It's the Jonathan Harker effect.

I.e., a reflexive response from adaptation and spinoff creators who have actually been made aware of all the facets Jonathan Harker--or in this case, his doppelganger Thomas Hutter--possesses within the canon of the novel Dracula/the original Nosferatu and immediately get a bug up their butt about how much he encompasses of what makes them uncomfortable.

Jonathan Harker is a damsel in distress.

Jonathan Harker is kind and not classically manly beside a backdrop of more standard masculinity.

Jonathan Harker is preyed upon in an intimate way by the dark and powerful male Villain, the latter having supernatural ability and desire to collect an undead harem/partners against their will.

Jonathan Harker was left ill and disabled after his escape and so showed weakness, needing aid from others, relying on women (ugh) like the nuns and Mina before he could heal and move forward.

Jonathan Harker loves, cherishes, and worships his wife more than anything, wanting her to take the lead. Without her actions and sacrifice, the Villain would never have been defeated, which he highlights at the close of the novel, just as the Nosferatu iteration must take the lead in ending the film's Villain.

Jonathan Harker, polite little nobody that he is, is the one to transform himself into a Thing That Terrifies the Masculine Conquering Power Fantasy Villain. He sends his former abuser and predator running like a coward into the streets, himself giving chase to kill him in public. It is his knife that lops off the Villain's head while he hides in the dirt after Mina arranged the hunt--tastefully aligned with Nosferatu via Ellen (Mina) fully realizing the martyr role and sacrificing her life not out of amorous want of the Villain, but out of a desire to protect her husband and the town, taking on a masculine role in her own right by making the fatal sacrificial play.

In short: Jonathan-Thomas is a victim. He is antithetical to every macho babe-collecting ooh hoo hoo look at my cool-powered masculine conqueror metaphor that exists within the Dracula-Orlok figure. Jonathan-Thomas is naturally more endearing, blithe, and sweet than the common male hero and follows that by being forced into a traditionally female role as the preyed-upon and imprisoned damsel.

His mere existence throws the Mina-Ellen figure into even brighter contrasted spotlight, where she manages to wholly subvert the expected Man Villain seeks Pretty Girl to Ravish format. Mina-Ellen turns it on its head, making herself into the weapon by which the Villain is defeated, rather than leaving every point of planning and action and sacrifice to a male rescuer. This she does to aid and/or rescue her husband, the actual damsel, and humanity at large.

In the book, Jonathan the Damsel turns the tables with Mina's impetus and guidance, and ultimately slaughters Dracula, who they terrified into running home to hide and skulk.

In the film, Thomas the Damsel's plight spurs Ellen into action, making plans and taking heroic steps all on her own to destroy Orlok when she baits him with her offered blood, leaving Thomas to grieve and weep for her, tragically spared from his attempt to take on Orlok himself.

And male directors and writers like Eggers, along with so so So many before him, absolutely fucking hate that shit. It spoils the whole premise for them. Because Jonathan-Thomas is ruining their vibe, the limping simping little milksop Victorian era soyboy that he is. How does he get to kill their bestie bodypillow stand-in, Dracula, or let the Girl One take charge in Nosferatu to put down Orlok?? Bullshit!

Kick him out, kick him down, and make sure Girl One ditches his lame unmanly ass to bounce on that vampire dick that we all know she reeeally wants, lol

Helluva Boss Rewrite (WIP)

Disclaimer: I have no harsh intentions regarding rewriting HB. This is just some headcanons coming from an ex fan who is currently a critic of the show.

The Lore

Hellaverse rewritten lore gonna be based on the worldbuilding of John Wick and Good Omens (Helluva is action oriented)

The concept of human sinners being Overlords doesn’t exist in the rewrite but Hellborns can be Overlords.

