if i had to guess I'd assume it's his introduction that engraves this perception in people's minds. bsd works quite often by subverting common tropes and the expectations a reader may have of them, and kunikida is no different; the guy who has a tight schedule he must follow to a t, who gets upset when things don't go to his plan, who has precise plans for every aspect of his life, who, to put frankly, has a stick up his ass - this is a character you'd normally expect to follow rules, to be a teacher's pet, stuff like that, bc that's how it is in almost every media with characters like him

but ofc, bsd comes and subverts it, as it does with p much all its characters. he sticks to plans, but he can improvise. he follows his own ideals, but not ones others set for him (unless he has established respect to them). he is methodical and serious, but he's hot-headed and vulgar

the thing is. i don't think these subversions are particularly vague compared to other characters' or smth. i think it's more of a matter that characters like him - or at least like the first impression he gives - are usually not the most popular, so people who already don't like the trope he will subvert later in the story, aren't gonna pay attention enough to see it

and like. i can't exactly blame them. most ppl don't go into media with the purpose of analyzing it. most ppl who enjoy bsd are casual fans and will likely latch onto a few characters and not dig deeper into others. and it's fine. i can't blame them. but it DOES make me sad sometimes to know they're missing out on such a fun and interesting character

a little insane to me to see ppl perceive kunikida as like. law abiding citizen who never steps out of line and always does as he's told. you'd expect with a set of qualities like this that he'd be a cop, but there's a reason he's in the ada, that does things that aren't quite within the law's confinement. also more simply dude he has "authority" in his list of dislikes do you honestly think he would just blindly follow orders. just bc my guy has ocd doesn't mean he's a bootlicker please don't misread him like that.

#this isn't even getting into how his arc is going bc i think it's one of the most interesting arcs I've seen #one thing i think pushes ppl away from him is when he tells atsushi they can't save everyone #and ppl get mad. bc atsushi immediately proves it wrong too. and they think kunikida is just being mean and pessimistic #but that's the POINT bc that's what his arc RELIES ON. he keeps breaking more and more because HE can't save everyone #him telling atsushi that is more of a reminder to himself. i think. to toughen up. but he can't follow his own advice #and this is another way in which he can't follow his own ideals. another thing that shakes his already shaken confidence #he couldn't save that girl. and now he can't even move on from it. so now the others can't rely on him. so-#this is why fyodor and jouno attack him like that. they're hitting areas that are already cracked in hopes he will break completely #and. ranpo telling him he is the heart of the agency. might add stress but this is also what he needs i think #he needs a reminder that his ideals are worth something and he needs to know he is actually helping. i think #this is what keeps him strong and helps him move on from the ones he couldn't save. not entirely. but enough to take a step #ok this turned into an entire kunikida analysis lol sorry 🙏 hope whoever reads it likes it tho 🫡#i may be entirely off too but at least this is how i see him! as for the post itself. this is my assumption!#dan rambles #KUNIKIDA LOVING HOURS

author's note: motivation sparked up a single bit so i'm gonna write this(i hope everyone's doing well^^) and this was made with m!reader in mind but it's pretty much gn anyway

๑ Dazai

-this man would legit not leave you alone even for a second no matter what

-when you get into arguments with people about whatever he always tries to awkwardly drag you away like "okay that's enough more fighting--" with a smile on his face

-honestly just punch him in the face if he insists on something like "2+2=5" just to annoy you

-he likes how smart you are but likes taking advantage of it a lot too

-he has asked you stuff like "if we jumped down from this building together now, and the wind blew towards the east, where and how fast do you think we'd fall while hugging eachother?" in the middle of a date(the people who heard him got fucking concerned)

-if you answer him in any way he's gonna get super giddy and ask more questions

-and if you don't answer him he'll also ask more questions

-and yes he would love to try on your glasses everytime he sees you and yes he will show you his hand asking how many fingers you see

-in the end you'll probably have to flip a coin

-he always says he's heads and you're tails because he always believes he's right

-and when the coin lands on tails aka you, he starts to whistle and look away like they do in cartoons

-loves your glasses and will buy new ones for you every now and then

-literal hell with him but he acts innocent once he angers you

-if you argue with other people he'll agree with you and argue with the person as well even tho he has no idea what you're saying and sometimes he says dumb stuff like "yes it's exactly how [name] said because the grass is green!"

-makes you feel like you should kick him out of your house at times but then again he'll just teleport back into your bed under the covers and you'll see him there smiling at you "hi i was cold."

