like if spn were a show not written by american liberals enamoured with the trappings of conservativism. it might've been better at delivering its core thematic: that the perpetual fear of a monstrous Other just further isolates the nuclear family, only pushes them deeper into reactive violence against any perceived external threat. but also, the flipside of that unquenching fear over monsters encroaching on the family home - means the doubling down on abusive violence within your home. the father must double down on rigid control over his family, in case someone lets that monstrosity in. in case that monstrosity already exists within your family. there's no room for tolerance when only the fear over what you might lose is the most powerful thing in the room.

I like when the Doctor does horrible things

I like to see the companion's face when they realise that they're amazing, whimsical, fantastic new best friend has killed more people than they will ever meet

I like the way they stare. I like the horror and the confusion. I like the "this isn't who you are!" and I like the sad look the Doctor gives them because this is exactly who he is. this is who he's been for a very, very long time.

and I like when the Doctor listens. when the Doctor stops and does something else and chooses mercy, even if it is not a mercy anyone else would recognise. I like when the Doctor says "maybe this isn't who I have to be"

and I like the after. I like the companion standing next to the Doctor, and understanding for the first time that he is drenched in blood. that he is the monster people (not humans, never humans, but many others) warn their children about at night. that his name strikes fear into the hearts of dictators and warriors and murderers. that he is an extinction event.

I like when the companion realises exactly who they're travelling with. and I like when they travel with him anyway. and I like when someone who could have been a companion leaves because they cannot see again

I like when the Doctor carries so much power the stars seem to quake in fear. that his name (or title or epithet) holds so much authority that, once said, nothing said previously matters. I like when he is a monster and I like when the companion first sees it and how nothing is the same after

and I am convinced that if the 13th and 15th doctors had been white men, they would've gotten one of these moments

Caretaker who is a part of a group of assassins, or maybe another armed group. They have a mission and go with a partner to get a target. Caretaker's partner insists on it despiste Caretaker not wanting to, and they take an opportunitg where the target's family is involved. The target's child and spouse... On the end, they end up traumatizing a child and possibly killing/hurting the spouse and killing the target. Caretaker then rebels against their partner because what they did was WRONG and now they ran away--quit the group--and took the child, Whumpee, under their wing.

"I did not want to do that".

Whumpee looks up at them, their eyes bloodshot and filled with rage.

"It was a simple decision for you, wasn't it? Destroy someone's life or no. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, would it?" Their voice was filled with sarcasm.

Caretaker couldn't bear to look at them.

"I'm-I'm sorry."

Whumpee looked away and didn't spoke to then for the rest of the night.

Hey can we talk about how megatron has a fusion canon in most continuities? Okay so, question, What exactly is it fusing?? Is it nuclear fusion??? HAS HE BEEN IRRADIATING EVERYONE???? Pretty sure cybertronians aren’t affected by radiation, at least not by small amounts like humans, so is he even aware of what he’s doing or is it considered not a big deal??

This question goes DOUBLE for earthspark megatron considering he spends lots of time around humans and actually, Y’know, cares about them. Like I’m aware that no matter what the answer is space crack tfp Megatron wouldn’t give a shit but this one is actually trying to be a good person soooo.

I’m a little concerned for dot and the kids 😭 I mean would he even know he’s potentially harming them?
