"Jesus, they're fucking old," Aleksander joked, running a hand through his hair. He didn't like to think about Richard when he was in his 20s. He wondered if the stick that was constantly up his father's ass existed back then, too, or if it was a more recent thing. "And then I hear all of the consequences of the money talk, and I have to actually do the work..." He just barely held back a groan. It was part of his job, even if he hated it. "Richard doesn't forget he's got kids, considering that's all I'm good for for him - doing work and carrying his name or whatever - and he fucking worships the ground Aurélie walks on. Sometimes I think it'd be easier if he forgot, though."
" it all sounds perfect to me, " he said. jupiter knew it was going to be a great season. and was he ready to attend every home game, A B S O L U T E L Y . " probably because my dad && your dad have known each other since they were our age. that, plus they like to talk about money, what stocks to purchase, yada yada, " he rolls his eyes. " i swear, my father forgets he has children, since he's always yapping with your dad whenever he's not with some new girlfriend of the month. "

Super-Jupiter from the Great Bear
The scientists behind the discovery are from the Nicolaus Copernicus Univeristy Institute of Astronomy: dr habil. Gracjan Maciejewski, NCU Prof., prof. dr habil. Andrzej Niedzielski, prof. dr habil. Krzysztof Goździewski and a fifth-year astronomy student, Julia Sierzputowska. In collaboration with researchers from Spain and the United States, including Prof. Aleksander Wolszczan, they described the cosmic finding in the prestigious scientific journal "Astronomy & Astrophysics".
An inconspicuous star with a massive planet
We are dealing with an extremely massive exoplanet - as much as eleven times the mass of Jupiter, the largest planet in our Solar System. It orbits its parent star in 14 years, and is six astronomical units away from it (the astronomical unit [a.u.] is a conventional measure of distance used in astronomy, the average distance between the Earth and the Sun. It is 149,597,870.7 km. For example: The Moon is 0.026 a.u. from the Earth, while Jupiter is 5.2 a.u. from the Sun).
- We cannot see a planet, but we can spot the star around which it orbits - with a small telescope as small as 10 cm. The star's physical parameters are similar to those of the Sun. The data indicate that it is 20 percent more massive and twice as large as the Sun. Interestingly, it has already completed the stage of evolution that the Sun is currently in; it has a backyard '5 billion years behind it. We can therefore estimate that this is also the age of the entire planetary system,' explains dr habil. Gracjan Maciejewski, NCU Prof., leader of the research group from the NCU Institute of Astronomy. - It is located on the northern side of the sky in the Great Bear constellation and bears the designation HD 118203, because it was first listed in Henry Draper's stellar catalogue under this number. The telescope used to make the observations for this catalogue more than a century ago is now located in our observatory in Piwnice, near Torun.
The Draper telescope is one of the world's first astrographs, or photographic recorders of celestial sphere phenomena. It was built in 1891 as a 'memorial' to the prematurely deceased American spectroscopic physicist Henry Draper, with which his wife Anna Maria supported the Harvard Observatory's ambitious programme, led by Edward C. Pickering, to develop a catalogue of photographic and photovisual brightnesses of stars and their spectral classification. More than 60,000 photometric and spectral images of the sky were taken with this telescope in Cambridge, and it contributed so much to Pickering's intention that the compiled inventory containing almost a quarter of a million stars was called the Henry Draper catalogue. The 'HD' star designations are still used today and are familiar to all astronomers around the world.
How did Draper's astrograph find its way to Piwnice? In autumn 1947, the construction of the first observatory pavilion of the NCU Astronomical Observatory with a rotating dome of five metres in diameter began. Two years later, an astrograph sent from Cambridge stood there and, after the necessary adaptations, began regular observational work.
Today this interesting monument, unique in the world, has become an attraction for visitors to the NCU Institute of Astronomy in Piwnice.
Patience pays off
For nearly 20 years, astronomers have known that the star HD 118203 orbits a fairly massive planet. In 2006, the first gas giant was discovered, with a mass of two Jupiter masses, orbiting the star in a tight orbit in just six days.
