I ain't gonna say it , but I will. Immediately, the ones that had his back -had his back almost immediately from the jump, the ones that wanted to, but didn't; make's sense. I highly doubt they meant it in a culture sense, but it most definitely showed when my sisters and I watched it. Especially coupled with small movements and other scenes when taken into viewpoint. However, everything is entirely new still so I will make a more in-depth post when the view rate seems more appropriate to release spoilers, but yeah, I have a lot to say concerning the aiding in this flim.

I hate ship wars so much because, not only are they a ludicrous reason to abuse each other over in online spaces, the arguments only ever seem to tear down queer readings of a text for the sake of personal interpretations of a relationship (even if that relationship is also queer).
So you just have people arguing back and forth with each other over why their particular queer reading is the one true legitimate or canon or 'healthy' (please save me from that word, I want to pluck it from the world and tear it to shreds) queer reading and all others are wrong, dirty, sinful, a fetish... (you see what I'm doing here right?).
I hate ship wars. I hate how puritanical, antiqueer, and misogynistic they always somehow manage to become in the name of championing a queer relationship.

L change the worLd is such a funny light novel that is so close to my heart because nisioisin clearly thinks of L as this melodramatic hero of justice when it's pretty clear he's kind of an apathetic freak. however two things can be true at once.

wangxian is literally just about how intentions are worthless compared to action. we know that lwj loved wwx and that it was his own struggles that stilled his tongue and kept his love hidden carefully beneath his stoic and often disdainful façade, but none of that counts for anything because at the end of the day, he acted as if he hated wwx. he met wwx's eyes with judgement and distrust and he sought to stop wwx and fix him, and so wwx dies thinking lwj hates him. it takes wwx's death and the finality of wwx's rejection and wwx's final gift to him - a young wen boy wwx had called his own, hidden in the burial mounds ... his son - that forces lwj to change.
he grows as a person, not just because of wwx's rejection but because of wwx's influence. his love for wwx had been something that lwj had been forced to contend with for years, but it was the struggle that wwx had introduced into his life that lwj was forced to finally resolve: the lan precepts dictated right from wrong in absolute terms with complete certainty, but isn't there room to question? isn't there a need to understand that the world is not as simple as a list of rules on a wall? aren't people's circumstances unique and don't they require a nuanced approach? can such absolutes actually work in the real world? and so lwj thinks and questions and begins to resolve his own issues, aspiring to truly be the just man that wwx thought lwj to be and to be the just man that wwx himself was.
and then wwx comes back and lwj has grown, he has changed in ways wwx doesn't know and doesn't understand, and the torment that had twisted its way through lwj's veins as a young man have been resolved; he's made his peace and gained understanding. no longer halted by his own struggles, his intentions can be translated to action. no longer does his own shame halt his hand from reaching out to grasp wwx's shoulder, no longer does his judgement of wwx's path stop him from standing by his side, no longer does his fear still his tongue. and so, when wwx teases him and flirts with him, lwj is able to flirt and tease back. and when wwx manages to get over his shock, there's a blooming understanding in his eyes as he stares at lwj.

some people really be comparing aot to dune like stfu yams didn't have the balls to have eren succeed and let the readers come to the conclusion themselves that it was wrong. he had to spoonfeed it by *checks notes* turning his mc into an incel who committed genocide cause 'only ymir knows'. yams was ambitious but he didn't commit so the execution was just fucking sloppy.
also it's so shitty because every character's takeaway of eren after the rumbling was all 'thank you eren for committing mass murder for us. we will make sure your sacrifice does not go to waste'. even fucking reiner
while in dune (messiah), most of the main characters reevaluated their opinion of paul and their cause. was it worth it? paul's legacy is heavy and they will have to carry that burden. it is a tragedy that could have been avoided had they not been blinded by fanaticism or the corrupting influence of colonial powers (bene gesserit, the imperium)

