hello unfortunately i thought even more about sol + swag as an analogy for being asian and it is . making me unwell. i am putting it under the cut for the main reason that it is stupid beyond belief

OK. so. hear me out .

STUPID REASONS WHY SOL IS ASIAN:

(and hint: this is all me projecting 100%)

1) moist frog who immediately turns off when it gets too cold. SOUTHEASTASIAN BOY AS FUCK (to me). guy who thinks thirty degrees celsius is pleasant temperature. guy who thinks that anything below 25C is sweater weather. guy who is soo sweaty and moist all the time (the humidity) and that is not only a natural state, but a preferrable state. 20 degrees is too cold. anything below 0 is actually not functional.

anyway. sol bufo. keepin it warm and gross. if its too cold and dry he immediately hibernates. king

2) idk if anyone reading this has seen shaolin soccer. but sol bufo. could clump shaolin soccer. essentially what im saying is sol bufo is like a buff asian jock. which is kinda goofy and goodnatured and loud and also very obnoxious. i cannot articulate this very well. but. what can i say except a human version of sol bufo was delivered to me in a dream and it was every buff chinese classmate ive ever met.

NONSTUPID BUT STILL KIND OF SILLY REASONS:

and this is also me projecting 100%. obviously all delusion. so i guess see this as a for-fun reading of the sol/swag storyline through the lens of a very specific of asianness

okay so. swag right. his journey is about leaving his home where he was comfortable and safe but also very confined. mothership lures him to ezry w the promise of opportunity & seeing the world, making something of himself. he ends up being exploited for his body and skills. and he runs away, but his blood still oils up the mothership cogs.

so anyway. i think its pretty clear how that cld map onto like . an immigrant experience? leaving home because of the need to find urself, but simultaneously, the threat of exploitation at the hands of ppl who see you as a potential profit to be mined. this is the first part

the part that is more crazy to me is his experience in irondeep. like, when he left moonstone he left his entire community. now hes alone ... and he cant go back. (he is stranded physically, emotionally). and at this low point, of true and utter loneliness and purposelessness, comes along bronzebeard industries. they offer him a job - but more importantly, they offer him connections.

like. thinking about how were introduced to swag. its not at his job, its his downtime, its when hes hanging out with his coworkers, when hes surrounded by 'friends'. w people who think hes cool, and the people who think hes a "sucker".

idk! but i think this also relates rlly strongly to a common experience of being international? like. when you know you are permenantly lost from home. what you want more than anything is to feel the same community and sense of belonging you used to have. and it is very easy for that desire to ge manipulated. (like - im just gonna mention the one specific instance that ive seen. which is like. international students on college campuses getting targeted a lot by christian groups. because they know those people are lonely and want a feeling of shared tradition and practice. anyway. this is one specific example but also this is literally what happens to lyddie and sister rosaline :-| )

anyway so in summary: swags story of hope/idealism, exploitation, and loneliness leading him to be a very good pawn. i think that is something that could potentially be read as the experiences of ppl dislocated internationally from their home. and im saying its asian because I Want To.

... and sol! okay. i think very simply: sol is super white-washed. total banana. and thats part of his character. he is a moonstone bullywug who never knew his own home, and still, has never even seen moonstone with his own eyes. he does not know his own history. (and kinda tangent, the place where he spends the majority of his life is in launchpad, a sanitized corporate version of reality. and i mean, the whole 'boy wizard and frog pal' is very clearly alluding to harry potter. like. its white.) but ignoring that, the essence of his character is like. this is a guy who does not know where he came from

and currently? a large part of his arc is about trying to unravel his identity by figuring out where (who) he came from. swag daniels is his one link to a community hes just now found out he has. that is a part of why hes trying so hard to save swag. swag is his family - specifically the parts about family you cant choose. that is hard, complicated and how you understand where the parts of yourself track back to.

like. i think a lot about how the pivotal moments of connection between swag and sol are all about swag... showing sol what moonstone is like. in a dream, he lets sol experience what that place is like. that place is a muggy swamp. idk. swag is taking sol back home. that fucks me up a lot

... anyway digression aside. i think one of the most painful things gg on rn w sols arc rn is. how its looking right now. sol is going to lose swag. sol is going to have to come to terms w losing swag. sol for the first time, yearns to know who he is and who he came from. but by the time he went looking it was too late. his time is up. that moment of connection was brief and gone. there are so many questions about their history that sol will never know now

so obviously this kind of dips a bit into metaphor at the end. swag represents connection to cultural history and heritage and identity. and in that lens, it reads to ME as a story abt being asian and disconnected from ur roots. but anyway. even without that lens i think sols story is still v much abt cultural estrangement

(i also have a very loose and unformed thought: which is that sols journey from wanting to stand out/be special to wanting to find a place of belonging. is ALSO INCREDIBLY RESONANT to the experience of being whitewashed asian... ESPECIALLY for ppl who do come from asia. and how that also relates to the tragedy of wanting to understand ur roots when its already too late. but . i dont rlly know if that is a common experience so. itll be noodling in my head for now)

anyway. my essay. and yes this is all make believe in my head . TLDR: i think swags an immigrant sols a banana and i am fucking insane thanks everyone

on one hand he wants you to stick around and keep him company; but on the other hand he wants you as far away from him as possible so you can go out and live your own life without being in danger or having to put up with his whole deal

please give him lots of reassurance, its going to take a lot for him to stop asking those kinds of questions; assuming he stops asking at all

