PSA!
Spoilers under the cut but GUYS. GUYS. Do NOT skip through the "Wait for Godo" quest! This is for your own good!
This quest is so creepy and for WHAT
This is a two second overworld quest! Run into a random NPC who asks you to go see about the missing guard literally one building over! Standard open world stuff! Easy peasy!
Oh, and also just go ahead and say hi to the random eldritch shadow being while you're at it. NO BIG DEAL??? (I missed capturing the first two text boxes where you casually notice a 'massive looming shadow' over the beach demanding your 'attention and submission' and this doesn't concern you at all. You get your memories back but you can't actually remember what you're remembering as you remember it. Just that of course you know these shadows. You remember how they'd dance at your command.)
(Like.)
(WHAT.)
And then you fight some super easy mobs and the quest just ends. There's no turn-in - the quest giver won't even talk to you. It's like it never happened in the first place.
Kuro, what the hell.
I love it.
(Also the implications of the 'I still have work to do' line. I picked '...I should wake up.' because I thought it was a better wham line if this were a book or movie or something but the implications of the second one are ruining me. That's a 'But I have miles to go before I sleep' kind of line line. That's the kind of thing you say to keep from going toward the bright light. WHAT was HAPPENING here.)
EDIT: THE QUEST NAME IS A WAITING FOR GODOT REFERENCE. WHO DID THIS.
#wuthering waves spoilers#wuthering waves#what was even going on in the writing room why are the sidequests sometimes just LIKE this?#it's a random little side quest it shouldn't be THIS good???#is it that the sidequests were tiny enough to escape the stockholder hatchet that presumably happened to the main quest? is that it?#okay stop reading the tags here#anyway when I said 'this is for your own good' up there I actually meant 'I would like to share the horrors' thank you#in hindsight the fact it's a dream/dreamlike state makes perfect sense#the whole request in the first place is straight up dream logic#you just don't think about it because...well random side quest - it doesn't have to be super logical#'the guard on duty literally right upstairs just straight up vanished but we're not SUPER concerned about it'#'you should go up there and wait for him though. just in case.'#Rover: Sure That Tracks#and the whole sudden sense of unease and increasing awareness that something is very wrong is SO well done#I'm actually not sure if the memories Rover was dream-remembering were actually theirs or if it was some kind of eldritch synergy#with the shadow being#who even knows though. this is the mindfuck zone now anything is possible.

I'm Sorry I Left You Behind
SUMMARY: The Bead Brawl tournament ends and Leona, Kalim, Vil and Lilia run away leaving you, Grim and Jack behind. Later, they will realize that they hurt you by doing this to you and will apologize to you.
CHARACTERS: Kalim Al-Asim; Vil Schoenheit; Lilia Vanrouge
TAGS: Fluff; GN Reader; Comfort
WARNING: Spoilers from Cloudcalling on the Savanna (Sunset Savanna's Tamashina-Mina) and its respective cards.
WORD COUNT: An average of 640 words per character.
COMMENTS: At first, I was going to write scenarios for all the event cards, but as Leona's was so personal, it ended up inspiring me to write a lot. So I decided to let him have his solo post:
There's a Calm Surrender (Leona Kingscholar x Reader)
By the way, I was undecided whether to use the name Neji or Kifaji, so I used both. 😅
I hope you enjoy. 😘
CONTEXT: To escape from Cheka, Neji(Kifaji) and the palace guards who were with them, Leona rushed to the car to drive back to the hotel. Vil, Kalim and Lilia went with him. And you, Grim and Jack were left behind in the rain.
I mean, Leona wanted to escape and the car didn't have seats for everyone but... still... it made you a little sad. At least you had Jack who never left your side. Eventually, Cheka and Neji(Kifaji) reached you, after Leona and the others had already fled. Of course the first thing Neji(Kifaji) did was apologize for Leona's rudeness and offer to take you back to the hotel.
When you arrived at the hotel, you went to your room with the intention of showering and changing your clothes. But before you can do that, someone knocks on your door.
“[Y/N]! You won't believe the ride we took with Leona.” Kalim tells you, enthusiastically. “It was amazing! I’ve never been in a car that shook that hard! It was so heart-pounding...” He stops himself when he actually looks at you. “Ho! [Y/N] You're soaking wet! What-?” and then he remembers “HA! We left you behind in the rain! I'm so sorry! Do you need anything? I can go ask for more towels for you.”
You say it's not necessary, that you're fine, you just need to take a shower and change your clothes.
“I'm glad. Let me know when you're done, okay? I really want to tell you about the ride... And made up for leaving without you.”
You shower, put on your pajamas, and text Kalim that you’re ready. But then, seeing Grim sleeping and remembering that Kalim can talk loudly without realizing it, you send him another message asking if you could be the one to go to his room instead, so you can be more comfortable talking without worrying about waking Grim up. He says it is a great idea and that you're welcome in his room anytime. Plus: “But come quickly. I really want to talk and be with you.”
SUNSET VILLA - KALIM'S ROOM
Kalim opens the door for you. It shouldn't be a surprise to discover that he had a much fancier and more luxurious room than yours. He closes the door and takes both of your hands to take you with him to sit on the bed.
“I have lots of snacks, you can eat whatever you want.” he tells you with a smile and pointing to a large basket full of traditional snacks.
He excitedly tells you how crazy and fun the ride with Leona was. And about when Jamil finally found him. You wanted to be happy that he had so much fun, but you couldn't shake the thought that while all that was happening you had been left behind in the rain, as if it would be easy for them to forget about you. And it showed on your face.
“Hmm? What’s wrong? Don't you like the taste?” He asks as you were eating one of the snacks. “You can always leave it aside and choose another one, no problem.”
You say that's not it and your expression becomes sadder as you wonder if you should tell him what you were really thinking.
“Well, I can see you're sad. Can you tell me what's going on. Nothing would make me happier than seeing a smile back on your face.” He smiles innocently.
You decide to tell him and say how abandoned and forgotten you felt.
“Oh no! I'm so sorry for doing this to you! We didn't want to abandon you and we didn't forget you. Well... I mean... I think technically with all the adrenaline we forget... But it wasn't out of spite! We just...” he sighs “No, there is no excuse. We did you wrong. I should have stayed with you.” There is a short pause. “I know a hug isn't enough to fix things, but can I give you one?”
You let him and he wraps his arms around you. It's very comforting, you feel a strong but gentle hug, that meanwhile loosens without releasing you.
“Can you forgive me?” He asks in a soft and sad voice, close to your ear, still hugging you. “I promise I won't do it again. I’ll never leave you again.”
You gently ask about what he just said. He breaks the hug calmly to look at you, still with his hands on your arms.
“I really like you. I feel really bad knowing that I hurt you. I don't want to do that again. I want to see you happy and smiling and I want to share all the good and fun moments I have with you. So I will never leave you behind again. It's a promise!”
When you arrived at the hotel, you went to your room to shower and change your clothes, but before you enter the bathroom, you receive a message. It's from Vil.
“I heard that you have already arrived. I would like to talk with you. Take a shower and let me know when you're dressed.” You reply to him to confirm that you saw the message, and shortly he replies to you: “I stopped by your room earlier and left the soap soap packed with hot spring minerals I bought in your bathroom for you to use this. But it's just this once, then I'll take it back with me. So enjoy it, but don't spend too much.”
You do so. You not only feel more comfy but more relaxed. You put on your pajamas and text Vil that you're ready.
“Grim is sleeping, isn't he? I'd like to talk without worrying about waking him up. Could you come to my room?” You say that you can and that you are going there now. “Thank you, [Y/N]. I'll try not to steal too much of your rest time.”
SUNSET VILLA - VIL'S ROOM
You knock on Vil's room door saying it's you, and you hear his voice giving you permission to enter. You enter and see him sitting on the bed, leaning against the headboard with his legs stretched out on the bed and a bandage on one of his ankles with a bag of ice on top.
“There is no need to worry.” Vil tells you. “Personally, I think they are exaggerating a bit, but it wouldn’t be wise of me to refuse treatment.”
You close the door behind you and go to sit next to him on the bed. You look at his ankle again and sees that it and his foot are very swollen. You ask if it's really the doctors who are exaggerating or he who doesn't want to make a big deal of it.
He sighs. “Very well. I may have gone too far in hiding my injury and making it worse during the tournament. But now everything is under control. So please don't worry, okay?” He smiles to reassure you. “It is another subject I wanted to talk to you about.”
“And what is it?” You ask.
“I am sorry.” Vil’s words and look say.
“For what?”
“For leaving you behind and in the rain. I know it was Leona who ran away and left his guests behind, but I was one of those who went after him and got into the car. Which is equally rude and inelegant. You supported us the whole time and did what you could to help us and not be a burden and we treated you like one in the end, and for that I am deeply sorry. Did you arrive well at the hotel? Any symptoms of a cold?”
You answer no, that you arrived well, Neji(Kifaji) took it upon himself to guarantee that.
“I see. I must thank him, and apologize as well.” He smells the air. “Ah, you used the soap I left for you.” And you apologize for forgetting to bring it back. “It's okay. You can return it to me tomorrow. I can see that it's really good, the skin on your face looks beautifully healthy.” You smile thanking him. “You know, come to think of it, you can keep the soap. That skin matches that smile very well.” He smiles, and then laughs when he sees how flattered you got. “You should go back to bed now. It would be a shame to ruin the effects of your bath with a short night's rest.”
You agree and get up, but before leaving you notice his foot again and ask if he would like you to help him lie down.
“I told you you didn't need to worry. But thank you, I'll be fine.”
How silly, he was right. You rephrase the sentence: You WILL help him lie down.
“[Y/N], I already told you-” But you pretend you're not listening, and hold the bag of ice with one hand and his foot in the other. You look at him as a sign that he can settle in bed now. He sighs as he does so. “You are so stubborn. It's almost charming.”
“Almost?”
He laughs softly. “Stubbornness isn't charming most of the time, but... I think you can make it quite cute.”
You thank him for the compliment, and feeling bold, you lean in and kiss his forehead. “Good night, Vil.” As you start to straighten up, you feel a hand on your arm pulling you back. And he kisses your cheek.
“Good night, [Y/N].” he whispers with a smile. “And thank you.”
You arrive at the hotel and go to your room. You take a shower, put on your pajamas and when you're about to go to bed, you hear a light knock on the door. Grim groans and turns over, but doesn't wake up. You get closer to the door to ask who it is, but before you do it, you get your answer.
“It's the cute old me.” you hear Lilia's voice on the other side. You open the door. “Hi [Y/N]. Sorry to interrupt your rest, but I wanted to tell you something.” He says quietly. He leans to the side to see Grim sleeping behind you. “But maybe we should do it somewhere else. I don't want to wake Grim... again. In my room perhaps? I have some snacks.” he smiles invitingly.
SUNSET VILLA - LILIA'S ROOM
The two of you enter Lilia's room and he immediately grabs a bag full of snacks. He sits on the bed and invites you to sit next to him, with the bag between you.
“You can take whatever you want if you are hungry.” He says. You take one and it continues. “You didn't catch a cold, did you?”
You seem a little confused at first, but then you realize what he's referring to. You say no, and that you immediately took a hot bath when you arrived, but regardless of whether you tried to hide it or not, Lilia would immediately realize that you were sad about what happened.
“My deepest apologies.” he says regretfully. “I knew you wouldn't be in danger. You were with Jack and Neji(Kifaji) and the royal guards were sure to bring you back to the hotel safe and sound. That's how I usually see things at first. But... I didn't think about how that act could be interpreted. Running away for fun leaving you behind in the rain. Sounds like abandonment, doesn't it?”
You look away, with a sad expression that confirms what he said.
“That's why I wanted to talk to you. That was absolutely not my intention. I am quite knowledgeable about whether or not someone is at risk physically, but it seems like I'm still learning to understand the same emotionally. After all, what is no big deal for one person can be a very cruel act for another. I'm not saying you're too sensitive, but I think it depends on how much you like the person committing the act, right?”
He holds both your hands in his. “Your heart is your most wonderful quality. And as someone it can love, I should protect it better and not taking it for granted.” He kisses the back of your hands. “Could you forgive me for my mistake?”

