Sigh, fine I’ll guess I’ll spare some pennies. Thank you for the ask! This is kinda scatter brained and kinda focused on Rodolphus to like parallel/paint how the brothers are together with they are separate and yeah I dunno I threw up

So usually I internalize whatever @florsial (formal apology to you pookie, Im about to act out of line 🫶) says about Rabastan because we tend to agree on things surrounding him but I think we definitely view Rodolphus differently. Which is fine, he barely exists as a character and I think it’s just representative of how we fundamentally view sibling relationships differently. Like I don’t know what it is with me, but I feel the need ti make every sibling relationship I write for either fanfiction or my own work complicated as hell.

So Rodolphus Lestrange. I think he’s a lot like Orion Black. Like he probably even looked up to him kind of when he grew up, (which is kinda funny because Rodolphus probably isn’t much younger than him if at all considering my headcanon that both walburga and Orion were young when they had both their children to kind of get it out of the way) and you can see that in like a lot of how he just is. Hes ‘stoic’ but actually just doesn’t feel a lot of emotions and doesn’t pretend he does, he’s probably like a hair away from being an alcoholic but he doesn’t drink because he knows that (unlike Orion who is very much an alcoholic), hes antisocial and physically annoyed around people because he doesn’t understand why they are as ‘efficient’ as he is and looks down on all of them.

He’s very work oriented, so much so that he doesn’t really have a life outside of it at all. He’s always been the twin the family knew to count on and he always liked having the title so he never had a rebellious stage or any real anger towards his expectations beyond being tired at the end of a particularly grueling work day. I think the only work hes expected to do that he actively doesn’t work towards doing is producing heirs. He doesn’t like kids, he thinks they’re loud and messy and they get in the way of a schedule. It’s like the only thing him and Bellatrix agree on since she also wants nothing to do with kids. (Also quick note on their marriage, I think they pretty much ignore each other and that’s their idea of what they’ll be like forever. When in public together they put on the ‘better than you’ couple mask but in every other scenario they live completely separate lives and actively avoid each other or they’ll find something to fight about.) like the general vibe I could sum him up with is, yes he’s Rabastan’s twin, but everyone who’s ever talked with him assumes he’s like a decade older and just aged well.

So to contrast that with Rabastan, who was never really expected to be anything and never proved anyone wrong, he’s the sort of kid his mother defends no matter what but he father actively tries to forget about. The exact sort Rodolphus looks down on. He can’t help it’s his brother, he’s still below him. And that would be easier to accept if Rabastan stopped proving it over and over. He had to act out in school, he had to move where mother couldn’t find at seventeen, he had to preach to the family that they were ‘immoral’ or whatever, and then he had to preach it to a child, and then he had to marry the child. Like, Rodolphus isn’t a good man by many means, but his lack of feeling or empathy towards people gives him a more head on view of them. And his head on view of his brother is that he’s useless, dramatic, and so desperate to be anything he’ll lie to a little girl to get her to view him that way. And not to say Rodolphus is any better since he witnessed first hand what his brother was doing, he literally walked in on the two hiding away to make out in a corner when regulus was still fifteen and his brother was the same age as himself and just turned back around and never mentioned it to anyone. A truly good person probably would’ve done something. Good thing that’s not what he’s trying to be.

(Also unrelated but I wanna circle back to a point @florsial has that I love about how Rabastan and Regulus are a couple who tries to nuclear and domestic but fails, I feel like that’s a joke on its own especially in this context. The idea that Rodolphus is the nuclear working man so Rabastan must parallel him by being a family man, he just isn’t. Yes he’s closer with his wife than his brother is, and yes that could be something he has over Rodolphus but pretty much no one in their family is proud of Rabastan for his teenage wife and it’s not like their perfect or anything.)

Rodolphus has probably told Rabastan he thinks this only once since he’s usually content to be quiet about it. He probably broke and yelled about how Rabastan will never be anything ro even get his shit together and it won’t matter because no one has hope he will and it hurts because Rodolphus was never given that leeway and it must be fucking nice to have. Rabastan probably doubles back with how much it must be nice for anyone to give a shit about you, to not only exoect things from you but love you even more when you deliver. They probably kept fighting until Rodolphus, as always, gets tired and shuts it down and goes home.

Because even a man who feels nothing has breaking points, especially when Rabastan keeps fucking pushing for one. And that was their relationship a lot of their life, I think. Rabastan desperately wanting to be seen and Rodolphus who is willingly blind. When they were younger that was ok, little kids before hogwarts just played together until father came to take Rodolphus away, growing boys at hogwarts who slowly drift apart when one doubles down on academics and the other found there’s more to do (and not for lack of desperate trying on the seconds behalf.) and then they’re grown up and neither can place what really happened. They’re sure they used to love each other, at least they think so. And they don’t know what happened, because something must have happened. Right?

Yeah I dunno it’s hard to continuously explain but I think what’s tragic about them is that it’s needless. Rabastan could try ti be better and it would not only help his relationships but himself, Rodolphus could try ti be more and he same would happen to him. If either brother were better at being human then they would be better at loving each other. But they’re not, so they can’t.

OMGGG!! Thank you so much for the ask. I really love your character and I’m glad you’re interested in my opinions on her. So, let’s see…

1. There are a good bunch of songs that remind me of Kore. In fact, I was working on a playlist for her, and some songs I included are Class of 2013 by Mitski (her, Ethan’s and Alabaster’s song I think), Astronomy by Conan Gray, Family Line by Conan Gray, Army Dreamers by Kate Bush, Two birds by Regina Spektor, Goodbye my danish sweetheart by Mitski, Second child, restless child by the Oh Hellos. There might be more, but I can’t remember them at the moment.

2. Kore’s and Ethan’s friendship is my Roman Empire you don’t even know. They understand each other in a very special way, they have a certain complicity and closeness established by their similar (and deeply unfortunate) fates. They both bear the knowledge of their final martyrdom, but manage to find a bit of solace in each other, knowing that they’ll end up in similar ways. Kore tries to act as a beacon to Ethan, to advise him and pull him from some of his distorted views, sometimes not realizing that she’s on a similar track as him… Ethan sympathizes with her, attemps to help her however he can, sometimes feeling guilty for burdening her with his own struggles. To sum it up, yes, they’re both sad, angry and tragic, and they bond over this. (Oh, I also like the detail of their shared Japanese heritage. A lot of cute things that could spring from that)

3. Hmmm…A lot of headcanons I’ve already highlighted in my art. But I have to mention that she’s clearly a big animal lover and has helped Chris and Alabaster sneak some pets onto the ship before… yes, it’s a long story. I have an unposted fic about it…

I also have a feeling that her eyes would be particularly eerie, beautiful, but strange at the same time. I imagine her irises being a bit larger than a mortal’s, with pupils that fade into the rest of her eye. And her eyes are a striking, icy blue, contrasting with the warmth of her body.

Also! She stima by braiding and unbraiding her hair. Just a little thought :>

4. I’ll have to restrain myself from speculating on this. I feel like it would be a very big part of her arc to gain the courage to love somebody after the tragedy of Callum, and only you, her creator, are in measure to decide who.

5. Word would pass very quickly around camp. There would be a certain distain against her, as “traitors” are not quite aprecciated among the campers. But there would also be sympathy, and interest. Who is this girl? Who made her join the Army? Did Luke manipulate her, too? And why is she one of the extremely few demigods with prophetic abilities? She’d be quickly tracked back to the Apollo cabin, as they’re the only ones known to have a slight foreseeing of the future. And some people might try to gain information about her from the other children of Apollo, but obviously with no success.

6. I’m sure that she’s compassionate of Hal Green and his fate, admirative of his sacrifice and extremely close to her brother despite never meeting him. But there’s also a sense of uncertainty surrounding Halcyon… Could have he done anything differently, to prevent the death of so many children? No, no is the most realistic answer, but there’s still something about the wicked game of fate that defined his life that unsettles Kore. In any way, Halcyon deserved better, so much better, and knowing his story might have been one of the aspects that started Kore’s fury at the god’s unfairness.

7. Well… it depends what moment they would have met her. Most likely a mix of empathy for her situation and lack of trust due to her history with Kronos. How could she go against her own siblings?

I do have some thoughts on Caranthir, though, fair warning, they’re not especially complimentary. They’re pretty headcanon-heavy, since we only get tidbits on him.

