Here are just some of my fragmented thoughts and wild ideas about Good Omens, including some spoilers:

When Shax asked Crowley about the 25 lazari miracle, and Crowley responded: "what makes you think it wasn't me?" or what it was, it was like Shax couldn't hear him. Just like nobody really could see or hear Gabriel. Could Crowley have been under a similar protection? He wasn't hidden, of course, angels and demons did remember him, and notice him, but maybe they forgot what he could do, or something?

Another thing - when Adam Young in s1 made it so that Satan wasn't his father and never had been - did he also unmake Lucifer/Satan? It looked like it, although that would be strange, I suppose. It could explain some things, though. No wonder there was a lack of workers in Hell in s2, if Satan had left the building (God seems to have left the building, too, at least as a narrator).

It makes me wonder, that's all. And Metatron mentioned one fallen prince being a good story, so did he talk about Lucifer? Or was Crowley the fallen prince? Maybe it doesn't matter. We know that Crowley was dominion or principal or higher, and that he was cast out. So how did Heaven manage to cover up that another high rank angel like Crowley fell? It seems likely that they messed with his memories, of course. But I have a feeling it didn't fully work as they wanted it to. Idk.

I have thought about another thing, too: After Satan vanished, how did Aziraphale and Crowley still remember everything that had happened anyway? I always thought it was because they were in the middle of it all, but. Could it be that they were special, somehow? I mean, if they could remember stuff that had been erased, stuff that others couldn't remember, that's huge. Also, I fear for Beelzebub and Gabriel. What if they were erased from the book of life, and Crowley and Aziraphale were the only ones who could remember them?

Idk. Just some random thoughts.

I also wonder about the sort of "Wanda-vision-vibe" in the whole Wickber Street, it felt almost unreal at times, and not only at the meeting/ ball. It could be my imagination, because I can't quite put my finger on why it felt like that to me. But when I saw the dystopian concept art images of Aziraphale's shop, surrounded by ruins, it made my head spin. What if the world ended a long time ago, and Aziraphale and Crowley are just clinging to their little corner of the world, wanting to keep everything as it is?

I know. It doesn't quite make sense if you look at it closely. But the idea tickles my imagination. That's all. And I do think Crowley and Aziraphale are stuck in their old ways, even if they're not stuck in a magical timeless Wickber-street-bubble.

Watching the GOP trying to pivot and find targeting on Kamala that the Average Voter™ would agree with is hilarious. It's largely been clips of out of context moments where she laughs awkwardly about bad jokes she made. A few mentions that she never won a primary and are their best hits. They have nothing else outside of dog whistles, and those guys were always voting Trump. Like we hate her here for her being a cop, but the GOP can't fucking angle 'cops bad' to their base. As awful as 'tough on crime' rhetoric is, it's immensely popular with the exact kind of people who are swing voters. Even the attention from the attempted assassination was basically lost as all the focus shifted to Biden's decision. Theres suddenly a momentum around the DEM candidate we haven't seen since Obama. It feels like it went from an uphill fight to keep Trump out to a layup.

Just got hit real hard by a drive-by idea where Flashpoint doesn't happen and Dick just takes a few months off to chill (read: Donna shows up and drags him off to have adventures now that Bruce is back in town and everything seems status quo again)

And when he comes back it initially looks like that set up so many fandom fics have where Tim has been isolating himself / been left to his own means and only works with the others out of politeness.

And the moment Dick clocks that that's what the others think is happening, he can straight up feel the grey hairs trying to show up, because while he had phone calls with Tim (who seemed to be coping better with everything that went wrong in his life) and Damian (with whom Dick did not talk about anyone outside of Damian and, occasionally, Bruce, which was already hard enough on Dick without bringing the others in) he had also thought that things had sort of started settling back into what Dick used to think as normal before Bruce "died" on them.