U (UPSET)-

i feel like him being upset is similar to the jealousy part of this post, but just more. broad. like hes not going to take shit if youre going to try to upset him on purpose

hes more patient if its accidental, though. diving into a previous fluff alphabet, if its an accident and something that can be helped in terms of future instances hes likely to work through it with you. he knows his time with you is short, if his partner is a mortal, and he doesnt want to waste that time

soft slenderman my beloved, let this man have complex emotions and desires and whatnot

kinda just. vanishes when he gets real upset, though, since he cant control his anger that well and generally just doesnt want you to see him like that- best way to help him like that is to just give him time

hi i hope this isnt too annoying of an ask but i saw you shipped fontcest on your strawpage and id love to hear about your thoughts on the ship + any particular favorite scenarios if you got any? i've been in the UT fandom on and off for. like a decade and i like the ship in theory but i feel like the fandom has SO much content i havent really been able to get hooked on any fic/meta there and your thoughts on stancest are always great and nuanced so would love to hear your perspective if you wanna share! no worries if not though!

no.1 Asks are never annoying. It is literally like dog treats to me I get SO excited whenever anyone asks me anything or sends me something. I love yappin and i yap best when people ask so NEVER be afraid to send or ask me something I promise I will always do my best to answer as throughly as I can!

no.2 Aww thank you! I love thinking way to fucking hard about my blorbos so the fact that it doesn’t come off an insane ramblings and actually seems to strike a cord with people makes me really happy!!

no.3 GOD FONTCEST. I was utterly obsessed with it in highschool and tbh I still am (thought admittedly i have a much better understanding as to why now then i did back then!). It’s deeply nostalgic to me similar to Pinecest. Absolute classic incest ship for me. I could go into my personal history with the ship but for now i’ll focus more on the dynamic of the characters!

Analysis under the cut!

Fontcest, like a lot of incest ships, tend to be deeply interesting to me because of the guilt that’s associated with something ultimately positive (romantic love). I personally have an extreme guilt complex, so reading it being examined and expressed by characters is endlessly fascinating to me.

Sans is a perfect example of this guilt complex made manifest.

The way I read Cannon Sans is someone who already has a deep seated survivor’s guilt. Mainly due to being one of the main characters who can remember the loops. He’s someone so deeply depressed that he can barely get out of bed, and he wears a happy mask in order to prevent people from worrying about him (or you could read read it as him not even wanting to give the effort of changing his depressed ways). You could also read that he has some sort of drinking problem, which adds to his numbness and dissociation from his actual emotions.

Sans is also deeply intelligent, yet he’s constantly shown not to apply himself assumingely because he knows theres no point. It will simply reset again and all his work would have been pointless.

You could also read thats why he doesn’t work to save anyone, knowing it will be reset yet still emotionally invested anyway to do his judgement.

Then you also have to acknowledge and look into his single cannon major relationship, which is Papyrus. Papyrus seems to be the only thing that really gets Sans to do anything. Like yes he cares about the rest of the underground, he has a good couple of friends. But pappy is the only one he truly loves. You can see this especially with neutral routes where you only kill Papyrus. It always triggers his battle, regardless if you spare everyone else.

Basically, Pappy is the only thing Sans still cares about to put effort into.

Even asking the human to play along to make Papyrus happy. You could easily read the reason he jokes so often and annoys papyrus is to make him happy as well (also #sibling). Give him something to focus on other than the helplessness of their situation underground. The constant loneliness that Papyrus feels as well.

Sans would do anything for Papyrus. Even if it ment doing something he knows is morally wrong.

Theres a couple of ways you can take that. That maybe Pappy falls first and Sans, unable to say no (and probably feels the same way) falls back.

Or you could take it as Sans falling first, and it compounding onto his survivor’s guilt. Deeply afraid of hurting his beloved brother and adding to his depression. He already knows how to mask his emotions, so masking his love is just a similar task.

(second one is my personal favorite ^-^)

Papyrus on the other hand is someone who’s easily read to be innocent. Someone who always believes the good of others, even if they bully and isolate him. He’s someone deeply lonely, only really having Sans and Undyne keep him company. Everyone else finds him weird and annoying, or at least thats how I read it. He’s unsure how to act around others (*cough* autistic coded *cough*), and seems to jump to conclusions about some situations.

So I could easily see his love for Sans not ticking off his “I shouldnt be doing this radar”. He’s very much someone who wouldn’t notice how his actions might change because of a budding attraction. He loves Sans, and thats an easy fact to accept for him.

Papyrus is comparatively more simple to sans, but i still love him to bits and find him very compelling.

AND THATS JUST SORT OF THE SURFACE OF THOUGHTS ON THESE TWO. They’re very fun and silly 2 me and they deserve to smooch a bit.

tbh i didnt think i would like him because i saw him so much before i watched the anime and was worried he'd be over hyped (which he very well may be lol) but i fell in love during the first fight with him, when he's testing yuji's control of sukuna. and as the series progressed, i just adored him more and more.

but personally, i really really enjoy the fact that he's not this overly serious and stoic guy, he proudly shows all of his emotions and is not afraid to be just stupid and silly. he makes jokes and steals kugisaki's skirt to make yuji laugh and holds jogo's hand before fighting and tells everyone that he hates the higher ups because they're not trying to do the right thing and he yells and freaks out when he learns that geto killed his parents/entire village. yes, he's the most powerful sorcerer in the modern age but he's also a human. he's revered and feared and idolized, but he's still a person.