-hides your glasses on purpose and loves when you get mad at him for that

-you'll get them back at night only if you cuddle with him so fuck it

-it annoys her sm sometimes but she just accepts it

-like if it's late at night she'll just tell you "goodnight." and turn her back away from you as a saying of "enough, go to sleep."

-she just agrees with you whenever you try to argue with her opinion or thought because she seriously has no time to listen to you prove everything to her

-and she'll keep your glasses clean, buying you new ones if anything happens to the other ones

-the BEEF you would have with this man unless you agreed to every single word he said

-he'll always listen to your rants and all ofc unless he spots something wrong with what statement you said and he'll correct you immediately because yes

-what i'm saying is that it's either super easy or super complicated between the two of you

-oh yeah and glasses are no issue for either of you so if he feels nice he'll buy you new ones

asks lots of rethorical questions and lowkey pushes you into telling him all about it (he just needs to know) but he doesn't actually force you to tell

"Bella, you know I'd never do or say such things to you. Your exes just weren't real men, aight? Didn't know how to handle a beauty like you" (he thinks he's a smooth talker fr)

super kind to you overall; he'll pay attention not to be toxic to you

"Wanna play a game, bella?" Dazai cooed, curling on the couch next to you.

You carefully set down the cup of honeyed tea you were drinking and scooted closer to him, a wide smile stretching your lips.

"How about a game to get to know each other better? We ask questions and the other one answers. I'll even let you go first my sweet." he said with a wink.

"Um... ok?" you said reluctantly "Cats or dogs?"

"Cats. If you could eat anything right now, what would it be?" he asked playfully.

This little game of yours went on for around twenty minutes until your boyfriend finally decided to ask you a more serious question.

"What's the worst relationship you've ever had?"

Although he asked that question in a lighthearted tone, there was a hint of urgency to it. Seeing the blank expression on your face, Dazai added:

"It's been weighing on my mind for a while now."

"Well... I gotta say all my exes were kinda shitty. I've never actually been in a healthy relationship and the worst part is that I didn't even know they were unhealthy at that time." A light chuckle rolled off your lips as you reached for your cup and took a small sip. "You see, I didn't wanna tell you about this. I assumes it would be a burden"

Dazai's eyes softened upon hearing your statement. "Bella" he began, taking your hand in his "Nothing that you do or say will ever be a burden to me."

"Alright then" you replied with a sheepish smile "Then I guess I could tell you"

And then you did. You told him everything you've been through: your first ex who never let you go out of the house without him because he thought you'd cheat on him, your second who always made you cook dinner for him because "that's what a real woman would do" and the last one, who constantly brought his friends over although he knew how shitty they were with you. As he listened to you tell your story, his thumb gently brushed over the soft skin on back of your hand. It did hurt to hear what you've been through, but what pained him most was the fact that you didn't think he'd understand and accept your trauma.

When you were finally done talking, a deep silence fell between the two of you.

"You know I'd never treat you like that?" he eventually said.

You gave a small nod "I know. I just... I guess I'm not used to healthy relationships."

Dazai's arm snaked over your shoulders as he pulled you in a gentle hug; your head coming to rest on his chest. He simply placed a chaste kiss on the crown of your head.

"In that case I'm honoured to be the one to teach you what love should be like"

Your boyfriend's ultra deduction was something that never ceased to amaze you; but still you didn't expect him to catch on so fast on the fact that you have never been treated right in a relationship before.

When he finally called you out on it all you could do was look him dead in the eyes; your fingers fumbling with a loose string on the cuffs of your hoodie.

"So?" he asked again, pouting.

"Yea, you're right. I've never had a healthy relationship"

"I knew it!" he exclaimed but immediately regained his composure when he realised this wasn't something he should be happy about.

"Look, sugar. I won't force you to tell me anything about it but just know that I'm not like them."

"I know Ranpo my sweet but-"

"Nuh uh" he interrupted, pressing his index fingers against your lips to shush you "Let me finish. First off, you're allowed to go out with your friends whenever you want to. Just text me from time to time so I know you're safe. Second off, please tell me if I'm ever crossing your boundaries. And third stop apologising for every single thing you do, ok? It's not a good habit"

"I know I'm sorry but-"

Ranpo raised a brow and smiled lightly "What did I just say love?"

You took a deep breath in and returned the smile "No apologies, noted." After a minute of silence you eventually spoke again, this time with more confidence "Thank you dear. For being so patient and understanding with me. Maybe one day I'll tell you about my exes, I want you to know. But I don't wanna let the past affect us."

"And it doesn't, my sweet. Did you forget?" he giggled, flashing you his signature smirk. "I'm the best boyfriend ever. Nothing could ever determine me to see you as less than perfect."

