I think Mal wasn’t exaggerating when he was talking about being the original

So my theory is that Mal WAS the “core” when they were born, he was the first personality to form but his parents weren’t the biggest fan of his “attitude” so through whatever trauma that inspired he ended up splitting Mike in his brain’s attempt to appease them and make the ab*se stop. Whether or not it worked is up to you and your headcanons, and I agree with most of the other popular ones (Vito formed from s*xual trauma, Chester formed from a loved one’s passing, Manitoba and possibly Svetlana are fictives, Mal is a persecutor and probably ageslides) I’ve just been thinking about that bit

It's complicated~

Mal Du Pays believes that anyone and everyone is out to get it and Siffrin. It doesnt trust anyone but itself, that even includes Siffrin and Loop sometimes. It is proven wrong, but it's hard to admit when it's wrong.

That being siad, it IS a hypocrite in some ways. It has moments where it does self harm, it doesnt care about the harm of using the dagger to loop cause the ends justify the means. It doesn't trust anyone else, yet it's been warming up to Isabeau. It wants to protect Siffrin, even if it does more harm than good sometimes.

On the whole! It is deffinatly in a phase where, well, it could end up as either a protector, or persecutor, or a bit of both. It's complicated, I call it a protector, though.

My AU concerning Mike & the system regarding total drama & all stars

I like to kinda rework and completely erase Mal being the 'previous host' and instead make it that Mal is a persecutor who split off due to the trauma of Total Drama I like to think that Mike was heavily marked by his time on total drama and when he came back even though he had a lot better understanding of his system and triggers and communication with other system members the stress of the competition and of dealing with the abuse on going with the show made Mal split off. Mal is a persecutor who is a misguided protector. Mal split off with the belief that to win the game you have to be selfish and self preserving and manipulative. He feels that Mike is "Too soft" and "Too kind" to survive let alone win the game. So he decides to play it by 'their rules'. A rule that Mal perceives to be the only way to make it through. Mike is too 'naive' and 'trusting' and Mal sees that as a weakness others in the show will exploit and abuse so he decides to distrust everyone including the people who the rest of the system feel are safe like Zoe and Cameron. It doesn't come from a serious place of malice more than a maladaptive coping strategy where Mal is in constant survival mode and unwilling to let his guard down in case the system gets hurt and he KNOWS that its bound to happen being part of total drama. He tries to protect the system by constantly trying to force himself front and by betraying people and playing 'the villain' so that no one will hurt them and that they have more chances to win if they're the one to strike first and he lashes out and gets angry when the system calls him out for it because he doesn't understand why they dont see what he sees. Post-Show I headcanon that Mike Vito and Svetlana are dating Zoe while she's close friends with Manitoba and basically adopted by Chester and she's healing her relationship with Mal bit by bit, they're friends but she still has a bit of a hard time with trust but both she and the system are navigating Mal being a misguided protector and trying to help him deconstruct the beliefs he split with and held onto as a way to protect everyone

I don’t like total drama trauma or w/e it’s called much. But I do appreciate them getting the concept of alters forming. Having Chester form after the death of a grandparent? Having Vito form after uhm the reason he did? Perfectly understandable.

malware is my special boy (i say this about all of my ocs)

mal is a part of a DID system composed of himself + dani + jeanine. he's a persecutor and he's 15 and he thinks he is so scary and cool but he's kind of lame in that special way only a 15 year old can manage to be. he's not ACTUALLY 15 per say but that's around when he was host (13-16) so it's very cemented in his being to. act like a 15 year old. he split off when his system was really young and accidentally got a few viruses on the family computer and were afraid of the repercussions of it breaking hence why hes like that. he's a computer virus. he is the only member of his system who has any issue with their girlfriend. when he was host he committed a lot of petty crimes. mostly theft. got them in trouble a few times. one time while he was at the police station after getting caught another student who was there for getting into a fist fight or smth saw him and went and started some crazy rumors about him actually being super scary and whatnot. when he gets back to school these rumors have escalated into some students believing hes like, a murderer, and he uses this to his advantage and basically runs his school for a bit. hes living the dream life of any emo 13 to 16 year old. then dani splits off as "damage control" + from the stress of having been arrested and becomes host and whatnot and he gets all mopey about it because he doesnt WANT this to change and he LIKES having control over something for once in his life. his favorite artist is STOMACH BOOK and he thinks dani and jeanine are LOSERS and jeanine calls him "bug" and he HATES IT and he thinks feeling anything that isn't anger or like. smugness is WEAK AND LAME. he picked october 31st to be his birthday (he thinks this is so cool and he loves having a special day dedicated to HIM!!!) and he's a light sleeper and hates sleeping and he hates his parents forever and ever (unlike dani who tries his best to like them and jeanine who recognizes all of the highs and lows of having bad parents who are Trying). he used to scam people out of their money in middle school and he likes to break things dani makes to upset him on purpose. and his eyes get big like a cats when hes silly or excited or causing problems on purpose