he knows hes pretty and powerful so he is cocky and a little shit sometimes but i think that makes him a fun character to explore. would i get along with him irl? very much doubt it. but as a character? i love him a lot, probably top 5, if not top 3 jjk characters.

another thing i love about him is that he wants to protect the next generation and so he has a soft spot for all of his kids. he does genuinely care about his students and wants them to reach their full potential. he's not doing it because he hates the elders and wants to displace them — he hates how the higher ups don't change even though the world around them is changing.

i don't think this will change your mind because i feel like it's very difficult to persuade people's opinions on characters as big as gojo. which is perfectly fine! i don't think any character should be universally loved if they're actually complex and fleshed out. sometimes you just don't like a character and thats okay :)

a post so i have more space to write. and uh. yeah it is truly so funny. it isnt actually as quick as it seems (ive been turning it over since i finished adventure time like, a week ago?) but still. im a joke and a parody etc etc etc.

anyways! i actually think most people of ooo dont have daemons at all! so lets explain why.

when i write daemon aus, i tend to write dust as a sort of, particle that kind of Exists in the world. it is created by people but it was also there before people and wouldve helped spark the creation of people, in a like, 'oh having a way to interact w this particle is really useful to do x y z, lets evolve to use it!' obvi im not a scientist and the details vary but this is how i sort of tend to see it as a baseline!

so, from there, all species that are. sapient? pretty sure sapient is the word, they all interact and connect to dust in some way. this can be via visual cues (actually perceiving it and its patterns) but mostly its through some other way, like how humans have daemons.

so, in ooo, humans do still have daemons! its just. theyre the only ones.

as for everyone else, they are all, somehow, connected to dust! they all have to be, its just a lot of them dont have daemons because nuclear war, magic bullshit, etc etc. im not 100% on all the lore behind the show but i imagine that The World Fucking Up drastically changed the way sapient species interact with dust. i like the idea that all magic-users are able to use magic bc magic is just interacting directly with dust and getting it to do what you want, so their connection to dust is just, magic. and to get there you lose whatever previous connection you might've had.

most people probably have something else. i think you could get real creative with it. i dont have answers for most people <3 i think you could give species daemon LIKE things, but i'd make em sightly different. not sure. how yet. plants? can't change shape? various things to do with range? specific places? some sort of hivemind? theres a lot of ways you can take it and none of my ideas would focus on that bc thats too close to making a whole au and im like. nah. im focusing on some MINI!! ARCS!! with a limited cast of characters!

as for people i DO have answers for....

marceline had a daemon, being a vampire fucked with that for a while. post-stakes she gets her daemon back.

finn has a daemon and theyre doing totally fine lol.

fern probably had a "daemon" but it was less daemon more another plant construct that was more just him than two people split across two bodies. he finds this out and Doesnt Take It Well.

simon has a daemon. ice king doesnt. simon doesnt get his daemon back upon being de-ice kinged. this is very bad for his mental health.

ditto for betty when she becomes magic betty. golbetty is doing great. they're together in there. no idk what that looks like.

jake has Something. not a daemon. no idea what. but he for sure has a tangible thing. prooooobly same for lady but she also might get magic-user rules and can see dust but this is just chill for her vs most magic users who get there by losing something along the way.

bmo is a computer. i dont think he has a tangible daemon but i think he's got something.

bubblegum has the whole mother gum thing so i imagine thats sort of like, a static place she visits sometimes. or maybe something with neddy??? whatever it is she doesnt have anything that like, follows her around or is on her person.

the candy people since theyre made by pb basically just have a whole mess of things she thought were interesting to experiment with. so there are candy daemons.

i think flame princess has something closer to a daemon than not but they arent a daemon. i'd need to do more research into. fire.

fionna's daemon is cake <3 before the events of the miniseries they Do Not Know This so it manifests as fionna bringing her cat literally everywhere, cake being way too smart for a cat, and neither of them thinking this is weird in any other way. (everyone around them is very freaked out <3)

NPD as we understand it and as a clinically defined disorder did not exist until 1968 when it was coined by Heinz Kohut there's a very long history of narcissism and narcissist meaning "people who are self centered, egotistical, or self involved." like that is a very easy thing to google and read up on the history of. that is how it was and has been historically used up until the last 5ish years. in 2008 if u called someone a narcissist u were calling them self centered and absolutely no one beyond a small subset of the mental health community even knew what npd was. and i know that for a fact because i was 17 at the time and had been in psychiatric treatment for 4 years already and absolutely no one knew what was going on with me and it took until i was 25 and seeing 3 different specialists before someone even mentioned npd, and even then i had to dig through a ton of barely known sources and very clinical studies and paperwork clearly not meant for the general public before i could find ANY information. so i can assure u because i lived it, that narcissist has very much not always meant "person with npd" and this is a very very new thing