Spy x Family CODE: White - FULL MOVIE SUMMARY [SPOILERS]
Now that I've finally read through the entire novelization of CODE: White, I'm ready to share a full summary of everything that happens - basically spoil the whole movie for those interested 😅
But before I get to the summary, a few notes:
I didn't translate every line from the novelization as that would have taken way too long. I go into more detail for scenes I was particularly interested in (like Twiyor scenes), or scenes that were easy to translate. But I still made sure to mention everything that's important to the story. If I gloss over some parts more than others, it's either because they were difficult to translate, or I didn't think they were that important. But even so, the "summary" still ended up being way longer than I anticipated!
I have not seen the movie myself yet, so everything in the summary below is based on the novelization only (of which there were two versions released, with slight differences between them). Obviously the novelization is an accurate adaptation, but there is a chance that a few things are different between the novelization and the actual movie, and/or the novelization may have left out some dialogue or minor scenes.
And lastly, it goes without saying but BEWARE OF MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW! Not only that, but please be considerate of where you share these spoilers. Remember to properly tag this post if you reblog it and think twice before you share any of this information on other social media. Most people don't want to be spoiled to this degree!
Again MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!
The movie starts with an introduction to the characters – we see Twilight carrying out a mission where he has to disguise himself as someone's wife. Meanwhile, Yor is doing an assassination mission. They both come home at the same time and are greeted by Anya. Bond has a vision of Anya and Loid getting sick from Yor's cooking, so Anya suggests that Loid cook instead.
At Eden, Henderson tells the students about the cooking contest and how the principal will be the judge. Loid is on the roof, reading Henderson's lips. A falcon flies overhead and drops him a note with an F cipher. He goes to meet with Sylvia at one of the WISE hideouts. She informs him that she has another big mission for him, but when he objects that he couldn't take on something so big in the midst of Operation Strix, she hands him a photo of a man and child. She explains that the man is Major Depple of the Army Intelligence Department who has a lot of important people backing him, and since they hadn't made enough progress with Operation Strix, the higher-ups decided to pass it onto him.
As Loid leaves, he bumps into Fiona. Her hat gets blown away with the wind and he reaches to catch it, just as Yor and her coworkers are across the street. From where Yor sees them, it looks like Loid is kissing "the mysterious woman." Loid and Fiona have a fake conversation – he compliments her hat, she says it was made overseas, etc – while they're actually doing their secret "spy talk" (like they did when she first visited him at home). He tells her what's happening with Operation Strix, and she tells him that she had tried to warn him that it shouldn't have been left up to ordinary citizens who don't know anything, and that she should take on the wife role. Meanwhile, Camilla and co. tell Yor about the three signs of cheating: one, an increase in travelling; two, a change in clothing taste (to match the taste of his new lover); and three, suddenly giving gifts (because he feels guilty).
Later that evening, Yor is still feeling anxious about Loid's possible "lover." When Anya gets home, she tells them about the cooking competition. Loid recalls from his data that the principal's favorite is the melemele pastry. If Anya could get a stella from the competition, that could help get him back into Operation Strix. He says that he read in the school newspaper that the melemele in Frejis is supposedly the best, so they should go there and try it for themselves via a family vacation over the weekend. Yor thinks back to the "increase in travelling" sign of cheating that Camilla told her about. Loid tells her that only families are allowed at the Frejis restaurant they're headed to, so she decides to go, though she's still conflicted about whether this is actually a sign of cheating or not.
They have some family time on the train to Frejis, though Loid still makes Anya study. They play cards and get food (Anya has a corn dog, Yor has a sandwich, Loid has a hamburger). After coming back from the bathroom, Anya notices a key by one of the sinks. Bond is with her, and through him she sees a vision of the future – in the vision, she goes to car 8 and opens a trunk with the key while overhearing two men mention that it's a key to a treasure of the Republic.
Back in the train car, Loid brings up Anya's terrible handwriting while Yor mentions that they had practiced handwriting the other day. Loid says that Yor's motherly side is really coming out, which causes Yor to get flustered and makes her think that it's not her skills as a mother he could be dissatisfied with but perhaps her skills as a wife. She gets even more flustered when she notices a couple across the way kissing and starts nervously moving her lips, to which Loid asks if something's wrong. She stammers that her lipstick didn't warm up and is itchy, then says she's going to look for Anya since she's taking a long time.
Meanwhile, Anya and Bond find the luggage compartment and locate the trunk from Bond's vision. When Anya goes to grab it, Bond tries to stop her. At first she thinks that she shouldn't just do whatever she wants with other people's stuff, but then she remembers that the men in the vision said it was a treasure of the Republic, a treasure that could possibly help achieve world peace. She opens the trunk and is disappointed to find just a chocolate in it. But when she hears the two men, Domitri and Luca, open the door, she gets startled and accidently knocks the chocolate out of the trunk. It bounces off of Bond's nose, and when she tries to grab it, it falls into her mouth. She hides when Luca and Domitri come in to look for the trunk.
They describe the ship sticker on it, and when they find that it's been opened and the chocolate stolen, they say they're going to kill whoever took it so the secret won't get out. When Anya accidently makes a noise, the men take notice. Domitri takes a flower out of his pocket and points it towards the dim light in the car, saying that his "flower fortune telling" will tell him who's hiding. They then notice Anya escaping into car 7 and give chase. They lock her in car 6, but when she starts screaming for Papa and Mama, Yor breaks open the locked door. She asks Anya who the two men are and Anya says that they're chocolate thieves who were being mean to her. Yor beats them up (after telling Anya to cover her eyes) just as the train arrives at Frejis station (Anya seems to feel bad that she sicced Yor on them when she was the actual chocolate thief). When they get off the train, Loid says that they should start heading to their destination (as Yor starts building a snowman). After they get their luggage and leave, Luca and Domitri emerge from the car they were in and say they need to contact the colonel.
The shop that has the melemele is called "Restaurant Rubble and Bonds." Since pets aren't allowed in the restaurant, they leave Bond outside when they go inside to eat. After ordering food along with the melemele, the waitress tells them that they're getting the last melemele. Bond watches them from the window, but then a waitress comes over and feeds him the special pet plate, which he happily eats. As the Forgers are eating, Loid tells Anya that she shouldn't eat with her hands, and that using a knife and fork are proper manners. Yor watches and notices the turtleneck sweater Loid is wearing, which makes her realize it's something that he never wears. She then thinks of Camilla's second sign of cheating, a change in clothing taste. The chef comes over and tells them how the war in Frejis was mostly fought in the sky, and the aircraft displayed at the front of the station belonged to a two-man team famous for shooting down planes during the war.
There's a brief scene where Yuri overhears his coworkers at the SSS talking about Frejis, and he of course wants to go since he knows Yor is there now. But the boss won't let him, so he makes a bit of a scene.
Back at the restaurant, the chef continues to talk about the war and how he lost everything at that time. His decision behind making a restaurant catering to families was so people could experience the homemade food that he remembered his mom used to make. Loid can't help but relate the chef's backstory to his own. The melemele is finally ready and brought to the table.
Just as Anya is about to dig in, Colonel Snidel and some other soldiers enter the restaurant. The waitress and chef try to tell them that only families are allowed, but Snidel says that the military have authority in this area, even when it comes to food, and could close down the restaurant if they wanted to. They order the melemele, and when they're told that there isn't any left, one of the soldiers takes the melemele from Anya. Loid politely tells the soldiers that his daughter was really looking forward to eating it and if they could possibly order a different dessert. Snidel asks if they're tourists that came here to eat the melemele. Loid replies that they travel around trying delicious food. Snidel challenges Loid to a competition – if Loid wins, he'll give them back the melemele. The competition involves trying the three cakes that were placed on the table and correctly naming every type of sugar in them. Even though Loid correctly names them, Snidel also mentions the exact number of grams, making his answers the most accurate. Everyone's bummed that Loid lost, but he says that they could try coming back again. However, the chef tells them that they won't have more until Monday, which is when the Forgers have to be back in Berlint for the cooking competition. Yor asks the chef that if they provide their own ingredients, would he make it for them, and he agrees.
The Forgers go to the Frejis marketplace to get the ingredients from the list that the chef provided. Having already memorized the list, Loid moves at super speed to every shop and quickly finds most of the ingredients. When he goes looking for the orange syrup, a man from a cosmetic shop asks if he'll buy one of the many lipsticks there for his wife. He picks one out, mentioning how back on the train Yor had said that her lipstick wasn't working out and if this one is a nice color. She's embarrassed at first, but then agrees that it's a nice color and accepts…but then she's reminded of Camilla's last sign of cheating: suddenly giving a gift (meanwhile Loid is just thinking how putting on the happy couple appearance is part of the mission). With all three signs of cheating having taken place, Yor says that she's going to the bathroom and dejectedly walks away. Loid wonders if she's just tired from the trip and if she'll be okay. Anya then calls Loid over to a shooting game booth that has the orange syrup as one of the prizes. After attempting the game and failing, Anya reads the booth owner's mind and realizes it's rigged. Loid gets suspicious as well and is able to masterfully shoot down the orange syrup while also exposing the owner's scam.
Loid is ready to look for the last ingredient, but then Anya runs off to ride the mini train. Yor rejoins them, having put on the lipstick while she was in the bathroom. Loid says it suits her and asks if she'd like to get a drink somewhere. They go to a café booth where Loid orders coffee. But Yor, thinking how she needs to confirm the whole cheating thing with Loid and can't open up without the help of alcohol, orders several cups of heated wine. She finally gets drunk enough to ask Loid if he has a lover.
From the train, Anya looks over to see Yor grab Loid's scarf and pull him to the ground. Anya freaks out about "Papa and Mama flirting." They're both on the ground now, with Yor hovering over Loid before she finally passes out. She wakes up on a bench, where Loid asks if she's okay. She apologizes for what she did, but thinks that Loid will definitely want a divorce after what happened. When Anya reads her mind, she thinks of what Becky told her about divorces and how they cause families to fall apart. She then hears the ferris wheel attendant calling for people to ride, saying that it'll be a happy, "flirty" experience. Anya tells Loid and Yor that she wants to ride the ferris wheel, but then ushers them onto the gondola without joining them, much to their surprise. She tells them to get "flirty," to Loid's dismay. Yor tells Bond to look after Anya.
Yor realizes that she must look really bleak right now and it's making Anya worry. Loid asks if she's okay and she again apologizes for her behavior earlier. Loid replies that she's been acting weird for a while, causing Yor to finally admit that she saw him with his "lover"…someone with a large hat. Tears start welling in her eyes, so she covers her face with her hands to hide them. Realizing that the person she's referring to was Fiona, Loid explains that she wasn't a lover, just someone who needed directions to the art museum. Feeling embarrassed about her mistake, Yor looks away from Loid and out the window. She sees Anya and Bond below, the former waving happily at her. Yor waves back before mentioning if Loid could want a divorce, to which he light-heartily replies "no way." Yor says that she's lacking in a lot of ways, not just as a mother but as Loid's wife. Loid then takes her hands in his, looks straight into her eyes and reminds her of the promise he made via their marriage proposal.
He says the marriage vows again before stating that he has no intention of breaking his promise. As Loid gets closer to her, Yor's face reddens and her heart races until she finally breaks – she smacks Loid on the cheek, sending him flying out of the gondola (which had reached the ground). But he adjusts himself in midair and lands gracefully on his feet. Yor grabs their belongings from the gondola and hurries out. Upon seeing Loid's swollen cheek, Anya panics that Papa and Mama were fighting and the Forger family is over. Loid and Yor object to this, with Loid saying that they weren't fighting. Anya then says that they were flirting, but they object to that as well, faces red with embarrassment. Anya just grins at them.
The clock tower bell chimes, signaling 5 o' clock. When Loid muses that it got so late already, Yor apologizes that it was due to her passing out from drinking too much. Loid asks if she and Anya will go back to the hotel while he gets the remaining ingredient, cherry liquor. He thinks to himself how it's something rare that would not likely be sold at a store, so he'd have to get it through illegal means, which means that Yor and Anya can't accompany him.
Snidel gets out of his military vehicle in front of a flying battleship. He's greeted by several soldiers who tell him that route negotiations with the Arbo Republic have ended and adjustments to Type F have been completed. Snidel suddenly shoots and kills one of the operations leaders, claiming he's a traitor who leaked military information to WISE. Luca and Domitri then arrive and inform him that the microfilm was eaten.
Meanwhile, Sylvia meets with a bunch of WISE agents at their Berlint hideout. She tells them that they lost contact with their Frejis agent, suspecting that Snidel has taken action. She says that if the microfilm reaches the Arbo Republic, it could lead to an all-out war between the East and West. She doesn't think their agent had gotten the microfilm, but she knows Twilight is currently in Frejis, so he may be their only hope. She orders a couple of the male agents to meet with Twilight at Frejis and get the microfilm. However, Fiona interrupts and requests that Sylvia leave the mission to her instead. Sylvia objects, but Fiona is already leaving the room and on her way, thinking over and over to herself "A mission with senpai, a mission with senpai, a mission with senpai…"
Back at Frejis, Loid looks everywhere for the cherry liquor – he sneaks into a moonshine factory and even the wine cellar of a wealthy man, but still can't find it. He calls Franky at his tabacco shop in Berlint, inadvertently interrupting Franky's flirting with a pretty girl. He asks Franky if he can get the cherry liquor and that he needs it by tomorrow morning. Franky says he'll try but it would take him half a day to even get to Frejis, but Loid had already hung up.
At the hotel, Yor unpacks while Anya admires the hotel amenities ("Hotel TV!" "Hotel toilet!" "Hotel bed!") She then takes her toys out of her bag – among them are crayons, a sketchbook, a rubber duckie, and a toy gun. She pretends to shoot Bond with the gun, then points the gun at Yor and asks if she's the "boss." At first Yor is uneasy about partaking in Anya's game, but then she gives in and pretends to be the boss who wants the treasure. This makes Anya even more fired up and she says "Let's battle, polite lady boss!" The three of them continue playing.
Loid returns to the hotel and finds Anya's drawings of the ferris wheel and shooting game booth on the table. Anya's sleeping on the sofa while Yor puts a blanket over her. Loid says that he's going out again because he found the liquor at a neighboring town. Since it's a bit far, he's taking a car that he's borrowing from the hotel. Anya wakes up and calls Loid a liar since he said he would be back soon but came back so late. He apologizes, but then she reads his mind as he thinks about the fact that if Anya doesn't get a stella soon, Operation Strix and their family will be over. Anya says she wants to come along with Loid, but when he turns her down, she sadly goes back to the bedroom with Bond. When Loid starts to leave, asking Yor to take care of Anya, Yor asks him how many seats there are in the car he borrowed. He answers five. She then asks if they can all go together, since it's a family trip.
In the bedroom, Anya hugs Bond while thinking about the sad state of the family. Bond suddenly has a vison of the cherry liquor behind the cash register of a store at the plaza. At first Anya wants to tell Loid about it, but then she thinks that her secret would be revealed if she did (Loid would say "How did you know that? You can read minds? And Bond can see the future?") After realizing she can't tell him about it, she looks towards the window...
Meanwhile, Yor tells Loid how happy it made Yuri to be with her all day for special occasions like birthdays and family outings, and that it's the same with Anya. Loid thinks back to how happy Anya was when they were doing things together on the trip, such as playing trump, playing in the snow, and eating at the restaurant. He picks up the toy gun on the table and thinks back to how grateful Anya was for being able to play "spy" at the old castle. As he returns the gun to the table, Yor tells him how Anya was looking forward to so many things on this family trip, like eating sweets and playing together. She says she understands Anya's feelings since she's made Yuri feel lonely before. She tells Loid that Anya was really looking forward to being with him and how lonely it is to be separated from your family. She asks again if they could all go together to get the liquor at the next town, even though it's passed Anya's bedtime. When he starts thinking of the possible harm of bringing Anya with him, he pushes those thoughts aside and agrees with Yor.
Suddenly, room service knocks at the door. When Yor says that she didn't order any, Loid looks through the peep hole and sees Fiona disguised as a maid. He then says that he forgot to order a large bathrobe and steps outside. In the hotel corridor, he asks Fiona why she's here. She repeats "room service" while actually saying "it's a mission" in spy talk. Loid says that she can talk normally since it's just the two of them, and asks if she could be quick since he's also on a mission. She starts blabbering internally about how she's alone with him – LOVE!
Back in the room, Yor hears a noise from the bedroom, and when she goes to look, the window is open and both Anya and Bond are gone. Meanwhile, Fiona explains the mission about the microfilm to Loid. When she mentions Colonel Snidel, Loid thinks back to his encounter with Snidel and the military back at the restaurant. Yor suddenly comes out of the room and tells Loid that Anya ran away through the window. She had left a note behind, but when Loid goes to read it, the handwriting is extremely messy – he can make out the word "sorry" (misspelled).
Anya and Bond arrive at the shop in the plaza from Bond's vision. She buys the bottle of liquor and happily walks with Bond back to the hotel, thinking that now the Forger family will be okay. At the same time, the military is looking for girls that match Anya's description, using a picture that Luca drew of her. Bond starts barking when he notices Luca and Domitri pull up in a car behind Anya. Anya and Bond try to run away, but Luca pulls Anya into the car. Bond bites Luca's arm but gets pushed away. As they drive off with Anya in the car, they run over a can in the road that hits Bond in the head. Bond howls sadly as he watches the car disappear. Back at the battleship, Snidel says that it will depart as soon as they get the microfilm.
Loid and Yor run through town calling for Anya. They find Bond collapsed on the side of the road. Loid asks if he's okay and if Anya was with him. Bond barks and tries to gesture about what happened, but Loid and Yor can't understand him. However, Loid notices something in Bond's mouth – Luca's armband that he had bitten off. Loid recognizes it and is in disbelief that Anya got caught up in the military.
Then Fiona, still disguised as the hotel maid, pulls up in a car nearby and calls to Loid saying that he dropped something. In "spy talk" however, she says that he should prioritize getting the microfilm over Operation Strix. Loid thinks for a minute, then says loudly (so Yor can hear) "Ma'am, I would like to ask a favor…"
Meanwhile, Anya is brought before Snidel. Upon seeing him, she shouts that he's the guy who ate her dessert. He says that more important than the melemele, she ate their chocolate. She then states that he's the boss of those thieves. Luca and Domitri reprimand her for not using polite speech in front of the colonel. Snidel asks if she's been to the toilet since. Anya reads his mind as he thinks about how they hid the microfilm in the chocolate, and it's better to wait until she poops it out before killing her. Anya then realizes that the chocolate she ate on the train had the "treasure" inside, and if she poops, she'll be killed. Anya then nervously says that she's so cute that poop has never come out of her body, but then admits that she's lying upon seeing Snidel's cold gaze. Snidel instructs Luca and Domitri to take Anya with them and inform him if she poops. Anya begins holding her butt and starts shaking in fear. Domitri asks if she has to go, but she says she's just cold. She knows she mustn't poop or she'll be killed, but the more she thinks about it, the more she has to go!
Back at the Frejis plaza in front of the station, Loid boards the old fighter plane that was parked there. He's able to operate the communication device and listen in on signals from Snidel's flying battleship. He manages to catch some of Luca and Domitri's conversation with Anya, including them saying that she's in this mess because she ate the microfilm. Upon realizing that Anya ate the microfilm, he breaks into a cold sweat, but quickly regains his composure as he gets off the plane and meets with Yor, who was waiting worriedly outside. He tells her that he thinks Anya is with the military, since he heard from the radio signals that they seem to have taken custody of a girl around five years old. Yor asks why Anya would be with the military. Loid knows that he didn't have any time to come up with an explanation, so he cuts the power cable on the plane and climbs back into the cockpit. As the propellers begin spinning, he asks Yor to stand back and tells her that he'll return soon. Yor thinks back to the two men who attacked Anya on the train and realizes that they might have been from the military, but she can't tell Loid about that or he'd know that she beat them up. She recalls what she said to Loid earlier: that they should all go together because it's a family trip. As the plane leaves, Yor jumps onto it and forces open the door at the bottom. Loid continues to pilot the plane into the Frejis sky, unaware that Yor is also on board.
Back at the WISE hideout, Sylvia thinks to herself that "the fate of the world depends on getting that microfilm…we're counting on you, Twilight."
Back at the battleship, Anya is trying hard to resist the urge to go to the bathroom. She moves her body back and forth to try and hold off the urge, which only makes Luca ask if she has to go. She says no and that she's just doing a dance she learned at school.
Meanwhile, Fiona infiltrates the Frejis air traffic control so she can communicate with Loid on the plane. She tells him the location of Snidel's battleship. Loid compliments her on being able to get the information so quickly, causing her to say that she's ready to be his lifelong partner anytime and asks again if he'd let her have the wife role for Operation Strix…but the communication line had already been cut.
Back at the battleship, Anya is still doing her "dance" to resist the urge to poop, but she's practically at her limit (Luca and Domitri had also prepared a duck-shaped potty for her). She's sweating, tearing up, and her stomach is rumbling. When she feels her consciousness wavering, a bright light suddenly fills her eyes. She finds herself standing in a beautiful meadow filled with colorful flowers and poop shaped clouds overhead. She hears a voice and looks up to see a divine-looking old man surrounded by light. He has a poop shaped crown and he's holding a staff with a poop shaped top. He tells her that he's the god of poop.
He says, "You've fought well, warrior Anya. You've tried your best to protect world peace but...enough is enough." He puts his hand on her shoulder. She can feel his compassion flowing through his palms. "Relax your butt and rest, warrior Anya. Let's go to the peaceful garden of the toilet!" Anya tries to fly through the sky like the poop god, but ends up falling into the ocean. However, she's saved by waves of toilet paper that lift her towards a temple lined with statues of the poop god. A toilet is enshrined in front of the statues. The poop god gives a shout, and the toilet paper carrying Anya turns into a giant duck potty. The poop god waves his staff and the duck speeds out of the water, heading towards the bathroom above the alter. The lid of the toilet opens with another shout from the poop god and the duck moves faster. Finally the duck bursts into a ball of light and Anya falls, laughing, into the shining toilet.
Back in reality, Anya finds herself on a bed in a room on the battleship. After hearing her mutter to herself about "what's the god of poop?" Luca excitedly asks if she's ready to poop and puts the duck potty on the bed. As soon as Anya looks at the duck, she comes to her sense and says, "no, I'm good." While Anya stays with Domitri, Luca reports to Snidel that Anya still hasn't pooped yet. Snidel tells him to cut open her stomach. Luca is taken aback by this and tries to protest, but after Snidel presses him, he reluctantly agrees to do it.
Meanwhile, Domitri is trying an exorcism ritual to get Anya to poop – he makes her lay on the bed with a banana, corn, and a pineapple along with coffee beans between them, all the while singing a song about "yellow three." When Luca returns, he asks Domitri what he's doing. Domitri replies that according to his coffee fortune telling, "yellow three" is lucky. Luca then tells him Snidel's orders and asks if Domitri would do it. Since neither of them want to, they decide via rock-paper-scissors, and Domitri wins. Anya reads Luca's mind about how he's going to cut open her stomach while Domitri holds her down. She starts shaking and thinks of Papa and Mama.
Meanwhile, Loid flies the plane close to the battleship and contacts them on the radio. He says that his plane is in a state of emergency due to a fuel system failure and would like to request an emergency landing on the battleship. When one of the soldiers tells Snidel that an unknown aircraft is requesting permission to board, Snidel demands that they shoot it down. Loid steers the plane out of the way of the sudden hail of bullets while Yor, still hiding in the back, hangs on as the plane starts shaking violently.
Back on the battleship, Domitri holds Anya while she screams for Papa and Mama. Luca approaches with a knife.
Back outside, Loid desperately steers the plane to avoid the gunfire from the battleship, including homing missiles. In the back compartment, Yor isn't able to see what's going on, so she thinks to herself that Loid's driving is…rough. Loid manages to dodge the missiles, but one of them explodes next to him, causing the fragments to fall on the plane and damage the left wing. He knows that crashing is inevitable, so he steers the plane towards the battleship. The impact of the plane crashing into the battleship shakes the room where Domitri, Luca, and Anya are in. They all lose their footing and fall, causing Domitri to let go of Anya. She then runs away and through the hallway while they give chase.
Loid jumps out of the cockpit with his bag of spy tools and onto the battleship as the plane crashes. He thinks to himself that he first needs to confirm where Anya is and heads through a narrow passageway. Meanwhile Yor makes her way out of the back part of the plane only to be greeted by a huge gust of wind. She's surprised to be on the outer part of a battleship. She peeks inside the cockpit to look for Loid, but he's not there. She remembers that Loid said Anya was with the military, so she must be on the battleship somewhere. The opening to the bottom of the battleship is too narrow, so she decides to go via the top, breaking into a fast sprint.
The soldiers find the plane wreckage and Snidel gives orders to search for survivors. When one of the soldiers tells him that there's a woman running along the outer part of the battleship, he thinks he's joking. But then he looks at the monitors and sees Yor for himself. He commands that they kill her, since she decided to come aboard using that plane, that makes her an enemy. The turrets at the top of the ship begin firing at Yor, but she swiftly dodges them. One of the soldiers readies a grenade, but she takes off her coat and throws it at him, causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards. When the soldier falls through the deck onto the catwalk, the grenade falls from his hand. Yor gets away just as the grenade explodes, causing the area around the hatch where the soldiers were firing to burst into flames. The soldier watching from the monitor shouts "Explosion on deck 3A!" When she encounters the soldiers, Yor politely says that she came to pick up her husband and daughter, but the soldiers were already unconscious from the explosion. She heads further into the ship. The fire continues to spread through the battleship. Snidel commands the soldiers to go put out the fire, and when asked what to do about the woman, he says to send out Type F.
Meanwhile, Anya is still running away from Luca and Domitri (while still holding her butt). She manages to elude them by slipping into a room without them noticing. She listens by the door, and when she hears that they went off to look for her elsewhere, she breathes a sigh of relief. As she turns around, she notices a toilet in the back of the room. Tears start welling in her eyes…after a long and painful battle, she finally won.
Loid hides in a small room while soldiers are running through the corridors. He wonders to himself what the explosion was and if the plane crash could have possibly damaged the ship's hull. He peeks through a gap in the door and notices an officer who appears to be a captain based on the number of stars on his badge.
After giving orders to the soldiers, the captain walks towards the door. Loid pulls him in, knocks him out, and gags him. He then steps out of the room, now disguised as the captain, wearing his clothes and donning a mask with his face.
The sound of sirens are blaring through the battleship. Yor notices the soldiers desperately trying to put out the fire and apologizes to them. She again says that she came to get her husband and daughter and asks if there's anyone who knows where they are. One of the soldiers looks up and shouts "It's that woman!" The soldiers begin firing at her, but she jumps out of the way, grabs a nearby fire extinguisher and throws it at them, knocking them down like bowling pins. She's confused as to why they're shooting at her, then thinks that they could be part of the bad guy group that attacked Anya on the train. She picks up two knives that the now unconscious soldiers dropped. She then thinks of Anya being in trouble, without anyone protecting her, and her face becomes clouded with anxiety as she tightly grips the knife in her hand.
Meanwhile, Anya happily bursts out of the bathroom with a refreshed look on her face, toilet paper rolling down her feet…only to bump right into Luca and Domitri. Domitri stands proudly with toilet paper around his feet, boasting about his toilet paper fortune telling. Anya's face goes pale. Snidel is informed by one of the soldiers that the child has been secured, and he commands that they bring her to him.
As she continues looking for Loid and Anya, Yor arrives at the entrance to the air cell and pries open the heavy door. She's met with a blast of hot air. The fire has spread all over the spacious room. As she goes further in, she feels a murderous intent behind her. As soon as she starts to look over her shoulder, gatling guns begin firing at her. She jumps out of the way as bullets are showered on her. She goes further down in the air cell just as a gigantic figure appears, slowly moving towards her with heavy footsteps. She politely asks who he is, but Type F doesn't answer. He reaches towards her but Yor kicks him to the ground, only to have more bullets fired at her that she subsequently dodges. She pulls out the knife and pounces on him, managing to knock off his helmet. She asks him to stop attacking but instead he presses his forehead against the knife, making a very inhuman metallic sound, breaking the knife. The arms of his cloak, that had been engulfed in flames, burn off to reveal that he wasn't holding gatling guns, but his arms themselves are guns. The rest of his cloak burns off, revealing a body made entirely of weapons. After he calls Yor an "intruder," she readies the other knife, realizing she has no choice but to fight him.
Meanwhile Loid, still disguised as the captain, gives orders to the soldiers to help them put out the fire. When one of the soldiers asks where the hostage is, Loid questions him and he explains that she's a child about five years old and that officer Domitri took her to the bridge.
At the bridge, Anya is tied and gagged in front of Snidel. Snidel is upset that they missed getting her poop, but Luca says that it could still be in the sewage tanks. Snidel says that it could also still be in her body, which makes Anya even more afraid. Snidel tells them to keep her in the room downstairs and he'll "take care of her" once all the chaos on the battleship is over, while also ominously adding that he brought an extra big knife to enjoy kebobs. He then orders them to go into the sewage tanks and find the microfilm or else he'll cut them like kebobs too.
After leaving Anya in the room, Luca and Domitri grumble about how they're in such a mess because of some greedy kid, and Luca groans that he's still sore from being bitten by the stupid dog. Suddenly Loid, still disguised as the captain, gets the jump on them and knocks them out. He wonders why Anya isn't here since this should be the only bridge on the ship. He enters the room where Snidel is and says that he's going to report on the status of the firefighting operations, but Snidel dismisses him, saying that he's busy now.
In the room below, Anya can read Loid's mind but she can't move or talk due to being tied up and gagged. She realizes that she's tied to a telephone pipe that leads to the room above, so she slams her head against the pipe to get Loid's attention. Just as Loid is deciding to back off so as not to make Snidel suspicious, he hears the banging in the pipe and notices a hatch right below it. He realizes that Anya must be under there, so he pulls off one of the buttons on his uniform and pretends he's going to pick it up when it rolls near the hatch. However, Snidel says "wait, captain" and asks him when he began to smell like...a city. Snidel then immediately shoots at Loid, who manages to dodge, but the bullet grazes the face mask that he's wearing. Snidel continues to fire at Loid, who hides behind a console in the room. Snidel asks if he's the traveler from Rubble and Bonds and says that he shouldn't underestimate the nose of a gourmet like himself. Realizing he's been found out, Loid tears off the captain's mask. Snidel and the other soldiers begin exchanging gunfire with Loid.
Back in the air cell, Type F continues to shoot at Yor, his gatling gun arm having now turned into a grenade launcher. She narrowly dodges his attacks and grabs a fire extinguisher set (with an axe) from the wall. They end up crashing down through the floor, with Yor slamming the axe onto his chest as hard as she can. However, this only reveals a firearm magazine in his chest hatch. The magazine sends bullets into the gatling gun. He aims at Yor again but she jumps away in time. As they stare each other down in the flame filled room, she wonders what she can do against an enemy who can't be damaged by knives or axes.
Meanwhile, Loid continues to exchange gunfire with Snidel and his soldiers. Snidel opens an attaché case with a gas mask and grenade that he calls "Type G." Anya reads Snidel's mind about the grenade being a poison gas grenade that he's been developing and wants to test out. She starts panicking, trying desperately to break free from her binds so she can warn Loid about the poison gas. An image of Loid covered in wounds as he tries to save her flashes in her mind as she thinks "It's Anya's turn to save you!"
Snidel pulls out the pin from the Type G and throws it over to the console where Loid is hiding…just as Anya breaks free. As the rope suddenly breaks, she falls and rolls across the floor, hitting her head against a console in the back of the room. A green light illuminates on the console. Suddenly, the windows in the bridge open and gas starts getting blown all over, much to the confusion of Snidel and the soldiers. Loid uses this opportunity to make a move.
As the gas eventually leaves the room through the open windows, Snidel's men are shocked at what they see through the dissipating gas – their leader Snidel wrestling with…another Snidel! One Snidel tells them to shoot the imposter while the other says that he's the real one. Loid (disguised as Snidel) thinks to himself that since Snidel is the only one with a good nose, he just has to fool the others. Snidel brandishes his knife and threatens to tear off Loid's "imposter skin" and turn it into pork scratching. But Loid gets the upper hand and manages to grab Snidel and cause him to lose his balance, saying that his "imposter" skin isn't so flimsy that it could be cut off by the likes of Snidel. He wraps his left arm around Snidel's neck and tightens his grip, causing Snidel to drop the knife in his hand.
The soldiers are still confused about which is the real one as Snidel's body falls to the floor. Loid says "Do you think I'd lose to a fake," fooling the soldiers into thinking he's the real one. He tells them that they're to head to the Arbo Republic as soon as possible and that they're abandoning the ship. He commands them to use the land route instead. Carrying the body of the real Snidel, the soldiers leave with shouts of "all personnel abandon ship!" When he's finally alone, Loid takes off his Snidel disguise.
Meanwhile, Type F's right arm is overheating but he tells Yor it's no use waiting until he runs out of bullets. Even though his chest plate was torn off earlier, all Yor has left is a broken knife…until she feels around in her pocket and pulls out the lipstick that Loid had bought her. She lowers the knife and tells Type F "this is your last warning, please stand aside. I only came here to get my husband and daughter." But Type F just says that they should all perish together along with the future of the East and West. He then readies another round of bullets. Yor dodges and makes a wide circle around him, dragging the lipstick along the floor. She slashes at his chest with the knife, causing the knife to break. As he jeers that a knife won't work on him, he looks confused for the first time when he notices a line drawn around him with the lipstick, leading up to his chest. She says that she heard that lipstick is half oil. He tries to shoot at her again but it's too late…the flames along the railing run down the lines of lipstick, igniting the weapons embedded in his body, causing him to explode. After confirming that he's been destroyed, Yor continues on her way.
Back on the bridge, Loid opens the hatch to the door where Anya is and jumps down. She's overjoyed to see him as he asks if she's okay. She clings to him and buries her face in his chest. Just then, something falls out of her pochette – the cherry liquor. She tells him it's what Papa was looking for and he realizes that's why she ran away from the hotel. Upon realizing this, he can't help but smile, and Anya smiles too when she reads the thoughts he won't say. Just then they hear a loud explosion. Loid holds onto Anya as the ship shakes from the explosion. "Anyway, we better get out of here" he says.
Meanwhile, Yor opens the hatch at the top of the air cell and makes her way to the outer part of the airship where she sees Loid and Anya. They're both surprised to see her. "Mama!" Anya says as she runs to Yor, who gently hugs her while asking if they're both alright.
Loid asks the same of Yor while also asking why she's here. After hesitating a bit, she admits that she came on Loid's plane and that since it was an "outing," that they should have gone together. She then asks if the people on the airship are actually the military. Loid pauses since he can't tell her the real explanation, but then Anya speaks up about how she ate their important chocolate on the train and that's why they were after her. Loid thinks to himself about how they must have hid the microfilm in the chocolate, but he can't tell that to Yor. So he says that chocolate theft is rampant in cold regions because people believe it will keep them warm...they'd even steal from a military ship. Yor believes him and comments that there's a lot of scary people in the world. They both scold Anya for what she did: Loid asks what the heck she was doing eating that by accident (while in his mind he's glad that she's safe) and Yor says that she shouldn't do whatever she wants with something that belongs to someone else. Anya guiltily says "sorry" and they both can't help but smile at her. They hear more explosions and Loid says that they need to get off the ship. Anya points towards the window and they realize that the ship is heading right towards the city of Frejis. Loid begins operating the device on the console. Yor asks if he knows how to operate it and he says that he knows how from when he did it as part time work when he was a student. Yor is impressed, but Anya knows he's lying.
Down in Frejis, people notice the large, burning battleship descending towards the town and begin running all over in a panic. On the battleship bridge, the ceiling blows off, causing an extremely strong wind to blow. Loid realizes that the propulsion system and lifting platforms are dead, and wonders if it's even possible to make a safe landing or even change course. Behind him, Yor and Anya are holding onto each other while the latter shouts "You can do it, Papa!" Loid says not to worry since the rudder is still intact. However, when he grips it, he can hardly get it to move and the ship is still losing altitude. Debris from the broken ceiling rains down on his head, causing him to lose his balance. Just then, he feels something on his right hand…Yor's hand. And on his left hand, Anya's. "Please let me help, too" says Yor, "Anya too!" says Anya. Working together, the three of them are able to move the rudder little by little.
The Frejis clock tower looms before them but they're able to steer the ship so that it narrowly avoids colliding and only grazes the side of the clock tower. The ship continues to lose altitude, heading towards the surface of a large frozen lake. Yor hugs Anya close to protect her as the ship shakes violent from the impact of the landing. The battered ship glides along the surface of the water at high speed, whipping up a cloud of steam. The frozen water crashes onto the ship, putting out the fire. On a hill not too far away from Frejis, Bond and Fiona stand near Fiona's car and watch with bated breath as the battleship crashes into the lake. "Senpai…" "Borf, borf, borf!"
Back at the ship, the Forges escape from the collapsed bridge and onto the roof. They look in wonder at the pretty scene before them of the glittering ice particles shining against the city lights like diamond dust. Suddenly, water that had collected on the deck roof pours onto them like a waterfall, leaving them soaked. They're perplexed for a moment before Anya bursts out laughing with a "waku waku splash!" Then Yor also laughs. As he watches the two of them laughing, Loid smiles softly.
Suddenly Anya sneezes and Loid notices something in her mouth. Loid realizes it's the microfilm, smaller than a fingernail. He wonders if it had somehow gotten stuck in her teeth. When Yor asks what it is, he clutches the microfilm in his hand and replies with a smile, "it's a return ticket."
The next morning at Berlint, Yuri listens to the news at his desk at the SSS: "The flying battleship that landed in Lake Frejis last night appears to have been an accident during a training flight. The committee has announced that it has already begun interviewing the manufacturer and the military." He remembers that Frejis is where Yor said she was taking a trip to and he wonders if she's okay. His lieutenant then opens the door and requests some documents. Yuri asks why the SSS has to be the ones to clean up this incident, and the lieutenant replies that if the people found out that the military was behind it, that would be troublesome. After the lieutenant leaves, Yuri muses to himself how it seems that WISE intervened in the incident though there's no solid information. He wonders how they could have possibly done it, then thinks "it must have been him…Twilight."
At the WISE hideout, Sylvia reads the newspaper headline which states that there were no survivors of the battleship incident. She compliments Loid, saying that even though the SSS put out the fire so to speak, he managed to not leave a trace of the Forgers' involvement. Loid replies that yes, the Forgers were just enjoying a normal family vacation. He takes out a wine bottle from his bag. Sylvia peels off the label, revealing the microfilm. She then tells him that he's back in charge of Operation Strix, much to Loid's surprise. She hands him a photo of Depple at night with a strange woman and says that his affair was exposed and he was disowned by the father of his wife. Loid smiles slightly when he notices that the woman with Depple in the photo is a WISE agent – in other words, he had fallen into their trap.
Afterwards, Loid meets up with Yor, Anya, and Bond at the park by a fountain. Yor asks how his patient was and he replies that it wasn't a big deal considering they called him out of nowhere. Anya asks Loid why there's no fish in the water and he flatly replies because it's a fountain. She then calls to Yor, taking her hand and leading her to the fountain. As Loid watches them happily talk about something, and Bond following along and enjoying himself, Loid lets out a sigh, but his expression is surprisingly soft. He thinks that even though he's able to continue Operation Strix, he can't let his guard down and needs to keep focusing on acquiring stellas. Anya reads his mind and is overjoyed that the Forger family isn't finished. Loid says that they should go home now since Anya has to "train" to make the melemele for the cooking competition tomorrow. Even though they weren't able to eat a real melemele, they at least have the ingredients for one. Anya asks to hold Loid and Yor's hand as she happily chants that she's going to make a yummy pastry. When Yor says that she'll help too, Loid and Anya politely turn her down. They then head home together.
At the Eden classroom, the students are preparing their cooking ingredients. Becky says that she's going to make an orange layer cake that she learned from training with her pastry chef. She asks Anya what she's going to make. When Anya replies "melemele," Damian overhears and comments that it's an old pastry. Anya tells him that if she makes something good, she wants him to have it too. Damian's face reddens as he shouts that he'd never eat anything she makes. With a shocked face, she asks if he really hates it that much. This makes Damian's face redden even more as he shouts that he'd vomit if he ate her food. He runs off with Ewen and Emile following. Becky comments that he's the worst while Anya thinks that the friendship scheme is a failure. Just then, Anya and Becky turn towards the direction of an explosion sound.
Later that day, Anya shows Loid and Yor a note from school saying that the school kitchen broke down so the competition was postponed and the judge was changed to the vice principal due to scheduling conflicts. Anya laments that since it's not the principal, the melemele won't work. Loid thinks for a moment and says that he remembers reading in the school newspaper that the vice principal is crazy about the berry pudding from the southern region. He asks if they should go, and both Yor and Anya agree. Loid opens a map and points out the southern region. He says it's warm there so they shouldn't need a lot of luggage. Anya is excited about going to the ocean and wonders what playing cards she should bring while Loid thinks it would be a good opportunity for her to learn how to swim. Upon hearing all the talking, Bond comes over from where he was sleeping and gives a happy "Borf!"
Meanwhile at Frejis station, Franky trembles in the cold and shouts "Hey Loid, I bought the cherry liquor!!!"