Except Damian and Jason don't know how to pick up on that sort of thing, Cass is still doing her Hong Kong / Journey of Self Discovery Thing as far as anyone seems to know / Bruce is CLEARLY (to Dick and Alfred and absolutely no one else) still communicating with Tim because he's on an even keel but also he must have done something to piss off Tim because Tim is doing the Politely Co-Workers Thing at Bruce (with Alfred's approval and support so Bruce must have fucked up REAL BAD) and it's stressing Bruce out so much that Dick can practically see the tension lines heading to a breaking point in the man why is no one else seeing the tension lines.

Plus Barbara and Dick were still on not-so-great terms when Dick split from Gotham, so he's not had much luck talking to her and some desire to call her but not enough to actually call her a lot, just some, which hasn't made Babs less pissed at him, so he's not getting information on that side and of course if Barbara is pissed at him and Tim is pissed at Bruce and Dick wasn't around for Tim to bitch about Bruce in person (and Tim would NEVER on a phone line, not even a secure one) then Dick is 1000% sure that Tim and Barbara have been having a shared and supportive bitch fest for however many weeks / months Dick was away that has just solidified them in a block of their own.

All of which means that Dick's little brother has been left unbothered, unnoogied and unsupervised for all the time Dick was away and like, sure, some people would think Dick would feel horrible for that and want to octopus-grab him and cuddle him but those people would be wrong because Dick is now honestly terrified to find out WHAT Tim has been up to without supervision and limits.

Between YJ, his civilian friends, his other friends in the superhero community, whatever new people Tim for sure rustled up, the lack of supervision on who Tim teams up with and for what, all the villain-frenemies he might have decided it was worth cooperating with, Tim being pissed at Bruce enough to keep a physical distance if not a communication distance...

And then, just as it is hitting Dick that, of course just keeping track on the phone was a bad idea to begin with why did he think that was a good idea and that what with Barbara and Tim in agreement and both Tim and Barbara at odds with Bruce and Alfred firmly entrenched in his usual If-Tim-Is-Handling-Master-Bruce-I-Will-Not-Hear-A-Thing-Against-The-Lad british politeness artillery position, this means that no one who would not enable him in the Wrong And Not Dick Approved Ways has been actually keeping as close track of Tim as he should have been kept track of (because *will smith hands memes* TIM!) ...

... Red Robin swings by, Azrael in tow, clearly going after Lynx.

And it's not that new Azrael that they had, which was still an Azrael but wasn't the Worst of the Azraels.

It's fucking Jean Paul Valley, who is supposed to be dead and clearly did not have the goddamn grace to decide to stay dead.

Dick, internally while outwardly having a BSOD moment: Tim. Tim you had just told Dick you were going to check out a couple of leads tonight. Tim why are you swinging from rooftops with JPV in tow. Tim why is JPV ALIVE. Why did you NOT tell Dick about it, TIM. TIM.

Even if Marcus having a daughter did turn out to be the red flag in season 1 that showed where season 2 was headed socially and politically, that plot point didn't need to be mutually exclusive with a season 2 plot that was nuanced and interesting re: Piltover vs. Zaun.

Marcus had multiple opportunities in season 1 to stop what he was doing with Silco and actually prioritize his daughter (and his life with her) - or just stop Silco himself, if Marcus had been willing to die or go to prison - but his personal biases and the opportunity for personal gain kept winning out over and over, leading to his death. Which was tragic - even if many of us didn't feel that bad for him - yet inevitable. I never got the sense that Marcus in season 1 was indicating a "both sides are the same" or "we should all just work together" type of plot, but rather, "Here is what the privileged are willing to do - and not do - to maintain the status quo."

