Man, it's cool and all if you see a metaphor for marginalisation in the monstrous, and if you want the power fantasy of 'what if you could just eat anybody who threatened you/pissed you off'. Me too.
However, as soon as you start saying 'no, these monsters are a 1:1 on Specific Marginalised Group, and you have to treat them in the fiction like they are directly representative of real human members of the marginalised group', BUT you also, in the fiction, make them hurt/kill/eat humans? And then try to shame me, your audience, for noticing or engaging with the bit where they kill people, because you made them directly representative of a real-world marginalised group? You have lost me, and also, I think, the plot.

finally started my character design final and it's a 3-phase video game boss and protagonist so of course i had to go BATSHIT FUCKING INSANE. here's my first pass stay tuned for more bc this is like a 5 week assignment
#im going to crit on these sketches in 3 hours and i just checked the class google drive and NO ONE went this hard im about to look so crazy#anyways :) the prompt i was given was 'demonic swamp' so this is a fishing sim in which you have to fish demon fish out of the demon swamp#and the final boss is of course the swamp demon. who used to be a regular human woman#but she girlbossed too close to the sun and got possessed and then subsequently possessed the entire swamp. lmfao#ANYWAY. wish me luck i think my prof is gonna be like why the fuck did you do this much on week 1#skribbles

definitely the postal 1 dude. between him and p2. my computer refuses to download postal 3 and cant run 4 (probably just gonna watch some letsplays or something) so i haven't witnessed the whole gang in full, but i have a feeling he'll stay my favorite afterward anyways
P1 is my favorite due to the Vibes (even if redux is inarguably better gameplay-wise) and a big part of that aside from the art is his character :] that game is distinctly more serious than the rest of the postal games and i literally never ever get tired of the 'vaguely sympathetic homicidal freak' character archetype. i know the demon theory has lots of evidence going toward it but im a big fan of the additional journal entries that imply he's just a dude with paranoid schizophrenia having a really bad time. like a really bad time. 'guy who suffers from severe delusions about everyone being out to get him and crazy and sick with some sort of virus goes on a crusade to exterminate the 'virus' after being pushed over the edge by his life circumstances" is 1000% more interesting than 'uhh a demon is making him do it'. like i just feel sorta bad for him
I dont suffer from any sort of delusions myself but i have a good handful of friends who are psychotic and i just think it makes him a very interesting character. even if it does fall into the shitty "ahh! the schizophrenic guy is killing people!" trope. the journal entries outside of the loading screens make him write/talk like A Normal Person instead of trying to make him sound CrAzY or whatever and i really enjoy them. Because yknow. Thats how people tend to be in real life. a lot of this could be said about the other dudes too i guess, but since the games are less serious in tone its. yknow. harder to get emotionally attached to personally. so. theres all that PLUS im just VERY easily enchanted by men with long hair

#cotl#my art#cotl lamb#cotl the one who waits#UGH i miss computer i miss being able to easily edit things😭#if you work with traditional mediums and want to make a comic with black speech bubbles and red text#my first and best piece of advice is: dont#my second piece of advice is#rather than try and do the red text first and then colour black in around it#colour in the whole speech bubble black#then use a paint marker/pen on top. i have a white paint marker so i let it dry and then coloured on top of that with red#do not recommend#anyways. i dont really think narinder would say 'lol idk' HOWEVER the image is funy to me#and also i definitely dont think he gives a shit about how these things affect mortals#i however. initially thought that 'demon possesses ur follower to accompany you into battle' would mean something like#like. they fight and can get KILLED. and run at anything that can aggro like a fucking diablo companion#so i avoided it my whole first playthrough and suffered a lot for it#i got stuck on kallamar and got really stressed about how my followers were dying faster than i could acquire new ones#and also now that i had a full set of doctrines i really regretted some of my choices bc they didnt pair up so well#so i started a new game and decided to be evil#and thats how i ended up fully filling out the folower forms! :]

So the funny thing about my veilguard game is that I'm almost definitely overleveled. I just went and fought the blighted dragons in the wetlands, and... eh. Before this id already fought and killed the revenant dragon in the crossroads, which was a bit of a challenge. I even needed to use 2 potions for it. But I still killed it no problem. The wetlands blighted dragons were pretty easy in comparison.... though I Will say, fighting *two* dragons at once was a fun, unexpected surprise. Kept me on my toes a bit!! I still didn't need to use any of my potions, though
#speculation nation#fanny plays dav#datv spoilers/#i have 5 potion slots but ive got a fuckin freakishly high defense#for a rogue especially. like 435 or smth?? i forget exactly what it is but definitely over 400#i already killed the demon-possessed dragon in the crypts. so i got the 200 defense armor#plus a +30 defense enchantment. plus a really good helmet. plus a +10% defense enchantment.#PLUS that one defense ring fully maxed out so it's giving me another +30 defense and i think another +10%??#plus protecting me from taking more than a quarter of my health in a single hit.#so i may be a melee rogue with questionable dodging skills who never fuckin parries. but im a fuckin Tank of a rogue.#and ive got that pilfer skill still that i tend to default to before using potions. or have a mage heal me.#so i rarely need to use potions. still like keeping the extra slots there tho. just in case.#im also still using the toothpick dagger. a bleeding build. got that ring thing that adds to it too.#and my other sword is the super beefed up necrotic sword. bc i love it. and im a necrotic build too.#so im just throwing around necrosis and bleeding like it's nobody's business.#my ability damage isnt the best since that's the downside of that armor. but i ALSO have that talisman from mythal#that does extra damage for low health enemies (counting any average enemy as low health) so like. im still wrecking shop.#i also suck ass a little bit so i'll be out there getting knocked on my ass in really embarrassing ways.#but it's ok i have a wonderfully high defense. i can survive Anything.#very effective build. i jab them with my swords a few times. make sure i dont die. and then enemies just have a habit of dying on their own#(since both necrosis and bleeding are damage over time. and i can do up to like. 11 bleeding slots i think. they bleed a LOT)#though it might even be TOO effective... nice to have a surety in my abilities but im also like#things have a habit of dying so quickly when i fight them... :( no i wont lessen the effectiveness of my build tho fuck that#im just looking forward to my next game where i play a mage. probably still gonna be pretty melee. but we'll see how that goes.#i also maybe wanna play a grey warden too. and romance davrin. for the funsies...#but for now. the most badass short little elf taking heavy fucking hits as they jab enemies with this tiny lil dagger#and then suddenly the enemies are dead! imagine that lol#tho it does create a bit of a challenge if things are resistant to necrotic or immune to bleeding.#like i fought that Zara lady today and realized it was taking a lot longer than normal bc my bleeding wasnt Working on her#which makes sense. given the blood mage thing. oh well i still got her >:]