Afterword: Congratulations if you've read this far! When I first started this project, I honestly didn't think I would write this much for a "summary" 😅 I thought it would just be a few paragraphs tops. But as I translated, I was like "oh, this is interesting, I should write it down!" And I just kept going with that and didn't want to stop! Some may wonder why I would want to spoil myself to this degree, but for me, reading about the movie (in a language I'm not fluent in) is still no replacement for actually seeing it for myself - the novelization doesn't convey every line of dialogue, character action/expression, voices, etc. But now that I know what to expect, I can get myself hyped for the scenes I'm looking forward to seeing while also not getting my hopes up for something I won't see. I don't care to do this for most things, but I'm the opposite when it comes to my hyperfixations like SxF! I'm also not going to give my thoughts on the movie until I see it for myself. But I will say that based on the novelization, even though I thought a few things could be better, overall I think it will be a ton of fun and can't wait to see everything in full animated glory!
Again, please remember to be cautious about where you share spoilers and to properly tag posts on social media. And if you end up sharing large portions of this summary elsewhere, a shoutout to my blog would be nice...I spent many hours working on this!

Thoughts about Prison3r bc she's making me go insane
Spoilers under the cut (also minor spoilers - chapter name & brief discussion of other routes - in the tags, so don't read those lol)
I have a feeling the Cage is going to get overshadowed by Sp3ctre & Happily Ever After, but I was really surprised by the direction they took her in, and I think she makes Pris all the more tragic as a character.
IMO, the Prisoner route kind of functions as a giant trust fall. You've established in the previous chapter that you're skeptical of this whole setup (hence voice of the skeptic, lmao) and willing to help the Princess, and this route puts that to the test. Can you focus on what's important without getting caught up in questioning irrelevant details (the empty shackle)? Can you trust the Princess enough to give her your weapon? And on the other side of that, can she trust you to understand her plan?
Part of what makes the Prisoner compelling to me is the unspoken trust she has in the player (part of why I've never understood the take that she doesn't actually care about you? Maybe we've got some Autism2Autism telepathy going on though). Her lines in the Shifting Mound fight (if you free her) talks about how "shared skepticism blossomed into trust", and the Drowned Grey further implies that she put a lot of trust and hope in the player which they ended up betraying.
I was expecting Prison3r to play with that betrayal of trust - she showed we could trust her, but her trust in us was misplaced. It doesn't really matter if you leaving the head was an honest mistake or not, we still let her down. I was expecting a scenario where we'd be stuck apologizing to a Princess who couldn't bring herself to trust us again, no matter how sincere we were being. I was expecting her to be angry. I didn't expect her to just... give up.
If the Drowned Grey is meant to represent the Prisoner (metaphorically) letting go of the tight control she has of her emotions, (literally) drowning you in her (metaphorical) grief and rage, then the Cage is the opposite, locking her emotions even deeper away. Shifty describes her as (paraphrasing here, emphasis mine) "someone who wishes she could be just a set of eyes and ears." The Cage isn't angry with you for leaving her behind. Why should she be? It was her mistake, after all. She shouldn't have been so stupid to think she could break the cycle and actually be freed.
The route also plays with the contrast between the Princess and the Player (via the voices) in fun ways. While the Cage is already resigned to repeating the cycle, skeptic (and paranoid, if you get him) are panicking for the whole route, trying desperately to find a way out of it while unintentionally forcing you to into the same patterns as before (by forcing us to take the knife. Thanks guys, very cool).
It honestly feels like the perfect response to the common fan complaint of "Why is the Prisoner mad at you for leaving her head behind? It was an accident!". Well, here you go. She's not mad at you. It would honestly feel better if she was.
#slay the princess#stp#slay the princess spoilers#stp spoilers#pristine cut spoilers#stp prisoner#whoooooo tag ramble to hopefully put spoiler tags below the cut aw yeah let's go boys wow look at how long this tag is how long do you thin#we can make it#ok that's good i think#stp cage#i like REALLY want to make a Johnny or Nicholas Cage joke about her but she kind of makes me too sad#(for now)#for the record i totally get why sp3ctre & dams3l are getting more attention and they ABSOLUTELY deserve all the love they get#they had a lot more surprises in store & both would've made a great finale for a playthrough#honestly prison3r felt more fitting as a beginning (to my specific playthrough)#my routes got more optimistic as they went along#final misc thought i couldn't make flow naturally into the rest:#another way it's a good response to complaints surrounding the 'abandon the prisoner's head' thing is the theme of denying responsibility#it's not *your* fault you abandoned her#you didn't know what was going on#it's not *her* fault she's hurting you#she's never gotten a choice

