Don't quote me on this but japanese speakers on Twitter are freaking out over a question that Kubo answered on Bleach's official fan club (Klub outside). Hitsugaya is actually older than Hinamori. I don't speak Japanese so not too sure about it.
I'll preface this post by saying, like anon, do not quote me on any of this. I saw something big seemed to be happening in the Twitter fandom and just used Google translate to find out.
With that said, I saw the Japanese fandom freaking out about it yesterday. I didn't bring it up here because I also don't read or speak Japanese, so Google translate gave me some....interesting translations. However, the general gist is that it seems someone asked on Klub Outside a question regarding Hitsugaya's age and Kubo has said Hitsugaya is older than Hinamori. Needless to say, my reaction was basically this:
All this time it's been implied again and again that, while not specific about the number of years, Hitsugaya was the younger one of the two, and I'm not just talking about his height and appearance. Some have interpreted the way Hinamori treated him when they were younger is that of someone who's younger than her, and then of course there's the whole 'Shiro-chan' thing, so yeah, I was pretty bamboozled when I saw this.
If it turns out this is truly the case and canon, then seriously Kubo just drops these facts and let's the fandom freak out about them XD I don't know if he's just trolling, if he doesn't know just how much hitsuhina fans would freak out, or if he knows exactly what he's doing and expected this.
As for me, if this turns out to be true, it'll take a bit of rewiring because 1) I've shipped them for over 10 years and you tend to build up a pretty solid perception of the characters and ship over a time period like that (that being, in humans years, I headcanoned that Hitsugaya was 13-15 years and Hinamori was 16-17 years old),2) it's a pretty big fact to just causally give to the fans. Up until now (and for the foreseeable future until someone can translate the answer).
Honestly though, unless he's significantly older than her (I'm talking, like, if he's hundreds of years older, like he should actually be an adult by this point but for whatever reason he's stuck in the body of a teenager), it doesn't affect my perception of Hitsugaya and Hinamori all that much. While there were certainly fics I wrote where I had their ages in mind (ie Hitsugaya being the younger and Hinamori the older one), for the most part it has been a big factor for me while I was writing fanfic for them. It'd just mean I'd have to go with a timeline, based on my theories and headcanons about how each of them came to be in Soul Society, that looks more like this:
Hitsugaya was born in the Soul Society. Granny, whether related to him or not, took him in and raised him.
Some years or so later, Momo arrives in the Rukongai, having died in the World of the Living as a child.
Toshiro, still a young child because of how slow Soul's age in the Soul Society, meets her not long after she arrives in the Junrinan. This would techincally make him older than her even though, in human years, she was older than him when she died and came to the Soul Society.
However, until I see the answer get translated by a credible source (ie. someone who has translated answers before and hasn't receive many corrections on their translations), I'm still going to see Hitsugaya as the younger one between him and Hinamori. Again, it doesn't really affect how I see them or their relationship all that much if it turns out it was the other way around.
#hitsuhina#such a weird fact to drop#if it's true#asks#also disabling reblogging on this one#in case it turns out this is misinformation#and I don't want to spread anything that's not accurate to Kubo's answers on Klub Outside

lately, i've seen more people in the online autistic community acknowledging the struggles of people with higher support needs, which is of course an important development. but for some, that seems to come with the implicit assumption that low needs autistics "have it easy" or experience no stigma at all, which is just wrong??? people with low support needs are still disabled by their autism and still face discrimination because of it. sure, they are impaired to a lesser degree than those with higher support needs, but that doesn't mean you can just erase their struggles, y'know?
#sometimes i see posts that are like 'its unfair to say that autistic people have it easy and arent really disabled...' and go yes! exactly!#but then they'll continue like '...because not all autistic people have low support needs'#and i'm like. okay nevermind you dont understand this at all#i have comparatively mild autism (was diagnosed with aspergers back when that was still a thing)#and my autism has still significantly impacted and impaired my life#i think its important to acknowledge the huge range of experiences in the autistic community#and that many others have struggled much more than me#but that doesnt mean its all easy breezy for me and other lsn autistics yknow?#(i guess i would technically be considered medium support needs or something but that's because of my chronic illness not my autism)#i wish people would just. like. listen to other peoples experiences before just assuming that they know everything about their lives#ofc a huge part of this is also some lsn autistics distancing themselves from hsn people and pretending that they're not actually disabled#but not every lsn autistic is like that. and even the ones that are are usually (consciously or unconsciously) downplaying their symptoms#autism#actually autistic#actuallyautistic#this isn't really about the post i just reblogged btw it just reminded me of it#because some of the notes on it went in that direction

