Semester 1 of 3rd year ended on a high, i managed to get above 75% in all my units which I was quite happy with. I finished my 3 week hospital placement in the Acute Medical Unit and it was so intense but such an amazing learning experience, and then thankfully got a 3 week break to relax and get out of the city for a few days.
I really needed a break, my vyvanse was severely impacting my sleep and for most of prac I was on the verge of a menty b but I have change to short acting Dex and that seems to be working better for me!
Semester 2 has started and I am feeling ready and motivated! First Class Honours, I am coming for you!

Okay so I have to study at home with my fucking yEeHaW ADHD
I AM on medication but ??? Ya know?
I made a study environment with a desk and a chair and I COULDNT STUDY and I COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHY SO
PRO ADHD STUDY TIP: if you can, lie down on the floor to read/study.
I found that sitting in a desk chair meant my arms and legs and butt had too much freedom and needed to be engaged with things which = Distractions™️
Lying down on my stomach gave my whole body sensation/stimulation/grounding AND my big idiot head has less room to swivel around and see distracting things.

How I Got Straight A’s 3 Terms in a Row
Tumblr media
Some people just seem to breeze through school, never study and get all A’s all the time; I am NOT that student. I work just as hard as I need to to get the grades that I want. But the trick to getting the grades you want isn’t just about studying your brains out, it’s about studying and planning strategically.
Prepare the summer before the school year starts. This doesn’t necessarily mean studying. Go online and search for the curriculum for each class you will be taking. In Canada, you will find this information on your province’s Ministry of Education website. The curriculum will tell you EXACTLY what you will be learning. Now you can use this information however you like. You can review last year’s material where you can see it will be helpful. You can make one online document per unit and find links/videos/diagrams online that will help you when you eventually learn that unit, this will give you a preview and now you have a online study guide to help you when you learn it in class. You can teach yourself the material and make in depth notes for yourself.
Always know your grade +/- 2%. You should always, always, always, know where you stand in all your classes. Some students are able to check their grades live online, I would recommend checking your grade after every assignment that gets handed back. If you do not have that option, I would suggest having a notebook (or a bullet journal!) with a page (or two) for each class. Record the name of the assignment, the date you submitted it and the grade you received back (as a percentage and a fraction). This is a great way to see how you are doing and where you are falling short. It is also helpful when you have finals, you can visually see where you struggled throughout the year. If report cards are coming out soon and you know you’re a couple points off, make the assignments for that class a priority.
Prioritize. If you’re spending hours doing one minor assignment when you have a big test the next day, you need to reevaluate. Yes I know, smaller assignments are more fun because they’re super satisfying when you finish them, but you must prioritize your assignments. I rank my assignments according to how much it is worth, how well I know the subject, time it will take to complete and how close the deadline is.
Study sessions and homework time. It has been scientifically proven that doing homework in this order is the best to prevent procrastination. Small assignment --> Larger assignment --> Break. Give yourself a time limit on the smaller assignment and your break time. Do not limit yourself on the larger assignment. Make sure your environment is well lit and you’ve chosen wisely whether or not to work in a quiet or loud place. Have water and snacks, try and save your snacks for during your break as an incentive.
Do homework in the library at lunch. This might seem pretty lame to some people but if you can get some friends to join you, even if they’re not doing work, it can honestly be really fun. I find that when I get home from school, I’m usually exhausted and don’t even want to think about homework. If you do your homework while you're already at school and in that mindset, trust me it makes its SO much easier to work.
Grades aren’t what you want? Talk about it. Seriously talk to your teacher if your grades aren't what you want them to be at. Some teachers will omit quiz marks or give you extra assignments. Sometimes if you really beg they’ll let you retest. Do not underestimate what your teachers will do. You don’t know unless you try! Plus teachers will see that you really do care about their class, which means they might mark you a little easier if they know your goal grade.

Dear ADHD and Autistic followers who are in school or are studying:
I have a friend who is wondering if they are ADHD. They are having issues with memory and aphasia. Their school is very small and doesn't necessarily have accommodations.
And they're having trouble with studying, memory recall, and word recall - you know, that brain fog or freeze related to Aphasia, where you can't think of a word or it's the wrong word (example: looking at an apple and calling it tomato, forgetting the word elbow and frantically pointing at it or calling it arm joint thing, etc). We also may have a case of auditory processing problems.
Here's her main question:
"My question was about my memory issues, I often times find myself hearing something but unable to process the information and was wondering if you have discovered anything that could help with that like ways to study for exams of just general in my day to day life actively."