REWRITING MIKE TDROTI

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii my names tommy and i’m a DID system of an undisclosed amount of people. I’m the host and I’m here to talk about the first character in media I related to: Mike. 

I actually didn’t ‘exist’ until December of 2020, but I took memories from the original host from when they got into TDI. Now that, thats, all out of the way:  I feel a good rewrite of his character would be clarifying the roles between Mike and Mal. Its easy to just write off Mal as a persecutor, but I feel like hes an ex-host -- while Mike just had a fixation on TDI, which is why he was front stuck and took the host role.  I would also rewrite the show to call his disorder DID, and not MPD. It aged terrible, didn’t it?  His character is very endearing to me, but I feel there could of been a lot to change to be a bit more respectful to systems (like adding the disassociate part of the disorder). 

I wanna hear your guy’s thoughts! I’m gonna spend time in-between assignments working on his rewrite!

I wanna say something about being a femme headmate in a transmasc body. Sort of just to organise my own thoughts but maybe this will strike a chord with other people like me? Not sure.

TW for persecutors, dysphoria, I forgot the word but whatever it's called when you have trauma from within your system.

I was dormant for much of the body's transition (when I say transition from now on I am referring to my transmasc headmate's decision to take testosterone and go on the waiting list for top surgery and a hysterectomy, change the body's legal name and title etc.)

I was not consulted in the process because Dandelion didnt know there was anybody to consult. Therefore I awoke from dormancy as a persecutor, confused by my new body and situation and desperate to make him acknowledge that I was here and I mattered. I hit him where it hurt, I deliberately triggered his dysphoria a lot for a long time because I wanted to make him feel how I felt, but also because he's had years to adjust to the abuse we face for existing in a trans body and I have not. I thought I was protecting us by doing this, because I know it is not safe to be transgender. I now understand that it's not a decision he ever got to make, it was transition or die, and he chose to live. After a lot of work and a lot of vulnerability, we both exist in this body along with our protector Mal and some others who front infrequently. Part of what is helping me with my feelings about having a transmasc body is unlearning transmisogny. Dandelion has a trans girlfriend who has been with for almost three years. I can feel how much she means to him. I can feel how much he loves her. She's hairy and has a deep voice and all of the traits about my own body that confuse me but he finds her beautiful, not in spite of her transness but because of it. That helps. If I had not been sharing a body and a mind with someone who wholeheartedly loves a trans woman I don't think I'd have believed anyone could love a femme who looks like me. But I do believe it now because I have no choice.

I've been looking for anecdotes about headmates with similar experiences but all I can find is accounts from headmates who are the opposite agab to their body. I identify with the body's agab for the most part.

Here is a small note I wrote to my co host in our phone;

"Don't be afraid of me because I'm femme aligned and sapphic. I am not the evil TERF you think I am. I come from a period in our life where we knew next to nothing about trans people, got extremely heated over feminist topics and being queer etc. and given the circumstances I think I worked through my biases pretty quickly. The things I did and said were not okay, but sometimes Dandy panics and thinks I will detransition the body and things like that. I have no desire to do so. Even if I did, I'm 16 and the body is 26. There's no logic in doing so because I still wouldn't look like me."

I think this sums up our situation pretty well. We both make eachother at least a little bit dysphoric just by both existing but we are both important. I'm putting together mood boards of things I will buy to affirm myself (wigs, cute clothes etc.) for around the house.

