I got inspired from other ppl doing redesigns of Hazbin characters and wanted to give a go at it. I don't watch the show but I know info about it from the internet because it's kinda hard to avoid it with it being everywhere. Like most ppl I like the fun idea of their designs but there is much left desired when taking account animation and how they stand out from one another in the background. I focused on character design in college so I'm looking at it through a designer's pov. I feel I know enough about the show to give design feedback. Even so you can still disagree with me/challenge me and be valid. Critique is how we grow as artists! We need to know how to give good criticism and how to take it ourselves :) I'll say the strengths and weaknesses of each original design and go over the changes/why

Charlie- Her original design in the show's cute but I thought she was a clown, not a demon at first. Already has a "demon form" with horns+ tail so I added those built in already. Wanted her to feel optimistic but unsure of herself. Lucifer- Original suit tells he's an over the top king, added gold shoulder pads matching the crown piece and exaggerated his shortness so now he has a Napoleon complex and takes pride from being short. Him and Charlie keep the mostly red yellow white color scheme to signify their royalty. Vaggie Vega- Unique hair shape, good for recognition. Changed name to Vega/Vegatha, sounds strong willed, better fitting for her. "X" over hair distracts from her face, put it underneath. I also made her a bit darker in value to subtly show she's a fallen angel Husker- Eyebrow game is strong, got a unique face from your typical toothy big-eyed citizens. Too many symbols that look pretty but don't make sense in his character. He's a sulky hard ass who doesn't want attention but he's got a design that's very eye-catching. I made him look lower class since he used to be an overlord and is fighting a gambling addiction. 180 color change too so you know he's a cat with owl features.

Angel Dust- Iconic floofy hair swoop. Darker suit to bring out face with a heart choker bc he's a feminine fellow after all. On that note, more pink leaning color scheme. Added abdomen for more spider theming. Dr. Pentious- His Victorian steam punk theme is fun & quirky though you can't quite see it in his design. You can't really see it in my design either cuz I was more focused on filtering out all the eyes and extra details. I would want to take this back to the board and do it over. His original top hat face distracts from his actual one so that had to go. 2 front fangs to appear more snakey. Alastor- His design works for the 1930s the decade he passed. I don't get the correlation to radio and voodoo though. The whole discourse with him being creole is messy so I scrapped it and made him a white American broadcaster to not deal with that. I made him blind with supernatural hearing abilities leaning into the sound aspect. It feels chilling knowing he hears your every move, emotion and heartbeat like the warden from Minecraft. Deer and orange fox themed for a dual nature. Vox- This idea of a tech savvy con man is super fun. Made his persona charming and eccentric, being able to appear friendly while being sketchy as f. His body is made of wires too with his teeth resembling the shock waves on his hat. Kept the pinstripes for a wirey feel.

I also did some Helluva Boss redesigns too! I think Helluva designs deliver pretty well (besides Queen Bee) so I more or so redesigned them based off my own head cannons. I used to watch the show but fell off around halfway of S2 bc I wasn't vibing with the direction of the story. Octavia- Young entrepreneur, takes after her father and mother being snobby and looks down at lower classes who she sees as less intelligent than high class. Very creative in problem solving. Millie- I like her og clothes alot. Those overalls are chic. This outfit is what she'd wear out in the field when she's working for IMP or at the farm. She and Loona fight alot about who works harder and Loona having an attitude problem towards everyone. Sallie Mae- Not much change other than white hair and removed eyelashes. I might want to make her shirt dark muted blue instead. I gave her a backstory how she ran away from toxic masculinity parents and eventually gets hired at IMP as a spy.

Loona- Emo to the extremo. She's originally goth but I got emo from her I'm sorry she just doesn't look goth. She's very lax when it comes to her job and slacks off constantly. She still does it well despite not working as hard as Millie, Moxxie or Blitz. She's strict but means well and cares for ppl around her. She also gets adopted at age 14 in my head cannon.