Hellborns (like Imps, Succubi and Hellhounds) are middle class, Goetians are upper class (aristocracy/nobility) and the Seven Deadly Rulers are higher and more respected than Goetians despite some of them are Goetians (e.g. Asmodeus)

The imps are the soldier class in Hell’s system and known for their various combat skills

The succubi and incubi are used seduction as a form of distraction for the target

Hellhounds’ appearance are similar to werewolves but they can shapeshift to a literal canine

Hellborns usually age slowly, resistant to fire and wouldn’t be eradicated by gunshot unless if they’re in contact with Holy water

Holy water is fatal for Hellborns but they’re used to make fuel for deadly weapons

The Characters

Soul Trading Department

Instead of being an assassins for trade, the IMP is part of Stolas’ legions where they’re responsible for targeting souls for Stolas’ soul for trade

Lyra's usual Keyblades are Starlight (all-purpose), Counterpoint (magic), Sleeping Lion (speed), and Fenrir (power). After ux/ml era she uses either Starlight or Aubade. I also have a new Keyblade idea for her called Mourning Star, which is a color variant of Aubade that formchanges into dual wield swords and then a double-bladed sword.

(I chose Aubade because 1. its my fav Keyblade, and 2. the name is a song about lovers parting at dawn [very applicable for skulmerayer]. Aubade also symbolizes both the pain of separation and light phenomena, which why I chose the name Mourning Star)

When anyone asks about my ocs/sonas my love for them grows ten times bigger 🫶

1. Cassana Bolton weirdest little freak ever. She is such a sweet and gentle girl but no one ever knows what the fuck she’s talking about. Got Autism On Lock even when she’s not speaking in prophecies and riddles. In my made up Westeros Roose is father of the year to her actually, he’s #1 Girl Dad and she idolizes him bc we love healthy father daughter relations here. Her prophecies come to her randomly and usually come true (catch it Melisandre) even if they are hard to decipher. People come to her from all over asking for their fortunes and fates, and they usually leave confused. One time she met a trader from Pentos and told him his future so he gave her a Little Valyrian as payment so now she just has a lemur on her wherever she goes. Roose brings her along when the war starts, and she gives Robb cryptic advice which he takes seriously bc he respects weird women, and Cat thinks she’s like a strange little pet (affectionate). She has a vision of the red wedding but Roose makes her keep it to herself and she kinda starts to slip a bit after that whoops

2. Magda Baratheon my most beloved. Youngest sister of the Baratheon bros just push the whole “finding Rhaegar a wife in Essos” scenario a few years. Bold and stubborn and classically Baratheon hard headed with a sharp whit and sharper tongue to cover up her Loneliness 💔😔 raised in the Red Keep after Robert took the throne but never really had any sort of parental figures. Robert didn’t care enough to raise her, Stannis was more like a strict and distant uncle who just made sure she was being properly primed for an eventual marriage, and Renly only thought about her occasionally, coming and giving her gifts and some attention before getting bored. Became very sociable to make up for this. Runs the red keep insane with her clique of other noble sons and daughters and all their youthful shenanigans (along with her three giant hounds she named after the conquerors dragons). She drives Cersei up the fucking wall but Tyrion thinks she’s the best. After the events of GOT, she goes to Renly but after he gets murked Stannis comes to take custody of her, eventually selling her north for a marriage alliance. Despises her husband, but he takes the threats beyond the wall seriously, and supplies men and arms, leading them to spend most of their time practically living there. She has to give birth at the fucking wall TWICE and they’re both daughters so her husband doesn’t really gaf. However Snow Patrol become her good friends and are the Fathers Who Stepped Up. Also I have a fucked up idea where something tragic happens and one of her daughters dies and she realizes it’s her husbands fault but he is just like we can have another kid and she goes batshit and stabs him before RIPPING HIS FUCKING THROAT OUT WITH HER TEETH because I just like the image of this lone, feral mother with blood dripping down her face like an animal as she kneels over the corpse of her husband while a bunch of nights watch men surround her in horror

3. Omg please don’t apologize for your answer to my genderbent ask!! I’ll admit that as a fellow butch it is really getting to me like…you get it. 

I also don’t really interact with a lot of lesbian media because it’s so sterilized. So often it seems that whoever wrote it was like sure we can have two women hold hands or peck on the lips as long as they’re feminine! As long as they don’t come off as *that* kind of lesbian. Butchness and lesbian masculinity are so often treated as dirty or not taken seriously which is really hurtful! 