Doppler observations, however, indicated that this was not the end of the story, that there might be another planet out there. Therefore, we immediately included this system in our observational programmes,' says Prof. Andrzej Niedzielski, co-author of the discovery. – At first, as part of the Torun-Pennsylvania exoplanet research programme, conducted in collaboration with Professor Aleksander Wolszczan, we tracked the object with one of the largest optical instruments on Earth, the nine-metre Hobby-Eberly Telescope in Texas.
The results were so promising that the Torunians, with collaborators from Spain, continued observations of the star in the Canary Islands, using the Italian Galileo telescope. This observatory was equipped with the best instrumentation designed to discover planets.
- However, eight years of research have not provided an answer as to what type of an object it is, ' adds Prof. Niedzielski.
It took another seven years for astronomers in Torun to obtain indisputable evidence that they were dealing with a planet.
Patience pays off,' says Prof. Maciejewski. - The new observations collected in March 2023 proved crucial in determining the planet's orbital parameters. Moreover, because it takes a planet several years to orbit its star, we were able to combine our Doppler observations with available astrometric measurements to unambiguously determine its mass. This allowed us to build a complete model of this planetary system and study its dynamical behaviour.
Before that, however, it was necessary to make sure that there were no more planets hiding in the system. This task was undertaken by Julia Sierzputowska, a student of astronomy.
I analysed photometric observations obtained with the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite space telescope, showing that there were no other planets around HD 118203 larger than twice the size of Earth, and therefore not massive enough to be relevant for studying the dynamics of the system.
Planetary tandem
It turned out that the astronomers had discovered a hierarchical planetary system.
It is a peculiar configuration in which one planet forms a tight pair with its star, and a second planet orbits the pair in an orbit wide enough to, as it were, form another pair with the first one,' explains Prof. Krzysztof Goździewski, who conducted detailed numerical studies of the system's dynamics.
Both planets are massive and orbit in rather elongated orbits. Despite this, their mutual gravitational influence does not destabilise the system on a scale of millions of years.
- We have shown that this is due to effects arising from the general theory of relativity. If it were not for these effects, the planets would behave like jittery springs, constantly changing the shape of their orbits and their orientation in space,' adds Prof. Goździewski.
Cosmic answers
Astronomers admit that knowledge of the formation and evolution of planetary systems still hides many fundamental unknowns. Hierarchical systems like HD 118203, of which only a dozen are known, allow them to probe hypotheses for the formation of massive planets.
An interesting question is about the paths of development of such planetary configurations,' says Prof. Maciejewski. - Although from our point of view - inhabitants of the Solar System - they are quite 'exotic', learning about systems with massive gaseous planets seems important so that we can get to know our nearest, 'astronomical backyard'.
- Our work does not end. We are still conducting observations and analysing data - there are chances for further planetary discoveries,' says Prof Niedzielski. - It is gratifying that we manage to involve students and doctoral students in this interesting and important research.

Notes:
i didn't have a color for her dress in mind when writing so take this i guess. i think it looks pretty nice
i edited a crop top to try and make it look a little like a corset?? just imagine it's that
her hair was tied up but here it looks as it wasnt up at all, so again...a creative liberty on my part
i did give her pointy ears but you can't see em

Wave At The Stars and They will Wave Back
“Saturn is my absolute favorite object in the night sky. When I was a child, I had a dog-eared book on the Solar System, which I read over and over, stopping and staring with wonder at the section on Saturn. How could a planet have rings of ice? What would it be like to fly out and visit the planet, to see the rings with your own eyes. How did it get all those strange moons?”
~Maria
Maria has always been fascinated by the night sky and what lays beyond it. As a matter of fact, she met the love of her life, Maxine, while watching Saturn from the Girffith Observatory.
Their eyes locked, time stopped...then Maria tripped and accidentally spilled her iced coffee all over Max in the middle of winter and the rest is history.