Voltaire writes back to Frederick...

... whom he hasn’t been in regular contact with for more or less four years.

Frederick had refused Voltaire’s asking for permission to go back to Potsdam in late 1753; avoided writing to him directly but let Abbé de Prades take up the correspondence; wrote and published a satirical ‘Portrait of M. de Voltaire’ in 1756.

Despite all the name-calling (fou, méchant, ~extraordinare~, etc.) to third parties, all the prayers to heaven that Voltaire never comes back, on Jan 19th 1757, Frederick wrote a ‘tender letter’ to Voltaire, days after Russia declared her entrance into the war.

At some point in summer 1757, with Frederick’s first major defeat at the Battle of Kolin, his mother’s death, the Prussian retreat from Bohemia, he fell into a deep depression (a haunting representation painted by Menzel) and meditated suicide. Either encouraged by Wilhelmine or voluntarily, he wrote to Voltaire, thus virtually reopened their regular correspondence.

The letter hasn't been found since (as the Jan 19th one, & many others from this period), but those survived still help construct a sense of it, as well as the brief personal warmth shown between Voltaire & Frederick - both said they couldn’t care less.

Here is a collection of some extracts which I like and hope can serve to paint this exchange of letters between F & V, with Wilhelmine as their mediator, in a somewhat clearer light. These are from letters written from July to December 1757 by Voltaire, Wilhelmine and Frederick. All originals are taken from Edition Garnier & Œuvres de Frédéric le Grand. Translations are mine. Emphasis in texts are made by me. my english and french are both not so good, but i try;; so feel free to critique my usage of words etc.!

It’s time I finally jot down a quick run down of Mike’s System and what the alter’s ‘classifications’ are as alternate personalities. This doesn’t include Mike as the Host Personality and instead focuses on the alters themselves.

Integration (working through trauma so that alter’s begin to disappear as they aren’t needed anymore) isn’t an option for Mike and instead he has been working on Healthy Multiplicity (increasing communication with his alters and keeping the number of alters manageable.)

Warning for Mentions of: Child Abuse, Bullying, Anxiety, Arson & Attempted Murder.

I’ll be throwing these out in the order the alters appeared.

Mal

was the first alter to form, and his trigger is the least specific. Mal can more easily front (take control) or co-front (those instances where he only pops in for a brief second) then the others because his trigger is generally when Mike is stressed, or anxious, or feeling helpless.

These feelings were often made worse by the high tension nature of Total Drama and that’s what lead to Mal being such a problem in All Stars.

Because this trigger overlaps with some of the others (ie: Svetlana, Vito, or Chester) Mal is able to co-front and front more easily, and the co-fronting (as well as Mal just being a piece of shit) helps in his impersonating Mike.

Mal is the alter that holds most of the memories of the abuse they suffered from their birth father, and was the one who finally acted to get them out of a bad situation.

Though his solution to this was to set the house on fire and try to get rid of their dad permanently. Mal is a PERSECUTOR ALTER (being hostile towards the Host Personality / Mike) but at the time of their diagnosis in juvie (age 11) Mal was classified as a MEMORY / TRAUMA HOLDER.

Manitoba

was the second alter to form. His trigger is incredibly specific, with being most easily triggered by Mike wearing a fedora. But he can also be triggered by Mike being in a rough survival situation, or in an instance where Mike is spiraling badly with anxiety and his more level headed personality might be needed to do damage control.

His main function within the system is as a GATEKEEPER ALTER (an Alter who can control who can take control, or access certain memories, or parts of the internal world) and is considered to be of the INTERNAL SELF HELPER classification by Mike’s Psychiatrist as he formed mostly to keep Mal out of trouble.

Something he fails spectacularly at due to Mal being Mal.

When Mal is not at his most powerful, Manitoba often takes the leadership role among the alters, keeping the peace and being the main instigator of the internal conflict at the end of ROTI.

Mal and Manitoba have a special kind of rivalry because of their classifications and purposes within the system, often getting in each others way.

Svetlana

was the third alter to form. Her trigger is broad, and will often overlap with Vito or Chester or Mal. She is usually triggered in a physically taxing situation, but can specifically be called by asking for her or introducing her like Cameron did via an Olympic Announcer.