Character Thoughts - Caranthir

From what we see of Caranthir, the thing that stands out to me most is his disdainful behaviour towards anyone who isn’t (entirely) Noldor. It comes out in practically every instance we see of him in The Silmarillion. I wouldn’t guess that this is unique to Caranthir among the Fëanoreans (we get similar cultural chauvinism from Fëanor in his “in huts on the beaches you would be dwelling still” line to Olwë, and all the sons of Fëanor are described as “haughty and fell”), but he seems to have a more than usual lack of tact about it; he’s described as “the harshest and most quick to anger” among the sons of Fëanor

First there’s his words to Angrod (“Let not the sons of Finarfin run hither and thither with their tales to this Dark Elf in his caves!…let them not so swiftly forget that their father is a lord of the Noldor, though their mother be of other kin”….wow, on top of everything else, way to remind them that you murdered their mother’s people). It’s telling that this is in no way a small incident - it’s the moment that prompts Maedhros moving the Fëanoreans to East Beleriand, and the memory and resentment of it is what prompts Angrod to spill the beans to Thingol about the Kinslaying. Caranthir can do a lot of damage with a few words!

His lack of tact towards the dwarves doesn’t have similar impact - because of pragmatism on both sides and also, I expect, because, though the dwarves are proud, they aren’t especially vain, and being insulted for their looks bothers them a lot less than many other things would.

His interactions with Haleth and the Haladin are interesting. At first his people “pay little heed to them,” which is a marked contrast not only to Finrod’s instant befriending of the Edain, but to Fingolfin’s rapid endeavours to build relations and an alliance. After he rescues the Haladin from the Orcs he “sees, over late, what valour there was in the Edain”, and invites them to live further north in his land. The Haladin are currently in the southern woods of Thargelion. Now, this can be taken either of two ways. Option one, he’s inviting them to live closer to the main settlement of his people, near Lake Helevorn, for more effective mutual defence. Option two, he’s inviting them to live closer to the front lines because he’s seen that they’re good warriors and he wants them between Angband and the bulk of his people. I tend to lean towards the latter; Haleth’s choices certainly indicate she mistrusts him.

And if we do go with the latter, it creates some very interesting headcanons for me in the latter part of the story, where we see less of Caranthir individually. If Caranthir is (“over late”) seeing the military value of the Edain and trying to recruit them, and he failed, then he could be expected to particularly resent that the Haladin end up settling next to Thingol (who doesn’t even like them!) and agreeing to protect his borders, and resent Finrod for negotiating it. This would give him a reason to largely have fellow-feeling with Celegorm and Curufin after the events of Leithian, and accept whatever account they gave of their dealings with Nargothrond and Doriath and their grievances.

Even more, this also adds extra, painful irony to the Nirnaeth, when Caranthir again attempts to make an alliance with Men and it goes terribly wrong. It does stand out that the men who ally with Caranthir turn traitor while those who ally with Maedhros stay loyal - Caranthir has a record of alienating people whether he’s trying to or not, he lacks tact, and it’s not hard to see him saying some things that suggest that the Easterlings are being recruited as cannon fodder. It is, at any rate, my headcanon that Caranthir’s personality has a not-inconsiderable role in why it is the Easterlings aligned with him who change sides. And I like the way it bookends the first real appearance of Caranthir as an individual character, when his words throw a rock into both intra-Noldor and Noldor-Sindar relations.

The combination of bitterness in general around Uldor’s betrayal, bitterness about Doriath due to the aforementioned, and combined bitterness about Doriathrin non-participation in the Nirnaeth, all in addition to the matter of the Silmaril, would give him plenty of reason to be favourable towards the Second Kinslaying.

I read so many posts that basically say GABRIEL IS AN EVIL SHIT MAKE HIM SUFFER HEARTLESS BASTARD

When the truth is, the entire plot of the show is he’s turned evil in order to save the woman he loves.  Gabriel can be devoted, kind, tender, affectionate, protective, and passionate.

Look at his adoration of Emilie.

MLB Season 5 heavily hinted at another relationship with these images (text my own, because you can tell what movie they’re using as their “inspiration”):

In another post I pointed out that canon might reveal that Nathalie was in love with Emilie, but lost her to Gabriel.

But the first image also hints that it may be that Nathalie and Gabriel were already a couple, or at least very close as treasure hunters, but Nathalie lost him to Emilie. (Yes, I hear you GabNath Shippers yelling “WE KNEW IT!!”  No, we don’t.  Yet.)

But having or having not been in an intimate relationship with Nathalie, look at how he is with her.  I’ve intentionally left out the text so you can focus on the body language.

The concern and gentle touch.

His pained, affectionate expressions.

His reaction to her hand, I mean, this right here just kills me.

I certainly see why people Ship them.  But even if they never were a couple, the fact that Gabriel is so tender, protective, and affectionate to her shows he isn’t the heartless, cold asshole many claim he is.

As for his relationship with Adrien, I love that the writers don’t try to sugar-coat it.  Some people are just not meant to be parents.  It’s difficult to tell from the family portraits what Gabriel felt about being a father.  Because the point of family portraits is to display how happy they are.

I assume the one on the right is their mourning portrait.

Their interaction as father and son can be summed up with this:

But just because Gabriel doesn’t love his son in the way we think he should doesn’t mean he’s incapable of love.

And that’s why my own headcanon is The Cocoon Splits.  I know he can fall in love, and, in my fanfic’s case, very deeply in love.

Weird RWBY Headcanons that make no sense pt.2

Note: Still in my happy little land of “Nothing Bad Ever Happened” because I am in denial during hiatuses. This one is kind of long, my bad.

Jaune played softball (yes, softball. no, not baseball.). He was really good at it too. His mom still has pictures of him from every year he was on the team. They’re all on the fridge at his family’s home.

Jaune’s sisters got him into Taylor Swift at a young age, and he still listens to her as a guilty pleasure.

Ruby’s a skater kid. She got rusty when she went to Beacon due to getting swamped down by work, but she used to be “One of the best,” according to Yang at least. She used to scare the hell out of Qrow and Tai, because she would come home covered in scrapes and bruises, but what could they do? Say no to her? To Ruby? Yeah, that wasn’t happening.

Weiss will say some of the most out of pocket stuff without thinking about it and then immediately regret it. The thing is that the severity of the comments are inconsistent.

So sometimes she’ll say the most spoiled rich kid stuff, like, “Why can’t they just buy a new one?” before getting a side eye look from Blake and correcting herself and pointing out how the comment was insensitive.

Other times it’ll just be stuff where you question where it came from, like, there’s dead silence then Weiss just says, “If you think about it, Dante’s Inferno is just Bible fanfic.” And then nobody knows what to do with that, so they just stay silent, which ultimately leads to Weiss quietly apologizing and everyone telling her she doesn’t need to.

Or, she’ll say stuff like, “Yeah, I think my dad hit me once,” then get the saddest looks from Yang, Blake, and Ruby, and follow it up with, “Oh, I said something sad again, didn’t I?” and getting slow, concerned nods in return.

There are a lot of mumbled apologies from Weiss because of this, which means there’s also a lot of Ruby, Blake, and Yang panicking and telling her it’s not necessary.

Similarly, Nora will occasionally just drop the wisest or deepest things anyone’s every heard, just out of nowhere. Like, someone will be talking about life and then Nora will just chime in with, “Yeah, that’s the crazy thing about life. It’s very big and you’re very small, and ultimately when you die the world will continue on without you, but also in a sense, it won’t. There’s a strange beauty to it. A weird mixture of grief and survival,” and everybody will just sit slack-jawed and questioning their perception of her until right after she goes, “Can I just call potatoes pre-fries?”

There’s a running joke about Ren being the best wife/husband (they’re used interchangeably). He’ll make flower crowns, cook breakfast, do household chores, etc. This ends up confusing the hell out of the rest of the school for a moment because RWBY, JNP_, Sun, and Neptune are all calling Ren their husband/wife, and nobody can figure out who’s actually dating Ren.

Adding onto that, it is a known fact around the school that, at this point, nobody asks who’s dating who when it comes to RWBY, JNPR, Sun, and Neptune, they’re all just weirdly close and everyone just accepts it.

One time, Yang made a joke about starting a band with Jaune and Sun and calling it The Blondies 3.0. Then, Jaune asked why 3.0 instead of 2.0, which Sun responded to with “So we can kick one out and then rebrand.” Soon there was a whole plot line on what albums they would make, how the break up would go, who would get kicked out, there was even a plan for a failed comeback. The only that stopped them was Blake and Pyrrha.