You suddenly leaned in and placed a kiss on his lips; the saccharine gesture taking him by surprise.

"I'm so happy I'm with you Ranpo. You make me happy." you beamed and the detective felt his heart melting. His entire body felt like pudding, a soft, mushy mess. This was the effect you always had on him.

Your boyfriend hugged your waist and burried his head in your chest as your fingers combed through his dark locks.

"I'll do my best to be worthy of you" you said after a while.

And Ranpo only nodded, smiling against your chest. His slender fingers found yours and loosely intertwined with them "You already are, sugar."

"What? What do you mean if I let you go out with your friends tonight?"

JUST BECAUSE FLOWERS🌹

It was around 8:30 p.m when you heard the door open, announcing the arrival of your partner; you quickly discarded the fluffy blanket you were wrapped in and tip-toed to the hallway.

"Chuu. Let me tell you what happened today you won't believe it!" you said excitedly as you turned the corner and... you stopped dead in your tracks.

There he was; Chuuya Nakahara, your beloved boyfriend, holding a bouquet in his arms. Honeysuckles, milesii irises and golden daylilies perfectly wrapped in a coffee coloured craft paper with drawings of the Eiffel tower and French bistors. 'La vie est belle', it read.

"Hey honey. Sorry I'm so late tonight but I stopped to get this for you." he said casually as he handed you the flowers.

You took the bouquet from his hands and held it to your chest, breathing in the sweet, fresh scent of the blossoms. Chuuya must've noticed the disdained look on your face for he came closer to you, gently placing an arm on your shoulder.

"My love are you ok? Do you not like the flowers or..."

Suddenly you burst into tears, a wide smile rising to your lips. "No Chuu I love them. I love them so much thank you I just-" you stammered, choking on your tears. "I just never got flowers before."

Chuya's heart sank upon hearing your words, a wave of sadness washing over him. "My sweet love." he began, his calloused hands gingerly cupping your tear stained cheeks. "You deserve all the flowers in the world."

His words only made you cry harder. Both of you were smiling, gazing into each others' eyes; from time to time Chuuya wiped away a pearly tear that streamed down your face with his thumb. Between you the flowers were getting squished but neither of you could care less.

"You're a silly girl, you know? Crying over something like this." he said playfully, trying to lighten up the mood.

"Oh shut it" you replied in the same tone as you kissed him on the cheek.

Your boyfriend took the flowers from your arms and carefully placed them on the counter before pulling you in a tight hug; he breathed in your scent and God, you were even sweeter than the blossoms.

"You know I'll give you everything you want and more darling." he said in a hushed voice, causing you to sob quietly.

He let you cry for a while, whispering sweet nothings and caressing your hair until you finally calmed down.

"I'm sorry Chuu. That was embarassing" you chuckled lightly but your boyfriend didn't miss the hint of guilt in your voice.

"Not at all, silly." he said, pullng away. "I know we've talked about this before, the way your past relationships impact our own and I wanna remind you that it's ok if you react like this. To be honest you're cute when you get so worked up over my little gifts"

"Hey don't tease me" you cried out, wiping away the last tear from your reddened cheeks. "Or I'll cry again"

"Now we can't have that, can we?" he replied as he slid an arm around your waist. "Let's put those flowers in a vase and get you a glass of water. I think you need it love."

A smile rose to your lips as you looked at him, chest swelling with love and pride "Yea. I think I do, love."

Akechi's taste in Literature

I've taken an interest in the books Akechi reads. Obviously from the first time you talk with him, you can already tell what he tends to: psychology, philosophy, and mythos. Also, I read at least a little bit from every text. One of my professors out there is proud of me. I hope. So: let's talk about it!

Ok, but why care? Quick Introduction

No particular reason. I simply want to tinker with his brain. I think it could give us insight on the character! And there's an easy way to dismiss this conversation: Akechi uses books as a way to appear intelligent. I don't think that's wrong per se, but he does express an interest in psychology and philosophy in his third semester Jazz Jin discussions. His thieves den conversations also point to interests in mythos. Use this as a "Annoying Person Bookshelf" if you'd like, I certainly will.

Aristole's De Anima (Mementos Mission - Chapter 3)

De Anima, or "On the Soul" [Leob Classical Library], is an examination of the soul and how it functions within the body. It's pretty dense but easily accessible. On page 15,

"There are times when men show all the symptoms of fear without any cause of fear being present. If this is the case, then clearly the affections of the soul are formulae expressed in matter."