we are about an hour into rare disease day in my timezone! (it's always the last day of february, whether that's the 28th or the 29th.) the true prevalence of mast cell disorders is unknown, as they are often misdiagnosed or ignored. and mast cell activation syndrome, the most prevalent kind of mast cell disorder, only had diagnostic criteria laid out for the first time in 2010. so whether or not it's truly rare is really up in the air!
(personally I suspect it is just aggressively underdiagnosed but I'm not a research scientist or diagnostician right now. and even if it is rare, it's gonna be a lot less so than it was 5 years ago as certain respiratory infections are known to trigger it into visibility. that's what happened to me when I got mono at the end of 2015, further compounded when I got covid in 2022.)
all chronically ill people face a lot of hurdles when it comes to seeking diagnosis, accommodation, and treatment (all of which can be severely complicated by any intersecting marginalities), but rare diseases present a special challenge.
for example, I have an immune disorder. my immune system does not like being alive, my mast cells are way too jumpy and throw a tantrum over every little thing. you'd think an immunologist would be the one to treat me, right?
I've had 6 immunology referrals rejected in the past 9 months alone. multiple major immunology clinics in my major city tied to a major research university outright refuse to see patients with "mcas" written anywhere in their chart.
after 8 years of being debilitatingly ill, and suspecting it was immune mediated for 6, and getting it confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt by the bone marrow biopsy last month, I will have my second ever appointment with an immunologist. another 2 1/2 months from now. the first immunologist lied to me about the reliability of the one available blood test, when I first came up with the hypothesis by myself 6 years ago, and forced me to abandon my (correct!!! now proven!!!) hypothesis for 3 entire years while we wandered around lost and got nowhere other than even more thorough process of elimination.
okay, well if my immune system is attacking me, maybe it's technically autoimmune? that's the rheumatologists instead of the immunologists, what do they have to say? dick all my dude, I don't have rheumatoid arthritis so they just shrug at me and go "idk, fibro? I don't know why you're here" and send me home with nothing. (I literally had a rheumatologist say to me, verbatim, "I don't know why you're here." buddy it's your job to read the chart and decide if I get seen or not, you tell me. at least he had a snazzy outfit.)
being chronically ill can be a terrible struggle no matter what, but a disease that is perceived as rare, accurate or not, adds a whole new layer of bullshit. (and of course there are much much rarer diseases out there, with even more hoops and dead ends and struggles and all-new layers of bullshit that even I don't have to deal with!)
anyway I'm having a shit time and using this awareness day as an excuse to productively bitch about it 👍

people love an "i'll take care of you" "it's rotten work" "not to me, not if it's you" character dynamic until the character who needs to be taken care of is disabled. then it's supposedly fucked up and toxic for a person to have to take care of someone else.
#eliot posts#this is continuing off that last post i reblogged#that time i was like ''aw tumblr is out of new posts for this character i like. reddit is empty too. lemme check twitter''#BIG MISTAKE#i had to see the hot take of#''it's fucked up to ship this because character A had to be character B's caretaker. that's basically slavery.''#LIKE BRUH???#have you. ever met a couple where one of them is disabled and needs a caretaker? bc that's a very real thing that happens and it's not toxi#honestly usually the risk in those situations is the power the caretaker nay have over their disabled partner#but that imbalance can be properly navigated#and is not a concern in these two characters' case bc there is a very clear mutual respect there#caregiver fatigue is a real problem too of course but that's ALSO something that can be successfully navigated#and in these particular characters' case doesn't seem like it would be an issue because like#character b also has professional caretakers who will likely continue to be part of his life if needed#(and the money to hire more if not)#like it's okay to not like the ship#maybe the age gap of someone in their 20s w someone in the equivalent of their 30s squicks you out#maybe you monogamously ship one or both of them w someone else#maybe you think their dynamic is way more interesting from a platonic angle than from a romantic one#maybe you just aren't interested in their dynamic#those are all fair points! i'm not even ride or die for that ship myself#but jesus fucking christ you don't gotta be ableist about it#oh or the equally bad take i saw on there of#''character a could never be attracted to character b. he just sees char b as a sick dying old dog that he needs to take care of''#like no! character a clearly respects and values character b! they are friends! the issue is just that YOU see character b as a dying dog.

