Tl;Dr for Tachihara‘a side story

(Since tumblr won’t let me post 4 couple minute long videos)

- Black Lizard has a mission that they clear quickly

- Gin wants to go meet Akutagawa at the shrine so she and Tachihara go there while Hirotsu goes to report (it’s a lotta Tachihara internal monologuing but we get this awful gem that hurts a bit)

- Higuchi is stalking looking for Akutagawa and gets jealous that they’re all together and Tachi pushes her away so the siblings can have time together

- Tachihara tells Hirotsu that he already reported back and Hirotsu tells him to him since he’s free and sends him a map to a pub

- they run into Chuuya there and Tachihara has a small freak out and they all go drinking together. Also Hirotsu basically calls Tachihara a baby to his face (he’s right)

- they need to remind us that Tachihara is always just a lil regretful and that Hirotsu really cares abt him

- and then they go drinking and Chuuya yaps abt Dazai bc what else is new

- Chuuya then immediately passes out and Hirotsu and Tachihara bring him home

- Hirotsu takes Tachihara back out to the shrine finally

The End.

Basically Tachihara is thinking abt what everyone else needs as usual and peepaw doesn’t let that slide

I've had a thought.

I think Kyouka needs to join the fight against Amenogozen.

It's an established pattern that when Shin Soukoku end a conflict together Kyouka also has a hand in it.

She's with them in Dead Apple. She's the reason Atsushi even attempts to work together with Akutagawa during those events. And at the end of The Guild conflict, Shin Soukoku are the ones the defeat Fitzgerald, but Kyouka is the one that prevents Yokohama being destroyed.

Listen, maybe the answer to Atsushi's "With Just the two of us?" and Akutagawa's "Do we need any more than that?" is actually supposed to be yes, because when it was just the two of them Akutagawa died.

Shin Soukoku needs Kyouka.

When Chuuya got the call Dazai had vanished from the Port Mafia, he had hung up with a smile.

The fucker did it, he got out. He got what he wanted, and Chuuya was happy for him.

Now, he was free. He could do what he wanted, live by his own rules.

He could grow and heal and do better, be better than he had ever been before.

He didn’t have to worry about Dazai ending it anymore. Now that he was out he knew he wouldn’t throw it all away, not after the years it took to get here.

Chuuya wanted the best for him, and now that he got it, he was over the moon.

Chuuya wasn’t worried about this being the end. Their paths would cross again, they were both too stubborn to let them not. Too tied together, bound by the hip, inextricably linked.

They were double black, afterall. Simply on a break, for now.

I want to talk more about the shockwaves of horror that went through the Port Mafia when Akutagawa died. He was one of their strongest members. Commander of the Black Lizard, The Black-Fanged Hellhound, he’s been killing since he was a child. Even with what Mori says, Akutagawa’s always running off and causing trouble and in the end he contributes the most.

And then he’s murdered. And they don’t even know how. And they don’t even have his body to bury. And that means that it was Atsushi who had the burden of telling them, their enemy

And Higuchi lost her partner, the man she loved. And Chuuya lost another friend because of his own partner’s schemes. And Tachihara and Gin lose their brother–metaphorical and literal because bet my ass Gin remembered all of their murdered friends in the streets and bet my ass that Tachihara went into his battle with Fukuchi high on rage for losing another brother.

I know that Akutagawa has dog symbolism, with the connotations of him being canid coded—with connotations such as “rabid dog” and “lone wolf” and it’s supposed to contrast Atsushi’s cat coded symbolism but I really think, in my mind that Akutagawa is like. A sloth bear. He looks the part and he’s aggressive enough to be one too. My evidence of this is entirely based on the fact that

1.) they have generational beef with tigers. Since they share the same circles with other big cats they’ve evolved to be incredibly territorial and aggressive to the point where tigers generally. I wouldn’t say scared but they avoid attacking them most of the time. Something something about the aggressive-defensive strategy of making itself look like a bigger threat to make the enemy back off—I think it’s Akutagawa like, even though he is more bite than bark when it comes down to it. In the same way sloth bears are more aggressive to make up for not being strong or fast enough to fight off a tiger, Akutagawa is for more aggressive to make for what he lacks in strength and speed against Atsushi.

2.) sloth bears are incredibly hyper-aggressive with humans and attack unprovoked. Akutagawa Is also very aggressive and attacks (atsushi, mostly) unprovoked. A large part of it is most definetely due to his job but I think his general hostility to others and willingness to maim on sight when feeling threatened is very on par to the way I see Akutagawa, I think. I don’t know how to word it properly.

3.) they way the hair sticks out on a sloth bears face really reminds me of his bangs.

The sloth bear is like if god removed all the bulk and it skin and bones compared to other bears, but gave it every bit of aggression in the lord’s heavenly arsenal, and weapons (Rashoumon) to maul everything that startles it or vaguely threatens it.

Wanted to mention the lyrics to the BSD 5 opening and their significance to a specific scene

「立ち止まる事でしか見えない場所が」

A place that can only be seen by stopping [movement]

「行けない場所がある」

There are places you can't go.

So when showing the rift between Atsushi and Akutagawa (life and death), the lyrics mention the afterlife. A place only Akutagawa can see, after death. Then, "there are places you can't go."

From Akutagawa's perspective, it would be "I am in a place only seen after death. You can't come to this place; you can't follow me."

From Atsushi's perspective, this would be "You are somewhere that I can't see, that I can't reach. You can't go there [you can't leave me]."
