ik we always talk abt how ratio and aventurine are opposites when it comes to aeons (one wants to be seen and isn't, other is seen and hates it) but. it's also interesting to observe how they're opposites with people too. i think

ratio is a somewhat controversial public figure? but mostly well liked. he has some haters sure but his fans and appreciators are louder and more common. he grew up surrounded by people oohing and aahing over his achievements, always a part of a group

and yet. does he have any actual friends? 🤔 literally the only other playable character who has any voice lines about him atm is aventurine. it kinda seems like his only other friends are screwllum and maybe the trailblazer. the other geniuses don't pay much mind to him. iirc in that one keeping up with star rail video where he was announced to be free they mentioned barely knowing him. it's literally just screwllum

meanwhile, aventurine seems to be kind of hated. tbf, he IS a relatively high ranking member in the ipc so that's plenty reason for the average person to dislike him. not to mention his luck is bound to get anyone he's betting against to wish upon his death lol. and idk if that's how he is with just tb or if he's like that with everyone but he also doesn't seem to want to leave a good impression anyway. he grew up alone, quite literally had to kill all the other slaves in order to survive, and ofc, he is the last of his kind. always forced to be separated from others like him.

but. people in his life are generally okay with him. going by numbers, there are currently 7 characters who have voice lines about him. most of them are positive or at least show some form of care or familiarity. he has bonds whether he knows about them or not. people caring about him is why and how he got out of the nihility

and. this is one i'm p sure i have seen brought up before but i think it's important to mention. it doesn't seem like aventurine likes humanity as a whole that much (and can we really blame him for that after what he's been through 😭). but ratio loves humanity to the point of it being a defining characteristic of his, to the point of missing out on what was likely his dream before.

it's an interesting contrast. and it can even add a few layers to the bond between them, too. what it means for them to have it in the first place. how it affects each one of them, and the both of them together as a unit.

Ever since Camp Cretaceous ended, I've been slowly writing post-canon/AU (now that we have Chaos Theory) fanfics for Benmina and sometimes other ships, which requires me to breakup Yasammy and sometimes Kenlynn. Which hurts because I've actually grown to like them, but I love Benmina more.

I imagined these characters are going to be mourning the end of their years-long relationships, possibly even hoping to reconcile with their exes initially. At minimum, there would probably be 3-6 months before they're ready to move on, and sometimes feelings are messy, but even if their new romantic interest falls in love early on, I don't think any of the N6 would ever talk bad about or risk their friendships with either half of any former couple-

Open to the idea of dating his brother's ex-girlfriend less than a month after the 5-6 year relationship ended and judging him while not knowing the whole story.

Darius, I can't believe this needs to be said, but please, do not pursue your brother's ex-girlfriend.

...or if you absolutely must, maybe wait a few months? At least? Please?

And most of all, maybe talk to him about it rather than making assumptions?

I say this a lot but I genuinely think Endive Chowder is 1 of those characters im going to be extremely attracted to for awhile. She is one of the characters I opened up having lesbian attraction for her in public as well as online and irl in awhile she genuinely helped me express myself

Most Asian communities are quite conservative but I don’t even mind if people irl find my attraction to her or women in general to be weird. I see most girls I know are attracted to anime boys/male idols, that’s fine but more people treat it as normal. I’m fine being judged for being attracted to Endive and women, you cannot change this no matter how weird you think it is.

I find it sad I kept her in secret for awhile so long even tho I was slowly buying stuff of her last year, but im glad im open for it now

atsushi being sassy/salty, imo, is just a little comical way in which his... not quite essence, but inner feelings? express themelves. and i don't think that contradicts him being soft - in fact, i think these qualities enhance each other

atsushi being sweet despite having the ability to be cold, even murderous (i think beast shows it well, the fact he DOES have this instinct inside him - not just by showing how easily he became a killer, but also that bit about the beginning, how beast!akutagawa's solution to starving was eating weeds, while canon!atsushi went straight to thinking how he's gonna have to become a thief), is just proof that he's making that choice consciously

even when he's like, complaining to the audience, kinda, about his money when he takes kyouka on their "date", the fact is he still took her on it, he still made a choice to spend it on her to make sure she has a good day. he can be salty, but despite it he chooses to be kind

even with akutagawa. he's always like ready to attack him on sight, but he DID let him lean on his shoulder in that boat, he did protect his head while breaking through that window, he did show kindness to someone who is supposed to be his enemy

atsushi comes from a harsh background, his instincts lean more towards rudeness and selfishness at best and violence at worst, and despite that he chooses to be kind, to help, to be gentle when needed.