And I completely agree that a lot of genderswaps rely so much on hyperfeminity. Slap a pair of boobs on a male character and give him long hair and make up and a feminine name like dude that’s a whole other character now 😭 (and I have to say that I hate it when characters are given silly versions of their names just to make it girlier like c’mon women with masculine/traditionally men names are hot!!)

Maybe it’s just me being butch4butch and projecting but butch!Daniel hits so hard for me like she is literally just canon Daniel to me but afab and how that would change her narrative. I oscillate so often on how I think Armand would be particularly because of his relationship with gender in the books. He’s androgynous but is that just because he didn’t fully mature? I feel like a lot of women are done growing by their late teens so would genderbent Armand be taller or have a different build because of that? It’s so fun to think about and I think she would play a lot with presentation in the 80s and be having gender talks along with the philosophical discussions with Daniel in that era.

Long story short I really love the gender aspect of genderswaps and masc women are so hot and like that is the appeal for me especially since we don’t get a lot of that! I really hope that it doesn’t seem like I’m talking over you or like pressuring you to write anything but I really connected with your response and if it’s something that you’re comfortable with I would really love to hear the angles that you’re thinking of!! <3

But exactly, either everything is sanitized ('aw lesbians love picnics and frogs and holding hands in their cottage core dresses!!') or the hyper femininity fetishized. Like I said in my tags, taking a cis man and making him a cis man who doesn't conform to gender stereotypes is no less of a gender swap. But like...society doesn't acknowledge butch/masc/studs, much less acknowledge that we can be attractive.

And YEAH like Daniel did so much solo travel, so much entering of spaces that might not be totally safe for a femme woman alone in the 70s so presenting more masc might be a safety net in a way. And like imagine Armand hearing this soft woman's voice on the tapes when entering Lestat's house but turning the corner and seeing someone like this-

Like!!! Wow!!! Or even with an androgynous masculine shag like-

And when Louis and Armand were together there's a big question of how much they were out in the world vs how Louis' grief kept them from fully entering and enjoying mortal spaces. So like Armand seeing women playing more with gender via clothing, the evolution of pants becoming acceptable for women to wear- would Armand have already embraced that, or by meeting Daniel would she feel free to play around with androgyny and masculine fashion more? I like to think it would be the latter, because their time together was such a period of exploration!

And you can also get into concept of being Other, with Daniel able to relate some way to Armand being othered as a vampire where she is othered as a gnc woman. There's just a lot to play with imo

Just saw an impossibly bad take, so to balance that out: in the past you mentioned a story where Tim comes out as a trans woman, what would that look like for you? Do you have any thoughts on making that into a fic?

I've had a lot of scattered thoughts about it but never been able to pin down any scenes concrete enough to turn them into an actual fic. But I love trans!Tim stories whether he's trans fem or trans masc so I've tossed the idea around here and there. Gonna be a little fluid with the pronouns here as Tim's thought process evolves but the basic idea here was:

The seed of the idea would get planted in Tim's mind just before War Games, specifically the one and only time he sees a picture of Steph as Robin. Along with the hurt and anger he expected, there's emotions he doesn't understand, a feeling of longing, jealousy, and desire; not for Steph herself, but for the way she looks in her new costume. For months he's been asking himself, "What do I want, for me?" and now the answer is staring him in the face: This.

But he keeps pushing it aside because there's always something "more important" going on. Worse, as things start to fall apart around him and he loses first Steph, then his dad, and then Kon, the musings about his gender keep getting mixed up in his feelings for other people, especially Kon.

Basically, take all the angst and pain of that era and make it even worse with disphoria and Tim being deep in both denial and the closet and feeling completely unable to open up to anyone about it because of how much it scares him to want something, something she feels like she can't have. Things like him not knowing if he's attracted to Cassie or if he wants to be Cassie, wishes his body looked and moved like that while still having so much strength and power. Fantasizing about how things might've been different between him and Kon, or him and Dick, or him and Damian, if only he'd been born a girl. Falling asleep in the cloning lab and having a nightmare about miscarrying Kon's child, then waking up to find the most recent clone has failed.