Bee- 180 change completely. She's a thick queen! Made her black coded with more stripes cuz she's a BEE. I don't get why Vivienne didn't give her stripes bc that's a design thing she uses so much and she doesn't use it in a character whose name is BEE? What??? anyway her design is still complex but simplified and uncluttered for animation so the animators can have pleasant dreams. She's the child of Beelzebub and a hell hound. So that's my take on Hazbin/Helluva character design! This was fun re imagining not only the characters but the story itself. I may write a fan fiction but i dunno right now. I respect the original source material which is something I feel everyone needs to acknowledge when they do a redesign of anything. There are things I don't like about the original and that's ok! That's part of why I did the redesigns. That being said I don’t support Vivziepop :)

cats the musical:

we both know the fandom has had it's moments, but jfc if we don't unite against a common enemy when people shit on the musical, it's actually a little inspiring how quickly the fandom can come together

LOVE the artists, oh my god the cats fandom has some of the most amazing and talented artists i've ever ever seen, to name a few: you, @soh-da-meatball, @sillybub, @rainbowratsstuff, @lozeyart @bees-in-a-davidbowie-shirt, to name just a FEW, it's actually wild how talented the artists are in the fandom.

ok adding an extra one because along with the artists, the writers in this fandom????? cats fandom fics and one-shots are so elite, the creativity, the amount of different plots, absolutely fantastic

how supportive the fandom is of the different casts!!! i think one of my favorite things is how different people in the fandom post about different casts, so within a single day i'll log on and see people posting about at least three different productions. the knowledge of the different casts is so so impressive and i haven't encountered that kind of dedication in really any other fandoms tbh

the outsiders:

this is probably my newest fandom but omg the support, whenever i post something about the outsiders and my little over-analysis posts and my fics, the amount of love and support i get on it all just gives me so many warm and fuzzies, i love posting outsiders content bc people are just so nice

it's really easy for a fandom to become frustrated with a new adaptation, but i've seen nothing but love for the musical, and it's just been welcomed in along with the book and the 1983 movie, so it just makes me really happy to see that the musical is getting just as much love within the fandom

just the environment of the fandom in general? i haven't really done a deep dive into it, but everyone i've encountered has just been really kind and lovely

Honestly I think I'm not that good at anatomy, but I can give a little description of how I got here with it.

Heads up for long reply

There are 3 things that had helped me along the way to draw bodies and art in general:

1) STUDY: I'm not talking about going to art school (even if I did, it didn't help and only got me several traumas) I'm talking about sitting at your desk and study the body. I did it in so many ways. One of my favorite was to take a bunch of fashion magazines and draw the movement line on the models (I know it by that name, I don't know if on english has another term, but is basically the line that goes through the spine), the movement line helps quite a lot to have a basic idea of how the pose will go, how the energy is distributed along the torso and limbs, etc (if you want I can give a little 'how-to-do' in another post so it can be easier to understand). Adding to it, studying actual anatomy helps a lot, to know where the muscles are, how the bones work and how the skin also does its thing. You don't have to know everything, you just need to have the idea.

2) REFERENCES: fuck pinterest, albums with 174.747.426 pics references from a random person, all you need to know is your own body. I know that people always argue to me about this topic 'but hey I don't have a jojo body, I'm not even a man, I'm a big size, I don't like taking pictures of myself, etc, etc,etc' I get it, but guys ME NEITHER! I don't have the body of the characters I draw, but if you want to understand anatomy you have to start with yourself.

It's embarrassing to admit it but most of the hands I draw are all made in base of my own selfies, and I used em for so long that I don't need to take pictures so often anymore, cos I ended up understanding how it works. Even on poses I kept using my own body as the biggest reference and I'll keep doing it.

These are some of the hundreds of pics I've taken of myself for references. Embarrassing myself only to prove my point :'D

3) and the most important PRETEND THAT YOU KNOW: Sounds weird but back me up on this. Art is the work of the liar, the artist is the person that found a way to turn something 3 dimensional to 2 dimensional, it's the lineart that fakes reality to pretend that there's space in a piece of paper. So for that to work you have to draw pretending that you know what you're doing.

This is not a 'believe in yourself' this is a 'keep lying to yourself until others believe it'. Art is not about being loyal to reality, is about knowing the shortcuts. The majority of my drawings aren't anatomical correct, but I faked it so much that you think that it is (PSYCHE!)

I know it sounds like you only need this one point to be capable of drawing but nope nope nope! You first need to understand the reality to be capable of fake it.

There isn't a single way to draw a body, I'm pretty much against those 'DON'T DO THIS. DO THIS INSTEAD' bc it basically tells you that you don't have other option but learn that one way, basically telling you the shortcut without explaining you why or how. There are millions of ways and for you to find yours, all you need is understand the way you see the world.

