Hey, I wanted to ask, how you took track of your sewing machine parts?

I recently got a Pfaff K from 1909. She still sews fine, but I think it would do her good if I could get her a "spa day"

But I'm absolutely petrified of not being able to build her together after cleaning. Did you have a guide for yours, or did you take pictures?

I didn't have any guide, since I couldn't find much of any info on my particular machine online, so yeah I just took a lot of pictures. (The manual does have an illustration of all the parts, but they're all separate so it wasn't much help.)

I took lots of before pictures of all the parts from multiple angles, and if there was a bit that came off and had smaller parts attached to it then I took more pictures before taking them off.

I also laid out the pieces in groups so I'd know which bits went together, and put the screws right next to the bits they attached to.

(I'm fortunate to have a table space where I can lay machine bits on paper towels knowing nobody will disturb them, but if you have any pets that might then it may be a good idea to sort them into little boxes or ziploc bags or something. I imagine these would be great fun for a cat to push onto the floor.)

All this made it pretty easy to put everything back together!

There was one screw I couldn't get out which prevented me from removing the long bits on the inside, but I think if I had I could have gotten them back in alright with enough careful wiggling. It was also REALLY REALLY HARD to get the wheel off, and the hinges, but I eventually managed.

There are a few tools that would have made it easier, like the guy in this video uses, but I managed okay with just some screwdrivers and veeery carefully bopping a few things gently with a ball peen hammer padded with rags. He also had to use wrenches for some parts, but my machine only had screws, or else I would have needed to borrow wrenches.

The most confusing bit was actually this ruffler attachment, which I also took apart and cleaned & oiled.

I took pics of it from every angle first, and I'm glad I did because it was not as intuitive to reassemble as the machine itself.

I should have measured exactly where things attached on the needle & presser foot bar, but didn't think to. But it was ok because the screws had left little dents in the surface, so I was able to get things lined up where they had been.

The vibe is similar to Pile One but the difference with this pile is that it’s all an act. This person could appear to be “boujee” or “aloof” but don’t knock it until you try it. What if the Stardust Crusaders met the daughter of DIO, who had a bright and extremely sweet personality with a stand who has techomagic abilities (able to create advance technology, extended knowledge in technology). I think I have a grasp of what to write for this ask finally. Darling is still a child of DIO it’s just that makes my title even wordier than it already is. Decided to do one character per bullet point btw

Platonic! Yandere! Stardust Crusaders w/ a technomagic stand darling.

You’re likely a huge help on the technological/engineering side of things for the crusaders. If you met them right at the start of trying to find DIO. Your first observation is probably akin of “Mr. Joestar you know you probably don’t need to break that expensive camera to use your stand right?”. Before long you have it repaired and ready to go, Joseph is wildly impressed and is quickly endeared to you. There is at least also one instance of him asking about fiddling around with a vending machine (for science of course), to maybe get something a little extra.

Avdol can see the trouble coming with you and Mr. Joestar a mile a way. Your eagerness towards technology is commendable and a little worrying if you get too caught up. Which is pretty often, and Joseph tends to be an enabler when it comes to anything he finds cool. He personally loves it himself but does his best to be your guide. He’s the one to most likely sit next to you in whatever transportation you’re in, it’s almost stifling but you barely notice most likely as you keep yourself entertained. There is quite a few times he does let you “loose” to do your thing, just because he enjoys your company so much.

Kakyoin is a bit more reserved in his reactions, the biggest thing that lures him to you is how well you utilize your stand in much of the technology you all run into. If you happen to bring up games out of boredom, his interest is piqued as you likely explain how you fixed a perfectly good console that was thrown in the trash. You tell him some people just don’t understand there’s things worth saving and there’s usually a fix that perfectly restores it. His feelings deepen when you tell him you believe him with the Death 13 fight. His hands are almost shaking, (In this scenario he is very likely to become a romantic yandere pretty quickly)

Polnareff bounces off your personality pretty easily, likes asking you a ton of questions and you manage to answer just about every one of them. He’d just wish you would relax a little bit and enjoy the smallest bit of relaxation (as you can when getting constantly chased by enemy stand users). So he usually nudges you with some kind of treat or even just doing something casually where it doesn’t seem that your brain is running on full power constantly. There’s a dozen times he’s even carrying you up the stairs, you deserve it. You saved his skin so he certainly has to return the favor. (This Frenchman would also be likely to end up a romantic yandere)

