I stayed at the Fort Gary Hotel in Winnipeg that is rumored to be haunted! Multiple times. But one time, I did a Ouija with friends there.
When I showered that morning, the curtain moved like 3 times without anything touching it or any reason. Scared the shit outta me.
I have never been in a haunted building!
I should definitely go into a haunted building someday.
There’s this one house where I live that looks like it could be haunted, but isn’t. Just a regular house. This made me wanna do a lot of research on haunted buildings, mainly in Canada.

weird storytime and an abed analysis (abednalysis ?)
in s1e17, physical education, abed says that he didnt mind changing for other people because hes comfortable with who he is . a season later, in s2e19, critical film studies, he says instead that he doesnt like change . and now i realize what he really meant when he said that he didnt mind changing .
when i was younger, around 11-12, i would pretend to be other people online . more than five different separate identities in one discord server . because i wanted people to like me more . i made these alt accounts and assigned each one a personality, a different typing style, a reason for joining, a region, and a timezone . and for the most part, they were people who were nicer and just generally likeable . because im not someone who is any of those things . i am not a nice person . i dont even think im a good person . and god i am not likeable . at all .
so i played these characters . most of them only being active for short periods . i would have full back and forth conversations with these alt accounts to sell it . i had these weird insane elaborate plans . a 16 year old former drug user, lives in manitoba, somewhat parental . 13, california, liked minecraft and drawing -- completely different artstyle (and different software) too . etc .
i would let these accounts bake (make them and then not use them) so that it didnt seem suspicious with a brand new account joining the server . then i would spend a week making the account and forming a character to go with it, sometimes asking people to help me out . it was so fucking crazy . i was insane . might still be .
…yeah i probably still am .
i was such a better person on those different accounts . because i didnt know how to change on the inside, i just started over and over again . different account, new me . like i was experimenting with who i really wanted to be like . formulating the perfect person to act like when i finally decided that i wanted to become a better person .
i gave up eventually obviously . im not a tween anymore . i was a really weird tween . obviously . but i think about it a lot .
honestly i only went back to being myself because it was comfortable . i felt better being a fucking douche . and i still am a douche . im not a good person . i dont think ill ever be a "good person" . what the hell is a good person, anyways . all i know is that im fine with myself like this . even as much as i not-so-secretly hate myself, and deny it out of fear of seeming like an "edgy attention seeking loser" .
its not that abed doesnt mind change, he just doesnt mind changing the persona . he doesnt mind changing the person showing on the outside . a separate identity . but ultimately, he wouldnt ever fundamentally change as a person . because hes fine with who he is, even if other people might not like him for that . and i want to be like him . i want to be someone who is fine with who they are, even if that someone is a socially inept ass who learned tenth grade math at age ten but cant figure out when their own face is making a smile or not .
#shui talks#nbc community#community nbc#community tv#abed nadir#jeff winger#this is such a jeff post dude .#this is like#shui posts that are basically just shit jeff would probably say and do . part idk how many but probably a lot .#theres that thing jeff said#about slater and britta#how slater makes him feel like how he feels when he writes his new years resolutions; the guy he wants to be#and britta makes him feel like the guy weeks after that; the guy he really is#abed is my slater#and jeff is my britta#ultimately . im just jeff#hes my community parallel#but i guess because of this i kin abed#abed is god . truly#sorry i dont know what my point really was with this post ??? i just wanted to share this weird life experience#and also because ive been rewatching community and this episode really just struck a chord . in a good way ? i think ?#gave me a moment to think#i kind of pass over with how annie was in mixology certification except annie only did the fake identity thing once#and according to troy abed does that like every week#which is basically what i was doing#man i was really fucking weird . what the hell#i got bullied in school if you couldnt tell

Hot take
I think Mal wasn’t exaggerating when he was talking about being the original
So my theory is that Mal WAS the “core” when they were born, he was the first personality to form but his parents weren’t the biggest fan of his “attitude” so through whatever trauma that inspired he ended up splitting Mike in his brain’s attempt to appease them and make the ab*se stop. Whether or not it worked is up to you and your headcanons, and I agree with most of the other popular ones (Vito formed from s*xual trauma, Chester formed from a loved one’s passing, Manitoba and possibly Svetlana are fictives, Mal is a persecutor and probably ageslides) I’ve just been thinking about that bit
#td mike#td Mal#total drama#td roti#td Svetlana#td chester#td vito#td manitoba#and just to clarify#I call Mal a persecutor#but that label isn’t inherently negative#it just means an alter trying to protect themselves/the body/the system#in potentially harmful ways yeah#and they should be held accountable when they hurt people#but I’m not meaning it to villainize persecutors or Mal#also fuck it more total drama on main

