very funny to me that like, some people are like 'oh but co-creator said ____' about jayce and viktor and i'm just like, ahhh, sweet summer child is this your first time? we don't listen to that shit. i've been in far too many fandoms where 'canon' is contradictory or the creator says one thing to let that stop me from slamming my favorite characters together

Sometime going into a trending tag is very funny. "If the two male leads of this tv show from the 2000s/early 2010s don't canonically end up together, I don't know what I will do with myself !"

I don't know how to explain to you that before, like, 2017, This Did Not Happen. There were straight couple, and next to them were Ambigusly Close Men (Often With Female Love Interests), and you considered yourself lucky if in the finale they weren't in straight relationships. There were hints. There were gay actors, there were jokey "ahah let's not talk about New Year Party!", there were people being homophobic to them. But it was known that they Would Not End Up Together.

as much as i enjoy seeing the class politics discussions around silco and his actions as a chembaron and a revolutionary, i do think that a lot of people condemning his actions (which we should condemn) miss the part where like.

it did work

like that was a pretty significant part of the show. it didnt pan out because he loved his daughter but silco's methods very much did get zaun as an independent nation, the real question is if it was worth it (which we'll never know bc jinx shot him)

At some point this past year it was suddenly revealed that a not-insignificant part of this site has apparently been watching some police (firefighter?) procedural and rooting for 2 random white men to suck face for years.

And it seemed as if they'd succeeded because everyone was crying and screaming and posting gifs of two white men making out, so I was happy for them! But then it turns out, actually, the network confirmed one of the two random white men as bi but made him date some other completely different random white man. (I'm sorry I really cannot keep them apart) and so now they're all mad and hate this new gay white boy because he is the wrong white man and he's ruining their ship. It's great. Imagine if everything else about bbc Sherlock was exactly the same except they genderswapped Mary so John was gay now. Diabolical.

no hate to this person but it's so deeply ironic to be praising wandavision (a show with a whitewashed lead) in the same post as praising chris grace as scarlett johansson (a comedy special that not only deeply criticizes whitewashing and the racist structures that allow it to happen, but also in the middle he talks about a producer that watched the show and loved it but also brought up the whitewashing-defense-rhetoric of "anyone should be able to play anyone" when talking about straight actors cast in gay parts)
