I like the idea of Sonic being just as heroic as he is selfish - cuz the core motivation for half of what he does when in regards to Eggman and the world or whatever is going on at the time is cuz he himself enjoys those adventures, and not because he feels some sort of selfless obligation over his natural abilities to do anything that he does.

it's seriously so.. Something that i've had multiple people tell me that my posts are the first they're hearing about The Day the Earth Blew Up.. WHICH IS WHY I'M BEING AN OBNOXIOUS SHILL!!! some theaters have early releases as soon as TODAY (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) so please please be sure to check your local theaters and listings!! take a friend! take your family! in doing so you not only spread the message that people want to see more traditionally animated films, you not only convince WB you don't want to see movies that are glorified shoe commercials, you not only convince WB that they are dead wrong for attempting to write this off for tax purposes, but you get a pretty dang good film out of it, too! let director Pete Browngardt and supervising producer Alex Kirwan tell you the same 👇

personally, as someone who works in animation, i'm very against the messaging of "IF YOU DON'T WATCH THIS YOU ARE SINGLEHANDEDLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FAILURE THAT COMES. YOU ARE MURDERING THE ANIMATORS". i find it condescending and unprofessional, and it only alienates your audience further. nobody should be forced to watch something they dont want to. especially when most (if not all) of these problems come strictly from above.

HOWEVER: you have absolutely nothing to lose by watching this.

you can feel good about supporting a film that almost didn't make it and helping to contribute to spreading a message that we want more films like this. you get to bask in the satisfaction of proving the higher ups wrong, that we DO want movies like this, we DO want traditional animation, we DO want to support the artists. but the best thing of all is that you get to enjoy a traditionally animated film on the big screen again

knowledge or investment of the characters and series is genuinely, in my eyes, irrelevant. i sincerely think it has elements that can be appreciated by anyone--even if, again, it just comes down to the satisfaction of doing a good turn and showing your support for animation. there is absolutely nothing you can lose by supporting it, but so, so much you, these workers, and the medium of animation as a whole can gain. if you have a spare hour and a half within the next few weeks, get out of the house, grab a friend, grab your siblings, grab your significant other, or just grab your own company and chill out with a gorgeous and funny and heartwarming and history defying movie. it's no small miracle that something like this exists in the current climate of the animation industry. don't you want to say you could play a hand in experiencing that miracle?

One could not put into words Valeria’s excitement at the approaching Winter Ball. She loved dressing up, she loved dancing, and most of all, she loved dancing with Sebastian.

Her heart had nearly leapt out of her chest when he asked her to be his date to the ball a few weeks ago…

Right after one of their Thursday Arithmancy classes, Sebastian had dragged her to the Undercroft. “Come on, I have something to show you,” Sebastian had insisted, sporting his signature grin.

He had revamped the Undercroft into a cozy, romantic hideaway. In the center of the room, a patch of cushions and blankets lay surrounded by all her favorite flowers. Softly flickering candles replaced the usual torches, filling the room with a warm, comforting glow. That’s when he asked her, with a bouquet in hand. “Will you go to the Yule Ball with me?”

She sighed happily at the memory before returning her focus to the task at hand. She had to get ready, and quickly! The dance was to start in 45 minutes and Val still had her make up and jewelry left.

Valeria spent the last 10 minutes staring at herself in the mirror. Did she look alright? Was the dress too much? Her brain raced with sabotaging thoughts. Would Sebastian like it? With a soft groan, she twirled around once last time before rushing out of her room.

She took careful, but hurried steps towards their meeting point. Her muscles tensed as she made her way down the staircase, praying she wouldn’t slip and tumble down. As she got to the final set of stairs, she finally spotted him.

“Sebastian!”

first of all, a big thank you to the lovely @girlpetrarca who has kindly helped me with the prompts! <3

now a few disclaimers: i'm no expert in medieval history, so this only wants to give some medieval inspired prompts to use that can be freely reinterpreted, no need for historical accuracy if that's not what you want to do!

i also wanted to add that my knowledge is very limited to european/italian middle ages and that's why these prompts focus mostly around that.

again, can i just say that it's genuinely been wonderful and heartwarming and amazing and vindicating and spectacular seeing the rest of the world (well. my world) care about these cartoon characters that i have dedicated the past half decade+ of my life to. Daffy and Porky are genuinely one of the most important things to me in my entire life, and i do have many convoluted explanations for this that make it sound less pathetic and terminally online than it sounds i PROMISE. but it's just genuinely really wonderful seeing people care about them or discover them or have their curiosity piqued about them. i act like i made them myself here, but i genuinely have been waiting so many years for this moment, and i also think that's a huge reason why i'm just so gung-ho on being their cheerleader and being as loud and proud about this film and the hard work that went into it as i can. i keep joking about how ridiculous this analogy is because these guys are a median of 65 years older than i am, but i genuinely feel like an obnoxious soccer or PTA mom showing off pictures of her kid on her iphone to you, and you really just wish she would shut up, and the only way to do that is to humor her but you're just kind of uncomfortable the whole time because she will not stop gushing about her kids. i'm so proud of my boys. and my friends who put my boys on the big screen. genuinely heaven for me right now
