What's your opinion on Peach's movie voice?

Well... How to put this... She sounds- nice (as in reasonably kind and well spoken), but something about it feels... a little off to me. I mean, to be fair, the lower and firmer pitch does match the more combative and strategic temper that she will have in the movie (which in itself isn't a bad thing per say), but I would be flat out lying if I said I prefer this over the genuinely soft, gentle, more delicate and innocent side of her we see in most games.🚶‍♀️The higher and sweeter tone has always been so distinctive of the character, I kinda wish we had gotten something a bit closer to that sense of familiarity and recognition. 🙇‍♀️

Granted, Peach's character has varied quite a bit in some versions, and this is all very personal to each, of course... But for me, the ideal portrayal is one whose manners would be admiringly polite and her attitude disarmingly compassionate. A princess who wouldn't physically fight, but could win over almost any enemy with her words alone. The very picture of enduring hopefulness, loveliness and empathy.

I miss these types of female characters tbh. Those who don't need to pick up an actual weapon or to know their way around a battlefield to be strong, brave and resilient in their own unique way. Those who go through other sorts of battles and aren't any less capable or deserving of respect because of it. Those whose biggest strength is the size of their heart and the depth of their soul. 💖

With all this considered, I wouldn't say I'm disappointed or anything, but rather- pensive. 🤔💁‍♀️

Simon -Ghost- Riley...

"(...) Ghost’s real name is Simon Riley and he grew in Manchester, England and he grew up a really bad childhood. His brother was really mean to him and always would wear a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Simon’s father was really abusive towards Simon and often made him do really screwed up things. Apparently Ghost was a apprentice butcher at a grocery store but joined the military due to the 9/11 attacks. He eventually joined the SAS. However, when returning home a few years later, he found his brother and mother in really bad conditions. The brother took drugs and kept stealing from his mom to keep having the drugs. Simon didn’t return to the military until he had changed and helped his family get back on their feet. Simon got them back to good and his brother had a wife and kid. Now here’s the really messed up parts. Simon was tasked with taking down the Zaragoza Drug Cartel who was ran by Manuel Roba. He and his team were going to make a move on them until the team’s commanding officer, Vernon, betrayed and ratted out the team. Simon and his team were tortured in brainwashing facilities for months. Vernon couldn’t break Simon and ended up ordered to die by Roba. Simon was buried alive with Vernon and broke out with Vernon’s jawbone due to Vernon’s rotting corpse. Simon ended up crossing the border to Texas and got healed from injuries but suffered from temper-management issues which didn’t allow him to return back to active duty. He later met up with two of his former teammates, Sparks and Washington but he found out that they were both broken and brainwashed by Roba. He ended up trying to kill Sparks but Washington interfered. He returned to his home to find his mother and his brother and his family all dead. He killed Sparks and Washington and then went on his journey to find and kill Roba. He worked solo and killed Roba and his men and ended up being recruited by General Shepard to join Task Force 141."

Sorry weird personal post but.

(putting it under the cut, I always feel a little bit weird and like... not legitimate? but like, why, anyway)

As I thought about the gerudos and also after a conversation I had about worldwide repression of brazilian soft power and its impact on western culture during the 90s, I'm just... I realized one of the reasons why I latched onto the gerudos so hard when I was young, even though it's kiiiind of a stretch culturally speaking and they look nothing like me, is because there was basically *nothing else* in terms of non-western representation in American/European pop culture at the time (especially not featuring cool girls). If you loved fantasy and videogames and wanted to see any non-western representation to spark your imagination, there was literally so little choice. And honestly, as far as Brazil goes (and a lot of South American cultures overall I'd say), there's still almost nothing that holds in the West.

It kind of sucks to realize it was something I really craved growing up and uhhh kind of never got.

Just thinking of the impact of going from Nicholas Gwen to Nicholas Benedict.

This barely adult boy who hesitates to change his family name because the only thing he ever shared with those people was his name, and would they still accept him as part of his family.

Maybe it was more like dropping your abuser's name, becoming one with yourself and detaching all of your achievments from their influence, symbolically ?

He wondered if his brother would understand it, taking his old name back. The two of them united by a name, even if they were separated. Changing his name as a message to his brother: See, you are always art of my identity, i have not forgotten you, it is you and me against the world. In the end, I choose you.

Did he get used to it immediately, introducing himself as Nicholas Benedict without hesitation, or did it take longer, stumbling a bit, the word starting to come out as Gwen before he'd rapidly correct himself ?

The excitement of seeing his full name on the papers and the relief almost brought him to tears. That feeling that it is real; that he is Nicholas Benedict and not anyone else.

When people asked why he changed his name, he would evade the question with broad generalities that seemingly answered the question without ever really letting anyone else in.

(years later, he probably opens up about it a bit more with the adults, at about the same time he tells them about the adoption. about changing his name and what it meant, about having to find who Nicholas Benedict was.)

It took some time, figuring out who Nicholas Benedict was. He had some ideas of who he was as a Gwen, but being a Benedict was new terrain; a new name for a new life. A glimpse of hope in itself.

The exhilaration of the new name never really wore off, and he still has this warm feeling when he hears the children calling him Mr.Benedict.

Reflexion’s I’ll Find You performed averagely for the group, with fans hoping it’s enough to keep Liberty from punishing them in the new year

Sola’s Obsession performed adequately, and while was not as big of a hit as past songs, was acceptable considering her scandals of the past year

Rejectz’s Luv U topped charts, and was praised for being an unconventional hit

Coven’s LIE topped all 8 charts, knocking Rejectz out of top positions they might have otherwise claimed

Sookie’s Weather charted very well, but not as well as it otherwise might have had Rejectz not so recently been on the charts as well, with much of the fandom focusing on the streams of the full group release

Violetta’s Can We Talk Again did not perform as strongly as some of their past releases, but resonated well with trot crowds and casual listeners, giving it a strong chart presence regardless

Byulbit : Lyncis’ 3 2 1 topped charts in Thailand, notably knocking Sumi’s former group, Daizee, from a record-breaking chart run, leading to hate from Daizee fans

Seyeon’s No Jam did adequately on charts, but was a big hit on TikTok, and became the theme song for a new variety show debuting in January

Juno’s Dr Bebe joined Rejectz and Coven at the top of the charts

Rewind’s Christmasssy was a big hit with elementary and middle school demographics, which boosted its’ numbers largely

Sera’s Baby I Hate Me Now did not perform as expected on the charts, but captivated international audiences, and did exceedingly well on Spotify

You know, we were teached that this marvelous yet strange thing is blind respect and admiration, generaly towards a deity. It is wrong.

So, you may ask, what is devotion? It is defying who you love to be better, to reach their whole potential and to stay with them even when they push you away.

So no, my dear, devotion is not a religious trate, but unconditional love. You will know this better once you find someone you know in your bones that can be better, and as such, you push, companion and defy them to be.

That is devotion, no less.