Through all that, the only person who has even a hint of what's going on is Cass. She reads it in Tim's body language while they're in Bludhaven together, but understands his fears and lets him keep his confidence. Even after things go to shit for her, she keeps that secret; even brainwashing couldn't get it out of her.

Then Final Crisis happens. Bruce "dies," Dick becomes Batman, Damian becomes Robin. Tim finds himself adrift, with nothing but this crazy-sounding notion of Bruce's survival to his name, and runs away from the Manor...

And this is part of where I stumble because I don't know if it'd be better for Tim to run into Cass at this point or for her to leave him her Batgirl costume and a letter. One way or another, Cass leaves Tim Batgirl, and that's the push she finally needs to crack her egg and start pursing a transition, socially and medically.

She avoids Babs for a few weeks out of shyness and embarrassment until Oracle manages to track this mysterious new Batgirl down, but once confronted she comes clean and Babs is instantly onboard to support her and also keep Dick and Damian out of the loop.

Dick thinks his little brother skipped town and is both confused and a little hurt that Babs won't trust him with the new Batgirl's identity. Damian takes it as a personal insult and starts going out of his way to find and harass said new Batgirl but then she kicks his ass and it turns out Damian shares Bruce's taste in women so now whoops he's got a puppy crush, which everyone who knows the truth about Tim finds hilarious.

Cass one way or another winds up being the one who goes on Brucequest instead of Tim and follows similar beats as Red Robin, minus Tam Fox or losing her spleen. Speaking of Tam, she has a much easier time finding Tim because while her dad does call her home from Russia to help with the investigation at least she doesn't have to globe-trot or get kidnapped by ninjas, she just has to hunt him down in Gotham, possibly while accidentally allied with Vicki Vale.

Tim enrolls in college under Caroline Hill's name and mostly attends to practice passing in public and live out some normal girl fantasies. Kon, Cassie, and Bart all learn what's up even though she's still taking a break from the Titans and of course they're on board and supportive.

And... yeah, that's pretty much the extent of my ideas so far. Broad scope but not a lot concrete to latch onto, which makes it difficult to convert into a fic, but I do love the concept.

One of my tags for that story was "Coryo thinks she is a queen bee but she is a loser," and I think that sums up part of why is a funny story. It's basically snowjanus but now they're toxic yuri <3 and there's something about Fem Coriolanus getting stupid every time she remembers Fem Sejanus has boobs and Fem Sejanus being a completely delusional lesbian who's sure Coryo somehow is her masc prince charming to the rescue that got me (they are LOSERS, THEY ARE CRINGE 😭😭😭 I consider mention She's pretty too but honestly except for Coriolanus, there aren't many laughs in that one bc Lyssie and Sejanus plots are not funny but sad...

Trepanation. In specific the second chapter that talk about one of the saddest characters in all the franchise to me: Ma Plinth after Sejanus die.

Little does Vesta know, her gentleness will be rewarded when Coriolanus confesses to her that night that he killed Sejanus.

Anxious for someone to discover the truth. For someone to understand that he is worthy of forgiveness and compassion because he never had any other choice but to destroy Sejanus, otherwise he would not have been able to go on living and his life was worth it, wasn't it?

The only thing Vesta discovers that night is that Coriolanus is a child who believes his own lies.

I simply adore think about POST TBOSAS era, especially when it come to the Plinth Family and their grief and how Coriolanus and Tigris impact that. I have many ideas about how it go and Trepanation in theory was made for that and Coriolanus & Ma simply broke me.

I dont think they will get along at all. In specific Vesta would clock so fast theres something off with Coriolanus "grief." 26. Which fic do you think is your scariest? This was a tricky question because I don't really think I have any scary fic in TBOSAS you know? At least not yet. There are some ideas but I don't really consider any of my fics to be scary at all. The closest I can maaaaaybe mention are the ones I did for Laboratory au (when I'm out of faith, he's my idol & when he on me, I don't feel so lonely) but honestly I feel from the first you can be more disgusted than scary bc Coriolanus is disgusting, and the second with Sejanus I feel is more sad, is sad the situation). Another option that maybe can be valid is Sleepwalker were I basically describe in detail a sleep paralaysis episode and there's mention of a dead men hauting his murder.