Her classification within the system is that of a MEMORY HOLDER in which she holds many of the memories of things Mike is proud of, or is optimistic about, and this in part helped shape her.

Much of her bravado comes from this position, as well as being an INTERNAL SELF HELPER like Manitoba.

Although, she often interacts with or speaks to the others and is usually able to understand them better then Manitoba, who mostly acts as an authority figure who would keep troublemakers like Mal and Vito in line.

Svetlana can be triggered similarly to Manitoba or Mal when Mike is having an anxiety attack, as that’s sort of an ‘alternate personality roulette’ so to speak.

Vito

was the fourth alter to form. His specific trigger is when Mike takes off his shirt, but he has a broader secondary trigger that overlaps with Mal and Svetlana. When Mike is about to get in a fight, Vito can be triggered into control to finish it.

Of all of the alters, Vito is the most self conscious of the body’s appearance, while Svetlana is the health nut by personality, Vito cares the most about looking good, and takes the most pride of all of them in their appearance, leading him to be classified as a CARETAKER ALTER. Though he has also been classified as a PROTECTOR ALTER due to being the most willing to start and finish fights that Mike may get into with his bullies.

His more arrogant personality, and willingness to step up has often deterred the worst of the bullies in school from seeing Mike as an easy target.

After Mal ‘died’ / retreated to Mike’s subconscious following their time in juvie, Vito took up most of the responsibility involved in protecting them from outside threats.

Chester

was the fifth, and last alter to form. His specific trigger is Mike’s frustration, and irritation, which can overlap with Mal’s trigger. He isn’t afraid to say the things that Mike would hold back on saying, and this often leads to conflict because Chester can’t keep his mouth shut, and tends to be overly critical of everyone around him, Mike and the other alters included.

Chester is classified as an OBSERVER ALTER. He usually knows the most about what’s going on with the others, but he mostly just sits back and watches. He doesn’t often intervene, and will usually let Manitoba or Svetlana take care of any problems.

Especially when that problem is Mal.

OSDD stands for Other Specified Disassociative Disorders (s because it's all of the ones without a name). This is the best way I can describe at the moment.

There's a bunch of people living in a house, in that house is a games console that only one person can use at a time. (But, at least in my case, sometimes someone else can have influence as well) That 'house' is the mind of one body and the person holding the controls is fronting.

Fronting is just a term for 'the one that is currently in control' so, if I was to say Ali was fronting, that would just mean that Alijah is in control.

A little extra incase:

A system is the group of alters inside one body. I know there are some that have names for the systems, but I don't.

The core is the body/person that's on the birth certificate/person they would be if they didn't have a disassociative disorder.

The host is the most common but I've out that as the core even though it's Remi because I have to keep it from quite a few people and I don't want to get into any habits that let it slip.

Alters are the different people, some people (usually those who don't have a disassociate disorder) call them alter egos. I don't know how other systems are about this, but with this one, please NEVER use alter egos. Some of the alters hate the phrasing and unless said, it's likely that you won't know who you're talking to. There are multiple types. Alters that are just another person, fictives that are 'based' of characters (eg, Janus fictive) and non human. Some alters may also be harmful to others (persecutors do so purposefully)

Protectors protect different alters, in our case Alex is and is focussed on Pearl.

Gatekeepers control who can and can't front. There was a slight problem with that last night when Remi broke down. I think I might have two gatekeepers now thanks to Mal.

Satan

Some claim that there is no such being, the devil; but after observing the evil that exists in the world, it is logical to ask: "Who continues to do the work of Satan during his absence, if he does not exist? The scriptures reveal to us:

1. Its origin.

Read Isa. 14: 12-15; Ezeq. 28: 12-19. The popular conception of a horned, crowbar, and horrible-looking devil had its origins in pagan mythology and not in the Bible. According to Scripture, Satan was originally Lucifer (literally, "the one who brings light"), the most glorious of angels. But he proudly aspired to be "like the Most High" and fell into "the condemnation of the devil" (1 Tim. 3: 6). Note the historical background in chapters 14 of Isaiah and 28 of Ezekiel. Many have asked, "Why are the kings of Babylon and Tyreus mentioned first, before the fall of Satan is reported?" The answer is: the prophet described Satan's fall for a practical purpose. Some of the kings of Babylon and Tire claimed worship as divine beings, which is blasphemy (See Dan. 3: 1-12; Rev. 13:15; Ezek. 28: 2; Acts 12: 20-23), and did of his subjects the game of his cruel ambition. In order to admonish those, the inspired prophets of God removed the veil from the dark past and described the fall of the rebellious angel, who said: "I will be like God." This is the practical lesson: If God punished the blasphemous pride of this high-ranking angel, how can he stop judging any king who dares to usurp his place? Notice how Satan sought to infect our first parents with his pride. (See Ge 3: 5; Isa. 14:14). Let us note how frustrated pride and ambition still consume him, to the point of wanting to be worshiped (Matt. 4: 9) as "god of this world" (2 Cor. 4: 4), an ambition that will be temporarily satisfied when he incarnates the antichrist. . (Rev. 13: 4.) As a punishment for his wickedness, Satan was cast out of heaven, along with a group of angels that he had enlisted in his rebellion. (Matt. 25:41; Rev. 12: 7; Ephesians 2: 2; Matt. 12:24.) He sought to win Eve as his ally; however, God thwarted the plan and said, "I will put enmity between you and the woman" (Gen. 3:15).

2. Your character.

The qualifications of Satan's character are indicated by the following titles and names by which he is known:

(a) Satan literally means "adversary" and describes his malicious and persistent attempts to obstruct God's purposes. This opposition was manifested especially in his attempts to thwart God's plan by seeking to destroy the chosen lineage, from which the Messiah would come - an activity predicted in Gen. 3:15. And from the beginning he has persisted in this struggle. Cain, Eve's first son, "was of the evil one and killed his brother" (1 John 3:12).

God gave Eve another son, Sete, who became the chosen seed from which the Deliverer of the world would proceed. But the venom of the serpent was still having an effect on the human race, and, over time, the lineage of Sete gave in to bad influences and deteriorated. The result was the universal wickedness that resulted in the Flood. God's plan, however, was not frustrated because there was at least one righteous person, Noah, whose family became the origin of a new race. In this way Satan's purpose of destroying the human race and impeding God's plan failed.

From Shem, son of Noah, Abraham, the progenitor of a chosen people, descended through which God would save the world. Naturally the enemy's efforts were directed against this particular family. One writer traces Satan's cunning opposition in the following incidents: Ishmael's opposition to Isaac, Esau's intention to kill Jacob; and Pharaoh's oppression of the Israelites. Satan is described as seeking to destroy the church in two ways: inwardly, by introducing false teachings (1 Tim. 4: 1; see Matt. 13: 38,39), and outwardly by persecution (Rev. 2:10).

This was the case with Israel, the Old Testament church of God. The worship of the golden calf at the beginning of its national life is a typical case that has constantly occurred throughout its history; and in the book of Esther we have an example of an effort made to destroy the chosen people. But God's chosen people have survived both the corruption of idolatry and the fury of the persecutor, and this is because of the divine grace that has always preserved a faithful remnant. When the time was up, the Redeemer came into the world, and the evil Herod planned to kill him; however, once again God prevailed and Satan's plan failed.

In the desert, Satan sought to oppose the Anointed One of God and divert him from his saving mission, but he was defeated; and his Conqueror "went about doing good, and healing all the oppressed of the devil." This secular conflict will reach its climax when Satan incarnates in the antichrist and is destroyed at the time of Christ's coming.

(b) Devil literally means "slanderer". Satan is called that because he slanders both God (Gen. 3: 2,4,5) and man (Rev. 12:10; John 1: 9; Zac. 3: 1, 2; Luc. 22:31) .

(c) Destroyer is the meaning of the word "Apollyon" (Greek), "Abaddon" (Hebrew) (Rev. 9:11). Filled with hatred against the Creator and his works, the devil wanted to establish himself as the god of destruction.

(d) Snake. "That ancient serpent, called the devil" (Rev. 12: 9) reminds us of the one who, in antiquity, used a serpent as his agent to bring about the fall of man.

