When I started collecting BJDs, I was really into the 1/4 scale dolls. I've collected a few of the larger dolls, too, and a gaggle of tinies.

But the "Yo-SD" size didn't grab me. I'm not that into baby dolls or child-dolls. My mom had been collecting in that style, though, and wanted me to be able to play with her. So I found a strange catgirl YO that I liked, and mom got her for me for my birthday.

I have a collection of that size now, and they are all peculiar in some way.

Ginger is the pirate, they are my NB kiddo. They love to share clothes with everybody.

Gala is a Lekeworld Soda Ent, and she is the de facto leader. Kitty is my original, she's an Impldoll Aimee, and Bruce is a 5 Star BatBoy. (He's in character as "Damien.")

my first fairyland bjd, a complete impulse purchase.

she is very cute, but i think i do regret her a bit. i paid about $340 for her impulsively bc denver doll had her in stock and i live in the area so i could just go pick her up. i wanted a little doll to take around with me places so i picked her up.

she’s about the same price as my dollzone msd boy was, and i’m disappointed w the fitting of the faceplate and the seam lines! i wasn’t aware that fairyland is known for having such exaggerated seam lines. arm, torso, neck.

obviously you can’t tell the faceplate is ill fitting w a wig on i just never noticed anything like this in any unboxing video i watched!

anyways, she’s cute! just have a few grievances with her… not sure if i love the faceup but i do love her sculpt. i’ll definitely enjoy her more when i can pick up some clothes and maybe a different wig i feel fits her better. maybe something dark, and eventually get rid of the blue eyeshadow. i think i want to try sewing her some things, and work on a faceup for my yosd boy.

in other news, still waiting on my supia girl. obviously. it’s literally been like less than a month LOL. i couldn’t resist from getting a new doll i had money burning in my pocket and aGhh now i’ll have 4 dolls 2 girls and 2 boys. definitely won’t go crazy and buy any more for a while bc some gift buying events are coming up.

Doll Show! (and goodwill/my friend!!!) haul!!!!

This year the creator of strawberry shortcake was there. so there was a LOT of original strawberry dolls and toys, and a WHOLE LOT of ADORABLE costumes!!! I had strawberry shortcake toys as a kid in the early 2000s, but I didn't see any of those at the show.

Super happy with my purchases this year! I was also super lucky to have my tax return hit right before the show, so I went a liiiiitle overboard with the monster high dolls. Ghoulia and Cupid are grails, and Robecca and Spectra aren't grail status but they were right up there on the ISO list. Lagoona was just really pretty and had her fins and was only 15 bucks.

I got some skrm accessories as well, lagoonas knee pads and and wheel love gils knee pads, also ghoulias skates. skrm is so weird but one of my favorite lines, it's just so unique!

I got my very first (sort of) BJDs as well! I'll talk more about them in a bit because oh no i am in love.

Last thing from the doll show is an AG ballet outfit. it was only 15 bucks and something I'd been looking to get! so, yay!!! I had originally intended for it to be given to corinne, my (at the time) only American girl doll, but as you can see in the second pic, that has changed.

I have weirdly good luck finding AG dolls at the thrift, and today I got VERY lucky! I've actually found an Addy before, a PC one O_O but she went to live with my cousin, I was a bit sad to see her go so im happy to find another, this one is a 2008 but I really don't mind modern AG dolls, and shes so darling!!! I tried the ballet outfit on her last night and it belongs to her now x3 she's going to be a dancer.

Found another bratz board game! It's complete as well which is awesome. it wasn't used at all, for good reason, it's very convoluted, like monopoly but weirder. I now have Make Me Up, Mall Crawl, Passion 4 Fashion, Bratz Twister, and the 2015 bratz CIY Shoppe Game. even if i don't play them I like to have them for the boxes x3

My friend who I brought to the doll show with me gave me a few of her childhood hamtaros! some are fakies but they're all adorable! She and I also got the BJDs together, hers is the Sakura one and mine is the grey haired one, we ended up swapping faces for a while lol. I got one of the boy BJDs too, I definitely got my least favorite of the options but he is cute! He just needs new pants.