This was my way of learning, it could help as much as it cannot help at all! But I hope one of the three points managed to ring a bell on someone ^^

first thing you wanted to be growing up? I just checked My Life Plan, to be sure. This is written in sparkly black crayon on both sides of a piece of now-faded mint green paper torn from a notepad. The same thing is written on both sides, except that on side A I clearly tried to write my full name (Ginevra), gave up, wrote "Gin", scratched out the excess letters, and added Disguise Scratches on the other side of my name to conceal the mistake. I was 4: Side A also has a couple of attempted spellings of "job", namely "Jod" and much smaller, tentative, "Joj".

Side B, the final draft, says:

Gin / 20 cats / 14 jobs / 8 kids / and 3 / dogs

These were full-time jobs/Jod/Joj, to be clear. One was The Mayor, one a doctor, one an artist, one an astronaut possibly? I didn't actually know 14 professions, but I was gonna keep my options open till I found some more.

I also had a fiancé at age 4. While I managed 14 full-time positions, his sole ambition was to drive the street-sweeping machine.

Nobody knows who Crym is so just pretend she's 2P and call this piece 2Crime 2Punishment... Incidentally a good alternate name for Yorda Hark Adopadypse

There's this funny thing about Y:DA that plagues my mind ever since I noticed it. I won't go into their context, but there are several nods and references to CrimePun in Y:DA like for starters

Konogg distracts the player with a silver watch just like Raskolnikov before he murders a woman

Glagg grows delirious and paranoid after his 'perfect plan' causes an unplanned death just like Raskolnikov after he murders a woman's sister

Themes of Social Hierarchies and Atonement

and of course

There is a quest literally called Crime & Punishment

and once you notice that you might start to see certain things about the story that will clear up to you that Yoko Taro is a crazy person wtf wtf wtf. Here? Here out of all places? Right in front of my Quirky Video Game Cross-Over?? Did you really think anybody would take this seriously enough to notice any of this???

And I'm perfectly fine with being that guy who shouts into the void that "actually Y:DA is the best, just read this 15-page essay I wrote about how this thing and this thing actually reference a book you don't care about and then three jumps of moon logic later we find ourselves discussing the social mobility of minorities and video games as an art form because I guess that's my life now" only to be told "Bro, It's not that deep" - There is just one problem:

The quest is not called "Crime & Punishment" in Japanese. It's vaguely resembling it in a "X and Y" scheme, but as far as I can tell (using google) it's only called Crime and Punishment in English and German (not in French though) which means my case for "this is defo on purpose" - the only metric of good writing besides "did i like it" - is relying on interpreting a piece of media, which as we all know is not a thing you do with video games.

This situation however also means that one of the following has to be true:

YT meant to do all these CrimePun references and expected people to pick up on them without namedropping the book and the Eng & Ger Localisations knew that (bc of translation notes or something like that) and added a direct reference bc the original quest name was similar anyways.

YT didn't mean to do that and the Eng & Ger Localisations either on their own or together realized that Y:DA had parallels to the book and decided to write CrimePun references into this quest line on their own.

This is just a massive coincidence and everybody involved referenced themes and details of a book that was then also mentioned in two seperate translations by name purely on accident.

Needless to say it's definitely the last one which makes me boo boo the fool as we all know Yoko Taro is a loser and has never used subtext in his life. But if I were ever able to ask him and/or the localisation (who kind of have to know bc they translated it) anything, I would ask them if Y:DA is referencing this book on purpose or not... (YT wouldn't answer that and laugh at me. And then he would call the cops to get me out of his house.)

Anyways, some final notes:

For the background I painted over a woodcut print of the Pulkovo Observatory bc I was lazy and backgrounds are hard. I will accept the withdrawal of my 'Mediocre Art Hobbyist' card for the sin of not being a real artist

Crym's outfit is supposed to resemble Raskolnikov's with his stupid little hat, but we all know that guy's clothes would not color match

re: fans not always having better ideas, that reminded me that while I do agree that MSM2 had some pacing and plotting issues (though not to the extent that the fanboys are insisting), I've never read a hardcore hater fan's allegedly improved story treatment that wasn't far worse than the actual game, especially if their main problem is Eddie Brock not being Venom; I think most of them are blurred to me bc I couldn't finish reading them, but I read one recently that had weird ideas like having Carlton Drake be a major playable character, specifically for the MJ missions, among a lot of other terrible ideas.