Relta “The Phoenix Queen” Headcanons: Her Kingdom [World Building - Part I]

Note: Relta’s kingdom isn’t equatable to any specific historical nation/kingdom from Medieval times, and more simply fits a formula from that era that may resemble a variety of kingdoms of that era.

Her kingdom is historically a patriarchy, with Relta being the first crown princess/heir with no provisions requiring her to marry, except for the requirement of an heir in her dynasty. This falls to her little, half-sister’s eldest son when he is born in the future as Relta does not plan to wed.

The monarch, rather than dying to leave the throne, steps down and resigns from the position and power at when they appear to be in their late 60s, being of elongated lifespans of an equivalent to 270 human years and ascending to their primary pantheon’s afterlife then.

The current dynasty, to which Relta is the heir, stems from a union of the Celtic Goddess Macha, and the Hellenic God Ares that produced a child that eventually fell in love with a mortal. As a gift to woo them, the mixed-pantheon god created a forest covered island that would become what is Relta’s kingdom and home.

Due to the mix of pantheons that created the kingdom, religion is very mixed across the island, with polytheism being predominant regardless of which deities are worshipped. All belief systems, however, include Queen Macha and Lord Ares in their worship.

The alphabet used by the people of Relta’s homeland is universally used across the island, resembling the Ancient Greek alphabet mixed with the Elder Futhark runes of Ancient Norse, due to early invasions by the Ancient Norse people and spreading of their culture via trade after the brief invasions ended. The alphabet contains 30 “letters” that represent sounds primarily, and concepts when merged in form.

The island is to the West of a large kingdom with geography resembling Northern Russia, with the winters being harsh. This makes Relta’s kingdom a hot spot for both immigrants and tourists from this other kingdom. The kingdom is allied with their frosty neighbor.

Her kingdom’s ancient name is Lunauruz, being a merging of the terms “Luna” and “Uruz” from Latin and the Elder Futhark runes respectively. However, bastardization of the kingdom’s name has caused it to be called “Lunaruz” by the medieval ages of the kingdom.

On the royal crest of the kingdom, there is a thorny rose going through a depiction of the actual royal crown, asking to the Ace of Swords, with crescent moons on either side of the crown.

Despite being a patriarchal society, the offspring take the mother’s surname and pass that on. For same-sex couples, it is either hyphenated if two femme folks, or the elder husband’s mother’s surname if two masc folks.

The heir to the throne goes through a ritual similar to a baptism when they are thirteen/hit puberty. As a celebration of their survival and fertility, they are bathed in water blessed by both monarchs at the time - honoring both Queen Macha and Lord Ares by representing them in the ritual. Only the crown of the head is bathed in water, down to where the third eye would be, symbolizing Queen Macha and Lord Ares cleansing it of any blockages.

Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and other monotheistic religions/belief systems along with atheism are accepted and welcomed across the nation, as long as there aren’t Christian missionaries trying to convert the local pagans.

Lady Brigid, the Celtic Goddess, is the third most popular deity tied with Lady Aphrodite from the Hellenic pantheon.

The current royal dynasty primarily worships: Lord Ares, Queen Macha, Lady Aphrodite, Lady Aine, Lady Athena, and the An Morrigain.

Relta personally also worships some Ancient Norse deities, including Freyja and Queen Frigg.

Femme identifying folks are conventionally supposed to worship Lord Ares, Queen Macha, and only femme deities, and masc folks are conventionally only supposed to worship Queen Macha, Lord Ares, and masc deities. This isn’t enforced by Relta’s lifetime, and she takes it off the law books during her reign.

All gender identities are accepted and acknowledged as valid. They/them pronouns are common, and marriages are arranged typically based on a mix of politics and pheromone type attraction. Relta abolished arranged marriages at the end of her own reign.

views on Frigga?

hilariously enough i was just thinking about some of this today, so good timing, nonny! and my answer is that this is actually a sorta complicated question!

firstly, there used to be (and i guess probably still is in some circles) a trend to consider her a perfect mom who did nothing wrong ever or even to call Loki a mama's boy, and i have never been on board with that. She is undoubtedly the kinder, more loving parent in comparison to Odin... but that's a pretty low bar, ya know? She made plenty mistakes as well---going along with many of Odin's terrible ideas, for one, but also some pretty significant errors of judgment and perception of her own (like not realizing that Loki was quietly having a breakdown and instead handing him Gungnir and telling him to make dad proud---like okay, he was hiding it well but that's her kid, gosh she clearly knows him real well not to realize he might not be 100% okay five minutes after that revelation and might need some support!), plus various manipulative tactics, willful blindness to problems, and so on.