Now, I'm not going to read every book, that would be a huge investment. And unfortunately I am still a university student, so I'll stick to the introduction/first chapters or so. But anyways, to the point of the quote, De Anima tends to get metaphysical. Theory time: Akechi has morbid fascinations with the soul. Not only because he well, kills people, but also messes with the restraints on their heart. I choose this quote because it's a good summary of the kind of body horror someone messing with you in the metaverse is like. Hegel's Dialectics (did Akechi misquote Hegel?) - Rank 1

Look, almost all of these texts are slogs to get through, so I wouldn't blame Akechi for not catching this. Or not reading the 2017 in-universe equivalent of cliffnotes. Note: Dialectics refers to the structure/strategy that Hegel uses, not a text itself. Looking at the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy we see that Hegel never makes mention of the thesis, antithesis, and synthesis idea. Rather, thesis-antithesis-synthesis is a pattern in his arguments. These are also projected by people reading his text, so we can't fully be sure he's using this to formulate most of his arguments. So not only has Akechi forgotten synthesis, the "unification", but also the fact that Hegel doesn't talk about this. Did he read Hegel? Probably. Did he retain the information? Questionable. Do I blame the writers for making the mistake? mmmm. Maybe. If you're asking me to guess which book he read, I would estimate it was The Phenomenology of Spirit [Google Books]. And yes, I'm going to say it was just because of this quote on page 9 that just, screams Black Mask:

"The force of the mind is only as great as expression; its depth only as, as deep as its power to expand and lose itself when spending and giving out its substance."

Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin vs Sherlock Holmes (Herlock Sholmes) (P5A)

This book I read because my curiosity definitely got the better of me. Since I've gotten into Persona 5 again, I've been DYING to read this one, but never got around to it. I think this one is also interesting to look at based on how it was represented in the anime, a crow escaping a bird cage. I can say that this doesn't happen in the book, but this is why I think Akechi is self inserting on Holmes/Sholmes here. Holmes is much freer as a person in this text than Akechi, but also in a deep rivalry with Lupin. Their banter is also pretty reminiscent of what they [Joker and Akechi] have, but... with older language. Longer quote, so here's an image in its place:

As pointed out by a couple people, we can't leave out this series. (credits to @heavy-metal-papillon) I don't know why my mind blanked and left this out. Because when I was doing research for this post someone had mentioned it. Just by name, it should be obvious why this is here! Carl Jung's Two Essays on Analytical Psychology

Okay I'm NOT reading this (a lie, i did. [Internet Archive]) but this was the foundational text on the Jungian Archetype of the Persona as well as addressing concepts such as "the will to power." Going to leave this quote from page 78 for you to munch on:

"Logically, the opposite of love is hate, and of Eros, Phobos (fear); but psychologically it is the will to power. Where love reigns, there is no will to power; and where the will to power is paramount, love is lacking. The one is but the shadow of the other..."

There's a couple things here that point to Akechi reading this, but ultimately I just headcanon that he wants to reason through why Personas exist.

Similarly to how Joker can read about the other PTs Personas, Akechi does as well. Well, if his morbid discussion about Captain Kidd in the Thieves Den is an indicator. Does this mean Akechi is familiar with the Carmen stage opera? I think so. Besides, it's also the smartest move. Akechi (head)canonically reads lovecraft.

Conclusion

Akechi really enjoys psychology and philosophy, and while some of it seems like he's doing it for attention/to appear smarter, he DOES continue to show interest in third-semester/thieves den. I still can't forgive him for reading Freud.

He drags Kenji into pretending to be 10 and going to stores with the two of you so you can get good deals or free snacks (they're all for him)

It does lead to Kenji following him into his lunch dates with you though, which he hates because he can't ever let Kenji pay for himself since he's so young (childhood trauma is real)

He definitely plays up being a "fun dad" around him and Kyouka, especially when you're around

Convinced he's relieving the time he had with his parents before they died, so that's part of why he enjoys it so much

Oda Sakunosuke

One day he arrived home to an empty house. Oda frantically called out your name, but you wouldn’t respond. He searched every room, the closets, even the shed outside, but he found nothing. Now he started to panic.

Did you manage to escape?

No that couldn’t be possible.

He looked around the house for any signs of struggle, and he found quite a few. He found some blood, your hair, and a note telling him about your whereabouts.

How did he not notice those things before?

As he read the note, he only got angrier and angrier. He felt as if he was about to explode from how infuriated he was.

He immediately grabbed his guns, put them in his coat, then headed to where your location was. He was beyond furious at this point. He tried to calm himself down, but he just couldn’t. Your life was on the line because he was unable to do the one thing he promised to do; protect you.