Ilia’s an astronomy nerd. I know we know, like, nothing about her parents, but I like to think that’s where it came from. Like, they used to teach her about the stars and the universe, and after they died Ilia just kind of held onto to it, because it was all she had left of her parents. She’s not super into astrology, though she does know the constellations and their stories. (Blake is kind of the astrology to Ilia’s astronomy)

Kids and stray animals love Ilia, and she has no idea why. Like, kids will just kind of follow her around and hug her ankles and ask her to tell them stories about the constellations or the White Fang, and she will. And stray animals will come up and give puppy eyes, then suddenly she’s buying dog treats. The kids and the animals know why they love her, but she’s got no clue.

I like to think Ilia is very similar to Qrow in a couple of aspects, specifically love language type stuff. Like, when you do something stupid, she will call you an idiot for it and she will never let you live it down, but she’ll also check to make sure you’re ok and not physically injured in some way. She’s also a nickname collector, and has one for everybody (except for Penny and a few other because they very seriously requested that she stop, which she respects).

Multiple guys have tried to trip up Pyrrha when it comes to her mythology knowledge, since a lot of her actions allude to Achilles. They fail miserably every time due to the fact that Pyrrha just genuinely does enjoy fairytales and mythology. Occasionally, RWBY, JNR, Sun, or Neptune will just ask her about it just so she can talk about it because it makes her happy.

A lot of people in the White Fang had little to no education when it came to Grimm, so there are nicknames for different Grimm. (Ex. Beowolves = Hellhounds, Boarbatusk = Demon Hogs, Lancers = Steroid Wasps, Death Stalkers = Big Boy/Ole Crawlers, etc.)

Vacuo is pretty similar due to their isolation. So, Ilia, Blake, and Sun will talk about Grimm using nicknames, and nobody will know what their talking about.

Listen this dude’s TOTALLY directionless in life so he practically latched himself onto you the moment you were friendly to him.

He’s definitely a puppy dog boy, but less like the standard golden retriever archetype and more like a german shepherd.

String Gummy is loyal and protective to the end.

He really likes holding you. Like a lot. And everywhere. Do not expect to let go of his hand when you’re out in public.

He will most certainly threaten anyone who even looks at you funny.

He really likes it when you let him rest his head on your lap after a busy day at the TBD.

He’s retired from time-jumping but he still works with Croissant and is basically her advisor since he’s seen so many versions of the world throughout his employment.

Please play with his hair. He may be too dignified to ask you, but inside he is constantly on his knees begging you to pet him.

He’ll start saying whatever comes to mind when you’re giving him that attention.

Give this man shoulder massages too he is literally so stressed all the time.

He’s a very restless sleeper, often tossing and turning in the night, and sometimes even mumbling out some incoherent sentence fragment.

You often wake up shivering because he somehow burrito wraps himself in the blankets nearly every night

He has a lot of scars and he’s a bit self-conscious of them. He finds it endearing when you trace your fingertips over them. He finds it even moreso if you kiss them. Wait is he crying?

Tell him you love him and say it frequently. Even over the most menial things.

He tried to cook (and set the kitchen on fire)? Say you love him. He got groceries while you were at work? Say you love him. He shows you some blueprints he’s been working on? Say you love him. He laughs? Say you love him. He gets out of bed before noon? Say you love him.

Why? Because those things I just listed are how he says it to you. Telling you directly that he loves you is hard, but doing those things for you and involving you in his life is his way of saying he loves you too.

Millennial Tree

He doesn’t leave his temple all too much, so you often find yourself leaving your little village for the day and trekking through the jungle to see him.

Millennial Tree usually meets you at the halfway point, then leads you back to his home hand-in-hand.

It would be odd for the residents of your village, or anybody for that matter, to see a normal cookie traipsing around with a literal god, so the two of you keep your relationship on the hush-hush.

He loves having tea with you and hearing about your day-to-day life. He finds even the most mundane functions of your routine interesting.

He also likes hearing about the latest gossip around the village. He finds it rather amusing what situations and troubles non-deity cookies find themselves in.

He presents you with gifts of nature nearly every visit, and it’s always something new, be it a flower, a potted plant, or even a pretty beetle in a jar.

On special occasions, they’re handmade gifts. He’s given you silky robes much like his, a circlet of bark and vine, and a necklace of amber, to name a few.

The two of you fall into long, comfortable silences with each other, just enjoying the presence of each other.

If he’s feeling mischievous, as a bored god might be once in a while, he’ll catch you off guard with a chaste little kiss.

The way your face reddens from your cheeks to your neck makes him giggle.

He likes to take you to his special spots in the forest. Your favorite is the thick branch of a tree at the edge of the forest that looks out onto a valley dotted with flowers.

He absolutely ADORES it when you sing to him. Millennial Tree has heard thousands of songs from many different groups of cookies, and he’s always looking for more.

He’ll sing ancient songs to you as well. Most of the time, they’re in languages long gone, but they sound pretty nonetheless.

BRAID HIS HAIR.

He lets you weave plants and flowers through his hair and over his antlers. He then does the same to you.

When it’s time for you to go, he always asks you to stay.

You rarely can, as you have duties back home, and you regretfully tell him this every time.

He sighs and lets you leave with a kiss to your forehead and a soft farewell.

“Until next time, my love.”

Especially because they already had a memorial for John B and everything, I wonder if there will be any part of the Pogues holding out hope that they both could still be out there OUCH.

I’m going to circle back to this, but it looks like John B and Sarah are going to get separated for a little while in this man hunt, I could see my idiot himbo son trying to sacrifice himself so Sarah can get away but in reality just....stranding her.

This shot just suddenly made me really sad. The thought of this all started because Big John left one last thing for his son to find, his literal life’s work. And when it all started, it was just a fun adventure John B and his best friends were going on together and having fun with. Then it all got dragged to absolute shit and turned into what it did, including the remaining 3 Pogues thinking that this treasure hunt took their two best friends away from them. And it’s nothing like Big John intended it to be.

Now we’re edging into what I was talking about earlier with John B and Sarah getting separated.

I believe this one of the new character, played by Jontavious Johnson (Stubbs). Based on the voice over it lowkey sounds like they’re implying Ward maybe hired Stubbs and Cleo to find and bring Sarah back. My theory would be I bet they do go to retrieve her, but she somehow convinces them that it would be more beneficial for them in the end to be on the Pogue’s side instead.

Alright, so now it looks like we’re in Charleston. This is the same scene with Heyward’s truck that got leaked from BTS (read: JJ and Kie shoulder touch).

One of the main things that stuck out to me in the following scenes which, you will see, is it lowkey looks like Pope is kind of heading up this part of the operation, or even going in alone? The following clips are just very Pope focused. 

I don’t know what it means, it’s just an observation.

For months sicne that tiktok leaked this damn scene has been genuinely all I could think about. So (obviously) it seems like they’re sending Kie down into the sewer to go do seomthing and things go horribly, horribly wrong. 

If you haven’t seen the tiktok, essentially all it was was JJ and Pope screaming and trying to lift up the man hole cover while Kie is begging for them to hurry from inside. I’m cheating a little bit as this isn’t a shot from the trailer but this picture was posted and it’s from the same scene.

And, oh my GOD a scene of him falling off the boat after it happens and Kiara diving in after him immediately, having to desperatly try to stop him from sinkingand get to the life raft holy shit-

Okay, so scene wise, JJ’s hit his head somehow (probably while he was jumping with Kiara) it looks like and now they’re back on the raft. 

In my opinion, this is either:

A) JJ is in really, really bad condition after getting hurt in the jump and they’re not sure he’s going to make it. So this is a “Please stay with me, stay awake, please don’t die” hug OR

B) They very narrowly just avoided a deadly situation (my first thought is JJ hits his head while jumping, passes out in the water, maybe almost drowns but Kie and the others get him onto the life raft in time) and this is more of a “Oh my God, you’re okay, you’re safe now, we’re okay” hug. 

I honestly lean more to the second one based on the little bit of Sarah’s face we saw in the background. To me, it almost looked like she was smiling thru tears, which, fits way more with the second option than the first. 

Anyways. Moving on before I burst a lung again.

✨Why I Think Bella Swan Is On The Autism Spectrum ✨

In this post I’m going to talk about why I personally believe that Bella Swan is autistic. As an autistic person myself, I really relate to Bella and I see a lot of autistic traits in her.