Some Legato thoughts:
He hates humanity, that’s pretty obvious, he wants all humans to die.
But there is this really fascinating disconnect that happens with him sometimes, where you can kind of sort of see the person he could have been peak through, but just barely.
The two most obvious examples of this I can think of is when he shares one of his hot dogs with a child that seemingly didn’t have a reliable access to food and when he frees those enslaved girls. Two things that he really did not have to go out of his way to do, and by all means shouldn’t care for at all considering his hatred for humanity.
But he still did.
And by themselves those seem like very good actions, right?
But then you remember that the hotdog had been kept in a bag with a severed head/tongue, and he wanted to use the kid to spook Vash (but then again he didn’t have to give her food to do that, he could have so easily used his powers to control her, we have seen him do it to entire groups of people with ease).
He violently kills over a dozen people with his powers in front of those slave girls, not because he intended to free them but because the slavers picked a fight with him first (but he spares the girls, none of them are physically harmed at all despite the carnage, and he offers them the closest thing he has to reassurances before he leaves, when he could have just ignored them).
It’s like he almost gets there, but not quite.

alright im still thinking about it. the thing about bruce vs slade in terms of parenting is that they both love their kids and dont know how the express it. but the difference is bruce tries to express it in well-meaning actions that sometimes backfire or come off as cold/untrusting. whereas slade expresses it by attacking & manipulating his kids and oscillating between pushing them away and forcing them to be close to him

RANNI DOESN'T *WANT* RADAHN DEAD WE DO THAT ON OUR OWN WHILE SHE'S SLEEPING!!!
Unless I'm missing some dialogue from Ranni after you learn this.
I mean don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure if you told Ranni beforehand she wouldn't be overly torn up about it and tell you to get his ass, especially given his current state.
(A lot of people that blame Ranni for Radahn's death seem to ignore, for some reason, that Radahn is in a state of constant suffering and wants to die, which is the reason Jerren holds the festival.)

when i was 12 this was the coolest most mindblowing shit ever i was genuinely so obsessed with it I'd read it very day like the bible. I would die for a version of this with the post 3D world content over my country
#i hve vs super mario bros on my switch bc i wanted to chronologically play through the storied hero timeline and i couldnt find a rom#I think it has the same appeal as spid.erverse kinda except instead of multiple different people filling the same role as sp.iderman its#the same guy it's still mario but the changes come from things going differently at certain points in his life do you GET ME!!#LIKE!!!!!!!! MOST OF IT'S DETERMINED BY WHAT HAPPENS IN YOSHIS ISLAND AND THERES ALTERNATIVE PATHS IF HE WINS OR FAILS!!! GAME OVERS HAVE#CONSEQUENCES THAT BRANCH INTO THEIR OWN TIMELINES MARIO CAN END UP WITH DIFFERENT PARENTS ITS SO COOLLLLLL#and i love how each of the major branches has their own theme like “action hero” is the one with all the gameplay-focused#mainline titles “storied hero” is the one with all the M&L rpgs and more plot-heavier stuff and “blue collar hero” is this third one#with all the donkey kong titles and wackier/arcade titles WHERE i might add his design had a blue shirt and red overalls#and the tl builds off of those games into nsmb so i like to hc that he kept his early 80s design well into the later games <-autistic sorry#AND how thetimelines represent how their different backstories have influenced their personalities and thought processes a little like#what happened to mario in the blue collar branch like he either becomes EVILL!!!! and kidnaps donkey kong leading to dkjr or#divorces peach and has a self isolation arc after nsmb2 whats going on w him...#and i LOVE how all of them have a sort of common event where bowser invades the mushroom kingdom and in each timeline its#represented by a different variation of the original super mario bros game with action hero's event being represented by smb itself#which is fitting since thats the branch where mario and luigi ended up with their intended parents and everything went as planned#and i think a general theme here is that the more things go against intention the sillier it gets dont even get me STARTED on the time#travel shenanigans in bottom right which lead into the handheld remakes i love this so much its unreal#i do wish paper mario wasnt explained away as a dream but like thats its whole other world and art style and itd be difficult#to fit it into one of the major branches so i get why it was done. i probably wouldve just given it its own isolated bubble in the corner#at that rate i probably wouldve added so much more shit to the main tl im talking game&watch games i look at this and i see a pitch#for a full feature length autism production you understand