Funnily enough, that post was prompted by SM L*tus, because the creator (before him and a couple of others in their group got outed as massive racists and pedos) was yelling about how the MCU SM movies suck and everyone is a hack, and he could make a much better SM movie. And while I'm not the biggest fan of the MCU, it's still better than whatever the hell he crapped out. I only watched a review because no way in hell I'm gonna sit through an almost 2 hour slopfest made by racists. Though I do feel bad for the CGI artists and everyone else who had nothing to do with the controversy and their names are attached to this Thing.

And I don't even bother reading the MSM2 suggestions after seeing of dozens of horny men self-projecting and suggesting that Peter should cheat on MJ with Felicia. Most of the game's pacing issues could've been easily resolved by adding some breathing room and having a slower build-up instead of going from one big set piece to another at breakneck speed like a TikTok video.

4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw

on god I love this series but literally anything soulsborne related. Shit ruins me like I love drawing art for it but trying to find clear refs for some fits in the game is like borderline impossible and it only gets worse the further back in the series you go. Trying to find a fit from demon’s souls and the screenshot is 144p vantablack dark and all details are incomprehensible, shit makes guilty gear designs like easymode compared to them

Tbh, I have been in school for art so long that my name conventions are very boring. I usually just name the file after whatever scene/character I'm drawing, "dustbin" or something if it's just a canvas im shitting out ideas on

Ough. I am not actually too sure about this one but I think the easy answer would be any original stuff as opposed to fanart kdsjfha. It is often harder to get out because I actually think more about compositions/designs when making these, but since they're mostly for work or just practice I don't expect them to get a lot of traction, they don't and I'm cool with that.

Just feeling like unpacking and sorting out some thoughts on this wonderfully rainy morning (begone, roadside dust!!)

Now, I've always been the type to post new art the moment it's done. Posting stuff only on Patreon has still proven easier than I expected. Perhaps since i am still posting stuff -somewhere- it doesn't feel as weird, even though I do miss the interaction from posting on socials. But that'll be back once I have a buffer big enough to keep Patreon relevant. It's also getting easier on letting posting on social wait as time goes by, lol. Actually thought that what if I make the publish gap with the comic even bigger, like several months between Patreon/other sites. But aaaah, I really do want to get it out. It might create more of a gap with time anyway. And the best way to get new people interested in my Patreon is to have interesting stuff out there in the wild. And I'll be honest, it feels validating af to see even a few people willing to spend money to access my Patreon.

It's still conflicting sometimes, because I would really want to keep my stuff available to everyone without paywalls. Art in general is meant to be shared and should be accessible to everyone, this is something I feel on a larger scale. Things like commissioned, unique pieces are luxurious though. They are after all often personal as well. Artists don't live on grants and stipends, hell, even those are usually available for artists who have already made a name for themselves on a larger scale/are well connected. Majority I know struggle with part time jobs, unemployment, studying or are disabled, barely scraping by what they can get in terms of welfare etc. I'm no different. I'm on welfare due to health reasons + in debt, so basically I don't have any "extra" money at the end of each month left for nice things™. And if I do, it usually goes to paying a larger portion of debt away. Sometimes I spend and always regret it later, lol. But if you -never- get to treat yourself even a little, life starts to feel quite depressing. I know so many people are in the same kind of position, where it's just not possible to pay for more than 1-2 subscription services monthly, or none. So having my art behind a Patreon paywall of any kind feels bad, knowing I would likely not be able to afford it myself, lol. Will it ever be easy to combine the thought of art + money without having dreadful crapitalism thoughts creep in? Probably not.

I still want to do my best to pick up some commissions as well, I need to create some sort of hidden stash of money now that I have the cat. Because when (inevitably at some point) a trip to the vet happens, that's going to be at least a hundo no matter what. And when the last trip to the vet arrives, that's gonna be closer to 300-400 with all the cheapest options. (hopefully not anytime soon, but something i have to take into account) I am currently working on a painting comm and might have another one coming up as well, which is giving me much joy. Watercolours are a lot of work, but they're less taxing in the sense that there's only so much detail you can do compared to digital, and tradi allows the happy little accidents with the medium. So it's easier to feel like I did my best wihtout having the thought "ah... i should've kept fixing it"(without asking for more money bc I gotta do better ad infinitum) So I'm really happy peeps have shown interest in tradi comms, even though I'm not very well versed in techniques with those. Learning tho!

My head's been in a relatively good place for a good while now, all things considered. But I have to pull the brakes on myself every now and then because I know it only takes one hard hit in the old mental health for all of it going to shit in the blink of an eye. So I'm trying to tread carefully, prep and plan while keeping the bar set low enough.