so yes, it in fact HAS been remoddled to mean solely "someone with npd" now and that actually is very much the problem. the fact that people have warped the generalized meaning of a word to solely mean people suffering from a mental disorder and then demonized that disorder and that meaning to such a pervasive extent is the problem. everyone is very much capable of being narcissistic and self centered and selfish because we are all human beings capable of human emotions. saying that "only people with npd are capable of being narcissistic" only further stigmatizes and alienates us. we are not some unique sub species of human. we're literally just people with a mental illness. all of the emotions we feel are capable of being felt by all humans because we are humans. which isnt to say we cant have conversations about how people have functionally changed the meaning of this word and what that means for us and for society. i honestly do agree that at this point, narcissist is functionally indistinguishable from "person with npd" and i do very much think at this point in time, it is useless to draw a line between the two and we would be better served by deconstructing what people believe about narcissists and how being a narcissist has now become shorthand for being some kind of evil boogeyman instead of a person with a mental illness. but none of those important and necessary conversations are served by starting them out with completely wrong and incorrect information. u cant just rewrite history to serve a cut and dry black and white narrative of "narcissist has always meant nothing but person with npd so thats why u cant use it" like. it doesnt actually do anything usefull to perpetuate that lie. cause even if it was true, it still is a really bad argument as to why people should stop calling everyone around them a narcissist. like we are much better served by looking at WHY the definition of that word has changed and WHY people are now witch hunting those around them to assign them "bad person disease" and WHY being a narcissist has gone from "someone who is kind of self obsessed and selfish" to "inhuman monster demon who should not exist"

Chapter 3 Extras

Gwen:

I was shocked when DP actually ordered a drink as we got to the café, sighing my question to her to see what it was she feeling since normally she never gets anything. DP answering “more human in Gotham then anything” 

“Well thats good, seeing as you dont normally feel anything around the most of us. It’s going to be nice to just sit and enjoy this day, so we sitting outside or in here?” I asked, linking arms with both DP and Kate as Riri joined us after she ordered.

Looking at the sky, Kate hummed “Well honestly I think outside. It’s not like it would be the first time we’ve eaten outside in the rain if it does, which you did check right DP?”

“Eh, the app said its not supposed to. So its about a 40% chance I actually agree with this Wayne Weather App.” DP answered as we all took seats outside around a table. Riri rolling her eyes at that which I had to agree, that didnt seem very reliable even Tony’s weather app used the top research for predicting the weather so hopefully this worlds billionaires took after him if just a bit. 

As we wait, Kate pulls out her phone to put on some music. Riri snatching it to change the soft melody before I could which of course she stuck her tongue out at me. Letting her pick the first song while leaning into DP’s space to see who she was messaging, only to see it was a picture from one of the people she meet here. Kate kicked me before I could tease my sort of sister about the soft smile on her face from the guy’s pic as the song started. Dancing along to Shots with my friends while we waited for our buzzer to go off. 

As the song hit the mid point two guys came over and to say the fact they knew DP was shocking till I reconized the guy from the picture. Nudging Kate to help me tease my sister as we spoke to their group since it seemed DP knew some of them already with how close her and one of the guys (Jason was it?) kept sitting.

Tim:

All because Dick had to invite these four girls to join us, we now get to try to not only avoid paparazzi but had to play normal civialians too. Just because Duke and Jason made a friend, I could leave either and why because of course these girls seem to not get that a guy might just want coffee. Grumbling till we all stopped at a local coffee shop not to far from the mall Dick wanted to show off to the girls, I quickly got in line ignoring the rest of the group. Or at least I would except Damian got in right behind me with the woman that Jason willingly let into his space, and no I wasnt going to think more about that because I wasnt jealous.

“This place has a great selection of teas.” Damian spoke, clearly trying to impress her.

She laughed at it sounded so familiar for a second I almost forgot my order as I got to the counter before mutter “One Death Wish Coffee, extra six shots with carmal please”

Stepping to the side so Damian and the other could order, since it didnt pay for each of us to pay separate and would hold up the line, I tried not to listen to everyone else’s order but knowing what my brother’s get it wasnt that hard to figure out the girls were a strange mix. One order of Pumpkin Hot Chocolate, Two Black Coffees, and One London Fog extra foam, that didnt seem like a mix would make a good friend group. But thinking about it two of them did claim to be sisters, so that could explain it since nothing else did.

Once we all got our drinks, DP walked next to me even though Duke was walking close by. Jason took up her other side much to Damian’s huffing since Dick seemed to take his side with someone else talking their ears off, I didnt care as I took a sip of my beloved drink. DP giggled at me before I could growl at her, she spoke “Sorry it’s just the only other person I know that drinks that much expresso is Dan, and he hates caramel so it’s strange to see anyone drink them together. I was trying to picture Dan with that drink and nope definitely can not. Danny maybe would try it, Dani might enjoy it. But you Tim are a coffee adicit after my own heart with that strange love of the drink”

“Yet you got an earl gray” I muttered, the snark taken out of my sail with her expression being so soft and open even Jason was smiling. It felt like maybe just once hanging out with him as if he was my older brother and not the guy that tried to kill me.

Jason rolling his eyes as he grumbled “Come on Timmers, London Fog isnt just an early gray. I’ve got an Earl Gray, you really should know this by now.”

“Well excuse me for not knowing all the different types of tea drinks. I’m know for drinking my Death Wish and not much else thank you very much.” I teased back, happy to spend this little time on the walk with my favorite brother even if it was only because of someone else being there. Maybe one day it could happen, maybe?

Dick:

It was supposed to be a nice day out with the family, but of course I knew as soon as B backed out the day fell on to me to make it good. Sometimes I hated being the oldest, which is why when Duke said we were meeting up with some friends of his and Jason actually let DP into his space, that maybe the day had turned around. Hack we stopped at the coffee shop Tim loved and Damian and him didnt fight, everyone got drinks and no one got stabbed. I was really thinking it was going well for a Wayne outting, so of  course some villain had to show up. Only this huge guy wasnt someone Any of us knew, or at least that I thought we knew till Riri and Kate started yelling at each other.