Hey guys! I’m Emma and I’m a senior in mechanical engineering! I was diagnosed with ADHD and Dysgraphia when I was 17 and over the last 6 years, I’ve found a few helpful sites and apps for managing them. I hope you enjoy them and find them helpful as well! If you have anything to add, feel free!
Noisli
- Noisli is a website that has a variety of different white noises. You can combine them together or listen to one at a time! It’s super helpful when you want to have some sound, but get distracted by music. I pretty much always have it running in the background when I’m studying. The interface is super simple so it’s not distracting to look at.
Calmly
- If you have Dysgraphia you know how frustrating writing papers can be. Staring at a blank word document trying to get words to come out is the absolute worst. So Calmly is, in my opinion, the BEST word processor for writing papers. It’s a blank page with no distractions, but you can change the background color, the font color, the font, the spacing, everything. But the best part is that it has the Dyslexic font available. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a font that is designed to be easier for people with Dyslexia to read, and I’ve found that it helps with the Dysgraphia as well. Another really cool feature is called Focus Mode, where the only thing highlighted on the screen is the paragraph you’re working on.
Grammarly
- You’ve probably already seen Grammarly by now, but in case you haven’t, I figured I would throw it in. With Dysgraphia I find that by the time I finally have my paper written, I don’t have any brain power left to edit. But Grammarly is really helpful because it not only helps with spelling, but it helps with sentence structure and grammar rules as well.
Other Random Tips
- Change the font: I’ve found that even if you don’t use the Dyslexic font, changing the font from the standard Times or Cambria font, to something more smooth like Arial or Calibri makes a big difference.
- Change the color: I’ve also found changing the font color or the paper color (or both!) to be helpful. Something about the black font on a white background makes my brain not happy, so changing the colors around makes reading and writing just a little bit easier.
- Find some books or cheat sheets or other reference material for the things you’re struggling with. Spark Charts is a really good company that makes cheat sheets for everything you could ever want (that's an exaggeration but still). I have some for science and math stuff and units that I use often being an engineer. They’re a good reference to have for those inevitable lapses in memory. I also have a book for writing, it’s this one. It’s something I’ve had for 6 years, and I always have it out when I’m writing anything. It has info on outlines, citations, etc. and it’s just handy to have.
- If Noisli isn’t your thing, but music is distracting, I’ve found this binaural beat to be really helpful with focus.
- Accommodations: They’re there for a reason! I’ve used them before, and they really helped. Don’t think it’s weak to use them, it’s not, they just help level the playing field. Also, don’t think that because you use them once you have to use them forever, I don’t currently use them but I will if I feel like I need them again. Most importantly, don't deny yourself the help you need just because you feel like you shouldn’t need them! Which leads me to my next point...
- Therapy/Medication: I’ve been in therapy and on medication for ADHD since I was 17, and they’ve really changed my life. Therapy and medication are nothing to be ashamed of!
(Okay now I’m gonna tag some people cause I have like... 13 followers lol)

Hi there! I’m Quinn. I use he/ him and/or they/ them pronouns. I’ve been into the whole ~studyblr aesthetic~ for a while, and with my senior year coming up (and then on to college?? What the heck) I decided to make one. Hopefully, it will make me more likely to put effort into studying, which I haven’t really done before.
About me:
I’m 17 years old, and a high school senior (class of 2019, woot-woot!)
I’m transgender and nonbinary
I’m from Phoenix, AZ
I’m an INTP, Slytherin... and a Pisces
I have really bad ADHD
Interests:
I love to write! I keep saying this will be the year that I complete NaNoWriMo, but...
I’m into anime and manga
Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies
I’m one of those people that’s really, really torn between STEM and the arts, so oof
Classes I’m taking next year:
AP Calculus
Dual enrollment (honors) English
Honors anatomy/ physiology
Half-semester honors creative writing, half-semester art history
Firefighting/EMS
Goals:
Post at least once a week with original stuff (notes, journal pages (not bujo), photography)
Apply to all the colleges on my list
Go up at least 3 points on the ACT
Finish out at least 250 hours of community service (I’m at (at least) over 150 right now!)
Continue my all A streak
Get a job (I’ve applied to so many places (;﹏;) and no one has even emailed to say no thanks...)
Inspiration:

I love your stuff so much! Thanks for inspiring me to make my own!
I need more studyblrs to follow too. Like or reblog and I’ll check your blog out!

