasis on it and i love it
as for how he's affected my perception of reality, it's just that i've gotten so obsessed with specifically HIS Shakespeare that at points i have legitimately thought 'they need to stop whitewashing Shakespeare' before realising that. no they dont. because that literally isnt whats happening
he recently left the show after around 1 year in it and i miss him. the new actor is great too but this isn't about him
he's also played Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton! hes probably my favourite actor for him too, hes fantastic
i have like one more &j submission sorry. i like this show a lot
"they need to stop whitewashing Shakespeare" is iconic fr 🤣. That's what I want. I want everybody to stop thinking of white people as the default existence to the point where it's like "why is he white" lmao 🤣
Nah but I can see you do love this show a lot lol. So is everyone in the show Black? Or at least of color? Because at first I was like "well maybe not" but it's starting to look like it. And yes, he's a character in a play, so he counts 🤷🏾♀️
And ooooh see on the one hand I can't abide by cheaters but... I guess at least he went back to Anne and apologized 😭 we take Black characters of all stripes here 😭 His actor is adorable though 👀 such a cute smile!

thinking about the physical toll being tortured by armand took on daniel's body, even if he doesnt remember it. the injuries, the blood loss, the pain, the bruises and scars he was probably never able to explain. even if he didnt remember what happened, that trauma was locked into his body, and its probably in part why his life fell apart the way it did over and over again. how can you heal from a trauma that you literally cant remember ever happening? no amount of therapy would unlock it, it was magically sealed away within him. and he couldnt tell anyone about louis biting him, let alone everything else that happened to him. that fear and anger and pain were locked away deep inside of him and hes just now realizing why his life has been the way it is. armand made him forget but the impact it had on him still exists today.

since we all appear to be talking about izzy 'calling the police' on stede id like to offer my silly little two cents:
its not like the navy wasn't actively looking for him anyway??????
at most, izzys actions sped up badminton catching up with stede, but its made very clear that badminton wanted Stede dead well before this, and was willing to use whatever he could to find him- whos to say jackie wouldnt have cut a deal on her own? that any other pirate thats seen them being unsubtle in a port wouldn't take the opportunity to make a quick buck over a guy who is Nobody and holds no influence that could lead to any consequences for them?
in reality izzy is probably the only person who would receive negative repercussions to selling out stede, given his personal connection with ed- any other pirate would probably have gotten away unscathed, anonymous. they likely wouldnt have even been present like izzy was. izzy had personal stakes, anyone else would have taken the money and ran
the way i see it, with or without izzy the events of episode 10 probably would have happened in some degree, izzy just expedited the timeline

with my phantom hourglass replay, there are two things i noticed;
a possible theme you could glean from the game is action vs inaction, and i think it's especially prevalent before you even leave mercay the first time, with oshus frequently urging link to not go after the ghost ship, then to just wait until the broken bridge is fixed, and seems reluctant at every turn while link and ciela are more than eager to go and do something about this problem, and the people of mercay in general talking about things and their problems but never seeming to act on their fears or desires, as well as the mention that due to the ghost ship, very very few people are still sailing around, while linebeck is one of the only people we see in the game actively going after the ghost ship and still sailing around. i might make a longer post just talking more about the action vs inaction in phantom hourglass but i just noticed it a bit and thought it was a bit of an interesting sort of theme you could find in the game.
linebeck moves so fucking much. i think he moves more than any npc in the rest of the game. not just in his intro cutscene where he is very animated, just in how much he moves when just standing in his little idle post, it's damn near distracting when the camera is focused on him, he moves a lot. i don't think i've really acknowledged how much he moves, and it really gives the impression that he's antsy or eager to get going, both of which fit him pretty well with how he acts.
