Introducing James William Gilmore Danes

(aka what if Dani Gilmore-Danes were a boy and raised by Luke)

a year before Rory was born, Lorelai had a son with a boy she'd met on a family beach vacation. She'd left before she knew she was pregnant, but still had his name and phone number written on a postcard. When she found out that she was pregnant, she panicked. She and her parents came to an agreement, they would tell everyone that she was spending a year abroad, she would give the baby up for adoption, and it would be like nothing ever happened.

But then her son was born, a son she couldn't stand to look at or even name, but a son she couldn't just give away to strangers. Instead she took him, left him on the doorstep of Williams Hardware in Stars Hollow with a note, and never looked back. Until two years later, when she moved to Stars Hollow with Rory

James William Danes (named after Jim Kirk, not that Luke will ever admit it) was a happy baby, but a sick one. Some lung issues, frequent pneumonia, health problems that Luke would always blame on him having been left outside, on a doorstep, during the first snow of the year. It was hard to get him the help that he needed, but William Danes was always happy to help his son and grandson as best as he could, and they were making ends meet. Until James was five. William had just died, and while Luke was doing everything he could to take care of funeral arrangements and the hardware store, he'd asked Liz to help with James. Only for her to leave James in a car during a blizzard for several hours.

The fact that James survived was nothing short of a miracle, but it was an expensive miracle, one that Luke couldn't afford. And it was either a miracle or incredibly creepy that at the same time as his son was fighting for his life in a hospital room, James' maternal grandparents showed up. They'd found the postcard in their daughter's room, apparently, and they wanted to know if their grandson was okay.

It was impossible for Luke to swallow his pride and let Emily and Richard help with the medical bills, but he couldn't refuse the help either, so they struck a deal. The Gilmores would cover all of James medical expenses, not only current ones but any future ones as well, and once a month, Luke and James would call and tell them about his life. He'd never seen them face to face, didn't even know their last names, but he knew that they loved him, and he loved them.

It was a system that worked, and James grew up healthy (for the most part), very athletic, and very loved. He was considered a bit of a prince charming around town, attractive and popular and always ready to lend a helping hand – whether it be at his dad's diner, town events, or anything else anyone asked for. Life was good.

Until he went to Rory Gilmore's sixteenth birthday party – Lorelai had always been cold to him and normally he would avoid spending more time around her than necessary, but Luke asked for his help bringing over bags of ice. But it was fine, really. Until, out of absolutely nowhere, he heard his grandmother's voice in the doorway. His grandmother, whom he had never met in person. His grandmother, who was there for her granddaughter's sixteenth birthday. His grandmother: Lorelai Gilmore's mother.

thinking about james teaching regulus how to swim after the cave

reg is terrified and won't top clinging to him and james doesn't mind, he's perfectly patient, taking regulus out to swim in the river by effie and monty's every single day that the water's warm enough and then to the local muggle pool to teach him

eventually regulus gets to be a pretty strong swimmer and actually enjoys swimming, but sometimes he still panics and james ends up pulling reg around with him again

sometimes regulus just holds onto james and james will be jumping around and swimming fast just to make reg laugh

and then after they dry off james wraps him in a fluffy blanket and tells him how well he did (even if he got water in his nose and ended up panicking and almost drowning james)

Good god ep18 s6. House dealing (god-awfully .Full disclosure. The episode opens with house drinking himself half to death with zero regard for himself to the point of unintentionally breaking into his neighbours house and passing out there) with wilson getting back together with his ex-wife while the patient of the episode grapples with his possibly reciprocated love for the woman he loves but cannot Have because she's engaged to be wed with his friend.......... Thirteen egging the patient on to tell her how he really feels but he genuinely Cant Bring Himself To because "my friend's a great guy . He's rich, smart, and he'll treat her well. Me-- I'd do everything I could for her. But it wouldn't be much. And she... she deserves the best." And the episode ends with house resignedly throwing away the sealed envelope that held all the dirt he hired lucas to get on wilson's ex wife to try and break them upOhhhhhhhh oh. OHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ouhhhhhhh. Ouhhhhh the acknowledgement that house would do everything & anything & more for wilson Give .all of himself To Wilson and it still wouldn't be enough because house is House. Its the foundation of his entire self that would bring everything else down with it if it were to crumble. The face that wilson has spent his entire Life honing and sculpting and perfecting to present as the Perfect Hardworking American Man and Son. The perfect husband and treasured son with his own big shiny department and a stainless-white doctor's coat and the Exact Man a woman would Need