Kate screamed “No Heart we cant just leave Pin to the local guys! Why because clearly they wouldnt know how to take him down! Heck we wont even be able to take him down without Spider-Man and you want to leave him for people who wont even have our knowledge of him. Why the heck would you ever be a leader!”

“I’m not saying we leave him here Kate! All im saying is if we arent supposed to be avengers here then maybe we shouldnt even step in and let these local heroes handle this. Since it seems Death feels so strongly about it!” Riri screamed back.

I rubbed my eyes, trying to figure out how to get my brother and self away from the girls so that we could change to handle Two-Face and this new villain but of course the girls just have to keep screaming. Before I could figure out a solution, I hear Tim yelp whipping around to make sure Two-Face had grabbed him or something else happened only to see DP dropping her jacket onto Tim’s head with a dark smile blooming on her face that honestly looked so sexy. If only she was a red-head then I would totally go for her but the black hair just couldnt be that sexy, didnt see why Jace kept blushing as she and Gwen both grabbed their friends.

Gwen with a similar wicked smile on her face, speaking “Heart, Hawkeye we are going to handle Pin and the other guy till the local guys get here. So Heart you better have grabbed your suit because your our eyes in the sky”

“Kate, you are going to be running interference and making sure civialians get to safety with Riri’s help.” DP said as she and Gwen both stalked towards the fighting. Before I could yell for them to stop, the two sister were holding guns that they did not have before and I decided that I didnt want to deal with that. Keeping my mouth shut and making sure everyone else was safe as we got to safety as we watched the fight from a distance as the four girls moved in perfect movement without comms.

DP seemed to move in time with arrows shot from Kate as they took down Two-Face and tied him up, I couldnt believe it when I looked to see that they took him down in under 3 minutes since not even we could do that. Gwen, DP, and Kate all turned to take out the last guy they called Pin, I turned to look at Tim who put on the jacket and had out his phone to see if he could get any information on him. Cursing since it seemed he couldnt, but no one said anything about the langue, I looked at his phone as it came up with nothing I asked “Could they be from another universe?”

“Well they did kind of hint to that. And that would explain at lot of things, but why wouldnt there be something. Theres always traces of people in other universes, but nothing for any of them!” Tim muttered.

Duke and Jason exchanged a quick glance as Damian huffed as we all watched Gwen seem to tie up this Pin guy as Kate and DP walk over with Riri land in a strange suit next to Gwen. Kate cursing up a storm as she gets closer “No really DP, why do you carry that, and dont say just because!”

“Because you never know why a spider is going to lose their web-shooters and you never know when they are going to come in handy. You have to admit it’s a good thing I do, learned it from Peter here, always carry extra web-shooters and fluid cardiges.” DP laughs “Oh thanks Tim for taking care of the jacket, I’ll take it back since we’ve got to take Kingpin to jail. I swear I’m always doing more paperwork then I want to”

“Ah, well, it was nice of you all to come. Hopefully the next time you are in Gotham it wont be so exciting as this time and you can see more” I say as Tim hands over the jacket as the girls all get ready to leave. I knew i was going to be interrogating Duke later.

Ouughghhg I love all of this. I love this so very very much and I am HAPPILY aboard the AU - oh, ha Accidentally Undercover is AU how funny - train. (I am weak and think many thoughts at all times)

One thing I wonder though! We know what Moon and Sun's specialties are, and have even got to see them at work, but what is *Robin's* specialties? They're a star agent, and great at parkour, but are they a great all-rounder in that sense, or more along the chase and information gathering route? I can imagine them enjoying startling Moon the first few times they get to put their agility into action and jump off somewhere high.

... On a similar train of thought, because brain goes WHIRRR, there is yet Another shenanigan example. Oh yeah, Robin is good at parkour, but so is their landlord! How funny! And happily unexpected! Robin got their "oh no, he's hot" moment @ Sun, but would something like that get the reverse reaction? -����Daye

Extra fun fact! Au is German for Ow! Though it's mostly funnies and little pain (some pain though. definitely some)

Robin's more the break in/ sneaky type too! They have to collect some info too, but mostly parallel Moon/ Dusk in his role, hence why they meet so often! When they got scouted it was clear they excel at parkour, so that's what's expected of them. The allure of employer mandated crime also got to them (:

Moon had a bit of a surprise when a human could keep up with him so well, but pretty quickly just got giddy about the prospect of a rivalry. He does get a moment of "Hey wait a second why is this getting to me" when they take off their gloves the first time to "feel the textures of the city (:" when they parkour back, like a Victorian era gentleman spotting an ankle. He doesn't unpack it at all ~

Sun also gets a "Oh no they're hot" moment"! Most likely when they get to show off, like a target does actually run and he's still in his suit and loafers - don't do parkour in that, guys. Y/N's just like "dw I got this" and then they do. Quickly, efficiently, and maybe with that flair of drama that Sun also likes, and he's like. Oh. Okay. I now see why Moon was so obsessed with this rivalry. And then they all get worse <3

Dusk and Robin regularly have these "oh no that's hot" moments actually but they repress those feelings/ blame the inherent (homo)eroticism of rivalries for that FGDHSJ

Bottom line they're all into highly efficient secret agents, and they are all highly efficient secret agents (once they get past the stupid), so the chaos is predestined!

I really enjoy them because I feel like Horror wouldn't really care for how food tastes, just wants food. Also think they could meet because I am BIG on US being like a "hub area" since I see it as the most peaceful AU and Blue actively helps AU's all the time, think of it like the omega timeline!

