‼️ content warning for talking about (necessary, healthy) food restrictions ‼️
Please don’t be rude about somebody’s dietary restrictions.
Sometimes people don’t even notice it in the little comments about how gross vegan food is, how bad for you dairy-free milks are, how everything gluten-free tastes like cardboard…people don’t choose their food intolerances!!!!
I have to use a lot of substitutes for MEDICAL REASONS, and I’ve had people tell me to my face how gross that is. Vegan cheese tastes like glue. Oh, you have to try a gluten free diet? That’s so trendy now, but really you don’t have to. The food is so bland.
I do have to, actually. It’s discouraging to hear how inferior your food is when there’s no other option!!!!! Please try to be considerate of people’s non-negotiable needs.
Also don’t be mean to people who do choose their own dietary specifications, that should go without saying. Be considerate and respectful of what people have to eat!!!
With love, if nobody is practicing unsafe or dangerous eating habits, mind your business ❤️

Anyone have any advice on combatting upset stomach/acid reflux as a side effect of the SSRI Sertraline/Zoloft?

Hey all! Buckle up because episode #104 of our AMA series is about to blow your mind. We're talking about something you might not expect: sodium! We all know salt adds flavor and keeps us hydrated, but there's a whole hidden world to this stuff.
This week, we're joined by Justin Nault, a super cool Certified Nutritional Therapist who specializes in keeping athletes and fitness enthusiasts fueled. He's here to spill the tea (or maybe the electrolytes?) on how sodium can actually help with some surprising things, like fighting inflammation, preventing those awful migraines, and even easing acid reflux.
Justin's gonna break down the science behind how sodium works its magic in our bodies and explain why getting the right amount is key to feeling fantastic. So whether you've been a Clovis Culture devotee for ages or are just joining the party, this episode is packed with info to help you level up your health game.
Want to geek out further? Clovis.show has all the resources, detailed notes, and maybe even some secret bonus content (wink wink). It's a fantastic community where you can connect with like-minded folks and even submit questions for future AMAs.
So grab your favorite snack, salty or sweet, tune in, and let's unlock the hidden power of sodium together! This is gonna be epic!

Well, that happened...
Keeping in line with how the last 8 or so years of my life have gone, I started ramping up to get involved in the community again and almost immediately became incapacitated by health issues for 9 months. The good news is that I had surgery 2 weeks ago and it may have fixed a lot of things (at the very least it should have fixed the more recent problems). Here's hoping I become more functional once I'm out of recovery! I really miss this corner of the internet, and the progress the community has made since I was last active is incredible. There's so much more going on and it seems like people can actually talk freely about stuff without the crushing amount of gatekeeping and outside mockery that used to be a constant.
#I am very tired and on a limited soft food diet for up to 6 weeks until I can swallow normally again but my diaphragm has stopped spasming!!#turns out if your stomach is in there you can't breathe properly. so now that's back where it belongs and also a different shape#did they approve surgery because of the spasms you ask? of course not. they had to prove I had severe unmanageable acid reflux first#my surgeon literally went 'I am not sure the diaphragm spasms are related' MY DUDE THERES AN ORGAN IN THERE OF COURSE THEY ARE#anyway hiatal hernias are a bitch don't get one#personal

if anyone who struggles to eat because of digestive issues has words of advice on how to eat more (*for the purpose of having energy + gaining weight), i'd love to hear them.
i have weird yet mild (undiagnosed?) stomach issues, probably due to the small hiatal hernia my GI found. 90% of what i eat triggers the symptoms- my best guess is that physically filling food is the common factor. other than that, my symptoms are basically just acid reflux and the effects of having it chronically for ~9 months 24/7.
im on medication, which lessens most of it, and lemon honey tea has helps. surprisingly, i can eat cherry tomatoes by the handful and the last time i had a banana it was awful and triggering. so if your advice can be found on the first page of a 'foods for acid reflux' google search, uh, no thanks lol.
i also have adhd and an inconsistent taste palate, so im hesitant to start any structured diet or to plan meals days in advance. (but its not completely off the table)
#medical advice#medical talk#digestive issues#digestive problems#digestive disorders#hiatal hernia#i know tumblr isn't a doctor but my next appt is some time away#and if youve followed this blog you know i dont 100% trust doctors lmao#i just want to hear whats worked for others like me#i feel pretty alone right now because all this#acid reflux#gerd treatment#actually disabled#actually adhd#actually autistic#actually audhd#weight gain diet#IFUCKINGHATEDIETCULTURE#coughs. anyway.

The thing about my depressive episodes is that they sneak in so quietly and by the time I realize it, I'm in the deep that it's all like FUUUUUUUUUCK. And it's a bitch trying to get out
And it snuck in real good this time with all my dental work, Stardew Valley 1.6 update, dead dad day (aka the anniversary of my dad's death), and The Tortured Poets Department (which should've been a depression red flag because it became my instant favorite after the first listen 😂).
So now I'm back clawing my way out of this depression hellhole with trying to get my exercise and diet back on track because those got out of whack.
#personal#depression is a bitch#i legit went from 4-5 day yoga practice to maybe 2 if i was lucky#but i need to get back on my diet because i managed to fix my acid reflux that was becoming a big problem by eating more fiber

Good morning to every organ in my body except my stomach. Get your shit together
#went to a pediatrician for 5+ years for stomach issues and was on a medicine for 3+ of those years that sucked the calcium from my bones#just to try to help stop the pain only for her (very kind dr. btw) to really have no idea what was going on and just said it hurt-#when I was stressed (which is very logical for me) but it's such a weird issue#I was tested for celiac disease (which my sister has) but that wasn't it and if I get a small stomach virus it kicks the pain back up-#for weeks before settling back down. I can't have energy drinks anymore because the high amount of caffeine-#makes it feel like I've been punched in the stomach & I'm also cutting down on or completely cutting out red meat in my daily diet because-#my stomach doesn't seem to process it well and my stomach is already highly sensitive to greasy foods#the weekly stomach pain returned months ago and I'm getting real tired of it sometimes the acid reflux medicine doesn't even help either#and I've had symptoms of a stomach ulcer on and off but a lot more recently in the past year or two but I never got scoped to check for one#so now I have to go to my current doctor and talk with her and hopefully I'll get scoped but who knows I don't think it's an ulcer though#my stomach hurt while writing this it knows I'm talking shit lol#personal

The way that I have stomach acid choking me and burning me from the inside out WHILE SLEEPING SITTING UP rn is so extraordinarily gravity-defying it would be fascinating if it wasn’t such a cruel joke of being 😃‼️
#gerd#acid reflux#cw emetophobia#GERDposting#counting the days til my gastric emptying test (first of what I’m assuming will be several tests)#lowkey tho it IS fascinating bc he took me off the H2 blocker and upped the omeprazole ‘to see if that helps’ (spoiler: I know it won’t)#(but I have to play the game and so does he tbh I think he probs expects it to not work)#and now the acidity seems higher than it was when I was taking the cimetidine..but also it could be diet related or some other factor?
