Once again, you know who is underutilized in DCxDP crossovers? Battinson. Skrunkly shivering boi. Who we should definitely give children to care for. 

 Did you know that Jason canonically had a brother named Danny? Well you do now, and it should also be used more. 

 We all want to give Battinson a robin, so why not give him four for the price of two. He of course gets Dick from the circus- he’s never going to go into public again, this was the first time he’d gone to do something out of his comfort zone for a while and look how that turned out. 

 And on one of the nights that Dick has to stay home (Alfred insists he must finish his homework if he wants to go out on patrol) Bruce returns to the batmobile to find not one child, but two. Is Danny reincarnated? Just appeared one day? Who knows, but he’s here now and going to protect his little brother. 

 Bruce might have tears in his eyes when they both hit him in the kneecaps and bolt because even with the armor it still hurts. How he manages to grab both kids he’s not too sure, but he ends up getting them food after they put the tires back. He also doesn’t understand how he’s convinced them into the car but they’ve both conked out and maybe he’s panicking and needs Alfred- 

 D-Dick why is there another child here? He’s the neighbor, cool cool. W-what do you mean he’s home alone, he’s like, 4?? What do you mean he’s been alone for a week now???

Something about how loudly Edwin says Charles' name in this scene has been driving me insane and I think I've finally figured out why.

When Charles finds Edwin in hell, Edwin is rolled into a little ball of misery, covered in blood and quietly sobbing. It's probably a position he's developed over decades, making himself as small as possible, being as quiet as possible, trying to take up as little space as possible. He's almost pretending he doesn't exist in order to stretch out the moments before the spider finds him and the loop starts again.

And then Charles says his name and Edwin looks up and sees Charles, and it's like all of his defenses just vanish. He doesn't whisper Charles' name, he says it, loudly, as if he has completely forgotten where he is and that they need to be quiet. He gets up, unfurls his limbs, slowly standing up to his full height, taking up space again. Every instinct in his body should tell him to stay hidden and as invisible and silent as possible, but Charles has just smiled at him, and Edwin speaks again, asking "Is that you?" and letting out a shaky breath of relief.

He is completely vulnerable and exposed now, like Charles' arrival has made him completely forget that they are in hell and that he could be ripped apart by a spider doll demon at any moment. All the defences he has built up over literal decades just completely crumble as soon as he hears Charles' voice.

And then the spider comes and rips him away, and I don’t think it would have done (at least not yet), had Edwin not alerted it to his presence like that. I think that’s why this moment wouldn’t let go of me, because I always thought it shouldn’t be this easy for Edwin to abandon a survival tactic he has developed over decades of torture. But all it takes is Charles being there, and Edwin forgets everything else.

RAP RAP RAP!

The rapping on her door caught her off guard, and she flipped out of her chair with a thump! She must have fallen asleep in that recliner waiting for Whisper. But she never showed, and she was more depressed then ever. What had happened? not even a text to let her know she wasn't coming. It really tore her up, but when she thought about it. She'd never want to see her again either, after what she said to Whisper. She rubbed her hand under her eyes and finally pulled the door open to see who was knocking.

Her smiling face greeted her a little wave from the mute wolf more then made Tangle perk up. She didn't even hesitate to throw herself into the wolfs arms and give her the biggest hug! Picking her up and spinning her around once before she set her down! Poor whisper looked so overwhelmed and yet a smile on her face---it had been almost 3 months since they saw each other last.

" Ah you made it! i didn't think you were...i mean i hoped but... ahh! you made it! "

She hugged her again and the taller woman just pat Tangle on the head, and the Lemur grinned like a big dork that she was! She knew how hard she'd worked just to be allowed to hug her, it showed how close they'd came! But Gaia she was happy to see her, so happy she was shedding tears now! Rubbing a finger under her eyes to brush the tears away! She took Whispers hands and gently pulled her inside and closed the door finally giving her some space and moving onto the couch and sitting down. The Wolf took a moment to let her wisps out to fly around which they all immediatly dog piled Tangle knocking her to the floor!

She couldn't help but laugh and give them all a soft rub on the head, talk about missing her. She kind of forgot how much she loved these guys! She took a moment to give them all head pats and rubs, before climbing back on the couch and sitting next to whisper and fidgeting a little with a warm smile. It was clear how much she loved her, how much she cared but she never really got to say just how much. When she did it came out as yelling and screaming and--- fuck she stilled hated herself for that.

" ... I... last time ... what i said... "

Whisper placed a hand on Tangle's shoulder as if to tell her it was ok, it was ok for her to be angry. Even if what was said was harsh she knew Tangle didn't mean it. It was clearly eating her up, and arguments were going to happen weren't they? no relationship happened without alot of hard work. She might never be happy with her constant hunting of Mimic but to keep Tangle safe she had to keep it this way.

" I'm...still Sorry... and... and... i was wrong... to say that "

Whisper pulled Tangle into a gentle embrace and held her, for now for this moment. It was just the two of them, and there was no need to rush anything.

They had alot to talk about didn't they?