Disclaimer: This is just a headcanon- I don’t think Stephenie Meyer intentionally wrote Bella as autistic, and she or the movie producers never confirmed it, so I’m not saying to everyone that she is CONFIRMED to be autistic and that every one has to see her that way, I’m just saying that I personally think she is, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Autistic people hardly have any representation in the media, and with the representation that we do have, it is almost always stereotypical, inaccurate and offensive. You do not have to agree with me on this, but just please be respectful in the comments and don’t hate :)

Ok let’s go:

1. She always felt different from everyone/she felt like nobody truly understood her and that she never really understood anyone either: this is what basically all autistic people feel, myself included. Feeling like nobody understands the way your brain works and the way you see the world. (And this is true, because autistic people do see the world differently than non- autistic people and autistic peoples brains are wired differently from non- autistic brains). Bella mentions this multiple times in the books and movies, at one point in the first book in the car with Edward, she tells him that she thinks he can’t read her mind because they’re a probably a glitch in her brain and that it’s not like other people’s. There is also this quote from the 1st chapter of twilight which sums up how she feels: “ Facing my pallid reflection in the mirror, I was forced to admit that I was lying to myself. It wasn’t just physically that I’d never fit in. And if I couldn’t find a niche in a school with three thousand people, what were my chances here? I didn’t relate well to people my age. Maybe the truth was that I didn’t relate well to people, period. Even my mother, who I was closer to than anyone else on the planet, was never in harmony with me, never on exactly the same page. Sometimes I wondered if I was seeing the same things through my eyes that the rest of the world was seeing through theirs. Maybe there was a glitch in my brain”.

2. Her motor skills: She’s constantly tripping over her own feet, has bad balance, doesn’t realize that she’s walking into things, constantly dropping things ect, a common thing for autistic people is to have poor motor skills and find it hard to navigate their body.

Another disclaimer about autism: not ever autistic person is the exact same, every autistic person expresses their autism in a slightly different way, for example, some autistic people are overly sensitive to sound, and some are under-sensitive to it, these are just the specific things I’ve noticed for Bella in this post, it’s not supposed to be a generalization of autism in any way! :)

3. Social disinterest and difficultly: all throughout her childhood and her time in forks, she wasn’t very interested in making friends or hanging out or going to parties, and she found that she could never make friends with someone easily, she just never fully clicked with someone. She did have some very nice friends in forks, however she never related to them too well or was very attached to them.

4. Dresses for comfort and not fashion: Bella typically dresses in what feels most comfortable for her, not what is the most fashionable thing, this is a common thing with autism. A lot of autistic people like myself are quite sensitive to clothing and fabric and will not tolerate uncomfortable clothing.

5. Limited interests/special interests: Bella doesn’t really have many interests, but the ones she does have, she’s very passionate about. A special interest is an autism-specific term used to describe interests and hobbies that autistic people have that are very important to them. They help regulate emotions, calm people down, provide escapism ect. Autistic people can hyper fixate on these interests for hours and hours and not get bored, they can get so engrossed that they forget to do basic tasks to take care of themselves like drinking or going to the bathroom. These interests can last for years, sometimes a lifetime and they are very important to autistics. Bella swans special interests would be reading, wuthering heights, and vampires. Bella says in midnight sun that she has loved reading all her life and it is one of the few things that bring her intense joy. She said she could read for hours at a time and would try to sneak books into her lessons and read any chance she could get. Bella says that her favorite book is wuthering heights and she has read it so many times that it is beaten up beyond repair and the spine is so cracked that the book lays flat. This would clearly be her special interest. Her other special interest is clearly vampires.

6. Burnouts and meltdowns when Edward leaves: when Edward left in new moon, Bella obviously fell into a huge depression, but I also think she fell into an autistic burnout (if you don’t know what that is pls research or ask me cause this post is already too goddamn long). And in eclipse, when Edward leaves to go home in the afternoon or to go hunting, she can barely focus without him and gets very anxious (this is obviously because she loves him and is literally obsessed with him lol, but I also think it could be a meltdown from separation anxiety and also a change in routine (a lot of autistics get very upset when their usual routine is disrupted or changed))

7. Sensitive to sounds: In the book, often Bella cannot concentrate or fall asleep because of little sounds like the rain, sometimes it takes ages for her to sleep because the rain or tapping is too distracting. (This is a common autistic struggle).

8. Stims & facial twitches & stuttering: in the movie, she is constantly stuttering over her words, and her face and body twitches a lot. She also stims a lot in the book by playing with her hair or sleeves or the zip of her jacket, or her hands or edwards hands. She also covers some of her face with her hair, this could be to do with sensory overload, seeing too much in her field of vision may be overwhelming for her, like a lot of autistics.

9. Trouble expressing feelings/ thoughts: bella struggles a lot sometimes with communication and telling people how she feels. You can see this in her relationship with Charlie. They both love eachother very much but they never say it and when they do it comes out very awkward and sometimes they use the wrong words. You can also see this when she is hesitant to tell Edward in eclipse when she doesn’t want him to leave for the fight, it takes her ages to work up to telling someone how she feels. She also tends to be quite private. This is common for some autistics to feel.

10. Sensory experiences: bella loves the sun and heat, she says that she loves feeling the sun seep into her skin- a lot of autistics feel the sensory world very strongly and love certain sensations and detest others. When Bella moves to forks, she hates the sudden change in weather and gets anxious and upset at the feel of the cold, and the rain against her skin. This links back to my other point where I was talking about how autistics fear sudden changes in routine. Bella is very relieved when there’s a sunny day in forks and goes and sits outside, savouring the weather which reminds her of home.

11. Not too concerned with how she looks: obviously not every autistic person is like this, but quite a few autistics don’t really focus on how they look/present and what they wear. They don’t really know about the social norms and what other people wear so they do what they want. This is something I often see in Bella in the books especially.

12. More quiet/ reserved and socially withdrawn and awkward: this is basically self explanatory. Bella is very well known for this. I touch a bit more on this in point 3.

There are more things that make me headcanon her as autistic, but these are just from the top of my head. When I re-read the series (for like the 100th time lol) later this year, I’ll annotate the book so that I can update this post in the future with more supporting this).

Ralsei could be very patience and sweet despite how Berdly acts. And if he and Noelle were more than friends, they got along really well and are pretty similar.

((So I agree Berdly has compatibility with the rest of the Fun Gang, but not really in a romantic sense.

He already seems to hold a bit of respect for Kris, thinking of them like a rival and getting together to play games with them. I’m still not entirely certain what to think of their history since we don’t have enough information outside of Berdly mocking them, playing games with them, and seems to have a particular need for their validation. I do kinda ship Krerdly, but I think there’s actually a good argument for aromantic Berdly that I’ll get into in a bit.

Berdly and Susie… I have so many thoughts about them. In relation to this ask, I gotta say, I don’t think Berdly’s crush on Susie is actually substantial. Realistically, we’re not getting a love triangle, and it’s very clear Noelle and Susie are getting together. Once Berdly recognizes she isn’t into him and Noelle is interested in her, he’s more than likely going to drop everything and become the best worst wingman. He said it himself that Noelle is his friend and he needs to support her.

To sum up my thoughts on Berdly’s ‘crush,’ here’s this meme.

For their friendship dynamic, I can totally see them becoming gaming rivals. Berdly’s love language seems to be getting together with friends and playing multiplayer games, so I can imagine Susie being added to that list. I can also see them calling each other names like before, but more teasingly instead of maliciously. They both have a history of mistreatment by their peers (and possibly their parents,) so they‘d be able to connect on that front and prolly start standing up for each other if harassed. Both are fearless and loyal to those they care about. One is just more physically aggressive while the other is verbally aggressive.

Ralsei is an interesting case. He seems open and friendly to absolutely everyone, but he appears to be more confused about Berdly’s existence than anything else. In the unused text strings during the boat ride, if you pick ‘thinking about Berdly,’ Ralsei awkwardly comments how the boat is bird-shaped and asks ‘what part of him are you thinking about?’ He doesn’t have any commentary about him as a person or his abilities in the Dark World. However, he mentions Noelle seems sweet and comments how she specializes in ice magic.

Now, that’s not to say I think Ralsei outright hates Berdly. He’s certainly weird and off-putting at first, but once he sees what Berdly does after the Queen fight, I believe Ralsei would start to see his better qualities. He goes through great lengths to aid his friends (gathering up all of the chapter 2 recruits in a severely weakened state,) even risking his life (Snowgrave, neutral route.) As I mentioned before, Berdly is loyal to a fault and he’s a very genuine person. I can see Ralsei warming up to him eventually. I’ve seen this as a romantic pairing, and though I think it can be cute, I personally don’t ship it.