Jotaro is one who comes in when things go a little too far, especially if gramps or Polnareff are going what he considers over board, so if he wants to be around you he will find a way to do so. Not that he doesn’t occasionally indulge your tinkering with a little thunk to something with either his strength or Star Platinum’s. He definitely tells you to go to bed when you’re up too late for his liking while on the trip. Don’t ask why or how he got in your room, or even ponder if he was outside of your door guarding you. He can handle himself even if he is a bit hypocritical with some advice. Speaking of he is quick to tell you to lower your use of your stand, keeping it hidden so no potential danger catches everyone off guard. Especially when you’ve helped him out with Wheel of Fortune and Strength. He does let some of his eccentricities out with you and the others when it feels reasonable. But he’s still keeping one eye open at all times when he can.

If anyone’s wondering if there’s any worry about you being the daughter of DIO, I’d like to think Avdol was the one to keep an eye on you for trustworthiness before anything happened. (Even if none of them knew you were his daughter).

What is up with this obsession over the "other half" of Decay. Less so now that Shigaraki is like dead-dead, so I guess it was copium, but still. So Decay was derived from the Overhaul quirk. Okay. It was stripped of the restorative half; then added with the five finger activation and lack of control. By this point, it is its own quirk.

(It's the same with Kurogiri/Shirakumo. Shirakumo's quirk was cloud generation and manipulation; then it got turned into the ability to bend the fabric of space. It's its own quirk at that point.)

I don't see the need for any more connection than that? Decay came from Overhaul - it's an artificial quirk AFO created to be a super dick. That's where Decay came from. It's somewhat fortunate(?) that it wasn't naturally occurring, which means there wasn't some other poor bastard out there who probably also had a tough time with it, but just the fact that it's 'half' the Overhaul quirk makes me wonder if Overhaul didn't at least 'half' a tough time with it as well.

Which btw - the reveal also confirms that AFO and the Doc were also responsible for Overhaul's own early childhood... which no one seems to care about.

Hello??? Shigaraki has to be referred to as groomed and abused and brainwashed every other sentence in order to induce the greatest level of sympathy for him (because apparently otherwise if he ever had any hint of agency or genuine malice at all, fuck him and he's not as much a victim, I guess???), and the orphanage Touya wakes up in has cult vibes where he can't even leave, but Overhaul growing up in such an orphanage is not worthy of attention. Like you gotta wonder how Doc got his hand on Overhaul's quirk - best case scenario it was from a simple blood draw at a routine doctor's check up; worse case scenario is that he was experimenting on these kids, even if subtly.

It's in this orphanage that Overhaul reads about quirks and gets the idea that it's a sickness. Was that somehow from the instruction of the orphanage staff that's under Ujiko's employment? Was it because something happened to Overhaul that caused him to end up in an orphanage? Kid didn't just sprout from the ground - he must have had parents, a family. But here he is, in an orphanage, gloomily reading about quirks while all the other kids are playing outside. Kouta resentfully says quirks are freaky and Deku and the story bends over backwards to prove to him that he's wrong, and violent quirks will save his life, so he should love Heroes; it's obvious that Overhaul hating quirks is a flaw.

Later, it looks like Overhaul would run away from this orphanage too, and then gets picked up by the Yakuza. Luckily it was a very honorable yakuza who treated him with kindness, but listen to that sentence - """"luckily"""" he gets picked up by a nice mobster who raised him. And Overhaul is so affected by this kindness it gives him a devotion that turns twisted. I mean, I think the guy definitely has his own selfish issues, but he really does care about Pops a lot and still thinks of what he's doing as being for Pop's and the Yakuza's sake.

I know no one cares about Overhaul and probably thinks it's even funny he loses his arms and goes half insane in Tartarus, that that's just karma for abusing and medically torturing a little girl, but it's very clear that he didn't start out that way, and if things had been different, he might not have grown up to become a Villain. That's true for nearly all the Villains we see on the story. And that's why there's such a big push to save the League, because of that "if only, if only". They're sympathetic and maybe redeemable.