Mom has moved to hospice care, which also means that getting the phonecall about her passing can also be any day now. I feel like I've made my peace with it, but even if it doesn't initially hit hard, I'm pretty sure it will bring some mental struggle later. And there will be the whole episode of handling her stuff afterwards. Thankfully there won't be any wealth to distribute, so likely all the mandatory/legal expenses will be handled by welfare. How dreadful that even in that, money is the first thing to have to worry about, huh.

if i'm drawing a profile then I tend to draw the right side of a persons face (their right), but it's not necessarily harder to draw their left, i just tend to do their right more, if that makes sense? I think its bc i'm right handed.

1. This is less related to fic content, but I love reading author notes when they’re added.

It’s such a neat insight into the author and to what they’re doing in their life at times, or just ‘anyways yea idk how to end this lol’ after writing the most devastating shit ever. I’d need to find exact note but I remember reading a fic where ALL the characters die and I think end note they quoted a fricking meme. It’s great.

2. I don’t know if I have a favorite trope in any of those regards…reading I usually stick to canonish (like canon divergent) type material oh those everyone lives no one dies type stuff…uhh yeah idk how to answer this one

3. I hope more people will come to appreciate non-romantic relationships more, but specifically sibling relationships because when done right in media they rock HARD. Idk love people having their fun in fandoms and that does include shipping culture but it’s just not my cup of tea alot of the times. That and filler episodes, they can be awesome and shows now unfortunately don’t get a chance to do them more often.

actually, swat kats is a cartoon I was obsessed with for a while as a kid after we got access to cartoon network and they started airing it here. i think it'd seen a dubbed version of it before but it was exciting to see the english original, . it was fun and rompy as I remember, but also I loved the music and action elements after bikermice ended and I missed it so much, seeing something with similar musical cues felt like a consolation almost, like "oh there's more cartoons like this". now admittedly, i don't really remember that much abt swat kats anymore. it aired alongside other H-B cartoons and there was a lot to watch and pay attention to, so i kinda haven't retained more of it than memories of memories of loving the intro, memorizing the music and feeling cool while watching it. I remember the shift to more "serious" storytelilng (if I remember it right at all lol) and both feeling a bit critical/apprehensive at Callie (bc I'd thought, "why is she the only one who gets a more human-like appearance) and loving her design/fawning over her ("oh no, girl hot") but also it was just interesting to see a girl character given a mayoral role which made her seem more important than I'd seen from other action cartoons directed at boys so far.

like, i need to rewatch this series now that I've seen the cast/crew list, and just see also what it was about this show that I loved so much it left some kind of artistic impression on me.

lol idk what other connection with SRTUC it has, but when I'd read that Ben Jones was on it, I suddenly also thought, "well, not it makes sense why the antrho designs in samurai rabbit actually makes sense" There are so many shows, comics and so on before which have made different kinds of attempts at anthro/furry designs, and they all might make sense within the context of their show/media piece, but what I liked about Samurai Rabbit was how it didn't "humanize" the animal designs *too much*. Resulting in awkward designs where women look much more human than their male counterparts. which might not bother a kid much, but will bother an artist like me concerned with consistency lol. like in the og usagi yojimbo it makes sense how the animals look a little more human depending on their role or function in the story/scene, Stan Sakai is very good at making his cartoony style work with these ideas of "basically human, but represented by animals" but also literally animals. And I like that the show takes this same idea and runs with it in it's own way.

All this to say - Experience builds on experience.

so Ben Jones and many other veteran animators/artists/writers in the field working on it, but also the numerous visdev artists, animators and other visual folk with similar vested interest in a UY adaptation, give this show such an unique flair among other furry/anthro shows.

how many times do i have to say this.

screenshotting people's tags and just saying "prev tags" serve two different functions.

when you screenshot someone's tags, that screenshot becomes part of the post. aka, it's one of the reasons someone would reblog it.

here's an example of the screenshotting method working as intended

the tags build on op's post. setup and punchline. this isn't an unrelated aside tacked onto the main post. this is a single piece of text now.

but for an example of the "prev" tag in action, a few days ago i reblogged an audiopost that was a song by one of my favorite blues artists. the op tagged the audio post with something like "when this album comes on, i don't skip any of the tracks" and i instantly thought "wow, same! i also don't skip any of the songs when i listen to this album!" so i just said "prev tags" to express this feeling of solidarity, bc it would have been really weird if i screenshotted their tags and added it to my reblog.

if i tag a post with my oc's name or a niche fandom reference, and my friend agrees, i'd rather have them add a "prev tag" instead of screenshotting my tag. by screenshotting the tags, you're basically saying "this addition is important enough that it should be considered part of the post itself"

I'm slowly beginning to understand why dream fucking stormed out of the pub after hob said they're friends (excluding the fact that he's more than a god and hob is just some guy™). Like imagine you go to a club and start hooking up with a guy.