Noelle is straight up a lesbian, and if she isn’t, she’s very much not interested in Berdly in that way, so there’s little to no chance for them becoming partners. Them as friends, however? They are fucking besties and you can’t convince me otherwise. She was his first and only friend for so long (again, not entirely certain what to think of his history with Kris,) they’re practically siblings at this point. Berdly went as far as to pretend to be romantically interested in her because he thought she was into him just so they can stay close. I’ve talked to my boyfriend about this, and he said ‘There‘s no way he wouldn’t develop genuine feelings during that time.’ Thinking about it, he’s right. That’s why I think there’s a good argument for aromantic Berdly.

I saw Jaiden Animation’s video about her experiences as an aroace person. When talking about being aromantic, she brings up a scenario that’s pretty much beat for beat the exact thing Berdly did with Noelle: pretend to reciprocate romantic feelings out of fear rejection will drift them apart. Of course, Berdly didn’t know Noelle really did just want to be friends and nothing more, but the focus was the mindset he displayed. After seeing that kinda scenario play out in the perspective of an aromantic person, I can definitely see Berdly as aromantic, despite what surface-level text may imply.

Sorry this got so long, but GOD, I LOVE thinking about Berdly’s possible future dynamics with the Fun Gang. Let this kid have more friends! He needs a proper support system beyond Noelle!))

So many thoughts and I don’t feel like I can word vomit them all properly...

So, first of all... Suga, wow. He’s just straight up an amazing kid. Just like with Asahi, I had never paid attention to Suga while watching the anime. Now that I’m reading the manga for the first time it is so much easier to understand all these little details about the many cast members in Haikyu!!

What I loved most about him is that for Suga to come out and say that he feels overwhelmed out on the court even though he helped Karasuno score and stop Aoba Josai’s momentum, all while looking incredibly confident in himself--it just goes to show how humble he is.

I also love that what Furudate was doing in this particular game was placing Suga and Oikawa side by side and comparing their personalities because...

Suga the mentor

Suga is the mentor that Kageyama needed to become the elite setter that he is meant to become. 

Just like Oikawa, Suga knows that he is mediocre compared to a player with natural talent like Kageyama. 

While Suga is humble, however, Oikawa is a tad narcissistic--and I love him all the more for it because, from my point of view, Oikawa’s ego is big because he’s insecure about his lack of natural talent and the sheer amount of effort he’s had to put in to “get to the top”. 

This is another reason why I love Iwa-chan and Oikawa’s dynamic. Iwa-chan is always there as Oikawa’s rock. He’s also someone who doesn’t compare himself to others. He’s a good volleyball player, but in the end, he’s no Bokuto and he’s no Ushikawa--in a sense, he’s like Oikawa: “mediocre” in the face of natural talent. 

But unlike Oikawa, Iwa-chan appears to me to be someone who understands his limitations and does not let it affect his sense of self.

Similarly, unlike Oikawa, Suga does not feel threatened by Kageyama’s skill. Quite the opposite, Suga acknowledges Kageyama, then he acknowledges himself and his own value as a player.

THEN, as if that was not amazing enough as it is, Suga teaches Kageyama the important lesson he needed: to remember that volleyball is a sport about connecting with a team.

Volleyball is “chemistry and synergy” in action.

Synergy: the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.

“The points we score while I’m out there, the points we score when you’re out there. They’re both points that Karasuno scores.”

Oikawa, on the other hand, sees Kageyama’s growth as a personal threat.

Kageyama’s nature/character

This is just speculation on my part but...

I have to wonder whether Furudate also meant to show Kageyama’s nature or character through this interaction. The way I see it, Kageyama was constantly shut down by Oikawa, whom he seemed to admire enough to want to learn from him. 

The thing about Kageyama is that he’s kind of a cranky, introverted weirdo. He’s  the kind of person who has a permanent angrybitchface going and so I am assuming people don’t easily approach him. As a result, I headcanon Kageyama mostly keeps to himself and might even feel misunderstood. 

After all, Kageyama has heavy Capricorn energy (his drive to succeed and improve himself) with a side of angrybitchface. 

And so for Kageyama, this game is personal. This is his opportunity to show the person he admired and who rejected him and opposed his growth as a setter for selfish (and very understandable) reasons, that he can win in a battle of setters.

But that’s just the point that Kageyama is missing... the very same point that Oikawa could not teach him, and that Suga has taught him--volleyball is not a battle of setters, but a game about connecting with others.

How you do one thing is how you do everything, so Kageyama’s initial inability to connect with others on a personal level shows in the court.

I headcanon that for Suwa to support and acknowledge Kageyama the way Oikawa never supported him must have really sent the message home for him.

Volleyball is about connecting.

Above all, going back to Suga, what I saw was that, unlike Oikawa, Suwa is humble enough to know that, while he is a solid setter, for Karasuno to win, he’s not the right setter to get the job done.

God I love Haikyu!!

I have to say that the more I read Haikyu! after having kept up with the anime since it came out in 2014, the more I love this story. Furudate is defo one of my favorite mangaka and I especially love knowing that they have not revealed their gender.

This carried on for while till you to the point where you were doubt his feelings towards you if there were any at all. elain x azriel: endgame

here’s why i think elain and azriel are endgame. i’ve been wanting to make this post for a while + what sarah said in her australian acosf tour livestream fits perfectly with what i had in mind so here we go. i think the title already says enough, and of course i’ll be using the proper pro and anti tags, but just in case i’m still warning you: this will be a pro elriel post. let’s start:

“(...) i was not done with this world and these characters and there was still so many stories i wanted to tell both about the characters themselves but also this concept of how do you rebuild a world that’s just been torn apart by war (...)” so these characters are nesta, cassian (obviously) elain, lucien, mor, azriel, vassa (jurian? eris? amren?) 

then she said that nothing about the overarching plot really changed, not even with the new characters (so gwyn, emerie, the new characters that will appear in acotar5 etc) because “(...) more characters have emerged (…) so i wouldn’t say things have changed as much as they just expanded (...) i have loved that my drunken lunch story has been remembered, my drunken meal with my editor, i think i’ve pitched the several next books to her and most of it remains the same (...) the next few books in the series i know this is gonna happen and these are the characters that are gonna be in it and it’s pretty much the same from my drunken ramblings a few years ago” 

so, to sum up, what she said confirms that: 

the next books are going to be about the og secondary/now future mains characters previously mentioned

the “new characters” are just secondary characters in each book, meant to only “expand the world”

the decisions of who the books were going to be about (and remember that it was going to be one book x one couple) was made before any of those new characters even existed

now, we all know that elain’s book is next, so let’s focus on that (elain, azriel, lucien). i won’t bore you with all the textual evidence and/or all the times that sarah herself talked about/said that elain was getting her own book and/or her book was next after nesta’s because, at this point -especially after the further confirmation in that interview that nothing has changed- it has become so painfully obvious that, if you don’t see that, you’re being intentionally obtuse. 

“i know what’s going to happen like five books down the road (...) and i wanna lay the groundwork for that” which basically means that she’s been dropping hints for a while. let’s see: (just a few examples because, if i had to include everything, this post would be way too long)

(feyre is talking about elain and azriel) “why not make them mates?” (...) “what decides it? who decides it?”

it made sense, i supposed, that azriel alone had listened to her. the male who heard things other could not.

“the mating bond. it is a bridge between souls.” ⇢ (...) light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two, the only bridge of connection ... that knife.”

“don’t” elain said flatly, starting once more into a walk, veils of steam drifting past her shoulders from the roasted rosemary potatoes in her hands, as if they were azriel’s shadows.

but what about lucien? he’s still elain’s mate after all. is he though? 

(feyre is talking about elain and azriel) “what if (...) this is what she needs? is there no free will? what if lucien wishes the union but she doesn’t?”

if anyone can sense if something is amiss. it’s a mate.” ⇢ lucien murmured to me, eye still fixed on elain, “should we- does she need...?” “she doesn’t need anything”, azriel answered (...) “the cauldron has made you a seer.”

elain only shrank further into herself, no trace of that newfound boldness to be seen” (with lucien) vs “offer and permission” (with azriel) 

lucien blushed (while talking about vassa) (...) “she’s got a foul temper and a fouler mouth”

“(...) if it wasn’t for vassa.” a twitch of the lips, a spark in that russet eye. “she’s doing well enough. savoring every second of her temporary freedom.”