Purple ribs [Vil Schoenheit]
Warning's: Spoilers for The Shaftlands' Tapis Rouge (some things are changed yet some parts are taken out of the actual in-game event), OOC Vil, Suggestive in The 24th of May at the end, mostly fluff with small pinch of angst in some parts, meet the in-law type, Reader is mentioned to have knowledge in humanities and able to play an instrument, Reader is adopted by Crowley. (Let me know if I forgot something).
word count: 19k
[NOT PROOFREAD]
A/N: So, after two years of not writing I decided to write something. Mainly because I watched the The Shaftlands' Tapis Rouge event on some JP channel and had to go through the trouble of translating almost every line in the wideo to get the grasp of what's going on. Generally I just saw Eric the th time again and thought 'damn, I wanna write something'. It's not my best work, so please, treat it as a crackfic. I wrote it when I had COVID and fever. I felt like I was high at that time so excuse me if the fic doesn't make any sense. Just keep in mind please that after not writing for two years I got out of shape. I'll be honest, I don't even like it, I disliked it when I was in the proces of writing it. I also got frustrated with OOC Vil and tried to write him in the most canon way yet here I am (failure) LMAO. Nevermind, please enjoy.
The 19th of April, XXXXX ' Today is… April, nineteenth.. ah, yes. So, where should I begin… Today my boyf- partner asked me if I would go with him to visit some city - Fairest City, to be clear. Well, I shouldn't be surprised yet here I am. I could say he just wanted me to tag along out of responsibility as a partner or something, but no. It isn't the reason.. not when I have The Vil as my bo beloved - yeah. He wasn't even hiding his intentions. He enquired just like that. As for me, of course, I agreed. I mean, how could I refuse? Personally, I wouldn't understand someone who would. Or in general, I don't get people who just because make a disdainful image of him in their heads, as if he's just a puppet on the scene, moving on strings pulled by anybody. Ah, it's not time for that. I just wanted to make a note of what happened today. But… No, seriously. It's confusing for me. How could someone hate him when he's just being… so sweet? '
Indeed. How could someone hate Vil?
The room temperature was just correct. Not too hot, not too cold. Even the air was perfect. It's one of those kinds when you wake up without feeling dryness in your mouth. The weather was nice too. It may be just april, yet you could feel the nature spreading it's wings and making every plant wake up from their winter slumber. The flowers started opening themselves and maybe by the end of the month the will show their beautiful petals to the world. The sun was softly shining and entering the room by one of the windows. Such radiation made the curtains have a beautiful glow, which could remind one of those paintings from the nineteenth century.
"[Name], dear, I almost forgot to ask you something"
At the vanity table was sitting a blonde man. Even though he was applying his make-up with utmost precision, he did not slouch nor did he had trouble keeping his attention at you. Heaven forbid someone accuses him of not being able to keep eye contact with you by the mirror, which was just one of the vanities table pros along with many small sized cabinets.
"Hm? Wassup?" If it wasn't you, the reply would make him angry. You didn't ever feel like it was a privilege, it was just normal for you that Vil never made a fuss about it. How were you supposed to know it? I mean, it's not like you talked with him like that before you were in relationship with him yet still. Maybe next time you say something similar in a public place (Pomefiore's lounge, for an example), you should look at others faces or maybe just give Epel a quick glance to see his expression. An expression, which would be aghast and then flabbergasted after seeing his scary housewarden just mostly ignore how improper is it to act like a blasphemous who doesn't know basic manners and just reply to you in somehow pleased tone. You hear that? A pleased tone! This should be a transgression!
"I'll be visiting Fairest City, I have some things to do there. I'll be also taking Jamil, Azul and Ace with me as my bodyguards." Vil said meanwhile applying some eyeshadow on his lid.
"Uh… that's great?"
"I'm not asking you to give me your opinion on the thing but to tell me if you would like to accompany me, dear." He seized your silhouette which was lazily spreaded on his majestically large bed (too large for normal school standards, but is anything in NRC even normal?), not very interested in the case. Once again, for tangling his sheets, he would probably throw out the guest from his room, but he didn't do it since why would he get mad at you for such a silly thing? It's just bedsheet. Besides, he would remind you later to fix them if they would look messy.
"Wait, you want me to be your bodyguard?!" From the shock his words gave you, you just as if you got hit by lighting, quickly got up on your elbows. "Hey, Vil, don't tell me I'm going to carry your shopping bags! I know how your most normal 'shopping spree' looks like! And I bet it will involve cosmetics, oh my god…"
It's not like you didn't want to help your boyfriend with his shopping or anything. You would love to, really! If only his shopping didn't look like a Chanel burglary.
"Potato." The stern voice made you frezze and stop your anxious muttering. It's not like you were foreign to Vil being his strict persona. You have heard and seen it many times. Yet now it felt like you did something very wrong.
"I would rather be condemned than suggest something like this to you my dear. My.. you think quite unflattery about me, hm?" The expression that could be a scowl (a pretty one!) soon after turned into not so condescending smirk. You knew he didn't mean anything harmful by it and was only teasing you.
"..Really. I wanted to ask if you would like to go with me there. Not as a bodyguard, 'unnecessary luggage' or.. Gott bewahre es, some porter but as an accompanying person, just as my partner."
He finished one of his eyes. The make-up, as usual, looked most perfect. Nothing was out of place. It wasn't heavy. It was soft, subtle look which somehow still made his eyes sharper and even more better looking than before.
"I want you to just enjoy the time we'll spend there. Treat it as a vacation."
"Oh."
"Just 'oh'? That's quite disappointing reaction I fear." Vil chuckled softly dovering his mouth with his hand which only gave him more elegance and properness, having the best time of his life it seems.
"I mean.. o-of course! I'll gladly accompany you, Vil!" You didn't want to sound shocked yet the way the blonde was still having his too happy for your liking smile, you were sure you failed.
He gave himself a look in the mirror. Content with the after look, he quickly finished it with a little bit dark red lipstick. Still gazing into the mirror, he moved his bangs aside as not to distract his vision. He moved a stray strand of hair behind his ear and then turned his head in your direction, now having all of his focus on you. His amethyst eyes tore into yours as if he was checking out your soul.
"Well then, shall I help you with packing?"
(DE) Gott bewahre es - God forbid.
The 20th of March, XXXXX ' Sometimes I just think how in the world I am dating this man. I mean, it's not like I am unhappy - it's actually the opposite. He's so pretty. So unreachable. Then why did he got interested in me? It's not like I am someone who's popular or attractive enough for other people to just turn their heads in my direction after catching a sight of me. You get what I am talking about, right? I'm pretty sure anyone would be surprised a superstar, a worldwide known model is.. 'yearning' for them. When did it even happen? When he started liking me? Was it me who fell first? Or not.. maybe it was him.. nevertheless, I remember how I started seeing him in different light. I think it was after SDC thing, right after he apologized for his behavior and him failing the whole team. '
Crowds. So many crowds.
"Godness.." You sighed. It was the lunch break and you were hungry. After having almost an hour long lecture, you were tired.
"Don't dramatize. I told Deuce to take our seats." Ace sure was in great mood for someone who recently failed their exam. He leisurely started walking towards our table where Deuce was already waiting for us. "Holy moly, look at that queue!" He commented with shock after seeing how many people decided right now was the most perfect time to get some food. "[Name], go sit. I'll order your usual. You look quite dejected, huh?"
"No, it's just.. I'm sleep deprived." The girl tried to divert her friend's attention from her state. She may have lied a little bit since the lack of sleep wasn't exactly the main cause of her upset mood.
"Man, if you were in Heartslabyul, Riddle would chew you out for that!" Ace laughed while he was putting his stuff near yours on the bench. "Okay, I'll be going. You owe me one." He winked and slightly sticked his tongue out and soon after left.
You sighed again.
"[Name], are you sure you're okay?" Deuce, who was sitting on your left, asked concerned. To him, you looked like him when he is preparing for an alchemy exam, which made him worried. "If you need a.. supporting shoulder, I am here!" He puffed his chest, putting on his 'honor student' persona.
"Thank you Deuce, but it's okay." You smiled at your friend and stared blankly at the table. "It's just.. I'm having a problem with someone rather than something."
"WHAT?! SOMEONE IS BOTHERING YOU?!" The dark haired boy shouted, thunderstruck from what he heard from you. A second later he cringed, realizing that he unconsciously raised his voice which made some studnets turn their heads in direction of your table. Some of them curious, some annoyed with the ucalled for noise. "Ag. Sorry.." He said still upset with his behavior. He bowed slightly in the directions of the others who heard him.
"No, I mean.. I'm just thinking about someone. Like, not a few times a day but day and night." You fidgeted with your fingers as to feel less awkward.
"Huh.. so you're saying you have a.. crush?" Deuce suggested, a little bit proud of himself that all those times where Cater was yapping his ear of paid off.
"Crush?" Startled, you questioned. Crush. To you it sounded a little bit weird. It could be a little, small fascination but a crush? No way.
"Yeah, like, a person you think about all the time and then you date them, right?" Spade maybe wasn't the sharpest tool in the sheet but he wasn't an idiot. He noticed your dreamy gaze and the absence in the material plane. Just like Ace, he payed great attention to you.
"A..yeah! But.. I don't think I really have a 'crush', you know. I'm just.. observing him occasionally. Nothing more." You almost felt yourself beam with elegy.
"..now that sounds like unconscious stalking."
"Agh! I'm not stalking him nor do I have a crush. I just like him only a little bit!" You tried to defend yourself from your probably knowing already what's going on buddy.
"Like who only a little bit?"
You squealed hearing somebody's voice behind you. You almost got a whiplash injury from turning your head too quickly. Deuce stiffed too.
Ace came back with two trays of food and placed them on the table. He put under your nose a croissant with choco filling. "A little gift for you." He patted your back and sat with you and Deuce.
"So? What both of you were talking about?" He chirped while eating his food. Ace's perceptivity was something you really admired but right now you wish your friend was as ignorant as you to the world.
Deuce gave you a look, a little bit uncertain if he should tell Ace your secret. You locked eyes with him and shaked your head as no.
"Nothing. We have been talking about our exams." You tried to keep a unmoved face.
"Yeaaah. Sure." Trappola was now one hundred procent sure you were lying. "Spill the tea."
You knew there was no running from this.
"So..you see.. I just recently had someone on my mind like..all the time."
The redhead snorted at this. "Now, be serious,"
"But I am! I feel like I am sick."
"[Name], by the way you didn't say who you have been thinking about.." Spade interjected, clearly curious.
"Yeah [Name], tell us!" Ace encouraged the idea.
"Ugh, give it a break you two. At least for a minute!" You snapped and rubbed your forehead slightly. You heard your friends snicker to each other quietly. You knew they didn't mean anything harmful but you were stressed and felt cornered to a wall.
"It's the guy who auditioned to the SDC. The blonde, you know who." You said very quietly and reluctantly.
"WHAT?!"
Once again, you felt people gaze at your table. Amazing. "Shut up you all!" you scolded them, not wanting others to hear such thing. My, in your imagination you could vividly see how all of the NRC is awaiting to hear the answer to the question; 'who does the [Name] thirst for?'
"Is it..Hunt-senpai?" Deuce hesitantly asked, as if he was scared that his assumption would turn out to be true.
"You mean Rook?! No, don't tell me you're after such weirdos, pff.." Your other friend sure was making the best he could do of this. So funny.
"No! it's not him, it's the other one!" You felt like you were talking to a wall.
"Don't tell me.."
"YOU MEAN SCHOENHEIT?!"
Godness. Today was truly a bad day.
"Hey, you three! Shut the hell up!" Someone yelled from a table that was close to yours.
"Be quiet you two. Others have been giving us looks the whole time since we walked in here.." you tried to hide your face in your arms.
"I am very sorry!" Deuce yelled back, bowing his head.
"Ugh.. what a pain." You gave them a glance only to put your arms around your face once again. You were tired and lost your appetite.
"It's Vil, isn't it?"
"Yes, Ace. It's him. Stop making a huge thing out of this."
"Okay, hahahah. So what now, you'll confess your big love to him?" Ace teased you with a stupid smirk. He took a bite of his food and watered it down with some soda. "Woa, I didn't expect this combo to turn out so good!"
"No, I won't be doing any confessing. I don't love him nor do I have a crush on him. I am very normal about it."
"We can see that clearly [Name]." Deuce dissed you with truth. Were you sure it was just fascination? Or maybe you were really crushing him not even knowing it? He was pretty, that's for sure. Many people probably liked him for that. You found his personality interesting. 'Oh, but so do everybody!', or maybe not. You sure didn't fall in love with someone who just apologized and started being better. What a change of character! A simple action like this wouldn't make you swoon. You had standards. However, whenever you though about his face, his fashion choice, his perfect smile and pretty lips, and oh.. those eyes, right.. his eyes were probably the best thing out of his whole face. It was them on which he put his make-up the most. Majestic, regal and dazzling amethyst. If only you could look into them for eternity, you wou-
"Heyy, Twisted Wonderland to [Name]! Were you just thinking about your fancy man, secret lover?" The redhead made an exaggerated smoch at you, comically pouting his lips.
"Stop it Ace." The dark haired boy tried to stop his friend's teasing but internally he also found it a little bit amusing.
"Why do you even like him? I mean he is a model and everything but he's so scary and strict.." The freshman tried to defend himself.
"You're not wrong on this one.."
"See! And you tell me to stop. I'm just spitting facts here. Someone as harsh as him doesn't fit [Name]." Ace stated believing he is right. You didn't feel like talking. You looked at the croissant and at the rest of the food. Since the sweet was packed, you could eat it later.
"Let's talk about something.. more nice, shall we?"
"…"
"…Fine."
The 3th of March, XXXXX
'Dear Father,
I am writing to you as to notify you that I have developed a relationship with someone who's very close to me. I know you would like to hear about this in person, so I will visit you this week.
sincerely yours, [Name]'
Oh, my little hatchling!"
As soon as you opened the door of The Headmage's office, you were greeted by Crowley. Sometimes you just wondered if he had another sense which made him aware you were near him.
"I couldn't be more content to see you." He said giving you a long hug as if he hadn't seen you a month at least.
"Ah.. y-yeah, I'm also happy to see you." You replied sincerely. The Headmage grunted and straightened up. Smoothed his clothes and shake off the imaginary dust from his pants.
"So, what brings you here, my dear? As much as I would love to justify your visit as sincere concern for your papa I am aware it is something else?" He began, giving you a knowing look.
As annoying and triggering Crowley was to others, he knew you inside out.
"…Right. As I have written in my letter, I have formed a relationship-" Your sentence was interrupted by a loud cry.
"O-oh..! Oh dear.. I am so happy for you!" He cried louder. "You have a new friend! A-ah, Godness, they grow up so fast.."
"No, It's not like-"
"Don't worry. You have my most approval." He said with solemnity after blowing his nose with his (probably) ancient, engraved and worth more than ordinary man's paycheck, handkerchief. "I was pleased with you joining Night Raven College as here you could broaden your possibilities. You're doing a great job. I'm glad you won't be lonely, my child. May solitary never reach you and your new relations bring you elation."
"Are you even listening to me?" You tried to explain that you didn't gain a 'friend' but a boyfriend. "It's not a friend. I have a b-o-y f-r-i-e-n-d." You spelled it to him.
"Ah, a boy friend? My dear, assuming your friend is from our magnificent and prestigious school, I am not surprised your friend is a male." He said, not even catching what you were implying.
"No-"
"Ah, how the time flies! My, I should go, I have a housewarden meeting in ten minutes.. My dear child, please excuse this poor man for I am ought to leave now. Farewell, youngling. May fortune fall upon you for the rest of the day." He pecked you forehead softly albeit quickly and walked out with his cape lastly leaving your sight. No matter how many times you saw it flutter and shine it would always leave you amazed.
"Ah."
You stood in his office for another minute which felt like an hour. What just had happened?
"I mean.. at least I tried. I told him everything and he seemed content. The rest is not my problem." You shrugged and eyed the whole room. After some time it started feeling like a home to you, even if it was just an office in the school. It may be pretty, but it's not as pretty as Headmage's residence, which was your home now. You walked to the desk and started to check out things on it.
A dirty mug with leftover lukewarm coffe? Check.
A bunch of documents halfway done and messily spread on the whole desk? Check.
A photo of you in frame? Check.
Everything seems normal.
You sat on the chair and eyed the room once again from the perspective of the Headmage. You crossed your legs. "Well, seems I am the Headmaster now."
You felt like you were missing something. Ah, yes.
You put one of your legs on the desk. Now, that's it. You picked up the mug. You took a sip of the coffe.
"HOLY-" You choked. You wanted to throw up.
"What the- ew.. why it's so disgusting.." You put the mug down. That won't do.
"I am the Headmage!" You put your hand in the air while making a pistol sign with your hand and blinking.
…
Silence.
You felt even more bored.
"Why do I feel like I will suffer from this meeting consequences?"
You leaned back on the chair while gazing into the ceiling of the office. There was a pretty chandelier. The light it's candles reflected in yours eyes making them have a little fire in them. You kept longing with a blurry look.
The 9th of April, XXXXX ' Today was my love's birthday. I should be the one who took him somewhere and set up a nice date. I didn't know Vil had other plans. He booked us a two day stay at some fancy hotel which name I don't even remember. I told him I should pay at least but looking back at that price for a two day stay.. uh, no thank you, at least for now. Vil didn't mind being the one who had to set up everything. I bought him something nice and made a small cake for him. He looked happy and enjoyed himself which made me happy as well. I thought he would complain about the cake since I was pretty sure he rejected everything that interferes with his diet. But how was I supposed to know that he actually had a sweet-tooth? I made the cake to his liking. He was curious about the ingredients but not in a 'I want to know what I am eating because I care about my diet' but as 'I want to know how you made it and how the process went'. I was glad that I could make him smile with something so little, but he was already content with just my presence. On our two day vacation (we visited the Fairest City). We mostly went shopping or visited some cafes. '
"Are you enjoying yourself?"
Precipitated from your thoughts you stared at Vil with slightly open mouth. "Huh?"
"I'm asking if you're having a good time, my love." After seeing your confused expression he smiled. Sometimes you were too cute for your own liking.
"Yes, I am. But I still think I should be the one spending on you today. It's your day after all…" You replied unsure.
A laugh has reached your ears.
…A laugh?
Vil was laughing softly. The more you stared at him the more you noticed a light forming near his head as if he was an angel sent down from heaven.
"[Name]," He started.
"I don't expect from you to spend money on me or I want you to do so. I would be just happy with you being here with me. And personally, I think my birthday is a good occasion for us to go out. It's my day, right? So let the birthday boy pamper you, will you?" He put his arm, which was before linked with yours, around your waist giving you a smug smile.
"..You're a lost cause, Villy."
Hearing this made him adjust your scarf. Carefully, he made it look once again as neat as it was before. "A lost cause, you say?" Adjusting your scarf made him close the small distance between you. You could feel his breath on your face. After he said that, he looked into your eyes deeply.
Goddamnit. Actors and their ways.
"Ah..Um.." Cat got your tongue for sure. But who wouldn't be speechless after having someone so pretty almost at their face? "It's surprising it's coming from someone who didn't notice their scarf is untangling." He teased you, noticing your slight blush from the closeness.
God. You seriously are too cute for your own good.
"How was I supposed to know it was untangling?! I cannot look at you and my scarf at the same time!" The girl was lightly fumming.
"Oh my, excuse me then. Had I known you were admiring me I wouldn't interrupt your passionate entrance."
Vil started walking slowly waiting for you to catch up. You were staying in the same place flabbergasted.
"Darling, I'm waiting." He turned his head, slowing his walk even more.
Like in a slowmotion you saw how his hair moved and how his corners were lifted up. You blinked and pulled yourself together.
"Hey, wait for me!"
"As if I could leave without you." He said quietly which made it barely reach your ears. "Hm, if my fans heard someone has kept me waiting they sure would be devastated." He sent a glance your way.
"Maybe if you didn't rill me up, I wouldn't be taking my time."
"My apologies then."
Both of you started walking at unknown to you direction. The whole city and it's street's were leaking with luxury. It just felt like Hollywood but a Twisted Wonderland version of it? Nevertheless, it looked beautiful. People who you were crossing paths with here were dressed elegantly, clearly wearing the newest collection of some popular clothing brand.
"We're going to the cafe, is there something you would like to order?" The blonde asked you keeping his eyes on the footpath since it was crowded and easy to get lost in.
"Something to drink and a small dessert I think?"
"Good choice. I was also thinking about getting something to drink."
"How much left before we reach the cafe?" You inquiried getting tired from walking all the time.
"We're here actually." He stopped walking and turned to some large local. You also turned yourself to see it.
At this point you should be used to seeing fancy things in this city but still the appearance of the cafe made you skip a breath.
I feel my wallet wailing.
"It looks very.. luxurious." Perhaps your awe was visible to your partner or maybe it was him having some mystical inner connection with you since he only replied with;
"I want you to enjoy yourself to the fullest."
He gave your hand a squezze and opened the door for you. After you two walked in you were greeted by a waiter.
"Mister Schoenheit, welcome, your reservation is at the table 19th on the second floor." The waiter handled the documents and showed you the direction to your table.
"Thank you." Vil took your hand and leaded you to yours table. The inside of the cafe was kept in gold and red colors. There was soft jazz music, you didn't knew if it was live or not. It wasn't crowded but there were quite a lot of people.
I mean, it's a expensive cafe. I would be freaked out if it was fully crowded. The most cheap thing here probably costs more than hundred thaumarks.
Next, you climbed the stairs which were quite winding and colored black. So polished that you could check yourself out in them. Finally both of you could sit. The menu was already there.
"So, Darling, does anything piques your fancy?"
"That milkshake looks delicious.. it's kind of large though.."
"Don't worry about it. How about the dessert?" The man scanned over the menu. Quite a lot to pick from, huh? He tried to find something that looked healthy but still could be a dessert.
"I think I'll go for the Lava Cake. I think I had it in the past. Maybe I even made one, I can't remember." You said and put the menu down.
"Okay, I have everything. Are you finished yet?"
"Hmm.. Yes, I decided. Oh, the waiter is coming. Perfect timing."
"Not really, it was you who took so long to decide. The waiter waits ten minutes I think." The girl joked at her boyfriend. The man in return rolled his eyes and made a soft frown.
"Dear costumers, what would you like to order?" You looked at the waiter. Hell, even the clothing of the staff here is fancy.
"We would like to order one Lava Cake, one Apple pie and the large milkshake." Vil politely announced with a small smile.
"Is there anything you also would like to order"?
"No, thank you."
"Well then, your order will be ready in 15 minutes, please enjoy yourselves." The waiter gave a polite bow and was ready to leave but Vil stopped him. "Ah, excuse me, but," he made some motion which looked like a secret code. What the hell he is doing? you thought.
"Add to the order, if that's not a problem."
The waiter just like someone who has been working here for their whole life, understood quickly.
"Of course, it won't be a problem. Please excuse me." The waiter once again bowed and left.
"What the hell was that?" You laughed in modest volume. You never saw Vil do anything like that. What was that, his try of acting as a secret agent?
"Hm? Ah, that. Nothing. Just a normal thing here when ordering something. I just forgot to add something to our order."
"You? Forgot something? Please.."
The man looked uncomfortable and quickly changed the topic.
"How is your.. pet doing?"
"Pet? You mean Grim?" You wanted to be assured.
"Yes, Grim. With who you left him? I doubt you left him alone without anybody to look after him." The man asked further, curious where was your 'baby', as you called it.
"Pa- The Headmage is looking after him. I told him to be gentle with him. He's not great with cats or animals in general… I remember he once told me Professor's Trein cat didn't like him. When I asked why does he think so, he told me it hisses everytime it sees him. I'm not surprised, since he always picked up cats by their tails, good God.." You rambled, getting only a bit concerned about Grim. You knew Crowley wouldn't hurt since you would be very upset if something ever happened to him.
"I feel pity for this poor creature."
"You mean Grim or Crowley?"
He blinked two times rapidly and exchanged looks with you.
"Actually, make it both."
You chuckled at this. Vil didn't find it as amusing as you did which he made clear with his look with hooded eyes. "I am being serious here. Both of them are a danger and disaster to society. What good would come from both of them interacting?"
"Vil, please, don't worry. They'll be okay." You put your hand on his, softly massaging it. "I assure you."
"I'll put my trust in them, but only because you trust them and I trust you heartily."
"Thank you for putting your trust in your adopted son." You giggled after seeing his expression turn into annoyance with a frown. "Please. Don't be ridiculous." He rolled his eyes and.. was it blush on his cheeks? A faint one but still a blush.
A pleasant silence filled the room. You looked out of the window and gaped at the scenery. The Fairest City was really a beautfiul place with it's own charm. From the second floor you had a nice view at the pedestrians who looked like ants, moving fast and knowing exactly what they want to do. You switched your view at Vil, who was already looking at you.
"Have you ever eaten here?" You asked.
"I have. I once had a photoshot near this local. It was quite a long time ago. I also went here with my father." He answered truthfully. "Now that sounds interesting! I never actually heard about your father beside that he's an actor and producer, you know." You gave him a smug smile and snapped his hand with both of your fingers. "So? Tell me something interesting, Villy."
The man closed his eyes for a while as if he was regaining his composure. Maybe the topic of his father irked him a bit? "My, are you perhaps a fan of his?" He shot you a glance. "I saw some of his photos on the internet. And I saw his photo in your wallet and on your nightstand." The girl reciprocated his gaze.
"..Yes, right."
"Man, I don't know what the Schoenheit genes are made of, but y'all look fine as hell." This simple sentence made him furrow his brows.
"Now, stop right there!"
You grunted with your hand covering your mouth. "Yes, Sir." You totally weren't sorry at all.
The blonde softly pouted. Sometimes you were surprised with how expressive he was when he was with you.
"Don't gush about my father, you're here with me, not him. It's rude to not pay attention to your date, you know?" At the end of the sentence, he gave you his special smudge face look. The one where he slightly furrows his brows and up lifts the corners of his mouth while striking a pose.
"But of course, my queen.. by the way, are you jealous?" Like a sparrow knowing his place in the persence of the maginificent peacock, you put on a fake, pathetic servant mask. But you couldn't help yourself and asked him the last thing, totally not to rise his pressure. Yeah.
"Please." Vil scowled. His face showed irk and annoyance.
"Okay, I get it, worry not, I only have my amazing, talented, beautiful partner on my mind." You put your hands in the air as to show you're innocent and sincere now.
"Heh. As if it could be another way."
"Here's your order." The waiter put your dishes on the table. "The bill will be ready at the reception. Please enjoy your meal."
Vil only nodded. You started to think that maybe he knew this waiter. You looked at your food.
"Uh.."
What the hell?
"Vil, I think they messed up our order. They forgot to bring your drink." You said uncertain.
"No, it is as it should be. I didn't order any liquids."
"But didn't you say you wanted to drink something though?"
"Dear, worry not about me. Now, enjoy yourself."
You shrugged. If he's not thirsty, there's no problem then. You wanted to take a sip out of your milkshake and then you noticed something. "Huh?"
"Why they gave me one straw for two people?"
"What do you mean, 'one straw for two people'?" Vil asked faking confusion. You knew it was fake. He looked too calm.
"You know what I mean. That one straw for people so they can drink at the same time, you know.. I just don't know how it's called."
"My, that's perfect." He said with a hidden enthusiasm. "Didn't you say that milkshake was too large for you? Cease your concerns, I will lend you a hand, my love." after he said it, he brought himself closer to the table. He squinted his eyes at you, which could be a flirtatious attempt as to make himself look more eligible, like he was preening himself to you. But no. It won't work on you. You knew something was wrong.
He took a sip of the creamy drink.
"You have an exquisite taste, dear."
You stared blankly. "I see."
"You should try it. Or are you going for the Lava Cake first?" The blonde without a care in the world (It seemed) was drinking YOUR milkshake.
"How about I try your Apple Pie? I'm curious how it does taste like." You said with a different motive in your mind than just trying his dessert. He thinks he's smug? Well, hell no, not today.
"Hm? Sure, feel free to try it."
You took the plate with the dessert. You took his spoon. You digged in.
The first bite felt like Heaven…
You should have expected that a cake from probably the most expecnsive cafe in the most rich city in the most known for it's value country would taste good.
Yet…
"Why it's so good.." you mumbled after you swallowed down. The appearance of the cake also was prepossessing. It also smelled nice.
"I see you're enjoying my meal, I'm flattered." Vil chuckled softly.
"Look who's talking" You murmured under your nose. You wanted to take another bite but you were interrupted by Vil placing his hand on your cheek, lifting it gently so you could look into his eyes.
"[Name]. I am happy to see you enjoy yourself. I'm glad you spent my birthday with me. I couldn't ask for a better gift." He said with a gentle expression. This was probably the most soft you have seen him today. His eyes shined in the light of the chandelier. You didn't know what to say. "I… how could I not spent your birthday with you?" You squeezed out, unsure if that's what you should say right now.
"Well, you could have said you're busy or that you just don't want to. I would've understood."
"But wouldn't you be upset?
"I would be. I would be unhappy and miserable, really. But I don't know if I could be really mad at you." Vil chuckled weary.
"I love you." You blurted out out of nowhere.
Vil's orbits dilated a little bit but soon after they returned to their natural state. He left a amused sigh and the corners of his lips lifted instantly.
"I love you too, sweet potato."
He retreated his hand and took your spoon. He digged in the apple pie and brought the spoon to your lips.
"Here you go." He nonverbally encouraged you to open your mouth and take in the spoon.
"I didn't expect you to be into something like this, how…extraordinarily." You opened your mouth and tasted the cake.
"Hm. A occasion like this happens only once in a lifetime, dear."
…The second took you there.
"So, Dear, how about we drink together the milkshake now-"
You kicked him lightly under the table.
"Today was fantastic."
You two walked slowly on the suburbs of the city near some park. It was almost dark by now. You were glad that since the city was famuous, the supervisors made sure that every lamp on the street was working properly. It may be just April, but the weather was still unstable and the day was still not as long as in the summer days.
You and Vil held each other's hand, the other had a glove. You thought Vil would be that type of person who would have had cold hands, but surprisingly, his hands were warm. Probably because he was working out everyday which made him have a proper blood circulation.
"I agree. I have enjoyed myself to the fullest." The model replied, a smile present on his face. "I must confess that I have relaxed today like never."
You headed in the direction of your hotel. It was too late to go somewhere else and you were too tired for anything new today.
"You know, I didn't expect you to be.. engaged when I mentioned your father."
A sigh escaped Vil's lips.
"I just don't want you to talk about others with such interest when you should be focused on me" He said.
"Right. Sorry. I should pay more attention to the birthday boy." You squezzed his hand.
"But it's good you asked about my father. I actually wanted you to meet him. He was curious about you, too. Maybe too curious for my liking, but I still would like you two to at least see each other."
"Really?!"
"Yes." He chuckled. "I know my father will pull something for sure, but I can't leave him in the shadows for too long. Especially that he doesn't have a lot of time."
"Oh, I see…"
"Don't worry, you'll soon meet him. Maybe sooner than you expect." You said nothing at it. You two walked in silenece to your hotel. Sooner than I expect?
You felt a chill run your body.
The 26th of April, XXXXX ' Today is the day me and Vil visited the Fairest City along Jamil, Ace and Azul. He said there was some production of some film. I wasn't really interested in the details. Vil showed me the photo of the garments he will be wearing today for the whole event. I knew he would nail the look. I didn't expect though that I would meet someone new. '
"Can you be any slower, you all?"
You felt bad for them. Carrying Vil's shopping bags was not a mere task.
You thought you saw one bag almost slip out of Ace's arms but in the last moment he corrected himself. It didn't go unnoticed by Vil, of course.
"Spudling number one, what do you think you're doing?" The blonde's stern voice made Ace wince. "Sorry!" He threw quickly.
You really couldn't admire Vil from far away, because he kept you near him all the time, arms linked or at least in two step distance.
"Hey, [Name]. Maybe you would like to help us out? Jamil asked while sweating a few droplets. When you were about to answer something, your boyfriend beat you out of it.
"Oh? You dare to ask [Name] for help? How bold of you. Did all of you forgot about our contract?"
The model gave them a cold look. With his new make-up, different hairstyle and luxurious clothing he looked more demanding and scary than before.
"My dear, I'm going to the cosmetics store now. Would you like to go with me? There's some products I wanted to get you." Vil turned himself to your direction, dropping his scary and cold demeanor.
The man gently put his hand out for you to take. You took it and he walked with you to the store. Before you two disappeared inside the store, he turned to the three boys.
"I expect all of you not to do anything foolish. Also, make sure to not drop anything." He seized all of them with his eyes.
The store looked like something out of vintage aesthetic. Most of the furniture was in brown tone, made probably from the most expensive and real wood of highest quality. The cashier was absent.
Vil approached some shelf and took some products. "Look, I was talking about those."
He picked a few and went to the other shelf. "They have unique products. I really wanted to check out those rice balms."
The cashier finally came back from the back room.
"Welcome, how can I help you?"
Vil eagerly went to the counter. "We'll be having those products. I waited so long for their release."
The cashier behind the counter laughed. "Ah, yes, they sell very well." Vil paid for the articles and you left the shop. From the distance you could hear a street musician playing on a instrument. Your boyfriend noticed you gaze at the crowd from where the music was coming from. "We can go there later, if you want." He sent a small smile your way. You smiled back. He turned to the three boys. "You three." He pointed a finger at them. "Quit your idling. We have four shops left to visit."
All of them shuddered.
Vil started walking. His polished shoes clicking against the surface. He really nailed the outfit which his strong personality only completed.
Ace, Azul and Jamil only sighed desperately. Soon after, all of them started walking. You quickly walked up to Vil, who took your hand and matched your peace.
With every shop you visited you saw how they started to enjoy dragging his bags, pushing each other lightly or just copying Vil's way of walking for fun. You noticed that once in a while Vil indulged them a little and also copied their way of walking, smiling slightly.
You liked how all of them looked happy, trotting to the next destination.
You once again glanced at the blonde, noticing how his face shined in the sunglow, basked in bliss.
"Desserts?!"
After visiting all the shops, you stopped at some bakery. You heard the boys yell, surprised that Vil would actually let them eat something… unhealthy near him. And at his own cost.
"Why, I thought you all would be delighted to try something sweet. Fairest City is known for having the best bakeries or cafes. I myself am interested what they are serving today."
You were astonished too. You knew he wasn't someone cruel who wouldn't eat someone sweets at least once in their life, but most of cakes or desserts in bakeries are full of unnecessary sugar.
"Then I want something with cherry filling!" Ace said with enthusiasm.
"I want to try something I haven't had before." Jamil replied while looking at the bakery's display. "How about you, Azul?"
"I don't consume anything too fat or too sweet." He said, spreading his arms. "But, since this is once in a lifetime occasion, I will indulge myself a little. After all, mister Schoenheit is generously paying for our orders, wasting a occasion like this would be such a loss." A smug expression made it to Azul's face.
"Now, don't let it go to your head." Vil said with slight frown, but actually not minding Azul's remark. "My, their selection of options is quite big. I'm hesitant to pick anything." His eyes flickered on things.
"Ugh, they have so much sugar. Is there anything a little bit healthier?" he squinted his eyes with down turned corners.
"Vil, there's some apple with caramel, how about this?" Ace suggested. The sweetness looked like an apple candy covered in caramel. It reminded you a little bit of a halloween treat.
"It looks utmost. Thank you kindly." He smiled, content with the thing. "And what about you, my dear? Does anything pick your fancy?" Your lover turned to face you, giving you a pleased look.
"I'm not sure."
"Oh, I didn't tell you, but this bakery connected to the cafe we have been at on my birthday. It's the same company." He said in a quiet tone so only you could hear him.
"You mean THAT cafe? The one with the milkshake?" You wanted to be assured.
"Now, now, please, let's keep our voices down. Yes, it's that cafe." His expression switched to something that resembled amusement. To see you so ruffled about such a small thing was quite a view to him.
Oh, yeah, so funny when you were the one who drinked all of my milkshake.
"Would you like perhaps the same thing as me?" He said gently taking your hand in his and softly massaging the surface of it with his thumb.
"Fine. But I would prefer to save it for later, so tell them to pack it as a takeaway."
"As you wish."
He went into the bakery to get your orders. The rest looked at you quizzically. You could see suspicion on their faces. "What?"
"What you two just were whispering about?" Ace squinted his eyes at you, like you have committed some crime.
"My, talk about playing favorites." Azul adjusted his glasses.
"Yeah. Stop complaining and go drag the bags." You dismissed them with a hand wave. Ace sent a smirk your way.
"Yes, our Lady."
Vil returned from the bakery. He held a stack of boxes and had a paper bag hanged on his arm. "Come on, take your orders. I won't be carrying all of this."
"But were already carrying tons of your bags!"
"Don't make me repeat myself." Vil furrowed his brows, making the rest sigh.
You walked up to get your bag with the apple candy. When Vil saw your stretched hand towards the bag, he retreated it. "Ah, I didn't mean you. I'll carry yours." He still had his hand with the bag retreated. You gave him a distrustful look.
"Hurry up, spudlings. We don't have the whole day. We have little time left before we meet the producent."
The three lighted up at this. "We'll be meeting the producent?!"
"Of course. He wants to meet all of you." He smiled pridefully. "You especially, [Name]." Huh?
Vil didn't say anything after that.
"Let's go, shall we?"
The place where you were supposed to meet the star of the whole stay, day and night. Were you stressed? It was hard to say.
The inside looked like most of the Fairest City buildings. It soaked with luxury. The restaurant (you weren't sure if it was one, but it had a bar and tables, so it probably was one) had a nice, chill music playing in the background. If you had to compare it to something you would say it sounded like french music, played in most of cheesy movies.
The palette of red and gold combined perfectly. You saw some people sit at the tables for two, talking with each other in hushed tones. They all looked like celebrities.
"Which table is ours?" You heard Ace ask.
"We'll be sitting at one of the couches, we'll wont fit at a normal table." Vil said, approaching one of the couches which had a table big enough for you all.
You all sat down finally getting some rest after walking all day. Before you met Vil you thought shopping was a hassle but it could be done. However after you two became a thing you just think how stupid and clueless you were before. Shopping with Vil is only nice if you have patience and you aren't carrying his bags.
"It was a rough day." You said to your peers.
"Yeah, it was. I feel like my back is ripping from all that shopping." Ace said and massaged his back with a slight painful frown. "I never knew Vil was this demanding… I mean, I knew but come on." He complained. You didn't deny what he said. "I feel kinda bad for you. How do you put up with this dude?" He gave you a look, somehow uncertain and worried for you future.
"He's not that bad." You said, slipping off a little bit from you sitting position. You looked out of place right now but you prefered to sit comfortably at least. "I get how it looks to others, but sometimes you need to make some.. sacrifices for love, you know." You winked at him at the end of your sentence. You pulled quite a inner poet of yourself.
"Now, don't tell me this bullshit." He laughed, hitting your side lightly with his elbow. "If you say so, I won't intervene. But if something happens, send me a SOS, okay?" You could feel care from your friend. Ace maybe didn't look or behave like a guy who would pull a prince act, but if you would ever need help - he would be there. He may be frolicsome, but he has his heart in the right place.
"You bet." you smiled at him.
You saw how Jamil and Azul talked about something. You didn't hear what it was about because they had their tones down. Vil was checking his phone and typing some message.
Where's that special guy? That 'producent'?
You lost yourself in thoughts. Once again, [Name] entered her world. All this socialisation doesn't do anything good for a man, huh?
"Hey, I waited for you all."
You felt a chill run down on your spine. You froze. No, it can't be. Your fingers digged in the soft couch. The voiced came from behind you. Just like the person who came to your table was perfectly standing behind the place of the couch where you sat down.
You didn't turn back.
If I do it,
I will die.
You heard some 'Huh' from your mates. All of them in awe, from what you could hear.
"Vil, it's been a long time since I saw you!" The mysterious figure said. You had your eyes glued to one spot, not really on the floor but not entirely on the table - something in between. You weren't sure if you were even blinking at this point.
"Indeed. I am surprised you had time for us. I thought you would be busy with meeting important figures." Vil said.
"Please, how could I not see all of you? I was very curious to meet you." The man (from the voice you suspected it was a man) said to everyone.
Dread. You felt yourself going numb.
The fancy french-like music was still going on. Long enough for you to gasp the entire rhythm of it. In your wicked mind, you hummed it's tune.
You hear Vil moving. He was walking up to the man. His shoes cliking against the floor. Such a nice sound.
From what you could listen, sounds of light and quick pecking reached your ears. So they're exchanging greetings now, huh? Your friends got up one by one to greet in person the guest (host would be more accurate, since it was him who wanted to meet you). Ace shaked hands with him with a friendly demanor, Jamil shaked hands with him with the elegance you would expect from someone who knows who it's better to side with and Azul shaked hands with him like someone who wanted to present themselves in a good light and give them a business card. You knew you should turn back. At least for good manners.
I can do it.
It wasn't your fault to be so scared of meeting,
You slowly turned yourself back when you heard the man express an interest in you, the only person he didn't had the chance of exchanging pleasantries with.
You saw him.
He had a nice smile on his lips. 'Pretty' you thought. His clothing was fitting him nicely. The color of his eyes..
You were fully facing him, still sitting on the couch. You wanted to close your open mouth but you couldn't bring yourself to do it.
From others perspective it must have looked funny. You, gaping at the man and the man looking at you with singularity and curiosity.
"Oh, hello. I believe we haven't met before?"
…Your future father-in-law.
Am I still alive?
You stared at the man.
Oh, right, I should get up and shake hands with him or something. It'll be worse if I don't do it.
You get up and walked up to him. You wanted to believe your entire 'walk' at least could resemble some basic elegeance and not wobbling.
When you were close enough to the man, you stretched your hand to greet him.
Smile, [Name]! Show him you're a great material for Vil! A total ten out of ten!
You tried to smile as pretty as you could pull. A ugly and twisted grimace showed on your face. You had your corners turned up, so in your opinion it was a smile (and others should also take it as one).
"Um.. Hello to you too." An awkward greeting sounded out of you. You were sure you were shaking a bit.
Instead of shaking hands with you, the man gently took your hand and brought it to his lips.
…What?
The man, while not breaking the eye contact with you, gave your hand a light kiss.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, [Name]. I have heard a lot about you." He dazzled you with his smile. He also gave Vil a look when he finished. "Father!" You heard Vil raise his voice.
Or maybe you wanted to hear it.
Neverthless, you were too gone. Too gone from this world, too gone to hear anything.
Maybe you were in something akin to a space right now, where planets slowly moved, star shined and a shooting star blinked far away.
I was wrong. I can't do it.
You were glad your boyfriend was here. So if you would, for an example, pass away he would be here with you at your last moments.
After hearing his son's raised voice, the man slowly let go of your hand. It was amusing to see his son be so pressed. He knew he would enjoy this event, but now? Oh, an occasion where he could ruffle his son's feathers was almost impossible to come by.
You stood there and just watched how these two had an invisible fire ignited between them.
How embarrassing…
Your friends were both shocked at what Vil said. "Father?" Azul repeated flabbergasted.
"Ah, yes. The producent I was talking about is Eric Venue, who is also my father."
"REALLY? AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US?" Ace shouted still in shock. Azul put his hand on his arm and said:
"My, his father is the most popular actor and producer. He's basically a big-shot in Twisted Wonderland."
"Holy.." The redhead looked at the man. He still had his handsome, million dollar smile on. Just now he noticed how similar he and his son were.
"But his last name is Venue, why is that?" Jamil inquired.
"I didn't want people to recognize me as 'the son' or just by the last name. The 'Venue' is only a stage name." Vil answered the question which seemed to puzzle the whole group.
"Indeed. I wanted Vil to gain his recognization by his hard work, not the name he bears." His face settled down a little.
"Right now I can say openly, without people doubting my worth, that we're related." The younger Schoenheit announced with delight.
You felt like everyone has forgetten about you. A part of you was glad, however you felt awkward. You could say something but it would probably only worsen your situation.
"How about we all sit down? The starters will be served soon."
'Great idea!' You thought.
"Ah, we'll be starting with starters? Nice!" Ace said with enthusiasm. You envied him how he could stay calm in a situation like this. You all sat down on the same couch you sat before. You saw how some chatted and some just sat down in silence. This time your boyfriend sat beside you.
"Is everything okay?" You heard him ask. You turned your head to look at him. You saw slight frown and concern on his face.
"Yes, I'm fine. I'm just… feeling a little bit out of the place. I'll get over it." You assured him, which didn't feel assuring at all.
You were right. He didn't look convinced at all. Your reply only made him worry more.
Just like always, he took your hand in his and gave you a light squezze. He always did it whenever you were anxious or just felt upset. You sent him a smile.
Your moment of peace didn't last long.
Just like a hound which was trained for hunting, Eric saw you two 'coddling to each other' as he would say. The hound sniffed out his quarry from the long distance.
"You two are quite close, aren't you? I'm glad Vil has such a good friend to lean on." He smiled in a way that screamed 'I know what you are'.
'Does he know?' you thought.
No, I doubt.
You were pretty sure Vil didn't tell his father that he had someone. He didn't had time to inform him, you two started dating in like February or something. He and his father met once in half a year or in a few months. There's no way.
You moved away from Vil. Your sudden movement only made the suspicion rise. From the corner of your eye you saw how your boyfriend's jaw clenched.
"I thought you would prefer to talk about the movie but I see you would rather go into private matters it seems." Vil narrowed his eyes at his father. You were pretty sure he was about to throw hands.
"No, don't take it that way. Put yourself in my shoes, how could I just pretend I don't have such a prosperous relationship before my eyes? I'm happy you have such reliable friends."
'I would never wear those' flew through your head. Maybe Vil would. Vil was seething at this point.
"I must tell everyone, you all have a really good fashion style." Eric complemented as if he wanted to avoid his son's wrath and ease the tension. He will strike once everything's will subside. "Thank you!" Ace happily thanked. His cheeks reddened a little bit and his face lightened up.
"I'm glad to hear this, however it was your son who picked all those outfits." Jamil said. "It's only thanks to your son that we could make it out in such style." To others who didn't knew Jamil personally it could sound like he was putting himself down and direct all the praise to Vil. But in reality you knew he also wanted to push Vil's buttons and have some fun.
"You know, I really like fashion myself." He laughed neatly with his hand near his mouth as to give himself grace. You could see the little shinning sparks fit his aura. Truly, everyone could agree this man was fine as hell.
"That's splendid. But to like something it means to know how to fix it. In this case it means to know how to wash it. You don't know how to do it."
You and almost everyone at the table were surprised to hear Vil's side mark. You knew he was petty, but would he go this far?
"Ah.." Eric seemed perplexed. Deep down he didn't mind his son's jab, however… "I try my best when I'm doing the chores."
Vil face changed to disappointment at this. "Right. You always need help of the housekeepers."
Everyone at that stiffed clearly. You and your classmates didn't know what to do. You felt like you were in a conflict which didn't include you.
"That was quite harsh…" Jamil commented in a hushed tone. You all looked at each other, sweat forming on yours foreheads.
"Oh, they are about to bring the starters! Incredible timing." Eric said, happy that he no more has to be in his son's quarrel.
On the table were placed starters, all of them looked delicious. Maybe too small for you, but it's proably the restaurant rules.
Time to dig in.
A reflection was shown on the knife.
The light shined on it which caused the reflection to appear. You held your fork in the other hand thightly.
You looked at your meal. You took a deep breath.
You looked to your left.
You saw your friends eating in comfortable silence. You noticed how Ace struggled with handling the utensils and how Jamil instructed him as not to embarrass himself. You hear him say if his housewarden had seen his table manners, he would have cut his head off.
You looked to your right.
Vil was handling his utensils with elegance. He even ate in a proper and neat way. He didn't smudge his lipstick nor did he dirty his clothes.
The music is playing in the background.
Once again you look at your food.
You raise the knife. The fork already stabed the meat. Just like a surgeon cutting the body, you cut the meat. A slick, straight and deep line.
You were glad Vil learnt you a little bit of the basic (for Pomefiore) table manners. Everytime you ate with him you watched how he raised his utnesils and how he wiped his mouth with a handkerchief after the meal.
You brought the food to your mouth.
A subtle flavor could be tasted on your tongue. You could say it was too unseasoned for you.
The comfortable atmosphere was interrupted by Eric.
"What a lovely time we have. But I wanted to ask you something." He adressed it to you and your friends. "What is Vil like at school?" A simple question. However you saw how Ace choked on his food, how Jamil stared at him and how Azul stiffened.
"Ah.."
"Well.."
"Uh…"
You also didn't know how to respond to this question. "Um.. Vil is quite an admirable figure." Jamil started sweating a little bit. "He's also very.. precise." You noticed that the rest only readily nodded their heads in agreement.
"I'm glad to hear this." He gave them a content smile. Then his expression changed into something else, like he had remembered soemthing just now. "Oh [Name], I would like to hear your opinion!" The girl stared at him with wide eyes then turned to her boyfriend. Vil only sent her a smirk. "I also would like to hear it."
Maybe this is the time you start praying.
"So…" You started hesitantly. "I also think he's an admirable figure. He knows his way and he moves very elegantly..um," what were you even talking about?
"Please continue." Eric encouraged you.
You closed your eyes as to calm your self and continued. "He cares for students in Pomefiore. He's strict and only sometimes annoying."
You smiled awkwardly. "I mean, it's a different experience for everyone. It depends if you're close with him or not." You were sincere. It would be stupid to expect someone to treat dear people to them the same way the treat strangers. "As for me, I don't have any complaints. Some people might have though." As you finished an image of Epel showed in your mind. You laughed to yourself in your mind.
"That's a very interesting way to put it in." Eric said after you finished. "And I was worried that he had problems at school." He chuckled. "Guess I worried over nothing."
"Please. Let's not be ridiculous." The blonde also laughed. "Even in elementary school I never was bothered." "You went to elementary school?"
"Of course. I remember I had joined a theatre group at that time." Vil finished with pleased expression. "And what is up with that shock?" His face turned into annoyance.
"Ah, how the time flies! I believe they will be serving dinner soon." Your in-law annouced. "The food here is great. It could be used as a buffet. In acting, actors often are offered pancakes, sweets, salads, meat and others type of meals."
"It sounds delicious." Azul commented while shifting his position. The starters weren't very fullfilling, so most of were still hungry. After some time, dinner was brought on the table.
A large pot was set on the table. "The goulash is inspired by the fairest queen tale."
You spent quite a lot of time in Twisted Wonderland. You found it interesting how many dishes are inspired by the great seven. The goulash looked just like the rest of the food served today - very delicious and worth a fortune.
The portions on your plates were small. You doubted someone could fill their hunger with it but you got it was a restaurant. Even in your world some served portions like this. How absurd.
You had a great time with everyone eating the dinner. The atmosphere wasn't that stiff and uncomfortable.
'It's not that bad' You thought.
When you all finished you started conversing and chatting. You saw how happy your friends were and how Vil was in a good mood too. Just when you wanted to ask something Vil's dad slapped his thighs and stood up.
"I'm glad that we all could meet up today. I'm pleased I could get to know you." He spoke to you and your classmates. "Sadly I have a meeting with other producer's now and won't be able to stay. I'll join you after the meeting is finished. Please excuse me." He smiled politely. When he was about to go, he turned back and walked up to you. "Ah, [Name], can I ask you for a moment? It will be short, worry not." He looked at you from the above giving you his million dollar (thaumark?) smile.
You froze. What?
"Um.. sure," you rose from your seat and walked up to him. He guided you to a more secluded place. When he was sure you two were alone, he spoke.
"Ah, don't be nervous. I just wanted to ask you something." Once again his expression turned into delight. He felt bad for making you stress over this.
"You see, I know you and Vil aren't just friends. Vil never told me it in person or verbally. I just guessed on my own." He crossed his arms and seized you.
"Oh," In a moment like this you could only make a short sound. "I guessed it when he called me one day. He was very happy when he was talking. I thought something good had happened. He didn't want to tell me what it was, but considering that since one day you were the only thing he was informing me about I guessed you two started dating." He looked in your eyes and his face became serious. "I see how he looks at you. I never saw him this happy."
"Um, sir…"
"You two have my blessing." He smiled and put his hand on your shoulder. "Others may not be able to notice it, however as his father I don't need a confirmation. Vil can say what he wants, but he won't deceive me."
You didn't know how to react. Too much information for you for such a period of time. You still didn't knew why he wanted to talk to you in person.
"Ah, but it's not about it. I wanted to ask you if you would accept an invite to a dinner. I would love to know closer my daughter-in-law." He sent you a noble and kind-hearted smile.
"Oh.. of course, I accept." You were shocked. Daughter-in-law? Did he just see you as family at this point? Even if you and Vil weren't engaged or something? You were like at the first base, almost reaching the second.
"I also heard you have a guardian who's your father, right?" He asked hesitantly as to not cross the line of making you uncomfortable. When you shocked your head as 'yes', he continued:
"Splendid! I would love to meet him as well." He seemed to be too happy about this. "Feel free to bring your furry friend too." Something akin to a wink was sent your way. Holy, was he trying to kill you? It's not like you were attracted to Vil's dad, but it also wasn't like you weren't attracted to him. It is not my fault - that was what you would say to enraged and rabid Vil.
"Oh, thank you!" You were happy that he knew about Grim and wanted to include him as well. Your furry friend was as important to you as Vil was.
"Well then, I'll await our dinner patiently." And with that, he gave you a slight bow and left.
…
What has just happened?
After the talk with the Eric you came back to your table. Everyone asked where you were but you just swept it away with a visit to the toilet. The only one who wasn't convinced was your boyfriend, Vil.
"Where were you?"
You didn't want to lie to him so you said the truth.
"He knows." You eyed him with solemn face as if you had just witnessed a murder scene. "He knows. Your father. He knows, Vil."
"My, how perceptive of him." He narrowed his eyes. His make-up didn't help and only made his gaze more serious and gravely. "So what now?" He changed his expression to something more soft as not to seem like he was directing his negative emotions at you. "He said he wanted to ask me to a dinner, Vil."
He tsked and his scowl only worsened. "What a-"
"I agreed Vil." You said still with the same wasted tone as before. "And he wants to meet the headmage as well. And Grim."
Your boyfriend turend to a new shade of red. You saw a vein form on his forehead. Maybe you should've unaccepted?
"Don't worry, dear." He unexpectedly put his hand on yours. "We're together in this. I'll be with you." You weren't sure if this situation was this serious but you appreciated the effort.
"Thank you.." You said not sure what to say. A furious Vil was a dangerous one. You didn't want to piss him off more than his dad did. "I don't understand why he is interfering in my relationship." He sighed while closing his eyes.
"Well… maybe he just misses you? And he's interested in how is your life going, or something?" You tried to make the mood less uncomfortable.
Vil looked at you with a puzzled expression. "Darling, you don't understand. It won't be a normal dinner. He's going to ask you many questions and the whole meeting will last til night. He will probably suggest staying at our home for the night." He was clearly upset. "I know you don't like when people press you or just ask you things you rather not talk about. I'm worried for you… I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable." He confessed closing the space between you.
His face now was very close to yours.
"I.. I understand. But I also want to know your father more personally. After all, he's your father and an important figure in your life. Knowing him is as important to me as knowing you, Vil." You said trying to fix his mood.
His eyes twinkled at this. If you were this interested in meeting his family then it meant you were thinking about your future together. The future which involved him.
"[Name]…" He whispered. You didn't have much time to react before you felt his lips on your cheek. A slight peck however it was filled with many emotions.
"My sweet potato, I understand." He was still close to you. His expression different now, eyes filled with comfort.
"A dinner it is."
The 15th of May, XXXXX
'Dear Father,
I am writing to you as to notify you about coming dinner with mr. Eric Schoenheit and his son, Vil Schoenheit. The date is 24th May, current year. Your presence is required and the host asks for confirmation of presence. (I will pass it to Vil and he will pass it to his father) Yours sincerely, [Name]
"My dear child."
A grave-like voice boomed through the room. This is not going in the right direction.
"What is the meaning of this?"
You stood as straight as a plank. A solider waiting for an order.
"I told you before, that I have formed a relationship. Vil is the one whom I bonded." Your answer was the last nail to your coffin.
Sometimes you wondered if your father was stupid or stupid. No, let's take it back. Was he playing a fool or was he just one? At this point you should run.
"And Sir Schoenheit has invited you and me to a dinner. Is that right?"
"Yes,"
"Oh my dear." He wraped his arms around you. "I'm so happy for you! You may be young and helpless, however you already lined up nicely…" He was at the edge of breaking down.
"Ah, such an inportant moment in the life of a parent.. I accept the offer. I'm impressed you found such a well positioned friend! You adopted all of my life tactics, o-oh…"
You didn't want to say anything. Your father still thought you and Vil were just friends. At this point, you didn't even care. You just wanted him to confirm whenever he will attend the dinner or not. You just were worried if he will pull a stunt. Please, no.
"And your letters improved too! But, what was the last note, huh? Do not break your character at the end, no matter if it's me or a stranger!" He scolded you. Ah, so dumbing down the last sentence was unnecessary.
"Right. I'm sorry."
"I hope a mistake like this won't happen again. The act of writting a letter is very important. I want you to master it for your own good." He said in a serious tone.
"Well then, hatchling. I'm looking forward to this meeting! Ah, I wonder how the Schoenheit maison looks like…"
Right. You were correct. Let's just hope he won't do anything.. embarrassing.
It will be fine, just like always.
"Vil, I'm not sure if it's a good idea."
You were laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. Your mind was clouded with doubt.
"[Name]." He sounded stern. He sat beside you on the bed. Vil gazed at you with tired eyes. It was past 6 p.m and the sky was turning fully dark. Your boyfriend normally was starting his routine at this time, however since you came to him looking very anxious, he put it aside. It can wait.
"Don't worry, it will be okay." he rubbed your shoulders. "I will be there with you. It's just a dinner."
"A dinner on which my father and yours will meet." You corrected him. The whole thing was taking a toll on you. You didn't want to be stressed however you couldn't suprass your mind.
Vil didn't say anything at that. He continued massaging you hoping it would help.
"Do you want a cup of tea?" Your boyfriend asked. He didn't like seeing you in a state of stress and anxiety. It caused him pain and the fact he couldn't help you only worsened everything.
He sighed and got up. Vil left the room without saying what was he doing. You stared at the ceiling following it's patterns. You liked how his room presented itself. Pretty and velvet purple with light white.
The dumbbells layed on the floor in tidy. You knew it wouldn't really bother Vil if you stayed here for a longer time, yet you knew you couldn't do that.
After 15 minutes which felt like an hour the bloned returned back. He held a tray with some snacks. "Maybe this will improve your mood?" You saw your favorite snack. You appreciated that even though it was late he still decided to eat something with you.
"Eat to your content, love." The girl saw him flash her a dazzling smile. You enjoyed how Vil no matter what could bring comfort to you. "I thought you didn't support eating this late." You joked taking one of the snacks.
"Don't let it go to your head, Darling. This is the last time I'm doing this." A smirk appeared on his face, joining you in this fool's parade.
"Okay, okay, I get it." You waved your hand as a sign you gave up.
The two of you spent the rest of day munching on the snacks while having the best mood ever. Maybe a little time together was all you two needed. At least it seemed so.
The 24th of May, XXXXX ' Today is the day. I have prepared myself. It will be okay. Despite mentioning Vil many times, I haven't actually told anything about him at all. I haven't even said why I make sure to say Vil is my partner rather than a boyfriend. Okay, so the thing is; Vil thinks that the title boyfriend is.. very degrading. It's not bad however it means the two of us are just a 'temporary' thing and it has some high shool after taste.. and partner sounds neutral yet loving. You can call someone who's been in a relationship with you for like twenty years or five months. I also prefer the term partner than boyfriend but I tend to forget myself. Actually, now that I think about this.. boyfriend sounds very cute. Ah, what else to say… I remember how I and Vil were like before we started dating. I seriously had some one sided beef with him. But it was hard to understand Vil and it was probably hard to understand me. Looking back, we made a lot of progress. Oh, also I find it quite cute how Vil lights up whenever I mention some new way of putting on make-up! Or when I mention theatre, ah, he looks just so- '
"[Name]? What are you doing?"
You jumped at the sound of Vil's voice. You hurriedly closed the journal hoping no one saw what's inside.
"It's nothing." You reply was too quick. It didn't escape your lover's attention.
"Huh? I am not the one to pry into private affairs," He gave you a interested look which quickly turned into his special smirk. "But I won't hide that I am curious what's inside. Did my presence cause the quick closing?" He teased you. Ah, if only he knew what you were writing about.
"When are we leaving?" You asked as to step away from the topic. You already packed your stuff for the two day stay.
"In an hour. I hope you're prepared for the fantastic day?" His manicured nails reflected some light which only made them more dazzling. He looked very dolled up, you weren't sure if it's for you or just for the occasion.
"Riiiight. I can't help myself. I'm gonna die from happiness." You jokingly said. Both you and Vil weren't prepared for this in reality.
"So funny." Vil said with an amused expression. "I thought you would be more excited. You're meeting your, as you once said, amazing and talented super-actor." You felt the jab stick in your chest. Indeed you said that, but no matter what you won't call Eric like that in person.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. You're my most precious, talented and amazing actor, model, icon and so go on." You put your hands in the air as a sign of defence. "You can stop your jealousy now."
You saw how his face twitched. "Me? Jealous? Over my father? I couldn't ever to that. I am secure in my relationship and my choices." Ah, the perfect defense of someone who obviously jealous. You decided to give it a stop as not to torture your boyfriend furthermore.
"Check if you packed everything 15 minutes before we leave. It may be just a two day stay but I won't let you neglect yourself." He scolded you giving you the harsh reality of most basic Vil-self.
"Yes, my queen." You saluted and left the room. You walked through the corridors searching for something. You looked left and right and no sight. Where did he go?
When you were losing hope for finding the lost 'person' you suddenly saw a flash of gray. Oh, you found him.
"Grim, behave." You told your companion stoping your walk. It wasn't like Grim was some slob who didn't know manners, yet he also wasn't the example of proper behavior. He may be a little lost, yet he got the spirit.
The direbeast presented himself before you. Most of time you were happy to see that grin of his, but this time you were too tired for this chaos. "[Name,]" He began while his tail was twitching from side to side. "I can't pack my whole stuff. This trip is a hassle."
"What were you trying to pack?"
"My blanket, cans of tuna.. you know, the special edition I got from Azul and the plush I got from you." He stretched his paws as to emphasise the tragedy (Nothing too serious in reality).
"My God… I have some space left in my suitcase. You can pack some of your things there. But not too much, understood?" Sometimes you felt like a parent nagging their kid.
Grim's ears turned up and he uttered a howl.
"Ahaha! Right, there is my hunchman!" You let him be. A moment of happiness in his life wasn't forbbiden. You watched as he ran in big jumps to his room.
You went back to Vil. He was supervising everything from luggage to the most unimportant. From a different perspective he looked like a frea-
"Why you're standing in the door?" He zipped one of the bags and mentally checked it as done.
"I was talking with Grim a moment ago. He wants to bring his food along, you know." You told him.
The blonde raised his eyebrow, "Why would he do that? There will be food at my family's house." right, Vil didn't seem like a person who could understand Grim's sentiment for his food.
"Let him be." You defended the creature. You felt bad enough when Vil suggested putting Grim in a pet carrier.
"Check if you packed everything you wanted. We'll be leaving in a few minutes."
You walked up to one of your bags and then to your suitcase. "I think I got everything. I'm ready."
With the last check and zip, the man picked up the stuff.
"Well then, let's set off."
You used the mirror chambers to move to the Shaftlands and when you got there, limousine drove you to your destination.
The views you could see from the limousines window were breathtaking. A different world in many colors. The city in which Vil's house was located was only a half hour ride away.
When you reached the house you weren't surprised how it looked like. When the headmage said 'maison' or 'villa', you knew what will you see.
Once you stepped out of the vehicle you took a better look at things that surrounded you. You saw a nice garden which was quite large. The sky also was presenting itself nicely today.
"Ah, what a ride it was!"
The loud voice of Crowley rang and you turned to look at him. He was stretching his back making too much noise for your liking.
"Dear, take your bag and I will take the rest." Vil said while taking your suitcase in hand and the other stuff in other. You knew he was taking too much to carry so you voiced your worries out, "Isn't it too much? I can carry something…"
You saw a flash of confident smile and heard, "My, are you suggesting I am feeble and won't be able to carry all of this?"
"No, not at all."
At the doorstep you wondered if you'll be ringing the bell, however you saw Vil pull out a key. When he was about to open the door, it opened itself.
"Ah, you're already here. Welcome Mister Crowley! And you too, [Name]," You weren't sure if he smiled more widely at the sight of your or was it your imagination. "Please, go inside. Feel like at home." You unsurely entered the maison looking around. You saw how the classicism dominated the whole interior style and furnishings. The whole place was spacious.
"Your rooms are at the end of the left corridor on the first floor, I'll guide you there-"
"No need for that. I'll do it." Vil interrupted his father taking your hand in his and moving to the direction of the rooms.
"Oh, fine.." Eric was shocked at the sudden annoucement from his son but he didn't worry about it for too long. "Well then, please let me escort you to your room, mr. Crowley."
The whole 'walk' was accompanied with silence. You could only hear your and Vil's footsteps. You felt how his nails slightly digged into your skin. You gave him a glance but you only saw his profile and clenched jaw. Oh, how pretty he looked, even if he was upset or furious.
"Vil?" You shot your chance into the air,
no respone.
Only for it to be sanked away in the deep sea.
The silhouette of perfection and you, dragged by it, not sure if it was a right choice to poke it with a stick.
"I don't want you to deal with them, you should rest."
He looked at you. You saw no fury in his eyes. Oh heaven's, my gratitude!
You were still walking.
"Um, Vil, I think you might have skipped the guest rooms-"
"You'll be staying in my room." He saw your shocked face and immediately corrected himself. "If it's okay with you."
"I don't mind. I am actually excited to see your old room." Both of you entered the second floor and went through a corridor and then turned right. Once you reached a white door you stopped.
"We're here." He opened the door and let you go first. When both of you entered the room he closed the door.
You switched the light on and observed.
It looked.. normal. Empty, almost.
"I took most of my things when I got accepted at Night Raven College." He answered your inner question, while joining you in looking around.
A diploma was on one wall, trophies and awards were on a shelf. You walked around and turned yourself to him. "It looks neat. Hope you won't my sleep wriggling, hm." You shot him a smirk that didn't held any innocent intentions.
"Hah. I would like to see you try."
You ignored him and slumped on the bed. You tried to make yourself as cosy as possible.
Your boyfriend sighed. "I'll go and bring your luggage here."
You checked the time on your phone. It was still a midday yet it already was looking like evening.
You waited ten minutes and Vil finally brought all your stuff into his room. You looked how he was putting your clothing in the wardrobe.
"Does your dad know that I'll be sleeping in your room?"
He continued arranging the clothes, "Does your dad know that you'll be sleeping in my room?"
"..Touché"
You heard him laugh. "See? Potato, you'll need to learn how to be more underhand."
He probably noticed how yours eyes rolled because he only continued chuckling at you.
Then, you heard a knock at the door.
Vil and you stopped in your middoings, unsure what to do.
"Vil?" You heard from behind the door. It was Eric.
The blonde looked at you and then at the door. "Yes?"
"Supper will be ready in 10 minutes, please inform [Name] as well."
You two catched an eyecontact. "I will inform her as soon as possible."
That smile. Again.
You heard the footsteps fade away which meant Eric left.
A moment of silence was present in the room. It was ended by your comment, "That was close."
"He wouldn't come in. In this house we respect privacy."
"In this house we respect privacy." You imitated him as to bother him a little.
Vil turned to you and furrowe his brows. "Care to repeat that?" His eyes squinted at you. It didn't mean anything good.
"I'll pass this time." You waved your hand at him. Your response made him curious, "So there will be a next time?" His derisive grin was stopped when he realized you two should be on the ground floor.
"Oh."
You two quickly fixed yourself to look decent (Vil made sure he didn't look just 'decent' but perfect) and hurried to go down.
"So, how was the ride?"
When you came to the dinning room you felt the eyes on you. You suspected that both the headmage and Eric knew you two were together somewhere. What a hassle.
"Uh.."
You didn't feel like speaking right now.
"Marvelous! It was very kind of you Sir to send a pick up for us. My, my I enjoyed the ride very much." Ah, Crowley was the only one person who wanted to talk.
"I'm happy to hear this." Eric smiled politely. He looked at Vil and then at you. "And what about you two? I understand you were very tired. After arriving you two just wanished away.. I was wondering where you have been." He shook his head sadly. You knew he was faking it. He must have. What's the meaning of this?
"I just wanted to show [Name] the house. I wanted her to feel familiar with it." Vil said with a calm demeanor. He niped his mouth with a handkerchief.
"Oh, I see! I take it you wanted [Name] to familiarize with it because you two plan on visiting once again in the future?" You saw how Vil's dad teased him. You didn't blame him, it was a funny thing to do in free time.
"I never said anything, stop making presumptions."
You didn't want the atmosphere to go foul, so you tried to save the situation.
"Dad, will you pass the salt, please?"
"Here you go."
"Please."
You stared owlishlyat what just happened.
Both Crowley and Eric tried to pass you the salt at the same time. "Ah, excuse me." He chuckled while covering his lower face slightly with hand. "I tried to help as a good host would. Please, help yourself everyone."
You took the salt from Crowley still unsure what just happened. You glanced at Vil who was as shocked as you. You were sure you never saw him so surprised before.
"Oh, mr. Schoenheit, you're such a generous host!"
Right now you just wanted to go to sleep and sleep for eternity.
The whole late dinner was short and it ended after twenty minutes. You bid goodnight's to everyone and went to Vil's room. Vil was already here with lights dimed. He was making the bed. You noticed that he made your side to your liking.
"Where's Grim?"
You walked up to him and sat on the bed.
"He's sleeping in the guest room. He's been sleeping since we arrived. I was surprised he didn't turn up at the dinner." You saw his corners rise.
"He sleeps a lot. He'll have a lot of energy tomorrow."
You were grateful you could take your furry companion with you. If he had stayed at home, you would be worried for him and you would probably drown in sorrow from missing him.
You gazed at the room once again. Even though both of you were here it still looked too blank and bland. It didn't suit Vil's character. At all.
"Your room here looks funny compared to yours at the school. Seriously, it doesn't scream 'Vil' at all." You told him, wanting him to maybe open a little bit on why, even though he didn't spent his time here, he left it so undecorated.
He glanced at you, with confusion painted on his face. "Didn't I tell you why it looks like this? I took my things to the room in my dorm."
"Yes, I know, but.. it looks rejecting." You put emphasis on the adjective. You should buy something for him so he could leave it here and if he comes back to his home room, he'll have something to remind him of the colors of life and give the whole space more liveness.
"Hm, so I am not good enough to cover the deadness?" Vil jested. He himself wasn't really bothered by not being cornered by many items and only be embraced with nothing.
After you heard what he said you nudged him with your elbow. "so funny." You moved closer to him. He saw how you squinted your eyes at him with a fake scowl. Ah, how your face looked so beatiful close-up-
"What you're gawking at?" You noticed how silent he was. He was just.. staring at you. The ultimate uncertainty of not knowing what will happen next has flooded you.
"Schatz, you didn't answered my question."
You felt his hand cup your cheek and saw how the mesmerizing and violet eyes were getting closer to you. When you blinked you saw his face a few inches away from yours. He was looking at you vainly, his thumb wiping your lips.
"Well, you know my main focus is on you," You tried to explain, not sure what he wanted to achieve.
"Ah, that's what I wanted to hear." Vil smiled triumphantly. He closed the left distance between you with a kiss. When he tore off from you, he gave you one last look.
"Dear, come closer. Put your hands on me." You slowly were sanking on the bed second by second thanks to overwhelming Vil's body. After you fully were laid on the bed, you saw how Vil's face looked at you from the above. "I got a little bit lonely during the whole ride.
Would you mind giving me your attention?" You felt his hands on your body, only making soft circles in some places waiting for your agreement. With the way he bated his eyelashes at you and how his pretty eyes were toring into you, you couldn't bring yourself to reject such a tempting offer.
"I shall give you my wholly attention."
Vil's eyes widened at your words, elated with your words. Not caring for being patient, not so gracefully, he threw himself at you. Dipping into you as to taste once again what perfection is.
(DE) Schatz - My treasure/beloved.
You woke up. You had trouble with fully opening your eyes and only limited yourself to slow blinking. The sun was visible as it's rays bursted to the room through one of the windows. You guessed it must have been almost afternoon. You felt heavier than ever and.. was that your imagination or the sheets made it look like it crushed you? You could only see things that could keep you in bed.
Fighting and battling led you to finally open your eyes. You turned to where Vil should be. You noticed that his place was made up. He must have probably gone to eat something or do his routine.
After sitting and gaping at the wall like a man that lost his mind, you got out of the bed. You walked up to the window. Nothing interesting outside. You made a face at that and scratched your arms. The isolate location of the house made everything calm outside. You felt the freedom of having nothing to do. Such a great feeling.
Still in your sleepwear, you left the room. You looked at your left and right. Which corridor was it once again…?
Neverthless, you found the way. On your way you passed painting hanged on the walls. Some of them had people painted on them, some had places, and one even had an animal. Many of them showed different tehnique, style and ceuntry period.
Oh, was that classicism? My, that looked like baroque! And, isn't that Romanticism?
You observed all of them with wonder. You doubted they were fake or just an imitation of the originals. They had to be original.
Such a house, filled to the brim with art. You recalled Eric's words where he in short asked if you planned to come here more frequently. Well, now you were sure you wanted to drop in next time you'll have a chance to.
Your walk was finished once you entered the groundfloor. You passed some housekeeper's and even bid greetings to your animal buddy. You went to the kitchen in which you found Vil. His back was turned to you. He was making.. something.
"Hello, Vil." You said in a little bit raised voice so he could hear you through whatever he was making. He looked over his shoulder as to acknowledge whoever was talking to him. When he saw it was you he gave you a small smile still continuing whatever he was doing. "Hello to you too, my love."
"What you're making?" You came closer to peek at the cooking process. You saw some veggies on the pan, an egg made in a sunny side up. On the countertop there were two cups filled with a green liquid.
"I went down when I noticed you moving in the sleep. I'm almost finished with the breakfast. Feel free to sit down, I already set the plates."
You sat down on one of the chair's in the kitchen. You looked at the plate. Snow-white. Ah, it was the same as the Vil's room. "How are you feeling?" Vil asked as he was giving the vegetables some last touches.
"Great. I slept really good. I'm surprised I woke up so late though." You gave him a look.
Vil took the pan and put the food on your plates. He also took the cup's and put one near you. He sat down on the chair beside you. "I'm happy to hear that."
You dismissed his almost suggestive smile and caught his attention with, "I saw the paintings in the corridors. They look neat." You took a sip of the green liquid (which turned to be a smoothie), and felt the taste of some vegetables on your tongue. A fruit also rolled through. "I knew you would love them. They're lovely, aren't they?" He smiled fondly. He also appreciated their beauty.
"Indeed they are!" You chimed in happy. Your love for art could rival Rook's.
"It's rare to see you so hyped. Maybe I should get myself a painting in my dorm room?" Vil said pleased that you liked so much his family's home.
The rest of the breakfast you two spent on chatting about a few topics, enjoying the cosy atmosphere created by you.
"So, that's the painting you wanted to show me?" [Name] and Vil been standing for what felt like an eternity before the painting. It didn't show anything complicated, it was just some background. Even if it looked pretty basic, the technique of it made it stand out.
"Yes, it's the one I wanted to show you. What do you think?" Vil thought for a while then replied. "It looks nicely done. I remember it was hanged a few years ago."
You were sure it was painted by an artist you knew. You were amazed that you could see an original in the person.
"Your admiration for art is one of the things I like about you." Vil knew many things about you. For an example, you loved art. You excelled in art in your own way. You liked music. You loved to play some pieces from your world not caring what others thought about it. No one ever commented on it because you could do the best performance ever. The way you held an instrument just showed how much you put of yourself in your play.
"Hmm, don't you say so. I still remember the painting I gave you one day." You teased, the picture of it came to your head.
"I actually have it on my desk. The canva is small, so no one really notices it unless they have an eye for the details." You opened your mouth slightly hearing that. You didn't knew he would keep it. You just asumed he would just toss it somewhere or keep it in one of the wardrobe's shelves.
"Really?! You liked it that much?" Your change in mood made Vil smile at you. It was quite easy to light up your mood, wasn't it? "Why, of course. I treasure every gift I get. "
Your nice time was interrupted by your alarm which started ringing. You could see it was past 3 p.m. The dinner was supposed to take place at 4 p.m. You had only one hour left. "Oh." Your bitterness was quickly noticed by Vil. "That alarm was for dinner, right? Let's go and change our clothes. I picked outfits for us." You could hear the excitement at the end of his sentence.
"I swear you're the only person who's happy and cannot wait for the dinner. And only because of the clothes." The girl rolled her eyes at his behavior.
"Don't worry, I made sure to not give you anything that is not stylish." He replied with pride and content face.
"You're the only person who would worry about such things actually.."
And the touring ended.
It was 4 p.m already.
The long table was decorated with a fine tablecloth. It's patterns only gave it more glamor than it had. The chairs were comfortable. The food on the table looked delicious. Everything was perfect. "Ah, mr. Schoenheit! You're being too nice, really! Oh, there's even the wildgame… gracious…"
Or so you thought.
You have been sitting here for only ten minutes. But it was enough for chaos to sprout.
Your father was voicing out his good humor. The vain nonsense was hurting your ears and you wanted him to be silent even for only a few minutes. Vil's dad, Eric, was sitting here too. His flashy, milion dollar (Thaumark) smile was blinding your eyes. You waited for him to laugh like those old rich men do when they play golf. Enough, enough.
Your last straw was Vil. He didn't do anything wrong and that was the problem. Did he not notice the things around you all? The damned things that were about to happen. Oh, maybe he was just playing nice and he actually did and just decided to ignore everything.
The first dish you put on your plate was a steak in jelly. With some vine-like dressing. The food which was put on your plate looked good. It smelt good too. So this means it must taste good too.
You took the first bite. After one second, your tongue tasted it.
Ah, how to say it…
Disgusting. Or more like, not to your taste. The dressing wasn't vine but something sweet which made the dish taste awful. It was a wrong decision to mix something bitter with something sweet.
Mentally you cross yourself.
Since the beginning of the dinner, no one really said anything interesting. Everyone ate in a cosy atmosphere (In their opinion, to you it was dreadful).
"I wanted to thank everyone that we could meet today and be able to taste this excellent food." Eric began out of nowhere. You shuddered at the unexpected noise.
"No, it's us who are grateful. It was a pleasure to met you in person, outside of the school matters." The headmage said, clearly sucking it up to Eric.
"Sir Crowley, you're being too polite." Eric smiled in his direction. "I just wanted to know you closer. People who are important to my son are important to me too. And everything is heading towards us becoming a family soon." The older man finished and took a sip of from his glass.
"Ah, really, How could I not be polite… huh? Family?" The headmage started in a uptone which quickly ended in confusion. Eric swallowed the liquid and send his son and you a look.
"It seems so. They're growing up too quickly, aren't they?"
Crowley's confusion only deepened. Who was growing up too quickly? Surely not you, for him you'll always be a little hatchling which only started walking just now. If he wasn't talking about you, then who was he talking about?
You turned to him and shook your head in a 'no' manner. Please, give it a rest, don't respond, don't respond-
"Hm.. I suppose."
You mentally gave yourself a handfive. You also sighed in a relief.
Thanks heaven.
The second dish you tried was a salad.
The only thing which differed it from a normal salad was that it had tuna in it.
"Oi, [Name]! Give me some of that salad too!" Grim after noticing what you had on your plate automatically also wanted to taste it. You were surprised he was quited this whole time. You didn't want to think about it but maybe he prepared some.. surprise. Not a good surprise.
Stop. I'm overthinking.
"Okay, but please calm down." You put some of the salad on his plate. Not too much in case he decides he doesn't like it.
You also tried it. It was.. good. Normal.
After chewing it for some time, you look at Vil. He was consuming a fish. You also wanted to try it, but it was marinated in sauce you didn't really like.
The blonde notice your gaze on him and pointed his head at you as a sign that you had his attention. You showed him with your thumb up that you liked the salad. He replied back with the same sign. At least in this whole mess you two were eating good.
This time Vil decided to take his voice.
"I'm thinking about collabing with that one brand from Queendom of the roses. They have some new products I wanted to test out."
Ah, how smart of you, Vil. To break the awkwardness with such a text.
"I have heard that you're modeling beside acting. It's very impressive." Crowley commented with a gleeful expression.
"Thank you. I put a lot of effort in my work. I hope the collaboration with that brand will give me new opportunities."
You stopped paying attention to your surroundings. Grim was the only person (Or animal, as Vil likes to say) in the room who didn't really join the conversation. Not surprised.
You picked to eat something sweet as your third dish.
Chessecake with melted chocolate inside sounded good. The sweetness of it made you, even if for a while, forget where you were. For a moment you could escape the harsh reality. With only one bite of a cake.
Eric was talking with Crowley in the background about something. They stepped aside to have some space to converse about some matters. You were sitting with Grim and Vil who joined you two. "Are you tired?"
Vil tucked a strand of hair behind his ear. You probably didn't look good now, tired of the whole dinner and it's length. You nodded your head and leaned back on your chair.
Vil's face became soft and he moved closer his chair to yours. "Feel free to lean on me if you're that tired. It'll be a long time before they finish talking." You leaned your head on his arm.
"Thanks." You smiled at him with close eyes.
"[Naamee], I also want to sleep. I'm tired after eating.." You didn't want Grim to be left out so you patted your lap.
"Come here, Grim."
And so the three of you were half sleeping on two chairs. The only one who was half conscious was Vil who didn't want to fall asleep here.
After some time both Crowley and Eric finished talking and walked up to your little camp near the table. Right now even Vil was sleeping, not being able to resist being awake for such duration.
"Oh," Eric left out and came to you three. "I should have knew they would be sleepy by this time. Maybe I should go get them a blanket.." He put one hand on his son's shoulder as to check if he really was asleep.
The boy didn't even move. He was sleeping hard as rock now. "They look adorable together, don't they?" The older Schoenheit turned to the Headmage with a cheeky grin. "Maybe I was teasing them too much with this whole wedding thing. I saw how furious Vil was yet I didn't stop. I hope he doesn't hold it against me for too long." He chuckled softly and shook his head lightly. "They really fit together. I'm glad my son has someone who supports him and is there for him."
"Excuse me?"
Crowley suddenly frowned and put on something akin to defensive posture. "What do you mean by a wedding? Is there something I don't know?" His face didn't falter. Sometimes even he could look.. scary. Eric's face turned into confusion. "Ah, I understand what do you mean. I know they will think about such things after they finish their school and be old enough to understand that marriage is not a easy decision. Please don't take it in a wrong way, sir Crowley." He tried to fix the atmosphere which turned to the wrong way.
"Eh? So you mean that this boy over there and my precious daughter are in a relationship?" With every word, the headmage managed to put emphasis on every one of them.
Vil's father didn't know what to say. He thought that your father was aware that both of you were dating. "..Of course. The whole reason of this dinner was to get to know each other since ours kids are dating."
"SO THEY'RE DATING? MY [Name] AND YOUR SON?"
After having such a loud talk and the latest yelling of the Headmaster you two were more conscious. Sleep was leaving you with every shout. At first the voices were close to you then they started to fade away.
You groggily looked at Vil who also was in the same state as you. you held eye contact for a while and then asked each other the same question; "What's going on?"
Even though in the background you could hear things like, "She's too young for this,", "They're of age,", "My precious daughter.. to think some boy would steal her from me," or "Sir Crowley, please calm down, you're going to pass out," and "Sevens, please, save me!". You Could count all of them but none of it concerned you.
Ignoring the shouts from far away, with head turned in Vil's direction you only could bring you hand closer to his. He squezzed your hand and you only could see the corners of his lips lift up
. And in such position, the two of you fell asleep once again. In each other's embrace you felt peaceful, no matter if it was some tragedy or just you father's arguing. There, in this large and spacious room you two found a place of comfort.
The only one who was able to see such a sight was Grim, who still sat on your lap. Before he met you he was used to being alone. After meeting you, he understood what love meant and what it was like to be loved. The sight of you and Vil only reassured him that what he was seeing now was love in it's purest form.

