The thing about jonmartin is that Martin wants to be a romantic, he loves poetry and probably watches romance but for him it is a fantasy, a silly game he plays. Martin is at his core very cynical. Things don't work out for him so he doesn't really belive in romance, it is a pretty dream but that's it. He is pratical and realist. Dating Jon he has to remind himself it is real and he actually struggles with romantic gestures, it is something he has to remind himself to do, to remind himself he can do even and honestly who even has the energy and what if Jon doesn't even like it?

Jon on the other hand wants to be cynical. His first coping mechanism was pretend the things he was afraid of weren't real and goddam if he isn't afraid of love. It didn't really work to him so far so it's easy to pretend he doesn't care. But he is a romantic at heart. He saw love and he read about it and he has enough evidence that it is undeniable. And to be honest Jon was always to much a bunch of mushy feelings hidden in a grumpy (and bitter and afraid) trench coat. Dating Martin he has to hold himself so he isn't too much. He plays the grumpy unromantic guy at first. But he just can't stop giving flowers and planing dates (this is the guy that saw a theme park on a fear domain and considered how he wanted to take Martin to a romantic ferris whell date [until he discovered Martin was afraid of them]) and making all the silly things one does when in love.

TR: Martin is deep down very cynical about love but wants to/pretends to be a romantic and Jon is deep down very romantic but wants to/pretends to be cynical about love.

Victor made some big bags of fruit sugar and potato flour, which I discovered to my delight DID fit on the SrslySims consignment shelves, so I put those out to sell later. Smiler then took over the bulk processor to make a couple of flavored milks (which they tried to put in the bathroom *sigh*) and a box of vegetarian MREs while Victor fizzed up some grape juice and then improved the infuser on the fizzing machine to make better quality products. And Alice concentrated on doing some more canning and preserving, making mushroom conserves and blackberry jam -- at least until the stove broke. Yeah, uh, I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep trying to can stuff on a stovetop with an OPEN FLAMING GAS JET on it! Alice didn’t think so either, and fortunately was able to fix it without issue.

-->Around that time, though, I noticed that Victor and Alice’s needs were tanking -- Victor was hungry and tired, while Alice was hungry and Furious thanks to her werewolf temperaments objecting to all the time spent indoors. And given Smiler was still without that much to do, I decided it was time to head home. But not before taking a few shots of the shelves -- yeah, fine, there’s still a lot of huge gaps, but they’re still looking better than they did before! Things are indeed coming along!

-->And so it was back to the farm for the trio, where I immediately noticed a bunch of the wind turbines were busted again. >.< I promptly put Smiler on repair duty and annoyedly checked the “bills information” to see how that was affecting our ability to build my desired electrical surplus. . .

And saw that said surplus had jumped from a mere 3 energy from before they left to 73. O.o Oookay, uh -- power issues finally solved? Mostly? We hope? Fingers crossed!

I feel like in the chaos of things they kinda glossed over possibly the most viscerally horrifying scene and concept in the show, ie; “…where did all the blood go?” “that was the last me,” and charles slowly lifting his lantern up to see the doll spider literally tearing edwin– not just a replica of edwin but literally the body of edwin from just a minute or two earlier– apart limb from limb, torn in half at the waist. then as he moves the lantern a bit to the side he’s met with an entire bloody pile of dismembered, decapitated, eviscerated edwin parts, from god knows how many killings.

like. charles must have persistent fucking nightmares about that right? in the moment he was focused on getting out of there and had to stomach it to move on, but afterwards? i think that must legitimately be the most gruesome, graphic thing he’s ever seen in his entire life/afterlife. i can’t think of anything that could be worse than that. it’s bad enough on it’s own, the live, constant mutilation happening to anyone, but then on top of it all it’s not just anyone– it’s his best friend, the most important person in the world to him.

ghosts can’t exactly sleep, but he must at least get flashbacks, or be triggered on occasion to an extent that makes him feel sick. i dont even know what that'd do to a person honestly, but it'd be hard (if not impossible) even for a pro-internalizer like charles to suppress that memory completely and not be tortured by it for an indefinite amount of time.

Cosmo and Wanda have seen humans at their best. They've seen humans at their worst. They've seen anything and everything that they've gone numb and used to what humans get up to.

But nothing's shaken them quite like Timmy's case did. Nothing has ever made a Fairy feel such strong human emotions than what Timmy made them feel, on that one particular night.

The thing that broke Cosmo and Wanda was Timmy himself.

We laugh at sci-fi for how it over-explains technology, but we also need to make fun of how Victorians describe any time period that takes place more than ten years before the book's publishing date.

It's like if we wrote like this about the '80s or '90s.

According to the curious fashions of the day, she wore a shirt of tie-dye print. It may seem quaint to our modern sensibilities, but such colorful styles were a common sight in any public street of those times.

I get that the lack of video and audio recording made it harder for future generations to experience the details of the past, and that technology was changing their world at a faster rate than ever before, but also, dude, it was only, like, forty years ago, so maybe chill out a bit.