But unsympathetic and irredeemable villains like Muscular and Overhaul were the best training wheels for Deku to work up to saving Shigaraki. If he can reach out a hand to those freaks, he can do it for not-as-much-a-freak Shigaraki. Even if Deku fails in trying to save Muscular and Overhaul, if he had tried, he could've learned something from those encounters that he could later apply to Shigaraki. But Deku said nope and then crashes when he has to save Shigaraki. Sorry—not even Shigaraki, but the ghost of a Crying Child.

Muscular insists that there's nothing but blood and violence inside of him, so Deku gives up on him because he can't psychically dive into Muscular's head to prove him wrong; later, Shigaraki insists that he overcame the Crying Child and he wants destruction, and fortunately Deku doesn't give up on him, but only because he can psychically dive into Shigaraki's head to prove him wrong - except it's this exact act that brings back AFO and drives the train wreck into the conclusion that is Shigaraki's body crumbling to nothing.

Overhaul begs to see Pops and wants to apologize, demonstrating some tiny broken strand of caring and goodness inside of him, but that's not someone Deku knows or cares about so it means nothing to him except that he can test whether Overhaul is worthy of any measure of forgiveness (and so rewarded by a Pops visit) by apologizing to Eri; later, Shigaraki gets his hatred smashed but stays the leader to the League, and Deku seems flummoxed by this, while using his last words to the guy he wanted to save to yammer on about not forgiving him and ending the cycle of sadness by stopping Shiagarki.

(Plus like. Overhaul has hurt sooooo many people other than Eri. He used and manipulated many of the Shie Hassaikai too. But once again, none of them are people Deku knows or cares about so they don't matter and they don't need an apology.)

This got really off topic because it started out about people focused on the Overhaul-Decay then turned into a Deku rant (only semi-sorry), but. Actually maybe not. People only care about the Overhaul-Decay thing because the Overhaul quirk might bring Shigaraki back, because Shigaraki deserves it; meanwhile the actual holder of the Overhaul quirk is ignored, because Overhaul doesn't deserve any comeback, or anything at all. It's really just people only caring about certain Villains because they personally like them and feel sorry for them. Which is fine! Go have your blorbo.

But like, ironically, caring only about your villain blorbo's situation in the context of the wider story, when discussing the story using the context of abuse and marginalization and who is deserving of saving, is the same as what Deku and Hawks did - singling out one victim out of many as worthy of being saved, and condemning every other Villain. And how did that turn out for Deku and Hawks?

this is my meanie nyx he kinda sucks 😚 he has a scary face and cold demeanor (ive been wanting a mean farmer for a while.. remy was originally supposed to be a scary guy but i poured too much autism awkward and scared swag into him whoops) he lowkey gives sickly vampire whos also sick of everything.

i always interact with the trash cans when i walk past them, right, n i decided that instead of rummaging through them. nyx just. kicks them. hes a petty pathetic fucker ok.

he's gonna have so many dinosaurs one day. his second one is on the way atm. man fished up a dino egg n his whole life shifted trajectory. his first dino is named neo btw. he has a black cat named nyponsoppa n a horse named laurel. he got another pet bowl set up but then choked at the price of actually getting another one.

he nearly cried at the fair after losing a lot of tokens to that dumb wheel goddammit. he nearly stayed a few extra hours to see how many tokens he could get and to glare at the guy running the stall, if you can even call it that. he did win the grange display but he gambled and lost all those tokens.....

my plan for the future is to get krobus to move in,,,,, and for the two of them to have many dinos.

If anyone wants to write a character with double pneumonia, I can add some stuff from the godawful experience from a few years back.

Experience for others may differ, they can add in the comments/own reblogs, but it felt like a slow exhaustion and chesty cold that snuck up over a few weeks. you think you're just tired, but then you get headaches and can't sleep, and then the cough creeps in.

It's subtle to start, but eventually you hit a point where it feels like you did 100 sit ups out of nowhere and coughing Aches. And then it gets Wet in there.

The sore throat was bad, lasted way longer than you thought and the problem was that no water quenched it, but it also irritated your chest. A fun wet chesty cough could trigger at any time.

[I've had pharyngitis, which was a horrific sore throat and loss of voice for weeks. Trust me when I say, Pneumonia sore throat, one of the worst ever. You can lose your voice and its infuriating. I can safely say Covid was easier than double pneumonia.]