keeping in mind the strategic/operational/tactical failures discussed in your earlier post, what would be the major failure point of the worldbuilding in iron flame? feel free to spoiler tag. is it the nature of the enemy and the common public narrative about that?
Okay so even though I finished Iron Flame fairly recently, I have also read a lot of books in the interim, so this may be a little general and may not get every detail totally correct. I'll stick all of my thoughts under a Read More, so if you don't want Fourth Wing/Iron Flame spoilers, just skip this post.
Strategic: To be totally honest, I didn't have a huge issue with the strategic-level worldbuilding of the Empyrean. I think the question of why dragons take part in this whole thing and also why dragons vs. griffins are totally neatly divided by country borders that are relatively new is not clear and sort of a problem, but I could mostly suspend disbelief there.
It definitely is not the most well built out/robust strategic worldbuilding, but I was basically fine with it. My feeling basically boiled down to "it didn't make me actively annoyed so I lived with it and can't currently think of a major issue." Also I like dragons.
Operational: Okay! So!
I found the entire organizational structure/setup of this entire world absolutely baffling to the point of being incomprehensible.
This probably doesn't need to be said, but I will anyway: a major goal of a military is to have as many trained fighters as you can. Attrition is one of the biggest issues faced by militaries (other than logistics) and the more people you are starting with, 1) the more you can do in general and 2) the more people you can afford to lose.
This means that you really want as close to 100% of your potential fighting force to survive training. Even if you only view people as cannon fodder, literally the point of cannon fodder is to put them in front of the cannons, not kill them in training.
I know the argument presented in the series by Violet is that it inures them to death so they can keep going when their teammates die, but that is terrible for a military. Yes, people need to be able to keep going when their teammate dies, but the training system has them killing each other. They are incentivized to kill each other! And so this school is literally training them to commit friendly fire incidents. Do you know what happens in a military that trains its soldiers to commit friendly fire incidents? They all kill each other and can't work effectively as a team. And being inured to that? That's just PTSD! You are just fucked up!
So having this military school system where they need to kill each other to win makes for a dramatic story but is an absolutely awful military training setup.
But also these are (or should be, if they had a non-awful system) highly trained members of the military, which makes them extremely valuable and also extremely expensive. People who fail out should just get stuck in a different part of the military instead of basically being killed.
And actually to that point, this whole setup would make much more sense if they had the equivalent of basic training and then had people specialize, the way they do in the real military. You absolutely want your military forces to be interoperable, and they are not even a little bit in this world.
Also why the hell don't these people use more ground forces? The number of dragon riders is limited to the number of dragons, but you can just have as many infantry as you can logistically sustain. Set up an effective border defense.
If you look at the traitor people (I can't remember what they're called right now), sticking them in the elite fighting force school also doesn't make any sense. I know they gave some in-universe reason for it, but especially because of the incomprehensible "if more than three of them are near each other then we can't magically surveil them" system if they were actually viewed as a security risk, they shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the military, much less in the dragon forces.
They're a literal flight risk! There is absolutely nothing keeping them from defecting en masse. They can't be surveilled when they're together! Also they could commit friendly fire attacks! None of it makes any sense!
I also never really understood why they were keeping the real enemy a secret and why there was such a concerted effort. It didn't seem like the military leadership/king got any real benefit from maintaining a massive conspiracy to...kneecap their own military force.
The funny thing is that since finishing Iron Flame I've read basically all of Rebecca Yarros's other books, which are basically all contemporary romance, and she writes a lot of military-adjacent books, and they generally don't have this problem. Her husband was (is?) in the military, and she seems to have a decent understanding of it, so I'm not sure why she threw that all away for this.
Tactical: Okay so this is a lot related to the issue of "why are the trainees incentivized to kill each other" but Violet's ability to poison her way through her sparring didn't make any real sense if they was any point to the sparring. She should have just been made to spar with some instructors. And also they should have had some real fighting training. Though again that's more an operational issue.
Violet definitely had a lot of Plot Strings (the plot "coincidentally" moving her to the right place at the right time to do something only she could do): especially, that she (the person who happened to have the father who knew all of the plot-relevant things for some reason) happened to get magically soul-bonded to Xaden (the person leading the group that happens to know the truth about everything). I understand the whole situation with her mother, but her mother didn't control the soul bonding.
Overall the issue on a character level was more of a "wow this person just happens to have/be exactly what we need at this time" (the prince! who was just there! until he was extremely plot relevant coincidentally just when we needed him!) but each character was mostly believable taken in isolation.

POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING FOR SONG OF ACHILLES, BUT I'LL TRY TO AVOID THEM
this is probably going to sound like an essay you would write at school. idk why but when I go on rants like this my writing turns formal for some reason.
Y'all I just finished reading Song of Achilles for the first time... and I have thoughts
firstly, I'm gonna recommend that if you're planning on reading this book, which I think everyone should at some point, you should wait until you're at least 15-16 years old. Cos there are some SPICY scenes that are definitely not kid friendly, so younger kids probably shouldn't be reading it.
But generally it's an amazing book. It's filled with beautiful wholesome gayness that makes me feel fuzzy, and the way that Madeline Miller wrote it using an older style of language really gives it an older feel than when it was released, 2011.
While I was reading the book, because of how well written it is, I kept on forgetting that this is not actual mythology no matter how much it feels like it should be, and I know this is probably because it was heavily inspired from the 'Iliad', but like, if the author had said it was really mythology, I wouldn't doubt them for a minute.
Every time there was a little chunk of wholesome gayness (like every few pages) my heart got all fuzzy and it made me smile, because of the way that it was written really makes you feel the love that the two characters have for each other.
But aside from the wholesomeness, this is based on Greek mythology, so you know we gotta have several different things, and I'm gonna list them
a complete asshole that you hate but refuses to die
the gods being assholes
the gods fucking shit up
divine intervention
a prophecy
✨Greeks doing stupid things✨
I'm gonna tag people cos idk who else has read it and I wanna rant.