this is another way in which he embodies one of bsd's core messages, i think. while other characters lean more towards "you can always start again, you can always be good now even if you weren't before" (dazai, kyouka, akutagawa, odasaku just off the top of my head), atsushi is a slightly different version of this sentiment - "your past doesn't define you, your actions do".

and the beautiful thing is he still struggles with it. he's still quite violent at times, he has an entire breakdown about it in dead apple, he doesn't kill but he does maim. and yet he keeps going, he keeps making that choice every day, because he knows that's what he needs to do in order to live.

Me in 2020: Started low-key shipping Benmina because I loved both characters and liked their interactions, despite indications they wouldn't be a thing. And it all started with this scene:

And I'm always going to ship them, they're my Jurassic OTP, but I've also grown to love the canon relationships and other fanon ships (though nowhere near as much as Benmina).

Your grandad seems like an awesome fella and I am so glad there are people like him in the world! My grandad, an 88 year old Aboriginal fella, he's the same.

He lived through the Stolen Generation. His mum died when he was 6 so his sister had to raise him. He never went to university or any grade past year 8 or 9. He was in Fuck Knows Where, Australia all his life and that's where nobody was judged for the colour of their skin, black kids, white kids, they all played together, didn't matter what the hell you were, if you showed up on my grandad's doorstep, he'd take you in and make sure there's a bed ready and tea cooked for you. For his race, he was beaten a few times when he was out of town. But that didn't stop him being kind. He is the most amazing man I've ever met, full of stories and knowledge and wisdom.

Couple of my uncles (I call them uncles but I'm not actually too sure how they're related to me) were openly gay, and he, living in Fuck Knows Where, Australia, had not really heard about gay people, so it took a bit of explaining to do. But even after that, he still loved Max and Nosha the same! When my dad was sick in hospital, when he was three, Max and Nosha, the two gay cousins, were the ones that stopped by the most. My grandad didn't say they were indoctrinating him, he didn't say they were infecting him with their homosexuality, he was glad that someone visited him in Melbourne, and that he had family by his side. Now, Nosha's gone, AIDS, '94. My grandad went to his funeral and it didn't matter whatsoever how he passed, all that mattered was a life was taken so many years too soon.

Now, here, 2024, my grandad is the best fella I ever knew, now, I named myself Dan after one of the other uncles, he passed away when he was 33. Now, he calls me Dan, he calls me young fella, he calls me champ, he sees me as his grandson, and I couldn't be more grateful. To have a man as fantastic as him in my life is such a privilege. Love ya, old fella!

I have my 2 cents worth to share about The Newsreader. Make yourself comfortable because this, this is going to be a long one.

So, everybody's still rooting for Helen and Dale BUT what if I told you I don't think they're happy or even a genuine couple anymore??? Well, I think it all started back in series 1 when the media took a hold of their relationship. Because their relationship became everybody else's, it became less of their own. They had wonderful potential but I just think it burnt out.

Then there's the whole thing with Tim and Gerry, people wanted them to be with Dale, but I just don't think this new Dale is really the right kind to be with Tim or Gerry. He's suddenly really ruthless and bitchy, he threw Gerry under the bloody bus for one! I think this is going to affect series 3 a lot, because he's suddenly News At Six's bitch, he's feeding into everything this borderline parasitic company wants, but I'm not sure this act is going to last for very long, I think he's going to get treated like crap by Lindsay and he's going to turn back into the same old Dale who's going to stand back up for himself instead of getting abused once again by News At Six! Or at least, I sure hope he does because he deserves better.

I'm still not certain what's going to happen in series 3 (Duh, I'm not a fortune teller) but I definitely think it could go in some different directions. Number 1, Dale's going to drop this whole 'I'm-News-At-Six's-bitch' act and go join a different news company who'll treat him better, maybe resolve things with Gerry, then become his own man, not confined by conformity. Number 2, he keeps the act, stays News At Six's crusty lapdog while Helen will probably at some stage tell him 'HEY BRO IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU DROPPED THE ACT AND SEE YOU'RE BEING ABUSED', he probably won't care. Or number 3, he completely loses it and gets fired anyway, only to go to Gerry or Tim and get told to fuck right off. Karma's a bitch.
