As far as she could tell, ordinary Nebraskans did not know about the issue. “I knocked doors for a year, and nobody brought this up.” She said she wished the bill had never been introduced.

state-level politicians are often, lbr, kinda dipshitty, but the wounded-deer-routine of oh-deary-me-i-can’t-possibly-know-anything-about-the-news is the exact type of dipshittery that particularly makes me go “aaaargh” and tear out my damn hair

and i find it extra annoying since i honestly believe you don’t have to be some hyper-lefty bleeding-heart to oppose this (vile) bill.  there’s a very solid, boring, small-c conservative case to be made against it, on the basis of, “why the fuck is the state senate passing laws prohibiting stuff that should really be left to the judgment of a doctor and their patients, the AMA and board certification and malpractice suits already exist to cover Actual Medical Abuses and this is not that, nuke the damn bill”

(and i don’t think that reasoning would even be particularly out of step with their base!  people like their local representatives, and “keep Big Government TM out of your child’s health decisions” is the kind of thing that markets well in that area, etc)

anyway, if anyone could make that case & weather whatever blowback came of it, it’d be a self-avowedly "not even into the bill in the first place” state senator who’s coming up against their own term limit anyway, who need not be especially accountable to the national party, and who works in a state where senators are very explicitly a part-time not-well-renumerated thing (so, like, worst-case scenario, you get primaried out of office—boo hoo, oh no your measly 12k a year is gone, seriously just get another part-time gig it’ll be fine)...

...buuut they’ve apparently all got jell-o spines and/or blackened coals for hearts, so,,,

if youd like to know what caused aj to go after kastelic its because of two hits on adam and jesper that happen within 7 seconds of each other and while casters were quick to note the jesper hit they never mentioned kastelic basically riding adam near the benches hard not even a few seconds before that and those within tandem is what makes aj go enoughs enough! and shed his gloves

I genuinely don't know and at this rate I'm a little scared?

I don't wanna vote for Biden again. And in a perfect world (or at least my ideal) enough people would vote for hard for 3rd party that Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia would be voted into office. Hell, if the Democrats backed someone who wasn't Joe Biden for president I'd have more hope (depending on the person of course).

Unfortunately any conversation I have outside of Tumblr about the election basically ends in 'yeah I don't like Biden and I don't like Trump but voting 3rd party isn't really an option because of how the system works' so it's really hard for me to believe that enough people are gonna actually vote third party for it to work the way we'd like?

So the best case scenario would be 'so many people vote for a third party candidate like Claudia and Karina that they get elected into office and make sweeping changes we all love and need.'

I'm just not sure if the best case scenario is what's actually gonna happen. In fact, I am really scared that it won't.

I know this isn't the bright sunny hopeful take people were probably hoping for from the resident SolarpunkAni but its something that's been kinda haunting me for the past few weeks so here's my thoughts.

maybe this is just my frustration with being forced to watch mitchless hockey but last year's push to the playoffs felt genuine - there were multiple trades made for players that clearly added value and kicked the end of the season into high gear (we got ror and had that electric game against buffalo when anything felt possible). this year has just felt so bleh bc we've known about the glaring gaps in depth scoring and the blue line since the beginning of the season and then it just got worse throughout the season and now we haven't had anything to address it - it's hard to see genuine hope for this team and it feels like a slog of hot streaks and disconnected play in between. i watch them bc the core does incredible record-breaking things almost every game but it's hard to belive in a team that's really not that exciting or can barely hold their own in some cases, other than the core.

i agree to an extent!! maybe it's bc last year was my first full year really paying attention to hockey too and everything was shiny and new, but i had a really good time and then. kyle leaving hit and a lot of the old room guys left and it just....... idk. i needed last summer for a reset and i went into this year hopeful but. it's been a disappointment in a lot of ways.

as for the playoffs part... i mean, i just convince myself the leafs are gonna win the cup until they don't so lfksdjlf it's easy for me to be like go leafs ! ! ! but i'm definitely not having as much fun or putting as much stake in the overall team success as i was last year. the fact that they won their first playoff series in decades last year was SO special and cannot be replicated or outdone or relived unless they win a cup now, which is a tall ask esp with this lineup. i definitely care less about this team on the whole and have less belief in them than i did which is... fine. they also feel less like a team. maybe every year i'll just care less and less or maybe brad will do something over the summer that's exciting or, idk. the fandom in general has really detracted from it for me too this year, and i just care less/feel actively annoyed by more and maybe that's a me thing or maybe the average age of ppl everywhere is staying put pretty low and i'm just getting too old for some of this but. can't wait to get a break this year, that's all lol