Re the "mama's boy" assertion, I have also always been particularly struck by the fact that Loki does not seem very close to or trusting of her even before he learns that she also hid the truth of his origins from him, and my sort of headcanon is that while she spent more time with Loki when he was younger and she tried to balance out Odin's obvious favoritism by doing things like teaching him her magic... he would have ended up being pretty ambivalent about this as a consolation prize: this special thing she taught him was also what got him teased, called weak and deceitful, so he would suddenly be put in a very tricky spot. He can't reject it or disavow it, because it's this special thing his mom taught him (and which he also genuinely enjoys and appreciates), and he'd resent her a little for putting him in that position and even more for not realizing that it was going to cause problems for him, and he wouldn't be able to confide in her about any of these issues without insulting her or causing a fight with the parent who does clearly care about him but also seems more concerned with keeping the peace in the family. (see also the essay i haven't written about the many things that make loki such an especially relatable character to trans masc folks.) So what was originally an attempt at helping him ends up being the cause of a wall of silence between them and him having to keep his feelings secret. Which seems to have become status quo when we see them in Thor 1.

On the other hand, there is also a trend that I think goes a little too far in the other direction, of considering her a completely terrible parent and that any reasonable person could have done better... because, I mean, for one, if she were a perfect parent, there would basically be no story there. From a story-external perspective, if Loki trusted her and were able to just go to Frigga for help and if she were able to simply give good guidance and solve the problem, Thor 1 would be a very short and boring movie, or at least a very different one, and I'm glad we got Loki having a complete breakdown instead. (I feel like any fic writer who's written Thor 1 era canon-compliant fic has had to solve the problem of "where the hell is Frigga and why is she not even noticing this nonsense"). So with that in mind, I'm willing to chalk it up to royalty, too busy to parent, assumes things are fine if the sky isn't falling sort of human-normal imperfection, which happened to be just tragically wrong for the circumstances and personalities involved. And I like how friggin' real some of her mistakes are. Her manipulative attempts to "reason with" Loki in his cell hit... really close to home for me, and that is absolutely the sort of thing that people who are well-meaning and generally moderately okay parents do that absolutely fucks up their kids.

On yet another hand, her being fridged in TDW was lazy af and the movie would have worked just as well if she'd been not-quite-mortally wounded and the boys had to go get vengeance for that. (iirc this was a point originally made by @gorgeousgalatea?) And Loki did suffer a similar injury and survive, after all. Fridging Frigga, pantsless Selvig, and sea bass are the movie's only flaws.

And ok I realize this response is largely angled toward Frigga in terms of her relationship with Loki, but alas that is a lot of the context we have for her, and it's probably a long enough answer at this point. Frigga's C+ parenting. Something like that.

Vesaseh “Vesa” Rumrraahk

She’s one of my favorites! Vesa is the one who can pick up Crosshair and swing him around no problem. She’s not as strong as Wrecker, but she’s pretty buff!

Maddulis “Madds” Thellil

This character is actually largely based on a real life friend of mine, especially in appearance. Some facts about Madds:

im gonna brag about her name because i put a lot of thought into it. No idea what world/language it comes from, but it comes from an ancient masc name “Addu” meaning gentle, and “lis” roughly meaning the one/that one/that person. So her name means “gentle one”

she once beat Crosshair in a sniping competition. It was purely on luck and a technicality, but she’ll never let him live it down

was planning on joining the army prior to the war (but got turned away)

married her best friend for tax benefits and financial aid reasons

can get along with anyone. she’s super nice and she’s a social butterfly

somehow earned enough of Hunter’s trust to braid his hair. She’s gotten a lot of practice with curly hair through Hunter!

learned to shoot from her dad and ex-boyfriends

Kezrayth Thellil

No but seriously, Kez is very much my indulgent self-insert character. He allows me to explore my trauma/fears/thoughts/emotions and also date Tech.

