Tl;Dr for Tachihara‘a side story

(Since tumblr won’t let me post 4 couple minute long videos)

- Black Lizard has a mission that they clear quickly

- Gin wants to go meet Akutagawa at the shrine so she and Tachihara go there while Hirotsu goes to report (it’s a lotta Tachihara internal monologuing but we get this awful gem that hurts a bit)

- Higuchi is stalking looking for Akutagawa and gets jealous that they’re all together and Tachi pushes her away so the siblings can have time together

- Tachihara tells Hirotsu that he already reported back and Hirotsu tells him to him since he’s free and sends him a map to a pub

- they run into Chuuya there and Tachihara has a small freak out and they all go drinking together. Also Hirotsu basically calls Tachihara a baby to his face (he’s right)

- they need to remind us that Tachihara is always just a lil regretful and that Hirotsu really cares abt him

- and then they go drinking and Chuuya yaps abt Dazai bc what else is new

- Chuuya then immediately passes out and Hirotsu and Tachihara bring him home

- Hirotsu takes Tachihara back out to the shrine finally

The End.

Basically Tachihara is thinking abt what everyone else needs as usual and peepaw doesn’t let that slide

reading into irl ichiyo higuchi and dwelling on the statement that ichiyo was bound by the structure of acceptable writing for female writers at the time — having to recreate a performance of feminity which contradicted and moved around the actual way women spoke, & which notably did not come naturally to her — but managed to make it her own + express assertiveness within it nonetheless.

anyway this is all just to say that i'm so fond of the bsd higuchi-centric chapter which says she's not naturally suited the port mafia, but that she stays and tries anyway. the way she gains respect via throwing herself into a fight she expects to lose from the motivation of her love/loyalty for akutagawa. thinking primarily of ch.77 where tachihara's suitability to the mafia is defined in his recklessness, passion, and bravery— there is something to me there about how she makes those traits her own.

Tachibros December headcanons

Shunzen just low key has grandma hobbies I think. Like, he knits and makes little crafts out of metal. Lil trains and planes and stuff that Michi can make move with their ability.

Michi’s winter stuff is all Shunzen’s hand downs and he complains that it’s itchy so Shunzen makes him his very own hat and scarf and gloves.

Michi hitting Shunzen with a snowball and Shunzen dramatically falls and dies in the snow (they later get yelled at about coming home with soggy clothes).

Shunzen carrying Michi on his shoulders for the local Christmas tree lighting so he can see.

Michi gets really excited on Christmas Eve and tries to convince Shunzen to help him catch Santa. Shunzen helps him set up a ‘surveillance fort’ (aka some blankets and pillows on the floor of Shunzen’s room) and then Michi falls asleep instantly.

Sometimes Michi gets cold and just invites himself into his brother’s bed bc his blankets are fluffier. He also does this when he has nightmares (he went to their parents once but got scolded about crying).

Shunzen was saving up money to move out with his little brother when he left.

Shunzen had a bunch of cute little decorations and ceramic figures and stuff and Tachihara took a handful when he left. He was gonna sell them for food but couldn’t bring himself to actually do it.

Teruko found them and demanded they put them out and now every year the hunting dogs decorate together when Tachihara is back for his surgery. Plus Mori is usually nicer on Christmas and Higuchi makes a big stink if he doesn’t get off (he offhandedly complained to her once and she wrote a 40 page report on why it’s important for morale and left it on Chuuya’s desk. He gave everyone the next couple days off just to avoid reading it).

Tachihara (with a lot of trial and error) managed to recreate Shunzen’s hot chocolate from taste memory (mostly because of some weird enhanced hunting dog senses bs but he doesn’t complain).

Fukuchi thought it was the best thing ever and bragged about it. He somehow convinced the government to let his ‘kids’ have a winter bake sale. Teruko was super excited, Tecchou was in charge of setting up, and Jouno was in charge of the food. Tecchou made extras but they mysteriously went missing.