Your eyes and nose run, its so bad that at least for me, the entire ski around my eyes and nose were bruised. The constant damage of the liquid, the wiping, the raw skin that got worse, turned into bruising.

The weeping just never stopped, it was miserable. And the cough would trigger the weeping, the weeping/tickling runny nonsense would trigger the cough.

You were so FUCKING cold the whole time, you'd be in multiple layers and sweating through them.

And you think, this is a bad cold, right?

It's easy to dismiss as something you got from a kid that maybe sneezed on you. It happens.

The part you start to notice something's up is when sleep stops. Oh sleep disturbances are a thing, when you have a cold. Hard to breathe, achey bones and restless energy, etc. All normal.

But then you start to find it's hard to breathe.

It starts small. You might wake up disoriented more, often coughing harshly, feel phlegm deep in your throat, in your chest.

You can try sleeping propped up, but it only helps so much.

Food makes you want to either throw up or die, and then suddenly the hunger stops. Which is a whole Other problem. Because you lose energy fast.

Time gets a bit fucky around here. The body tries its best to heal by going 'just lay here for 8 hours' but it feels like 20 minutes, or vice versa. You're tired but the breathing issue impacts your ability to sleep even if you go full yoga master or twister champion to find The Position where you can get 5 mins sleep.

You get dizzy and vague and there is Brain Fog ++++.

Time has no meaning whatsoever for you then, it's like being locked into the moment, and it is suffering. Which seems dramatic until you're in it.

Sometimes the bruising around your eyes and nose is so profound the skin cracks, you end up with physical injuries. I think of it as the waterfall effect because it sounded better than snot saw, the constant liquid erodes your skin away until there are bloody furrows in some locations. That hurts like a bitch btw and nothing soothes it for long.

Words, thoughts, its all exhausting. And, at least for me when I get sick, there's a restless energy attached that makes you desperate to Do Something but unable to really settle or focus or think more than a few minutes at a time. I swear I wrote a fic or two in five minute bursts over random periods of time

You can get migraines, and the temperature seems to be playing Wheel of Fortune because you CANNOT cool off or warm up.

Then, my least favourite part... the iceburgs.

Whatever the hell is happening in your chest crescendos. Every single breath, your lungs creak and rumble and feel / sound like two huge icebergs rubbing up against one another on every inhale and exhale. It's honestly the most horrifying thing to experience, you start to question if others can hear it. And you can't do anything to blot it out because it's coming from inside the house.

It took 8 hours of not really breathing in a hospital emergency dept with like one other person there, to be seen. But they give you the nuclear warhead version of antibiotics, GPs could issue them too.

It can take weeks to have improvement, you also have to deal with side effects of antibiotics that strong (some people throw up, have diarrhoea, restlessness, inability to eat/nausea, etc). And despite your (or the character's) status as an independent person, having another person to help and bring food you can barely eat, was a game changer. To fight you for the eighth blanket you just snuck onto yourself because you're a degree away from cooking yourself alive... etc.

I was lucky enough that I called family like "I have double pneumonia" and had immediate support, but that was weeks into it. Thought it was a cold, right?

The fun thing about Pneumonia or its subsidiaries, is that once the symptoms finally fuck right off, you still feel OFF for up to like 6-12 months after. If you have a low immune system, or you're older, or it was a double-whammy with another illness/injury, it can take way longer.

And that's for people taking care of themselves, not pushing too hard, listening to their constraints. If perhaps they're in a hard job, or have commitments, or are punished for having time off unwell even though it was out of their control... the timeline for bouncing back is delayed.

I see people use colds a lot for their fics, and yes it's certainly an illness, but they really have to stretch it to justify why A (or A and C if ot3) are still hovering over B when the symptoms are gone and they're well.

Here, have a fucking nightmare of an experience that will absolutely justify people intervening to help, fretting, hovering, and finding ways to assist and take the load later on. Keeping an eye to ensure no one overwhelms themselves and ends up sick again. The paranoia of hearing them cough or express coldlike symptoms again...