Louis De Pointe Du Lac: A Study on Memory
Okay this started off as me berating myself for watching "I Could Not Prevent It" before work. And devolved into revelations. So enjoy my sleep deprived ramblings. Spoilers ahead for S2.
Okay why the fuck did I watch this episode knowing I have a week of hell at work ahead of me? Because now I'm spiraling going through the tag on Twitter. There is SO much nuance added to Loustat. And after hours upon hours of the manipulation that is Loumand, to finally have Loustat again is driving me mad. Because we got them back but at what cost? This isn't them and because so much of Paris is laced with Armand, it's hard to tell what's real from what we think is real. Hell Armand said the very same. But I don't mean the obviously not real elements like the trial. I mean the times Lestat breaks character, but instead of adding to what Louis told us, it's almost a complete rewrite. Which brings into question how unstable Louis' mind actually is. Louis who is attentive and consistently praises Daniel for his memory. Daniel who is not a spring chicken and had a very serious drug addiction for almost a decade. The man whose memory shouldn't be as intact as it is. Why does he recall more than the vampire who's supposed to be better than humans. Yes time warps things but complete rewrites? Is Louis' brain and memory that fragile or is this more manipulation from Armand? Which also begs the question, how much is Armand doctoring Louis' memory? After the San Francisco episode they want us to believe if he can rewrite a week, he can do more. But what if he HASN'T done that much. What's Louis' actual mental decline and what's Armand? We also still have no explanation for Lestat outside of Louis potentially being schizophrenic...........holy shit I think I just answered my own question.
Schizophrenia is a genetic trait. I've been saying it's the trauma because I wrote off Paul as an anomaly in their family. But what if he's not? What if Louis' own schizophrenia was simply delayed BECAUSE of the vampirism. But time is catching up to him and the immortal blood can only do so much. "Law number 2: The Dark Gifts must never be given to the crippled." The law goes on to say it's because the gift should be bestowed on beauteous people as a laugh in the face of god. But time and time again we've heard it can't be given to children who are also considered crippled, because their brains can not handle it. It has nothing to do with beauty and everything to do with vampirism exacerbating issues. When Lestat made Louis he seemed of sound mind and body, and he was...because it hadn't started yet. And a vampire surviving brutal injuries in turn makes them stronger. Louis burns himself his first day. The fall was his first big recovery. Then the burning in SF. He's gotten stronger which keeps the decline at bay. But he's growing weaker living in that tomb of an apartment. Armand goes out but Louis stays home. Isolated.
He tried to break free with Daniel once. Here we are again and would you look at that...his memory is suddenly coming back clearer. Okay I need to sleep before I dig even deeper into whether or not I'm way off base or I've cracked the code.

Hey guys, daily update here I guess
We ignore the fact my Internet activeness is sporadic and never consistent, therefore meaning I will likely never do a "daily update" or whatever I end up calling what this post is-
Uhm
So I have a writing dilemma and I'm kinda laughing about it since it's... well, not something I have ever thought about before.
I was trying to pick up The Spark - Chapter Five where I'd left off, since, uh, the only brainrot writing I've done for the AU has been for future future scenes. Like, the parts where the plot HEAVILY picks up and we get into all of the angst that was the whole reason I began fleshing out this AU in the first place. That stuff.
Setting aside all that angst I shouldn't talk about because spoilers- Uhh, I was getting back to Chapter Five, which is basically all fluff and some tiny lore snippets that hint at angst because why not. The chapter is going to be very sweet and SO toothrottingly fluffy, I should really add that tag if I haven't already.
While trying to move the flow along the outlined path of the summary for that chapter of which I wrote two days ago afternoon while invigorated by a coffee, I... realized something.
I have never written a frisbee scene before.
Like, how do you go about writing two characters playing that classic game we all know how it's done, and make it not seem all dry?? How do you write something like that... and make it good?!
It's funny, I am amused by it. It's easily the weirdest dilemma I've faced in writing before.
Honestly, I might as well just wing it and see where the words take me... which is what I did when I finally tried to write a romantic scene (not for Spark AU, but actually for Arc Two, but I'm not saying anything more-) and that turned out pretty okay to my surprise-
ANyway- I got off topic- Back to Spark AU frisbee issues-
HOW WRITE FRISBEE- HOw I write this- How- I do not know-
This isn't exactly a plea for assistance, I just thought I would share since I found the issue interesting. But uhh I am always open to any stray suggestions!! :D
Also here, have a random shot of the hollow-wolves, hehe
It was funnier when Second was a baby wolf, but eh They're all still cute
#Scarlett Post#The Spark AU#minor minor spoiler?#teeny tiny implied spoiler?#i dunno- probably fine-#also minecraft shenaniganery#Scarlett Minecraftery

this is directed towards the owners of the account, and sure, any "fans" too. you cannot pretend to not realize that ALL you're doing is bringing toxicity into the fandom.
it's been less than a week and your posts are already mimicking 2018/2020 fandom misogyny.
you're giving hate a platform. that's all you're doing. it's not fun, it's not interesting.
that in addition to how clueless you are about slurs and general etiquette and respect on the site, maybe should be a hint that you shouldn't be running this.
You can go ahead believe that I am clueless about slurs, but personally, as someone who's very identity gets called a slur all the fucking time, I get pretty annoyed when someone makes the call that something is a slur when it doesn't apply to them. Whenever something annoys me, I tend not to do it to others, but that's just me.
I may be a minority on a couple different fronts, but unless I was suddenly an expert in Native Canadian or Alaskan culture and general opinions of the term, I'm not making that call, and in my opinion, neither should anyone else who isn't either well informed or affected personally by that specific term. I know how etiquette on this site works. I've also been on this site, for long enough, to have formed my own opinions on how well this site practices etiquette. (That means I've watched enough people get run off this site to know this site kinda doesn't practice etiquette). I have explained, in my pinned post, exactly why I choose to ignore the rules people have decided are the standard, because they do not work for spoiler tagging, and we are discussing a media partially locked behind a pay wall. There are dropout fans, who can't watch every season of dimension 20, because they watch through YouTube and/or Spotify. I am going to continue using the primary tags as well as the anti tags for tagging purposes, because I do not want to be the reason someone learns about a character death, every time someone wants to talk about how they kinda didn't like a character who may or may not be a backup character wink wink to those of you who know which season i am referring to I fully gave everyone a new tag (#negative dropout confession), that I retroactively went back and applied to all the posts I believed it fit, so that you could block posts that were negative. Now I'm not perfect, and am actually pretty shitty at social queues and kinda forgetful, so if you find a post you think is negative in a way that isn't "i kinda would have preferred this, but i loved the season" let me know, i will retag it as such. I'm only human and just like everyone else, not above being checked on my shit. If that's still not enough, it's a 3 click process to block this blog entirely. We here at dropoutconfessions will be sad to see you go, but I'll still understand. A place of anonymity, to freely share how you feel, is going to attract people who have feelings that usual get them hatred. And yes, some people misuse it. Typically, I do one of 2 things when that happens.
If it's a misunderstanding of the media, I'll add corrections to to the response to clarify, anything I miss, 3-5 people will probably take care of within an hour of the post going up, just check the replies
If it's something truly awful to say, I'll block the asker and delete the ask. Something I've had to do about half a dozen times already.
I have, multiple posts, debating those very posts you are referring to I have, multiple people, defending those characters, in the replies and reblogs of those posts you're referring to I have, multiple posts, in queue (as of me writing this reply) because i don't like flooding people's blogs, that are saying the exact same thing, without calling me toxic and clueless I understand you don't like the hatred, I don't like it either. But I do believe everyone deserves a platform if they'll be civil about it, and they give their opponents an opportunity to call their take absolute dogwater, once again, check the replies, some of these asks get flamed almost immediately. And no. I don't think all I do is bring toxicity to the fandom. People use this as an outlet for how they feel about just, the story. There's like, multiple posts about how people are a bit overbearing expecting perfection from the cast and how certain seasons deserve more love and how amazing some of the other shows are and how amazing some of the cast members are. It's easy to see the negativity, but it's not all there is. And trust me I'm not immune to that either, it's exhausting sometimes. I have gotten more asks about how "obsessed everyone is with Brennan Lee Mulligan" than I ever have about Brennan in a context outside of d20, the show that he runs. Tunnel vision is a bitch sometimes. And at the end of the day, if you think I'm doing a bad job at this, you can make your own confessions blog. This blog exists cause I got bored of my statistics homework, and realized there wasn't a confessions blog. You can too, and if everyone prefers yours, they can use yours, I truly do not mind. This blog is just something I feel like needs to exist, and since no one else was actively doing it (as far as I could tell, no one has told me the contrary). It's really just something to do with my hands so I can focus on dnd games and my video calls with my gf. That's it. If you have any specific suggestions on how I can improve, I'm open to listening to them, as I have proved in the past, but beyond sharing how I feel and addressing how you feel, I don't really know what to say or do. Thank you for telling me how you feel about this blog, this fandom, and Dropout, a media company we love. That's all I could ever want from an ask on this blog.