So, for this very special article as a second early wedding gift to her and Max, we asked all of you which are your fevourite celestial bodies, and compiled a small list of interesting facts about them!
Saturn
As Maria’s favourite planet, and the reason Max and her met, Saturn has the honour of being at the very top of the list.
Did you know:
Saturn has 82 moons As of the pennings of this article, Saturn boasts Solar System's most known moons: 82! Some of these are large, like Titan, the second largest moon in the Solar System. But most are tiny – just a few km across, and they have no official names.
There could be life near Saturn Not life on Saturn; the planet is way too hostile to support life. But there could be life on one of Saturn’s moons: Enceladus. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft discovered ice geysers blasting out of Enceladus’ southern pole. This means that some process is keep the moon warm enough that water can remain a liquid underneath the surface. And wherever we find liquid water on Earth, we find life
Jupiter
For number two, we have Jupiter, named after the King of the Olympians himself.
Did you know:
Jupiter has 79 moons Second only to Saturn, Jupiter has a 79 confirmed and named satellites. However, it is estimated that the planet has over 200 natural satellites orbiting it. Almost all of them are less than 10 kilometers in diameter, and were only discovered after 1975, when the first spacecraft (Pioneer 10) arrived at Jupiter. However, it also has four major moons, which are collectively known as the Galilean Moons. These are, in order of distance from Jupiter, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. These moons are some of the largest in the Solar System, with Ganymede being the largest, measuring 5262 km in diameter.
You Can See Jupiter With Your Own Eyes Jupiter is the third brightest object in the Solar System, after Venus and the Moon. Chances are, you saw Jupiter in the sky, and had no idea that’s what you were seeing. And here at Universe Today, we are in the habit of letting readers know when the best opportunities for spotting Jupiter in the night sky are. Just think, you’ll be seeing precisely what Galileo did when he gazed at the planet in 1610!
Mars
For the last planet on our list -but definitely not the least- we have Mars; the Red Planet.
Did you know:
Mars Had Water In The Ancient Past We’ve been debating for centuries about whether Mars had life or not. In fact, the astronomer Percival Lowell misinterpreted observations of “canali” — the Italian word for channels — on the planet as evidence of alien-made canals. It turned out Lowell’s observations were hampered by poor telescope optics of his day, and the canals he saw were optical illusions. That said, several spacecraft have spotted other signs of ancient water — channels grooved in the terrain and rocks that only could have formed in the presence of water, for example.
Mars Has Two Moons – And One Of Them Is Doomed: The planet has two asteroid-like moons called Phobos and Deimos, named after the sons of Ares -or the Roman Mars- in Greek mythology. Because they have compositions that are similar to asteroids found elsewhere in the Solar System, according to NASA, most scientists believe the Red Planet’s gravity snatched the moons long ago and forced them into orbit. But in the life of the Solar System, Phobos has a pretty short lifetime. In about 30 million to 50 million years, Phobos is going to crash into Mars’ surface or rip apart because the tidal force of the planet will prove too much to resist.
Black Holes
Moving on from planets to the other beauties of space, for number four we have Black Holes.
Did you know:
You Can’t Directly See a Black Hole. A black hole is called a black hole because of it’s color, especially since light can’t escape. What we can see, though, is the effects of a black hole. Analyzing the surrounding area of a black hole, we can see its effects upon its environment. For example, a star that’s close enough to a black hole can be seen being ripped apart.
Dying Stars Lead to Stellar Black Holes. The death of large stars lead to black holes, because a star’s gravity will overwhelm the star’s natural pressure that it maintains to keep its shape. When the pressure from the nuclear reactions collapses, gravity overwhelms and collapses the star’s core, and the star’s other layers are thrown off into space, and this process is also known as a supernova. The remainder of the core collapses, a spot overcome by density and without volume – a black hole.
There are Three Categories of Black Holes. 1) Primordial Black holes – These are the smallest of black holes and range from an atom’s size to a mountain’s mass.
2) Stellar Black Holes – These are the most common of black holes and they can be up to 20 times more massive than the Sun. There are also a variety of these all over the Milky Way.
