Subaru Impreza WRX STi WR1, 2004, by Prodrive. Prodrive Advanced Technology are best know for their work with Subaru's WRC team. The WR1 was a special edition of 500 cars to celebrate Petter Solberg winning the Driver’s Title in the 2003 World Rally Championship. It was modified by Prodrive to produce 320hp and was equipped with a driver’s control centre-differential (DCCD) that allowed torque distribution between front and rear wheels to be manually selected.

Can I just say?
Yes, Carlos does perhaps open the radio a lot and- to do what?
To complain if someone is doing what he thinks might be a move against the rules (like everyone else).
To discuss strategies (like everyone else).
To give his opinion and ask the team for a change in strategies (like some other people).
To sing with his race engineer after a victory (like some other people).
To complain when the outcome of a decision is not right (as he did or did not expect, but still, like everyone else).
To say that he’s alright after a nasty crash (like everyone else).
He does use the radio a lot, but he uses it for the right motifs, so yes- Sky Italia, he doesn’t open the radio for other reasons than the one written right here, which makes a big difference.

extra notes below the cut
band on heavy's shirt is iron maiden
snipers tattoo on his arm is called ta moko! its a type of maori tattoo :-D on that note, i also headcanon him as maori, which is the little black/red/white flag on his jacket. oh, and i headcanon him as a trans butch lesbian, which is why he has the trans and lesbian flag on his jacket. i have a lot of headcanons for him lol
also the band on snipers shirt is "bondage fairies", my fave punk band of all time. theyre hella underrated! the patches on his pants are "sex pistols" and "the ramones"
the band tee that scout is wearing is "bring me the horizon"

post i made last night actually got me Thinking about what on earth i'm gonna do with the nationals so i did some doodles to get my ideas out. the concept is that they all still represent their countries but i completely removed the flags from their designs and just based them on real trains. these are subject to change but the base idea is there

Decided to draw him in my style since I'm still struggling with the show's style, heh. I should probably sit down to do a proper study one of these days. But I'm happy with how this turned out! Still getting the hang of using an iPad (I was gifted one in my art absence on here, so no more phone drawing for me unless I'm posting old stuff).
I also have a doodle page that I did before this, and a comic:

Image #1 text:
"Okay, either Sixer used his nerd brain to make some science glasses, or all those punches ta the head are finally catching up to me."
*Can almost see clearly.*
*Gave him my astigmatism*
*Drew him in my style*
Image #2
"???"
"You forgot the eight, Sixer."
"Oh, thank you, Stanley!"
"Wait, WHAT."

Franklinheads, what is your top pet peeve when it comes to perceptions of the [historical] Franklin Expedition?
Mine is 100% the "most advanced technology of their day" concept of HMS Erebus and Terror. I think the origins of this are in the 1980s, when Owen Beattie's ice mummy exhumations propelled the Franklin Expedition into the spotlight. JUST LIKE THE SPACE SHUTTLE CHALLENGER!—this was the pat comparison of the day. You could definitely draw some parallels if you tried hard enough, but no, I don't think the Space Shuttle Challenger is a very good analogy.
There was pretty much nothing unique or particularly new about the technology in Franklin's ships—not the tinned food, not the desalinator, not the heating system, and definitely not the puny steam engines—and Franklin's men knew this! They were aware that Erebus and Terror were beat-up old warships, one of the ships fought in the War of 1812 before most crew members were born! Fitzjames called them "old tubs," and Le Vesconte jokingly compared them to 17th and 18th century fictional vessels (Red Rover and Water-Witch).
Steam frigates with hundreds of horsepower were built even in the 1830s! But they couldn't carry fuel lasting for years; whereas Franklin's men had ~13 days of coal for their 20-horsepower engines, which at most might get them out of a harbour in unfavourable winds. As a child I read books that made such a big deal about the steam engines, I really thought they would be under steam all the time, crashing through the ice with their Advanced Technology just like the space shuttle.
If anything, the Franklin Expedition is part of a tradition of the British using obsolete ships and technology for polar exploration. Compare Terra Nova with the latest technology of the 1910s: she looks like the relic of an earlier age that she was.

My Sniper analysis has blown up a bit recently (probably something to do with the multiple reblogs involving complaining about scout and spy mischaracterisation) so uh. Who should I talk about next

do u think... Do you think sometimes when the team has a movie night, when they watch those 60's action war movies like "Von Ryan's Express" and "Battle of the Bulge" or spaghetti westerns like "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and "Death Rides on a Horse," Soldier pauses during or right after fight scenes or duels or whatever to obsessively overanalyze them. Like, he'll try and turn them into strategies to use on the job, takes, uhm, 'notes', (tactical doodles,) sets up nerdy models using a whiteboard map and improvised figurines, uses these examples when he does those psyche-up pre-battle speeches or during strategy meetings.
'Cause I bet he does, I bet he does that, and it completely kills the momentum of the movie to the point where the rest of the team gets disinterested and slowly leaves him behind to do their own thing.
I genuinely bet Engie wouldn't though, nah, I bet he's enough of a patient kind of gentle kind of man willing to stick through these pauses 'cause he's just that into the movie. And maybe he's just a teeny bit into Soldier's dissections of actiony chaos. Maybe gleans a bit of an understanding of Soldier's thinking that way. Admires the guy's passion about his 'research,' how thoughtfully he gathers details in an effort to help the team. Starts mixing in tapes for these sorts of movies more regularly to their movie night pool maybe subconsciously, maybe on purpose. The rest of the team doing their own movie night. losers.