(it's tempting. (Matt. 4: 3.) "Trying" literally means to prove or test, and the term is also used in connection with God's dealings (Gen. 22: 1). But, while God tests men for their own good - to purify and develop their character - Satan tempts them with the malicious purpose of destroying them.

(f) Prince and god of this world. (John 12:31; 2 Cor. 4: 4.) These titles suggest their influence on organized society outside or apart from the influence of God's will. "The whole world is in the evil one" (in the power of the evil one) (1 John 5:19) and is influenced by him. (1 John 2:16.) The Scriptures describe the world as a vast set of human activities, the trilogy of which is summed up in these words: fame, pleasure and goods.

To these three objectives everything is subordinate. Skillful arguments in defense of them create the illusion of being truly worthy. These objectives also enjoy the advantage of a vast literary, commercial and governmental apparatus, which constantly demands from the citizens of the world the cult of these objectives, which, in their minds, are associated with the highest values. The applause of the people is dedicated to those who succeed. The judgment of things is by the apparent aspect and success, based on false postulates of honor and by false ideas of pleasure, values ​​and the dignity of wealth. Furthermore, there is a strong appeal to the lower instincts of our nature, a call that pretends to be in language (?)

3. Your activities.

(a) The nature of the activities. Satan disturbs the work of God (1 Thess. 2:18); opposes the Gospel (Matt. 13:19; 2 Cor. 4: 4); dominates, blinds, deceives and snares the wicked (Luke 22: 3; 2 Cor. 4: 4; Rev. 20: 7, 8; 1 Tim. 3: 7). He afflicts (John 1:12) and tries (1 Thess. 3: 5) the saints of God. He is described as presumptuous (Matt. 4: 4, 5); proud (1 Tim. 3: 6); powerful (Eph. 2: 2); evil (John 2: 4); cunning (Gen. 3: 1 and 2 Cor. 11: 3); deceiver (Eph. 6:11); fierce and cruel (1 Pet. 5: 8).

(b) The sphere of activities. The devil does not limit his operations to the wicked and the depraved. He often acts in the higher circles as "an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14). Indeed, he even attends religious meetings, which is indicated by his presence in the gathering of angels (John chapter 1), and by the use of the terms: "doctrines of demons" (1 Tim. 4: 1) and "the synagogue of Satan "(Rev. 2: 9). Often his agents pose as "ministers of justice" (2 Cor. 11:15). The reason that he attends religious meetings is his malicious attempt to destroy the church, because he knows that once the salt of the earth loses its flavor, man becomes a victim in his unscrupulous hands.

(c) the reason for the activities. Why is Satan so interested in our ruin? José Hussiein replies: "He hates the image of God in us. He hates even the human nature that we possess, with which the Son of God was clothed. He hates the external glory of God, for the promotion of which we have been created and for which we will achieve our own eternal happiness. He hates his own happiness, for which we are destined, because he himself has lost it forever. He hates us for a thousand reasons and he envies us. " Thus said an ancient Jewish scribe: "Out of the devil's envy death came into the world: and those who follow him are beside him."

(d) Activity restrictions. While recognizing that Satan is strong, we must be careful not to exaggerate his power. For those who believe in Christ, he is already a defeated enemy (John 12:31), and he is strong only for those who give in to temptation. Despite his roaring fury he is a coward, for James said, "Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (Aunt. 4: 7). It has power, but limited. he cannot try (Matt. 4: 1), afflict (John 1:16), kill (John 2: 6; Heb. 2:14), or touch the believer without God's permission.

4. Your destiny.

From the beginning God predicted and decreed the defeat of that power that had caused man to fall (Gen. 3:15), and the serpent's punishment to the dust of the earth was a prophetic glimpse of the degradation and final defeat of this "old serpent, the devil". Satan's career is always on the decline. In the beginning he was expelled from heaven; during the Tribulation he will be thrown from the heavenly sphere to the earth (Rev. 12: 9); during the Millennium he will be imprisoned in the abyss, and after a thousand years, he will be thrown into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:10). In this way, the Word of God assures us of the final defeat of evil. ... Satanãs

Mas ele, orgulhosamente, aspirou a ser "como o Altíssimo" e caiu na "condenação do diabo" (1 Tim. 3: 6). Notemos os antecedentes históricos nos capítulos 14 de Isaias e 28 de Ezequiel. 2. Seu caráter.