Let’s just hope that he felt a little bit of mercy towards the poor souls that he’d be directing his anger towards.

Scenario…

You shuffled uncomfortably in the ropes that you were bound up in. As of now you were sitting on a wooden chair in a dimly lit room. It was cold, and you were injured badly. You felt as if you were going to pass out. There were no signs of life besides the occasional laughter from just outside of the door. This honestly had to be worse than when Oda first took you in.

You were about to pass out from exhaustion, but then you started to heard faint gun shots and people screaming. This immediately put you on edge. The only thing you could do is stare at the door in anticipation. Where you about to die? Was this it?

After one final guttural scream, the gunshots stopped and you let out a shaky breath. Your ears rang at the loud noises that the firearm had produced.

Your vision was starting to get hazy as the door burst open. You slowly looked up and your gaze met a familiar red head’s. There was a small amount of blood trickling down his cheek alongside some stains on his tan coat.

“Oda?” You asked weakly. “You came.”

Oda quickly ran behind you and started to untie the ropes that you were bound in. “Of course I did, darling.”

“I didn’t think you would,” you muttered. You then looked at the door way; the enemies bodies flooded the floor. “You said you wouldn’t kill people… Why?”

Oda finished untying you, then walked in front of you. He then cupped your cheek. “They hurt you.”

“I’m fine.”

“You’re about to pass out,” he snapped back. “C’mon, let’s get you back home.”

You looked up at him with no energy left to argue. You nodded, then looked down. “Are you going to keep me locked up again?”

The man only sighed at your question. He then picked you up bridal style and started to walk away with you in his arms. “Close your eyes.”

You did as you were told and closed your eyes. As soon as you left the room you were held in, the smell of death instantly invaded your senses. You scrunched up your face in disapproval. You hoped that you wouldn’t have to smell anything like this again in your life. It made you nauseous.

“We’re almost outside, my love,” Oda said after a while.

Eventually you felt the light invading your senses. You slowly opened your eyes, then immediately closed them. You had to readjust to the light since the room you were kept in was barely illuminated. It took you a few minutes, but you were finally able to open your eyes without the need to squint.

The two of you shared no words as you journeyed back to your eternal prison. You felt weak; you were unable to move, it hurt to talk, and you could barely see.

Eventually the two of you reached Oda’s home. He opened the front door then carefully placed you on the sofa. He ran off somewhere, then came back with a small med kit.

He opened it and took out some rubbing alcohol. Oda then started to treat your wounds. You hissed as you felt the alcohol disinfect your open wounds.

“I apologize,” your captor eventually spoke up. “I was unable to protect you.”

“It’s fine,” you said as you winced. “There was nothing you could’ve done.”

Oda stayed silent, deep in thought. He then took out the bandages from the med kit and started to wrap up your wounds. He started with the ones on your arms, making sure to not put too much pressure on it. He was careful with his movements, not wanting to hurt you.

When he moved onto your other arm he spoke up once more. “I’ll have to keep a better eye on you. I’ll ask Dazai for some henchmen to guard you.”

You hummed at his words. In the moment you didn’t know what to say, so you opted to staying silent.

“(Name)? I love you. Don’t ever forget that.”

Ranpo Edogawa

When he arrived to a quiet, empty house, he somehow managed to stay calm. He immediately put on his glasses and used his ability to figure out what happened.

Ranpo then deduced that some random gang decided to break into his house and rob him. When they realized that you were there locked away, they thought it would be best to kidnap you to get rid of any evidence.

Ranpo calmly headed back to the agency and told them about your disappearance. He of course made it seem like you stayed with him willingly, but nonetheless he told them.

The agency believed him.

Well, all except for one. Dazai didn’t believe he was telling the whole truth, but he wouldn’t pry. He had issues of his own.

The man was strangely calm. You’d think he’d be panicking in a situation like this, but he wasn’t.

He truly is a strange case.

Eventually they tracked down your location, and they got you out of there.

Scenario…

You lay down on the ground, fighting consciousness. You had to stay awake. If you didn’t, well, you don’t know what would happen to you. You were scared.

The room you were kept in was well lit. There was a small bed that was infested with bed bugs, a window with bars over it, and blood all over the walls. Your best guess was that this once served as a torture room. The thought of that alone chilled you to the core. Were you next? You hated that thought…

As you were about to close your eyes you started to hear yelling. You frowned as you managed to stand up from the ground. You then headed towards the door and looked through the small window that it had.