Sorry if this is a really annoying way to do this, I’m still a little new to tumblr and I’m not sure what’s the best way to go about this, but I saw the question from the Ukrainian Diaspora person and since I’m from it as well I thought I could maybe help.
(Note: a lot of this is from a Canadian lens, but a lot of it should apply to the states and maybe to other commonwealth countries to some extent)
So if you live in a town or city, my first go to would be to look for dance groups. This is definitely true in Canada, and I’m pretty sure true in the US: dance is at the centre of most of the diaspora culture here. Nearly every event will have performers, if they aren’t hosted by dance companies themselves, and it is the opinion of many older Ukrainian Canadians that dance is the most important thing here (there’s a long thing about diaspora history and trauma in there but that’s for later). Even if you don’t want to/can’t join a group, you can keep an eye out for zabavas to go to, especially around malanka (side note: the North American diaspora has a type of Kolomeyka that I believe is unique to us and originated in the Canadian Prairies, which is at most parties and Ukrainian events)
There’s also Ukrainian churches, which of course will have a number of Ukrainians, but if you’re not Christian maybe not a good choice
Ukrainian diaspora members are pretty obsessive about preservation and recording stuff, so anywhere there’s a population there’s a decent chance at a museum and a number of them have online portions. If you look up Ukrainian museum (insert country/region) stuff should come up, but for specific recommendations: the Ukrainian Village in Edmonton, AB is an open air museum detailing life of early Ukrainian Canadian settlers, and has some online tours, there’s the Ukrainian Museum of America and Canada respectively, and the University of Alberta has the Kule Folklore centre and the Bohdan Medwidsky archives.
On the topic of the University of Alberta, it at one point had one of the largest Slavic studies programs in North America, rivalling Harvard’s, and I would argue unlike others is Ukrainian centric rather than R*sso centric. It along with the University of Manitoba and Saskatchewan has a number of Ukrainian and Ukrainian diaspora resources (I’ll try putting some links at the end)
I found music to be a good way to connect with my heritage, especially folk songs. If you look up Ukrainian Folk Songs on YouTube you’ll get a lot to explore, but I’m sure that the Ukrainians here on tumblr can plug in a lot of people to check out
Finally, see if you can look into any Ukrainian political organizations in your area. In Canada we have the Ukrainian Canadian Congress as a sort of political representative for Ukrainian Canadians, but there’s other as well such as the Ukrainian Student Society in many universities. I’m not sure what the equivalents are in the states. There’s also scouting organizations such as Plast and SUSK, but I have no experience with them
As promised, links

I’m sorry that my adding that personal identifier to your feel good post because I personally am from the Canadian (not American) prairies has hurt your feelings. My comment wasn’t trying to take anything away from your thoughts on Kansas. The sentiment and spirit of the post made me nostalgic and I wanted to share your love and appreciation for the variety of prairie experiences. Perhaps I should have added “too” or something to my comment to be more clear, but it was the middle of the night, I was tired, and it never occurred to me that my words were offensive.
Waking up to this message was surprising, I’ll admit. I have a few thoughts in response, in no particular order:
- Are you bothered because I added to the body of the post not just putting it in the hashtags? Because I’m genuinely confused about why it’s upset you so much.
- Technically the “actual proper all-encompassing term for the continent” is North America, but the continent contains three distinctly different countries. (And there is also Central and South America to consider.) Colloquially the world has settled on using the terms “America” and “American” to apply specifically to the middle country of The United States of America and the people there, so using “American” does imply that you were referring just to the USA.
- Canadian and American prairies are not the same. Both physically and culturally. This continent is huge — so even one end of one Canadian prairie province can be noticeably different than the other end. Kansas and Alberta are approximately 2,300 km and more than 10 degrees latitude away from each other. (And I think a different time zone too.) They may look similar at a glance but they have different climates, weather, growing seasons, native plants, etc. (e.g. it is ~5-8C in AB as I write this, and 20C in Topeka). Implying that Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba are the same prairies as Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas (and everything in between) is an inaccurate generalization.
I apologize again that I was unintentionally stepping on your toes (I was attempting brevity instead of over-explaining but that clearly backfired) with my reblog. I will do my best to be more careful with my words on here in the future. I’ll be honest though, your response felt a little out of proportion and kinda condescending — which I hope was not your intent.
If you’d like to compare notes (celebrate/commiserate) about prairie life, and all the differences and similarities between our two grasslands, I’d love that. (People where I live now just don’t understand what it’s like to have so much sky above you all the time.)
If not, I understand and hope your day gets better.
hey are you the american prairies the way that people who don't know you make uncharitable generalizations and assume there's nothing of interest but people who do know you think you're beautiful and unique and defend you fiercely and consider you a vital part of the world