Overall, what an awesome day! I'm so happy I got to go buy pretty dolls and see my friends!!

Love these!

1. I got interested in bjds sometime around middle school when I first found the Gothic Lolita Bible at Borders. I was obsessed with lolita fashion and saw the photos of dolls wearing the fashion as well (mainly Super Dollfies and Pullips). I immediately wanted one sooooo bad because I knew I wouldn't like actually wearing Lolita myself, but would love to have a doll that could wear it for me lol.

2. The first ones I remember seeing and knowing the identity of were Dollfie Dream Moe and Natsuki (1st ver) that were being advertised on volks' site. I instantly fell in love with Moe immediately and fell down the DD rabbit hole.

3. Definitely anime style dolls, specifically girls with hime bangs and upward tilted eyes and lashes. Dolls wearing lolita or other j-fashion (esp from the late 2000s-early 2010s) as well.

4. I used to think I liked bigger 60cm dolls, but I feel like they're a bit too big for me to comfortably move and carry around. I think 45-50cm is more my ideal size.

5. Oooh this is hard. I think Volks' quality is amazing, especially with the outfits. In terms of dolls themselves I think I like more 1/3 Azones than DDs though. I think it's amazing that the Iris Collects use 1 face sculpt but look completely different from each other, and their full set outfit designs are adorable. The Obitsu body is also awesome.

6. Definitely vinyl! I like normal plastic for smaller dolls too, but I like the softness and lightness of vinyl compared to resin.

7. Yes! She's a DDdy Miko. I saved my money all through high school to get her.

8. DD Yuki is literally so pretty that it actually makes it kinda hard to choose outfits for her since she'll just look good in everything. It's impossible for her to look bad. She's so so pretty and her wig is actually soft for a Volks wig I'm obsessed with her.

9. I prefer dolls that are just dolls tbh. I tend to make up their character after I have them, rather than before. I would feel like I need to choose outfits that would be in character for a licensed doll that I know the character of so that it won't look jarring on them.

10. I haven't, but I would love to go to one! It's too bad that I live in the middle of nowhere. I think there's a US doll's party in LA occasionally? If I could, I would maybe like to go there.

11. Ehhhh...I wanted to take lots of photos when I started, but finding good places for photos, dragging my dolls out to pose, and getting a decent shot with my crappy cellphone camera is kind of a pain. I might try to create a flickr account and post more casual photos there, since I would scroll through countless doll photos there as a kid. It seems less edited and perfectionist than instagram.

12. Not yet, but I'll have to when I move. I don't think I'd actually want to travel with a big bjd though, since I'd be so worried about her getting damaged or losing accessories. Plus you can't have them on you 24/7. I would like to do it with a small licca-chan or barbie though.

13. It was DD Yuki Morikawa. I'm still so in shock that I was actually able to get her in my lifetime! I haven't had any other grails since.

14. A pretty male DDP would be awesome. I don't normally like male dolls, but the ddp body is so cute and dainty looking, I think it would suit a pretty boy perfectly.

15. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $12 FOR DOLL SHOES IT'S A SCAM.

Also, way more clothes and parts will likely be able to fit your doll than people will say. My dddy fits into blouses and skirts for the dd L bust. An obitsu L bust fit onto my Azo2 body perfectly. My angel philias both were able to perfectly put on busts that others said they couldn't. If an item has any stretch (or if a soft vinyl part can be heated) it will likely be able to fit, so don't stress about only getting stuff specifically designed for your model of doll!

I required a "boost me up" lately so for my birthday I offered myself one of RingDoll's Lucky Bags =^.^= I was delighted when J-N appeared before me ! This is exactly the body type I was hoping for, and J-N is absolutely adorable! The cutest boy, half priced new bjd, I'm in a dreamland!