U barely know each other and u don't even know his name but u both know you'll be there every month on that same exact day because you both have busy lives but sometimes y'all need to let your hair down and that just so happened to be the day ur both free. And then one day this guy(who's barely a friend with benefits btw) asks "so we're dating right" and the AUDACITY. Sure you like to go out of the club so you can actually hear each other talk. Sure you walk home together and get snacks and eat together. Sure maybe you even hang out at each other's houses waiting to use the shower or just having tea. Maybe he's even protected you from some street thugs that one time and you saved his ass in the end. BUT HOW DARE HE SUGGEST YOU'RE DATING?! You told him from the start this was just a hookup.

It's not like you made heart eyes whenever he would go on rants about how much he hates Shakespeare even though you love him. Nevermind the fact that you feel butterflies in your chest whenever he talks about the most mundane shit "omg they've added Fanta to the menu" "we can vape inside now!" "What will they think of next" or how you feel alive when he talks about how shit a day he's had "my girlfriend broke up with me" "you have a girlfriend?" but still wants to continue working at his shitty 9-5 job and live in his shitty shoebox apartment BC "life is rich" and "I have so much to live for".

Nevermind all that. You're just a stranger in the club and he's just some guy you're on slightly good terms with. You're not dating. You don't need intimacy thank you very much. Too messy. You live in a studio because housemates always gossip. You're single bc you love your work. You're alone because you like the privacy. You're only hooking up bc your sister mentioned it once and it intruiged you. What need do you have of a relationship? And then you miss the meeting. Not because you don't think you're friends as the guy says but because you're being held for ransom as your older sister is actually a member of parliament as are your parents. But it's your sister they want.

As you're kidnapped you have a lot of time to think about your past relationships. That one didn't work out because you were a dick. Plain and simple. You really should let her out of prison but old wounds still haven't healed. The next one was because she had started seeing that other guy. What was his name? You don't remember. The other one seemed to be going well. You courted her right, no missing son, no fights. But she still left you. Why? You can't understand. You just went to her one day and she said she couldn't keep doing this. But you brought her creations no one else could make. Showed her beauty beyond the two of you. What was it then? What did she say? You struggle to remember, to find the puzzle pieces and put them in the right place at first. But you're stuck for a while. Your parents don't come-you're an adult after all- nor do your siblings who mind their own business. Time passes ever so slowly. You come up with ways to torment your captors when you escape. Maybe kidnap the man's son so he knows what it's like. Or his husband. Maybe burn the place to the ground. Or kill them and dump their bodies in the ocean. You have the money from your work as a glass artist to buy a boat in their name. How would you get out? Would you real your thumbs to get the cuffs off? Or would you be saved by the guy from the club?

What would you say to him? You'd definitely call him a friend. You'd hang out more than once a month. You'd go shopping and get clothes. How you missed clothes. Even the feel of denim chafing your skin would be welcome right now. You'd hang out the morning after. Make breakfast. Burn it. You'd tell him he was right and you were dating. You'd tell him you were in love. Then you'd mess it up and he'd leave you. Just like all the others did. What had she said? What did you do to drive her away? You always visited her when he had time. When the work wasn't too much and he remembered the day. Sure that meant sometimes he had to miss out a date or two but you always told her. Better than how you left things with Hob. Abrupt and without warning. Then you remembered how you'd tell her. Only an hour before the date. She had made a reservation and had been looking forward to it for days. Sure you had let her know but only barely in advanced. And there was that one time you didn't even keep track of the time. Let alone the date and you'd missed a weekly date. She'd brushed it off but now you can see the resignation in her eyes as she said it was fine. And that was it wasn't it? That was the final nail in the coffin.

Not with him. Not with Hob. You'd tell him. You'd break out of this godforsaken hellhole and tell him everything. It didn't matter anymore. Fuck pride. Fuck privacy. Fuck mess and tidiness.
