Do you still write vignettes? If you do, you should write something about Orym and Fearne doing something mischievous together, like when they set up that flour trap/prank in the museum!

Yes, I do, I have just been dealing with a LOT of RL stuff, a lot of it stressful. But thank you for your patience. (FYI - this particular vignette is based on a very well-known college dorm prank. It is one of MANY I got up to in college.)

"A Good Idea at the Time"

Laudna let out a yawn so wide that her jaw cracked. "God, I am exhausted. I'm gonna call it a night."

"Yeah, that Feather Fall on all of us was pretty clutch," Orym said admiringly. "But being flown like a kite would have been a lot more fun had it not been in the middle of a dust storm." He slapped at his clothes and sneezed. "And I still feel like a tumbleweed."

"Well, we can wash up and get some sleep, or stasis in FCG's case," Imogen sighed, rubbing her face and succeeding only in smearing the dust over it even more."

The Hells trooped below decks to get some water to wash up with, then headed to their respective quarters.

Orym, however, noticed that Fearne was hanging back with what he immediately recognized as THAT look.

He sidled over to her. "All right, Fearne, out with it."

"Out with what?"

The halfling just folded his arms and stared up at the faun.

"Did you steal something?"

"No."

"Are you GOING to steal something?"

"No."

"Then what's that look for?"

"What look?"

"Whenever you have an idea, you get this look. It's practically a banner over your head that says, 'I'm about to do something either illegal, immoral, or insane.' So I want to know what it is."

"Wow," Fearne said admiringly. "Has Imogen been teaching you how to read minds, too? Do you think she'd teach me?"

Orym sighed and rubbed his face. "No, she hasn't been teaching me, Fearnie. I just know you. So what is it?"

Fearne drew him a little ways down the corridor. "Just thinking of having a little fun."

"Oh, no."

"It's nothing serious, honest!" she assured him. "But... I do kinda have to wait until Chetney goes to sleep first."

Orym frowned. "Fearne..."

"It's perfectly safe, I promise."

"Until he wakes up and wolfs out."

"No, no, no, it'll be fine. It just involves a bowl of water. And I don't even have to stay in the room all that long."

"Fine, but I'm keeping an eye on you while you do this, just in case," he said sternly.

It wasn't long before the other Hells were sound asleep, and then Fearne went down to the washroom and filled a bowl with water. Summoning a small ball of flame in her hand, she held it under the bowl for a few moments to warm the water, then she made her way as quietly as she could to Chetney's door, with Orym ghosting along behind her.

"Okay," she whispered. "Now you open the door, and I'll be in and out in just a moment."

Orym cautiously opened the door, which Chetney had left unlocked, then very carefully pushed it open so it wouldn't creak. Fearne snuck in, went over to Chetney's bed, and as delicately as she could, set the bowl of water down on the bed and put one of Chetney's hands into the water. Then she hurried out and signalled to Orym to close the door again.

After he'd done so, Orym gave her a puzzled look. "What in the world was that all about?"

Fearne just gave him a wicked smile. "Oh, we'll find out tomorrow morning. Good night, Orym." She patted him on the head and went into her quarters, leaving Orym standing in the hallway.

"I think the dust storm scrambled her brain," he muttered to himself, before going to his own quarters and carefully locking the door.

The next morning, the Hells were awakened by a screeching yowl from Chetney's room, and all of them came dashing out into the hallway in various stages of dress and panic before rushing into Chetney's room.

Orym, however, immediately turned to Fearne, who had put on a look of supreme innocence, even as Chetney hastily wrapped himself in a blanket, red-faced and cursing with such intensity that the halfling thought that the gnome would have a coronary right then and there.

"WHICH ONE OF YOU DID THAT?!"

"Did what?" FCG asked.

"And why are your drawers completely soaked?" Imogen asked, turning bright red even as she began to giggle.

"NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! OUT, OUT, OUT!" Chetney shoved all of the Hells out of his room as best as he could, though it was harder for him to push Ashton since the earth genasi was much bigger and doubled over laughing.

Even as he was being shoved out the door, Orym suddenly realized just what had happened, and he looked up at Fearne.

"Seriously, Fearnie? Falling asleep with your hand in a bowl of water makes you...?"

The faun just grinned and went back to her room, and Orym quietly laughed under his breath. Then he abruptly stopped and made a mental note to always fall asleep AFTER Fearne.

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

If you want to write a dumb little story with a dumb little plot and ridiculously silly characters. No one's stopping you. Genuinely, no one should be allowed to stop you. Write that dumb story with your whole heart and don't hold back.

gotta say I am a huge sucker for how Adventure Time will sometimes just cut to Princess Bubblegum doing something extremely morally dubious like cutting off a tiny person’s limbs with scissors and then sticking those arms and legs onto another tiny person’s limb stumps but then she'll turn around and go like "Good morning, Finn! Are you ready for a sploinking day?" and whatever atrocities she had just been committing will Never be brought up again.

Fat people deserve mobility aids, too. No matter if it's connected to their fatness or not, because having a mobility issue that is connected to one's fatness won't change that they're still fat and still have the issue at hand. Fat people don't deserve to "tough it out" because fatness should be this divine punishment doled out to those who "deserve" it. Fat disabled people deserve to have the peace of mind that they can exist in whatever way is most comfortable and accessible to them

i know it’s like years old at this point but i love that one collab mumbo and grian did with tommyinnit bc it’s like the single most concentrated example i’ve seen of mumbo’s Chaos Nullification Powers

you get to see a bit of it on hermitcraft, mostly via his interactions with grian, but until seeing that collab it didn’t really hit me just how completely mumbo can no-sell other people’s attempts to control a situation. tommyinnit is possibly the single shoutiest, most chaotic minecraft youtuber out there, and in most videos i’ve seen he pretty much overwhelms everyone else and sets the tone for interactions because of this. but mumbo just. doesn’t let him. no matter how much tommy escalates in intensity, mumbo reacts with *exactly* the same energy he always does. grian largely comes across in the whole video as annoyed and reluctant to engage with the whole thing, but mumbo’s not even affected. he just rolls with anything he finds funny and basically ignores anything he disapproves of, only seeming more and more unflappable the harder anyone tries to get a rise out of him.

AND imo, this is the key to my favorite interpretation of him as a character

see, when the people around him are being more reasonable/calm, i think mumbo often comes across as anxious and a bit easily overwhelmed. the thing is, his nervous wet cat vibes do not scale. he has one setting. his responses to the last life ‘ah-ha!’ jokes and to hermitcraft 8 starting to crumble to pieces under a falling moon are almost identical.

mumbo jumbo is inexorably and eternally Just Some Guy, but that gets stranger and stranger the weirder his surroundings become. the giggly incredulousness that makes him an easy target for goofy puns looks Very different when it’s also his reaction to the impending end of the world.