FIGURING SOME SHIT OUT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!
#connecting the dots#unbeatable lightness. you WILL make sense before I go to bed tonight.#I'm making hella progress though. I think I've found some good stuff#currently at 1.2k worth of 'making sense of it' right now#i have a google doc.#i'm just mad that my ethics/philosophy class was the way it was now though#because I LOVE this shit#but the class was so much more focused on the philosophers themselves#and how their ideas applied to specific given situations#and i don't really like that approach honestly#I think it's much more interesting to look at ethics and philosophy in a more introspective manner#and to think of how it affects us in our daily lives#than to aimlessly assign consequentialism vs deontology to a made up person and situation#and like i have no issue with using made up scenarios at all#I think that's actually pretty important to test the limits of any given school of thought. try to find the exceptions#but that's the thing!!! there's always exceptions! So we should be focusing more on how to use all of the ideas in cohesion with eachother#than to just think of them as their own inseparable laws of which you can only use one at a time#because that's... not how it works. on paper? sure. in real situations? no#i can use consequentialism on paper all day long. in real life you need to mix that with intent vs impact#bc it's never just ONE that will determine the morality of an action#i'm rambling now but idk i have a lot of thoughts and no way to organize them into coherence#there's a reason that I always went over word counts in my papers and essays lol#like. how the hell do I explore the intricacies of ANY topic in 600-1k words?#bc there's exceptions and what-ifs!#this is my issue. i overthink everything#and end up on ten tangents about some random side topic that only barely relates#example: me talking about essay word counts on the post where i want to talk about a pokemon episode name ldjhskjfhdj#i have so much to say all the time. is all of it worthwhile? probably not but it's there

the editing shit coming out about spiderverse is so weird and obviously because of the crunch like? Theres no reason to release multiple versions of a movie with like what 2 to 3 minor differences? And dont tell me its because its a multiverse movie it literally already establishes that idea in a 1000 better ways with the different art styles minor differences are going to do shit especially when like??? You might not watch the movie multiple times like i see people being so impressed with this and like people this is just pointless at best because at worst its overworked animators fully animating scenes that should have been deleted because of horrible mismanagement

Writing Morally Gray Characters
Morally gray antagonists and heroes can bring up many interesting questions about your story's theme and plot. Yes, your hero does want to save the world, but resorts to cruel ways of bringing peace?
Being morally gray can also mean that the character is highly goal- oriented and values efficiency and success over anything.
Deceiving Appearances
As is true in real life, a person's intentions aren't always obvious. A character, their title, background or really just how they look might at first indicate they're the hero type but surprise - they're not.
By hiding ulterior motives behind more apparent ones, you can add depth to your morally gray characters. Appearances can be deceiving, and that makes for a juicy read.
Morally Gray vs. Villains
Morally gray characters and villains are not strictly one and the same. Yes, there is overlap-they can be villains-but the distinctions are there nonetheless.
I don't think having a dark past to provide motivations for morally gray characters is too effective. They do intend to harm others, and sometimes, that's just the way they are.
Recognition
Your morally gray character should recognize that their choices can cause harm, intentionally or otherwise.
Although he's willing to risk the chance in his pursuit of knowledge, he does actively recognize that his actions can result in negative consequences. He sometimes acknowledges this before he does something, and sometimes only in hindsight.
Remorse
They must understand and experience remorse. When the consequences of their actions wreck and story world and kills people around her, she would certainly have regrets and even struggle to undo what she did.
The point here is, she won't regret until she has already caused the wreckage.
Redemption
Finally, when even they feel things have gone too far, your morally gray character must seek redemption however that manifests itself in your story.
For all their logic and reasoning, they are not without feeling. They can grow to care for other characters and go out of their way to help them at times, even save their life.