What is wilson. who is he What is left of him if he is not needed by a woman; not needed nor wanted any longer by the world he's lived his entire life by to please. What is James Wilson if not what everyone else expects him to be

House is the antithesis to all of that. A man rough and abrasive as sandpaper who makes wilson selfish makes him emotional and stupid. Who encourages wilson to lash out and fight and get angry and stand up for himself and be the exact opposite of what he's worked his entire life to be. Instead of accepting and taking wilson's painstakingly pedantically constructed facade at face value House fucking. Crashes through the walls with a bulldozer. Snatches the mask right off of wilson's face and dangles it over his head goading wilson to go ahead; try and get it back

Wilson is so deathly terrified at the idea of breaking out of the norms he himself has walled himself into-- he can't Bear to think of any other future for himself that is anything other than wholly and completely unnoticeable average monotonous unextraordinary

and House is the exact opposite of unnoticeable average monotonous unextraordinary. House is the apple of Eden that rests on the other side of wilson's pristine-white picket fence. The object of Wilson's every true desire that simultaneously threatens to doom and tear down everything wilson regards protects worships as the one untouchable unquestionable unchangeable truth of his life

House loses before it even starts. No one can compete with that; not even house. By nature, house can never be what wilson needs. What wilson truly desires or wants or needs is another subject entirely, something im genuinely not sure wilson could even grapple with, let alone come to terms with canonically. I fully believe wilson and house are the loves of each other's lives but house will never be what wilson "needs" or "wants" no matter what he does or changes about himself. They love each other more than anything and they want each other and they cant live without each other but House-- intrensically, by nature-- cannot be what Wilson wants.

At this point I feel like the common denominator for my fictional crushes is actually just "people with cool ships"😂

I have a total of 15 romantic f/os on my list as of now (counting mains and secondaries/crushes), and there's already 4 of them who hold the title "Admiral", or at least did so at some point in their life.

Thrawn, who even becomes a Grand Admiral later on, commands the Imperial-class star destroyer Chimaera (plus he is also in command over the entire 7th Fleet). Ar'alani, who has the heavy cruiser Steadfast. Piett, who reaches the rank of Fleet Admiral later, commands the Executor-class super star destroyer Executor - this ship is fuckin 19km long I kid you not - (plus he is second in command next to Darth Vader over the Death Squadron). And finally Norrington, who commands the lineship Dauntless (I know he used to command other ships too but I think the Dauntless could count the most as "his" ship even though he was still commodore back then).

Not taking a specific rank it's even more than twice the number: of course Captain Barbossa (who captained both the Black Pearl and later also the Queen Anne's Revenge) and Captain Davy Jones (with the infamous Flying Dutchman), but also Commodore Karyn Faro (even though she served as Thrawn's second in command aboard the Chimaera for the most part of her story and didn't have her "own" ship, she was supposed to take over command of the 11th Fleet when she got promoted - possibly a promotion to admiral would have followed eventually as well, however it's unclear if she was able to depart to her new station before the battle of Lothal and what her further fate was). I'm also counting General Grievous and Lieutenant Lyste in because even though it wasn't always the only thing they did, commanding a ship was an important aspect in their respective careers at some point (for example when Grievous commanded the Malevolence).

So, somehow almost two thirds of my entire f/o list happen to be people who command ships, and I don't quite know what to make of that xD