people have GOT to be more comfortable with some spaces not being about them. sometimes spaces are not for you. sometimes you will be told you cannot enter a space because it’s not for you. or you cannot bring a friend because a space is for you and not for them. that’s ok
#also you can relate to someone and fall under the same categories or experience similar things but the space is specifically for another#group and so you can’t enter. you’re still in the wider community with these people#i’m not going to invite a christian to shul with me on yom kippur or something. i’m not going to invite physically abled people into#disability spaces. that doesn’t mean we can’t have overlapping experiences or be in the same wider community. it just means that they cannot#enter the smaller one#this is about the returned cripple punk discourse. physically disabled people and mentally disabled people are both disabled! we are all in#community together! we all fall under that community!#but cripple punk is not for people who are physically abled. it’s in the name. if you’re not a cripple then you don’t fall under cripple#punk. that doesn’t mean you’re not disabled. it just means you’re not physically disabled#my post#y’all can reblog this if you want#this goes for so many spaces too

me: *on page 10 of the communist manifesto and already has 3 pages of notes trying to comprehend what the fuck this guy is saying* *has spent multiple hours reading the first 10 pages*
#this is not saying that reading theory is unimportant#it's just saying that you're a fucking liar if you think all theory is accessible#and this also isnt saying that all theory is the communist manifesto level of difficult#just that sometimes people cant read certain pieces of theory because they are not accessible#people have cognitive and language disabilities sometimes#and other people are Just Bad At This#and that's okay and that doesnt make them less of a leftist#anyways reblogs off for this one because I dont want a swarm

because some of you are very annoying god bless
#I am also very annoying#jokes aside I disable reblogs because it's genuinely a more effective way to kill a post than by deleting it#because deleting a post only removes the source and stops you from getting notifs#but you still get asks trying to riff on a bit you did two years ago#the bottom line is that there is a secret level of unfunny you can reach where even I go 'oh god for fucksake' and kill one of my posts

After every (American) election, there's always a bunch of posts going around exposing psyops or pointing out how there were posts on this site designed to get people to not vote blue.
And in the lead up to every (American) election, there's a bunch of posts being reblogged that are clearly either psyops or manipulative posts that tell people it's perfectly okay for them not to vote at all.
Like, there's history going back years on this hellsite where the alt-right intentionally tried to undermine or indoctrinate people so they get/stay in power. History a lot of y'all know of or were even there for and saw go down in real time.
But sure, be uncritical of what you reblog, don't bother looking at the source website, or just put things out there without caveats or nuance.
#i know media literacy is trash these days#and that there's intentional misinformation/no information about elections#but i've seen people who have reblogged things about psyops in the past who both reblog and support current ones#but unlike other social media sites you can reblog a post but then stick nuance in the tags#you can be critical of something while also gritting your teeth and supporting it because the alternative is worse#you can (and should) also be critical of the systems that lead to that in the first place#throwing your hands up and saying there's no point and you aren't going to bother#and it's fine if others do the same#is just giving up and saying it's too hard for you and you don't care about the harm that comes to others#the canadian system is different (though first past the post tries to make it the same)#but you can bet i'd vote for trudeau even though fuck him and his racist ass#if the alternative was pp because while trudeau sucks for many reasons#pp is fucking terrifying to me as a disabled queer person#and i'm lucky in that i'm white and canadian and can pass as cishet so i'd be spared the worst of it#others would not be so lucky#especially when his fans are eager to hate crime people and only hold themselves back because they would face social consequences#also learn what is private criticism you keep to yourself or talk to friends about#and what is okay to talk about publicly#some things you don't fucking say when it will be taken as permission for antipathy or approval by fascists

forgive any incomprehensibility but the notion that the world can be cleanly split between the two immutable categories of 'the neurotypical' and 'the neurodiverse' ignores the reality that any person can at any point for any reason be arbitrarily 'diagnosed' by a 'professional' and shuttled between categories with no regard for the notions of 'accurate traits' or 'specific symptoms'. nice dichotomy what lies outside of it? you understand me?
#N posts stuff#i'm reading some old issues of 'Phoenix Rising' and a line in one of the articles really caught me#''we are questioning the very foundation of psychiatry which uses mental illness; which is often just behavior that is judged strange#by some usually conventional middle-class-standard of morality''#also thinking about that post i reblogged yesterday claiming that 'posture sway' is a Symptom of adhd like.#Embracing the pathologizing of average behaviors VS the like. weaponizing of diagnoses against 'undesirables'#idk am i making sense? lol#like people talk about this re: disability - the notion that anyone can become disabled at any time but that's usually in the context#of like. 'anyone is one bad accident away from being disabled' but Neurodiversity in particular does not even require that much#another Phoenix Rising tells the story of a woman who like. got a little sick at work and diagnosed as 'stress' and prescribed a#heavy tranquilizer that caused side effects no one had told her about; she got confused at her appointment and her subsequent#panic got her involuntarily committed as psychotic where they upped the medications and gave her ECT until the combo#caused so much brain damage that she seized and died. bc she threw up at work one day. the categories are not immutable and#the people who define them have agendas. who benefits from buying into this dichotomy? you understand what i'm saying?#anti psychiatry