You reblog a lot of studyblr stuff, so I was wondering if you could rec any good studyblrs about studying with adhd/autistic studying?
I track #adhd studyblr so I end up seeing posts made by students with ADHD more often, besides that here’s some blogs by students with ADHD with content for students with ADHD! My #study stuff tag is also good i guess?
(ps: not all of these blogs are still active)

Question about "Pretty Notes"
I have been looking around dozens YouTube channels, studyblrs, Pinterest boards, and frickin' Google to find the answer to this, but: When exactly do y'all write out your pretty notes? I gather that they are different from your in-class notes, and that they've been rewritten as part of what I'm assuming is the test-prep process, but I can't figure out when exactly during the course of human events you rewrite them, what you change about them, why exactly you write them, and how the flip you manage to rewrite those notes AND take notes on textbooks AND actually read the textbooks AND do homework and assignments AND not die a horrible death. Like, what gives, man? Tell me your secrets. @celestudials @studyadhd @studioblrcollective @abby-studies-art @sarastudiesgeography @adhdstudying @adhdstudy @adhdstudyblr @adhdscholar @adhdstudytips (tagging because y'all always reblog pretty notes, and I'm hoping you may be able to help me find the source.) Have a lovely day!

Hey guys, I’m Charlie, I’m 16 and I’m just starting my second term of A-levels and I thought it would be a good time to properly join the studyblr community, as everyone seems really supportive and welcoming !
some facts about me:
Im studying politics, english literature and politcs
I’m a virgo, ravenclaw and my mbti type is INTP
I love reading, debating and learning new things in general
my favourite animal is a hedgehog
I have ADHD, which does occaisionally often make studying a lot harder, but thats part of the reason i created this studyblr, as well as wanting to be part of the community
history is probably my greatest passion, like i really love it, and ideally would like to have a history orientated job when im older, as well as studying it at university
I’m also very interested in more current events, particularly social issues
Why i made this studyblr
I really wanted to create a motivational and positive space to help me get through my a-levels, and i wanted to be part of a community full of like-minded people :)
studyblrs that inspire me !

Don't make posts on my behalf please.
being a naturally smart kid with adhd was honestly so damaging tbh because throughout grade school i just immediately understood every concept explained to me and i did well in school on intelligence alone, which was fine at first, but it meant that i never learned how to cope with things i didn’t understand immediately, and also nobody ever noticed my adhd since i wasn’t having trouble in school, which meant i would blame myself when i couldn’t focus and get incredibly frustrated with myself for procrastinating so much. so like, when school started to catch up with me, and my methods of just throwing my brain at things started to not work anymore, i literally didn’t know how to do school work. i would procrastinate or straight up avoid work i didn’t know how to deal with and i developed crippling anxiety over school and eventually major depression. like it eventually got so bad i had to leave school for a couple weeks. and like, i finally got diagnosed, and now I’m taking meds for adhd, but to this day, i still don’t really know how to learn or work efficiently and i kinda wish id been forced to learn this stuff in grade school instead of eleventh fucking grade when i really need to be doing good in school for college

New Studyblr Network (maybe)
So I’ve been thinking about creating a network of disabled studyblrs. I haven’t come up with a name for the group yet, but it would likely be something straightforward (like disabledstudyblrnetwork). Although I’d have to work out all the details, I would probably create a separate account for this network so that I could follow members directly and keep better track of everything.
So far, these are the ideas I’ve had for the network:
There would be two requirements to be in the network: be a studyblr (sideblogs count) and have a disability.
Gatekeeping will not be allowed: anyone who identifies as disabled (including if you are neurodivergent or do not have a formal diagnosis) will be welcome.
Members might be required to follow the network’s blog and/or to reblog an introduction post about the network (I understand this is typical of studyblr networks, but am not sure if I would implement that or not)
The network would track a tag that members could use to have their work seen by other members and the network account. All posts made with that tag, if they were studyblr-related, would be reblogged by the account.
A directory of members would be kept somewhere on the blog.
If enough people were interested, group chats could be arranged by age, disability, interests, or in virtually any other way. These could be hosted on whichever platform was most convenient.
Because I’ll be on semi-hiatus for the next month or so, the network would probably be created by the second week of August, at which point it would start accepting members. Until this point, I’d love to hear any suggestions that prospective members or anyone else might have.
If you’d be interested in joining this network, please reblog this post or message me to let me know. Below, I’ve tagged every disabled/neurodivergent studyblr I could think of. I hope that’s all right.
@adhdacademia @adhdphysicist @adhd-physics-studyblr @adhdstudy @adhdstudying @celestudials @cloudedstudies @estudierprouvaire @erinstudyblr @exu-lan-sis @finally-a-realistic-studyblr @journalsandbooks @julistudiess @marieevestudies @myastudies @neurodivergentstudent @ravenclaw-inspo @relatablestudies @ru-us-autistic-studyblr @skatergirl-studies @spooky-studies @stimsandjournals @studyadhd @studyblrforbeginners @studyblrwithadhd @whilemirandastudies
tl;dr: I’m thinking about making a studyblr network for people with disabilities. If you’d be interested in joining, please let me know (and feel free to give me any suggestions you might have for the network). If there is interest, you can expect the network to be created in early- to mid-August.