O plano de Deus, não obstante, não foi frustrado porque havia pelo menos uma pessoa justa, Noé, cuja família se tornou origem de uma nova raça. Dessa maneira fracassou o propósito de Satanás de destruir a raça humana e impedir o plano de Deus.

De Sem, filho de Noé, descendeu Abraão, o progenitor de um povo escolhido, por meio do qual Deus salvaria o mundo. Naturalmente os esforços do inimigo se dirigem contra esta família em particular. Certo escritor traça a astuta indicada de Satanás nos seguintes incidentes: A nomeação de Ismael a Isaque, a intenção de Esaú de matar Jacó; e a opressão de Faraó aos israelitas. Satanás é descrito como procurar destruir a igreja, de duas maneiras: interiormente, pela introdução de falsos ensinos (1 Tim. 4: 1; vide Mat. 13: 38,39), e exteriormente pela perseguição (Apoc. 2:10).

Foi o que se verificou com Israel, a igreja de Deus do Antigo Testamento. A adoração do abaixo de ouro no princípio de sua vida nacional é um caso típico de ocorrências ocorridas de toda a sua história; e no livro de Ester temos o exemplo de um esforço feito para destruir o povo escolhido. (c) Destruidor é o sentido da palavra "Apollyon" (grego), "Abaddon" (hebraico) (Apoc. 9:11). Cheio de ódio contra o Criador e suas obras, ou diabo desejava estabelecer-se como o deus da destruição.

(d) Serpente. "Essa antiga serpente, chamada o diabo" (Apoc. 12: 9) nos faz lembrar aquele, na antiguidade, como uma serpente como seu agente para ocasionar uma queda do homem.

(e) Tentador. (Mat. 4: 3.) "Tentar" significa literalmente provar ou testar, e o termo é usado também em relação aos tratos de Deus (Gên. 22: 1). Mas, enquanto Deus põe à prova os homens para seu próprio bem - para purificar e desenvolver o seu caráter - Satanás tenta-os com o propósito malicioso de destruir.

(f) Príncipe e deus deste mundo. (João 12:31; 2 Cor. 4: 4.) Esses graus de pontuação sua prioridade sobre a sociedade organizada fora ou à parte da influência da vontade de Deus. 3. Suas atividades.

(a) A natureza das atividades. Satanás perturba a obra de Deus (1 Tess. 2:18); opõe-se ao Evangelho (Mat. 13:19; 2 Cor. 4: 4); domina, cega, engana e laça os ímpios (Luc. 22: 3; 2 Cor. 4: 4; Apoc. 20: 7, 8; 1 Tim. 3: 7). Ele aflige (Jo 1:12) e tenta (1 Tess. 3: 5) os santos de Deus. Ele é descrito como presunçoso (Mat. 4: 4, 5); orgulhoso (1Tm 3: 6); poderoso (Efés. 2: 2); maligno (Jo 2: 4); astuto (Gên. 3: 1 e 2 Cor. 11: 3); enganador (Efés. 6:11); feroz e cruel (1 Ped. 5: 8).

(b) A esfera das atividades. O diabo não limita as suas operações aos ímpios e depravados. Muitas vezes idade nos círculos mais elevados como "um anjo de luz" (2 Cor. 11:14). (d) As restrições das atividades. Ao mesmo tempo que reconhecemos que Satanás é forte, devemos ter cuidado de não exagerar o seu poder. Para aqueles que crêem em Cristo, ele já é um inimigo derrotado (João 12:31), e é forte somente para aqueles que cedem à tentação. Apesar de sua fúria rugidora ele é um covarde, pois Tiago disse: "Resisti ao diabo e ele fugirá de vós" (Tia. 4: 7). Ele tem poder, porém limitado. não pode tentar (Mat. 4: 1), afligir (Jo 1:16), matar (Jo 2: 6; Hb 2:14), nem tocar no crente sem a permissão de Deus.

4. Seu destino.
