It's Natsume. Lots of people forget about him or never even really noticed him. but I did and he is honestly the most unsettling character to me.

He is constantly around Dazai, watching throughout 15 and dark era and he spies on the agency/Dazai? in the present timeline too.

He appears around PM Dazai all the time unless he is with Mori or Chuuya but not Odasaku. He watched the lupin trio.

It's not just the watching, it's the interfering. He gave Oda that book, that book that made Oda who he is and in turn made Dazai who he is.

Was Mori really the only one who made the decisions about Oda dying? Why was there no other choice unless it was a part of a bigger plan?

He put Mori in a prime position where he would be called upon to treat the old mafia boss, where he could learn and understand that the city was falling apart. For a lot of that time the person giving him orders was Natsume.

Natsume was the one who hired Fukuzawa to be Mori's body guard.

Natsume was the one who made the detective agency a possibility.

He is the one who put Mori and Fukuzawa in charge of opposite organisations. What else did he do?

How did Mori find Yosano? Where did Dazai come from? How did the guild know about Atsushi?

Time and time again Natsume shows up to create a chain of events leading up to creating a perfect pair who could cause devastation and/or save the city.

He started with Mori and Fukuzawa, Mori who would continue this line of succession by creating soukoku, Dazai and Chuuya. Mori even quotes something Natsume told him. "only diamonds can polish diamonds."

Dazai, with Natsume possibly guiding him, goes on to find his own diamonds to be polished and creates Shin soukoku.

Everything that has happened can stem from Natsume, a character we rarely see and isn't outwardly stated as important. What is he hiding?

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, rimlaine makes a way better senior gen of soukoku than fukumori does. There are WAYYY stronger parallels.

Theres more angst, sure. But like??? Rimlaine crawled so Soukoku could walk.

They HAVE to be some sort of skk variant. They literally have to.

I just saw a post say that this look like a family portrait I just giggle a little then come to the realization

IT IS A FAMILY PORTRAIT

But not just any portrait

It a three generation of soukoku family portrait (zenku soukuko->soukoku->shin soukuko)

And each one of them is showing the other half (the dead one) of the duo fukuzawa to dazai but except shin soukuko, there are two of them in the panel so that mean are they gonna survive or.... you know what I mean (or maybe they showing a possibility that fukuzawa and dazai might live) and the portrait is quite focus on the ada here

Maybe I just thinking too much cause the last panel is undecided whether akutagawa Is alive or not so maybe there are two of them there (also because akutagawa turned into a vampire by bram when he died so uh yeah)

P.S: Do you think atsushi is conscious cause his arm and leg aren't healing (so does that mean the theory about how his healing is being based on his state of mind is a possibility)

Ok so here's a bsd au I've been thinking about:

Age swap au;everyone whose original age under 25 is younger, and anyone over 25 is older (except for fukuzawa and mori)

akutagawas 44 yo leader of the pm, atsushis 40 leader of the da. Dazais and chuuya are 20. Moris 15 and fukuzawas 17.

Ok, so what if mori couldn't control Elise when he was younger. Mori, in the original universe, did say that dazai reminded him of himself. So mori having internatlized suicidal tendancies, what if elise would ocassionally try to hurt mori. And when dazai was in the mafia (he left at age 18), he had to use no longer human to nullify her. But when dazai left the pm, mori was kinda left to fend for himself. (kinda like Q)

Fast foward in the ada; dazai puts young fukuzawa up to going to this market, and shit ends up going down with two rival gangs at this location. Dazai, of course, knew this would happen, but he also figured out mori would be at this location as well. What if fukuawas' ability didn't just work on his subordinates? What if it also worked with people he had an emotional connection to?

Ranpo (age 30) demands dazai to tell him where fukuzawa is because he heard about the turf battle between the two gangs. Dazai tells him fukuzawa is there but says that he'll be ok. Ranpo has faith in fukuawas skills as a swordsman, but he's still young and learning from kunikda (age 20). Dazai explains that fukuawa won't be fighting alone because a person from dazais past would be there to help him. Ranpo is aware of dazais intelligence, but he still worries for fukuawa, and asks dazai if he'd be willing to bet his place in the Ada on it. Dazai agrees. Ranpo says that he has until a certain time limit and if fukuawa isn't back by then, there would be repercussions.