In watching season 1, between Marcus having a daughter, Jayce being easily led and reaching too far with his power, and Caitlyn's naivete, I thought that the Piltover plot was taking us to a place where these more privileged characters see opportunities to do better wrt the undercity, but because of ignorance, personal gain, personal biases, or personal injury and trauma, they actively choose to perpetuate the sociopolitical divide and find ways to justify these choices for themselves, regardless of any opportunities they may have to learn, grow, and do better specifically with regards to the undercity. Which helps shed light on why irl power structures seem so rigid and unchanging despite everything. This doesn't mean that the Piltover characters needed to die or anything, but I do think it would've been more interesting if the tragedy element was kept ("fate worse than death" types of tragic endings are more interesting anyway imo), the Piltover/Zaun conflict wasn't "solved" in the end, and the impact of Piltover's apathy and violence wasn't brushed aside. Particularly if there had been a real undercity uprising plotline.

Meaningful Highlights from Kakashi Retsuden:

Minato catching Kakashi before he falls, the same way Kakashi always does for his students. And Kakashi, even at eight or nine years old, straight out of his father's funeral and before being his student, immediately relaxing when he runs into Minato: His feet tangled beneath him and he pitched forward. Into someone’s back. “You were really strong back there,” a voice told him, and he suddenly saw bright golden hair. He felt his breathing become a little easier. The Yellow Flash of Konoha. Kakashi describing his current feelings about his father: Now he felt proud from the bottom of his heart to have been born the child of the White Fang of Konoha.

Kakashi wanting to help the people of Redaku in a way that they can sustain themselves, even as he actually is providing a great deal of support through the process: The people of this country had to learn how to stand up and walk under their own strength. Give a starving person bread or teach them how to grow wheat. As Hokage, Kakashi had always chosen the latter.

Kakashi reflecting on his time as Sixth Hokage he eschewed tradition to build something that developed beyond shinobi: A never-ending peace. That was what Kakashi had sought as the Sixth Hokage. An orderly society that would go on and on even when he was not the Hokage, even when the day came when the role of Hokage disappeared. To create a framework so that they would never again fall into the quagmire of war.

The way Kakashi shows that he still views all of the former students taught by him and his friends in a parental and protective way: They had long since reached adulthood, and some were now parents while others were active on the front lines as shinobi. Even so, no matter how many years passed, to Kakashi, they were his precious students and the next generation who needed to be protected. Seeing them having so much fun was enough to ease his heart.

The previous ask had me looking up more about the shingle bob cuz I was curious, and back then a lot of women got bobs, not just because they wanted one, but as a form of female empowerment and the fight for women's rights. They were pushing back on societal norms and challenging the status quo (which we know Alastor likes to do >:3)

Alastor choosing to fashion his hair in a style that was known to be controversial for his time AND it being a feminine haircut makes me love it even more. That's so gender of him <3 (Although back then, one of the push-backs for the bob was that it made women look more "mannish" but considering the hairstyle men wore at the time, Alastor's hair would definitely be on the feminine side).

what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting. not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women. and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do. acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house. saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.

thinking about the character again (cinderpelt) and it's likely unintentional and a result of either her shifting narrative role from young go getter to wise mentor or a shift in how the books display their own politics but i find something really tragic in-universe in how she develops from a character who will actively and willingly break the warrior code when it conflicts with her own morals (immediately lying to cover for graystripe and silverstream, acting in direct defiance of her leadership to nurse littlecloud and whitethroat back to health) but overtime through her role she gradually grows more god-fearing and pious and embodies somewhat of a "starclan is always right, even when they are cruel, and we need to accept that" position

i don’t know if i’m ever gonna write the fic but i’ve been thinking abt like. the eternal stockade. the implications. lup, a lich who was trapped in a dark featureless cell for a decade completely isolated with nothing to keep her sanity but her own mind. she has to put people in the eternal stockade. how many liches does she see herself in. how many liches started out just like her. how many liches are truly too far gone. and the only liches we ever see other than her and barry are edward and lydia. they’re certainly evil, but mad? they seem pretty sane. they’re not, like, tattered echoes of souls, they’re definitely still people. even as much of a grudge as lup surely has against them, wouldn’t they remind her incredibly strongly of herself? do they deserve to be trapped just like she was? for eternity? isn’t eternity what turned john to existential despair in the first place?

