One of the kids I work with (I teach kids theater classes) asked me if I’m too old to know what ‘memes’ are. After saying that I do, in fact, know what memes are, she asked if I’ve ever heard the term ‘slay’. She emphasized that it’s OK if I don’t know that one, as it’s quite new and definitely ‘past my time’

quinn/matthew! or the ducklings? do you have writerly thoughts on them?

quinn/matthew my beloved! i feel like i have talked before about how in addition to how "best friend's hot older brother" is just an s-tier trope for me, the relationship triangle of lovers / best friends / brothers where each of those relationships are equally important in different ways is SO rich and ripe for all sorts of complicated feelings. quinn and matthew both feeling like they're betraying brady a little bit vs brady having spent so long with each of them being separate safe spaces that are all his own not feeling great about losing that! i don't think i could write matthew/quinn without that being a major theme. also i would love outsider pov from brady on this pairing but idk if that's something i personally would write. but i love all the matthew/quinn possibilities, i find it hard to pick just one. something starting when they're awkward teens, something starting when they're both in the nhl and it's easier to hide from brady...... it's all delicious 2 me

i do still sometimes think fondly of the haw au that lives in my head where leon didn't go to boots that summer and so instead matthew and quinn had a messy rv hookup that then derailed both of their lives a little bit. it would not have gotten nearly as dramatic as the matthew/leon version of the story but it would have been fun. something about starting a relationship with a sweaty drunk summer hookup 🙏🤌

ducklings i am going to cop out a bit and say i talked about it here but also add that i think it would be really fun to write about their slowly crumbling attempt at a long-distance relationship. sorry that i love sadness so much.

I wish you would write a fic where post-trade Jamie and Trevor are stuck in a car/cabin/summer training camp/some other place where they are confined together for an extended period of time, and have to deal with the awkwardness of a bunch of unresolved relationship stuff. Preferably in front of other hockeys who may or may not have their own unresolved issues to sort out.

yk i think this calls for hughes lake house babyyyyyy. god can you imagine if like. all the usntdp boys are going to hang out with jack, and who does cam york bring but his good friend jamie? trevor could have such a lil breakdown about it. i think for ideal spinning trevor in the washing machine of emotions vibes, it quickly becomes clear that (a) cam and jamie have definitely hooked up more than once (b) this means that jamie is into boys, a thing he and trevor never really talked about (c) trevor keeps thinking about them hooking up which makes him feel insane even though he doesn't think they're actually doing that now (but are they? maybe they are and trevor doesn't know. maybe they are and they're laughing at trevor for not getting it.) (d) nothing about hanging out with jamie is easy anymore. it used to be so simple that trevor didn't even need to think about it, and now whenever they're left alone together (or even in close proximity!) everything goes awkward and quiet and wrong. and the more trevor tries, the worse it gets, and everything keeps building and building, the pressure rising and rising (why aren't they friends like they used to be. is jamie really so different after living in philly. is their friendship really so different from how trevor remembers it. but then again, maybe trevor isn't remembering it right, because if he did that, he'd have to think about all the times they cuddled on the couch too long, or he stole jamie's hoodies, or jamie tilted into him when he was quiet and drunk and happy, or when trevor's heart would pound so hard in his ears he couldn't hear anything because he was too busy feeling jamie's hot breath against his neck) until something has to give.