Anyways, I think he'd volunteer to help his AU with the whole food issue but give everyone like real food not humans and since Horror doesn't eat humans he DESPERATELY needs it and probably tries to help have everyone eat first before him but Blue forces him to sit and relax and what not. I feel like Horror would be heavily annoyed at seeing someone actually energized and all over the place but find it amusing overtime.

I also feel like with Horror's psychosis if Blue realizes something seems off, reassures him and just squeezes his hand and what not. Also since Horrors clothes are all tattered he'd probably help sew things up for it to look nicer and all that.

Dustberry-

STARS DO I HAVE FEELINGS <3

How I see Dust is that he IS Classic! I have two routes of how 'Classic' just went MIA OR Dust sort of just pretends to be Classic to save face but makes excuses why they cant meet up at his AU but I mainly love the first one!

This heavily influences how I see Dustberry. I feel like when hanging out with Fell and Blue, he'd just crack one day saying how tired he was of resets and what not (I HC Blue doesnt remember them but he knows of them) so Blue just does what he does and tells him it'll be okay and they can figure it out.

OFC this doesn't happen so when he's forced onto NM's team I'd like to think thats around when Blue joins the Stars so their one sided knowing reunion is as enemies. I feel like Dust mentally would be proud of seeing Blue get stronger each fight because Classic mindset. I feel like if he were to tell Blue, Blue would be upset at first but be so happy his friend is at least alive.

Since I HC Dust being an asshole I feel like he'd use 'Classic' as a stab towards Blue to sort of get his way in certain things. They'd def not be good for one another, I can fix him I can make him so much worse trope.

Dreamberry-

I feel as if this could go down many different ways. I feel like it would be mainly one sided though.

I feel like if one sided on Blue's side, Dream wouldn't outright say 'no' because of positivity so would string him along not really getting how messed up it is since being trapped in stone I dont think he's morally all there.

If Dream were to like Blue I don't think he'd say it because he's immortal, he probably loved and watch people die before and can't have it happen again so as long as they're friends thats good enough.

NOW! If they were to date I think it would be very cute!! I think they'd have a lot of date nights but Ink always end up tagging a long because he forgot LOL. I also think it could help Dream and his role as guardian because he is no longer only fighting for himself and his want to get his brother back, but he now has someone to actually fight for as well that isn't just a source to him (to put it lightly).

If he were to follow up on Blue's offer instead of getting decked by Fell, I think despite Stretch's warning Blue would take him in and help him. He'd show him the ropes of the surface, maybe go to the little taco joint, and they both can discover choco tacos together even though Cross might like them more.

If it were to take place like Blue's AU get saved and what not after everything, I think Cross would feel like he is in debt to Blue since his final moments with Blue was him just trying to help and it is his fault why his AU died and what not. I think it might make Blue uncomfortable since I see him as the devoted knight trope so it happening to him might be new and weird but I think they could easily have a talk and what not.

I think it would also be cute for Cross to do a little apology to everyone and Blue just holding his hand as he does so and probably Queen Toriel just giving him a hug LOL.

I also think Cross would help train Blue for the royal guard or whatever the surface equivalent is and probably the only person who could keep up with Blue in all his little tasks and what not since I HC once he gets to the surface he wants to do EVERYTHING so is like that sitcom friend where everyday they have a new job but not bc he got fired just because hes so adventurous LOL.

ive seen the connor human au before but ive never seen anyone elaborate on why human connor hates androids, so im giving a potentional reasoning:

-he waa driving girlfriend and 5 year old daughter were driving to a school play when their car was struck by a drunk driver. connor and his gf survived (though connor maintained a leg injury that rendered him a permanent, slight limp.) unfortuantly, his daughter died on the way to the hospital while under the care of medical androids. his girlfriend left him and moved to canada, unable to handle her grief.

connor does blame himself for his daughter's death, and blames the androids for failing their job (because a human on red ice wouldve been much better /sarcasm).

hes a heavy smoker and drinker, a bitch to everyone, especially gavin, who was his friend before everything went south for connor

my rendition of this au doesnt have hank as the android, but instead has kara as the RK800 model sent by CyberLife. Hank is still there, just a background character. In Kara's place we can have North, I guess. which makes simon Markus's love interest.

in karas deviant path, connor starts to see kara as a daughter figure more. (and both karas name and his daughters name started with a K. his daughters name was Kaitlyn.)

Also I think North being in Kara's place would be.... So so funny and SO chaotic. I mean she and Kara have pretty similar personalities when it comes to how they'd handle their issues (hold at gunpoint, steal, lie, etc) but where Kara tends to be more nurturing in her chaos, North would be more "tough love". Kara already holds up several people at gunpoint, and so would North, but she'd personally give Alice a gun of her own to carry. Alice would say "North, I'm cold" and North would say "you didn't want to wear the sweater I stole for you, I don't wanna hear it".

Alice: North that's stealing! We can't do that!

North: stealing is always morally correct, Alice. So jot that down.

Alice: I don't wanna sleep here

North: and I didn't wanna get stuck as your father's toy and then be on the run for killing his bitchass, but guess what

North wouldn't trust Luther as easily, and may not even let him come along with them. "We can take care of ourselves, we don't need you to protect us". But I feel like as soon as he mentioned having a car they could take, she'd begrudgingly let him come along. I think they'd actually eventually get along well because North would also be willing to do absolutely whatever it took to protect Alice, just like Kara.