How to Send a Letter to Canada from the USA With Correct Address Format?
Sending a letter to Canada from the USA is a straightforward process, but it requires attention to detail, especially when it comes to ensuring the correct address format. A properly formatted address helps to avoid delays and ensure that your letter reaches its destination in a timely manner. In this article, we will discuss step-by-step how to send a letter to Canada from the USA with the correct address format, including postal requirements, postage rates, and useful tips to ensure a smooth delivery process.
Understanding the Address Format
Canada has its own unique address format that differs slightly from the USA’s. Familiarizing yourself with the Canadian address format is essential for the successful delivery of your letter. The format typically follows this order:
Recipient's Name
Street Address
City
Province (Abbreviation)
Postal Code
Country
Let’s break this down:
Recipient’s Name: Start with the name of the person or business to whom you’re sending the letter. Use formal titles like Mr., Mrs., Ms., or Dr. if applicable. If it’s being sent to a business, include the department name or attention line if necessary.
Example: Ms. Jane Doe ABC Company, Accounts Department
Street Address: The next line should include the recipient’s street address. This includes the street number, street name, and any apartment or unit number if applicable. Avoid abbreviations and ensure accuracy in street names and numbers.
Example: 1234 Maple Avenue, Suite 567
City: The city name should be written on the next line. Make sure to spell out the city name fully and accurately. Canadian cities are diverse, so it’s essential to double-check the correct spelling.
Example: Toronto
Province (Abbreviation): In Canada, provinces and territories are used in the address. Each province has a standardized two-letter abbreviation, which should be written in capital letters. Here is a list of Canadian province and territory abbreviations:
Alberta - AB
British Columbia - BC
Manitoba - MB
New Brunswick - NB
Newfoundland and Labrador - NL
Northwest Territories - NT
Nova Scotia - NS
Nunavut - NU
Ontario - ON
Prince Edward Island - PE
Quebec - QC
Saskatchewan - SK
Yukon - YT
Example: ON (for Ontario)
Postal Code: The Canadian postal code is a six-character alphanumeric code with a space separating the third and fourth characters. It follows the pattern of "A1A 1A1" where letters and numbers alternate. It’s vital to include the correct postal code for your recipient’s address, as this ensures the accurate routing of the mail. Postal codes are crucial in the mail-sorting process.
Example: M5H 2N2
Country: Since you are sending the letter internationally from the USA to Canada, you must write the destination country on the last line. Write “Canada” in capital letters.
Example: CANADA
Sample Address Format
To put everything together, here’s an example of how the final address should look on your letter:
Ms. Jane Doe 1234 Maple Avenue, Suite 567 Toronto, ON M5H 2N2 CANADA
Postal Services and Rates
When sending a letter from the USA to Canada, you need to ensure that you are using the appropriate postal service and applying the correct amount of postage.
Postal Services Available: The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides a variety of services for sending letters internationally, including to Canada. These services include:
First-Class Mail International: This is the most common and affordable option for sending letters and postcards. Delivery times typically range from 5 to 10 business days.
Priority Mail International: This service is faster and provides delivery within 6 to 10 business days. It also includes tracking and insurance up to $200.
Priority Mail Express International: The fastest service, delivering mail within 3 to 5 business days. It includes tracking and insurance up to $100.
Depending on how urgently your letter needs to reach Canada, you can choose the service that best meets your needs.
Postage Rates: As of 2024, the cost of sending a First-Class Mail International letter from the USA to Canada starts at around $1.50 for a 1-ounce letter. The price increases as the weight of the letter increases. For heavier letters or additional services such as insurance or tracking, the postage rates will be higher. Always check with the USPS website or your local post office for the most up-to-date pricing.

Flower plantings promote insect pollinator abundance and wild bee richness in Canadian agricultural landscapes
Published: 28 April 2022 Journal of Insect Conservation Stephen G. Van Drunen, Jessica E. Linton, Gregory Kuwahara & D. Ryan Norris
[Image] Change in abundance (A) and richness (B) between years per group.
Abundance is number of individuals while richness is number of genera for wild bees and otherwise the number of taxonomic families for insect guilds. Points represent each plot’s abundance or richness in each year, with lines connecting each plot’s points to help visualize the direction of change between years per plot. Point shape and line color represents province (AB = Alberta, MB = Manitoba, SK = Saskatchewan). Points are jittered on the x-axis to improve readability

Simplifying Due Diligence: The Importance of MB VIN Checks and AB Land Title Searches
In the intricate world of property transactions and automotive dealings, conducting thorough due diligence is non-negotiable. Whether you're a prospective buyer, seller, or lender, understanding the nuances of Manitoba (MB) VIN checks and Alberta (AB) land title searches is essential for making informed decisions and mitigating risks.
Manitoba's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) check serves as a cornerstone in the automotive sector, offering invaluable insights into a vehicle's history, ownership, and potential liabilities. As a prospective buyer, obtaining a comprehensive MB VIN check ensures transparency and peace of mind in your vehicle purchase. By verifying crucial details such as vehicle registration, liens, salvage history, and odometer readings, you can make confident and informed decisions, safeguarding yourself against undisclosed damage or fraudulent transactions.
Similarly, in the realm of real estate transactions, Alberta's land title search plays a pivotal role in ensuring transparency and security. Conducting an AB land title search enables buyers, sellers, and lenders to access crucial information regarding property ownership, encumbrances, and legal interests. Whether you're purchasing a residential property, commercial real estate, or agricultural land, a thorough land title search empowers you to identify potential risks and liabilities, thereby facilitating smooth and secure transactions.