Autistic/ADHD! Hunter once called him a “half-baked Tech” but Kez argued that would also make him a half-baked Hunter, seeing as he’s also light/sound/smell sensitive

designated driver. Kez doesn’t drink (sober at least a year now!) but doesn’t mind being in a bar or around alcohol

somehow manages his way in the criminal underworld. but he’s still a total softie; he usually apologizes to droids when he has to shoot them

cannot shoot. Madds is a sharpshooter, but Kez has terrible eyesight and needs to be pretty close in order to get a good hit. He still prefers blasters over knives, though

he’s the one that proposed to Madds that they get married for financial aid. he also made their rings

Zuli Zarcana

Originally I wasn’t basing Zuli off of anyone, but now... yeah. she’s based slightly on another friend of mine, mostly in how laid-back and artsy she is:

the term “Jack Rat” is one they coined themselves, similar to how the Bad Batch chose theirs. They got called rats as an insult, and mixed it with Jack of All Trades, since their work is so mixed and varied. Jack Rats!

their ship is a light cargo freighter. It’s livable, too. It’s called the Brick Szarlotka, or just Szarlotka, after a dessert from Madds and Kez’s home. (szarlotka is actually a kind of Polish apple pie, but we don’t have Poland in space)

neither Madds or Kez are actually fully trained to be medics. In fact, prior to the war, they probably wouldn’t be allowed to serve because of their mental illnesses, but desperate times call for desperate measures

they each know enough sign language to manage a non-verbal Kez. Kez knows the whole language, and Madds is the second best since she’s known him so long

they usually have at least one small stuffed animal/tooka doll with them. No one knows where they keep getting all their toys, but they’re always giving them to refugee children and will even use them to comfort clones. Wrecker’s favorite is a stuffed animal named Frinnigan who roars when you squeeze him

they’re all down for committing crimes. a lot of theft. (Vesa and Zuli are the most reluctant/nervous)

Cronus Ampora lives in the dream bubbles, his hive resembling a human house. He once held a large belief in magic, wanting to grow up to become a wizarding savior. However, vague shenanigans ceased his beliefs and changed him into who we know him now as in the afterlife. At first glance he's a quippy jerkass with interesting humor. In time though, he’s been opening up and softening his brash, attention-seeking persona; a little less offensive and instead willing, wanting, to make friends at the least. Though with reputation as an Ampora this can prove difficult along, side his irrational responses, grudges, and quick defensive retorts.

[BEHAVIOR]

He use to be brash, pushy, and self-obsessed upon introduction; this was somewhat influenced by stagnant maturity during the game. Now he is the equivalent of someone who is hot headed when at least provoked, and sometimes when he has a strong opinion, which he is more than happy to share; depending on the severity of a conflict, he may hold grudges. Often his flirtatious nature is for sport, though he use to be more willing to offer pale nights with those who's stress he could sympathize with. 

His mood vary from humorous and friendly to self-loathing and jaded. He lives up to his aspect by throwing his hope too quickly at something only for it to be destroyed. Four of Cronus' strongest plights usually involves his loneliness, lack of stable relationships, body dysphoria, and PTSD. He tends to stress eat when anxious. A lot of this stems from him trying to make a good impression for others so he isn’t pushed away from social connections and worth of his peers. In worse situations, he can become heated and critical of those around him.

Cronus's redemption period and interest in quadrants has evolved into two opinions he is incredibly strong about: Alternate-self stereotyping and toxic quadrants. Often times he will point out when he sees a bad showcasing of either, sometimes of good intentions, and sometimes from projection.

Over time, Cronus has still kept up artistic interests. He likes making music (primarily with the guitar and flute), alchemizing clothes for DIY projects, and making food to share.

[TIMELINE]

Not much is known about Cronus' past, outside of what is usually known from other alternates of himself. Aranea Serket spoke of rumors that he had been attacked by an evil wizard at a young age, and split said wizard into many vessels prior to being left only a distinct scar. This left him with a strong belief in magic and that they were destined to fight in the future. 