3) Supermassive Black Holes – These are the largest of black holes, being more than 1 million times more massive than the Sun. There’s also a song named Supermassive Black Hole by Muse.
Perseid Meteors
Did you know:
We’ve had a near-miss in the past, and there may be one again in the future. Back in the early 1990s, astronomer Brian Marsden calculated that Swift-Tuttle might actually hit Earth on a future pass. More observations quickly eliminated all possibility of a collision. Marsden found, however, that the comet and Earth might experience a cosmic near miss (about a million miles) in 3044.
The meteors are what shooting stars are made of. When a Perseid particle enters the atmosphere, it compresses the air in front of it, which heats up. The meteor, in turn, can be heated to more than 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1,650 Celsius). The intense heat vaporizes most meteors, creating what we call shooting stars. Most become visible at around 60 miles up (97 kilometers). Some large meteors splatter, causing a brighter flash called a fireball, and sometimes an explosion that can often be heard from the ground.
Next Time Around. Swift-Tuttle is due back in 2126 (as you know now, it won't hit us) and astronomers think it might become a spectacular naked-eye comet like Hale-Bopp. If historical calculations are correct (see Fact #9) then the 2126 appearance will mark the comet's 3rd millennium of human observation, assuming someone is in fact around to see it.
Pulsars
Did you know:
Pulsars are what remains after the death of a massive star. Pulsars are types of neutron stars; the dead relics of massive stars. What sets pulsars apart from regular neutron stars is that they’re highly magnetized, and rotating at enormous speeds. Astronomers detect them by the radio pulses they emit at regular intervals.
Pulsars are invaluable when it comes to discovering more about space. Pulsars help us search for gravitational waves, probe the interstellar medium, and even find extrasolar planets in orbit. In fact, the first extrasolar planets were discovered around a pulsar in 1992, when astronomers Aleksander Wolszczan and Dale Frail announced the discovery of a multi-planet planetary system around PSR B1257+12 – a millisecond pulsar now known to have two extrasolar planets.
It has even been proposed that spacecraft could use them as beacons to help navigate around the Solar System. On NASA’s Voyager spacecraft, there are maps that show the direction of the Sun to 14 pulsars in our region. If aliens wanted to find our home planet, they couldn’t ask for a more accurate map.

In 1992, astronomers discovered the first exoplanet, or planet outside our solar system. But it didn’t come in any form they’d really anticipated.
Neutron stars are the second densest type of object in the universe outside black holes. They form when a giant star dies and explodes outward as a result of the collapse of its core. Put simply, the star becomes too massive to go on and expels all its energy into the surrounding space. The core is a sort of ground zero of this detonation. When that core collapses, depending on the size of the star, it becomes either a neutron star or a black hole.
Some neutron stars are called pulsars, for the regular “pulses” they give off in radio frequencies. Think of many of them like a drummer — fast regular beats. Some pulsars, called millisecond pulsars, “drum” so fast that it would put Napalm Death’s drummer Danny Herrera to shame.
Those pulses are so regular that if they don’t come at the right interval, astronomers know something is off.
A breakthrough in 1992 provided rock-solid evidence of planets. Astronomers Aleksander Wolszczan and Dale Frail tuned into the pulsar PSR B1257+12, 2300 light-years away. It should have pulsed every 0.006219 seconds, but every now and then, its pulses were a little off. Yet those off-beats came at regular intervals as well. After intensive study, Wolszczan and Frail came up with an explanation for why that was: it had two planets around it. One was three and the other four times the mass of Earth, and they rotated around every 67 and 98 days, rounded up.
Pulsar planets are somewhere in between a zombie and a chimera. When a star explodes, usually the planets in that system are destroyed or flung out by a shockwave. But after the violence settles down, the gas and dust can recondense. This, in effect, means that the three planets in B1257 may be made out of parts of the planets that came before them. Given the extreme radiation in these systems, almost no one has ever thought that the B1257 system could host life.
