Prompt 29 - Flirting Under Fire

They were pinned down. The Death Eaters had cornered them. Their intel had been bad, there were so many of them. How did they know? He had no idea how many of their side had made it out, but he and Remus were now barricaded in a back room of the factory. They couldn’t apparate out of there and their only exit was through the door they’d just come through that currently had at least ten Death Eaters trying to break through their defences. 

Sirius looked over at his friend and saw him shaking. His eyes were darting about searching for an escape that didn’t exist. Sirius reached out and grasped Remus’s hand in his. 

“We’re going to be okay,” He put on his best Sirius doesn’t care about the crazy murderers trying to kill them face. It didn’t help, Remus was spiralling. Sirius had to keep trying. 

“When we get out of here,” He started.

“We’re not getting out of here, Sirius,” Remus snapped. 

“Pessimist. When we get out of here, I’m making you pancakes with chocolate chips in them.” He grinned. Remus loved chocolate and pancakes, so why not mix them?

“What for dinner?” Remus had closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down. 

“Oh, no baby, for breakfast.” Sirius grinned at him. 

“You think we’ll be in here this long?” Remus’s breathing had levelled out again, and he opened his worried eyes to look at Sirius. 

“No, sweetheart, first I’m gonna take you to bed.” He winked. 

“Really, Sirius, are you trying to flirt with me while we’re in mortal peril? Sirius, it’s not funny.”

“You’re so pretty when you’re angry,” Sirius batted his eyelashes. 

“Merlin, Sirius, you’re such a pain.” Remus huffed as he shoved Sirius. 

“Oh, Remus do it again,” Sirius wiggled closer, making Remus laugh quietly. It had worked, Remus had calmed down and was thinking clearly again. 

“I know what you were doing, thanks.” Remus said, just as something boomed against the door, making it rattle in its hinges. 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I meant every word I said.” Sirius cooed as he turned to look worriedly at the door. Whoever was out there started shouting and yelling. More bangs sounded but further away. 

“Ha, ha, Sirius,” Remus rolled his eyes. Sirius snapped his head back. 

“I meant it, Remus,” Sirius said honestly. He leaned over and cupped Remus’s face in his hands. “I meant it,” Remus stilled and cupped Sirius’s face. 

“Are you serious?” He asked, wincing after the words came out, knowing exactly what Sirius was about to say. 

“Since the day I was born,” Remus groaned. “But yes, Remus, I am deadly serious.” He closed the gap between them and kissed Remus on his lips, just as the door flew open. 

“Really guys, we’re out here fighting Death Eaters, and you’re in here making out?” James chortled as he stood dramatically in the doorway with smoke billowing behind him like some sort of action hero. 

“What can I say Prongs, watching Moony handle a wand does things to me.” He smirked, feeling extremely cocky. Remus snorted and Sirius kissed him again. “Come on, Moony, I promised you pancakes.” He took Remus’s hand again and led him from the room they’d been trapped in and out into the night to apparate back to Remus’s flat.

It's been a couple weeks since I did a WIP Wednesday (baybeee) but I've got a fun snippet from You Only Live Twice (Another Sadie Blackmoore-Price story. Because I love her.)

Despite their ill-advised tryst a few months ago, they hadn’t gotten back together. John seemed to be waiting for her to make the next move, leaving it in her court, and she’d been too proud, maybe, or too realistic, and she hadn’t called him. She’d been close many times. Wanted to. Had held her finger a fraction of an inch over the call button for minutes at a time, agonizing about it.

Scout had been her voice of reason. It seemed so strange that her daughter was wise enough now to give her advice, in the unfiltered blunt way that was so much like John. “You still want different things. Nothing’s changed, except you think you can’t find someone better now. And that’s not true.”

“Mind if I smoke?” a man stepped out onto the balcony beside her. Tall, slicked back black hair threaded with silver, his suit several steps too informal for the setting, even if it was still a nice suit, cut to conceal the pistols under his arms. Surprising that he got them in, but not alarming either. Sadie was good at assessing threats, and while this man was undoubtedly dangerous, he was probably someone’s bodyguard. No one she needed to worry about.

“Feel free.”

He lit a cigarette and offered it to her, grinning when she shook her head. “Bad habit,” he said. “But hard to quit.”

Sadie hummed noncommittally, crossing her arms, hoping he would get the message that she wasn’t interested in chatting.

Instead, he stepped closer, his dark eyes sweeping over her with interest. “It’s cold. You are not dressed for the weather.”

“Well. I wasn’t anticipating having to hide out here all night. But I’d rather be cold than cause an international incident.” She tipped her head to the side, studying him as openly. He was big, taller than John and a little broader. It might have been the cut of his jacket, but he looked solid through the middle, no lean taper, just thick and strong like a bear. The gold chain around his neck was the only glitter, nestled in the slightly greying chest hair that peeked through a collar that was two buttons undone.

Another step closer. “Is someone bothering you? I can make them disappear.”

Sadie raised her eyebrows. “No need. I made myself disappear.”

“You can’t stay out here all night. You will freeze. If I were a gentleman, I would offer you my coat, but…”

“But then everyone would see that you’re armed?” Sadie asked mildly.

He laughed. “Da. Sharp eyes, Sadie Blackmoore. Many would not notice.”

“Blackmoore-Price, actually,” she said. “It seems you have me at a disadvantage.”

Did a quick search on PDB in order to see how different is Perseus' Personality Type in Greek Mythology Vs. In Clash of the Titans.

Now I understand why people claim that they made him dirty.

probably unpopular take, but I genuinely feel a good part of Theron's charm is that he's not the best spy. to me, a good if not the best spy is one who is completely inhuman-- spies are forced to do things everyday that are unthinkable to the common man. lying to their children. lying to loved ones. lying to everyone who thought they knew them. single-minded in their actions and completely if not utterly a weapon in the shape of a man. i've seen more horrifying iterations of spies that were worse than most monsters on tv. these are the ones that survive and succeed.

theron is not that. he remains halfway between worlds where he stays human, he has a heart that should *not* fit with his line of work and sounds borderline idealistic as pointed out multiple times in-game by more pragmatic souls, but he gets away with it, messy as it is by definition.. that's why he's great. it's because he won't be that spy.

I saw “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” and I got to say the one weak link, in an otherwise enjoyable action movie, is the Villain played by Esai Morales.

He not bad in the role of the nefarious Gabriel… he’s just forgettable.

(Mild spoiler) Early on we’re told that 30 years earlier Gabriel was responsible for making Ethan Hunt (Cruise) an IMF agent. Gabriel killed a woman, Hunt was blamed, and to be released from jail Ethan joined the IMF. Gabriel is essentially Bloefeld to Hunt’s James Bond.

Morales is nice looking, but when he’s on screen, he doesn’t capture your attention. And he has few scenes to develop his character.

In the Bond films, the villains are played by strong, award winning actors like Mads Mikkelsen, Javier Bardem, Christoph Waltz, and Rami Malek. Sure, Morales has made movie too - but he’s best known for television (most recently as Deathstroke on HBO Max’s “Titan”).

While Tom Cruise hasn’t won an Academy Award for his acting - he IS the biggest action star in the world. He needs villain that match him in screen presence.

March 9, 2024. 🫳 Streaming on Max. Wow, hundreds of millions of dollars spent on such a mediocre movie. The only thing of note was Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's performance as Black Manta. Everything else was just "blah". Why can't DC do what Marvel does? Even Marvel's mediocre movies (Quantmania) were better than this.