Hello, @ominous-feychild ! 👋✨
From the QnA tag, my eyes immediately went to Tazin the theatre kid (can relate). Can you tell me a little more about this character?
Haha, it doesn't shouldn't surprise me that you'd be interested in Tazin "the theater kid" {REDACTED}, Golden! Sorry for taking a while to get to this ask, I've been busy!
(Aka I've been stubborn about trying to get to these in order, but was stuck on Ludmila's part of another ask...)
Before I begin, I figured I should clarify: Tazin's name is pronounced "tah-zeen"! I've received some questions on this in the past and I know it's unconventional, so.
Tazin {REDACTED} | aka "Svarog"
So, to begin with! Unlike most characters, Tazin's last name will never be given within these posts, haha. Not only does he purposely hide it/his family, but it's actually spoilers! His family's name appears within the story, and I definitely don't want to expose him early, haha.
The reason I call him "Tazin the theater kid" is because, predictably, he's an absolute theater kid. I mean, he's never been able to do participate in theater stuff because Glavnran (but especially Kavo, the town he grows up in) is way too poor and stuck in survival mode to be able to afford stuff like that. But, still! Just one glimpse at this kid and you'd see it.
I'll give you a few glimpses of an as-of-the-moment (and will be for a while) unpublished chapter narrated by him as a treat, haha.
It wasn’t normal for someone to be in the alley, of course. The only “decent” people to ever go there would be the pasidnyy—taking a shortcut in pursuit of a villain—or a person chasing something stolen by the wind. Why would you go through an alley when it put you at risk of running into a bolyui or some punk looking for trouble? Well, Tazin was that punk. And bolyui weren’t real. They were just a scary story told to children to make them behave for adults.
(Note: bolyui are very real. The first and second chapters prove that much, and that they are utterly terrifying. He's just an arrogant kid who thinks he knows everything. /lh)
But some of {the "everyday people" on the streets} might’ve been pretenders, like him. Some of them might be out there with ominous motives—might even be working with the khonitva. Them, or the uzhar. Like him. Except, he didn’t work with the uzhar anymore. He’d seen to that.
(This kid KILLS me, istg--)
This strategy never went wrong. Nope, nuh-uh.
A genius plan, of course. He’d come up with it, after all.
Worst case scenario, if he couldn’t lose his pursuers, he could just set another building on fire. That always distracted people. A kid goes in a building, then the building burns down. Nobody ever suspected that the kid made it out—much less that the fire was meant to cover his escape.
(If that seems unrealistic, it's because it is. The cops absolutely suspect the kid survived, especially since he's pulled that exact same stunt a few times. He just thinks he's getting away with it because he hasn't noticed anything and they're too busy putting out the fires/saving others to find him in or escaping from the site.)
But Tazin’s mind wasn’t on any of his strategies. Instead, he was thinking of the letter he’d left. ‘I left the uzhar,’ it’d begun. ‘I don’t care if you want me to stay with them, I QUIT!’ Tazin had written, aggressively underlining the word “quit.” When he’d left the uzhar, he’d destroyed one of their hideouts. The recipient probably didn’t know that, but Tazin was sure that the uzhar had figured it out. That, and the message he was trying to send by doing so. Fire was Tazin’s whole ‘thing’, after all. ‘They were horrible, just like YOU, and I hate both of you!’ he’d written, once again aggressively underlining the word “you” on top of using all caps. ‘So I’m not going back,’ Tazin had written. Little did the recipient know that Tazin wouldn’t be able to go back even if he wanted to. He’d burned that bridge—almost literally—alongside their hideout. That’s why he’d done it, after all. ‘And don’t expect me to come back to you, either,” Tazin had initially finished the letter with. ‘You’re no better than them.’ But then he’d crossed the two sentences out, running the charcoal over them so it’d be impossible for the recipient to read it. As much as he wanted to hurt the recipient of his letter, he also hated the thought of it. And calling them “no better than the uzhar” would be too far. If Tazin had told them that, they might’ve finally given up on Tazin completely. Left him alone. And, as much as Tazin tried telling himself otherwise, he didn’t want to be abandoned. Not again. So, instead of that, Tazin had replaced those lines with: ‘and tell Mom I’m NOT coming back and to STOP looking for me!!!’
THIS IS ALL FROM HIS INTRO CHAPTER BTW-- 🤣
That last "bit" (read: everything about the letter) is spaced out between paragraphs of action. He's thinking about it while doing other stuff. I think it's a great intro chapter in general that pretty solidly explains his character and a lot of his business, haha.
Then again, maybe I'm just flattering myself.
ANNNNYHOW! As you can probably tell, he's an absolute drama queen with horrible attachment issues. A little under a year before the start of the story, Tazin was kicked out of his home. His family later changed their minds and tried inviting him back, but he's stubbornly refused to return, leading to him being in the position he is at the start of the Arcane Rifts.
I don't know if it's clear from the snippet (overall it's not the biggest deal but I want to clarify), but the "recipient of the letter" isn't his dad, but someone who is/was closely associated with his family.
Overall, Tazin's genuinely a fun character to write (most of the time)! He's very overdramatic; his narration is condescending toward the reader, as though he's talking to them, because he sees his own life as a story where he's the tragic hero; and whether it's ironically or played straight, lots of people seem to find him pretty funny.
Which, hey, he'd love to hear that!
(Minus the ironically part... actually tbh young!Tazin would probably lash out at you if you told him you thought he was funny. Y'know, thinking you thought he needed the validation. Whoops.)
Like Gene, Tazin starts the story young. He's only nine at first (if you couldn't tell,,,) but progresses to fifteen by the end of book 1 (there's a lot of timeskips through Important Events as the kids age up. Trust me, I'm careful with the pacing though, haha).
But, uh... that definitely colors my perception of his character a little differently than I'm sure you guys will see him. For a long while, you'll only see him as a kid, where his more negative traits (arrogance, selfishness, refusal to admit if/when he's wrong, etc) are a lot more excusable and possibly even charming. But in my head, all I see is how that stuff carries over to Adult!Tazin (because he never gets better), and I like him a lot less because of that, haha.
On a similar note, feel free to check out the songs that represent him.
A little more relevantly! If it wasn't obvious enough already (or if you haven't stumbled upon me mentioning it before), Tazin is a fire mage and healer! Otherwise known as a sech and izsech respectively in their language. Both powers typically come from their fire god (which, out-of-universe, takes a lot of inspiration from Hestia), Rholvny.
Like most mages, Tazin has an affinity for his element... which has turned more into an obsession for him if you couldn't tell. I've mentioned before that his (actual, lowkey) obsession with arson is related to a traumatic incident in his past?
Tazin is a complicated character. As much as I (hate to hate and hate to) love him, his character arcs revolve around his family / abandonment issues; the many, many problems it caused him (he used to just be a brat, but now...); and his relationship with Gene.
The two--Gene and Tazin--grow up together supporting one another because nobody else will do so for them. Tazin faces discrimination for his arson his skin tone, being Jhandan (or Fantasy!Indian) in a xenophobic country, aaaand for his deeply problematic aggression issues. Gene, on the other hand, is disabled and autistic--and you betcha Glavnran is ableist and social darwinists, too!
On Tazin's end, their relationship is/was problematic for a few reasons. One, Gene is too timid to stand up to him, leading to Tazin's worse habits never getting corrected since he can get away with them. Two, Gene becomes an enabler for Tazin's worse traits because of their history together. Aaaand, three... while Gene sees Tazin as like a brother, Tazin develops romantic feelings for him by the end of the first book.
Yeah. There's just NO end to the problems there--
But I guess those are just some of the many tragedies associated with two kids raising themselves and each other! (Despite that, they're still cute to read the interactions of whenever Tazin isn't being toxic.)
And, of course, this is all stuff I tackle (even if only through implication) within the story!
I'm sure this all is only one of the many reasons tAR won't be the most popular of my stories. 😅😭
Sorry I got a good bit into Gene there! I don't know if you can tell, but the two are practically inseparable, and their dynamic with one another majorly shapes how they turn out! (For probably obvious reasons.)
Hope you enjoyed reading! I actually cut out a LOT of possible snippets for the sake of (nonexistent) brevity, haha. Feel free to reblog and/or tell me what you think! PS: I think I'm probably going to change Tazin's title to "the dramatic". Thoughts?

18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
tags: @illiana-mystery
request from @onedirectionlovers2014
request: So when Tony has to push the middle up towards the sky at the end of the movie and goes into space and blows that up, when he's calling pepper, that can be changed to the reader, the reader actually answers and hears everything so they're worried But the avengers bring Tony home afterwards and the reader basically takes care of him by feeding him and running him a bath
warnings: Avengers 1 spoilers, mention of death, Battle of New York, swearing
I raced back to New York as quickly as possible. Images of Tony flying through the wormhole played through my head as pieces of the phone call he made repeated themselves over and over again. When Happy could no longer get the car through the city safely, I told him to just meet me at Stark Tower when he could.
"He's going to be alright (Y/N)." Happy said, squeezing my shoulder before letting me take off in search of Tony. Police, SHIELD agents, and everyone in between gave me strange looks as I went racing through the city. I kept trying to call Tony but I didn't get a response. It wasn't until I tried calling Natasha that I felt like I was finally able to breath.
"He's alright. We're on our way to Stark Tower now." She said. "One last...back off Stark...no I'm not giving you...HEY!"
"(Y/N)?" Tony asked. I put a hand on my chest and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank fuck." I breathed out. Tony laughed on the other end. "Don't you ever do that again Anthony. You scared the crap out of me."
"I know. I'm sorry." Tony said softly. There was some teasing from Natasha in the background and I could hear Steve trying to keep the peace. "We're almost back at the tower. We got to grab Loki and then we're good. Thought about going out to try shawarma. Wanna join us?"
"No. And you're not going anywhere mister." I said. I could hear Tony gulp on the other end. "You are going to stay at the tower and wait for me. Then we are going to eat actual food and I am going to make sure you are alright." The line went silent for a second. "I saw you fall Tony. The suit powered down didn't it?" Silence. "Tony." I breathed out, looking up at the street sign. "Listen ETA ten minutes. I'll wait in the lobby. Come get me when its safe."
"Will do. Love you." Tony said before handing the phone back to Natasha. I hurried through the destruction to the tower. Fury was already there and ushered me in.
"I told Tony I'd wait here for him." I said. "What the fuck happened? Sending a nuke..."
"Security counsel." Fury said. "I was the only one who vetoed." I stared at him for a second before nodding. "(Y/N), you should know...and knowing Stark he won't tell you..."
"He called me. I know he went up. I know the suit powered down. That suit wasn't meant for space travel. Which is what I'm assuming he did." I said. Fury nodded.
"He was dead when he came down." I paused and looked away. "Rogers and Banner were with him. The Hulk actually. Thor too. But Rogers wouldn't have known the first thing to do and Thor was going to light Stark up to bring him back. Hulk did something and it brought him back." My eyes found Tony as he walked out of the elevator, Loki surrounded by the rest of the Avengers. "He's too proud to admit it, but he needs you. Especially now." I nodded.
"He was going to go out with the team for food. I'm making him stay in." I said. "Did someone look him over?" Fury shook his head. "Course not. Send someone up to the penthouse. Or what's left of it. Tony and I will meet them up there." Fury nodded once he saw Tony making his way over to us.
"Thank god you're safe." Tony breathed out as he hugged me. I hugged him back, finally feeling all the anxiety leave my body once he was back in my arms. "I'm so sorry for scaring you. I shouldn't have done that." Tony rubbed my arms as he pulled back.
"Called me?" I asked. "Or taken the missile up?" Tony dropped his gaze to my shoulders. "Because we both know that if you were faced with that possibility again, you wouldn't change a thing about how you handled it." Tony nodded and leaned in to bury his face in my neck. "Just make sure you have a better suit next time. One designed for wormhole based space travel." Tony let out a quiet laugh before pulling away to lead me back upstairs.
"Its kind of destroyed. But the bathroom still works. And the bedroom is fine." Tony rambled.
"We can rebuild. Its fine." I assured him. "I'm going to order food from that one Italian restaurant in Queens. Assuming its still there. We can have a bath while we wait for it." The doctor that Fury had sent up came into view and Tony paused. "But before all that, you are going to get checked out." He looked over at me with a frown. "Fury told me your heart stopped. You were dead Tony. Neither of us know what Hulk did but he brought you back. You owe Banner for that by the way. It was Rogers and Thor and we both know neither one of them would know the first thing about getting you out of that suit or the help you needed. So you are going to get looked over," I pointed a finger in Tony's face. "And I am going to assess the damage to our private area. Then we are taking a bath and eating and going to bed." I patted Tony's shoulder as the doctor came over before walking away to see if we would need to get a hotel for the night.

Good Omens Fic Rec: in the house we remain
Aziraphale buys a quiet cottage in the middle of the English countryside. It is perfect in every way: old-style, quaint, surrounded by wilderness, with a small water feature in the back and a price to rival that of any other property he's seen. He is in love from the moment he sees it. But when a mysterious set of books, all written by unknown author A.J. Crowley, appears on his book shelf, Aziraphale begins to wonder if there is perhaps more to this house than he'd originally believed. The truth can be buried, but it cannot stay hidden forever.
Length: 48,334 words
AO3 Rating: Mature / Spice Level 🔥
Best for: Mostly Safe in Public, At Home, Angst, Human AU
Triggers: Major Character Death
Read it here, fic by commodorecliche
*Minor Spoilers* It's almost frustrating that this story of Aziraphale falling in love with a ghost is one of the most gripping and beautiful stories I've read. It shouldn't work this well, it should be a crack idea. But this is such a powerful piece of fiction. It seamlessly blends romance with mystery and horror. Get your tissues, settle in, this one will haunt you.
Aziraphale has just moved to a cozy cottage in the countryside. If he's hearing things, feeling weird drafts, and noticing things out of place, well, that's just him settling in. Soon, there will be no denying the strange events, and it starts with a set of unpublished books written by an AJ Crowley. The previous, deceased, owner of the house.
This is heartbreaking. It's grief pools over everything. As Aziraphale learns more about the entity who haunts his cottage you will start to grieve as well. The way they begin to communicate was so thrilling and the softest romance. On one hand, we know they're soulmates and belong together despite any obstacle. On the other, it's a tragedy and horrifying. It's gorgeous and grotesque.
It's mostly safe in public, but an at home read for me. If you were destroyed by All of Us Strangers, I think you'll want to check this out. But mind the tags and warnings, there is graphic descriptions of death and major character death. Technically a happy ending? But that's a grey area in itself. I'd love to know how you guys feel about this ending actually
Read it here, fic by commodorecliche
P.S Spoilers under the cut because I want to scream about this story so come back once you've read this
I literally started crying when Aziraphale discovers what was tucked into the attic, the way Crowley was never appreciated as an author was so painful!! Crowley's death destroyed me!! The scene of the water splashing and Aziraphale trying to save him??? Only to come inside and see him?? THE ART???? This one has got me UNWELL.
But also what a horror! Aziraphale never experiencing a full life with Crowley, never knowing the physical touch of a person for what was it 40 years?? That's both romantic and devastating.
UGH I will never get over the scene of Aziraphale watching Adam discover his body. It made my blood run cold. And how Crowley had to watch over his decaying body as well. FUCK this one is so insanely good and how can I explain that to a normie? Hm? Yeah this human au of my blorbos falling in love even though one of them is a ghost literally had me crying screaming and throwing up and this is a normal thing for me
My views on the ending? I think I lean on the horror end of the scale. Yes they are together, but stuck watching over every new owner of the house, still never getting to experience a real life together

i want to be delulu with you especially because i would hope for a major character's death to be less idk idk "anti-climatic"??? ig i'm mostly baffled because it felt so "that's it" to me??? but from a storytelling standpoint, death fakeouts are kinda annoying to me in any movie/tv/book i've consumed that's done it lmao. and putting the irl content warning as "character death" and it not meaning a character's actual death is odd (if the character comes back to life fine! but if a creator decides to have content warnings then they shouldn't lie in the warnings)???
THIS KIND OF TURNED INTO A RAMBLE, AND IT’S DEFINITELY FULL OF SPOILERS, SO IT’S ALL GOING UNDER A CUT!
There’s an art to giving an important character a very cut and dry death, without the impact and buildup you would expect. It’s an excellent way to show people that even powerful characters aren’t immune to the simplicity that is death, and it’s a fantastic way to show how powerful the one doing the killing is. It’s a powerful way of subverting expectations and putting people on their heels. When done right. If done improperly, it can be very upsetting and jarring, and leave the viewers dissatisfied.
If Erik intends for Vega’s death to be permanent in this way, this is an excellent way to showcase just how powerful Hush really is. It’s also a sweet way of ending his story, because he died defending the Warden from what he perceived as a threat. If this IS a permanent death, I think Erik is skilled enough to do it properly. That being said, I don’t think that’s what he’s doing.
Death fakeouts can be upsetting, when handled in a ‘ha ha, gotcha! Can’t believe you fell for that’ kind of way. I don’t think that’s how Erik would go about doing this. He puts too much care into his writing to pull something like that, for shock value alone. I think this was meant to showcase how terrifyingly strong Hush truly is, but Vega’s story doesn’t feel finished, so I’m going to assume he’s going to return at some point.
As for the character death tag, I’m very glad he included it, even if it’s a fakeout. Whether or not it’s a real death is irrelevant. In the moment, the person listening to this will be experiencing what sounds like a character death. And if that’s something that would put them in a bad situation, they should be made aware of it. Including that tag allows people who haven’t listened yet protect themselves from experiencing something that would hurt them. It turning out to not be true won’t change how the listener felt in this moment.
So even if Vega’s death is a fakeout, I very much appreciate Erik using the tag 😊

Every Little Thing *He* Does is Magic, Chapter 2
Pairing: Platonic Steven Grant x Reader (for now)
Rating: T
Word count: ~800
Story Summary: The events of Every Little Thing She Does is Magic, retold from Reader's perspective after the fact to her best friend.
Tags/Warnings: Companion fic, canon Divergent since Steven still works for the British Museum post-canon, No Jake Lockley, developing friendship, spoilers for ELTSDiM
A/N: Double update since this one is so short! Proceed to chapter 3. 😉
“...So how did the rest of your first week go?”
Y/N smiled as she FaceTimed with Amy while making herself dinner the following Friday night. “It went well! Most of it was reading paperwork and meeting various benefactors and trustees, but my meeting with the Curatorial staff today was really productive. The Egyptian exhibit should only be closed for a few days at most to install the new artifacts.”
She paused to take a sip of water. “Steven made a great suggestion to bring some vases up from storage to spruce up the Ancient Greek collection, which can literally be done overnight, so we'll be updating that area as well.”
Amy grinned. “ Steven did, huh?”
Y/N nodded, ignoring Amy’s suggestive tone. “He also had a lot of really great, out-of-the-box ideas on how to improve the tours and said he could have a sample tour based on those ideas to show me by Monday morning.”
“Oh that's great! I know you were hoping to have the tours redone before those new artifacts are in place.”
Y/N nodded. “Yeah, but I felt bad because I probably shouldn't have had Steven do any VES-related tasks until he officially started on Monday even though he signed the paperwork today. After he and I wrapped up our solo meeting he mentioned needing to get back down to the gift shop since he was technically still employed as a clerk until Sunday.”
Amy winced. “Oh oof, yeah, I'm sure that's an entirely different pay grade, although from what you’ve said it seemed like he didn’t actually mind doing tasks for his new position early.”
Y/N shook her head. “That’s what I thought too, but then he clarified that it was only because he knew I was busy and he didn't want to bother me by… how did he put it? Oh yeah, ‘hovering’.”
“Oh, okay, good. That was really considerate of him.”
Y/N nodded, a small smile forming on her face at the memory. “Yeah, he definitely seems like he's a really caring person. I told him he wasn't bothering me and that after staring at a mountain of paperwork and meeting a bunch of people with tangential connection to the museum it was nice to be able to actually talk to someone on staff.”
Amy winked. “Specifically him though, right?”
Y/N huffed out a laugh. “I have to admit, it definitely didn't hurt that it was him. Anyway, he asked me how I was settling in and I said that the staff had all been really welcoming for the most part and that I wasn't sure how I was going to be received since I'm not British, and then he said that it didn't matter where I was from, that my qualifications spoke for themselves.”
Amy raised an eyebrow, her lips turning up in a smile. “So basically everything I said when you were freaking out about everyone hating you.”
Y/N huffed out a breath, a smile on her own face. “Yeah, yeah, you were right. He really did have to get back downstairs after that though because I had a phone call I had to take.”
“So do you think everything is going to work out?”
Y/N nodded. “Everyone seems on board with the changes I'm making so far, and I really do think Steven’ll make a great Visitor Engagement Specialist -- he’s incredibly knowledgeable and observant.”
“And hot,” Amy added with a smirk. “And exactly your type.”
Y/N’s face heated. As much as she’d tried over the past week, she couldn't completely ignore her attraction to Steven. “Maybe, but that has nothing to do with my belief in his ability to do his job or why I promoted him in the first place.”
Amy let out a light laugh. “I know, I'm just teasing you.”
“Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing his ideas for the new tours in action.” Y/N paused. “Oh, I forgot to tell you, in addition to the Egyptian artifacts on loan from Cairo, we just had a donation of first editions of several classic British novels come in.”
Amy’s eyes lit up. “Ooh, now you're speaking my language.”
Y/N grinned. “I thought you'd be interested in that. I'll send you some pics once we get them authenticated and the display is set up.”
“Please do.”
Y/N nodded as she turned off her stove. “I should run, my dinner is ready. I'll talk to you later though, ‘kay?”
Amy nodded. “Okay, talk to you later.”
“‘Night, Ames.”
“‘Night!”
Y/N ended the call then plated her food.
As she sat down to eat, her mind drifted to Steven. His ideas for revamping the tours really were great and Y/N was excited to see them in practice. I can't wait until Monday.