The sight before you was nothing you’ve seen before. It was Yosano, Kenji, Atsushi, and Ranpo. They all were fighting your kidnappers, aiming to disarm and or subdue each one.

Ranpo was the one to notice you watching the four fighting. He immediately darted to the room you were kept in and unlocked the door. Ranpo then opened it and tackled you in a hug.

You winced as you two fell to the ground. Ranpo was holding you so tightly— you felt as if you couldn’t breathe.

“Ranpo,” you said. “Too tight..!”

He immediately loosened his grip then looked up at you. As he hugged you he made sure to avoid any injuries you sustained.

“Sorry,” he mumbled. “Are you alright?”

You nodded. “I’m fine. I’m just very tired is all.”

He looked over some of the injuries you had received. He then looked over at Yosano and called her over.

Yosano ran over towards you with a slight frown. She practically had to throw Ranpo off of your body before she looked at your injuries. Once she noticed a particularly deep cut on your thigh, she used her ability to heal you. If the cut was left was left without any treatment, you would’ve bled out.

Butterflies swarmed you as you let out a relieved sigh. You were still tired, yes, but at least you weren’t on deaths doorstep anymore.

Yosano got up and joined back in the fight. Ranpo then walked over to you and sat next to you. He took out one of your favorite candies from his pocket and gave it to you with a neutral expression.

“Take it,” he spoke. “You look like you need it.”

“It’s not drugged this time, right?” You whispered. “I’d much rather be conscious when you drag me back to your place.”

Ranpo sighed. “It’s not drugged. Don’t worry.”

You slowly unwrapped the candy, then plopped it in your mouth. You then directed your gaze towards the fight with a saddened expression. Most of your kidnappers were currently incapacitated.

“Thank you,” you said as you swallowed the candy.

Ranpo nodded. “It’s the least I could do for letting you get kidnapped and get hurt.”

You only stayed silent.

“(Name), I love you so much. I know you don’t think I mean it, but I truly do.”

Kinktober Day 1-Atsushi/Reader w/ promts Cunnilingus and First Time

Notes: Kinktober day 1 yayayay, also i intended for all of these to be cutsy little drabbles, you know like 800 words or something, but now all of them sit at over 2,000 words sooooooo

Never before has four feet felt so far apart. It's like you're stranded on one side of a large crater, just barely able to see your boyfriend on the other side. And if that wasn't enough, the crater is clearly made up of the most awkward silence known to man. Not a single bird dares to fly across the skies, scared of the consequences that might ensue, less they dare to traverse these tense skies.

Ok maybe you're being a bit dramatic, but the inocuos four feet of comforter between you and your boyfriend Atsushi really does feel so big, and yet so small. Your fingers tap anxiously against the blankets, drawing little invisible patterns on the blue comforter. Atsushi’s own fingers are clasped anxiously in his lap, his foot tapping on the floor. You clear your throat, and interrupt the silence that had enveloped the two of you.

“Where’s Kyoka?”

Atsushi startles, a little shiver running the length of his body and he avoids your eyes as he responds. “Dazai took her and Ranpo out for all you can eat dessert.” The silence envelopes the two of you again. Your heart pounds against your chest, your pulse embarrassingly fast, and you know for a fact Atsushi can hear it with those tiger senses of his. Your only reassurance is that you can hear his heartbeat as well, pounding just as embarrassingly as your own.

Atsushi jumps to his feet, startling you out of your own embarrassment. “I'll get you some water.” he stutters out and with that he's gone, and you can hear the sound of the kitchen tap running. You take a deep breath, studying your breath and taking off your coat and hat, forgotten in your mortification.

You and Atsushi have been dating for about a month, and had gotten pretty comfortable with each other, but one step into his house alone and all of a sudden it was like the first date all over again. If you were being honest, you were really hoping something would happen. You loved Atsushi dearly, and would want nothing more than to move to the next step with him, and finally connect on a more intimate level. And it would also be nice to shed your Virgin status.

Footsteps notify you of the return of your boyfriend, as he makes his way back out of the kitchen, a glass of water in his hand. It happens in slow motion. Your usually careful boyfriend’s foot catches on the side of the rug, and he trips, the glass in his hand flying towards you. You dodge the glass, but you're not so lucky with the water, and it splashes all over your shirt, soaking the white fabric. Atsushi rushes forward, apologies on his lips.