“a bird of flame and a lord of fire. i wondered if they’d found each other yet.”

so from what we’ve gathered so far, sjm dropped hints that: lucien is elain’s mate but they’re one of those couple of mates that won’t work and/or that azriel is her mate and there’s also something there about lucien and vassa. i’d say at this point it’s pretty obvious how things are going to go and, if you read the books, you know that there’s even plenty more evidence of that. elain and lucien won’t end up together and they A: find a way to break/reject the bond, B: choose other people even if they’re still mates, C: they’re not mates, D: none of the above, sjm will come up with something else, but one thing is for sure: they’re not endgame, and there are already hints about who they’ll actually end up with: elain with azriel (acotar5) and lucien with vassa.

i won’t talk about azriel and his pov and gwyn because:

i actually already have (x)

there’s no point in doing it after what sarah said (to keep it short, gwyn: one of the new characters that just expanded the world etc: gw/nriel = crack ship)

there was nothing there anyway except for a couple of friendly interactions in acosf (actually, not even that, since az himself thought that he didn’t consider her a friend) and lightsinger/whatever else she is hints in the pov

imo even if, in a parallel universe, everything that happened with elain, him, lucien, vassa didn’t exist, even if sarah didn’t say all that stuff about the new characters, even with no lightsingers, even with azriel going to the library because he wanted to and not because he was lured there, there’s just no way that he’s going to end up with anyone that’s not elain after “wrong. it was so wrong. he didn’t care. he needed to know what the skin of her neck tasted like. what those perfect lips tasted like” (and so much more *coughs* four books of build up *coughs*) vs “he wouldn’t go so far as to call gwyn a friend” + regifting a necklace that symbolizes elain and was meant for her first. i’ve seen some people say he’s “in lust” with elain or whatever and he’ll be “in love” with gwyn but luckily sarah, a feminist (and the same woman that put all of that smut in acosf, oh and let’s not forget wings and embers, funny how i don’t see people talking shit about cassian’s sexual attraction to nesta though), won’t indulge in those misogynistic headcanons and she will never write a book where everything that happened betweet elain and azriel pre acosf disappears and elain/elriel is suddenly reduced to nothing but pent up sexual frustration while gwyn “is not like other girls” and azriel will end up with her after using elain just to hook up. go read a 2012 harry styles wattpad fanfic if you’re looking for that. 

last, but not least, i’m going back one more time to those hints we’ve talked about to include my personal favorite:

Azul's Handwriting: While I wouldn't make myself an excellent student of the arts of good handwriting (much less I can't say I, myself, have good handwriting), Azul's signature is written within four confident strokes; namely in the order 'Azul A-shengrotto' and a line to finish up the 'tt'.

One thing that irks me with his signature is that the number of loops and the sharpness on the z's point is done too perfectly. In terms of writing speed, I would sum it up to confident, smooth strokes, not too fast nor too slow, again, perfect. Compared to Floyd's short, direct, and fast handwriting, or Jade's simple yet elegant signature, Azul's is far too...showy. One thing you can never replicate on a person's handwriting is muscle memory: the way they do the hoops, how they sting the letters, and the pressure they place on the pen. Azul has a perfect grip on his pen: summing up to the bold lines and thin ones alternated, the hoops being the grandeur show of how perfect his stroke is.

After the long discussion of how Azul writes, I'd like to take it upon myself to know how he did. Per his backstory, Azul wrote many things on clams, he perhaps honed his handwriting in that time. But by personal headcanon, he wrote to impress.

Comparing Azul's handwriting to another showy friend, Vil Schoenheit's, Azul's hoops are more exaggerated and his letters are sharper, meanwhile, Vil's is smoother and flowy. While it may be irrelevant (and perhaps unfair) to compare how they write, Azul's handwriting, while perfect, is rather stiff the more I look at it.

Going back to the personal headcanon, Azul. Really Really wanted to impress his fellow peers with his hoops and showy zigzag letters, so much that he probably practiced his handwriting to be perfect and legible for all to see. He spent all those time writing in clams, and his frustration perhaps sharpened his letters. Sharp, confident (or the mask of), and decorated with intricate hoops, very in character for Azul Ashengrotto.

Regarding your headcannon, I actually do agree with the idea that Azul wanted to impress his classmates with his handwriting! If I may ramble for a bit under the cut, I have a lot of reasons why Azul may have wanted to impress.

Because he was bullied, Azul probably wanted to try to fit in or climb up the social rung so nobody would make fun of him anymore. Now, how do you do that exactly...?

In the social hierarchy in school, there are certain people who are the ones on top or the ones who are popular. I can’t speak for most schools, but in my school, the ones who are well-liked are the smart people, the artists, the writers (stories, essays, doesn’t matter), the dancers, the leaders, the musicians. I can also say that pretty confidently due to my experiences being in a friend group that is seen as outcasts. Within my friends, only two people, me and another friend, were notably more liked by our classmates than our other friends... at least, that’s how it seemed to be like. And this is because for that one friend, she’s very talented in her art, and as for me, people see me as someone ‘smart’ and would look to me for help.

So where am I getting at? All those people, the smart ones, the artists, the dancers... they all have one thing in common: they have talent. They have notable talents that have been honed and are now used to either help in certain school projects or simply to impress. And when someone has more talent in a certain field, they will be sought after more by others. People will want to befriend them more.

In other words, what can bring someone up there in the social hierarchy is the talent that they possess.

And that’s what Azul must have concluded as well, and that conclusion manifests in his unique magic.

Azul’s unique magic, as we all know, is It’s A Deal. He can take the abilities, whether magical or non-magical, of a person using this magic. As seen in chapter 3-33, there is technically no need for a contract for It’s A Deal to take place, but due to how potent this unique ability is, Azul has to use a contract as a check and balance. So take out all the contracts and other complicated things, and we see a spell that simply takes anyone’s magic and other abilities.

Following the theory that the unique magic of individuals is a manifestation of the sufferings they underwent, Azul’s unique magic may have been born from a desire to be just as talented as his peers. We see that he clearly worked hard in his studies, to the point that he’s become much more well-versed in magic than most of the students. But at some point, a certain thought may have popped up, something that many of us probably thought as well:

I wish I was just as good as them.

Azul actually expresses this in chapter 3-33, albeit it’s implicit. Quoting from shel_bb’s translations, Azul says this in response to Floyd’s ‘lame’ comment towards him:

Azul: Ah... is that so? You’re aware that I’m a stupid clumsy octopus that can’t do anything by himself. So I’m going to keep taking until I’m the best version of myself I can possibly be. A beautiful singing voice, powerful magic, everything belongs to me! Give it all to me!

And later on in the same chapter, he says in his overblot when you defeat him:

Azul: Why does everyone bully me?! Because I’m a stupid clumsy octopus? I just wanted to be strong and show them they’re wrong...!

I italicized a few sentences here to emphasize my points. Azul wanted to prove his bullies wrong and show them that he’s much better than what they think of him to be. He studied as a result and wrote all those spells on the clams. But at some point, he probably thought that he still hasn’t arrived to where he wants to be because maybe the bullying didn’t let up. So it was likely that he ended up wishing that he was just as talented as his peers. And in part of that journey, he must have worked on his handwriting to show the people around him that he isn’t stupid or clumsy.

WARNING: BIG ONE PUNCH MAN WEBCOMIC AND MANGA SPOILERS

GenoSai: do I even have to say it?? They compliment each other so well and are already besties. They make me so happy and I love their love. Genos literally came into Saitama’s life and brought so much new life and excitement when Saitama thought he’d never get any. Genos gives him love and appreciation all the time and never abandons him. Saitama isn’t connected to his feelings, but he cares about Genos and would do just about anything for him, to keep him safe. Genos constantly teases Saitama and Saitama grumbles and takes it with some banter, Genos is super emotional and Saitama does his best to comfort him, they fucking love shopping together and just hanging out period, they talk about the dumbest shit and somehow they still understand each other with the one brain cell they both share. It takes Genos forever to realize his feelings are deeper and Saitama has to be TOLD by their friends that he should fucking realize his feelings already. Just...I could keep going but I’ll stop! 2718873737839439/10 (let’s not talk about the age gap btw, 6 years isn’t bad and Genos is a legal adult.)