And ofc Simon being Markus's love interest is a must dkfhdksjd <3

i think that youre overcomplicating it a little, tbh. if you want to make inner changes, make them. like fr. be the change you want to experience ! BE IT. that was the thing that actually helped me. you know who you wanna be in your mind, yeah ? so take that into your body. for example, let's say you want to feel more understood by others. you start by understanding yourself, THEN actually being the person who understands others. sure you may come across people who misinterpret you, or don't seem to get you, but you extend compassion, you shift your perspective. instead becoming the person who no one understands like you always were, you become the person who is understanding. so you don't take too many misunderstandings along the way personally. next thing you know, new people are coming into your life and they GET you like no one else ever has. suddenly you're having a conversation with a family member, and you feel so understood by them and you're a little thrown off because its not what you're used to, but it is your new normal. LOL this is the first example that came to my mind, but you do this for all things you would like to experience. you start the experience with yourself.

for one i would say don't take it too literally. i lived in the 4d, not by literally living in the 4d. its moreso, a moment by moment thing that happens. its about who you're choosing to be. am i reacting, constantly, from this autopilot place ? or do i show up as the person who is loved now, who is taken care of, who is one with god, who is whatever it is you want. lol thats what it means, living in the 4d. you're living in the 3d, yeah. you're showing up and youre not fighting against whats right in front of you at any given moment. but the place you are coming from, is of your inner world. its from the heaven that is within you. its not from you, being knocked around by angry waves in a 3d ocean. youre one step ahead, in this way. youre okay living your 3d circumstances, but youre showing up at your inner world self. before you have validation or 3d reason to do so. this is why focusing on the feeling of what you want rather than the specific thing you want is so helpful, but if youre so stuck on the thing itself you may be like "well how do i show up as having my db when i hate the way i look !!" well, you focus on the feeling and you operate from that. honestly neville could have stopped at feeling is the secret. lmfao bc he didnt lie. feeling is the secret. do not be afraid to shift your focus off specifics, and shift your focus onto yourself.

you live this way everyday until its literally who you are, and by then you realize how much your life has shifted with you. thats how you do it long term, because you werent waiting for something. you were already being it and you wake up daily, with yourself as your main goal. and that goes on forever, as long as you are in this human body. when you focus on yourself like that, there becomes no restraints from time. you just live, you just are, you just be.

It’s all for his sake - Endeavor and the Sunk Cost Fallacy

My hero academia 301 is a pretty interesting chapter, but for me, the most notable piece of it was how Endeavour reacted to the realization that Touya couldnt surpass All Might.

upon realizing that his son might not be able to do it because of inborn physical limitations, he immediatly stopped his training, which frankly was the responsible and adult thing to do. 

This stint of real parenthood did not last long however.

After taking the matter to a doctor, he is flat out told that not only cant Touya achive what endeavor wants, but it is a direct result of his incredibly selfish and irresponsible attempt to play god, by trying to breed the “perfect” hero into being.

It is how you react when you lose however, that shows who you really are, and endeavor illustrates that very, very well.

Upon being told in no uncertain terms that his attempts at Breeding an heir failed magnificently, producing a child that was not capable of resisting his own immense power, but also admonished by his doctor for even attempting it, and adviced not to try again, Endeavor instead doubled down, while focusing on the child he screwed over from the start with his attempt at genetic manipulation.

It was all for him you see. Endeavor doesnt use those words, but that is how he spins it here. it was all for Touya, all for his sake. if i stop now, then Touya was all for nothing, a mistake, im doing this for my son.

if im doing this for my son, then im not responsible for any of this.

his wife however, calls him out on it, as she understands Touya much, much more than endeavor does. or rather, she sees him fully as a human being, instead of as a thing, a weapon, a failed attempt at an heir.

Unlike Endeavor, Rei is able to see the way this all is affecting her son. She is able to see, and understand that Touya has fully accepted what Endeavor wanted him to be. a stronger, and better version of himself. however, unlike Endeavor, she only cares about him as a person.

Endeavour by comparison isnt completely uncaring about Touya. like most abusive parents, he does possess love for his offspring, but it is forever tainted by the fact that however much he might care, or not care about Touya, any familial love he has for his son is tainted by the fact that to Endeavor, he is a failed experiment, a failed heir, not his child. 

He is the golden child that Endeavor was building up as his true and only heir, who he breed, trained, and molded to for that single purpose, and now that he’s reached a point where he cant continue that legacy.

so, its time to abandon him, and start over new, despite literarily having just learned how stupid this plan was, and that it can, in fact, go completely wrong, with a quirk that will fuck over the person he brings into the world.

Of course, Endeavor doesnt use those words to frame it. there is no way to pretend to be a hero, if you phrase it like that after all. Intead, this is the words he uses.

this is a very important series of panels for a great number of reasons, some that can be debated, argued, and we will probably never know the full truth to the questions because this is a series published in 2020′s shonen jump, and there are things that probably wasnt gonna fly with Hori’s editors, if it was the case.

but lets start with what can not be debated. Endeavor’s words here.

“If we want him to give it up, then we have no choice... Touya... Cant surpass him.”

These are very telling words, and however you believe The third and fourth children of the Todoroki family was concieved, there is not denying the meaning of what he’s saying here.

The only way that my son will stop being an idiot and fall into line, is if we have another baby. that is the only Right way to move forward. it is morally right, because if we dont do this, then he’s going to destroy himself.

there are two ways to interpret this scene.