From the 1980s on, many groups had been on the hunt for the first planet around a Sun-like star. Some candidates came and went. Others required dozens or hundreds of observations to officially confirm.
But an observation in January 1995 proved to be the real deal. Didier Queloz, a grad student at the University of Geneva, was working with his advisor, Michel Mayor, on the search for extrasolar planets via radial velocity, in other words, wobbles.
Reportedly, his find was a chance coincidence. Out of a catalog of radial velocity signatures, he chose an F-type star called 51 Pegasi, roughly 50 light-years distant. He was trying to calibrate his planet finding code, opting for the star as one of a few promising candidates. It fell into place that night, a strong signal roughly every four days.
Measurements placed its minimum mass near Jupiter — meaning the object was without a doubt a planet. While astronomers considered it possible to have such periods, it wasn’t necessarily expected to find one in such a short period. “At this time, I was the only one in the world who knew I had found a planet,” Queloz told the BBC in 2016. “I was really scared, I can tell you.”
There was some reason to be scared: finding a planet was then — and in some ways is still — really hard, and there were plenty of mistakes, ghosts, inexplicable data points, and other hiccups that never seemed to form a planet or a brown dwarf. Yet according to Queloz’s data, the half-Jupiter-mass, quickly moving, ultra-hot planet was there.
Much of the rest of 1995 was spent by Queloz convincing Mayor that he had truly found a signal, not an instrument error or other quirk of observing. Their paper was finally published in October 1995. Astronomer Geoff Marcy (who was later forced out of the University of California, Berkeley, after allegations of sexual harassment) followed up the observations and found that the Geneva team was on to something — he and collaborator Paul Butler were able to find the same signature at an entirely different observatory.

You've done songs that represent your OCs but could you do like, pieces of orchestral music?
This is actually a BEAST of a question - and of course as a music graduate, I bloody love it! 💜 As a first study violinist, some of them have tended to go that way, and I’ve included links if any of you want to listen to them. But seriously @its-a-goddamn-heartbreak this is an actual stellar question, and I could go into so much more detail as to why I’ve picked each piece... 😂
Eden - Brandenburg Concerto No 2 in F Major: III Allegro Assai - BachJude - Sonata in D Major for two pianos, K 448: I Allegro con Spirito - MozartEppie - Night on Bare Mountain - MussorgskyLeyton - Gavotte and Rondeau Partita No 3 - BachAlba - Piccolo Concerto in C Major, RV443: III Allegro Molto - VivaldiMattie - Mars, Bringer of War - Holst
Blake - Le Nozze di Figaro Overture - MozartAiden - Minuet from String Quartet in E, Op. 11, No 5 - Boccherini Jack - Morceaux de Salon, Op 6 No 2: Danse Hongroise - RachmaninoffLindsey - Unter Donner und Blitz, Op. 324 - Strauss II
Cain - Danse Macabre, Op 40 - Saint-SaënsDamian - Rondo for viola and piano - SibeliusJesse - Classical Gas - Mason Williams (as performed by Tommy Emmanuel) Jenna - Prelude in G Minor - RachmaninoffMurray - Dance of the Swans - TchaikovskyAleksander - Les dragons d’Alcala - BizetZara - Symphonies of Wind Instruments - Stravinsky
Zubin - 1812 Overture, Op 49 (Finale) - TchaikovskyXander - In the Hall of the Mountain King - GriegAaliyah - Violin Concerto No 1 in A Minor, BWV 1041: III Allegro - BachSeòras - Land of the Mountain and the Flood - Hamish MacCunnLyle - AirTap! - Erik MongrainPippa - Montagues and Capulets - Prokofiev
Jethro - Rhapsody in Blue - GershwinSilas - Piano Concerto No 2 in G Minor, Op 22: III Presto - Saint-SaënsEmilia - Firebird (Finale) - StravinskyMcKenzie - Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity - Holst
And the hilarious thing is, if you were to ask me how many of these pieces I’ve played personally, it’d be like 95% 😂😂