For fun, I made J-N try my other head's wigs. Of course they don't fit since I tailor them to fit each models perfectly, but it's fun to see which style and colour might fits him best ^^ I wonder how I'll paint/dress him up... Will I give him a series character? an OC? Would he fit in my new dragon/demon craze? Or will he enter my bjd cat family despite not being specifically modeled as one?

So much to dream about ^^

I got huge Halloween/birthday package from my dear friend @concentrated-oj 🎃🎉 I love this birthday card with skeletons it's adorable, also I got some special cards from amusement park and glowing in the dark stickers with dinosaurs.

I was so happy to get beanie boos sheep that I didn't have before and new Care bear teddy. In package was so many cute toys - Stitch bubble head and backpack that I will give to my bjd boy Kiku. Here is Fantasy friend doll (my first doll) 😍 new monster and sneakers for Barbies. Candies I'm going to take in my trip.

hey i saw you like doll chateau. i have one of their 1/6 limited dolls and tbqh i def recommend. poseability is limited at that scale but the the aesthetic is amazing. you can check ebay and insta for second hand sales. damaged dolls can go for cheap if you dont mind fixing them. also if you like weird dolls dream valley and miracle doll have some really cool sculpts

i know but my dream doll is the Alva head on a k-12 body and dangerously, denver doll has a layaway option.....

its already going to take 6+ months to get here, might as well just have the smaller hits over a few months jfjdjfjfj

context for those who dont keep up with bjds: the alva sculpt is only a few months old, id recon that theres probably folk who ordered it on release day and still dont have it yet so theres not a way in hell at getting the alva head second hand for at least a year. and the k-12 bodies are delicate and fidly so a lot of them on the second hand market are in Rough shape and i just dont trust myself with that level of repair work. plus i Really like the white skin for doll chateau sculpts and everything id find on the second hand market will be Way to yellowed to go with a new alva head in white

and like i know the alva heads neck hole is slightly to big for the k-12 body but .5 centimeter difference is easy enough to fix with a little suede since ill probably be sueding a lot of his joints anyways. this boy is getting an elaborate fit and hes going to need the suede to keep his pose djdj. like i knkw doll chateau is kinda known for possibility especially on the k 12 bodies but Still jfjdjd

and aslo??? i don't know how ive never seen these companies before but i Love them????? im dying because i Adore all of the miracle dolls But Damn Those Prices Huh??? ima have to hunt around on DOA/ ebay if i even want to dream a dream djdjjd

and the doll valley clorise is just Ideal??? i just wish i could find a boy body for her face i liked. tbh if i do ever get a clorise id probably snag a doll chateau boy body to go with it. dbdbbd. like i know her sculpt is meant for the girl body and those are lovely, i just prefer boys, and im a simp for doll chateau fjjfnfjf

15. What is the strangest doll you own?

My collection is relatively tame compared to some of the more conceptual dolls in the BJD community, or say, Novi Stars, but to the non-collector, I think my custom Gooliope Jellington, a 17 inch neon green haired radioactive pink blob doll is a pretty weird ghoul.

That said, I absolutely adore her. She's one of the crown jewels of my collection

20. Have any doll-related stories? Such as, did you ever have to fist fight someone in the aisle at walmart for a doll?

Okay so one time a million years ago when I was still working at Target, I turn the corner to go sniff around the doll aisle, which had just been reset, and this adorable little boy is there all by himself all alone gazing lovingly up at the Barbies. It still breaks my heart to think of the look on that poor kids face when he thought I'd "caught" him, and how quickly he hightailed it outta there.

I probably would have bought him a whole damn dreamhouse and a doll for every room if he wanted if we had exchanged more than two words 🥺😭

This jacket was made by the wonderful tailor AZNButterfly way, way back in the day, before the advent of the SD17 size. SD13!Eric used to swim in this piece, but it fits the Gou body very nicely.

I’ve been a BJD owner for coming up on 20 years, and I made a stupid rookie error with a pair of glasses that scratched the boy’s sealant. It does not affect my adoration of the boy; I always knew he was too dear to me to avoid wear and tear. I just regret the stupidity.