The charitable way is to read it as the fact that he used Rei’s oldest son’s mental state as a justification of guilting his wife to have a third child, to give this attempt at a superpowered breeding project another shot, despite the fact that they now know that this can lead to a child who is essentially born crippled from his own powers, and despite the fact that Rei obviously understands the effect of them continuing this insanity will have on their oldest son.

the uncharitable way to look at it, is that he used this as justification for flat out raping her, and forcing a third, and then later a fourth child on her.

I personally believe the last one, given a number of factors shown in this chapter(the way this page is framed, the fact Rei obviously didnt want a third child, given she predicted exactly how touya would react, the way her eyes would latet turn when she looks at who is presumably touya which really brings to mind how she would later react to her youngest son’s face after her mental breakdown, etc.), but i’ll frankly admitt that withouth a direct quote from Hori, its impossible to know for sure one way or another. 

either way however, this is a very good example of Endeavor both being influenced by, and using Sunk Cost Fallacy to justify bringing another potentially crippled child into the world for his own, selfish goals.

sunk cost Fallacy, is a mental reaction to when you invest more time and resources into a project, that you becomes so emotionally invested into said project that you will continue to invest into it, even if it reaches a point that it becomes clear that the resources you put into it, far, far outweighs the potential gains you can achieve.

because if you give up after having invested years, and years of effort to breed, raise, and train a kid, and then all that effort was absolutely wasted. hence he choose to keep going, despite having learned what a terrible idea this is.

He doesnt care about the fact that his next child might be even more crippled than his firstborn, he doesnt care about his son’s actual wellbeing. he cares about the fact that if he doesnt continue this insanity, then not only will he not achieve his dreams, but everything he did to get to this point was for absolutely nothing.

and endeavor cannot accept that. and so long as he can justify breeding more children into the world, and there being any chance they might inherit both quirks perfectly, he doesnt care about anything else.

and the moment he realised that this kid wasnt gonna cut it either, he did it again. it is not a coincidence, that the age gap between Endeavor’s second, third, and fourth children were all 3-4 years apart. because thats the age where you can usually tell when a quirk will manifest or not, as established earlier in the series.

While she isnt brought up directly by Endeavor as a justification, it is very telling that Endeavor decided on having a third child, only after his second child was old enough that he could tell that that there was no chance she could take the place as his heir instead.

So, he had his third child, and as time passed and it became obvious that he wasn’t gonna be able to fulfill Endeavor’s goals either, he dumped him, and instead breed a fourth child into existence.

and finally, he struck gold. he did it. he produced Shoto.

everything was finally worth it, and now, everything would be absolutely fine. the cost fallacy had reached its end, and it was now all full sails ahead.

except of course it wasnt.

His oldest son, now in middle school, had been raised from birth to believe he would surpass his father, only to be thrown away, and getting to see his father try to replace him, not once, but twice.

frankly, this scene is probably my favorite in the chapter, because it goes to show Endeavor’s mindset. Natsuo made a point that their father completely ignored his older children. and he did... from Natsuo’s perspective. however, having a more thourough picture of things, we can clearly see that this wasnt the case with Touya.

Endeavor genuinly cared for Touya, enough that once he got that child he tried to breed into existence 4 times, he genuinly wanted him to just abandon trying to be a hero. he genuinly thinks of himself as a good dad here, wanting his son to abandon the mission he set out for him before he was born. of course, with context, this heartwarming scene is incredibly sad and insidious, because we understand why Endeavor got so attached to his oldest child. because he WAS the golden child. he was the child Endeavor genuinly cared about, and invested in, and trained personally with great warmth and enthusiasm.

And not only did he abandon him as a failed project the moment he realized he wasnt gonna live up to his ridiculous standards, but he literarily created 2 more kids to try and replace him, just as his oldest son was old enough to understand what exactly his dad was doing. over the course of this chapter, we get to see Touya’s start as a 5-8 year old, his deteriorating mental state over the years, until he finally seemed to reach the breaking point with Shoto’s birth sometime in his middle school years 12-15. 

Endeavor is in this scene, just not capable of understanding why Touya so desperately wants to become a hero, when obviously he isnt physically able to do so. he isnt able to understand that he is 100% to blame for the fact that his son is having a full emotional breakdown after literaly being replaced by his siblings. 

In other words, Endeavor genuinly think’s he’s a good person. a person who has made a few mistakes along the way sure, but a person who was always justified in the end, and now that he’s having to face the fact that as dabi would later say “The past never dies” and has to face the aftermath of his inane attempt to play god for the pettiest of reasons, things simply arent going to work out.

He isnt going to have a happy family, who can now put the awful early years behind them, he put way too much effort, caused too much suffering and sacrificed too many years of his life for this not to work out as he wants.

after all, if he walks away from this project now, and lets Shoto have a normal childhood, and decide for himself, with no pressure from him, wheter or not to become a hero, then the sunk cost fallacy will have reached a negative end. it will all have been for nothing.

and we know he did eventually double down on this mentality, literarily beating into Shoto that he WAS going to become a hero, and there was not but’s or no’s about it.

there was no way that Endeavor was EVER going to let things be for nothing. His treatment of his older children could not be for nothing. His treatment of his wife could not be for nothing. His treatment of Shoto, and the way he beat him black and blue to train him, could not be for nothing.

Because if it all was for nothing, if everything he feels guilty about was for absolutely nothing, then he was in fact, a bad, bad person, who had no justification for anything he ever did.