FubuSai: the stereotypical straight ship ppl gravitate to. Eh. I can see it, but at the same time I feel like they don’t completely compliment each other. Are they a hot couple? Duh. But I feel like their pride and communication issues would get in the way. 4/10

TatsuSai: hnghhhh. Someone mentioned this before, can’t remember who, but Saitama literally thinks she’s a child in canon. So that just....makes it gross. Same problems as FubuSai but worse. I’d rather see them as hesitant friends w a weird bond. 0/10

SonSai/SonicSai/idk the ship name: eh, toxic. Cant see them getting past communication issues and pride, again. Plus Sonic wants to kill his ass. Also, I just feel no romantic tension?? Even in fanfic it just falls flat for me. 3/10

MumenSai: a favorite!! Wish I saw it more, it’s very cute. Mumen is so kind and would absolutely be there to help him w self esteem and just help him be a better person period. And Saitama would have a cute little kind guy to tease and open up to. I could maybe see Mumen’s kindness getting on Saitama’s nerves when he’s in a bad mood bc Mumen almost never snaps and Saitama feels shittier, or maybe Mumen being mad at Saitama for being kinda lazy at home while Mumen is working his ass off and he’s like babe I just got home, please stop playing the fucking game and pay attention to me I have a concussion again. Prob too nitpicky on this one, heh, but 8.4/10

Genos x Sonic: wtf? As a crack ship, sure. That’s hilarious. But as a serious ship, 1.3/10 bc I could MAYBE see them bond over their love of my chemical romance or sum.

TatsuKing: eh. Indifferent on this one too. I can see them getting along and Tatsu being the mean but supportive gf in public, but a sweet gf in private. King could be like her calm oasis of video games and sweet blonde shy bf. I sway more towards ace/aro King and queer non binary Tatsu, but this is still good. 6/10

FubuPsy/Fubuki x Psykos/idk: hell yeah!! This series NEEDS more wlw ships, both for me to project onto and to cry over. Prob my fav Fubuki ship, cuz they’ve known each other since they were young and had a tenuous friendship. I didn’t use to ship it until I saw that scene in the wc after the MA arc (u know the one) but here we are. They’re big personalities so any interaction is bound to be chaotic at first, but I really think they’d work. Pride put to the side, Psykos could be someone for Fubuki to finally rely on other than the Blizzard Bunch, someone to confide in, a badass partner to fight monsters with, talk about nothing for hours with, be a super fashionable #girlboss couple with, and someone who would really see her for who she is-especially w Psykos knowledge of her from the past. Hell, Psykos might even know her better than Tatsumaki. Fubuki could be an anchor to her like she currently is in the wc, providing a quiet comfort and making her open up little by little. Would prob be toxic at first bc of the MA arc and their desire for power, but is a very good ship I think. 9/10

Speedal/Sonic x Mumen: an old fav! Sonic would have a hard time not hating Mumen at first bc he’s the picture definition of a hero, sum he hates. But hanging out with him would show him Mumen is a GOOD guy genuinely and he’d be like ohhhh shit I’m in love w this man. Mumen would thoroughly appreciate someone to make him live a little, break some rules and stand up to ppl when they talk over him. He’d DEFINITELY be upset when finding out Sonic is an assassin, but would prob be conflicted bc he knows Sonic is a good person despite that. Would prob make Sonic give up on killing for them to be together. Sucks bc of the assassin thing and bc they haven’t met in canon! So we’re not sure how they’d interact with each other, sigh. 7.4/10

Okamaitachi x Bushidrill: a very underrated ship! To be clear, I headcanon Kama as a trans woman and so does most of the fandom. Anyway, very sweet and already built as a friendship bc of their partnership under Atomic Samurai. I can’t remember who writes fic and makes art of them on tumblr but AAAAA it’s so good! Very sweet. Basically depicted Bushi as a nervous himbo who’s honest about his feelings but scared to say them and Kama as a sweet lady who’s crazy about Bushi. Very sweet. Want more of them!! 6.1/10

OneZon/Zombieman x One Shotter: never even thought of the ship till I saw @megidolan art work! Very wholesome, and from what little we know of Shotter we know he’s a sort of nervous yet strong willed guy, and Zombieman would totally help him calm down bc he’s so chill. I could see them sharing cigarettes and talking shit on heroes while cuddling u know? 7/10 only because I don’t see enough of it but very good concept.

Mumarou/Mumen x Garou: a lot of ppl are gonna hate me for this but....I don’t like it. I’ve tried! I just—idk. I’ve read so many good fics about them that make me like it a bit, but the concept is just eh. I think their relationship is, in most reps, really cliche angsty stuff. I wish I could elaborate I just...gah! Basically, there’s better ships for the both of them imo. Sorry!! 4.3/10

Sonic x Flashy/SonFlash: yes!! Prob my fav Sonic ship. They have soooo much tension, it’s almost worse than Genos’ tension w Saitama. Flashy LITERALLY poisoned Sonic so that he wouldn’t be forced to kill him at the ninja graduation. He cares. They’ll never say it out loud, but they care. They have someone who understands what they went through in each other and someone they’re both so similar to, yet so different from. Sonic is more vocal about his expressions and let’s people know it while Flashy often keeps things to himself, they could really influence the other to be more this or that. I could see a lot of comfort with these two, and not much is needed for relationship development; they already have so much unspoken between them after meeting for the first time in years. Love it. Wish I saw it more! 10/11

KingSai: wonderful! Out of the few ppl Saitama is close to, def my second fav pick for a ship for him. There’s a post saying how Saitama doesn’t cut King off when he’s going on rants about games and stuff bc he’s talking TO Saitama, not at him like Genos tends to do on accident. They’re already great buddies! Saitama could find a shy gamer man who he can talk to about manga and stuff and also a passionate bf who could break out of his shell w Saitama and be himself with no lies. King can have someone to protect him, duh, someone who finally understands his weird sense of humor, and someone to shower him in the love and kindness he deserves when Saitama is in the mood to be all out like that w his affections. Plus he’s Saitama’s anchor and brings him back down when he’s super anxious and depressed and tells him what’s up that he needs to fix without sugarcoating it. Would def have a bunch of inside jokes and go on dates that are just staying inside playing video games all night. Domestic af. 10/10

Fubuki x Mizuki: my first wlw Fubuki ship! Hard to find but very good. Mizuki is this big ball of kindness, energy, and raw power that would make Fubuki go ‘Ohhhhhhh, big pretty lady make brain go brrr.’ I could see Mizuki grounding Fubuki when she’s in over her head, giving her random gifts bc she saw sum and thought of her, doing a marathon run and wildly waving at Fubuki in the crowd, and all around being a dependable woman confident in herself and in love with a mysterious esper. Prob a little shy when it comes to anything physical bc she loves Fubuki so much and is overwhelmed by the realness of being w her. Fubuki gives Mizuki advice on ‘acting like a proper hero’ or whatever and though Mizuki thinks she doesn’t need it, Fubuki still helps her a lot w her career and being taken more seriously by others. Would give Mizuki someone who loves her for who she is and would go wild on her in private when she can be open about her affection, would be someone Mizuki could exercise with and listen intently to Mizuki’s physical knowledge, and would absolutely bandage her when she’s all banged up. Hnghh love this ship. It’s only behind the FubuPsy ship juuuuust a little bc they haven’t met in canon so we can’t be sure about their interactions and stuff. 8.8/10, I love WOMEN

Batarou: how could I go this far without mentioning them?! They have SOOOO much tension in the centichoro fight, like come on. Both snarky assholes who are huge softies one the inside, Badd being the more logical one (still a himbo, tho) and Garou being the more chaotic one. Probably take forever to admit their feelings bc they’re so prideful and stupid <3 flirt through constant wrestling matches and it takes Genos saying ‘they should kiss already, they’re getting on his nerves’ for them to finally realize what’s up. (@rayadraws has a great au where Garou Genos and Badd are a chaotic friend squad and Genos is the only brain of the group, haha. Very good au y’all check it out!) Would constantly pick on each other affectionately and switch into concerned SO when the other is hurt like the big teddy bears they are. Raise Zenko together for sure. Garou would fumble being romantic and Badd would find it both hilarious and cute. 11/12

Zombie mask/Amai x Zombieman:

So. I don’t like Amai Mask and I used to hate him, BUT the webcomic and fic have really helped me calm down on him (he’s still a dick tho), so it’s easier to want to ship him and stuff. Bc of Amai’s anger issues and controlling behavior, I could see this relationship being super toxic and icky—but I think they have some form of understanding that pulls Amai back from being a complete dick, you know? Start off as fuck buddies and slowly form something else from spending companionable time together other than screwing. Zombieman pulls Amai back from his angry fits and soothes him over with his logic. Talk maaaaaad shit about heroes, but only when they’re alone because Zombieman knows Amai will talk loud af about the heroes they’re roasting and Zombie doesn’t wanna stop a fight from happening. Zombieman loves making Amai flustered and has a secret check list in his head of all the things that get Amai red faced. Loves to listen to Amai rant about things for hours and loves to watch his face go through almost cartoon like expressions as he talks. He won’t admit it, but Zombie loves to be spoiled by Amai’s shit tons of cash and often takes rides in Amai’s limos when he wants to smoke and think to himself. Amai has a hard time realizing how his feelings have changed, but gets hit hard with it when he wakes up to Zombie making them breakfast one morning while wearing Amai’s underwear. Amai also loves to spoil Zombie and takes him out to restaurants and buys him cool new weapons on the weekends. @batneko has pretty much gotten me into this ship and I strongly suggest looking at their works! 7.9/10

DemonKnight/Genos x Zero/Drive Knight: I’m pretty sure this used to be a crack ship before the past like 10 manga chapters—and now here we are! Not a fav bc 1. ZERO LEFT GENOS TO SELF DESTRUCT AFTER THEY COMBINED TO FORM THE FUCKING JET HE WAS JUST LIKE lol bye SO LIKE if he left him to die that’s super hard for me to forgive and ship grrr 2. Disregarding the manga’s canon and looking at the wc, while I love the little trip they went on where Zero demonstrated his abilities and helped Genos kill monsters, it’s super sus. He knew alllll of this info on Metal Knight and was super supportive and understanding when Genos said he needed time to think. Like,,,what are his intentions? We know so little about him—is he trying to trick Genos or was he being sincere? THAT STUFF ASIDE, they’re a really fun ship. They’re both huge fucking nerds and can keep up with their talk on robotics for hours, they’re both cyborgs so they understand each other’s pain, and they’re both super cool and angsty. I think they could really settle into a deep bond that can go platonic or romantic, just depends. Genos needs more ppl in his life so hell yeah! Plus, he can really let go with Zero bc they don’t have that teacher/student relationship and Zero, if he’s really a sincere and kind guy like in the wc, can be there for Genos and listen to him. Don’t have much to say on this ship other than @wellthisisembarrassing makes GORGEOUS art of them! 6.3/10

Webuiko/Suiko x Webigaza: YEAH I KNOW THEY HAVENT INTERACTED IN CANON AND WE DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM BUT HEAR ME OUT. Webigaza—cool af determined cyborg idol who’s surprisingly down to earth when talking with Child Emperor. Suiko—sassy and honest fighter who doesn’t take shit and is very passionate. Suiko would go to talk to Web then immediately freak out bc aaaa she’s way prettier than she thought, she can’t do this! Web would have to gently encourage Suiko to talk and at first is like ‘ah man, must be an adoring fan, ugh I’m so tired. At least she’s hot’ but when Suiko snaps out of her shyness Web is like oh! She’s super cool wtf. Always bump into each other during fights and help each other get fixed up, Suiko using her muscle power to lift Web’s pieces (and give Web a great view of Suiko’s muscles holy SHIT) and Web would patch Suiko up. Not to be stereotypical, but they’re def a masc/femme couple. I love the idea of this ship soooo much and I really hope they interact! 6.6/10 only bc they haven’t met 😭😭😭 look them up on here! There’s some great art of them by a few blogs

Dr. Kuseno x Bang: pretty sure @baldyborg came up with this one! Super cute. Just two old dudes finding a nice friendship in each other, maybe after Bang helps carry Genos to Kuseno’s after a day of fighting. Bang would find Kuseno to be a very cute little nerd man and would be sooo impressed by Kuseno’s mad scientist skills. Kuseno would be super impressed when seeing Bang in action too. They’d prob talk as soon as they meet each other and Genos would be in the background like you guys it’s been an hour, please fix me I’m on the verge of death 🧍🏻Bang would give Kuseno advice on training techniques to teach Genos and advice on making his bodies more martial arts ready or sum, meanwhile Kuseno would give his take on how to be kinder to Garou so that Bang would learn to repair the relationship with a gentleness he’s seemingly lacking (yes I’m talking about the chapter where he and Garou start fighting and Bang is just not doing enough to reach out to Garou, he’s being a callous old man! So yeah I’m still mad about that). Genos and Saitama would prob be out on a date and Saitama would be like oh theres Bang, wonder what he’s doing? Then Kuseno would walk up and kiss Bang and Genos and Sai would be shocked like SIRS 👬 Genos would tell Bang he doesn’t need another adoptive dad and Bang would be like....ok.... I see them retiring in a cottage together and Bang would become a huge softie. Yes I’m actively ignoring chapter 141 of the wc, shut up. 7.6/10

TankTop master x Mumen: they have a nice friendship going on in the manga right now! Just bros supporting bros. Tank is the picture definition of a muscly himbo and Mumen is his cute passionate bf. Also workout buddies af!! Don’t have much to say other than pretty good ship, just not a fav. 5.2/10

Would you say he is or call dark pit “edgy”? So many people are under the impression he is just an evil and/or edgy version of Pit similar to shadow the hedgehog, but it always seems to me he was more like a parody and subversion of the dark counter parts commonly seen in media.

I would say that Dark Pit is a little edgy, primarily in the earlier chapters, but hardly in a bad or evil way. He has a very “cool” attitude about him, being prone to deadpan snark and usually showing up to fight people. But to describe his entire character as “edgy Pit” is pretty misleading, I agree.

See, the thing about using “edginess” as a character trait is that it can easily be taken to an extreme. A character solely based on it tends to become impossible to write in a way that isn’t either a joke or overly serious all the time. Dark Pit isn’t either of those things, because any edge he has is really just surface-level stuff.

And I’m glad you mentioned Shadow, because he’s actually a perfect example of the point I’m trying to make. So I’m gonna take a quick detour and talk about him for a bit, because this?

This is edginess in all its glory. In Sonic Boom, Shadow has maybe three personality traits: he doesn’t like people, he does like fighting Sonic, and is comically easy to offend. As an extension to “not liking people,” he refuses to ally himself with any of the other groups of heroes and villains.

Sounds pretty similar to Dark Pit when he’s first introduced, right? He fights Pit seemingly just because, is regularly annoyed by most of the cast and makes it a point that he only works for himself. They even both have the dark hair and red eyes!

Except that unlike Shadow, Dark Pit has definable reasons for behaving this way, and they’re not the only traits he has.

For one thing, he has a sense of humor - something absent from a certain brand of edgelords. But he also develops into someone who can be pretty heroic, going out of his way to save Pit and Palutena on at least three separate occasions. (I would argue that he always had a heroic streak but it’s hard to say given how little screen time he got)

And it’s not hard to figure out why he’s so bitter about everything, because he literally just. Tells us??

He feels like he would be (or, depending on your headcanon, had been) treated like a puppet by Palutena, the person who matters most in Pit’s life, and is frustrated by the gods ruining the world with their wars. Which I’d say are pretty sensible things to be bothered by, yeah?

It’s also worth noting that “the gods” make up like 90% of this game’s cast, and we never get to see him interact with anyone outside of them and Pit. So the fact that he buckles down and saves Pit and Palutena’s lives speaks volumes about his moral compass and how much he actually cares for them.

Hmm I wonder who else was created to be a dark counterpart to the main character, started as an antagonist but became an undeniably heroic person who loves his friends despite his aloof exterior--oH WAIT

You thought I was done talking about Shadow, didn’t you

It would be an absolute disservice to talk about Shadow as if his Boom counterpart is the sum of his character, because the original Shadow was much more like how Dark Pit is now.

He might behave in a typically “darker and edgier” way compared to Sonic, but the core of his character is someone who overcomes various deep-seated personal troubles (amnesia, wanting revenge, etc) to become a kinder, more heroic individual by the end of it.

Once again, the edge is a surface-level thing. The impression I get from Dark Pit is that he talks like an edgy rival character because he just likes to. It’s fun for him, similar to how Shadow is a bit of a show-off. There’s an external and internal side to writing characters, and if Dark Pit was more like Shadow from Sonic Boom, then all the internal substance would be practically nonexistent.

TLDR: Dark Pit is a little edgy, yes, but in a Shadow the Hedgehog pre-2010 way where he has actual character depth and his edginess doesn’t stop him from being heroic.