Cronus lived on Beforus prior to SGRUB, and was convinced by a recent runaway Meenah Peixes to play. After three sweeps of failed progress and Damara Megido's eventual meltdown, he and the rest of his team were blown up by Meenah's bomb and thus entered the dream bubbles.

There are a few things unique to his past. For one, his love of magic in the public eye of Beforus had him at the risk of being culled by the Empress herself. In the events of the game, he was Meulin Leijon's server player, and climbed a fair amount of tiers on the eceladder. During Damara's rampage, her inability to touch him (presumably paralleling Lord English, of similar ability, who was unable to harm Cronus) brought Kurloz Makara to manipulate and intimidate Cronus into losing hope for his destiny and magic. 

This was only enabled by Cronus' strained friendship with Meenah, Kurloz's reveal of their session being an inferior timeline, and later after death when Kankri Vantas convinced Cronus to disregard his beliefs and start anew.

After humans started showing up, Cronus, starved from attention and relevance, noted their popularity among other ghosts. Wishing for that attention himself, he started identifying as humankin, which may have also been inspired by Horuss Zahhak and his hoofbeast identity being taken (somewhat) seriously. Only after time did it die down to Cronus just having a liking for human entertainment culture and food. Other events with Cronus have happened during his blogging era. He's been in multiple relationships, grown a softer yet more opinionated persona, and has gained some weight. He's also rekindled a stronger belief in magic due to magic anons and the reuse of his wand. Currently, he is single and lives with his pets, having grown distant from most of his previous timeline group. 

[RELATIONSHIPS]

At the moment he is single, but he has gotten around: from one night stands, to quadding with candy reds, to dating alts of himself. Some relationships that have stood out are: - His one-sided <> friendship with his Meenah, which was more so a one-sided culling duty that she never told him about. He only found out about this after her double death. - A <3 to his Rufioh. It was intimate and dramatic, but short lived after Rufioh’s bubble had been popped by Lord English. - A <3 to his Kankri: Cronus’ first quadrant, and first time; with Kankri’s slick words and cunning ways of keeping Cronus close, it was his longest, and most unhealthiest, relationship. -His Aranea, Cronus’ first pitch. They lasted a month, since she wanted to kin date so badly. - A Kurloz. It was a one-sided, abusive pitch quadrant that was more of Kurloz’s plan to keep Cronus in control from doing further, prophecy damage to LE, and for revenge. He is alive, but Cronus promptly beat the shit out of him with a crowbar after a six month nightmare.  - Alts. He’s had a history with at least four of himself before.

[ABILITIES]

Cronus has an assortment of powers and skill from his biology, magic, and ghost abilities. This includes: -Natural seadweller strength allowing him to pick up heavy objects. -Biolume freckles. -Being unaffected by the illusions or psychological effects of chucklevoodoos, outside of communication (is able to permanently erase this m!a whenever.) -Creating new memory bubbles and objects from events in his life and afterlife. -Can slowly heal through his ghost powers. -Transforming into either a dog or human form. -Speaking and understanding angels. -Having a reflective hope shield that appears in deadly, hopeless situations. -A magic wand with multiple abilities, such as paralyzing enemies (10 mins at most; time split depending on number used on), magic smoke bombs, healing, and mock telekinesis. -Being able to swim in waters that reach -20 degrees.

Older and younger Lyra. She became a Keyblade wielder at about 13 years old and fought in the Keyblade war at 15/16ish. After the Keyblade war, time is weird in the datascape and by the end of khux she doesn't actually know how old she is.

Lyra's usual Keyblades are Starlight (all-purpose), Counterpoint (magic), Sleeping Lion (speed), and Fenrir (power). After ux/ml era she uses either Starlight or Aubade. I also have a new Keyblade idea for her called Mourning Star, which is a color variant of Aubade that formchanges into dual wield swords and then a double-bladed sword.

(I chose Aubade because 1. its my fav Keyblade, and 2. the name is a song about lovers parting at dawn [very applicable for skulmerayer]. Aubade also symbolizes both the pain of separation and light phenomena, which why I chose the name Mourning Star)