“I'm so sorry, Name! Are you ok?” He grips your shoulders, checking you over for injuries just in case. You let out a laugh, all the earlier awkwardness gone from the air. “Yeah i'm fine, i just got a little wet,” You don't notice as your boyfriend looks down, his eyes widening at the sight of your black lacy bra, showing through the see through fabric of your shirt. He interrupts with a shriek, falling backwards onto the floor in an effort to get away, his hands over his eyes as he babbles, “I'm so sorry I didn't mean to see! I mean I swear I didn't see anything! Nope! Nothing at all!”

You stare at him, confused, until your eyes follow his as they drift down. You feel your cheeks flush, and you want to cover your chest, but fate seems to have presented you with an opportunity. Your boyfriend manages a whole sentence, his cheeks still furiously red.

You pull back, meeting his eyes. “I want you Atsushi, I've been wanting this for a while.”

His lips meet yours again, and he stands, pulling you with him to the bed. He sits and you follow suit, sinking onto his lap, your lips still sealed. His kiss is soft and familiar, but as you settle on his lap it changes, becoming a little more hungry. Atsushi’s hands fall to your waist, holding you against him as your hands tangle in his hair, your bodies pressed so close. You can feel his heartbeat, pounding against his chest, and you know he can feel yours in turn. You feel unstable and out of breath as you pull apart, udjusting on his lap as you feel a hardness pressed against your panties. Atsushi muffles a groan and a muttered apology in your neck. He shakes some of the haze out of his eyes. “In the bedside table.” You reach around blindly, and your fingers come in contact with it, pulling it out and raising an eyebrow, reading the words written in blindingly white text on the wrapper.

“John's ultra soft bandages?” Atsushi, who has just finished shedding his pants, coughs and snatches it from you. “Dazai gave them to me, he said they were from a free giveaway.”

If you were not in the middle of something, the fact that apparently bandage companies give away free condoms now would have more of an impact, but you're far too distracted by Atsushi’s clumsy hands as they tear open the packaging, and roll the condom down his length.

Maybe it's because you trust him with your entire heart, but you don't feel apprehensive or nervous, even as he lines his throbbing length up with your hole, and ever so slowly nudges in. The stretch isn't painful, not even by a longshot with all that preparation he did, but it still burns a bit as he finally bottoms out with a breath, his hips trembling as he holds himself still for your sake.

I'm bored so here's so some random bsd thoughts

- Almost anyone who was stabbed in the recent chapters isn't actually dead, the only actually dead character being Bram. I have nothing to support this idea other than the fact that Asagiri is allergic to killing off characters

- Dazai's character bothers me in so many ways. What's his backstory before the mafia? Why does he wear the bandages? What is his connection to the book? Why is he able to break the fourth wall? What else does he know that we don't? He's clearly meant to be the character that keeps you wanting to know more, but how long is it going to take before we do know more? I have a feeling many of our questions about him won't be answered, and that just makes him more intriguing

- I had this weird idea yesterday that maybe Dazai was already dead or smth and the reason that abilities didn't work on him and the reason he can't die is because his ability developed right as he was dying bringing him back from the dead, leaving him feeling detached from humans and preventing abilities from harming him. I doubt that's the b case, but it would make for an interesting au

- Has our Dazai also created a singularity with the book that we don't know about, or is it just Beast Dazai

- What else is Sigma going to learn while going through Fyodor's memories?

-How tf is the PM deal supposed to happen if all of the ADA are dead or MIA? It can't, so what's going to happen to our Ada members? Is the deal even going to happen? If Mori's still alive, it probably will, so maybe the Ada will end up ok after all

- Does anyone at the ADA actually know how close Dazai was to Mori? I'm assuming Ranpo and Fukuzawa have the chance to but like what about Yosano? Do they know about the whole Demon Prodigy thing? If the PM deal does go down and Dazai gets picked I hope mori drops this on everyone at the Ada like a ton of bricks. I think it would be interesting to know that they saved one of Mori's old apprentices but then accidentally gave him access to another.

- How tf is Agatha Christie going to make this worse than it is

- Is verlaine finally going to show up?

i just checked ur dnf criteria on ur carrd and i think what you said about mori is definitely interesting! im interested in why exactly he's your favourite character, if you're okay with telling me? /gen (i personally don't like mori because yosano is one of my absolute favourite characters and i cant forgive him for what he put her through, but i swear i dont hate people who like him. im actually very interested, and i would like to expand my view of mori)

ok so first of all: kudos to you for having a reason to dislike mori that is both personal and also correct. he did terrible things to yosano and that is canon! i'm also very glad that you're open to listening since a lot of ppl in this fandom aren't (the number of times i've been accused of being a child predator for liking mori is at least 5! this is solely from twitter tho not tumblr)

also yes i do ship ranpoe. just getting that outta the way before the mori moment begins

mori is my favorite character mostly for reasons unknown to me. i just love him a lot. my first bsd fanfic i posted, which is also the first one i finished in march of this year, is a fukumori mainly mori-centric fic about the two of them having a baby, and over the course of writing that i fell deeply in love with his character, both the way i wrote him and how he is in canon.