From almost a year ago; what multiple scoliosis looks on me
So, my hip is a lil bit slanted and that makes one of my legs longer than the other; and so my spine tried to balance things out by turning into an S-shape. I never really considered it a disability because I can go on with my day most days without pain, even when the doctor who diagnosed me was like "yup, if you have kids you're gonna suffer even more and by 40 you'll probs need a wheelchair";
however, there are moments after walking for long periods (or really just bad days) where my hips hurt so bad I just wanna pass out, trying to walk real fast makes my right hip make a popping sound and it's painful, like a cramp. When I am with people that walk faster than my top speed (most of my friends rip) I either gotta try to keep up and bear the pain or stay behind watching the distance between us grow. It's really isolating in that sense. I can't lift more than 15k without my back resenting it later (I can't carry one of my dogs :( ) and let's not talk about sports that involve running 😂 I used to dance and that in of itself was a challenge for me; I'd be so sore after each routine, even after warming up. Wearing a back-brace(? Support thingy helps when sitting down for long periods but other than stretching exercises, there isn't much I can do about my fucked up back
Sometime all September and October last year I was going through a very hard time dealing with body image issues. Tbh, I'm still am. So I did the very logical thing of taking some pics and painting them. This was the first time I had ever done some sort of portrait and it was cathartic in a way; I encountered the idea that my body will never look a certain way because of my back issues. I have always had "love handles" more noticeable on one side than the other. I'd think that if my back was a bit straighter, I'd probably not have them at all. The amount of times I've tried to stand as straight as possible, trying to get them to disappear... yeah, that's embarrassing. But oh well, surgery isn't really an option for me so I gotta work on making peace with them🫠. Which is something I want to work on, so here's to that!
Anyways, I spent a good chunk of this month thinking if I should post in this so here it goes aaa
#Hpersonal#bullet journal#scoliosis awareness#scoliosis#disability month#disability pride month#anyways I rememver that I was really proud of how the skin turned out I actualy felt good after painting this#catch me coming to term with calling this a disability even though I didn't really consider it one until recently that it dawned on me#that I can't do lots of things because of it#and while it would be considered a mild case#it's still very uncomfortable to live with it#sobs I just leaned back and my spine popped#anyways shout out to me falling off a horse for getting me diagnosed!!#if that hadn't happened I would probably be living in pain that didn't know where it came from#I think what bothers me the most about this whole thing is that people think I'm lazy for not engaging in more active activities#when in fact I do want to#I just don't want to be in pain yk#also it okie to reblog or whaetver :'D

