L change the worLd is such a funny light novel that is so close to my heart because nisioisin clearly thinks of L as this melodramatic hero of justice when it's pretty clear he's kind of an apathetic freak. however two things can be true at once.

#to me L is the epitome of like. intent vs action #he's saving people but also he doesn't feel that strongly about being a Good person #like he solves crimes not because of idealism or a burning desire for justice #but the end result is that people...survive. because of him and his actions #and then you look at light who has the best of intentions and idealism so heavy it splits the world #but also he fucking kills people #their intent and action are reversed and mirrored #they fundamentally understand each other's boredom and ennui and the thrill of the game #but they will always stand in opposition to each other #lawlight #l lawliet
