Cilantro-Lime Margarita !

Ingredients:

1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves with stems

1 cup fresh lime juice, about 8 large and juicy limes

1/4 cup agave syrup, more or less to taste

4 ounces tequila silver, more or less to taste

Instructions:

Place cilantro into a cocktail shaker or large glass. Add in the lime juice and muddle until the cilantro is bruised. Pour in the agave and shake or stir until combined.

Rub the rim of the glass with lime and then dip the rim into a plate of kosher salt.

Fill glasses with ice and desired amount of tequilla (I use about 3-4 tablespoons or 1-1/2 to 2 ounces). Then divide the cilantro lime mixture, pouring through the strainer to catch any leaves.

Add a few limes and cilantro for garnish and sip!

I have 0 issue if someone doesn't personally want to eat honey. The thing that fucks me off beyond measure, is when a certain type of vegan is very concerned about bee welfare- but not at all about agricultural workers. Honey alternatives are made by human people, and I believe agave nectar is especially labour intense.

I'll do anything I can to reduce animal suffering, and as the others have said above, there's no evidence that's happening to bees specifically, but even if it was, not at the cost of human life and wellbeing.

vegans making honey a bee labour issue is the funniest thing imaginable because like, you picked the one animal that has already unionised

I'm vegetarian, planning on going vegan when I can afford it, so I know how annoying it is when people try to "ERMM BUT ACKSHUALLY-" about your diet (which isn't anyone else's business) and ethical choices, but beekeeping really is important yall. I promise the bees are OK. We need healthy pollinators now more than ever in the face of mass pesticide use and climate change, and beekeepers are helping. Maybe if you're worried about the environment buy it in glass jars if you can though (less plastic waste + honey is like indefinitely shelf stable which is honestly kind of amazing but plastic isn't and can leech into the honey after a while, so if you want it to last longer, glass is the way to go) but supporting local beekeepers is actually very important to the lives of pollinators (not just honeybees! The flowers that are important to beekeepers are also important to other species of bees and other pollinators like butterflies and wasps!) and we should keep that in mind.