Okay. Watching The Bad Batch for the first time and I’ve only gotten 2/3rds of the way thru the first season thus far, but I feel I now understand the characters well enough to start making conjectures.
So here’s what I’ve got so far:
Due to the inherent Muchness of heightened senses, I wouldn’t doubt a sensory processing disorder for Hunter. It’s clear that he’s gotten a handle on it (aka learned to adapt to, compensate for, and understand it) by the time TBB appears in The Clone Wars, but I bet it was hard to deal with when he was younger.
Wrecker appears to have a developmental/learning/intellectual disability of some sort, compounded by a TBI. He struggles with bigger words and is impulsive, along with other notable markers. This could have stemmed from the accident that left the facial scar and blinded his eye, but it seems that, based on how the other three original bad batch clones act around him, that this has always been a thing. A TBI likely added to this, because he seriously just keeps getting smacked in the head, the poor guy. He’s just a walking headache.
That being said, he likely gets lots of migraines. Seriously, that much head-smacking can’t result in a fun, happy time up in his head, pain-wise. I suspect the other four get them, too. Hunter has to process a lot of information from all senses, and Crosshair from his sight. That’s a lot to deal with, and I know I get headaches from a lot less. Tech… he’s staring at screens all day. Blue-light headaches much? And Echo… he’s literally got so much going on up there, technology wise, that it’s undoubtedly the cause of many a migraine. He’s one bad interface connection from a seizure, practically.
Crosshair has some attachment issues, I think. Like I believe all the clones would, had they not been programmed otherwise. They never got held by a caring individual, for gods sake. Maybe later generations had older brothers to hold them every so often, but that’s not enough. They never got one-on-one care. And, since his programming never kicked in correctly, Crosshair has all of that just shoved into his twig body. So, RAD, due to his obviously avoidant nature.
Tech is autistic and I don’t think that’s debatable, really. Like that textbook autism (which leads to a discussion about his savant nature being paired with a highly autistic-coded character and the harmful impact that could create for us autistic people in real life. The same harm of Wrecker’s disability vs how he’s treated as an ‘it’ in the show (said explicitly by Cid) and how Crosshair, with evident attachment issues, is demonised as the villain. BUT THATS ITS OWN ESSAY TO WRITE.)
Omega has ADHD and that one’s not heavily coded like the rest, but I think it fits!
None of them have true favourite siblings, but each are easier to go to for different things. Hunter, for leadership and emotional advice. Crosshair, for silent understanding (pre-chip activation). Wrecker, for emotional understanding and grounding. Tech, for intellectual advice and rationality. Echo, for interpersonal advice. Omega, for intrapersonal advice and a fresh, new perspective on everything.
I truly believe, in my heart of hearts, that Hunter would have the highest, shrillest scream. It doesn’t make sense, but it just seems right (to me personally).
Tech and Echo spend a lot of time on Echo’s implants and prostheses. Echo clearly isn’t using them for their original intent—some not even used at all—so they have to be updated, modified, or taken out. (As evidenced by the—I’m assuming what is a—neural interface he now wears and the lack of other implants he used to have in TCW.)
Echo has chronic pain, due to phantom limbs. That, and it must take a lot out of him for those prostheses. They're melded to him in a way that seems... not user-friendly. Techno Union wasn't doing it because they wanted him to live a fulfilling life. They did it because they needed him. They wouldn't care about his pain. It's unlikely that he doesn't feel constant pain. I'm guessing his everyday average pain level it's equivalent to what normal people (i.e.: people who aren't me or other chronic pain-havers) would consider a 4 out of 10.
I have a feeling that most of them know the basics of swimming, but likely aren’t good at it—Wrecker especially. And, with all that armour, it probably wouldn’t matter if they could swim or not. That shit will absolutely sink them. Omega, once taught, would LOVE IT, though.
Crosshair would let a tooka adopt him. As in, he would let the cat follow him around. Whether or not he’d do anything for or about the tooka… I don’t know. But he’d allow it. (Wrecker would dote on the thing if it followed him. Lula and said tooka would be his best buds. He may like explosions, but he’s a sweet guy at heart!)
Echo and Crosshair have absolutely held staring contests. Asserting dominance. (Somehow, despite not having been involved in the first place, Wrecker has won at least two of them.)
Hunter has a taste for meilooruns. Tech does not.
All of them snore. Echo’s even has an electronic buzzing to it. Tech is absolutely the loudest. Omega has wished to smother them all in their sleep.
#and they’re all Māori xoxo I’m not taking the fucking whitewashing#anyway that and also I really need to do a LONG WINDED ANALYSIS on the affects of handling disability in this show#it’s got a few good things#but mostly bad#(side note: please do not feel the need to agree with all these things! these are personal. if yku reblog you can say which—#—are the ones you do agree with and ignore the rest!)#(and another side note: maybe things like the swimming one will be proved wrong—that’s okay! this is based on the data I currently have#which isn’t much bc we currently only have one full season and two eps of the next as of this point)#(so overall: take with a small grain of salt! these are my headcanons based on current information!)#star wars: the bad batch#the bad batch#tbb#tbb omega#tbb crosshair#tbb wrecker#tbb hunter#tbb echo#tbb tech#god I have to tag a bunch of shit don’t I cause I don’t know What Is The Right Tags To Use#the bad batch omega#the bad batch hunter#the bad batch wrecker#the bad batch tech#the bad batch crosshair#the bad batch echo#clone trooper hunter#clone trooper crosshair#clone trooper wrecker#clone trooper tech#arc trooper echo