For those who don’t want to read the entire mamoth post I made - here is the highlights.

We’ve had it wrong this entire time - Tommy isn’t meant to be Eddie lite at all (I mean there are elements of that for sure as we’ve discused since Tommy reappeared) he’s actually a version of Buck - he represents the unloved part of Buck (except by Maddie) - the child Buck was - Evan (which is why Tommy keeps calling him Evan!).

My big post goes into all the costuming choices and lines in the script that point to this and that this is an arc about buck learning to love himself now he’s been reborn after his death - so that he is ready for Eddie.

Tim is so deliberate in his use of words and both in the script his use of words like exhausting, and comfortable are so intentional - this is about buck actually listening to his inner voice and becoming comfortable with himself.

Eddie will be ‘out in the cold’ because he can’t go on this part of Bucks journey with him - buck has to do it alone.

But essentially it’s all a set up for buddie!

the fact is, if varric lives (and that's an if bc maybe solas does kill him lmao idk how much to trust that minimap reveal) it IS weird that you can't customise a hawke or account for the decision because it would be a little weird if a man who has lived through a wannabe god + blight dragon attacking warden fortress has nothing to say about ghilan'nain and her blight dragon attacking a warden fortress, especially if he potentially lost his best friend (Hawke). It's not outlandish for people to be a little disappointed to not get some customisation there because the choices are not equal to varric. the loss of hawke is obviously a bigger impact on him than whichever warden is there. given varric's personality, it's not outlandish to expect him to talk about it with Rook either especially considering weisshaupt is a thing that happens in the game. if he dies beforehand it doesn't matter, but if he's going to be around? yeah you'd think he'd be talking about it here.

speaking of weisshaupt, A PLACE YOU GET TO GO, a hero of ferelden who made the ultimate sacrifice IS FUCKING INTERRED THERE. But it's just "whining" to expect a nod (esp one that you can customise so it's your hero of ferelden) i guess.

regardless of whether morrigan has mythal or not, who she is as a person does change based on whether she was romanced and whether she had a child. it is natural that this matters and people aren't stupid to be tentatively concerned that nothing of her history is "required" but she's apparently this important vip character who will have more involvement in the game than you expect. like you are allowed to ask: okay what does this mean, what will she be like, will she be the same character i've loved across multiple games?

people are allowed to be upset or concerned that a game series that historically took your choices and your decisions into account has watered that down to 3 choices when certain choices that WOULD impact characters that appear in THIS game aren't. (and to be clear being upset does not mean harassing the devs, don't do that).

When Arcane remembers there's a class conflict going on I would love to see how Jayce would tackle removing hextech from the public sphere. I cannot imagine a scenario where Zaun's leadership and people in general don't see this as complete bs. Piltover was able to reap the rewards for hextech for nearly a decade and transformed their city into a world capital of trade. Now, after Piltover, specifically Jayce and Caitlyn, cracked down on shimmer production, a major source of industry for Zaun, Piltover says Zaun can't use hextech, the major source if wealth in the region, because it's "a curse".

We the audience know hextech has had a negative impact on Zaun's environment, ie the Firelight tree, but shouldn't Zaun be allowed to figure out how to deal with it rather than a blanket ban on important technology? The kind of technology I cannot emphasize enough that explicitly enriched topside and only worsened inequality between the two cities, and Jayce wants to get rid of it.

What does that look like? To the uncharitable observer, almost all of Zaun, it looks like the Piltovans in charge not only took every opportunity to wreck Zaun and its economy, but now want shut down Zaun's only chance to economically grow and become less dependent on Piltovan industry. One of Silco's demands during the actual "negotiation" was free access to the hexgates, and now there won't be any hexgates???????? To Zaunites, this is Piltover not just trying to keep Zaun under its thumb, but put Zaun in an even worse position than they started. It's such a mess.