As the wheel turns and changes, so will his opinion of her. He'll grow fond of her VERY quickly and view her as a younger sister. V/Taehyung : *8 of Pentacles Reversed* - He'll feel like she's very emotionally out of touch and like she has no focus/direction as to where she wants to go in life. He'll feel like she's looking for change and will be worried that she doesn't love Jungkook and is only with him because she doesn't know what she's doing. More importantly, he's worried that the 2 of them will get caught by the media as they'll both be in the beginning stages of the relationship and love tends to grow quickly during this period. However, his worries will be cooled quickly by Jk's FS and he'll soon become close friends with her. Okay starting w the setting question - I have no clue. Probably from Paris because I find it impossible to separate miraculous from Paris in my head, like the way the set of the city works in the show is perfect for the aesthetic compared to cities elsewhere

And idk yet, I know for a fact that Alejandro and Gwen know the identities of all the secondary heroes outside of Heather - she's a unique case because she found the bee miraculous after it got lost before it could be given out (just like chloe in the og show did)((Heather did not reveal her identity because as soon as she realised it was a miraculous it became an advantage and therefore something that should be a secret)) however, Alejandro does not like having less information so one fight he avoids using his cataclysm and secretly follows her hntil she detransforms - he doesn't tell Miss Fortune but now he's got the identities of all the "secondary" heroes (brackets around secondary because as soon as they get their miraculous permanently they're main heroes in my head, it's just their miraculous are in the secondary wheel of the miracle box and then the like chicken and shit are in the tertiary wheel) -> Also! Alejandro finds out Heather's identity after they began getting close as heroes, so any of their academic rivals bias couldn't interfere since he's already softened to her abrasive personality

I think after a year of being holders Gwen and Alejandro trade identities because one fight nearly went horribly wrong due to identity shenanigans and they realised not knowing could get them in deep shit -> it is also this moment wherein he tells Gwen Heather's identity too as an "all facts on the board" moment of trust, he's actively giving up the information advantage showing that he trusts her not to turn it around on him or make him redundant (he's overcoming his fear of being replacable look at him go)

As for the gc idea, I love it and am making it canon but via burner accounts so they all use their hero names/identities (there are 2 gcs, one with the core ground of Alejandro, Gwen, Sierra, Courtney and Heather and then a much larger one w the rest of the hero cast)

Those burner accounts are probably how the heroes become mildly popular online (bcuz I'm a suckered for social media au's they're consistently so silly and funny just like chat fics)

I imagine the core gc has the stupidest nicknames too like Gwens being "Emo bug" or smt like that. Courtney sets Alejandros as "Faux Feline" (as a way to call him a fake bitch, because their friendship like that™️) and gets called "Forgotten Ninja Turtle" in vengence

It's been rough icl. We've been managing a shit ton but we've been managing. Somehow. We're coping even with the emergence of another teen part who was after Amara and her name is Chidera. The amount of memories that have surfaced has been brutal but necessary for collecting memories for the whole police process... which now includes our mother. Are we scared? Yeah. Terrified. This is absolutely horrifying but this doesn’t get to just stay with us. We don't deserve to just sit in this pain alone and everyone else gets to walk free or unharmed. I'm not protecting this woman with my silence anymore. So we've been building our case against both of them one step at a time. One breath at a time.

I've been holding our teen parts as they show me the horrors and show me their fears. It's heartbreaking. It's another thing that was a lot worse than I thought but I also know I still haven't even remembered it all.

A few weeks ago a part decided to drive past where prison guy lived to see if they remembered anything... which is a terrible idea. Don't do that btw! Anyway, they nearly crashed twice going into flop in front of the wheel with a sudden splitting migraine. It took every protective part jumping into the front at once to get us out of that situation and then getting home with multiple breaks and doing 50 in a 70 motorway in the slow lane. That said enough. We got home and couldn't even hold onto anything... it was pure dissociated terror and pain and even after double prn we struggled to get into our own safe bed. It's been a lot.

One thing I can say? Even when parts have harmful behaviours or carry pain in a way we haven't seen before our system loves each other. It may not always look like it but everything each part has done has been to get us through or out of harmful situations. I used to think we had parts that punished us but we actually don't, parts just don't always know how to manage the amount of pain they carry. And... I know how fortunate I am to not have harmful parts or parts that punish us for speaking out. It doesn't mean all parts easily let us, a lot of the time we have to sit with them and listen to their fears and reassure them. That's part of the process too. But if anything this has deepened my love for our system so much. Seeing how we've coped, seeing how and why parts were created and what they did to protect us has torn me to shreds but also deepened my love for them. Even in the horrors.