he's so very clearly (in my eyes and the eyes of other mori enjoyers) traumatized it's almost painful. combining how he is solely in canon with the experiences of the MCs of vita sexualis and the dancing girl (i have not yet read these novels but my good friend geeg has talked abt it extensively) opens up a whole new dimension to this too.

in fact, as i've stated multiple times before: of the main BSD cast, the two who i think most likely have CSA trauma (there could def be others but this is just from what i know) are probably dazai and mori (notably, separate experiences divorced from each other, meaning i 100% do not believe mori SA'd dazai or anyone else for that matter given there's no canonical evidence to support this)

he's hot. and i like characters i think are hot (and ones i think aren't but yknow this gives him more points)

he's mysterious and we know very little about him

he's so fucking tragic as a character. a man canonically full of regrets, who never considers his own feelings but uses himself for the greater good of his city and his country, who is constantly forced to swallow his true feelings because he has to appear as a strong leader all the time and can only hope to express himself even a little bit when he's alone with his own ability? the agony and hells are real

like there's so much, this is just a few reasons why i like him bc i can't think of all of them off the top of my head but i'm happy to talk about him whenever

Before I start yappin I wanna say I’m so stoked for chapter 4- I heaven read past the author note (and I probably won’t get to read it until this evening ;-;) but my theory for this chapter is that Dazai gets another fishie companion (due to… a certain response from a certain ask I sent a while back 👀)

But I’ve been trying to find a soft toy fish that fits my headcanon of Fishie for a while but the thing is my idea is so specific and I’m fairly sure the actual toy doesn’t exist now. ;-;

But I was on the Jellycat website today and I saw the whale and the sardine toys (I couldn’t get the links to work sadly but they’re both on the website- I don’t think there’s a second sardine toy but the whale is the cute light blue one ^v^) and I figured that Fishie kinda looks like a mix of the two- like it’s the same size and blue colour as the whale, as well as having a flat surface so Fishie can ‘sit up’ on its own. But it’s also a very similar shape and design as the Sardine… do you see my vision?

I also considered that it might be one of those plush baby toys with all the little tags and tassels for sensory play, but I figured that Dazai would probably end up mouthing on the tags too often for Chuuya’s liking.

Then there’s also the cursed option that Fishie’s actually one of those hyperrealistic toy fish and he looks like he’s carrying an actual salmon all the time. I don’t believe it- he has a little blue sardine and no one can change my mind, but it does make me laugh.

I think I’ve said this before but I feel so bad 😭 that people are expecting/hoping he gets another stuffie and I am being very mean 🫣😔 I decided a while ago that Fishie will be Dazai’s only plush, his lovey, his special guy if you will, mostly because I think that the angst of losing his plushie will hit harder in the future if it’s also the only plush he’s ever had (Stuffed Animal Angst is a slippery slope and I promise no stuffed animal will ever be destroyed beyond repair) does not mean Dazai can’t borrow Atushi’s or Ranpo’s plushie for an occasional snuggle in moments of weakness, but also the future angst of Dazai not wanting to get attached to another plushie again 😔 Dazai and Fishie will eventually reunite in the 22 era 🩷

Ok ok ok now that that’s out of the way, i agree that Fishie doesn’t (yet??) exist irl. I have looked at fish plushies for countless hours and i still haven’t found something that fits the vague Fishie shaped blob in my brain 😔 i have not looked at the jellycat website before, because it’s dangerous and i know ill spend money i know it 😭 but i will be brave and venture on there to look at the sea animals (bruh I’ve seen an oyster on tumblr 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I’m gonna go broke on jellycat webbed site)

Fishie is definitely cartoony, not realistic. I really enjoy jellycats simple yet thought designs, and Fishie would definitely be in those vibes. I hope you liked the chapter 🩷🩷

kunikida and aya being the same aspect, and aya ending up a class that's considered "the same but stronger and more chaotic" than kunikida's

mori being a life player :) he's a doctor after all :)))) (tbh his personality fits a thief way more, but thieves are selfish while rogues work for the benefit of others. and i think that's a core thing about him. so!)

i had the doa trio's classpects locked and loaded in my brain for months now. i actually only made this list so i have an excuse to talk about them. i will not budge on these choices
